We can't afford a crave Con.
>>
>>14500775
Because if you name anything, someone will say "that's just a derivative of X." Yeah, no shit. It's the expression of X in our culture.
>>
>>14501137
/ck/ has a lot of people from isolated places with monotone cultures like the PRC because their countries couldn't into international relations until last century.
>>
>>14500775
Because we're a young country and have always been globalised "multicultural" faggots. There has never been a chance for a new food culture to develop, aside from epic meat pies vegemite tim tams haha so AUSSIE bro
>>
>>14500775
your picture is an example of Australian food culture, not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this thread. They also like seafood and dolls
>>
>>14500775
'Australian' food is pretty similar to british. We love our fish n chips and pies. Not very unique but the food is still great.

We also have a very large 'international' food culture which basically just means immigrants cooking, there is lots of asian food in the city which is quite good

because we are a relatively new country by comparison to europe/asia. there are certain products (like vegimite/tim tams) that are somewhat unique to us, but in general i think the more unique things are general ideas, like how christmas food here is typically very seafood heavy (i believe that is unique to australia, but i could be wrong).
but for the most part, we're just a hodge podge of various cuisines from around the world thanks to immigration and british history.
>>
All my mates down under love eating kangaroo.
>>
>>14500775
Can some one tell me what US food culture is? Its just a bunch of european derived food like hamburgers and pizza, right?
>>
>>14500775
in short, doesn't need one. plenty of great food styles from around the world available here. it doesn't stop some people from trying to force an australian cuisine (look up "modern australian") but it's really not needed.
>>
>>14501913
to me (an ausfag) US food culture includes:
>burgers, buffalo wings, tex-mex
>american bbq ie smoked meats
>cajun/creole stuff

They recently changed their recipe here in New Zealand. They're much less salty, more bland in general, softer and smaller.

Ingredients still on Wikipedia from 2017:
> cereals (corn, rice), vegetable oil, maltodextrin, rice bran, salt, sugar, hydrolysed vegetable protein (soy), flavour enhancer (621), food acids (sodium diacetate, citric acid), flavour, mineral salt (potassium chloride), yeast extracts, onion powder, tomato powder.

Ingredients on a local supermarket website today:
>Corn, Vegetable Oil, Wheat Flour, Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein (Wheat,Soy), Sugar, Whey Powder (Milk), Salt, Flavours (Soy,Milk), Maltodextrin, Food Acids (Citric Acid,Sodium Diacetate), Rice Bran, Mineral Salt (Potassium Chloride), Spices (Paprika ,Cayenne Pepper), Emulsifier (471), Milk Powder, Garlic Powder, Colours (102,110,155)

There was also something about moving away from Palm oil to Canola for all their products because muh rainforest muh saturated fats.

one time I woke up hungover and had left a bag next to my bed overnight and in the darkness I picked it up and put a huge handful in my mouth and crunched down and it tasted fucking fowl and I suddenly realized it was full of fucking ants and there was an ant literally crawling out of my mouth. like the whole thing, the chips the packet my carpet my fingers were just swarming with ants. I literally spewed up onto the carpet and just couldn't even deal with it, chugged another beer and went back to bed

Meat pies are gross anyway. I unironically think the new vegan ones that everyone freaked out about taste way better
>>
>>14500775
Australia has no culture at all, literally a non-country
>>
>>14501796
One of my old housemates used to eat nothing but Kangaroo meat. It was so gross. Multiple times a month he'd have monster bathroom sessions that would clog the pipes, which I always suspected was related to the constant stream of Kangaroo snags. He'd also bring home really meek, unattractive women and have loud sex with them. Just a foul bloke in general.

What are you talking about? We have rissoles and meat pie and pavlova etc etc
>>
>>14500775
They put sprinkles on white bread. That's pretty cultured
>>
>>14503683
We don't really have cuisine though. Like you have American style restaurants, and Indian, and Vietnamese and what not but you couldn't really have an Australian food themed restaurant.

When I was in Berlin I saw an Australian restaurant. I didn't check it out so I don't know what was there.
