I get where you're coming from but it was genuinely incredible. Radically different from all double IPAs I tasted before or after it. The price was fucking absurd (and the triple IPA version was even more expensive, something like €22 or €24) but it really was unlike anything else I've ever had, in a good way.

Normally I shill for Weihenstephaner but I've been enjoying this one again lately
This is a beer I have enjoyed when I was younger and it is still something I enjoy now
I think all people who are trying to get into beer should try it once
It doesn't have that inital bitter taste of beer and the alcohol content is very low
But seriously drink Weihenstephaner

Stumbled across this. Reminded me of how good IPAs used to be 10+ years ago before the invasion of the American IPA. No citrusy flavours, refreshingly bitter with the bitterness counteracted by a pleasant maltiness in the background.

It seems most English brewers have jumped on the American IPA bandwagon and are sending out beers brewed with American hops to supermarkets. American hops can fuck right off.

spirytus is just a non-watered down vodka tho, it tastes fine once you dilute it

Vodka has to been somehow filtered, but not spirytus. It's just an extremely high distilled grain spirit.

They don't have to filter it. The high rectification makes the spirit already very pure. At 95% the spirit can't really contain any other alcohols in worrying amounts, because most of them got lost in the rectification process.

Take it from a home distiller. Spiritus is just what you get straight from an industrial continuous still, or possibly a reflux still. There’s no point filtering it.

yeah goses are GOAT. I discovered Mas Agave a few weeks ago and I've leveled up my alcoholism like 3 times since then.
>>
>>14501978
>I like malty, I like sour, I like salty,
>I like all the fucking flavors except hops
We have the opposite tastes. I don't like much maltiness, I hate sour, I hate salty (gose is the worst), but I love strongly hopped IPAs and a nice bitterness.

I do find it a bit odd to say "hop flavor" though. There's a lot of hops out there and they can taste very different. Some are very pine-like, others citrus-like or other fruit flavors. I've had two different IPAs tonight that couldn't taste more distinct from each other (voodoo ranger and a double IPA called Paradise Lost by SPB)

Which IPAs do you recall not enjoying the hops of?
>>
>>14502056
Mas Agave is pretty good, though pretty strong for a gose and isn't really typical of them. Anderson Valley Brewing co makes some good goses. They are unfortunately a little bit of an oddball for most brewers it seems and rarely will you see a brewer make more than 1 or 2.
>>14502073
>hate goses
Come on now.
Not that guy obv. I am okay with IPA's, though they aren't really a favorite. Of the ones that I like a bit more, they tend to do that hazy or fruity thing a bit more.
>>
>>14502131
I have tried 2 goses. First I had a local one, Cucumber Lime Gose by Urban South. Thought it tasted like shit but my friends enjoyed it.
Months later, I decided to give goses a shot again, tried Cigar City's Margarita Gose. Just couldn't enjoy it. Tasted way too sour and nasty, and to add insult to injury, it was only 4%
>>
>>14502160
I do think we might just have different tastes, as I did like the margarita gose. If you want something that is different and higher abv, you can try that Mas Agave gose from Founders. It's like 9-10% iirc and is pretty good. Not really like other goses, more like a margarita.
>>
>>14502185
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that Founders gose. I'd recommend you some IPAs, but the best examples I know of are double IPAs, and the ones I've had probably aren't widely available. One thing they probably all have in common though is a nice creamy texture and a very full flavor profile. Very luxurious
>>
>>14494151
Belgian Strong Ale by a mile.
>>
>>14492611
Ha, that was a horrible image for me to pick. It's pitch black, though.
>>
>>14502241
I'd be okay with some recs. If I can't find them I can't find them. I've had Founders IPA and some of New Belgium's stuff that I like (hazy IPA and sour IPA). Most of the other IPA stuff I have enjoyed is local enough that if I tell you it, you will know my hometown.
>>
>>14502241
This guy gets it. The best IPA's have lots of hops but an even stronger malt profile to balance it out. I don't drink many though, because the more you do, from my experience, the more hops become mundane and you crave hoppier drinks. From that perspective I kind of get the craze.
>>
>>14494151
Lambic without a doubt.
>>
>>14499906
Honestly, I need to try em both side by side. Unfortunately Peeper has vanished from shelves. I wish they didn't do so many IPAs though so I could see what their other styles taste like.
>>

And unlike beer, always go European. They're much stricter on additives and the proper percentage of grapes for said wine.

Snobs are fags who basically trained themselves to not be able to enjoy things anymore just to earn the respect of other fags, drink what you like, a good cheap lager in the summer heat is a great way to unwind.
>>
>>14505872
"snobs" don't hate shitty light beer, they just realize it tastes almost like nothing and a lot of really tastey stuff is all over the place so why waste your time with nothing. Drinking a light lager is basically like drinking a unflavored white claw, just mildly alcoholic seltzer water, of course this can be refreshing in very hot and sweaty situations, but there are always better choices

The idea that people like good beer only because of some desire to earn respect is absolutely ridiculous
>>
>>14504588
>And unlike beer, always go European.
For some fucking reason like 80% of wines I find here are imports from Chile.
>>
>>14505914
I've heard halfway decent things about south american stuff but am mostly focused on european. American stuff is way too in your face with oak and everything. The European stuff is much more gentle and easy. Also doesn't give me gnarly headaches

I'm on the border. Usually hit up Hudson liquor stores if I ever get the urge
>>
>>14505911
There's nothing wrong with liking good beer, the point where it becomes snobbery is when you start shitting on other people for drinking anything but some obscure $5 per bottle craft beer.
Sometimes a big old 30 pack of Corona is just what the doctor ordered.
>>
>>14505978
craft beer isn't obscure man
>>
>>14505978
>Sometimes a big old 30 pack of Corona is just what the doctor ordered.
The only time it is appropriate to drink Corona is if someone else buys it and hands it to you
>>
>>14506062
And it's only appropriate to buy it when you've got a bunch of people coming over and you just need something cheap and alcoholic to offer
>>

At this point picking a craft beer is just default here. There's 32 breweries just in Minneapolis here, and another 16 in St. Paul. And then all the ones in the suburbs and further.
