Holy Lantern is the most overhyped AP print of all time.
>>
>>10789455
Nta and it is but...I'm so close to giving in to the hype. It's in the same vein as Melty Cream Donuts, Dream Sky, or other prints that have good replicas out in the world where I am not in love with the print but if I ever want to own it I need to buy it direct from AP because I'm terrified of accidentally paying full price for a replica and then reselling it unknowingly.

It is over hyped but clearly re-releasing it every year is working for AP.

I’m really meh on the colors they’re rereleasing and it’s annoying that it’s over-saturating the secondhand market. But at least it’ll be funny seeing people try to coord the orange and failing at it since it’s such a hard color to coord.
>>
>>10789482
Ugh the orange is the worst one. And that shade of orange doesn't even look good on most people, to boot.

Maybe whether the bonnet stands or not is just inconsistent. This photo that was posted the other day shows it can stand.

Maybe it's just the red bonnets with this issue? I think another girl with the red complained about the bonnet not standing too.
>>

Thank god I don't like bonnets, so I only bought the JSK. If this is true though, AP's MTO quality is just going down the drain. It makes me sad.

>>10789633
Ironically, the fur still looks better than the recent AP plush. But I don't have my MTO yet, so I can't say for sure.
>>

I was kind of wanting the bonnet since it was so silly, but now maybe not.

I've just been waiting for days for someone to actually wear it to see how things truly holdup.

This one just looks stupid.

>>

It might be the red, unless everyone else fixed it themselves already or made it look good for the camera. I have to admit, the bonnet looks incredibly cheap, I would pay maybe 3000 yen max for it,
>>
>>
>>10789607
I had the old version and it also did that sometimes. Just a design issue.
>>
>>10789679
Mine didn't do that? The cardboard doesn't flop that easily, or shouldn't. Did you have a worn down bonnet?

I can't find a Baby thread but is it true that the material/texture that they mainly use for their clothing is based on Japanese traditional paper?

>>10789607
looks like a cheap santa claus costume
>>
>>10789482
What color would you want? I personally like the black and pink best
>>
>>10789698
Not all of their fabric is the same. As someone who has done years of book and paper making, my understanding is that traditional Japanese paper is made with longer fibers than some modern western paper that is made from shorter fibered pulps like cotton rag and wood. The texture of washi in particular is light but strong.

Given that, it’s possible some of their fabrics are similar on a surface level to washi paper despite being woven cotton. I do think their thin and light textured cotton that’s commonly used on their prints could have similarities to washi or other traditional textured Japanese papers if you examined it closely. I don’t know if this is intentional though.

This only applies to plant based paper btw, not vellum.

She may not look as bad as she once did but I doubt she stopped restricting. Her skin, hair, eyes and face suggest she still restricts.
She may just have lowered her deficit if she has gained a little weight.

If she started true recovery she would look very different and have obvious recovery signs/symptoms, as soon as one week in. And these symptoms last for up to 6 months.
She doesn't have any so I doubt she has.

She looks like any other woman with AN just trying to manage it and stay alive.
And I don't blame her because eating disorders can be really stubborn and difficult to treat.

And I hate that there are so many people in our community that have them.

You had to buy a ticket to attend. So, unless the person shows up not wearing Angelic Pretty, I don't think AP Paris can say anything about letting someone in or not
>>
>>10790366
They do that with tea parties all the time though.
>>
>>10790394
It’s hard to effectively filter out itas though. Most events do have rules like “no cosplay accessories” and such but everything else is subjective and you can follow the basic rules including main pieces from the brand in question while still looking like a hot mess.
That said with the number of brazen gross sissies apparently increasing, they should have a “no men” rule, AP is a women’s clothing brand that doesn’t carry any sort of menswear. But of course that will never happen.
>>
>>10790273
The proportions of the dress and those platforms make her look like a midget
>>
>>10790416
We can only dream that they'll ban men from attending. And you're right, it's a women's wear brand.
>>
>>10790416
Ironically though the old man that shops at Paris regularly had a normal coord and dresses well, just looks ugly and like a man which he is.

Most of the other itas were women so excluding men doesn't catch them all. They could say all your pieces have to be AP like A-kon did. You have to be wearing brand to buy from their store on release day in Japan among other things. It wouldn't be that hard to filter out the most egregious people and limit the itas to brand itas.
>>
>>10790266
Is he hiding his boner? I feel gross just looking at this photo
>>
>>10790394
The dress code rules for the showroom were the exact same as their usual tea parties, they only ask you to wear an Angelic Pretty main piece, they don't care how ita you look. They never turned down someone for not looking good
>>
>>10790416
AP and Baby will never impose a no men allowed rule. Half the Chinese scalpers and some of their regular tea party attendees like angelic macarons are male.

>>
>>10790446
>they only ask you to wear an Angelic Pretty main piece

Is that really the only restriction? I guess AP SF finally did something better than other stores then requesting people own a full AP coord for that fashion show.

Like I get the shopgirls can't just say "you're ita stay outside" and I can see why they allow some things offbrand but requiring a full or mostly AP coord would have been somewhat helpful to keep a bit of the cringe away.

this is the funniest autist coord and pose i've seen in ages

>>10790258
what the actual fuck, why didn't they kick him out?
>>
>>10790523
I agree some people look like shit but I'd say they don't have to pass as women per se. They just have to actually look well dressed and present in an obviously feminine way if they're doing lolita, or an obvious maaculine (even if boyish or youthful) one if they're doing ouji/aristo.

For example: Mana doesn't look like a woman to me but he looks good as far as how he is dressed, even if I'll never know what his nose bridge looks like.
>>
>>10790424
he's wearing mostly normie clothes though if we're talking about >>10790258
>>
>>10790533
no she's talking about the other one, in all AP
>>
>>10790533
No not him, the much older Frenchman from CoF. He wears a lot of full brand OTT coords and if they were on a female they'd be usually considered normal. He even adds different wigs and styles the hair at times. This guy >>10790262
>>
>>10790486
Probably Jelly Candy Toys
>>
>>10790528
There’s a difference between Mana, who doesn’t look like a woman but does extreme makeup to make it work with his style, and a dumpy troop wearing mostly normy clothes, a cheap wig and no makeup. Hell, the other old dude in the full coord at least wore eyeliner and lipstick, although he also looks creepy af.

To be fair, if a woman who looked the same age as those guys do (late 40’s at the youngest) was wearing AP prints like Sugary Carnival it would be pretty weird too. I’m not saying you have to quit wearing lolita at a certain age but you can pick prints that are more mature and coordinate them in a more demure way. God forbid a 50 year old dude wear solids instead of a dress covered in candy.
>>
>>10790536
>>10790537
ohh i missed that pic
>>
>>10790540
Yeah no one was defending the dumpy dude people were defending men who may look ugly or manly but put in effort like the other guy you mentioned who even does his makeup.
>>
>>10790540
>God forbid a 50 year old dude wear solids instead of a dress covered in candy.
That's how you know they're just larping as little girls and purposefully surrounding themselves with young women
>>
>>10790256
Is it pregnant?
>>
>>10790540
Nonnie idk if you haven't heard but sissies LOVE Gothic and old school sweet and Milano tier solids in both pastels and dark colors. I've been around long enough to see the pics they'd steal most for their fetish shit and the "lolita" inspired regretsy dresses they sell and buy. Female age players are likelier to be into pastel toy prints and shit for their gross kink shit from the creeps I've seen online.

Lolita has been around long enough that no one thinks you have to change how you dress at a certain age anymore because the once young women who pioneered the fashion are adults now and many still love it. Misako is 40 and that other guy is not that far off in age, no one would bat an eye seeing Misako in Sugary Carnival. She even modeled the Nakayoshi Bunny sample recently.

As far as physical appearance goes I'd rather have a well dressed ugly old man than a poorly dressed ugly young girl at my table during a tea party honestly.
>>
>>10790546
If we want to operate with reason and assume some men out there also just like cute things like women, then there's no reason to assume a non ita male is a predator just because he wears sweet. That's like calling all women in lolita adult babies for liking cute shit.

The dude wearing a JSK as a skirt and nodmie ugly clothes can fuck off but it does no good to be against someone who dresses well while accepting overt itas purely because of gender and/or age. Mana is an old man and definitely weird/eccentric. Is he larping as a woman when he does odd things like have female assistants speak for him when he's in lolita?
>>
>>10790553
Mana doesn’t attend tea parties and show up at meets to hang around with young women.
>>10790549
Are you seriously comparing some busted old sissy to Misako? You really can’t see the difference there?
>>
>>10790271
Sauce on that bag?
>>
>>10790560
I know there's a difference. Someone tried to claim older women wearing sweet is just as bad as a man because it would supposedly be shocking and I pointed out that it's untrue using Misako as an example of one of many older older who wear sweet themes in lolita still.

If I could have my way I'd want the entire lolita community to be 18+ or 21+ and women and well dressed. But obviously when discussing AP policy we should look at what is feasible. Saying no men doesn't work because outside of Japan that won't fly so restricting it at least to reasonably dressed men/brolitas or oujis is at least an enforceable standard because while brand itas exist if you require a full brand coord it's less likely the low effort itas who are also the sissies will show up. Clearly the main piece only rule didn't weed out itas well enough.

If you show most people who are not into lolita fashion an ad from the GLB with mana modeling moitie dresses they would guess he's a woman.

Any guy who looks very masculine who makes no attempt to pass whilst in lolita fashion will always be highly suspicious to most lolitas myself included. Their age doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter if they dress well, still suspicious.
French guy has made some very questionable coords in the past (posted on btb), as recent as last year.
His wig looks horrible in the paris AP coord so he's not trying that hard either.
Anyone with money can buy a full coord that goes together by simply buying all of the stuff from the same ad, no creativity needed.
That doesn't mean the guys that "dress well" aren't degenerates who into the fashion for the wrong reason(s).

We've (as a community) learned over the last 22 or so years that some predators have enough money and enough sense to copy brand ads so they dress well, they don't always look like stereotypical sissies with a sissy dress sense.

>>10790327
I've seen like a handful of people in thr lolita community who looks dangerously thin. Almost everyone else is too fucking overweight and obese. This isnt the 90s, being anorexic really isnt some huge issue like it once was. The opposite is true now. People are literally shortening their lifespans because of obesity
>>
>>10790639
The lards in this fashion think anyone less than chubby is an anachan
>>
>>10790617
>no creativity needed.
Creativity is not relevant to wearing a lolita coord. Wearing a fullset is fine. We're all consoomers anyway.

I'd argue the guy is making an attempt to pass but just can't and unless he got surgery on his face and entre body he never will. His only questionable coord that really set gulls off beyond him being old and ugly was a "casual" coord he did with Neon Star Diner skirt I think. It gave off uncanny age play vibes on him but again on a woman no one would have bat an eye. I don't know this dude or like him and would rather he not wear lolita desu but as far as AP weeding out people at events the only way to get rid of him would be to explicitly ban men which isn't likely at their stores in the west.

Mana only looks like a woman to normies that aren't Asian and only see his blurred to shit face. He's dressed in a feminine way for sure but it's clearly the dress, hair, and makeup that makes normkes assume he is a woman. He's quite tall and masculine otherwise.
>>
>>10790640
>>10790639
Earing disorder doesn't mean dangerously thin. Bulimics are often normal sized to chubby. Part of the reason EDs are bad is because of the unhealthy behaviors and not the body looking a specific way.

Side note: there's a lolita who works out all the time and has cute coords and is so cute. I wish more lolitas would be like her. Slim and cute but strong and fit and actually healthy as well.

I'm from europe. Most of my local com isn't overweight. I definitely get the impression that the % of people with restrictive eds (like AN) is higher in the lolita community than it is in the general population.

AN isn't the only ed out there and you don't need to be dangerously thin to have a restrictive ed. You don't need to have a bmi of 16 to have severe effects from AN. Some people die from BN, ednos and atypical AN at bmis that are in the normal range.

Being overweight or obese can also be a sign of disordered eating.
Some fat people engage in binging, emotional eating and stress eating. That's not normal or healthy and it's likely such a person would meet diagnostic criteria for Binge Eating Disorder, BN (if they purge) or ednos.

However I do not think every fat person has an ed. For most fat people it's lifestyle related, not ed or illness related. That's what the statistics say and I agree.

I’m really curious how lolitas in her comm feel about ms thief? Did she get kicked out and is a lonelita now? Did she get welcomed back with open arms?
>>
>>10790687
I have no problem with people wearing full sets. It's rather dumb though if someone hasn't developed the eye to mix and match things from their wardrobe.
That's besides the point though. My point was that you don't need to put any effort into thinking up coords if you just copy brand ads and throw money at it. That's how some sissies dress well.

The french guy did an idol coord and an ita coord with cat ears iirc. Both gave of red flags. I do not need to see a middle aged man's thighs thankyouverymuch
If this is that guy attempting to pass he needs to attempt harder. Female impersonators do a better job just with hair and makeup.

"Mana only looks like a woman to normies that aren't Asian and only see his blurred to shit face" I agree with that.
I don't think he looks masculine otherwise though. But that's very subjective.

>you don't need to be dangerously thin to have a restrictive ed.
kek yes you fucking do, it's literally part of the diagnosis.

>Some people die from BN, ednos and atypical AN at bmis that are in the normal range.

are you joking? how? your health is only at risk if you're actually losing weight, unless you're some kind of womanchild that only eats cheese and bread for every meal and malnourishes yourself. even that wont really kill you though, because millions of poors already do that.
>>
>>10790860
"kek yes you fucking do, it's literally part of the diagnosis"
There are more restrictive eds than just AN.
BN is also a restrictive ed because the purging behavior is an attempt to limit calorie absorption.
Ednos (now called osfed) usually contains restrictive behavior.
Atypical AN always includes restriction.

The only ed that has a weight criteria is AN, the weight criteria is currently "Restriction of energy intake relative to requirements leading to a significantly low body weight in the context of age, sex, developmental trajectory, and physical health."
It is up to the dr to decide what that means for the patient. This means that a patient can be diagnosed with AN at a bmi of 19 if that bmi is significantly low bodyweight for them, in the context of what's healthy for their body.
Granted most normal bmi patients would be diagnosed with atypical AN or ednos if all criteria for AN are met except for the weight criteria. People with atypical AN have lost a significant amount of weight, they just haven't met the weight criteria at the moment of diagnosis yet.
This is usually true for ednos as well.

"your health is only at risk if you're actually losing weight, "
Both malnutrition and being underweight can kill people.
If we ignore suicide for now most people that die because of BN complications die because of heart problems as a result of mineral deficiencies. This can happen even if they maintain a normal bmi.
It's their behavior that leads to these issues, not their weight.
Binging and purging can also kill people when they rupture their GI tract.
People with BN, atypical AN, ednos and AN can all die because of organ failure as a result of malnutrition.

Poor people who are underweight because they don't have access to adequate nutrition aren't trying to lose weight (most of the time), and they will eat food when the opportunity presents itself. This is very different from people with eds because eds are self destructive mental disorders.
>>
>>10790825
This. She probably still has a few lolita friends from her comm, the ones who were harassing anyone who was against their bestie. Not forgetting that they were guilt tripping/claiming the thief is too ill and weak to steal, it's not her fault and she might now be suicidal, despite them sending pretty shitty DMs. I remember seeing a lot of lolitas in their stories expose them.
>>
>>10790688
dunno who you're talking about but working out all the time is a form of ED as well you know...
>>
>>10790902
When I say all the time I mean going to the gym regularly, most people I engage with in lolita fashion don't go to the gym at all.

Regular exercise is literally something doctors tell you to do to stay healthy and not age poorly, a couple of hours at the gym a few days a week are not inherently ED symptoms kek
>>
>>10790975
just found it funny you were talking about how eating disorders don't always just mean anorexia and then the next sentence almost sound like you're encouraging someone with implied exercise bulimia kek
>>
>>10790985
I literally said EDs are such because their behavior is extremely unhealthy, then mentioned someone who is publicly behaving in a healthy way (regular exercise and physical fitness). Others mentioned someone similar.

I'm sorry you're so ESL, fat, or brain damaged from your ED that you think exercising has to be disordered behavior in every instance.
>>
>>10790992
saying someone works out all the time in the middle of a discussion about disordered eating was a weird choice of words for you to use then

but this has nothing to do with AP. Bunny pocket sold out online in 2 seconds. Why do I bother trying?
>>
>>10790985
>implied exercise bulimia
holy shit, how fat are you? regular exercise is not "exercise bulimia" you twitterbrained retard
>>
>>10790880
>using quotes instead of greentext
holy shit the newfaggotry

Malnutrition is extremely hard to die from in a first world country, if you are eating enough food to be a healthy weight. You would have to specifically have an eating disorder that involves eating the same exact nutrient-less garbage for every single meal. Having an "eating disorder" while you weigh a normal weight and eat a variety of food will not kill you kek. You fatasses just want to feel oppressed.
>>
>>10791004
I'm not going to spoonfeed you a load of text about mortality statistics and health risks associated with the different types of eds. You can figure it out yourself by reading relevant pages on https://scienceofeds.org/

People with restrictive eds typically restrict calories and food types which leads to malnutrition. If they keep this up long enough without intervention it will lead to serious health risks and eventually death.
They also typically do fringe diets that reduce protein and/or fat intake to almost zero. This will eventually kill you even if you eat TDEE calories.
If you think people with eds generally have enough sense to care about having a balanced diet you are dead wrong hahahaha.
And even if they do it's fear that will keep them from eating anything outside of their continuously decreasing list of safe foods.

I forgot how ignorant regular people are about eds, thanks for the laugh.
There is no specific ed that involves eating the same thing every meal, they all tend to suffer from this to some extent.
>>
>>10791035
Sure anon. imagine being retarded enough to have an ED where you get malnourished because you only eat the same exact nutrient-deficient microwaved chicken nuggies for every meal, but not even being good enough at it that you actually lose weight. At that point you're just a pathetic womanchild who deserves your fate kek

I thought it would be JCT this week t b h. I bought some accessories during the Paris anniversary and they probably won’t arrive until a couple of weeks after the jp release. I’m impatient.

It almost seems like this week’s release was thrown together at the last minute bc supply chain issues. The ugly gingham JSKs and Sailor Marine Kitten are Granba leftovers surely?

Sometimes it's good to take a look at whatever BABY's releasing the same week. Both brands will occasionally release similar dresses at the same time. They just released their own Usakumya (Bunny) Pocket series the day before.

Yes, having an ed is retarded. I never claimed otherwise.

All people with eds who restrict calories and food types (and some indeed only eat microwaved chicken nuggies, we nickname those people junk food anas) do continue to lose weight. CICO still exists.
Some of them die or get hospitalized before they reach underweight bmi though.
The people with eds who remain weight stable in the normal weight range tend to have BN.
BN can kill people of any weight because of the aforementioned heart issues and GI rupture.

Old topic, but does anyone else just refuse to buy a print if it's on polyester?
I'm at that point now, and it feels bad passing on things like Happy Garland or Jelly Candy Toys, but polyester has no appeal to me (unless it's being used for a design element like chiffon, etc). I remember missing out on Ice Cream Parlor because I was too slow and being sad, but now I'm happy I didn't spend money on it.

why not make them real?

>>
>>10791225
In general I don’t mind poly. I find it easier to store and care for - it tends to resist wear/tear/fading etc. a lot better than cotton. It lends itself well to bright, all-over prints e.g. JCT, Fancy Candy

On the other hand some prints would’ve looked so much better on cotton. Cherry Stamp comes to mind immediately.

I 100% skip prints if it's been printed on viyella. (Like Flower Garden Teatime).

If it's grosgrain like those prints you mentioned, I'm fine with them. The feel is fine, doesn't wrinkle, and won't fade.
>>
>>10791819
Me too, Grosgrain isn’t great but a little more tolerable. I’m slowly selling off all my older dresses in viyella because I don’t like how they feel.

Though after being an AP stan for so many years, it’s finally gotten to the point where I’ve given up on buying from them. Everything lately had cheap feeling materials and/or weird fit issues in general. Even the accessories.
>>
>>10791859
>Though after being an AP stan for so many years, it’s finally gotten to the point where I’ve given up on buying from them
Are you me?
In general I've only been buying the accessories. Then I stopped buying OTKs because of the zero stretch issue. Even the necklaces got weirdly longer, so they hang too low on the bodice of most dresses? (I swear I'm going to add my own jump rings and lobster clasp to wear them shorter).
I still call myself an AP whore, but I don't know how true that is anymore when I'm fighting for decade old dresses secondhand and hardly ever participate in new releases (minus MTOs)
I even gave nu AP a chance - bought a new blouse, hated it. Bought a new plush bag, hated it. Saw dresses IRL, hated it. And now even the MTOs are having quality issues. AP might legitimately be the reason I quit the fashion (if I ever do).

>>
>>10792144
I hate the design personally. Cute in theory but the text is too close to the edges of the hearts. Most of the colorways of the ring are like that too, with squished text. I would rather they release a new version with Angelic Pretty or something cute on it with a single heart like this colorway of the ring.

If AP used a tougher material and charged a little extra for that, most people would be fine with it. It's irritating to buy something that just deterorates. I'm going to start buying indie bags from now on.

>>

Oh man I totally forgot about this.
The Moco Moco Bunny wristcuffs were kind of a disaster. I somehow managed to get three colorway at release, and they were all different sizes. One colorway was actually snug, while the others were so loose that they freely spun around my wrists.
I'm not sure about other releases though, because I haven't bought many new wristcuffs.
>>
>>10792502
I got the new Marshmallow Border OTKs when the SC MTO happened and they were so weirdly tight on my legs but also really thin and plasticky that I sold them immediately after trying them on. I have a bunch of older AP otks that are super thick and cozy but these were shit.

>>10792505
Same. The last OTKs I bought were the rerelease of Melody Toys. I felt like I was ripping them apart by just pulling them up my leg.

Ugh the soft pleather is so awful. The first and only AP bag I got was a basic black heart shape and it peeled so badly I never bought another bag from them. I didn't know there was a hard pleather used for some of the bags, I just assumed that everyone didn't use their bags except to take photos with.
>>
>>10792986
The harder pleather was used in the early 2000’s until about 2008-2009ish. I don’t remember exactly when they changed it. It’s shinier and thicker but it holds up super well. I have bags that are in like new condition even after being used for years. I refuse to buy any bags from AP that aren’t made out of this after seeing how the new ones flake. I think that they might have stopped manufacturing this kind of pleather or something because they changed the materials for bags long before the rest of their quality went to shit.
I have heard that the glitter pleather bags hold up, which makes sense since it has the similar shiny look and smooth texture.
>>
>>10792986
>>10793060
Stupid question here, but is this bag made out of the soft pleather everyone is talking about?
I don't buy many AP bags that aren't plush, and my only other comparison is the Dream Fantasy bag in the New Years/lucky pack set (it's extremely soft pleather and literally started flaking the moment I took it out of it's original packaging in 2018. I bought it new/never worn/still had the little wrap around the shoulder strap to keep it tied together).

Just get baby wristcuffs if you want pastel pink
>>
>>10793324
I wanted pink and red tulle lace specifically. For solids or pink and brown and toechon lace of all colors I've found some great BTSSB ones I already own.
>>
>>10793324
Nta, but most baby wristcuffs are just white lace and pink ribbons.

If you want cuffs that are pink x pink or pink x another color besides white, you'll usually have to look at AP's.
>>
>>10793175
yes endless mtos of classic dresses pleeeease. why does ap not want the insane amounts of money they would make from those? the west, china, and japan are all over the mtos every time and china by itself must make them a good million on just one mto
>>
>>10793257
>>10793162
The sleeves are really cute, but I wish they added more to the rest of it...
Should've added some buttons and lace down the center
>>
>>10793365
They can't handle endless MTOs. They're a logistics nightmare with the amount of reservations and address changes they have to keep track of. Plus their factories can only handle so many orders at once, and delays are another customer service nightmare. Two MTOs already got delayed this year because of unforeseen circumstances.
>>
>>10793438
I think Baby's system of doing smaller reservations of re-releases on an ongoing basis is working well for them. They seem able to honor their old designs and quality, while tapping into a cash cow. Their reputation is preserved. AP should consider going that way.
>>
>>10793438
they outsource to countries like philippines and myanmar for many of their mtos so it has nothing to do with the factories not being able to handle it. those third world factories take whatever is thrown at them. they could always outsource the other jobs too since it's not like they have an issue with exploitative labor
>>
>>10793438
Except you can tell AP isn't drowning in MTOs.
They put the HL MTO back up at the beginning of this week, practically begging people to order out of FOMO. If they were struggling to provide MTOs, they'd probably be a little bit more careful about which ones to release to bring in money, and HL for the 5th or whatever time is the stupidest pick.
I agree there can't be infinite MTOs, but they could definitely do more. The only reason they had any trouble was Shanghai shutting down for 1+ month.
>>
>>10793542
I don’t think they have the logistics to have too many MTOs in production at once. It seems like it’s generally 3-5 at once with 2-3 months between them. I think this is to make sure they don’t flood the stores with dresses waiting to get picked up and not getting too many in at once that need to be shipped. If things were running more smoothly as far as production and shipping, it would probably be possible for a few more, but with the supply chain and shipping backed up all over the world, it causes delays and throws off the whole schedule.
I agree that they’d be better off picking different dresses for MTOs. I think they expected Holy Lantern to sell a lot because it sold well before, but to a degree the market is flooded with it. Was Sugary Carnival cotton? It seems like they are hesitant to release prints on cotton, maybe they are limited in how much they can get printed, or they don’t want to do it because it’s more expensive and they don’t want to raise the prices, since I’m sure most people would be fine paying more for cotton. Did Japanese and Chinese lolitas complain about Honey Cake being poly for the MTO? If that’s the case, I can see them thinking they need to use cotton for rereleases of cotton dresses (as they should). I’m trying to rationalize why they aren’t picking old and popular prints that would sell more dresses than something that’s been released 5 times already.
>>
>>10793764
>Was Sugary Carnival cotton?
no
>Did Japanese and Chinese lolitas complain about Honey Cake being poly for the MTO?
no. so many ap dresses are poly today precisely because asian lolitas prefer it, it saves space in their overcrowded countries
>>
>>10793814
What? The Sugary Carnival MTO was cotton.
>>
>>10793820
anon is just parroting shit she's heard and didn't fact check anything.
>>
>>10793814
I'd rather continue to have my cotton dresses in the limited space of my wardrobe (which most people don't even have) than buy poly, these people are crazy.
>>
>>10793930
Hard same.
I rather take up space with quality, than save space by buying something inferior.
>>
>>10793814
We've had this conversation before but poly doesn't actually save that much space compared to light cotton with no inbuilt petti

>>10793948
yeah but the point is it won't wrinkle as much in a tightly stuffed closet. still prefer cotton, though.
>>
>>10793542
AP rereleases their iconic chiffon prints at very common intervals. Cotton print rereleases come up fewer times per year and you will rarely see the same cotton print get yearly rereleases aside from Melody Toys for some reason. I could be talking out of my ass, but it seems like chiffon/poly rereleases are easier to produce or less of a risk for AP.

>>10793512
You can grapple with the morals of buying from a company that uses exploitative labor yourself, but do you think that AP using cheap labor means they have infinite resources. They still have to make sure the factories they produce at are producing work at the quality they want and are capable of handling the complicated details AP's pieces have, which aren't in infinite supply. This isn't shein that will ship out whatever garbage their workers can sew in under five minutes.

I was at Haenuli's panel at Tekko. People were asking about her releasing items in cotton rather than poly. Here's a few things she brought up. Keep in mind, she's much smaller as an indie brand. She's not going to have the same overhead as AP.

- Cotton requires a LOT of waste to get it printed. From growing the cotton, to producing it, dying and adding a custom print. It's a difficult and wasteful process. This adds a lot to cost. It might disintigrate over time rather than release plastic fibers. But it's still wasteful (as well as expensive.)

- Poly is much easier to print on, requires less waste and resources, and therefore costs much less. Again, still made of plastic. But if you have a high demand for an item, poly is going to be a more cost-effective choice as it can be produced quickly and cheaply.

This is probably why AP keeps pumping out the chiffon re-releases and does cottom much less frequently. It's just more reliable from a business perspective.

Either way, you're going to get waste and pollution no matter what material. But I feel better overall about buying lolita rather than normie fast fashion. It's going to last longer. It is constructed with more care. I'm not washing it as frequently (layering so it doesn't get dirty).
>>
>>10794163
>It is constructed with more care
Imagine saying this in an AP thread, their quality control in particular conoared to other brands has gone downhill recently

>>10794163
>I'm not washing it as frequently
The entire planet is on fire if you're wearing lolita anywhere but the arctic your dead skin and sweat is getting on your clothes nonny. Wash your fucking clothes before AP releases another laundry print.
>>
>>10794163
>>10794212
>your dead skin and sweat is getting on your clothes
This, please wash your clothes. The sweat and dead skin builds up and yellows your clothes slowly over time. You won’t see it right away and might think it’s fine, but check back months later and your seemingly clean clothes will have yellowed. I learned my lesson about this when I was younger and was my clothes after every wear now.

Nta but she looks clean and normal. She didn't take a selfie she was filming how dumb the bonnet looks with no structure. She's not done up because it was a demonstration not a real coord shot I'm assuming.

The girl in the screenshot isn't even the person who posted her apparently. I saw the IG story shared by someone else before it even appeared itt.
