Link :>http://colossalcontexas.comWhat is Colossalcon Texas :>It's a con at a waterpark, it's fun.Where is it?>Austin Texas.Look you guys know the drill.
Average Temperature range in November :
Kalahari Map :
And Indoor Waterpark map.If any Austin anons want to actually post some decent restaurants in town, please do so. Me and my boys are touching down on Weds instead of Thursday, and I'd rather catch an uber out and explore the local foods instead of eating resort food constantly.
>>10679870If its not warm enough to swim outside I will be very upset.
>>10679964I mean it's a Desert, how cold can it get when it's literally just the sun.
>>10679875Fair warning, the Kalahari is up in Round Rock which is pretty far North of the city proper, especially with traffic. I live in North Austin (20~ minutes away) and can give you some places on the North side of the city, but they're still a bit of a hike from the convention center. P. Terry's is a local fast food burger Chain. Pretty solid poorfag choice.Tumble22 has a few locations including 1 in Round Rock, it's a pretty good hot chicken place.Stiles Switch BBQ is one of the better BBQ places in the city and is probably the best one up NorthRamen Tatsuya is a pretty good ramen placeif you're looking for a Yuppie focused area, the domain has a lot of bars & restaurants withing walking distance. I haven't been there enough to really comment on it though.
>>10679996>it’s a fair drive from the city.Used to that from Sandusky and Poconos, Kalahari loves to put their shit in the middle of nowhere. Terry’s Burger sounds good, I’ll look up the menu later but me and my boys were thinking about What a Burger since we’re from the Midwest. BUT, I’ll do a diff chain just to have a better pallet.
god to see celeste again in bikini showing those thicc thighs and amazing ass.
>>10679999>>10679996Also one of my boys is literally autistic about Jollibees after I introduced it to him at Anime Matsuri so.
>>10679999Fair enough. Was just warning that without a car if you're going to the outskirts of the city it's $20+ each way. Round Rock is a fairly populated suburb with some stuff around it if you do get sick of resort food and want to get delivery at least.
>>10680013Ya, I’m prepared. Worst case scenario I just pay some local gas money to foot traveling for me, I think one of the guys in my party is driving up from AZ. You’re more than welcome to come hang out with us too anon.
>>10679996That honestly works better as all the weeb/Asian shit even in Austin proper is far north. There's some game and comic shops in North Austin and that little area near Gaming Goat and Daiso with the Korean corndog place, Kura sushi, a new ramen shop, etc. And further up you get a lot more Japanese restaurants, H-Mart and their food court, and a few other things.
>>10679999>Terry’s Burger>What a BurgerCringing in native Austinite Texan right now.
>>10680023San Antonio is literally the only experience I have with Texas rn, so I’m probing for knowledge right now please understand
>>10680032Nah ur good senpai like I said >>10680021 all the weeb shit is on the north side of Austin so if you don't mind renting a car or ubering you have a good bit to check out. SA and Dallas are better for Asian stuff than Austin tho.
>>10680035Ah, I’m not really here for Weeaboo food so much as just getting in a local taste. I did the same thing for San Antonio and that’s how I stumbled across the best Chicken Fried steak I’ve had to date. I don’t mind weeaboo shit as long as it’s good though, it’s been ages since I’ve had proper Takoyaki.
>>10679870>>10679964Those average temperatures put it on par with CCE and just a few degrees cooler than Ohio. The Colossalcons are always scheduled for the off-season because resort bookings are lower than in the summer months. There would just be way too many normies if the cons ran during the busy season (when temperatures are higher), and that would likely become a problem.I doubt they'll be opening the outdoor water park in November regardless of the weather.
To anyone that's been before, do they have heated pools? I've lived in Austin for 10 years now and never knew we had a waterpark
>>10680539Because it just finish being built this year. But to answer your question, heated pools are standard with Kalahari
>>10680544Well that answers that question. I'm out of the loop with local things so I wouldn't be surprised if it had been there for 5 years. Heated pools in November will feel great.
>>10680547Let us enjoy a swim friend
>>10680569Excited for this con bro.
>>10680573To tell you the truth I'm more excited for the resort. The con is a bonus, the ballroom ought to be fun.
>>10680672That’s fair, I am too since I’ve been to most of them aside from the Wisconsin location and now the Austin one. Not a super fan of the resort but most of the interesting cons I want to happen to be there.
>>10679869This looks fun, too bad it's the same weekend as Royal Vegas or I'd go. Please report back how it goes gulls :)
>>10680677Anything about the resort you didn't like?>>10680687You're actually going to that? Report back too.
>>10680689Not that anon buy torn between Sin City anime and this. On one hand Sin City is piss easy to get to, fairly cheap, and such. Colossal on the other hand would be a fun beach episode of a con.
>>10680689About the resort? Most of what I don’t like is actually con related issues so I can deal. Mainly late night swim always become /goo lagoon/ tier because of how packed it gets. Otherwise, I like the water slides, and I like the lazy River when it’s actually fucking lazy and not trying to speed run me. I was usually busy doing photoshoot stuff or playing arm chair psychologist to other con goers to actually relax. So it’s kind of exciting that I get to play tourist on my own terms now that most of my own cosplay group has been filtered out by COVID, while I’m the only one who still wants to travel and cosplay in general.>>10680687I have a friend who can’t make our group meet up because she’s hanging out with her touhou group in Vegas. I’m sure it’ll be an interesting time to say the least.
>>10680698I mean assuming this is your average Texan / South Westerner’s first time at Kalahari.>Water Park passes are sold by the con if you’re staying off site>Breakfast Buffet is going to be your caloric to go to, unless you can hitch a ride and get cheap fast food breakfast. Otherwise you’re risking your parking spot.>Weeaboo Flea Market on Sundays which usually results in super cheap Taobao cosplays depending on who you buy from.>Real swimming hours (late night swim) complete with the hot tub bar being way too packed and honestly becomes a clusterfuck. But also is something every newbie should experience once.>Photos and CMV folks everywhere trying to shoot for their Instagram (or is it Tiktok nowadays...? I’m old...) pages. >People either bringing their A game or intentionally bringing their D Game cosplay wise, because it’s a water park con.>Door to Door Room Parties in the suites.Resort wise though, UHHHHH, there’s like two or three bars, standard grocery store for the suites, breakfast buffet, a sports bar, and like a cafeteria that’s usually attached to an arcade. Personally? I’m going to try an experience Austin more than I am experience the Kalahari when I am there.
>>10680704Go to 6th street.
>>10680730You have any idea how far 6th street is?This is going to be a room party heavy con
After I had a sub par time at East, I’m contemplating this one, or wait til prime to make up for it.
>>10680732>>10680730From Round Rock? It looks like a 20~30 minute drive. I’ll probably hit it up when I land on Weds and Thurs. One of the buddies meeting up with us wants to hit up the range when we get in town anyways.>>10680827First year Colossalcon’s are usually the most cozy, imho. I love Prime to death but the issue was the rampant over crowding and it being over ran with “social media influencers”, but I realistically have not been since COVID was a thing. I slept on Prime and East despite being a realistic drive away from both this year because of me banking on dumb muzzle mandates. Texas is a diff story as far as I’m concerned, so I’m banking on this one being good by its location and region. Different strokes for different folks though, the company you’re with make the con you’re at infinitely more terrible or fun. I would realistically say if you got the budget for it, and don’t have any other cons to go to for like 6 months, it’s a viable option. But I wouldn’t go out of the way for it.t. Ohioan who missed out on Prime this year of all things.
>>10680833Prime this year felt a lot like the early years before it became viral. It was chill, cozy and great. East was about normal levels minus a little less crowds, but it's passed the cozy mark. The first few years are usually pretty cozy, but I'm not sure how quickly Texas will evolve.
>>10680915If it was a normal convention year, I would say this year would probably have been over crowded but since we’re in a weird place I’d say this is guaranteed to be cozy. Yeah, I saw that with Prime ontop of a bunch of twitter trannies complaining about Prime or going on about “yeah I’m out here by the pool with my vaccinated friend group” and it’s like.. man, I should have gone. It looked good
>>10680704>Water Park passes are sold by the con if you’re staying off siteAre you saying that the convention sells discounted water park tickets, like they do at Prime? If they haven't specifically said that, I would not assume that to be the case, because they don't do that at East.
>>10680916The levels of hypocrisy from people complaining about Colossalcon Ohio happening was astounding. The con took place when Covid cases were at the lowest point in months (around 20,000 cases/day). Yet a lot of those same people that complained went to cons like Otakon when the 4th wave was ramping up, and cases were like 5 times higher. But that was ok, because "yay Otakon" and "boo Colossalcon".
>>10680930It's really because Colossal didn't have a mask mandate, but Otakon did. So by internet logic "It took care of the guests that went to there". Gotta love armchair activism. I'm kind of glad that Texas is a natural filter to a majority of folks though. Good way to end off the year since it's the only vacation I can take nowadays. >>10680927I'm saying that registration sells them, discounts are usually at the whim of the Kalahari itself.
Anyways post your line ups
>>10680833Warning about going to 6th street, if you do plan on staying late it's worth trying to find someone to drive you. Last time I went down & tried getting a rideshare back North (usually $25~) prices were over $200. It probably won't be as bad on a weekday but getting raped on price is stillva big risk
>>10681070Ahah, I’m more of a foodie than I am a booze person. I might be alright
>>10680916It was a blast. Come next year!
>>10681073Oh I will! It’s usually a 2 hour drive for me, this year was just an exception..
A bunch of my friends got covid at Colossalcon East. Stay safe out there gulls.
>>10681094spreader party let's goooooo
>>10681094Karma for playing Pop Punk at a con room party.
What are you all cosplaying as?
>>10681681It’s mainly SRW stuff. I might throw in a Male Miku here if I get enough time. Works been keeping me super busy though
>>10681710Pretty badass if you do it.
>>10682441It’s been like two years since I’ve worked on a project. It’s going to be a fun time.
>>10682446>>10682441As in the project is going well, my railing kit just came in yesterday. Just been busy, but there should definitely be a cowboy wandering around the park one of those days.
I am willing to buy a Kalahari chalice (or drink of choice) to anyone willing to cosplay CRAZY HAMBURGER JOKER
>Be me>decide to add electronics into my work out of boredom>Don't know shit about electrics>fuck it have to learn somehow>pick up a soldering iron, some LED's, a battery pack, and order a motor for my prop.>connect positive to positive, and negative to negative on a terminal hub>hear burning smell>Huh, must be coming from the soldering iron>fucking didn't notice there was a short until the next to last second>mfw almost set my workshop on fire in the process of science and prop work.OTHER THAN THAT, THIS PROJECT IS ACTUALLY COMING OUT PRETTY WELL. Downgraded from a 15v power supply to a 9v power supply and it powers both the motor and the lights needed for the prop. Pretty excited to show it off at the con, soldering ain't so rough at all.
Ight bets are in
How's your cosplay progress coming along? Bump. Pardon the messy work bench.
>>10686860what is this?
>>10687474It's the expanding mechanism for >>10682446with the character being >>10681710Although the Duster isn't going to be here until November the 2nd of all fucking dates, so I might just work on Sol Bad Guy from Strive instead. I really just want to do something that shows off the skills I picked up off of lock down, but some LED's might settle for now.
>>10681111I did that in Ohio on day 0 and it went over fine, so karma must have missed me. NEVER would I have done so under normal circumstances, but for some reason (that I forgot) people were playing "All the Small Things" earlier and enjoying themselves, so I decided to do it. The REAL kicker, however, was the villa party. I'm sure they literally pulled out the "Songs to get white people turnt up" playlist, because we got hit with A Thousand Miles, All Star, Mr. Brightside, and yes even Fleetwood Mac.
>>10689259>white people turned up play list>Villa Party. You’re fine, I imagine the people who can pay for those are old rich boomers anyways because the most I’ve been able to get was a presidential. This time I’m staying in a Nomad though. It seems like all of my Ohio friends are allergic to flying out to Texas, and I’m the only one with cash to spare this time around. It’s less than 30 days til’ the con. Kind of stoked! Cosplay progress is looking kind of dogshit because I grabbed the wrong screws and I had to Amazon my sewing machine due to Joann’s being sold out. But over all, pretty stoked either way.
>>10680039where was this at? the chicken steak
>>10689278>This time I’m staying in a Nomad though. Now that you mention it, people were talking about Nomads in Ohio, and that's probably what I'm thinking of. Also, who are you going as? I'll be doing Ryuko (five costumes to pick from) and possibly school uniform Rei, but that's still unclear.
Just booked by fight and bought the badge. Really looking forward to this con. Given the alterative which is a shit show con in AZ the same weekend.
>>10689718Uh, well I was going to do Haken Browning from SRW Endless Frontier / Moon Dwellers, but I might have to opt for Sol Badguy rn. I'm bringing some vocaloid stuff, but I'm kind of scrambling on last min ideas since my Duster for Haken won't be here til November, and work has me on call... You know how it goes. Ryuko should be fun! I'll wave to you if I see you.>>10689493This was Ruby's Diner in San Antonio actually. Home of the Chicken Fried steak and one oversized cinnamon roll.
>>10690476It seems pretty likely I'll run into you, so I'll be on the lookout. >Ryuko should be fun!Indeed, it is. In spite of what I said above, one thing is 100% guaranteed: if you're there Saturday, I'll be doing default mode Senketsu. Either of the other two, and it's up in the air-- first episode, pajamas, track suit, pajamas or final scene. And if there's multiple Rei's around, you can distinguish me from the others by looking for the one with a Burger King crown.
>>10679869I should have gone to this instead of Youmacon. Maybe in a few years.
>>10691467Back in January, I asked my friend what his plans for the rest of the year were for cons, and he immediately defaulted to AWA. Hence why I'm headed there in two days. Meanwhile, all his other buddies are headed to Youma. Never done either myself, so how that goes remains to be seen, though him shunning all of them STRONGLY suggests Atlanta is the correct choice. I just hope to God there's a few people around on Halloween night to hang with. The main event is on Sunday when everyone's left, while the next Halloween on a weekend is 2025. Sad !
>bought all the shit to work on a prop prosthetic arm in late 2019, figured I haven't ever done much serious cosplay work so it'll be a good learning experience>wasn't doing any cons so I put it off until March 2020>Covid happened, had no motivation to work on it since I haven't gone to any cons>finally going to this con, but realized I have done 0 work at all Is it worth even trying at this point, or should I just put it off again until next year?
>>10691460>Burger King CrownDo you fly Spirit Airlines too?Yeah but jokes aside, I should be bringing Sol Bad Guy (Strive version), and Genderswap Miku. If I have enough time, I'm probably also bringing the Mafty Pumpkin Head from Hathaways Flash for drunk meme'ing purposes.>>10691467>>10691472Yeah, so when I planned out cons this year, I was looking for specifically what wouldn't fuck me over the worst with mask mandates in general. So long as domestic flight vaccine passports don't happen, I'm good for flying to Texas infinitely. >YoumaconMan, I'm like a state away from it and I always have a chance to go, but I turn it down since it's always in the middle of like peak season for repairs at work.>>10691478Bro, I'd say do it anyways. You got a month to whip up shit. Pick Rel; started on the sword for Sol Badguy last night, got the railing for the sword made, and I've got some housings for the internals. This shit is going to glow like a Christmas tree by the time I'm done with it.
>>10691490>Do you fly Spirit Airlines too?Perhaps. And if the opportunity ever presents itself to capitalize on pic related, you better believe I will.>Genderswap MikuThis right here is how I know I'm in good company, and nowhere was that more apparent than Supercon. Basically EVERYONE I hang with is a crossplayer, by design or by accident. How many were there? Basically none. You got a group you're hanging with? Cause I'm already booked and my main guy is probably bailing. However, I refuse to cancel, which leads to the next point...>So long as domestic flight vaccine passports don't happen, I'm good for flying to Texas infinitely.Of all the cities I've seen this year, Austin was the best, without question. Colossal is the best venue I've ever done, so this is an easy win. My expectations for this one are VERY high.
>>10691467Youmacon is only really a smart play if you can drive to it or take a train to it from surrounding cities and states. You're at the mercy of the weather if you plan to fly in and due to it's location is not unheard of for a freak snow storm or bad weather to destroy your flight in and out of there. Atlanta has had odd cold snaps in the past during AWA but it's so few you could count it on 2 fingers, I think 2019 was the only one in the past 5 years that a freak freeze happened.>>10691478I would say aim for Ikkicon if you just can't make colossal due to whatever life reasons but as the other anon stated, you do have a full month. I'd say bite the bullet and do it otherwise it's just going to fall off your radar and never get done.
>>10691497After my own heart here bro.>Everyone I hang out with here is a Crossplayer.I do genderswaps because I'm not build like a twink, but I am becoming built like a Silverback Gorilla, thanks to power lifting so I'm semi taking advantage with.>You got a group you're hanging with?Yeah I'm organizing a little meet up from a group I run. But I'm always down to add more to the mix. We should be touching down on Weds and if we have the energy, probably hitting up a shooting range to go fire some guns, I need the OJT anyways. You're more than welcome to come join us if you happen to be in the area.>Of all the cities, Austin is the best.Texas is like the only place I havn't lost faith in. Going to San Japan about two... three? Years back kind of gave me faith in the cosplay scene again. >Colossal is the best venue. This is technically the biggest indoor waterpark now, as East makes Sandusky look like a mini park, and this is expected to be about twice the size + some golf. I was tempted to do some Pangya cosplay this time around too, I might in the matter of fact but I like the safe line up I have now.Put some progress into the Outrage MK2. Gotta work on the hilt tomorrow, doing the blades second to last and doing the lighting last obviously. I've recently just found out that there were more than just 1 "Until Dawn" games, and while they are slasher movies at heart, they make absolutely good background noise to work on.
>>10691515>I do genderswaps because I'm not build like a twinkIt's neat to compare and contrast the serious, the casual, the memers. Me somewhere in the middle. Within less than an hour after being asked if I consider myself a "trap" (I don't), a guy came up and shook my hand then stepped back to say "OH, you're a dude!!" Whatever the case, that's some interesting logic you're applying there.>>10691515>You're more than welcome to come join us if you happen to be in the area.Good to know, and thanks for the invite. I'm booked to stay on the 18th, but have no flight yet since there's a billion other factors up in the air right now. A result of traveling for 100% of November. Don't suppose you're in the Texas Discord, as dead as it is?>Going to San Japan about two... three? Years back kind of gave me faith in the cosplay scene again.Very good to know. San Japan might have to go on the list for next year.>>10691515>and this is expected to be about twice the size + some golfThank you again for raising my expectations up even further, and strengthening my conviction to ensure I don't cancel. I was already surprised by how big Sandusky's parks were, and I got to stay on sight which made it even better (only time so far).
>>10691518>Would I consider myself a trap.Dude, no trust me if I was skinny or at least toned, I'd be rocking the e-girl make up and waifu cosplays too. Doctor Girlfriending it up is always fucking funny.>Don't suppose you're in the Texas discordNah, I'm actually planning this one with my bros, if you shoot me an email or give me your discord I can add you though.>thank you for raising my expectations.Waterpark con is all about socializing and making new buddies, sloshed or not. For me, I personally get my thrills building cool shit and showing it off to other folks. Gotta keep the reason I got into cosplay alive, and prop making is how I express myself. Colossalcon Texas in this case is probably going to be the only vacation I've been able to get since the beginning of COVID, so I'm taking it as a chance to let loose. BUT having some swag props would be the icing on the cake for me.
http://colossalcontexas.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/coltex2021_websched_v1-5.pngHoly shit the panels arn't ass for once. Good job staff.
I’ll bump. Here’s how the sword is coming along right about now. Gotta lay out the blade tonight.
Booked hotel, everyone canceled. At least I have Kalahari room to myself.Hope everyone's plans are going well
>>10694472Progress on the blade got delayed since SRW30 is taking over my life but I'm inching towards it. I gotta sew Sol Bad Guy and paint the blade next week, so it's on schedule-ish. I'll buy ya a drink if I see you around.
>>10679869Two weeks to go, please pray for warm weather
>>10695224It's about 50~20 degrees in Ohio right now. This is an upgrade to me already.
It's coming together..
>>10679869>Look you guys know the drill.I don't. I finally live somewhere stuff happens and I'm contemplating hanging around since I'm in cedar park now and a friend from dallas is paying me to get him for this.
>>10695862Come hang out with us fag. Life is too short to be socially anxious all the time.
>>10691529Hoo boy. Being without a computer and endlessly range banned gets annoying quick, but I'm back. So...Playing up and contasting pic related could be good for a laugh. And if this were a super fast board, sharing a Discord id might not be so bad, but it'll be here for months on end so not sure what to do. Suppose there's always the option for a server invite or just one telling the other to meet at X bar / restaurant on the day of. After seeing what Colossal in Ohio can be, I know for sure that this is one is even more about socializing than average. Speaking of which...>>10695862Don't just contemplate. Get a ticket, and sooner than later. If what I've seen is any indication, this is not some rinky dink hole in the wall con, but one you'll want to remember (if you even can)
Man, if this is how it's going to be, doing Gridman next year is going to be a fucking cake walk.>>10696001Oh for sure. I'm always down for a meet up in general.>Chad AmbushHah, if only. I'm baby faced in general.>OhioThat's my state in general bro, so I'm probably going next year since I've got a fuck ton of PTO in general (for once).
I’ll do some more work later today but this was from late last night. Added the tip
Alright bros, I'll see you in two weeks. Gotta do the detailing and then power sew the rest of this week.
Did a change of cosplans literally last week due to time constraints, but luckily what I'm doing now won't take that long. Hype to actually have a water themed costume since this is the third Colossalcon I'm going to.
>>10696775What are you doing?
>>10696008I dunno about any good bars in Round Rock, though definitely am hitting Sixth Street in Austin proper at some point. So if anything good comes up, I'll be around here in this thread. And I am on the fence about Colossal in Ohio next year desu (drama), but if I can get a gigantic head-covering mask, I'll definitely go.
>>10695874>>10696001Well my job is dicks and I didn't get the whole weekend off even though I put the request in over a month in advance. That axes any late saturday shenanigans.
>>10697347Well the great thing here is that (assuming it's like Colossal in Ohio), you can show up at quite literally any point in the day or night and find something to do. All works out. Not sure if Friday or Saturday will be better, however I'm actually showing up the 18th.
First time congoer. Is it worth it to pay a group for some floor space just so I have somewhere to change and stash my stuff during the day, then go sleep in a hotel down the street? Or are the changing rooms/storage lockers pretty good there? Also, I'm guessing that Kalahari will still require actually buying a pass for the pools unless floor space still counts as "renting a room".
>>10679875God there are so many rides now that I take a good look at it. I hope the indoor swimming is okay, I've never been to an indoor park before.
>>10697488Depends on how much stuff, I might be able to swing something my way. I'm staying on site.
>>10697488If I'm understanding you correctly, you're doing exactly what I did in Ohio, and in that case, you can enter the waterpark without paying extra. Should come with some giant free pizzas too.>>10679875And THIS is why I'm finally glad I decided to fly in on Thursday.
>>10697488If it's like colossal prime, they give you wristbands that are both room keys and water park passes. Sometimes the front desk will give you additional room card keys if you ask, but they won't get you into the waterpark. So you may need to buy a pass.
How late is the water park open? I might want to try swimming on Thursday after showing up
Wig didn't come in time for Sol Badguy. I'll just work on him for Colossalcon Prime then. So if you see a genderswap Miku cosplayer, that's prob me.>>106984498:00A-10:00P iirc but there should be real water park / late night swim on Friday and Saturday.
>>10698455>Another confirmed crossplayer before it's even startedI like the sound of this one already. Lack of them is always a sign thay a con won't be so great in my book. Going as Ryuko and Rei by the way. Ordered two other outfits but they still have a ways to go before arriving.
>>10698472Anon its an anime con why do you seem to think cosplayers are rare
>>10698473Crossplayers, friend. Cause he mentioned genderbent Miku. And some definitely have more cosplayers in general than others.
>>10698474Ah you got me I misred the word
>>10698472>Burger King ReiOh hey buddy. Yeah uh, I couldn't fucking find a teal tie at Walmart today so I'm just taking my L. I'll be around in normie and tech wear shit for sure and if I see you I'll give you a wave.
Shit, I guess I'm buying swim trunks at the con or just getting soccer shorts somewhere. Fucking no idea where mine went.
The con starts tomorrow. Please look forward to it.
>>10699024I’m landing today
>>10696008Ayo we're getting close. Any updates on where to go for a meetup? Unfortunately it seems I have an impromptu six hour road trip tomorrow so we'll have to see who that goes
>>10699037I wish that were me(its not)
>>10698398>>10698417Now I'm confused. Does the N+1 person in a N person suite get a pass or not?
>>10699155No idea what an N+ is desu. I stayed in a place with three beds. One for each person. All got passes
>>10699155Only if they pay the $50/day fee for extra guests.
What's the chance of getting laid at this convention? Looks like a place made to meet all sorts of people.
>>10699093It’s gr8. Only gripe I would say is the the Kalahari for this one has the bigger outdoor water park, not indoor.
>>10699077I haven't seen anything being planned, but I'd be down for going out & meeting some new people. I'm just staying at my apartment though so I can't offer a room or anything.
>>10699077Best place to do a meet up is probably going to be at the bar down stairs from hotel lobby iirc. Giant Christmas Tree, you can’t miss it.
That’s a real buffet
That’s the tree
Talking to staff (Kalahari) ;>Late night swim confirmed >Swim rave confirmed (should be fun with the projector they have for visuals)>there’s a live music garden and fire place during the evening (decent place for a second meet up spot)Other than that, badge pick up is at 8 but me and the boys have been dicking around at the venue already. It’s fun.
>>10699345Is there badge pickup today?
>>10699346For pre orders yes
>>10699353Nice I hope its open late. I'm stuck in AUS airport waiting on friends.
>>10699291Flight showed up about 45 minutes ago. I can already see downtown from the bus I'm in too. Need to check in, pick up my rental and I'm good to go. Also seriously thinking about Sixth Street tonight, if anyone's interested

>>10699709I'm in the hall near them. Burger King Rei
>>10699707Man, no trannies would be nice.
>>10699710Think I found rei I'm gonna check that concert too since my friends are managing for the band here.

All the good panels start so late
I just bonded with an artist alley man off of Super Robot Wars 30.
Where all the white women at
Just now contemplating why I dropped 500 on sanae, remilia, and flandre figures.
Someone just passed this out to me in the lobby. Anyone have any idea wtf is going on?
Did anyone get the flyer from the maid cafe?
>>10700080I got it from the Bowsette. She told me its a burlesque show
>>10700080Some deku Crossplayer gave me one as well
Is this Texxxas thing real? What the fuck?
>>10700085I think it is
>the guy who tried to rape my friend at colossal prime is at every midwest con I go to

>>10700276I'm just gunna go drink and relax at the party room for the big marching band fun
Bro how do I stop being a saviorfag?
Any stuff going on?
>>10679869Meeting in the lobby on the couches
8/10 Probably returning again next year. Super cozy con.
Why the fuck were hotel staff such douchebags about breaking up parties?
>>10700364Did you get the guy that said "Cut this shit out NOW" too? And probably cause this is year one, if I had to guess.
>>10700281Give us her number
>>10700281Why she break up with you>>10700351What does cozy mean specifically because it been said repeatedly now
>>10700387How do you describe cozy? I got to meet new friends by repeatedly running into them. It’s like an old school con where everyone feels like family by the end of the con. No drama by association, just fine dicking around.
Man, fuck those hentai people with the art books. Liars, got a rotten attitude and called me a thief to my face. Overpriced even by con standards too.
>>10700395poor bb got caught stealing from AA
>>10700399Or alternatively>you could have stolen your 18+ wristband from someone
>>10700401It means you look young. Take it as a compliment
Anyone feel creeped on by security this con?
I kept having con security look at my behind when I passed them and when I was walking back to talk to a friend I heard them talking about me it was super creepy
>>10700407Advertise product, get interest. It’s marketing 101
>>10700403It could also mean they act like a child which isn’t a compliment
Word on the street is that at least a couple folks want the stragglers to meet on Sixth Street. Dunno when I'll be ready but when I am, I'll post again>>10700410>>10700403Gotta be a better way to phrase that desu. Assuming it's what he meant.
>>10700395They were charging fair price for the Rayearth Figma I was looking at. I made friends with the dude since he’s based out of Ohio too. Maybe it’s just the hentai section that’s garbage but I’m literally just here for figures. I have enough JAV’s sitting on my hard drive dude.
Should be ready fairly soon. I'll be by the giant Christmas tree when the time comes. Look for all red Adidas
>>10700461Well that was earlier than expected. Doing final passes and I'm ready.
>>10700461Took off yet?
>>10700472Headed to a restaurant. Gonna see if my ride can turn back after. You still gonna be here in like two hours or so?
Boys had a fantastic time with you guys. God speed and good luck.
>>10700476Nah I was heading home, just wanted to crash the meetup for a bit. Take care dudes>>10700479Same, I'm so glad I showed up.
This was my first con and I had a great time. I made fast friends with some girl cosplaying as Hilda but I spaghettied hard and didn't to get anything other than her name. The guy with the Batman costumes was cool too I got his card.
If anyone stays till tomorrow, invites are open. Might take a little while to get to you, but we're open
Liquidating the last of our liquorClaim em today
>>10700532I might know who this is but where to go?
I’ll be flying in again for next year. Fun con
>>10700536Floor 7 its all toxic sludge now
>>10700546I figured as much
>he watched dubbed squid game
Don't involve other people with your own conflicts both my room and I imagine your friends did not appreciate it.
>>10700611lol what happened
>>10700619I keep wanting to save broken women
What the fuck, man. It's 3:30 AM I'm still here and STILL drunk. Normally this is good but not now it isn't
>>10700655Rental is overdue and no idea what they'll do because of that. Also realize I lost my speaker. Hopefully hotel staff finds it
It was surprising to see just how much Texas enbraces its culture, its not just memes how they talk and dress down there
>>10700676I like that their anti litter initiative is called “don’t mess with Texas”
See you next year Austin. I think me and the fedi boys might splurge on a villa next time around.
>>10700401Just show them your ID if you're that desperate to buy overpriced doujins.
>>10679969Texas has more biomes then any other state. That areas is plains oak forests. Just outside the hill country. It gets cold enough. Also deserts get cold at night :/
>>10700834Is Texas really this far behind in education?
Did not get to go this year but here's my hope and dreams>get shredded>get laid>mfw still 5'5"jus-
>>10700834Arizona is only missing two iirc and one of those is coastal.
Sorry if we were loud on Saturday night around 2 am on the 7th floor. The lady got drunk at the late-night water park. She becomes a screamer in bed.
>>10700961Lol look at this sex haver having sex what a loser
>>10700963At least I don't have to be thirsty as fuck to get laid.
>>10700964Just thirsty enough for attention to post about it
Dealt with a lot of weird drama but had an amazing con. I kept forgetting my dealers badge when I went downstairs.
Anyone who goes to Prime have any good comparison? I was thinking about going to this but I couldn't make it. Been going to Prime for years.
>>10701000Con was average. It needs more people to show up to be good.
>>10700630as a fellow saviorfag i would like to hear more.
>>10700989How were the sales?
>>10701022Sales were really good. Not amazing but I made enough to be happy and cover costs.
>>10701019I don't wanna divulge into it. I just feel like I want to put my all into it for women to have one that's always there for me
>>10700940I think there’s hope. I saw an ugly bastard hook up with this stupidly cute aqua cosplayer this weekend.>>10701000It felt like pre-2010 Colossalcon. Park was accessible, everyone friendly. My only complaint was that there could have been a tad bit more people, but I’m hoping it doesn’t implode like how East did. I think after year 2, me and the boys decided to just fly out to San Japan instead of driving because Kalahari Booking got just as retarded as Prime did. Fuck, you just reminded me that I have to negotiate for a Lodge for that con.Oh yeah, to the anon I met over the weekend and (unfortunately) slept through Real Water Park hours. You got an invite to join my crew for next year. I feel bad about your luck, especially since CCTX was your first con. We think you’re cool, so you can join my con group, or at the very least have a way to hit us up for next year. I know you were interested in some prop building tips, so I’m game to teach you as long as you put in the work.
>>10701071>My only complaint was that there could have been a tad bit more peopleBeing a first year con, I'll cut them some slack on that one...at least for now.
>>10701076Between Covid & ANYC being the same week, it was a pretty solid turnout for a 1st year con. Ikkicon is a shitshow so there isn't much competition for it to be the best con in Austin & possibly the state if it improves. I'd like if they pushed it to be a bit earlier (maybe mid October or something to dodge Youma/AWA) & enabling outdoor swimming, but that might be cutting it too close to East. Hopefully the Kalahari staff get a bit less hands on trying to stop parties & whaynot for next year. That was by far my biggest issue with it.
I’m glad I drove through the night to get home, my cat will not leave me alone and it’s adorable
>>10701083Yep I had no problem with attendance at all, my only grips was the con arcade was very small but the Kalahari arcade certainly made up for that.
>>10701083Until it gets to Prime size of selling out the entire resort this is going to be a regular issue. There were other families there that weren't there for the con who don't need to hear parties and orgies at 1am. They tried to put most of the con people on the 5th-7th floor but not everyone on those floors wanted to party. They had signs about a 3 strike system which they did enforce. Maybe CC should ask Kalahari if they can designate a party floor otherwise it'll be the same prob next year.
>>10701076They’re growing the resort from what staff was telling me. I fucking hope rooming won’t be an issue at future cons because that’s literally the one gigantic turn off for Colossal is Hotel Hunger games.>>10701083Outdoor pool being open would’ve been nice but they would have to literally switch which season the con opens up in. I think they’re keeping with November because like the weekend afterwards is Thanksgiving, so they can probably rent that specific weekend before for dirt cheap. Same thing goes with how East is always before Labor Day and Prime is the first weekend of the summer. All of these are usually before big holidays or peak seasons.>>10701128>>10701083From what I kept hearing from Burger King Rei every time I ran into the dude, floors 7-8 and 9 were Ram Ranch tier. I was on 4 and befriended a bunch of goth normies as our neighbors. Actually kind of feel bad for them, we were belting rock and roll McDonalds from our room at like 2 in the morning.
Oh yeah, here’s how the meet up on Friday went. I opted to stay out of the photo, along with the only female who showed up.
>>10701167God I miss the days when this was a female only board
>>10701170And yet I'm sure all of us, male or female, are hotter than you
>>10701167redhead dude you should cosplay archie from riverdale youd get all the poon
>>10701170I’m just here to build cool shit and make friends who arnt too autistic dude. >>10701177I think Loud Speaker DEUS VULT was my favorite out of the bunch.
>>10701170Fucking same. Or at least a board that was dedicated to the things it was about and not just for congoers in general.
When can we expect rooms to go on sale again for 2022?
One more for the road
>>10701731>chick on leftANYONE BANG HER? HOLY FUCK THIS IS WHY I LIFT
>>10701273I think me and my group got into con room blocks around April or May. But don't quote me on that.
>>10700080I'm the piece of shit that would have gone just because DMG is on the flyer
>>10679869Its been a week and I'm still regretting not chatting with that casual venti cosplayer who just wore the wig and a dress shirt.
