"If you don't like it don't go =)"
>>10854465How we feelin bout otakon? /cgl/ meet this year pretty please?
>>10854602Never been, but this change in policy means I might make it out finally. Always down for a meetup.>pretty please?Implying the previous one/s were lame / didn't happen at all?
>>10854614just didnt happen last year, maybe the gay covid stuff was partly why
I hope it's less gay this year. Like actually gay -the last several years the marketing material made it look like another unrelenting pride parade like Katsucon.
>>10854802The gays in DC are big money spenders and Ota wants a piece of that rainbow bag.
>>10854465Fucking finally it's happening.
I'm thinking about making the drive down there, but even in COVID videos I've seen it's a bit too crowded for my liking.
>>10855070>but even in COVID videos I've seen it's a bit too crowded for my liking. Then don't show up if you are a fucking pussy.
Katsucon > Magfest > Otakon > everything else in the DMVOtakon is more full of sweaty smelly nerds than usual. I'll still go but I might aggressively Febreeze people.
>>10855113Bump...
>>10854602Pretty excited, I signed up for the maid cafe this time after chickening out last year
>>10855113This.
Been thinking of going as my first con since I have a job now and live less than an hour from DC. How does it compare to other cons? Is this a good one to go to alone? I haven't been able to convince anyone I know to come with me, not that any of them are into cons anyway
Don't worry bros, I got so vaccinated I'll have plenty of shedding antibodies for everybody. Y'all gonna get secondhand pfizer'd whether you want it or not!
>>10857094It depends on the type of person you are, I don't mind exploring Otakon by myself, but if literally know one I knew was there I probably wouldn't go. I do think it is one of the better cons I've been to, I've been to Otakon every year since 2014.
>>10854602there's been one every year even the year there wasn't an otakon what the fuck are you talking about?
>>10857177>know oneminor spelling error opinion discarded
>>10857177Yeah, that's kinda the feeling I was having. I'm fine enough shop ing the shit with random people, but I've never been good at finding a group of ransoms and sticking with it. I'll probably still end up going, since I doubt I'll know people who will come with me to a con regardless of when/where it is, but just wanted to get an idea of what to expect at least
>>10857235Yeah even as someone who's never been to Ota yet, that really didn't sound right. I've had meetups at puny local cons before
>>10857177why did it move to DC?
>>10859868They got too big for the Baltimore convention center. Last year they set a record of 40k attendees. If that happened at the BCC the fire marshall would have shut the con down at those numbers.
Did they stop doing vaxx passes finally? I will definitely go and finally get some time off from work too.
I’m looking forward to see Jkid show up at the Con this year now that mask and vaccine mandates are over
>>10860223Great the attendance numbers are going to be very fucking huge.
