Are most Cons even fun to go to anymore? feels like they've became more mainstream
Start by not going to corporate ones. I only have limited exposure, but from what I've gathered many (or most) of them in the Northeast are just that>Captcha: TATAS
>>10883698>FRIDAY: 2 PM – 8 PM>SATURDAY: 10 AM – 7 PM>SUNDAY: 10 AM – 4 PMIt's $89 for a Friday pass, after fees, for a 6-hour day. There is no hotel attached, so the con shuts down at night. For comparison, a 5-day pass for Dragon Con is currently $115. if you go to these corporate cons, you are getting robbed.
>>10883698total crunchyshit death
>>10883785Jesus H, it's even worse than I thought. What a joke>>10883791And also Reedpoop
What other cons should I consider if I enjoy these corporate cons and they are the only ones I've been too
>>10884642Basically any con where you can stay at a hotel attached to the convention center and has a party scene. You don't have to party, but the atmosphere will make it more fun and ensure there is stuff to do outside of normal business hours. If you're on the East coast, Otakon, Katsu, Anime Boston is okay. If you can travel a bit, Dragon Con, AWA, ACen
>>10883698Or you're getting too old for them and either need to stop or change things up
Betting that ANYC will have a bunch of more retarded “inclusivity” panels.
>>10883785This is the significant difference between paying the staff and most fan conventions that rely on volunteers. Someone has to pay up. The people complaining that for-profit cons should be paying everyone don't realize that the costs are passed along to attendees to make that possible.Javits also makes everyone pay a fuckton of money to move anything around. Ask anyone in the dealer room how much of a massive ripoff it is on drayage. This is also passed down in costs to attendees along with the gigantic markups.
>>10885771I might have misheard or misunderstood something, but someone said in big cons the cost to hang a small light costs $5000
>>10885913As a person who deals with this, it is entirely accurate. This is called rigging. It's another astronomical fee that big cons deal with.
>>10883717I hate that basically all the Northeast cons are corporate, and I know that's probably only because a smaller group of people will have a lot harder of a time getting a venue out here than elsewhere because everything costs way too much.Is there anywhere in theory that a con could be held that's like... smaller? Like maybe New Jersey or somewhere further up north like Vermont?
>>10886071You want a '90s anime conventions in which everything takes place in a ballroom and hotel rooms at '90s badge prices of $20 for the weekend. It's called a time machine. Please invent it.
>>10886087I still kinda see small conventions held in university auditoriums, Hotel lobbies and state fairs
>>10886071Seconding this. I'm also in the NJ/NY area and want to go to a con again, but wasn't too fond of NYCC/Animenyc. There really isn't anything in the area?
>>10886071>>10886087Flame Con. It's like $30 a day in the ballroom of a hotel. it's small but also in Times Square/Theater District.
>>10886273Im NJ too im going to Derpycon end of the month and castle point anime con wasnt that bad
is this supposed to be the anyc thread or do people hate this con so much that they didn't bother making one?
>>10889061Yes.
>>10889061some cons just don't get threads here
>>10889061There's zero con culture at this thing, no parties, hang outs, no hotel bar. The only thing to talk about is how you bought overpriced merch or how you saw someone in Genshin cosplay they got on Amazon.
>>10886071There's some small cons in the northeast I just went to that were fun. Did too much drunk driving but that's my problem.Another Anime Con is around Lowell MA a few weeks ago that was fun.
>>10883717Some of you hype up small cons so much like sub 3k attendance or some shit
>>10889364>no parties, hang outs, no hotel bar.Nigga youre an alcoholic
>>10889437If the venue is right and the attendees are cool, I'll take a 3k convention over some monster size event any day
>>10883698I remember precovid this con wasn't that bag. Now it's false scarcity overpriced bullshit. I get they need money to bring companies who bring guests but at some point it's not worth trying to go.
Wonder if ANYC's a good one to get laid at
>>10889847it’s not even a good con period
>>10889847Well it's a commuter con with no hotel, so it's dead at 6:30pm. Your best bet is to go across the street to the horse stables where the homeless gay dudes hang out. I wish I was joking about that.
>>10889912Crunchyroll has something against cons and evenings. CRX was at the same place as Fanime, surrounded by hotels, and they had shit for night time events. They wanted you gone and out of the building ASAP the moment the last panel let out, and it was maybe 7pm at most. Actively herding people out.
Cons without a main hotel are almost universally dogshit, because there's no designated place for everyone to gather and do shit after the con.
>>10890019Someone who actually gets it. Cons in hotels > with hotel directly attached > university / some other kind of venue >>>> massive county convention center. And the ones with no hotel attached draw in the worst crowds to boot
>>10889956That's because it costs money to pay employees or they have to have fans who care. Crunchyroll is a dog shit company who wants neither. Still can't believe people give them money.
Seeing all those comments on ANYC guests announcements getting hyped for shit ass guests like fucking RDC World or begging for Christina Vee for the thousandth year in a row. Con has been overrun by normalfags.
>they don't have bros to explore NYC with after the con endslmao
I'm like 90% sure someone could get in with a fake badge they don't really scrutinize them all that much.Hell, I'd take a crack at it if I had images to use. The only thing that worries me is the shiny logo on the top right corner. That seems to be the only deterrent I can see
>>10890157I live here, not much too explore that I haven't already seen
>>10890270as someone who knows how badges are made, the average printer cant put out a convincing enough fake to pass on a glance the colors simply dont matchotherwise yeah you could do it just get the right kind of paper and laminate your resultsyou shouldn't be faking badges for cons worth going to and theres nothing of value at ANYChell i can say that for NYC itself but thats another topic
>>10890270Last year some guy got in all three days by using a Friday badge. He stuck close with crowds and put the badge in a sleeve with a fake vax card in the front. When passing by any of the staff he'd just show the back of the badge which all looks similar.
Can you get laid if you arent a gym bro cosplaying
>>10889418What are they called and are any coming up
>>10890378They're dumbasses then to not make them different sizes and colors to stick out like sore thumbs. Someone used it to their advantage.
Should i bother to cosplay for my first con? I dont want to invest too much. Im thinking elden ring t. I want people to talk to me about elden ring. If i do something simple and cheap. Any ideas for a simple and cheap er cosplay?
>>10890486
>>10890487Dont have the body sadly
>>10890488Flesh colored body suit if you're modest, and pass it off as funny if you're overweight or underweight. Actual fans will enjoy seeing you. But keep making excuses, nice dubs.
>>10890568I dont mind taking my shirt off at a pool but im not getting brutally mogged like this in a place gym bros come to pull
>>10890587yes, you'll be getting brutally mogged as every single musclebro walks up and asks dyel.bruh, no one cares if you're fucking shredded or not.
>>10890587Bro you just said you've never been to a convention, so stop talking out of your ass and have fun.
>>10890587gymbros get more looks from faggots than women
ANYC still announcing shit a week up to the conneed to push those friday and sunday surplus i guess
You think they'll ever raise the cap on 3 day badges ever again?
fucking retarded how nyc has no cons
>>10890727And 80% of the guests are worthless. The only guests anyone is interested in are the Japanese guests and the vtubers. Everything else is filler unless you're super into dubs. I've never even heard of the Black people featured as guests.
>>10890757They would only do that if they raised the price of 3 days by a lot.
>>10890925>I haven't heard of them so no one hasPeak retard, they're stupid popular with normies
>>10890797real estate is expensive here if you don’t have money move out ASAP there’s nothing for you
>>10890797There are no real convention centers here, only the Javits. If they built a hotel attached to the Javits, it would suck less.
>>10891118>With normiesWhich is why this con and many others are becoming shit.
ANYC posted their entry plan this year100% certain we're going to see lines several blocks long again like 2021
>>10891211Why didn't you pay $399 (taxes and convenience fee not included) for your Anime NYC Plus™© pass?
>>10885768they do>>10891240
>>10891118I'm not going to your panel, simple as.Buy an ad instead.
>>10891315I don't watch them at all, I can still know them
>>10891349>t. DJ Taylor
>>10883698I live here and I'm gonna go. It's the only cons I know of in NYC.
Hope I can meet someone, this is the best chance to meet a like minded qt
>>10891584all the qts are always with someone who somehow looks worse or equal to you
>>10890270I’m gonna regret thisHell, I'm not fooled by my own imitation I’m just hoping staff are stupid. Gonna put it in a sleeve and hope for the best.
>>10891610post it and we'll judgeand rat you out to crunchyroll
>>10891610Staff mostly security don't seem to care. Last year I attended all 3 days by vaguely flashing a Friday badge
>>10891610Lighting is making it look more authentic than it actually is. Corners and holographic are the dead giveaway. If I hang some keychains over the front it might distract them from scrutinizing it too hard. There’s also a backside but if I have to hand it over for any reason I’m done for.
>>10890378Unless you knew this guy personally and saw him do it, I can only imagine you know this happened because he got in trouble.
>>10890727Because they know nobody will buy tickets once they know how shit everything is. kek.
>>10891631Don't be suspicious. Act like you have a real badge and move like you do. If you do get caught don't admit to making it yourself.
I usually go to this convention every year. But i skipped out this year because an influencer i hate will be a guest.
>>10891686Implying ANYC ever gets good guests.
>>10891694It's somebody who caused a bit of controversy several years ago by doing some bad stuff. I don't say any names as it didn't happen to me but it was pretty bad to say the least.
>>10891695This is the opposite of helpful.
>>10891631>>10891610Just wait until like 3 to go.When I went last year me and my friend were late and the only security was a tiny little SEA dude pretending to check badges.Granted that was with the covid card filter too but, fuckin whatever.Just don't spread the plauge or be an asshole, but you are REALLY fucking dumb to be doing this shit in NYC when all the cops are on edge and looking for a fucker to beat.
How's con so far?
Friday’s over. Dunno why I really went. I keep thinking this year will be the one I make some friends and all, but it never happens. Talk with some people, get some shots of cosplayers but never really like, hang around and talk about what we like. It just seems like everyone’s groups are so insular. Got a couple of more days to change that, but I doubt it.
I want to know if diy-anon got in.
>>10891810I did. >>10891631
>>10891817Did you have fun?
>>10891806This. I have the same exact issue, but I just want to know how I can meet cosplayers who would go with me to Anime NYC, or even just fans of anime. I can't just interrupt some friend group.
>>10883698Only is you get to bed the cosplay thots
>>10891727Huh what do you mean?
>>10891806Have you ever been to a non corporate con?
>>10891695Let me guess its the Zenitsu fucker isnt it -_-
if u guys meetup tmr pls post
>>10891794Too many mids thinking you're hitting on them when you're literally doing your job.
>>10891878Quit hitting on people
>>10889718Anime before Covid was different now it's to mainstream
>>10890101>RDC WorldI fucking hate themall my normie anime peers love them but all they do is talk about Shonen
>>10891409Same. the other cons in the Northeast are just to far away from meyou also have Comic Con and lets be honest it's just another AnimeCon at this point
>>10891817Nigga is that Makima as a Therapist
>>10883698I like AnimeNYC but it's full of Normies, people not even dressed as anime characters, Egirls.I only ever went because there are some vendors who sell pretty good shit.
>>10891794Pretty good, I just wish I can talk to more people and hang out since everyone seems to be on their way. Kind of bums me out. I went with friends sure but they all split. Idk, I just want to meet more people and talk about stuff, not just girls since Im bisexual but hey maybe transgirls as well or femboys which I saw none just wannabees.
>>10883698No, but not because of the Normies, we’ve just all grown up I think.
There were a couple obvious /k/ guys out yesterday that were cool.Too many brown people though.
>>10891884>hitting on 5's with foundation covered pimplesHave your photo session away from the merchandise, thanks.
I have a badge but was let through without even being asked to show it kinda funny. Guess confidence really is key
I really wanted to go this Saturday but couldn't because it was sold out. I ended up buying a ticket for Sunday but I'm expecting the worst possible experience. I have no one to go with and I'm not really expecting to make friends with anyone there since most new yorkers hate talking to people they don't know. Probably just going to end up fucking around in cosplay dancing or something
>>10891817Checking in if diy anon made day 2
>>10891964Post cosplay and maybe I'll find you
>>10891919>>10891964Makes me wonder how others get to go with others. Seems as if a majority of us who went were alone. I still had fun, but I'm just saying.
>>10892012Honestly a lot of it comes down to luck and connections. I met a friend that I go to nearly every con with and it was by sheer coincidence that we both really fucking love Hellsing and we hit it off from there. He has other friends that I met and while we don't always go as an entire group, now I'm never short of a con friend.
>>10892009I am. There won’t be a day 3 but Sunday was always weak as fuck. I was asked to present my badge 2 different times and was let go both times.
>>10892032Asked from suspicion or in general?
>>10883698kys ammiefuck
>>10892010I'm still getting everything together, but I'm going as kaiki deshuu. Don't be afraid to say hi if you see me around
>>10891963I got through security without even needing to open my bag kek
Who else at the masquerade contest right now watching cringe kino
>>10892042I think I was trying too hard to hide in a crowd and didn't expect me to have a badge to begin with. Was asked during the walk up, and again during the security check. They were Javits security and not con staff so that might've been why I got though still. Was never asked when I actually made it inside, though I still avoided staff and crew. This year they didn't check for badges when going inside the exhibit hall, so that also helped.Honestly I felt more from the rush of sneaking in than I did the con itself, until I participated in a photoshoot.
>>10891794I got head from a fat Fluttershy cosplayer underneath an escalator

>>10892115is she usually a ruby rose
>>10892120I can't mention any names unfortunately. Because I long since blocked the influencer in 2019 and don't wanna go through anything involving them again.
>>10892127Your vague posting is kind of annoying
>>10889364There are afterparties, official ones, and plenty others. NYC is linked by transit so things don't have to be next to each other.
>>10892101No way you did shut up, security would of been all over you. I saw that cosplayer, she looked sweet.>>10892112No she was with some other friends. Didnt see an RD

Will be at the con today, last year was pretty good. Hoping to buy some merch while at the con. Anyone find anything good while there on Friday or Saturday?
>>10891817kek what the fuck is that image
It's the last day bros how do I get a con gf
West coast here. For an industry con, ANYC looks much better than AX from all the social media posts I've seen.
If you see a black Ryu with a chun-li gf that's me hahaMy dumbass lost 40 lbs and lifted and noa.my gi domt fit me anymore, still baggy on meAlso watch out for a big fat special needs black guy with a leaf village headband he unsettles everyone randomly even meIt won't be fair if I didn't warn you all
>>10892134>>10892145How are the afterparties after Anime NYC?
>>10892192hasn't ended yet anon
>>10892191I'm gonna steal your gf
>>10892101I'll think back to this post the next time I wanna get wishy-washy with myself by claiming "Oh I can't hook up cause there's nowhere to go" or some equally gay shit. Thank you, brother.
Con suckedI'm faking a badge for next year.Worst thing they could've done is eject me.Feel like a sucker for not trying earlier.
>>10891964My expectations were unfortunately met. This con didn't feel as corporate as I expected, but it did seem like the only thing to do was buy stuff. (Maybe just a Sunday thing?) I spent the entire con just walking around the market portion and played smash bros for a bit. It was pretty depressing being alone but I saw a ton of people that were also alone and misery loves company I guess.>>10892222I also regret not faking a badge. I had a legit badge but it was in my pocket the entire time and no workers even glanced at me. Only hurdle is just getting it past the front Javis staff.
>>10892222How do you make a fake badge? Just print paper?
>>10891932Yeah too many Asians wearing aliexpress genshit.
Too black for me
>>10892222>Con suckedLol I doubt you a actually went to the con. If you did you would have explained exactly why it sucked. Go back to TwitterI actually went to the con and it was fine. A lot of independent shops occupying much of the floor, corporate stuff is in its own section, so you can generally avoid it. Everyone was pretty friendly in the indie section, no major drama or events today.>>10892226>(Maybe just a Sunday thing?)There tends to be more stuff on the Friday and Saturday, no official after parties on the Sunday. There are panels, but they are elsewhere in the convention center. There are also autographs, but you have to sign up in advance for them. It has all your typical con stuff, but the con is big so its hard to notice and find everything.
>>10892237Yea, I as there Sat and Sunday and had a good time flying solo. I will say the panels felt fairly meh this year, barely even tried to go to em and the few big ones filled up way too fast, even with the reservation system. But even the big panels didn't feel all that special. And there were virtually no screenings of lesser known or older shows or movies and that kinda sucks. A few years back they had a screening of Project A-ko and it was a blast seeing all these kids react to a classic like that. I think it'd be great if they just had one panel room just doing a classic movie marathon all weekend or something, they have the room and screenings are always popular. As for the Vendor room, it felt like a lot of the bigger companies stayed home. Usually they dominate the center of the main show room, but this year they were fairly tucked away and contained. In general it felt like there just weren't as many vendors as usual, which was kinda nice because it left more space to actually travel through the aisles without feeling packed in. I also liked how Artist Alley was in the main showroom, usually when it's off on it's own I forget to even check it out. But I got some nice little trinkets from there this year. I don't know if I'd be willing to go to this in august though. It's already way too hot in the hall this time of year, I can't imagine how bad it'd be in the summer.
>>10891878lmfao this, I worked a booth and could count on two hands how many boyfriends I made asshurt just simply talking to their girl and doing my job
Yo, security were fucking cunts this year, they're usually aloof and kinda stupid, but goddamn they were assholes this time around
>>10892255Oh yeah I had that at my booth too.Mostly just a bunch of 4-5's with unwarranted self importance, their boyfriends getting uppity because I'm speaking to their girlfriends (it was never the fat guys with girlfriends getting angry, they were nice in my experience), or the muscular retards trying to threaten me cause I'm literally doing my job. I hate the people in this city sometimes.
>>10892271One part I hate about working a booth is cool/cute cosplayers I want to compliment, but can't stray from cage. As well as cute potential customers who I actually have great conversations with, but I definitely feel like trying to pivot into a conversation of interest is both too fast and inappropriate.Man, this con is the best chance I have at meeting a weeb gf and once again, I've squandered it
>>10892276Don't stress too much about it, there's always next year.
>>10892276You're not alone in this, if that's worth anything. I also have been moping all day about not having met anyone in Anime NYC, but I had fun with some cosplayers and some merch was really cool, but yeah.
how do i get a cute weeb gf
>>10892280same way you get a GFwhat, did you think a con would change anything about the process? are you stupid?
>>10892281Alright, tell me how to get a gf then anon

If it goes well, ask for her number and/or what she's doing after the con and if she wants to hang out. Do this a few times and you'll find someone. It's not impossible that some nice gf will find you, but it's like a twice in a lifetime thing, you shouldn't expect it. You have to put yourself out there, that's all.
>>10892287>she's the one that asks you to hang out>its nothing romantic and she just wants to have a friendly hang outEvery time, making friends is nice but still.

>>10892309What was his approach? Don't care anymore if you're a guy btw
>>10892287fuck getting a gf how do i meet people at cons in the first place?
>How do I meet people at consWhy do so many people out themselves as normies. Literally just cosplay. It doesn't even need to be very good. Just recognizable enough that other people cosplaying from that same series will want you in their group. Helps to do a character that's usually left out of groups for whatever reason, or a character from a series that is popular enough to have cosplayers, but not one of the trendytrash series that has 20 separate groups. They won't need anyone.Just use your damn brain and actually put in the effort.
>>10892321I just talked to people who had cool stuff.I talked to 2x Chris Chan cosplayers, a Doug Walker cosplayer, and the guy at the hentai booth with the TempleOS hat, and they were all based. If you cosplay people will approach you. I had 3x friends do some One Piece cosplay (I think I don't watch that shit) and they got stopped constantly, over 30x times easy in the day, with people talking to them and taking pictures. One of them had a giant pipe they made and even people on the street stopped to talk to us just because it's noticeable and funny.I had a friend do a King Dedede cosplay and it's funny to see the difference between the One Piece fans and the Kirby fans. Just talk to people who have stuff that makes you think they're like you, or dress up as something that will attract the people you want to talk to.
You guys are asking over and over again how to make friends when you could have just...offered to do a meetup. While I didn't go to this shit, several people I know did. Ditto with the other two cons this week, Colossal North and Kumori. All far apart from each other but I got in with "the scenes" just by responding to people who asked to meet up
>>10892345what we’re actually looking for are GFs
Getting a GF is hard on its own, but at a con it is easier to find one that's into anime, however it's just hard going further than just a few exchanges.
Looks like my friend list is empty on PNC, anyway want to be friends? 192749
>slid into dms of a cosplayer I saw at the con>she was receptive to me flirting and told me nearby cons she'll be at next if I wanna hang out since she's back homewish it was that easy in person
all this talk about faking badges watch them up security for august next year
Went Saturday to the concert, I don't know why they put on a concert with sawano in such a small area but I'm lucky that I got in early and could see the stage. For some reason after co shu Niue set they stopped using the cameras to show the stage on the big ass monitor. That was disappointing as it was hard to see sennarin with the foam tube lights they handed out. But all 3 sets were really great with minimal technical issues. Getting into that area was another issue, very nearly crowd crush conditions with really pushy assholes around us
>>10892307>>10892312>another keyboard warrior loser larping as a gigastacyI've met most of you at the con, you would never have the courage to speak this way in person lol.
>>10892358What was your intro?
>>10892363>with really pushy assholesI didn't go to the cons but that'a definitely the AnimeNYC audience. A lot of people like to say that normalfags ruined the con but it was ALWAYS like this. The attendees have a nasty habit of being incredibly entitled and do whatever they want. The most polite people I met were the stereotypical nerdy looking guys and the actual normalfags who were here out of curiosity with their weeb friends. These two groups had manners and didn't act like absolute tards compared to the "real" weebs acting like 12 year olds on meth. Anyways I'm really glad to hear you at least enjoyed the concert despite the issues. I'm hoping next year will have more things you can enjoy!
>>10892370Concerts* fucking autocorrect. I obviously went to the con.
>>10892343I talked to that same dude at the hentai booth. I was trying to get under their skin by telling them the feds were right across from them but then I noticed the dude's hat. Funny guy, shame he's going to hell
>>10892343>I talked to 2x Chris Chan cosplayersthere was 2? I only met one who was a qt and very nice got a photo with her
Anyone manage to get into a animenyc con orgy this year? Any stories?
What's the deal with the Chinese cosplayers and photographers who set up camp in the North building entrance, where the big security shutter was? They were there all weekend and never moved, or allowed other people to use that space. I took mandarin in school, but I couldn't understand them because they were mostly screaming Chinese memes at each other.
Amimenyc was pretty fun, ran into a BUNCH of folks I knew, even an old friend from elementary Even made some knew bros like the Kung Fu knuckles cosplayer I just wish the con ended later and that I got more checks for consooomer products to buy there but all in all me and my GF loved it!I wonder if yall have a discord
normies explode
>>10892392They're scumbags. A lot of their friends were having photoshoots in the middle of the vendor floor it was so annoying.
>>10892392Thats just the Chinese cosplay community anon.
>>10892374I always loved those guys at that booth.I've been seeing them at cons for a while now and my friends still joke about interactions we had with them a decade ago. It's not often someone redpills ME on King Terry. Also, they're the best hentai booth by a good margin.
>>10892378The two I met were on Saturday and both dudes.
>>10892366>You would never speak like this in person>I've met people like you at the conSo which is it? Way to expose that you fail to surround yourself with quality women.
I enjoyed myself; I was in cosplay, wandered around and bought some stuff from the artist alley. But I think I'm getting to old for this, especially the panels aren't what they used to be.
>>10892423Were there any good panels this year?
>>10892413Do they have an orgy?
>>10892424I had a few in mind for the 3 days I went. I only managed to go to the Aniplex/Lycoris Recoil panel because I was hoping they were announcing a second season. It turned out to be nothing .
>>10892370yeah, most of the people I met were relatively normal and friendly except for this one steins gate cosplayer that was one of those reddity smug know it alls that tried talking down to anyoneclapped back at the dude with facts whenever he tried pressing me for information he asumed i didnt knowbombastic pseuds are corny
>>10892430I think I saw that same guy spurging at GLT cosplayers for having "the wrong helmets for WW2"
>>10892424New Panty & Stocking panel was legit good. It was a live drawing, they teased stuff from the new show, and the Japanese guests were high energy and open to draw weird shit. Honestly the worst thing about it was the audience, all the audience suggestions were lame, like telling them to draw a washing machine or pizza rat. When they ignored the audience, they were drawing Elon Musk as Iron Man launching giant dicks into space.
>>10892420Nice reading comprehension, redditor.
>>10892439Try not speaking like an autist.
>>10892433I was kind of confused on the reservation system, I didn't know if I won the lottery or not. Did they send an email or I had to go to the panel area and check?
>>10892440Finish reading before jumping to conclusions.
>>10892441Once you had the reservation you just lined up for the panels as usual. The reservation didn't guarantee any entry, it just made it easier for the event to not be stacked with a massive line of people who wouldn't get in.>>10892433I liked the Timber Land Disney logo and the knock-off Panty/Stocking characters
>>10892445Ah I see, I can't catch it all the panels, but I'm happy you got in and experienced it
>>10892446Thanks, it'll likely be a thing going forward too for popular panels given how large Animenyc is growing. Expect front row reserved seating for ANYC+ badge holders in the future
>>10892447Trigger was really the only lottery panel I cared for, I met them way back at Anime Next (Heh) When they were promoting the first Little Witch Academia
>>10892442I know what you said and it was retarded.
>>10892455You clearly didn't and it shows.
>>10892459You don't even realize how stupid you sound. Kys.
>>10892466That's rich coming from you, maybe don't get so offended over a misunderstanding next time.
>>10892469I'm offended because you're retarded. If you weren't, I'd politely ask you to explain yourself. But alas, your brain is smooth.
>>10892472>still can't figure out his mistakeI accept your concession.
>>10892473I aint scrollin all the way back up bro.
>>10892392That crowd is honestly the worst and why i stopped cosplaying at anyc (besides the lack of good locations and the crowding). They are really snobby, only care about waifushit, and hog space
>>10892474>scrollingshiggy diggy
>>10892474>>10892473Both of you are faggots lmao
>>10892477Same to you.
>>10892479Why me anon?
Any stories from animenyc this weekend?
>>10892430you're delusional, hope you kick the loli thing and start lifting
>>10892490Army, Marines and FBI there trying to recruit weebs
>now realizing I drunkenly went on about how a mutual was extremely attractive to my friends >they also know said mutual
How the fuck do you slide into IG dm's now if you need to be accepted first?
new york sucked but atleast I can walk somewhere at allate pizza for a dollar a slice at 7th ave was nice that it was that cheap
Touhou meetup was the only thing that made AnimeNYC worth it for me. Female Reimu cosplayer asked to do a heart-hand pose with me for a picture and it gave me a massive boner.
>>10892676i saw that photoshoot when i was walking around i thought it was all guys
>>10892683There were 4 actual females in the meet-up from what I could tell. The rest were crossplayers and trannies.
Are there any dating apps that actually have nerds and weebs, everything is just normalfag as fuck
>>10892676I saw that nigga dressed as cirno who did the virgin shuffle. Asked him to sing the song and it was very obvious he practiced a lot... fatherless behavior
>>10892685actual girls play genshin, not 2hu
>>10892490>>10892505Who is the target audience?
>>10892703Bruh, its called a convention. Do everything you would do in a dating app, but put that effort into your con presence. Cosplaying is the easiest way to do it, but other people can do it through being good at photography or just being able to talk to people. But it's like stats, you can min max your points or spread them out. But you have to have to put in the effort to make yourself look good, have skills that are useful to them, or give them entertaining conversation. I'm thankful for the anon who told me last year to put effort into cosplays girls will like, I got approached by and asked for pics over 100 times (I know because that's how many business cards I gave away). A pair of girls almost fell down the big stairs trying to chase me down for a pic. I'm not good looking, but I'm tall and thin enough to cosplay the twink baby girl characters that girls like. Only one girl stayed with me at the end to go get Korean food, but I could have gotten more if I were better at talking to them. Still a decent experience, and I've got a dozen I'm chatting non-stop with on IG. I feel like I'm building up my skills with every encounter. You don't have to be good at everything, just pick a few things to focus on and you can get with people at a con.
>>10892763I know all this, but I was working a booth, had no real time to experience the con itself
>>10892763I started cosplaying and get asked for photos but interaction ends after the photo is done how do I maintain a conversation?
>>10892763Why do retards think they are going to get a gf at a con?>only a few days >many travelled and live nowhere near you
>>10892765The conversation ended because you let it end. Keep talking to them until they leave, ask them what they like about the show you're cosplaying, ask them how their con is going, about panels, merch, whatever. But if you have to ask how to continue a conversation, you don't know how to have one in the first place. You'll fail at first, but you literally have thousands of attempts at a con, so get your mistakes out of the way.>>10892766Keep thinking that and staying where you are in life. It's New York, so it's a commuter con, most of the people there traveled from the 5 boroughs. Your chances are actually way better at NY cons if you're a local, since ANYC is super inconvenient to travel to, there isn't even a hotel attached. I made a point to ask people where they were from, and only a quarter were from outside NYC/NJ. And you don't need more than a few minutes to get into someone's DMs.
>>10892766Cause they're autists larping out what they heard on alpha wolf podcasts. >think women are going to pick needy and intrusive (You) instead of rich NYC white guy #99 with weeb interests on hingeNigga doesn't even realize the only reason why he didn't get security called on him is because he's tall. Nothing wrong with trying to make friends and possibly aiming for a con/weeb girlfriend, but be realistic. Nigga sounds like he's a rapist>GOTTA HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET>GOTTA KEEP TALKING TO EM>ASK EM WHERE THEY LIVE/FROM>ASK THEM WHERE THEY'RE GOING NEXT>KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING>THAT'S HOW YOU GET WOMEN BROI say this as a sex haver who got digits at the con, don't listen to these retards. You're going to get arrested if you try half the shit he does. The con is a great place for introverts to make friends, but keep in mind that nerds are just as shallow if not more shallow than the normalfags outside of the convention. If you strike out, that is not failure on your end it's theirs for missing out on someone as great as (You).
>>10892766I did for a couple of years but we broke upJust got lucky to find a girl that lived closeA couple of friends also found their gfs through cons
Almost got a gf at a con I *wasn't* a local at, I cosplayed someone she was a huge fan of and she pursued me, we got talking on and off over the course of a few months and it felt like she was simping for me, but I never really wanted to push it cause I don't fuck with LDR's. But after awhile she just stopped talking to me, and it seems it's cause she got a local bf.Ah well.
>>10892780You're arguing against a strawman that doesn't exist. The only point of your post is to discourage lonely people from trying to make friends. Good luck with that, hope it make you feel good.
>>10892497>loliBro what??? I'm just calling out cringeI really hope you're not that rintaro cosplayer
>>10892839who were you and what info were you pressed for
worked at a corpo booth ama. was pretty fun for the most part!>>10892276ikr! but that feel when a coser you want a pic of comes back to the booth, man...>>10892394i tried making a fate discord for nyc a while back, it died... so far i've only really seen midwest discord congoer culture persist since cali/west is too split and idk about east coast...>>10892490my booth was handing out stickers, and when my staff put down the sticker box for a second since someone wanted a pic of her, someone else just stole our fucking sticker box. we put reserve stickers into an empty merch box as the backup box, and then later in the day someone returns our original sticker box. I go back to check our backup box and someone SOLD OUR BACKUP BOX thinking it was merch lmao. the next day this girl came up and asked for an exchange since she got the backup box. we gave it to her.
>>10892985>someone else just stole our fucking sticker boxYeah that's NYC for you. I had retards breaking shit and having photoshoots at my booth that blocked the entrance. I fucking hate the retards that live in this city so god damn much it's unreal.I also had retards trying to hit on the cosplayers and they got mad when I asked them to move to the side cause they were blocking the way.
>>10893038>Yeah that's NYC for you. This just sounds like a general, anime congoer is a retard thing anon.
Boothbros, it's been a week now and I still haven't been paid yet, what the fuck
>>10893262Japanese company pls andastanDon't they usually pay out the first of the month in the land of the rising son?
>>10893266I worked for one of the clothes booths, it was my understanding it's a bunch of separate companies doing their own thing, that's not how it works?
>>10893335>it was my understanding it's a bunch of separate companies doing their own thingThey are, I just assumed you were working for one of the big JP corps which is why I made that comment. For the clothing companies, I'm not entirely sure how the process works. They should have given you a vague range for when you'll be compensated.
>>10883698tell me about the cons of old, anons circa 2007 and earlierI live near a very popular convention center all my life and have never gone to one
>>10893563They haven't changedJust lonely pathetic people trying to escaoe from life for a little while and people buying things or looking at cosplayers
>>10893563My experience in 2007-2012 cons was that way more people were friendlier and there to have fun with what little industry booths we hadCosplayers were more than happy to let you take their pictures, guys were more than happy to chat about their favorite anime, traps knew that only a specific group of people were actually into them and just enjoyed being treated with respect.Nowadays it's 90% guys working out everyday to get laid at cons, girls and troons acting like they're a celebrity with the former only allowing "professional" photographers the honor of taking pictures of their taobao cosplay (this used to be a slight meme back in the day but it's increased exponentially over the years), and a bunch of not so thinly veiled politics shoved into panels. That's just my experience though. But hey, at least we have more industry presence now.
>>10893682>girls and troons acting like they're a celebrityyeah this has increased a lot I'd say since around 2015 or so, something around that time "ticked" and many began realizing it was cool and so they started getting into it.reminds me of this image
>>10893683Post 2012 definitely had changes in the weeb community. I personally blame kpop and identity politics.
