If not for the butterfly wings, this would be a beautiful coord.

what an awful thread
>>10776491At least it has variety in style instead of just print.
>>10776451Everyone is an individual and they're going to like what they like. Not everyone wants only Japanese Brand name Lolita.
>>10776451You can't force other people to stick to one brand/style in a fashion. As long as they follow the rules, such as skirt length, a proper blouse, wearing OTKs/UTKs/Tights and proper shoes why should it matter where they got their coord/dress from? If they aren't outright mis-dressing and look like a complete ita then who tf cares. And taobao doesn't always automatically = ita.
Misako modeled for Elpress L, even she has worn Taobao

>>10776514What are their dresses even like in real? Looking at the images from the review sections always gave me the impression the actual product is frumpy as heck.
>>10776633Nameless Poem is solid, it’s a nice thick construction. I know there are shorty replicas around, and I think it gets a bad rap from itas trying to over coord it. The beauty is in its simplicity. It needs to be worn like a boz op, not shoehorned OTT>>10776635Ayrt, ah yeah I didn’t see that lace at first glance. It is bad, but I’ve removed pieces like that from dresses with reasonable success. I just really love that collar detail
Délicate set from Aloïs Wang
>>10776666god this looks terrible.
Fluff Mollie is probably one of my favorite sweet c brands, they are slightly chaotic but i think their details are cute And yes I’m sharing cute weibo snaps because they fun to look at
>>10776669I don’t think it looks Terrible? Sometimes I wonder if people just say that to be contrarian
>>10776670I love their acessories and blouses, etc. Not so much a fan of most taobao main pieces bc I can't pull of the light airy look most poly dresses are going for.
>>10776671you cut off the sad, cheap roses.
>>10776597Na, I embrace the "trash" taobao "ita" bullshit. Not living my life for Lol-litists. Go be an elitist somewhere else.
this thread proves that you'll never please everyone, much less anyone but yourself, that's just how tastes workwear whatever you want just follow the damn rules
>>10776454This is actually cute.
>>10776666>>10776671I'll start by saying that this is definitely not the worst dress in the thread and there's parts of it that I like. The issues are notably that the rosettes and pearl beads look very craft-store, the green beads are out of place, I'd expect the ribbons to fray, the lace insets are poor quality, the main fabric looks shiny and scratchy and thin (particularly in other photos I've seen of this dress), the lace on the inside of the bonnet is rather sorry-looking and it looks like they may have used that same lace on the top of the bodice. The issue with affordable lolita is when they try to look extravagant, there's a higher risk that it'll look awkward due to the quality of the materials and construction. It makes some of us lose our suspension of disbelief, of the fantasy of lolita, of owning a genuine garment to wear out and about. It becomes more fake, make-believe, a costume. Costumes are designed to be seen on a stage or in a photo and worn only a couple of times. There's not a priority of comfort or longevity or realism because that's not what it's for. They're often have weird OTT designs, are using cheap fabric & trimmings, are unlined, have messy seams inside, have tension issues, are scratchy or constricting, with accessories held on by a couple loose stitches. Example of tension issues: pic related is something from Alois Wang I pulled off LM, so not a promotional pic. Notice the puckering in the princess seams and around the hem? Also unvetted brands are concerning because it's all too common that the product you get is going to be much more hastily constructed than the ones in the pictures, if they even use the same materials or pattern at all. If you're buying willy-nilly off Taobao you also risk them using a picture from another designer and them just guessing at it, so who knows what you'll get.I will concede that if your priorities lie in a place where costumey is fine for you, the whole point is irrelevant.
>>10776497Maid Lolita deserves more love than it gets.
>>10776707Moonlight Forest ~ Kittens in Cloud KingdomThe print is adorable
>>10776496Ok but so many of the things you posted look cheap and ugly. I like the idea of this thread but you aren't even posting sources or adding much interesting commentary. I just don't really get the point honestly.
>>10776706I guess I just always tend to remove pieces that I don’t care for (like the green leaves), and usually the dresses price point give me an idea of what I’m going to get. I’m not going to die on any hill for any of these dresses, just that I thought they were cute. Thanks for your response that is much more helpful than “this is hideous”
>>10776666This is beautiful.
>>10776713I'm glad you appreciated my wall of text. It's kind of the unfortunate catch-22 that it takes some time to learn how to notice these details, and also by noticing these details it makes it harder to enjoy things. >>10776742No, no, let her buy the dresses. It'll be funny when she appears on the ita threads and spergs out
I don't get the Taobao hate, with APs Chinese market pandering and all the poly shit they have been pumping out of China and SEA, they're practically on par anyway. The Jap brands pushed me away themselves, I'm not paying $300 - $400 for a dress made in the same damn factories that make $100 dresses I actually like.
>>10776756I buy secondhand from back when they were quality
>>10776710That’s actually really cute and looks good for a casual coordI’m worried about the material and praying its not shitty poly, gonna check that brand out thanks anon
feel like an unfortunate number of chinese brands ruin their pieces with the addition of one particularly ugly detail
>>10776756Newbies like you comparing AP don't quite understand that even if we dog on AP's quality in the AP thread, it's still not as dog shit as taobao brands. There's still way more elements of what you get from AP that is going to be better than the majority of what you see in this thread.I would advise newbies to stop using this argument, because it's not the take you think it is. It looks relatively misguided. Just look at the majority of these photos, half of what you're going to get is a worse version of it. That's only one part of the battle that you're fighting against.
wanted this dress but it sold out before my shopping service did their job
>>10776742Glad I don't post pictures of myself online nonnie.
>>10776769didn't think the black colorway was bad either
>>10776756Amen, this, right here! It doesn't even make any sense when they're all manufactured in the same place any way and with the Chinese brands there is way more styles to choose from for less money. I'd rather have seven different styled/unique dresses to rotate through the week that are taobao as long as they aren't shit quality, than only two Jap brand dresses that can be coorded only a few ways. Where's the fun in that?
>>10776763Couldn't you make alterations if you really wanted to though?
>>10776772>as long as they aren't shit qualityyes. that's the problem.
>>10776451I kinda like this one
>>10776850Forgot the most important thing
>>10776760Oh I love my older AP pieces, but its just sad there's nothing new I want to buy from them.>>10776764Literally been wearing lolita since '09 but okay.. AP doesn't even match prints at the seams which I have even seen the shittest tier Taobao brands do. Sure you can't compare AP to a $30 Taobao dress as of course its going to be better, but there are fuck all difference quality wise between a "high end" Taobao brand and recent AP. Their prints have been shit and the cuts have been boring and nothing special. If you want to pay $$$ money for APs recent releases, go ahead, you're scamming yourself. AP themselves know its shit thats why they're pumping out the re-releases trying to claw people back instead of just going and making decent items again and cutting into their profit margin hahaha>>10776772Honestly, I compare all of my pieces to my 15+ year old pieces. Does the Taobao quality match? Nope. Does the Jap brands quality still match? In most cases, also nope. If I am wasting my money on plastic shit, its going to be cheap plastic shit from Taobao. When the Jap brands start making cotton items out of Japan again then I will start buying. But as long as they are making polyester dresses in China and SEA then its no fucking different than Taobao other than the price you pay.
>>10776854this isn't lolita.
>>10776883Also is it even taobao? Is this Pink House inspired or just actual Pink House? I know Misako models for taobao brands sometimes but this looks like it's one of her official collab things with Pink House.
The model looks like she wants to murder me. Strawberry detailing on the skirt is the main thing that gives this dress character.
>>10776898>>10776898i wonder if it's that pink house "leftovers" shop using an official photo or something.
Every single time I see this dress I wonder if it could ever be coorded in a way that makes it look like less of a clusterfuck.
>>10776902Oh yeah maybe. Sucks if someone doesn't know it's a replica and buys it unintentionally.
>>10776910want to like this so bad, maybe with a different headpiece
skirt length w/ lolita these days seems to be an issue, even some dresses from Atelier Pierrot recently have shorter than usual skirts

>>10776932it's not a separate blouse, genius. and how does that change the cat ears on the dress itself?
>>10776938You can omit the tit window blouse and the collar with the bell. Unpopular opinion, but I think the cat ears on the dress are actually cute.

ITT: cosplay lolita
>>10776943What I've always wondered is why do elite-fags care so much about what other people spend their money on, and what types of dresses they choose to wear. A lot of these poor bitches have never heard of the term "live and let live"

>>10776947If you're not dressing up as a character, it doesn't count as cosplay- that's like the whole point.
>>10776951my god, we've gotten to the point where newfags have completely taken over that this term now is re-invented by them where they think cosplay is an acceptable form of lolita.
>>10776950What movie/anime/comic book are all these models' dresses from, I'd really love to know Karen.
>>10776952"the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game." Keep trying, the term clo-lita doesn't hold any weight unless it's accurate. I always assumed it mean "clown-lita" like your outfit makes you look like a clown ass bitch, not like it makes more sense or anything.
>>10776952>https://lolita-tips.tumblr.com/faqsince it feels like the only thing you can do anymore is spoonfeed these retards.
>>10776953>>10776951You know cosplay OCs exist, right faggot?

>>10776957Yeah, but that's not the intent of this thread or the people who are posting in it, we're not larp-fags. We just like the dresses.
>>10776959Anon, there's a lot of cosplay lolita in this thread. I understand you're new, but you need to sit down and shut up and listen to people who are trying to tell you what you should not be wearing and calling "lolita," because it's fucking not lolita.
>>10776956That's an opinion. You're not going to convince other people to change their minds just because you don't like something doesn't mean everyone in the whole fashion has to agree with you. Some of you need to get off your high horses and realize that for the fashion to evolve and grow there's going to need to be variety. An earlier anon even said they've been wearing lolita since '09 and they even don't like the crap AP has been doing, and I agree- I don't like a lot of the recent releases from AP or BTTSB or most of the other J-brands. You're not gonna dictate what we spend our money on, no matter how much you bitch and cry about what you think of the quality, it's not your money, it's ours.
>>10776959cosplay lolita is a very old term. hell, there are two decade old infographics referring to it.>https://lolitafashion.fandom.com/wiki/Cosplay_Lolita#:~:text=Cosplay%20Lolita%20(%E3%82%B3%E3%82%B9%E3%83%AD%E3%83%AA)%20is%20the,Lolita%20for%20purely%20cosplay%20purposes.like you zoomers are always saying, educate yourself.
>>10776961Then the next time someone asks, I'll just call it "j-fashion". This thread could've been called "taobao shit dresses" omitting Lolita. Still wouldn't really change much. Some people will like what they like.
Can't wait for this
>>10776962no one said to buy brand, just develop taste. it doesn't take money to develop a sense of taste, which is too bad because then i would pay for all of you itas to fix your shit.
>>10776967Again, you're being a piece of shit anon. We're all induvials and aren't going to have the same taste. Someone isn't going to change their entire likes and dislikes just because a bunch of bitches on the internet told them it sucks. If it makes us happy, then quite frankly fuck off.
>>10776966This is so cute, the little lambs on the dress. My heart.
>>10776972if you don't like my opinion, then you're free to ignore it, but if it's bothering you this much then you're not mature enough to get criticism for your shit preferences. anyone is free to wear whatever they want, but they'll get shat on if they look bad, how is that complicated? no one owes you to be nice, just like you don't owe anyone to wear what they want you to. understand?
>>10776963>This may mean that they are cosplaying as a character who wears Lolita or Lolita-like fashions, a Lolita version of a character, a heavily themed Lolita outfit, or are simply wearing Lolita for purely cosplay purposes.None of these dresses are from anime, movies, comic books or the like. Once again, it's not cosplay. They're meant to be worn as everyday outfits, they're not from a series like black butler or sailor moon so that does not apply to anything posted here.
>>10776979Do you not know how to read? Are you ESL? Do you understand what commas are for?

of course this taobao ita thread would be full of newfags. let them buy their weird ageplay upholstery garbage, more brand for us, honestly. they will just get posted to the ita thread and not understand why. why help them?
>>10776978Also, you've literally been following me and a few other anons around the board repeating the same shit about not having to be nice to anyone. At this point I'm going to assume you're projecting. No one wants to associate with induvial who treat others the way you probably do, hell you keep starting shit and derailing threads for elitist asspats and it's not a good look.
>>10776990They won't if they listen to the advice of never posting pictures of their threads publicly online so they can't get picked to pieces by you nutjobs. Btw, heads up to any noobs stalking this thread, keep your social media private, especially your instagram, if you're gonna publicly post coords that aren't muh burando, then cover your face with a sticker so you don't have to be humiliated.
>>10776989>>10776988Not to rain on your newfag parade, but yes, a decade ago that would have been considered potentially ita because of the ears. If you don't understand the nuances, then I can't help you, but acting like retards isn't helping your case. Just take criticism, mean or not, in stride, instead of meeting it in the same mean spirited tone you're complaining about. This is what I don't understand about some of you lot, you stoop to the same level as the people you're whining about. But you'll learn with maturity(hopefully) how stupid that is.
Anyone, go check the ita thread and tell me how many taobao pieces you see, other than it mainly being sissy's, genderspecial snowflakes, and bad coords. It's never about the quality of the dress or where it comes from, it's about the coordination and everything being pleasing to the eye. That being said, what's ita to you is meerly subjective considering this thread's lunatic replies. If it tiks all the boxes of modesty and the rules set by the fashion, there should be no issue. Honestly a broken record at this point.
>>10777000Why don't you do that, then you'll realize why brand itas are explicitly called out as brand itas.
>>10777001No they aren't actually
why do you never see green dresses in the fashion?

>>10777007The major j-brands all the elite-fags pander to are going to produce whatever will make them the most money, so they're not going to design outside the box/release new prints that often because they're afraid it'll hurt their profits.
something many anons ITT are missing is that a lot of this stuff looks bad WITHOUT even taking brand or lolita itself into consideration. take >>10777003 it looks very weird. without the bottom layer of the skirt, it would be an okay 50s inspired normie dress, but with it, it looks like you're layering 2 dresses together. same with >>10776901 the construction itself is strange, without even considering lolita, so of course it won't look good as lolita. having an aesthetic sense is something most lolitas are really lacking in, that's why itas exist. that's why people hate that shoehorned in star underskirt. or why you have itas wearing candy accessories with an ocean print. it's the difference between looking weird to looking mentally ill. and people who get it, get it. people who don't, well they whine about bullies. but you will be bullied, not because you're not wearing brand, or because you're fat, or gender special, or a man, or a tranny, or too tall or too short or even too sexy. but because other people who are trying to dress just as weird as you are have eyes and can see you look like a nutjob.
>>10777012>maid lolitaGet out.
>>10777015Yeah, but what if, just wait for it-I'm not fat, trans, gender special, a man or a tranny/too sexy. And I don't put random ass accessories/shoes/bags/tights/otks/utks that do not match with my coord on. That's the point I've been making this whole damn time. Coord it correctly, not ita, doesn't matter if its taobao or not.Andf FYI I've never been posted as an ita because my coords have never been ita, I've posted to the r/lolita subreddit a million times over. Trying to reason with a lot of you is pointless, I've tried to explain that this fashion has to change, the way you treat people has to or you're just gonna keep driving people away and that's going to hurt the fashion in the long term. You'll build a negative reputation and people won't even want to try, all the bitchy replies prove my point.

real shit before i drop money into BTSSB, can anyone recommend me some QUALITY old school taobao? i just want to see what i can do with old school before going all the way in
>>10777144Same league, it isn't a J-brand
>>10777139Infanta has some good options for old school, this JSK is a good example
>>10777139antique doll jsk from souffle song
I love Surface Spell, personally. I'm a sucker for jacquard prints, as well as brocade
>>10777160OFC the pic dropped
>>10777120DI is a reseller. They sell from a variety of brands so their offerings are going to be very inconsistent in terms of style and quality. Also, they mark up their items whatever they feel like pretty much. 120%, 150%, 300%, it just varies product to product. Also iffy customer service. Ideally you want to find the original store it comes from so you don't have to resort to giving them money
>>10777167Oh that makes a lot more sense. Thank you. I'll see if I can find the dress.
>>10777147It isn't a j brand but it's hardly clolita either, it's Korean indie. Much more expensive than the vast majority of things here and much better quality.
>>10777143>>10777210wait is haenuli actually coming back? guess i'm behind here
>>10777219Not that I know of. I wasn't saying they were, was just saying I don't think it's fair to compare it to most of the stuff in this thread!
>>10777219She's doing a Winnie the Pooh release (official collab?) but I don't think she's gonna be back back.
>>10777210>>10777234Isn't it a good thing that they're trying to revive the "quality offbrand" intentions of the thread?
>>10777274it doesn't belong here that'd be like putting maxicimam here...
>>10777305I guess if the goal of the thread is low cost, Haenuli can get pretty up there. I guess what I really want is a thread of indie/off-brand/dresses that aren't just the big names we see over and over
>>10777323if cost was a consideration half the stuff wouldn't be here. elpress costs as much as brand through tb and more then brand via a reseller.
Alright that's all I've got for today. R8 my dump
>>10777151>souffle songThey asked for high quality suggestions, anon.
>>10777375Can vouch for Cute Q cardis, they're soft and actually cotton. They seem to run large though so be aware of that. That might be good news for some of I guess lol
>>10777444Nice to hear that they're cotton. What size and color did you get? I found this low res pic with the idea of wearing it underneath a jsk and I couldn't decide if it was a good idea or not.
>>10777446I didn't get that particular one, I actually got pic related with short sleeves. To clarify, mine is part cotton part viscose, it's breathable and light with a bit of a silky quality. They have a detailed breakdown of materials so I don't doubt that the cotton is actually there lol as opposed to some other stores (I've literally seen places list shit as imitation cotton instead of just saying poly). My shoulders are 40 cm so I got the large and it was a little loose in the shoulders, sleeves, and bust. If you usually order an L for most blouses, I would maybe size down, or double check measurements carefully at least.
>>10777323That's what this thread is meant for
>>10777512no it's not. it's so poorfags can cope
>>10777514Alright then negative Nancy
>>10776505god I hate this dress with a fiery passion every time I see it
Diehard Sanrio fan, the dress is cotton too. Honestly thinking of getting all three colorways.
I bought this dress a long time ago and I have such a love/hate relationship with it. I look back and feel I should've opted for something more casual.
>>10777522you should have had a hate relationship with it and not bought it.
>>10777550Well can't go back in time now can we. Crying over spilled milk ain't gonna fix shit.
>>10777513It's Hydrangea in Space by Strawberry Witch.https://lolibrary.org/items/taobao-strawberry-witch-hydrangea-in-space-skirt
>>10777521I've only seen really bad coords with the Kuromi colorway. I'd like to see all three coordinated well, especially the Cinnamoroll colorway.
>>10777522does it make the home also comfortable?
>>10777626I smell a google translate
>>10777612Why do itas always flock to kuromi? She deserves better.
>>10777612The Cinnamoroll is definitely the best design when putting away the character itself. The scatter print is a bit harsh on the other two.
>>10777735kuromi and my melody are the zoomer egirl "dark and kawaii" duality obsession. i know their characters are meant to be that, but they were never this popular outside japan before. so ita edgy-chans flock to kuromi. sanrio even put out an edgy kuromi pop song.
>>10777147Meh haenuli fabric and trim sucks. It's ok until you see it in person
>>10777149This dress looks awful
>>10777456this is actually cute and I'd wear it with normie clothes as well
>>10777835My melody isn't an edgelord don't bring her into this ita bullshit
>>10777857learn to read, retard.
>>10777086Have it and imo it's better worn in spring or autumn, unless you want to get a heat stroke.
>>10777837This is a link to a reseller; I don't know the original Taobao store name, but here.https://www.my-lolita-dress.com/The-Stars-Jelly-Sweet-Lolita-JSK-Salopette-Pre-order-p1836087.html
>>10777839you could say the same about current ap, sadly enough
I was going to do a dump of gothic and dark classic items, but the thread has reached image limit. Is there an interest for a second thread?
>>10777410i see this on lace market all the time so i kinda assume somethings wrong with it that makes people wanna resell >>10777372this is so cute i have a dress from ichigo mikou and the quality is so good>>10777367cute
>>10778130Thanks for the validation of my taste, anon. Weird about the house jsk, I wish I could hear from one of those owners.
>>10777456BTW I responded to this in the new thread, if you're still monitoring this one.
