i'm going to be moving into a college dorm soon with no kitcheni have the space and money for approx one or two pieces of cooking equipment on top of the mini fridge i've already boughtwhat should i get that will allow for the greatest versatility of cooking in my shitty dorm?i'm currently considering a george foreman and a kettle
>>16834022Electric kettle for oatmeal and eggs, electric stovetop with one heating element with a small pot for one pot recipes.
Electric frying pan. If I didn't have access to gas all of a sudden it would probably be the only thing I cooked in.
Why are kpop fans all SJWs
>>16834022George forman grill.
hot platetoaster oven
>>16834158>toaster ovenThey're called air fryers now, gramps.
>>16834022this and a convection microwave.
>>16834022Easy. Don't live in the dorm, band together with some friends and find a damn apartment. Dorms are for rich fags with no brains. Your cost of living will be halved, and you get proper amenities.
>>16834143because they’re 15 year old girls
>>16834158secondingconsider induction but it's not necessarycan be found for $50 and will boil water quickly like an electric kettle, so it's like 2-for-1toaster oven can heat up frozen appetizers like potato skins, egg rolls, personal-sized pizzas, etc. as well as toast/broil bread like bagels and hamburger buns (you could make some sloppy joes with your hotplate!)you could also bake some hobo packs like picrelyou didn't mention a microwave, and while i can personally work around not having one, you may wish to reheat certain foodsin such a case i would replace the hotplate since a microwave can boil water
>>16834320I roast entire chickens in my toaster oven, they're much more capable than you'd thinkhell my model even comes in a microwave-toaster oven combo, I'd spring for one of those
>>16834022InstapotYou can actually sauté in the instapot, and don't have to keep it on counter top.airfryer/toaster oven styleYou can make yr nugs, corndogs, toast, keep raw potatoes in yr room and you can make super cheap fresh fries. Replaces microwave too.I'd keep a skillet and 5th burner too
>>16834022Doesn't your dorm have a dining hall?
>>16834022You have no versatility. Give up on the idea.Keep booze in mini fridge, eat overpriced burgers for 4 years or find a bargain student resto.
>>16834022Get a deep fryer. Seeing as you don't even have to pay for electricity, you can leave it simmering 24/7 for convenience.
>>16834143What's the first post even trying to say?
>>16835862It's just some faggot trying to make people think mafia related media is racist because they're a smol fragile wholesome uwu bean trying to rid the world of stereotypes
>>16834022Instant pot w/ air fryer lidmicrowave
>>16834022Literally all you need is one good pot and an electric burner. You can use it to fry, boil, saute, grill, etc. and you dont have space for an oven anyways. Cleaning it is simple and leftovers are easy to just keep in the pot itself. Just be sure to get one that is wide for its height if you're planning on flipping stuff.
>>16835886WOPs are really like that, though.
go to the caf like a regular college kid
>>16835214it's $500/month for 3 meals a day at my dining hall, I could just get actual restaurant food instead of slop for that price.
>>16834022Garlic crusher and a Kenmore stand mixer.Trust me
>>16834022I say crock pot and air fryer
>>16837414Damn food prices really have gone up ours was like 900 a semester
>>16837928Wow. What an evil corporation.
>>16836910Yes but this seems a lot more like some white zoomer that randomly picked a new slacktivist cause to champion for twitter points, the second post was obviously a pre planned response for the first person to might light of him
>>16837414Mines 400/ week for boarding and 7 meals (dinner)
>>16835214i don't wanna eat that shit, loli've got a buddy a year ahead already in the dorm, says it sucks, so i wanna make my own food
>>16838296Idk about you but my dorm has pretty good food. It's buffet as opposed to canteen
>>16838343sounds nice, iirc it's like that for breakfast, then canteen for other meals
>>16834307Only correct answer
>>16834022buy cast iron
>>16834022Greatest versatility as cheap as possible? Just get a rice cooker. If you have the space, get a portable induction hob and a mini oven. Than you can pretty much have a functional kitchen and can do everything from frozen pizza to a 3 course meal that will get you laid. Don't get a microwave, oven or pan will do the same and more, kettle is useless as well, don't get meme shit like a grill as it's not versatile at all.
Why try cooking in the dorm at all, if there's a meal plan available? $500 for 90 meals/month approx. comes to $5.55/meal for what i assume is a buffet style chow hall, which isn't bad at all. You're already wasting thousands on college, why waste your time cooking and doing dishes in a shitty dorm bathroom sink as well? Just get some deli meat, bread and snacks for the mini-fridge for when the dining hall is closed.
