Why is he so good, bros?
>>
who
>>
>>16832407
wow Ron Jeremy really lost a lot of hair
>>
>>16832407
Been watching this mans hairy hands for years, well before I got married.
I basically owe everything I know about cooking and making good food thanks to him and the Japanese Iron Chefs.
My wife and her friends think I'm some kind of culinary wizard....
>>
friendly, unpretentious, comes from the industry, useful range of recipes and tips.
>>
>>16832407
What are some channels as instructive as his?
Btw I'm excited to make the Chicken Marsala Milanese one of these days.
>>
>Chef John is getting old
>there will come a day when you notice he hasn't uploaded in while
>there will come a day when watch his last video without realizing it was his last one
>tfw Chef John will die in a not-so-distant future
>>
>>16832648
>when they cremate him, his ashes will be red
>>
>>16832648
>So here's an existential crisis for your recipe about beans and rice's
>And as always >Enjooooy
>>
>>16832407
No bullshit and he teaches techniques along with the recipe which are even more important to learn than the recipe.
>>
Pretty much everything that's already been said in the thread so far. Unpretentious without becoming an insecure lunatic like Ragusea, Chef John cooks without ridiculous fancy equipment, but doesn't get triggered by gas stoves, etc. He also doesn't show himself on camera more than need be, the food is the focus. His sense of humor is comfortable, it's his own personalty coming through the humor. It's not some sort of basic bitch memelord shit like that one guy, I can't' recall his name, he's got long hair and glasses. That sort of thing can be really off-putting, he obviously thinks it's very funny and valuable, whereas Chef John is just making goofy dad jokes which are fully his own.
>>
who the fuck is this guy and how many michelins does he hold?
>>
>>16832990
You nailed it. Adam could have had it all, but then he started getting drunk on his brightcellars freebies and reading the comment section. Came across as a MASSIVE fucking baby. Lost all respect and stopped watching
>>
>>16832423
the hedgehog
>>
>>16832407
He's likeable and his demos/tutorials aren't all about him, they're about YOU

The world needs 1000x more Chef Johns and zero Ram-rams
>>
>>16833996
I say more Julia and Pepin. They weren't freak job whackos that needed weird moving robo cameras or yammering bam.
>>
>>16834011
I like them too, but I was just saying what I like about C.John

Also let's not forget about Joyce Chen, practically invented American Chinese Food. Meager woman in conversation but owned and ran the top three Chinese food institutions in Boston

>He also doesn't show himself on camera more than need be, the food is the focus.
One of my favorite things about his channel. I watched a couple dozen of his videos before I ever saw the man's face. Too many youtube food channels have camera pointed in the wrong direction. Show the food, technique, the garden, the animals whatever it is but your face in every scene. Hell, at least the YSAC guy has that one figured out even.
>>
>>16834017
Martin Yan too, his old shows.
Yan can cook.
>>
>>16832648
I'd give my life for Chef John. It isn't fair bros.
>>
>>16834026
yeah I guess he's okay >_>

The cadence of everything he says drives me up the wall. Why can’t he just talk normally
>>
>>16834059
Check out his old videos and livestreams, he talks perfectly normally.
>>
>>16832648
dude wtf he's like in his late 50s? he's at least 20 years away from dieing what are you talking about

He's not that old. Worry about someone like Jacques Pepin
>>
>>16834059
Chef John is the ultimate pleb filter

Just slightly red from a small pinch of cayenne.

>Jacques Pepin
He's still alive?
>>
>>16834638
His wife died in December, so he's not long for the world. He's still got videos going out of him making simple stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uZbWXL2wa4
>>
>>16834638
He is and still releasing content as the other anon said. Considering he also had a stroke, the guy is hardcore
>>
>>16832407
It's because he gives you exactly what you want to see in a cooking video.

>Keeps camera focused entirely on the cooking: the pot, the board, the pan, the oven.
How many cooktubers just HAVE to how their face when they address the audience? He knows you're not here for that
>Shows the cooking in its entirety, you're gonna watch him whip egg whites for the nth time and he's gonna explain what texture and consistency to look for
>NO fancy bullshit. All his recipes are simple and made from simple ingredients, not some expensive dish served at the Ritz or Savoy with an unpronounceable french name and exotic seasonal ingredients
>Does NOT pad out the video to 10 mins for $$$, shows you the cooking, the results, taste test and that's it

read this in his voice
>>
>>16834026

AND SO CAN YOU!
>>
>>16834044
this dude, galloping gourmet, and yan are hygge tier comfy
>>
>>16832407
>cooking show
>actually cooks
WTF?
Somehow I've watched his show throughout the years and he hasn't shoved as single personal opinion down my throat the entire time. It's like he has a show that focuses on cooking simple dishes and nothing more.
Amazing.
>>
>>16832639
There are no other channels like his. I made like 70-80 of his recipes and each and every single one came out good or amazing, but never bad or even terrible. 3 years ago I couldn't cook for shit, now I'm "the best cook" anyone knows in my circle of people. And his recipes are fast, easy to follow, and most of them pretty much impossible to fuck up.
>>
>>16832407
