Hello, fu/ck/ers. In honor of the incredible amount of Skyline shitposting that's been going on here for the past few days, I'm gonna make a pot of the sloppa. My wife has never had Skyline & the threads made her want to try it. We can't buy the canned stuff where I live, so it's time to make a pot of slop.
>>
cinammon in a chili? what the FUCK are you doing.
>>
>>15100438
Its Skyline chili, bud. You'll just have to trust me on this one.

The recipe calls for boiling the ground beef in the soup base but that's a level of savagery I refuse to stoop to. We will be browning it first.

Beef is browned. In goes 5 cups of water, can of tomato paste, the spice mixture, the chocolate, and 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar.

I wish I could tell you my kitchen smelled good. It doesnt.

Buddy it smells like beef and cinnamon and chocolate and cloves in here. Its awful and good at the same time. I agree that this chili is an abomination, I'm doing this because of memes really

No, I think it may take about an hour. Hang tight. I will be posting pics of the final pile of sloppa with noodles and cheese

West Virginians probably brown it in motor oil or some other ass backward yokel thing.

>>15100809
In WV this dish would have been called chili-mac, not made with spaghetti, and cinnamon and chocolate are for desert you godless heathen
>>
>>15100792
I am from Ohio my dad was from West Virginia. My aunt's West Virginia. Church recipe book has chilli with no browning. It specifically says to ad the meat uncooked and bring to simmer.
>>
Will follow until dinner is ready
>>
>>15100837
Jesus christ how horrifying
>>
>>15100837
in WV there's a difference between chili for hot dogs sauce and chili for dinner
You would know that if what you're saying is true
>>
>>15100837
Yeah. Recipe I'm following said the same. I couldn't bring myself to do it
>>
>>15100851
It has an interesting texture. So soft.
>>
>>15100537
>>15100595
The meat will be dry and crumbly and will be noticeably "outcast" from the sauce. Trust me. I'm a tri-stater born and raised and I've cooked this meal at home probably 200 times and made that mistake a few times before I stopped doing it. You should also be grating the cheese yourself. It's the difference between a passable bowl and a tasty bowl.
>>
>>15100854
Yeah it does say hot dog chilli. Hmmm. Maybe. We never ate chilli for anything but hot dogs when we visited. It is the best hot dog sauce.
>>
>>15100869
that Appalachian hot dog sauce is the best thing that ever happened to a weiner
chili for dinner in WV has nicely browned, somewhat large chunks of ground beef, kidney beans, bell peppers, chunky tomato sauce and then whatever your little blessed heart desires

most of you niggers complaining about boiling the ground beef probably also end up boiling instead of browning with how much water is in the meat

You cook it down until the water evaporates & it gets properly brown in its own fat. You're not going to brown it enough before the water starts coming out.

>>
>>15100882
Yeah, I've done that before. The masher didn't have the effect that you imagined it would, did it? I'm not lying when I say I've made this dish hundreds of times and I've figured out all of the quirks throughout a decade of rigorous trial and error. It's one of my favorite meals. Listen, you need to bring that pot to a boil. Not a full boil where the liquid is jumping out of the pot, but a low boil where there's a bunch of small bubbles on the surface. If you don't do this right now then all is lost. You said 5 cups of water, that's one batch. Let it boil for 30 minutes, then bring the heat to low.
>>
>>15100979

you should put the tomato paste in and "brown it" too before you add the apple cider vinegar. best order would be beef out, then fry aromatics in whatever grease is left in the pot, then the tomato paste for a minute or two then finally whatever acidic thing you're using to deglaze. I wouldn't listen to the other fag about the meat not being good.
>>
>>15101091
Part of the traditional recipe, coastie. If you shred your own cheddar block it's not a Skyline. Go fuck yourself, city scum.

You've now experienced the true power for the first time. Relish in this moment. Next time grate a block of cheddar and follow the chili instructions to a tee, but don't do that dumb ritual that buckeyes do when they first receive their plate.
