Looks like maybe it could sub in for some fennel flavors.

I do love some black licorice popsicles, black filled and black dipped, so good.
We don't have that here, but creamy vanilla goes with black licorice in a great way.

Salty licorice inside of chocolate is also amazing.

US doesn't have enough black licorice lovers to ever make this mainstream enough. Oh well. Thank you to amazon and travel.

I would think the anise seed flavor of the licorice would be mildly offputting when combined with the traditional herbs used in pizza.
