Exactly one month til FanimeOne more month left to get those cosplays, travel arrangements, accommodations, and or panels ready folks!
>Fanime

>FanimeCon
>>10758468>>10758309>>10754457>>10756920>>10740120>>10753961Would you kindly fuck off already? Questions about very specific issues that can be answered in one post are annoying but at least they're from different people who have probably never been here. This, on the hand, is clearly the same person who's been at this for months now making threads about a billion cons (most of which no one cares about, as evidenced by the generic OP messages and lack of engagement) for no explicable reason
>>10756938Bump
>>10756962>they want you to mask outside in front of the convention center
You fuckers used to love Fanime. Mutiple threads for the con.
>>10758592There have always been individual threads for cons, newfag. Just because you joined the board in 2020 when there were no cons doesn’t mean that these threads never existed. >>10758751Not anymore since they went full retard this year. No notable guests, AA vendors haven’t been announced… They’re even blocking off the grey walls out front and you have to show your badge and vaccine card to be able to take a picture there.
>>10758765>No notable guests, AA vendors haven’t been announcedas if anyone came to fanime for shit tier guests and AA. everyone knows fanime is a party con
Never been to fanime, but considering. Is it worth traveling for?
>>10758812Not this year at least, no masquerade, no swap meet, and I think they cancelled dances too(?) My friends and I are just gonna day drink I guess
>>10758821No music fest but they shoved that into DragonBall orchestra instead
>>10758821no swap meet is fucking raw. One of the best parts of the con for how big it was.
It's getting desperate, anyone hoarding a room?
>>10758821Where does it say that there will be no swap meet? I only see it was cancelled in 2021.
>>10759414Not much point in hoarding rooms to flip when people are canceling and getting refunds left and right because of the Fanime mask policy
Fanime finally opened pro reg after someone on Facebook basically said where the fuck is pro reg and staff saw it
They should just save face and cancel this year.
>>10760511Agreed. So many people are canceling their Fanime plans that they might as well cancel the con altogether. No point in having the con if there isn’t anyone to party with.
>>10760511 one of their guests canceled too.
I think they are in way too deep to up and cancel. It's gonna be so weird.
>>10760511They’re pushing that stupid dbz symphony thing so hard that it looks like they put all of their planning efforts into that and nothing else.
The video rooms are not going to be a thing this year. While I never watched it, removing something thay basically takes zero effort is a bad sign
welp I'm going. haven't been to a con in a while so might as well. What's there to do at the con besides shop and day drink?
>>10760727It's not just the video rooms either. No video programming period. What even is this convention?
>>10760652most likely. 2020/2021 with all the santa clara county health ordinances they were let off the hook. 2022 with numbers down, vaccines, etc they don't get a free pass to not hold the event. if they run the event, even if it's shit, they still have your money. if they cancel the event and don't have that free pass, they likely have to refund you. >>10760791guess we're going to double down on the party con status. not much else to fall back onto.
Yeah there's just not going to be a lot to do on the con floor. Hopefully those people playing music in the hall at night will come back at least.
>>10760791This is the video team’s excuse. Seems lazy; why not just still have open video rooms in another building?
>>10761003It's bullshit because them making the convention center require vaccine for entry is their own (the con's) decision. They are the ones who chose the requirement and not the county. The con is also the ones who want masking outside in front of the convention center. There's no county or state requirement for outside spaces.
>Finally have the courage to apply for AA and get in>This threadAt least I'll get to visit Cali if this ends up being a bust
>>10761014The state is nice to visit. Protip: if you have a car, don't leave anything you care about unattended, especially in the Bay area. It will get broken into and stolen, especially if you go to SF. 99% chance of a break-in in SF, even if you leave the car only for a minute or two.
>>10761015No car and a NYC resident so I leave absolutely nothing out of my sight.
>No masquerade >No dance>No video roomWhat do you call this?
>>10761017Lol good you're better equipped than most tourists already. So many tourists get their stuff stolen visiting the bay bc they might have seen the national news about break ins but they think it can't happen to them for some reason. Like it wouldn't have made national news if it wasn't super common.
>>10761079The orgy con
>so many cancellations that they’re moving people who are staying in AC to the Hiltondead con confirmed
>>10761499 Dubs confirm a well-earned demise
>>10761499Where was this posted? I need more drama
>>10761499This is what happens when you bring liberal politics into the con scene.
>>10761013Makes me wonder who the fucking hypochondriac running the con is. Or do they have insane staff pressuring them for this bullshit?
>>10761515There are many words that could describe a desire for people to muzzle up outside, but "liberal" isn't one I'd use.
>>10761524Libs are the only ones who want muzzles and injections.
Would love to see receipts for the supposed mass cancellations you anti-vaxxers are claiming. All I see on social media are a couple people whimpering about it on their tweets.
>>10761897I think someone would have to compare 2019 pre-fanime tweets to 2022 pre-fanime tweets to get a gauge on how populated the con will be.
Any recommended places to check out in the area? Will be my first time in Cali
>>10761920Foodwise or what? There's some burrito places over a bit that people always go to (La Victoria, Iguanas) and some other eateries next to the university within walking distance. If you don't want to take photos near the convention center you can always go to the gardens. There's a nice Japanese garden a few miles away. The area around the convention center is honestly not bad for photos though. Lot of outdoor areas. There's also a rose garden and the Egyptian museum nearby. SF is (without traffic) 30-40 minutes away so if you want to do touristy shit it's right over there. Mind your car and your belongings as mentioned previously. Last thing you want to do is get your shit stolen and ruin your whole trip. If you want food in general it's all over the place. If the Bay Area has one thing, its good food and a variety of it.
>>10761920Walking or driving? San Jose is kind of trash, there's a couple of good food places near the con but not a lot of tourist spots in general. If you're driving go up to SF. Food - Iguanas (mexican), San Pedro Square (food mall), Pastelaria Adega (desert, their egg tart is insane), Japantown for japanese food (take the vta up like three stops, it's also walkable but is a bit far, don't do it at night if you're not in a group), Gong Cha and Breaktime Tea have boba, Philz is also a great local coffee place (I recommend the iced mint mojito). There are a lot of other food options of varied quality and lots of bars. There is an art and tech museum within a block from the con; I don't find either very impressive, but maybe you would enjoy them. There is also a small movie theater (3Below) a couple blocks from the con that mostly plays indie movies (the larger theater in the area closed and is being demolished). If you find any previous guides to the area, a LOT of places have shut down over covid, so confirm they're still around before heading over there.
Is the La Vics Orange Sauce really that good?I hear alot of friends love that shit but I just feel like it's a child de arbol salsa They say it's vegan but I highly doubt that lolNo Fanime for me this year, I don't want to go up north for some shitty Mexican Anime symphony
>>10761920You can also take the Cal-Train from san jose to sf if you don't mind public transit. It puts you about a 30 min walk from downtown sf, so you could make a day out of it if you wanna leave the con. There's a really good crepe place near the con called Whispers that isn't as popular as it deserves to be. Everyone else already mentioned the good places to eat. There's also a good milkshake place called MyMilkshake.
>>10762061for someone new to SF I would just take an uber. I would not want to unleash the horrors of SF on someone on foot right out of the gate.
>>10762061I used to take caltrain to work, all the way to SF takes like an hour longer than driving, unless someone kills themselves on the tracks like they do every other fucking week, and then you're lucky if they don't keep you sitting on the train for an extra 3 hours. Fucking miserable, don't risk it.But also yes mymilkshake is good, they stay open pretty late which is nice for a post con late night snack.
>>10762122lol iktfb. sitting my ass at the station and nope there was a collision and now they're single tracking and who knows when the fuck you're actually getting to work.
>DBZ symphony canceledFANIME IN ABSOLUTE SHAMBLESFor real this has to be a low point for the con in the 10 years I've been going. Absolutely nothing going on.
>>10762143Yeah, I've been going for 16 years. Worst that there used to be was linecon or the power going out on thursday badge pickup. I love this con and hope this year doesn't ruin it forever.
>>10762143Where in the FUCK does it say that? As a matter of fact where does it say stuff like swap meet and the masquerade are not happening? I can't find a single source stating any of this. Until I see a source on any of this I'm going to assume you are blowing smoke out your ass.
>>10762150https://www.symphonysanjose.org/
>>10762143Where does it say canceled?
>>10762151The fuck?
>>10762151Well damn. What about the other events though?
>>10762151>>10762143my baseless suspicion is that "scheduling issues" = "not enough people bought tickets to make this worth transporting our entire crew out for"
>>10762155Regretfully, Masquerade will not be held in 2022 due to the unique limitations created by COVID-19The MusicFest concert is on hiatus for FanimeCon 2022Swap Meet hasn't been officially cancelled but we're two weeks out and they haven't even bothered to update the swap meet info to reflect 2022. Still says 2021. I'd be shocked if they suddenly got off their asses and added it right now.
>>10762157RIP in piss Fanime.
>>10762151This is so weird. They were promoing it up to yesterday, and only announced through a banner on their website?
>>10762161it has to be an incredibly last minute thing. Makes me thing something happened with some of the performers/the venue that can't be fixed in time.
>>1076214612 years here (started going in '08) I skipped the virtualcon stuff during shelter-in-place times. I really wanted this to be the return to form. But with zero friends going, no swap meet, no video programming, already chatter about lack of staff, and I'm steering clear. I just hope this is not the end of Fanime, not with a bang but with a whimper
>>10762193oh yeah, they're dying for staff. it's bad. assuming covid is light/nonexistant next year, they should be able to recover. if it's still around, fanime is probably done. they'll have to downsize to a hotel.
So, what IS going to be at Fanime this year?
>>10762486Of all things, the black and white ball and speed dating (with reduced capacity). Fanime 2022 is a joke lmao
>>10762486CWF, but that's gonna be streamed anyway
>>10762157>Masquerade will not be held in 2022 due to the unique limitations created by covid maximalist hypochondriacs who obsess over controlfixed
>>10762486They say the Dance is still going on but the site looks like it hasn't been updated properly. Twitter did show them collecting DJ applications.but>paying 75+ bucks just for a dance.
>>10762151This was such a stupid idea in the first place. What weeb wants to see a DBZ SYMPHONY? It’s be understandable if it was FF or Nier, but dbz is a reach. >>10762170Maybe some of them got covid. Or Fanime couldn’t sell enough tickets by the SJ symphony’s deadline like >>10762156 suggested.
So, why are are any of you going to this still? I actually like Fanime, but there's no convention left at this point. You may as well take the budget and go somewhere nice for a weekend instead.
>>10762641Fanime has always been a cosplay and social con. Doesn't really matter what the official programming is, it's not why people go there, especially not if they have to travel. I'm not going this year but I wish I was, Fanime was my favorite con for years but I haven't been since '17 and really miss it.
>>10762641My budget is the $30 in gas and whatever food I buy.Saw someone post that the gray walls are going to be reserved for the reg line. Let's be honest, reg never has a line during normal years. There's definitely not going to be a line during covid. I can't blame them for cutting costs where they can but the gray walls might as well be a major attraction for fanime. Everyone hangs out there, badged or not.
>>10762639>What weeb wants to see a DBZ SYMPHONY?Normie weebs.
>>10762641I like shopping and dealers/AA will probably still be full, not really hearing about vendors cancelling or anything. The problem is that if the attendance is really as low as some in this thread are speculating then a lot of vendors/artists won't make back the cost and will probably not attend next year, so I figure I should still go and maybe see some of my faves in case they're gone next year.
>Anime cons still requiring vaccination and masks.Sometimes I resent being part of the most autistic fandom in the universe.
>>10762671I’d bet money its the convention center, they literally had no events in their main halls until very recently
>>10762694May also be their legal people and/or insurers insisting on it because they're afraid of getting sued if somebody gets sick.
>>10762735If they really cared about that then they'd hire liability things to sign like some other cons. Even then it's beyond retarded and doesn't mean anything, they're just cucked. Like every con except colossalcon.
>>10762740>Even then it's beyond retarded and doesn't mean anything, they're just cuckedwell yeah duh what did you expect from a commiefornia con
>>10762641Meeting up with friends who don't live close. We'll hang out at the con, go to cwf, eat some good food, and play board games together.
>>10756938Are there any good contests for cosplay? I haven’t been in one since SVCC and I was hoping there’d be one
>>10763113There's no Fanime masq this year. For SJ you're looking at CRX which is in August.
>>10763124nta but here's to hoping CRX is decent this year. It's a mediocre con with way too many normies and families with little kids but I can't imagine how it could be worse than Fanime.
>>10763254In terms of anime content it blows fanime out of the park if only because it has a content service with money backing it. Fanime can't compare because they don't have funding. The only downside of crx is that it ends really early at night.
>>10761257>orgyHow do I go on about becoming a part of this?
>>10763514Rule 1: be hotRule 2: don't be unhotYou'll know if you're selected
>>10762641My badge from 2020 carried over. I'm not getting a hotel so I'm just paying for gas the days I want to go. None of my friends are excited to go and the event looks like it's going to be extremely underwhelming this year; really puts a wet blanking on things. Still hoping to hang out with some gulls at the Fairmont like I did in 2019.
>>10758796They had some pretty good Japanese guests when I went years ago.
>>10762671>>10762694We're avoiding the most obvious answer: Norcal ideology makes people insane.
>>10761257Even if it was real, you don't wanna be there.
>>10764716AX and SDCC both have masks too. It's a blue thing.
>Con has a mask policyA bunch of pro trump virus fags throw a shitfit and cry about politicsEvery fucking time.
>>10764894I mean, they can join the religious "you're going to hell" group
>>10764736If California didn’t have some of the best cons in the country, I’d avoid that faggot state forever. Nothing there but braindead pedo-defenders and sjws.
>>10764946>He doesn't like loliFun fact, California is the only state in America that specifically states loli is legal in their laws. The true land of the free.
>>10764967wait, where does it state that?
>>10764967>>10764971California doesn't enshrine that loli is legal, but it's one of the few states where the law outlawing child pornography doesn't include loli so it's in that grey area where it's technically legal. There was also the state ruling of People v. Gerber where it was started that a person had the right to make a fictional representation of an underage girl. The problem is the Republicans slammed through the The Protect Act 2003, specially 18 U.S. Code § 1466A which makes lolicon illegal on a federal level. And this was in direct response to the supreme court striking down two provisions of the Child Pornography Prevention Act as apart of Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition because it infringed free speech in 2002.tl;dr, California doesn't say loli is illegal but it's technically illegal on a federal level.
>>10764990ah, so it's one of those things where "if CA investigates it its a nothing, but if the feds investigate it it's something"
Fanime, Sac, ALA and AX all going to shit. Please let CRX be not bad
>>10765019depends on your criteria of going to shit/not bad. crx is the same people as animenyc so expect masks and vaccines if nothing changes
What's wrong with Anime 2022?
>>10765019um hello anime riverside is going to rule?
>>10764994More like California believes in free speech and loli.
>>10765026>Riverside Cope
I haven't been to San Jose since the last fanime, how has it been faring these days? Were the businesses near the convention center able to stay in business?
>>10762986Honestly this sounds like a good time. You don't need fancy programming to have fun if there are friends and good food imo!
>>10765497There are still a lot, but several places have closed. If you had any favorites look them up before you head over, just in case. Also cops shot a kid at the La Victoria near Iguanas a couple months ago so be careful at night :)
>>10765511That's the plan. I've never done an escape room either and we decided to try one out that's close to the con center on one of the nights. Hoping everyone who does end up going still has a good time too.
>>10762641The ONLY reason I am going is that I am in CWF. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother. So upset. Not even going to cosplay besides CWF.
>>10765804Good luck anon!
Anyone lookin' for a carpool up north all the way down from SoCal? Willing to pick up pretty much from anywhere in between Torrance/Long Beach upward.Currently heading up with one person but figure adding another person might help offset some gas prices.Plan on leaving thursday afternoon and be back by monday evening.
>>10765835Thanks! It's gonna be a crazy show. We're promoting it as our big comeback.
>>10765019>>10765021crx needs vaccine+booster now btwmasks too
>>10765890Based and safety pilled
>>10765890>vaccine+boosterThe fucking state itself doesn't require boosters for events like this. Why are these cons such psychopaths?
>>10766087Because they don't wanna be in the news a week later as another superspreader event. Just stay home, anti-vaxxer.
>>10766089>anti-vaxxerFully vaxxed but nice try, I'm not getting more jabs.
>>10765844Your ALA show was pretty kino this year. But what was up with the Kirby dude? Did he go off-script for some behind the scenes drama?
>>10764670There gonna be a meetup this year? Frankly the meetups are usually the highlights of the con for me and I really miss them after two years without this shit
There is literally no con
>>10766220There always is. Even if fewer people go this year there'll still be some of us to hang out. In '19 I drank with 2 guys in the Fairmont. Was the highlight of the convention for me.
>People actually went to this shit show over Star Wars Celebration
The virtual line software broke so they're back to normal linecon. Plan accordingly>>10766667Not even on my radar, even if Fanime is a shit show (as shown above).
Oh so NOW they offer a refund option. Not when it was cancelled in 2020. Not when it was cancelled again in 2021. Not when they still weren't sure 2022 was going to happen. Not when they announced their coronavirus policies. Only NOW 2 days before the convention starts. Bunch of scumfuck bastards.
>>1076583Non-fat women only btw
I am going to the convention and happy to meetup with folks tomorrow night or saturday.
>>10756938Go to guild houseGo to cat townSee cat streetSee sjsuHave fun
>>10766416so if everything is cancelled what is there then
>>10766870some panels, the guests they have left, vendors, AA. black and white ball and speed dating, strangely enough
Anyone down for a meetup? I'll be at a brewery near the con.
Fuckin dammit they cut the reg line when i was right at the stairs bunch of bastards FUCK
>>10767001Reg ends at 7 anyway
Anyone at double tree floor 2 wanna drink on the balcony? All the balconies are connected.
Insider hereWalking there nowAnyone have questions I'll try to answer when I can or take pictures Kw
>>10767053Who in the organization of the higher ups of the con is the hypochondriac vaxx-freak?
Saw 2 girls cosplaying needy streamer overload as i was driving away from con, anyone have photos of their cosplay?
So is it worth it?
>>10767092If you want a hang out con, yes, it's worth it. If you're going to fanime for guests it's not. I'd say the majority of Fanime congoers know it's a hangout con and treat it vas as such
Are they checking badges at the AA/dealer’s hall?
>>10767107Not as much as they are when you first come into the con center. They kind of assume you have a badge if you got through that first ring.
Gonna try sneaking in with long sleeves to disguise a lack of wristband because theres no way im paying $70 for a saturday ticket. How feasible do yall think it is? Haven't actually scoped out in person because I live half an hour south. Any good sneak in points?
>>10767115The wristband is for covid check, you still need a badge. Borrow from a friend talking out front.
>>10767115They look for your pass and wristband when you first walk in the door and sometimes when you go to 18+ panels. wristbands for covid and the pass is for the convention. once you get in though you should be fine
Need some con friends anyone wanna join me day drinking later?
I go to hang out and buy my passes a year early cause a day pass is only like 20$ more than buying a weekend pass early.
>>10767180Potentially. Suffering from some sick but if it clears up later I'm down to drink
The line is even worse today ffs
>>10767207Is it going slow or fast?
>>10767210It was the Vax line that was bad. Set up the clear app and it's super fast bc they had separate lines for clear
So how is fanime, worth going?
>>10767366Do you know other people going? It is immensely more worth it if you either know people there or are easily able to socialize. If you're a loner you're gonna have a bad time
Anyone want to pregame at the double tree? I got sake on sake.
>>10767366If you aren't local or have a 4 day pass, it's not worth a single day trip
any pics?
Any hotel parties I got hard shit
>>10767385Park con
>>10767366I had fun but I had a big ass costume and just like posing for photosWas hell to change into but fun
Door is open if anyone want to drop by for a drink, talk, or just hangout. Room 420 at the western, ask for dr. believe.
Would anyone be down to chill tomorrow early mornin????
I'd meet up with people but the damn IP range ban blocks my posts
Was going to post this but muh ip range banI was able to slip wristband off yesterday but forgot it at hotelI tried going in again for a wrist band and was told I need a boosterI told them and showed them my badge saying I got in yesterday (day 0) and they tried taking away my badge but I told them fuck off and walked awayI put on my sweater and walked in just showing badgeFfs this place turned from a 8/10 to a 1/10

how was the vshojo party and the ball dance?
>>10767570Sounds like he kept doing it if he got that big a list lol
fanime sucks assi feel bad for you zoomers eating up spy x family, genshit impact, csm, and EDC normies
do we need to bring our actual vaccine card or is a photo fine?
>>10767597>bitching about zoomersishygddt
There will be a meet in front of the con at 8pm. Come meet some gulls make new friends
Right at this place
>>10767667When the time comes can one of y’all make a post saying where? Internet real spotty for posting
>>10767681It's the thing in front of the con center
>>10767570Yeah he posted on the fanime Facebook group and it was indeed him pulling his mask down. Guy is understaffed so he would eat and drink in the exhibit hall
Went home for the weekend. Normally I could last off hype and caffiene but there wasn't enough hype this time around. Sucks I couldn't meet up with anyone. I'll buy a pass for next year so I can coordinate stuff. If it gets better next year that is.
>>10767789*4chan pass. Damn the IP block.
>>10767766Holy shit, the con staff and narcs sound insufferable.
>>10767827he was warned multiple times and then they terminated his contract. Like idk if he expected a special exemption for himself
Where the gatherings at?
>>10767570Wonder if he was like the guy next to me last time I had to fly who thought he could keep his mask down the whole flight as long as he had his nibbles on the tray in front of him.
>>10767570Lmao if you search his name on the fanime fb group there's a post from 2018 where he is reported to be a jackass to his workers. No wonder no one wants to work for him.
>>10767597>>10767617Lmao like seriously. If you don’t like Fanime or not recognizing 90% of the cosplay, hang out at BayCon or Phoenix Comic Con instead.
>>10767586Arrived too late to get my Friday badge so I hung out at the vshojo thing. It’s just like the raves they hold at night.
Anyone surprised it was this big this year? I was expecting a massive trainwreck, but it felt like 2012-2015 again.
>>10766191>Kirby dramaTell me more anon
>>10767374This, I’ve gone solo some days and it’s incredibly boring. You can make up for it by cosplaying, but it’s really a party con.If any gulls know any Cali cons good to check out solo, let me know.
>>10767887I was pleasantly surprised. Besides the masks, no masq, no music fest, no swap meet, it felt like good ol Fanime. Numbers might have been a little lower but there was still a lot of people. The front yard seems just as populated as 2019. It was really good to be back.>>10767890You want ones with enough stuff to keep you occupied. I would say AX and Crunchyroll Expo, but that assumes they bounce back in the programming/guest department. When I first went to AX I just went from concert to panel to autographs and repeat, in no particular order. Didn't know a soul there.
>>10767885>>10767617gay asszoomers
Fanime was full of absolute tards you would have thought it was the special olympics or something
>>10767904Yup, loved CRX, always spent more time in panels there. Love their theming, too. I’m glad they’re not the same week as SacAnime, either. Is it me, or was Fanime more solo-friendly before 2013/2014? I knew people who ONLY went for arcade stuff.
>>10767904It’s weird because Saturday was basically business as usual, especially at Artist Alley. Sunday, there were definitely less people, but it was still crazy busy. Even without masq or concerts, I still had fun going solo or meeting up with some buds.
>>10767374Maybe I’m autistic, but most people I meet do NOT want to socialize outside of their friend group. I’ve overheard so many awkward one-sided conversations and people outright ignoring others. I’ve gotten lucky, but usually over finding niche cosplayers who I can geek out with over.
>>10767923I think you're correct in that a lot of people stick to people they know. You generally need friends and then extend outward thru them. Met all sorts of people thru the people I already knew. It's that or you need some sort of shared trial/experience like a line you and others have been waiting in for a long ass time. If it's just out of the blue it's hard to build rapport
>>10767923Maybe try not being fat ugly and retarded
>>10767872The people who police masks on others are truly a special breed. I wish the schizo conspiracy theories about the vax sterilizing people were actually true.
>>10767926Project and seethe
>>10767849Idk, seems like some weird power trip shit to me. The state/city isn't even enforcing covid shit like Fanime is. And the dude had to take his breaks on the floor since he didn't have extra staff. People will just go "he agreed to da RULEZ", but the people making the rules are insane hypochondriacs. But I mean, am I really surprised about con staff power tripping? Not really. Tale as old as time.
>>10767889Hard to say. I watched their ALA show this year in person. If you watch their video of it, they have a dude in pink who I think is supposed to be Kirby. The whole thing get's real awkward, like he's detailing behind the scene favoritism. If it was supposed to be part of the show, it didn't feel like it.
>>10767939I don’t need to take that from you you fat piece of shit
>>10767950>still projectingSeek help
>>10767955seek my fucking ballsack whore
Was walking down the hallway on hotel floor at the Marriott and saw a shirtless Kakashi cosplayer inside his room after some people walked in. Snuck in some pictures before door fully closed. Spy game masterclass.
>>10767570I remember this booth. I talked to the guy working there in the early 2010s and he was mentioning having to work 2 full days for very little commission. While the mask policing seems overkill in this case that booth has sucked in the past.
>>10767923I talked to plenty of people that were wandering on their own. If someone is with their group they aren't going to break away to talk to randos; that's just a social pattern. When people are on their own they're generally very sociable. I talked to some people while I was waiting in the badge line (twice) and they recognized me later in the day and said hi.
I'm not going today. Is it okay to skip? I feel bad because I didnt go saturday either :(Next year I will go all the days.
I can't believe I spent a fuckton of time working on a walking media player for Fanime only for it to work for a grand total of 5 hours.
>>10768086It's okay to skip, but fuck you
>>10768107
>>10768086Monday is mostly locals picking over the remains. Say hi if you’ve got friends going or you want to check AA without the crowds, but otherwise, get rest if you don’t want to. It’s a decent preview for next year, though.
>>10767965Cope
>>10768129Thank you anon.I do look forward to next year. Hopefully a lot of the covid-weirdness will have faded by then.
I liked the hotdogs actually. I'm glad I didnt get one of those beto boxes though. Those looked kinda bad for how long the line always was.
Met a cirno on friday morning. She was cute. I really dropped my spaghetti in that conversation. Not as many TouHou cosplays as I was expecting desu.
>>10768136Those popular Japanese franchises (Touhou, KanColle, Uma Musume) seem to have fallen out of favor. Sucks because a lot of those costumes were really cool.
>>10768136>>10768141I'm actually shocked there's still a Touhou crowd. I was at the gathering and it was a mix of vets and new fans.Hell, I met a Yuuka back in 2019 who said it was cool there were still people who recognized Touhou cosplay.
>>10767925>>10768067Yeah, this is mostly how I meet people: friend of friends. the other 10-20% is running into obscure cosplayers or people i'm trapped in linecon with.
>>10767965>whore implies they get laid unlike you
>>10768134No problem. It’s still fun, but if you’re north bay or it’d take gas money, don’t go. That said, many booths still stay open and some have flash deals to get rid of stock. Hope you had fun. This might pull me back for next year instead of going to Phoenix or some east coast con.
>>10768135Yeah, they were weak. But it’s kind of worth it if only because the ramen place near light rail is meh and umi hand rolls was slammed. I miss that takoyaki booth.
If the danger dog are $10 here, i wonder how much they will be at AX. I hope it more because fuck LA. Remember you can always talk them down to $8 or less. I know I did
>>10768145I saw a remilia and sakuya pair on Sunday near photog wall. Rip touhous, I'll always hold you dear
>>10768141Uma Musume was never popular outside of japan though
>>10768183I saw them, too. I liked the Flan and Remi who were around on Sat noon.
>>10767930I didn't police him, just think he's dumb as fuck. He's more likely to catch covid from me with his mask off than I am from him with mine on. Masking correctly is literally not hard at all and a bunch of stupid people turned it into an idiot political statement.
>>10768240>He's more likely to catch covid from me with his mask off than I am from him with mine onThe whole point of the muzzle is that in theory it stops the wearer from spreading the virus, generally by restricting aerosolized particles in saliva. This is rendered almost completely moot when you consider the particle size of the virus compared to the mesh size of virtually all available masks and the fact that even if someone has an n95 mask, they're almost certainly not practicing any sort of aseptic technique, so in reality it's purely psychological. Dumbfucks will touch everything and their mask multiple times and pretend that they're doing something by wearing it when in reality it's just a petri dish and nothing more. And then uppity Karens like you feel the need to correct them, or even concern yourself with their habits when in reality you should be opposed to the entire thing on principle alone (not to imply that women have principles) if not for the aforementioned pragmatic reasons
>>10768166Good advice. And thanks friend, hope you had a good time too.I'll see you there next time then (maybe) ^_^>>10768254>>10768240Well, the mask does give protection in more ways than one. Since people are less likely to touch their face if they have one on. Face touching is a big mode of infection.
>>10768263>Since people are less likely to touch their face if they have one onlmao, normalfags and women are constantly adjusting them to the point of uselessness, I'm pretty sure normie retards touch their face and other surfaces multiple times per minute, to say nothing of their other poor habitsit's literally nothing more than a compliance test and if you go along with it, you are part of the problem
>>10768240Protip: Neither of you are going to catch covid.
>>10768254Well I was a germaphobe before covid and the idea of touching my face in public makes me squirm, so don't get so up your ass about me. I know how to was my hands because I know germs are real.>>10768266Sure, and the earth is flat and aliens did 9/11, got it buddy.
>>10768274>Well I was a germaphobe before covid and the idea of touching my face in public makes me squirm, so don't get so up your ass about me. I know how to was my hands because I know germs are real. You sound clueless and delusional. I'm such a germaphobe, teehee! No, you're an annoying busybody, probably fat and unkempt, and you probably spread pathogens at least as often as you, in your fantasies, avoid them.
>>10768276Lol okay Doctor 4chan :) Sorry you had such a bad con owo;;
365 days til fanime 2023, are you ready
>>10768286I'm not ready yet because I want to make a cosplay next time XD
>covid policies in the most libtard state>surprised it's enforced to a point youre still arguing about it 3 years latergeeee
>>10768274>Well I was a germaphobe before covidYou living in fear =/= me needing to live in fear.
>>10768171Fanime danger dogs have always been overpriced, I haven't even been since 2017 and I remember them being stupid compared to LA ones at the time. I also just remembered that I ruined one of my favorite shirts while eating one while drunk there.
anyone gonna dump pics?
>>10768136God I want to fuk a 2huI'd drop 5k to bang a 2hu for 5 hours
>>10768171>$10What the fuck. You can get actually decent food at that price point around walking distance in downtown San Jose. Hell, the food IN the convention seems more worth it than those diarrhea bombs.
>>10768331You should see the Facebook thread defending the $10 price tag. "Support them! They need to provide for their families and it's been a rough two years!" Yeah they would have been long gone if they had only depended on concerts and weebs at cons to sell hotdogs to.
>>10768324cool monitor head from monday
>>10768331con food sucks ass lol knowing the dirty dog is the hottest thing you can get at the con, or walk to la vics
>>10768331If you're desperate for cheap food late at night, hit the Spartan Taco Truck or Doner Silicon Valley.
>>10768334Oh, I didnt see that one but I saw the girl monitor head on friday-sunday. We nodded at each other.
364 days til fanime 2023. Are you getting your stuffs ready?
>>10768324love to still see punpun in 2022
>>10768358I didn’t see the Spartan truck around.
>>10768331Those places were slammed to hell, though. Still doesn’t excuse a danger dog.
>>10768325Which 2hu wud u fug?
>>10768263We’ll see. Still thinking of another con, but I’ll be shocked if there’s a Memorial Day con that isn’t at least a partial trainwreck. If you have any questions or advice and need it from someone who’s been going to this piece of shit for over a decade, let me know.
AHHHHHH I WANT TO GO TO FANIME AGAINI WANT TO SEE AND HANG OUT WITH LIKEMINDED INDIVIDUALSI wish it were every month. Or I wish there was a club or something I could join :[
>>10768171Not sure why you would want to spend $10 on those danger dogs when a short walk away to Chipotle can get you a large sized burrito for the same price.
>>10768693you could join an anime club
>>10768724Yeah. Other cons aren't really the same, either. There's something about fanime where a majority of the people are just really nice. Everyone I was ever stuck in an elevator with or running into near the crossing lights was really sweet. This one is one for the books.
how was park con
>>10768731I never really saw it that packed. Hope you wished for blessings from the shit snake.
>>10768724My school doesnt have one!
>>10768783There was a decent crowd on Friday night
>>10768730I haven't been in a few years but Fanime was always a "sweet spot" con for me too. It's got just the right combo of typical climate, good photoshoot locations, close hotels, lots of nearby food, and overall size of the con. It's a shame hotel rooms have become so hard to get in the last few years, I'm in a career where I can't really commit to 4+ days out of town far enough in advance to get a room so I'm kind of forced to room with friends when I *can* make it to Fanime and most of the ones I used to stay with have either stopped going or don't want roommates anymore.
>>10768693Leddit and Tumblr are unironically decent places to hang out for anime or capeshit. If you've got a fav anime, poke around for official or unofficial Discord servers.
>>10768731>>10768881It was pretty packed Saturday night, and was going strong at 2 and 3 AM Sunday. They'll probably shut it down next year, since people at the hotels complained the noise was echoing in the square.
>>10768954The only reason people were outside was because they couldn't be in the con proper. It won't be happening once it's back to 24/7
This is now my favorite video about Fanimehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGSgTj8gsHc
>>10767947It's part of his bit. He's a mix of Kirby and CM Punk. He admittedly has trouble bridging the two and is working on it. Cool guy. Everyone at CWF likes him.
>>10768981Weren't they kicking people out of the lobby of the con center in previous years so people had to party in the front?
>>10769027people partied in the lobby in the con before?
>>10769052Yeah, it was basically the evening time thing to do
>>10762039the orange sauce is the only reason to go there; the burritos themselves are average at best. ive made something similar to it with a ton of oil, garlic, and chipotle pepper in adobo. theirs are much better and i am sure the secret is they pour in day old grease.
>>10769052Yeah people would just roam the halls. Some people would play live music or park against the walls with their friends.
>>10769066hope ppl are drinking
>>10768996This is the first time I've ever seen a con video from the perspective of a food truck. Shits neat.
I didn't even have much fun this fanime but I'm already missing it and can't wait for the next one. Funny how that always happens.
I don't know why, but my friends and I got more people asking us what our foam armor was made out of than any con in the pastI guess for some people this could have been their first con, but it was just oddly prominent
>>10769358Yeah. It was great to see everyone again and get back into things. CRX in a couple of months so that'll have to do.
>>10769358I wonder how bad the FOMO will be if I go to other Memorial Day cons. Fanime's not that great and I've had more fun at Worldcon of all places, but it was my first con.
>>10767947>>10769024Yeah, that makes more sense, actually. Let's hope it gets refined for next year. In fact, him teaming with Mr. Connors would be fucking perfect.Hell, make it a three-way with Reality. Also, did Reality not show up just because it's tacky/too easy to make quarantine jokes?
>>10769052yeah, and they'd do it even at other cons until the con center began parking the security checkpoints at the doors. even then, in years past, there used to be some interesting stuff. someone had a giant-ass persona 4 display where reg is now and it'd host some late-night Persona 4 meetups.>>10769066>>10769220most of the drinkers would head up to hotels.there used to be a dude who brought out drums pre-2018 and play for the stragglers in the game room
>>10768996i saw this dude on monday morning, he was fucking great. i wish he showed up sunday
>>10769773Butthurt + projecting + not even that guy + you’re white
>>10767965What balls?
>Try to book a hotel for next year>400 dollars per nightHoly shit
>>10771957Look into an Airbnb, but with the post-COVID cleaning costs, some may be as bad as a hotel. If you're flying solo, there's some places near Santana Row that are good for solo or two-person groups, and there's someone who runs a dorm-style airbnb, but i'm not sure how it's doing since the coof.
>>10771957Just wait for the con discounted hotels. Lots of people on the waitlist this year ended up getting the hotels they wanted.
Alright my bastards, I bought a 4chan pass so I'll be able to organize meetups next year. Looking forward to it.
Anyone here knowledgeable about CRX??? It's in a month. Is it better or worse than fanime?I really liked fanime even though it was kinda weird this year.
>>10777926Bump...
