>everyone hates sjw tik tokers, especially this koonkun chick
>well-known gaijin gyaru emi left gal for yamikawaii
>people want to bring back g_s, mainly due to zoomers and newbs being retarded with their makeup
>some kind of sexual assault drama involving chris
The tea is flowing, does this mean gyaru is officially revived in the West?
>>
I wish, but in all honesty i think most of what we see is larping for clout, half of the videos on the gyaru tag at least on tiktok where it was supposedly revived are roblox clothing hauls of all things. My only joy is watching new gals discover gyaru secrets and the like lmao.
>>
>>10666844
facts, I know ppl are tired of the Emi talk but desu even her transitioning to Chinese street style of all things, the most copy-and-paste "fashion" out there, kinda proves to me she was just LARPing for clout.
I like watching the newbies getting offended when millenials don't conform to their bullshit and mock them, it's like they can't comprehend the idea of someone not utterly submitting to their little cult.
>>
>>10666859
And they're so surprised when their stupid ideas are challenged too, i have seen so many shit takes on there from people 20 and up not being able to use kogal because a 14 year old said so to someone saying gyaru is about clothing and hair and makeup don't matter.
Please bring bullying baaack.
>>
>>10666840
>The tea is flowing, does this mean gyaru is officially revived in the West?
I think it's more the case of people having way too much time on their hands due to 'rona, there has been an influx of new drama in almost every single "dead" jfashion because of bored teens suddenly hopping on them to be more ~not like the rest~.
>>
>>10666859
>when millenials don't conform to their bullshit

This is kind of ironic considering boomers think millennial are full of bullshit they're pressured to confirm to.

I know these kids are annoying but it's kind of amusing how even the 'snowflake' generation of millennials are now the older people whining about younguns being too soft and sensitive lol. I think it's totally fine to make fun of then or point out when they're being dumb though.
>>
>>10666866
the older gyaru are doing more freaking out about the younger generation complaining at them and "ruining gyaru". they won't tell someone to shut up to their face.
>>
has anyone noticed that after that k00nkun girl started saying gyal a lot of younger girls started calling it gyal too? ngl it grinds my gears a little for no apparent reason
>>
>>10666900
Someone pointed out that she needs to stop calling it that for this exact reason.
>>
>>10666866
you're that one person coming into a court room saying "both sides are wrong, conflict can't happen if both parties aren't willing for it to happen"
>>
>>10666866
I think it's totally fine to call them niggers and tell them to kill themselves for being faggots.
>>
>>10666901
and it's always the ones that haven't worn gyaru a day in their lives
>>
i saw a fucking egirl in "kogyaru" the other day.
>>
>>10666904
I never said everyone is wrong. Just that there is some irony there. In the end its just a niche subculture and people talking shit online back and forth. I agree with some things being annoying or stupid and if you wanna complain go for it. Just pointing out the irony like how boomers do the same to millenials all the time calling them immature for liking animation, video games, Disney, or Harry Potter or not wanting kids or caring about what's "proper adulting" or not by their stick up the ass standards. I find these people cringe too. But it's always been trendy to complain about young people and not a sign of any meaningful greater generational difference besides age. They would say the same about gyaru in general as some people feel about the younger generation. Cringey kids trying to force their bullshit. No one's right or wrong though just do what is fun for you this is supposed to be enjoyable not some morality thing.
>>
>>10666918
The difference here is that the younger generation isn't creating their own subculture, they are just emulating another one and being on a high horse about it.
>>
>>10666922
And that's a valid criticism, you're free to say whatever about them. I don't like koonkun or whoever either desu.
>>
Anyone has gyaru samurai scans?
>>
>>10666926
That's fair. I just think we are worried about people actually being able to criticize anyone. Gyaru is a tougher comm than other jfash and younger girls definitely don't want that.
>>

>>10675825
RuPaul made it popular so of course impressionable kids internalized it as the hottest thing and drag it from style to style like a dead wildebeest chained to their ankles.
>>
>>10675879
it's not though. drag is an imitation if a stereotype given to gay transvestites by straight men. many gay transvestites dressed as women to be with their lovers even though it was illegal. it has nothing to do with making fun of women.
>>
>>10676840
>A drag queen is a person, usually cisgender male, who uses drag clothing and makeup to imitate and often exaggerate female gender signifiers and gender roles for entertainment purposes. In modern times, drag queens are associated with gay men and gay culture, but they can be of any gender and sexual identity.

>Development of the drag queen in the United States was influenced by the development of the blackface minstrel show.[30] Originally the performers would only mock African American men, but as time went on they found it amusing to mock African American femininity as well. They performed in comedic skits, dances, and "wench" songs.[31]

>With vaudeville becoming more popular, it allowed female impersonators to become popular as well. Many female impersonators started with low comedy in vaudeville and worked their way up to perform as the prima donna

And so on

sorry anon, but the history of drag as a performance art is separate from the concept of people using crossdressing to obscure homosexual relationships. there's a pretty undeniable element of making fun of women even if it's not the entire point. i have no idea what you mean about the stereotype being "given" to gay transvestites by straight men since i'm 100% certain that drag performers would understand society's stereotypes just as well as anyone else. are you trying to say that gay men can't be misogynistic and have to learn it from straight men?

I don’t know if this is the proper thread but I’m curious about getting into some substyle of gyaru. I’ve been wearing lolita fashion for many years already and am wanting to know if anyone has any suggestions or tips on transitioning from this or another j-fashion into gyaru? Thank you for any advice!
>>
>>10682001
my only suggestion is to not. gyaru isn't a fashion style. it's like saying jersey girl or valley girl is a fashion. there are styles associated with gyaru but it's not like lolita or something.
>>
>>10681953
Read the previous thread. Let's not reignite something unnecessary again.
>>
>>10682001
Look at tons of inspo. Start off with Japanese gal models and magazine scans- there are loads of resources online. Eventually you'll get an eye for what is "gal" and what is "not". But there's not strict rules like lolita and unlike the majority of the gaijin gyaru community thinks, even the rules for the different "substyles" are nebulous at best. It's more about wearing what you like and making it "look gyaru". Look at old gyaru secrets and archived threads to see what not to do.
Also, don't do it for clout. It won't really get you anywhere in this day and age unless you go balls-to-the-walls agejo or old school.
>>

get the dupes from aliexpress they cost like $2. you can remove the glue and disinfect them with alcohol so it's not dangerous. they're basically the same quality but diamond lash is always too pricey outside of japan.
>>
>>10690530
The effort and time of having to do that makes it not so much worth the lower price. Why not just buy decent lashes to start? A lot of them are reusable anyway.

How broke are you that disinfecting cheap aliexpress lashes and removing all the glue and praying it won't give you a sty or blind you is somehow worth it? At that point buy $2 lashes somewhere safer or save up and buy one pair of diamond lash and take care of them. $16 is pocket change for decent lashes. Don't recommend anon stuff that's both shady and high effort to save $14.
>>
>>10692196
>>
>>10692326
Anon, they're not dangerousc calm down. Also diamond lash is cheap garbage you newfag.
>>
>>10692509
anon is probably old and clinging to the past. people recommend aliexpress lashes all the time. and diamond lash is cheap, it's not dolly wink like anon is probably confusing them for.
>>
>>10692509
I'm not even saying Diamond Lash is good nor am I confusing it with another brand. It's just dumb as shit to trust $2 foreign knockoffs if it's really so shady you have to remove all the glue it comes with. Cosmetics from Aliexpress are generally a no-go. If it goes in or on sensitive areas like the eyes it's best to avoid them.

Also if Diamond Lash is so cheap why are you such a poorfag that you'd rather buy $2 ones than a better brand even than Diamond Lash? I personally don't wear falsies but it's typically common sense to avoid certain products from Ali.
>>
>>10692518
All the glue it comes with? Have you tried princess eye?
>>
>>10692518
It's not shady, it was stated as a precaution. People in the western comm buy 2nd hand lashes from gross gals separating lash boxes by hand all the time and no one thinks about that. And the glue on Japanese lashes isn't even necessary good to leave on them anyway(I'm talking about the glue holding them in not lash glue. Lashes on aliexpress are literally the same ones for a fraction of the price.
>>
>>10692545
>People in the western comm buy 2nd hand lashes from gross gals separating lash boxes by hand all the time and no one thinks about that.
Western gals being nasty doesn't make somewhat unregulated cosmetics not dangerous. The people doing that need to be more careful too.

>>10692545
>It's not shady, it was stated as a precaution
That's fair enough, just got worried cause this board is full of so many newfags lately and was afraid some teenager was recommending something unsafe since I just have a long term suspicion of super cheap cosmetics (even from drugstores in western countries). I've know a few people who have had bad reactions from cheap shit. Sorry for responding so intensely I just get that way when I care about shit. Just stay safe out there gulls and be careful regardless of the brand.
>>

>>
>>10692556
I think anons meant to remove glue that attaches the lashes to the packaging. Aliexpress lashes don't come with glue. Also please be aware that many countries including the US don't regulate these kinds of items until after something bad happens to a consumer, which in many cases isn't until decades later. That being said lashes aren't considered makeup or cosmetics they are just plastic, the glue is though. I'd be more concerned about "homemade" lashes on etsy than aliexpress.

Recently purchased my first items but I’m curious if it’s okay to mix brand with Western designer brands?

Has always been done anyways, if you look gyaru you can even wear a trash bag and still look the part.
>>
>>10700783
gyaru love high-end western brands. and a lot of them even use high end makeup products
>>
>>10700799
Nta but always did get the vibe that many gyarus sport some of that new money 'California rich' aesthetic and probably don't mind conspicuous name brand logos and stuff. Basically taking stuff some people think is trashy and just wearing it and owning it in their own way and not caring cause they like it.
>>
>>10700783
gyaru is way less strict than lolita. brand doesn't matter as much as the overall look does
>>
>>10700800
pretty much. a lot of people in the community don't really get that it's completely fine for you to wear whatever and not even fit any of the particular "styles". older and more widely known gyaru styles were invented by gyaru for gyaru because the clothes they wanted weren't being made, but you're not confined to anything like that because that's not what defines gyaru. the base look of gyaru comes from the makeup, style and vibe you give off. and most of the gyaru vibe is "confident dumb bitch" ala valley girl/clueless and early 00s paris hilton. that's why gyaru keeps evolving, they closely follow and alter western trends and make them their own.
>>
>>10700783
I'm begging y'all especially if you're coming from the lolita community lose the idea of "brand" like there are gyaru brands but like... it's not that serious. You can look like shit in head to toe d.i.a or ma*rs if the rest isn't there. If you're a newbie focus on your hair and makeup and if that looks gyaru then it really doesn't matter what you mix n match as long as it looks good.

this whole gyaru vs lolita thing is dumb if it isn’t just a joke. calling lolita “spinster” fashion implies that attracting men is somehow the goal of wearing fun clothes. gyaru and lolita both attract unwanted attention from weird dudes. both communities are equally as fucked, too. wish we could just get along and respect each other’s decision for wearing the clothes we love instead of making it an us vs. them thing. this board is so middle-school.
>>
>>10701600
Good lolita clothes are from 2012 of earlier kek
>>
>>10701607
Except gyaru is about being sexy and showing a lot of skin which makes it seem like youre doing it for men lol lolita is the opposite
>>
>>10701617
It's more about challenging beauty standards and social norms by doing the opposite or adapting trends from places with different standards I thought? Kigurumi gyaru definitely aren't showing skin or being sexy. B-gals wear full body tracksuits generally. Gyaru are also into being super skinny, probably thinner than men would want as far as being sexy. I'm not a gyaru and while the look van be more revealing as far as skin it never came off as a trend that was intended to appeal to men. Especially with the bleached hair and tans in an Asian country where dark hair and pale skin are usually the standard.
>>
>>10701617
>>10701623 vocalized what i was trying to express, basically. even if gyaru is sexier, the intentions behind wearing it aren’t to be ogled by men so much as to look how you want to look. which is why it was retarded to me to insult lolitas with the term “spinster” because that insult is based in the idea that the goal of either fashion is to appeal to men, when it is not. i see as many gyaru complaining about unwanted male advances as i do lolitas. not trying to make any other point aside from that insult being extraordinarily stupid and tone deaf lol

this is not a substyle. its just gyaru who sometimes wore kigu. that doesnt mean gyaru as a whole is a sexy fashion

>Gyaru are also into being super skinny, probably thinner than men would want as far as being sexy.

its japan. they want skinny. its a near mandatory beauty standard. that being said, many gyaru are actually thicker, like black diamond
>>
>>10701636
Agreed; there is even a bit of a stereotype of gyaru as sluts and young kogal as sexually experienced for their age, some porn, anime, and doujins perpetuate it to appeal to men with fetishes for tan girls while some challenge it (Oshiete Galko-Chan is literally just character stereotyped subverted for all the characters, and Gals! or some kther shoujo manga has storylines about gals dealing with whether or not to do enjou kosai dates and stuff), some acknowledge it but don't attach much moral weight in their English dub (In Peach Girl's English dub Adachi Momo is not explicitly a gyaru but they reference it because she is tan with light hair and they mention people assume she is a loudmouth tomboy or easy because of her looks).

It's a bummer there is this association but if anything other makes the point of gyaru stronger: regardless of what strangers and assholes think I'll wear and do what I want a d have fun doing it.

i meant *isn't a sexy fashion

a style can simultaneously be against beauty standards while also pandering to the male gaze. gyaru may not be the type of girl you marry but men still fetishized them

besides, men dont know what they want. they say they want a thicker girl but refuse to look at anyone over 120 pounds. they say they like "natural" girls but coom to edited, photoshopped, caked on makeup pornstars and onlyfans girls.

Thing is that in the west, showing skin and being sexy and tan is normal so youre just fitting in whereas in japan youd stand out. I guess thats why being a gal is different than being one in a conservative country. Youre right gal isnt about male attention. I still think many japanese gals are pick mes (and the fact its common for gals to be into sex work so naturally youll have to please men)

You are simultaneously living in the early 2000’s and also the Gamergate era, where “gaze-theory” bullshit was still relevant and taken seriously by Twitter (emoji)astrologists(emoji) the world over. We absolutely know what we want— But, as YOU should know, the feeling of wanting something is malleable and subject to change. It is not always a rational feeling, though wants do tend to follow simple pattern. Sometimes, men make compromises in the name of love, just like you do. There is no universal beauty standard, either. My previous ex had triple D hooters, but was barely chubby. My current girl is a heavy C lightweight with 80’s hair. Can you believe I liked them for different reasons? Or, is that impossible in your worldview?

IMHO, men never fetishized real gals; gals fetishized themselves to appeal to men. It is, in Japan at least, a fetish fashion that originally emerged to capture and harness Western sex appeal. That’s WHY is looks so bizarre, and why Western guys just don’t get it. The ones that do are the real gyaruo catching stds from real gals at your local dance club or college bar while you talk shit on 4Chan.

One more for now to prove my point. These two are indistinguishable from your Japanese animes, except that they aren’t pure virgins defying a vicious stereotype— They ARE the stereotype.

I'm not gyaru but I do take some inspo from the style. I like Egg's Airi, Erika, Kyiiripu, and Momoa. They look a bit more mature and less cutesy. I do quite like it when the current Egg models still use some dark under/around the eyes. I find they've got a nice in-between of shaping the eye differently, accentuating the eye, and getting those nearly black eyes when looked at from a distance while smiling without being as over the top as many older gyaru photos.

I also still follow Koda Kumi. It seems unpopular but I like her new work as well as her old and she's still looking great most of the time.

I know you're a troll but gyaru was a thing before Jersey Shore was ever on TV. Possibly before Snooki was even born.

Must be a zoomer baby gal. A quick research would have told them that. You know how baby gals don’t like to read.

Do black hair Gyaru exist

I neither said, nor implied that Jersey Shore is the origin of gyaru. As you said, it has been around much longer than that. Rather, my point was that Jersey Shore exists as an uncomfortable, yet accurate example of real gyaru/ gyaruō in their natural environment. It breaks the illusion that a gyaru is some pretty Japanese girl, and not the popular bitch from your highschool who would have bullied you in slang and thrown your EGG magazines in the trash. I think that point is almost impossible to refute, once you admit how gyaru came to be & who it’s for.

Snooki is a particularly good example, because she’s so ratchet that she accidentally looks like a Japanese gyaru cosplayer 50% of the time.

Men date women with huge boobs they describe as “barely chubby” and act like they deserve a Nobel peace prize for their bravery

Real talk to divert away from the troll: how do I wear my skirts short when my ass isn't completely flat? I don't want to flash anybody. Should I roll them up and wear short safety shorts underneath or simply wear them a bit longer? I ask because I'm jealous of jp gals who can wear their skirts mega short.

It's kinda depressing the 13 year old on the list looks better than any newbies in the comm. Where did all the girls who can actually do their makeup go...
