She picks it up carefully as not to tear it's petal and sets it back down in the gentle stream of running by her side. watching until the white flower dissapears down the stream.They say when you eat a grain of jasmin rice you can tell where in the pile it was left to dry. Was it at the bottom of the pile infusing with the herbal tasting banana leaf or pherhaps it was closer to the stream of water, giving the rice a delicate flavour of minerals from the water? Did the virgin maid handle it? Then maybe you can taste her sweat milky touch. Maybe the grain was resting nearer the top of the pile. exposed to the suns warmth but also the cooling fragrence of the jasmin flower, adding such a delicate flavour. Each grain of jasmin rice has it's own story and it's exited to tell you.

Basmati when you want separate grains like a pilaf. Sticky rice or arborio for risotto, sushi and other applications when you want it to stick. Jasmine is kind of a multipurpose, jack of all trades. This is because as a rule of thumb - the longer the grain, the less it sticks. It's more complicated with enzymes but I'm not wasting time typing that up.
