This is messy.
>>10647473What brought THIS on????,
>>10647473Hell yeah burn the witches
>>10647510A few weeks ago this person made a livestream talking about why she left the group on the Tshirt, the screen cap is from a livestream where she celebrated her “1 year anniversary of leaving.” Included a cake and everything.
>>10647473Woah…I know a lot happened to her in that group but Jesus Christ, you don’t have to stream yourself doing this kind of stuff to help heal from it.
>>10647517Fuck you washu. Burn at the stake
>>10647517I don’t know personally I’m all for this kinda healing. Whatever helps ya know?>>10647473What’s her name?

>>10647473Deserved. >>10647561We really need to update the spreadsheet and the playlist. Is spreadsheet anon around still?
>>10647570spreadsheet anon was very discussed last thread, and they seem very uninterested in running it.
>>10647524Not Washu, but whatever helps you sleep at night.
>>10647524No need to get violent, Kuri. This is literally just an idol thread.
>>10647574Someone might as well start a new spreadsheet if they’re up to running it.
>>10647579Everyone wants to talk about it, no one wants to actually do it.
>>10647581>>10647579I took the liberty of copying the old spreadsheet to make a new one. Haven't started working on it yet, but I will tomorrow after work. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QCj4KeUk_cYKUz1-PNB0YQHBdMyxwZ_bJ21cSTiZ9sc/edit?usp=sharingEmail's in the name field so you can email any groups you find.
>>10647570>>10647574The conversation was that nobody wanted to submit stuff or offer to help run it. Someone complained about lack of Canadian groups and spreadsheet anon said if people submitted they'd update but they weren’t going to spend time updating it if nobody was willing to submit content. They’ve always been up to updating.
need better music shows
>>10647602Would you want us to send anything else along with the name of the group?
Reso's kickstarter is out but I'm not seeing anything about the new fourth member?
>>10647804They posted on their story that they'll be rolling out their song cover next week, followed by revealing the logo and theme for the single, and then by revealing the new member. Just gotta wait a bit!
>>10647804Revealing the next member was one of the milestone rewards
Looks like they have a whale.
>>10647929Dang, that was fast! Good for them. I'm excited to see how it turns out!
>>10647929They got a $700 pledge holy fuck
Ayumi is doing a song request fundraiser stream on twitch right now. https://www.twitch.tv/littlepastelidol
Non Sweet released the Timeslip MV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgVwtJCheUQ
I'm trying to learn how to produce music and I'm completely lost. I don't suppose anyone has any advice? I figure I could analyze idol music that already exists and try to recreate it in order to analyze song structure, I don't know.
>>10648061Do you have any background in music or music theory?
>>10648061Maybe start with remixes and mashups? They're kind of easy to do.
Why did Non Sweet release their MV long after releasing the audio? Why not release the MV first, or release both at the same time?
>>10648068Maybe it wasn't ready? Just saw their new mv, it was awesome!
>>10648068>>10648078It’s been done. Fan club got it some time ago but originally the plan was to release it after 500 subs and they changed their mind because the overall response was really positive. They decided releasing it now would benefit more than waiting.
>>10648092I'm glad they released it early! I've been looking forward to seeing it. The choreography is really interesting and I think it gives the MV lots of rewatchability. The motions are both fast and flowing, don't look overly cluttered, and at times, kind of subvert your expectations for where the movement ends up. I really like this choreography! The camerawork is really nice too, and those outfits are truly gorgeous.
>>10648092>the plan was to release it after 500 subsUgh, I hate these games where fans are supposed to reach an achievement in order to unlock content.
>>10648099You mean like gofundme and crowd funds? This is the norm
Reso release schedule
>>10648062Not really, beyond the most basic three note piano songs and a very brief history of choir and band when I was a kid. I know these things don't happen overnight, but maybe it's something i could work towards over a long enough period of time.
>>10648145Does that mean the song's going to come out in two weeks? I really hope it's not as bad as Goddess this time.
>>10648161I think it's just the release date, not the actual release? Do they have to go through the full 30 days of kickstarter?
>>10648175It is just the release date, and they have to go through the full 30 days. I already supported but they don't charge you until the Kickstarter is over.
>>10648160I would start with musictheory.net. Andrew Huang also has a whole playlist for learning music theory and production. Next I'd say pick a daw and get a midi keyboard. Andrew Huang has a $10 app if you have an ios device that is really powerful and comparable to ableton. If you have a mac, logic is probably the easiest to pick up. Aside from that, ableton has a 90 day free trial. Even though it has a bit of a learning curve, it's a really powerful program. The ableton website also has a ton of guided courses on music theory and production for free. If you are really on a budget, people have gotten really big using just garageband too. I'm pretty sure pinkpantheress uses garageband and she has millions of plays and a super unique sound. I think Jedwill uses audacity and still has worked with big names in the pop music and DJ scene. It's not necessarily about the tools, but just how you use them. And I honestly wouldn't focus TOO much on theory before starting to make music. Obviously it's extremely helpful, but don't let it hinder your music creation. I'm trying to learn production too and it's not easy but it's really rewarding. Good luck!
https://youtu.be/ACTpY6pWSP8 Resoluscia's fan requested cover is live.
>>10648651Not a fan of the song but it sounded like a good cover and the video was cute.
>>10648651I like the cover overall, but the English translyrics make it a bit awkward to listen to. Maybe it's the timing/mixing of the vocals or the lyrics themselves, but they feel like they don't fit the song well. I think it would have been better if they stuck to just the Japanese version.
Is she going to come back to us after all of this?
>>10648099It's not so much about the fans reaching an achievement, but to ensure that the group has enough of a following to justify the amount of time & work that goes into things like new songs, music videos, etc. There's not a lot of point behind releasing something with that much effort if nobody will watch it. It's the same as small artists using Kickstarter, pre-orders etc to judge if a product is worth making.
>>10649066She was part of Idols a la Carte, and she was bullied really badly by Kazu (Tambourine) and Washu. She did do an Instagram live about it a while ago. I'm not sure if it's still up
>>10648651why did they mix english and japanese? I get it if they were japanese onomatopoeia but they're not, so it's weird.
>>10649702I don’t think so. I’d rather them keep the Japanese they can’t fit decent English into than force words.
>>10648651what were the fan choices besides this song?
i just noticed that resoluscia has videos on meotashi's yt channel instead of the resoluscia channel. why? seems like a big mistake.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmZJVl5RhrIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FChLyHMni44
>>10649796Yeah I found that weird too.
>>10649766Ice cream cake by Red velvet, can't stop me by twice, and say so from doja cat.
>>10649866wasnt that a long time ago? they just released the cover now?
>>10649868It was about 5 months ago when they held voting for the cover, yeah.
>>10649796Those are meotashi’s vlogs, she’s always done them for cons and stuff. It’s her own content that she made with the group, not the group’s content.
>>10649868It takes a long time to put together full vocals, art, music video, and mixing if you want it to be quality.
>>10649757or just do the entire thing in japanese since the english parts are atrocious and don't match syllables.
>>10650093It really doesn’t and they’ve done their other covers in English so why now would they do one in Japanese?
>>10650123More had Chinese and Korean, Miraculous had french.
>>10650235They were majority in English. They took out a lot of the Korean in More. My point is why would they do a fully japanese cover?
>>10650246Why not? The translyrics for this cover just weren't good, so people are saying that they would have been better off doing it fully in Japanese. I don't think Resoluscia has any unwritten rule saying that they can't cover something in Japanese.
>>10650253They used official funimation english lyrics, so i’d blame funimation before them for that.
>>10650253Because they’ve already established doing covers in English? They used the English version of Miraculous and added in the French. All the Korean and Chinese in More was done by Yooya.
>>10650313Just because they're doing mostly English covers doesn't mean that they can't do something in Japanese...your logic doesn't make sense. English covers aren't their "brand" yet because they're still starting out and this is only their third cover. They can change that at any time.
Off-topic, but did anyone watch Shining Idol Fest last week? Any thoughts?
>>10650344I tuned in for a few minutes, but I genuinely couldn't listen to the MCs talk. It was too hard to listen to.
>>10650344I genuinely forgot that it happened
>>10650343artists aren't allowed to try new things bleh bleh
>>10650344Shining is still trying to have festivals? They need to give up.....
>>10650343Their single is also in English. I feel like if they wanted to do it in Japanese they would’ve. So far every cover has been in English so again - if they wanted to do it in another language why wouldn’t they? Because they want to sing in English.
>>10650382wow an artist on their forth song has already done everything they can do....bleh bleh bleh
>>10650384Sorry you’re so upset over them doing translyrics I guess? It’s their choice so I don’t get why you’re pressed.
Keekihime birthday stream, she talks a ton about her idol, cosplay, music career and life in japanhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oALRNgCj6rM
>>10650303I watched the entire anime in japanese and english. Show by rock doesn't have an english version of the opening. If funimation subbed the song at any point in the anime, it still wouldn't make the lyrics actually fit the music.
>>10650464It definitely does, if you watch the dubbed version.
>>10650435Sorry, the bleh bleh bleh was meant to be a clear indication of sarcasm. An artist on their forth song is obviously not locked to what they've already lol
>>10650475ok, my bad, i guess it does in the very last episode. Still, Resoluscia adlibbed a bit and then just straight up didn't do sections. Still doesn't justify the random ass japanese that feels very out of place.
Holy fuck stop being picky and shut up. One week people want idols to sing in English the next week Japanese. It doesn’t matter and they sound fine.
>>10650344I didn't enjoy the line up for day one and aside from the flautist most of the weaker acts were placed on that day I got bored and tuned out after 15 minutes of straight up para para. However I think day 2 was much stronger and the chat was more lively. I think the better acts helped with that.
Prismic won a judge’s choice award at Metrocon’s anime idol contest. Their vocals and dancing sounded and looked really good. I’m looking forward to their official cover release of their song because they sounded a little quiet on stage.
>>10650823Tbh they should've gotten best in show. The winner wasn't bad, but Prismic was really in sync and their vocals were pretty stable.
>>10650828Idk, the best in show was really good. Prismic is definitely high up there though. I would’ve given them best performance probably because their choreo was super smooth
>>10650835Honestly I think the songs they choose are too safe and easy to get good at. Probably why it didn't impress much.
>>10648531Thank you kind anon! I think learning chords and scales will be particularly helpful for me in structuring songs. Mostly, I've been messing around in bandlab. I notice a lot of commentary youtubers and just damn near anyone is making original music now and I don't know if it's because they picked it up or if they're just paying people to do it for them.
Any new debuts releases or group updates?
>>10651459Rinzi from melopara left the group. Seems to be really hard to keep a group of 4+ together I feel like.
>>10651459A new group idoll academy revealed members and a video. One is fat.
>>10651459i dont follow julily but i just found this collab she did with cece and ayumi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DBp-K66WCs
I remember watching a melopara stream a while ago and rinzi really looked like she didn't want to be there, so I wasn't surprised when they announced she was leaving the group
>>10651679>>10651461 Marmalade is now the only original member left from Aquaria... really says something about her.
>>10651736Don't you just love vague and passive aggressive posts like these that will never expand upon their comment? Really says something about jealousy.
auracle, prismic, and resoluscia all did hallway performances at metrocon and they all went off ngl auracle debuted black mamba as well, but the recording was not great so im excited for the official release
>>10652168Sure, it's passive aggressive, but I mean, you can read between the lines, especially given there's been posts about her previously...
>>10652433Please see >>10651748
>>10652433Bitch, most of us aren’t that invested in these groups, either post some proof/ details or stop stirring an empty pot
>>10652394Sage for slight OT but has Resoluscia released their new member on their Kickstarter? I was at Metro and got a flyer and I noticed that it had 5 members but their social media doesn't have anything
>>10652557no, it'll get released sometime this weekend, but post the flyer because i want to see the teaser rofl
>>10653255My first thought was that Tauri was back and masc now, but I looked at her Insta and that’s not it. Don’t think it’s Koda, the arm’s too dark. With how Stellure found members that weren’t expected, per se, I’d not be surprised if it was someone relatively unknown!

>>10653536>Weiss Oliver will be portrayed and voice acted by Charlie (@madoka.gif)
from project shootingstarshttps://www.instagram.com/projectshootingstars/
>>10653459>>10653536My prediction was correct, no clue who this is but excited to see them do some original stuff!!
i wonder how long until they get more members
>>10653610Not related but Calina would be a good fit for Reso desu>>10653537>>10653536I watched some of the pss videos and she seems like an okay dancer. Nothing spectacular. Hopefully she's a decent singer.
>>10653627Are they themselves trans or are they just larping as their character? It's hard to tell
>>10653536This is nitpicky but the age says 25 but they should be 26.
>>10653645he has his pronouns on his insta account (@madoka.gif posted above) my dude
>>10653651NTAYRT but I looked all over their page and find no pronouns.
>>10653645i see on his insta that he cosplays as both male and female characters. maybe he's just cool with playing female roles?>>10653664i dont see that on my app or on the website. must be on a newer version of the app.
>>10653664Didn’t show up until I followed them.
>tfw no folksy country idol groups, ever
>>10653924How would you dress up cousin fucking and gun humping as a cutesy concept?
>>10654016I stand corrected
Who do you all think are the prettiest idols visually?
>>10654112Bambi from Prismic
Tea from melopara and monii from reso (tho monii hasn't done much for me to consider her a real part of the idol community yet)
>>10654112Of my favorites, Ayumi and May from prismic
>>10654112Probably Eira and Alex Pinku (soloists), and Deja from Peachy Parade + Han from Quartesque (group members).
>>10654112Yui from ACT102
Pengy, Aleks from Amuse, Stella and Miyu from Non Sweet.
I'm more interested in who is the best dancer... imo Alex pinku
>>10655125i think lolly from amuse is up there in dancing and even stage presense
>>10655125I don't know if you'd count her as an idol but I love Juju's dancing
>>10655390Lolly needs to learn self control. She dances like a crack head and half the time you can't tell where her movements end or begin its just aimless and wild flailing.
>>10655125strictly from what I've seen online, vi/nikki from reso seems like a great dancer. sharp movements and good expressions
>>10655946are there Australians on this thread now?bc she really does not lolyou sound bitter af
>>10654239Tea is very pretty. I like Rinzi but I am sad she had to leave the group.
>>10655946bro shes a better dancer overall compared to the other groups in australiamost of them cant even dance
>>10655949Agreed. Nikki does the choreos for Reso, doesn't she?
>>10656232> openly critiques a single member of amuse.> most members of dance groups across the country are garbage Imagine needing to call the rest of the country shit so you can attempt to talk up one average at best wannabe 'idol'. What a joke lmao. Why are the amuse fans so toxic.
>>10656306not saying that other groups arent good at other things. like singingliterally name people in australias idol community that are good dancers i can only think of a few
>>10656306okay you obviously have a vendetta lmao
heard calina might get the boot soon
I didnt go to otakon, how are the performances so far?
>>10656691Sounds like they went ok. The cosplay contest was really where it was at omg.
>>10656272feels like the vlogs and q&a say that Nikki does a lot of it, but they work together. but Nikki's covers are fire so im excited to see more original dances from her
>>10656691Nothing that has Jenni Bon or Barri in it is worth while. Sonadira, Alex Pinku, and iDoll Academy were great though.
>new reso mv drops in mid octoberwhy so late?
>>10656941the kickstarter isnt even done yet my dude
>>10656906All of the idols had solo panel stages this year. You could have at least looked that up and tried harder to pretend you were there.
>>10656960Who said I was pretending I was there? Just seeing what was on instagram was a good preview of what was there.
>>10656960NTAYRT but Jenni and Barri DID perform and they were, no surprise, bad. Why did anon have to “pretend” to be at the event when idols who attended were sharing clips?
>>10657045Is Jenni pregnant or did she just get really fat? She somehow found a way to get uglier too
>>10657053The whole showcase was so badly run too. We should all really email Otakon to have it taken off of her. She’s not even an idol, she’s a cam girl and shouldn’t be performing let alone running anything
Way to project your insecurities onto others to comment on someones weight
Lots of hate from clowns that: A) Wouldn’t perform live, and if they did it’d probably suck harder than what they’re anon shading. B) Wouldn’t organize an event, and if they did it’s guaranteed to be a train wreck. C) Not going to post content. Grow up. If you were actually there and you cheered in their face to just come here and shit on them you’re the worst kind of person.
>>10656691I went to a couple of shows on Saturday and they were all pretty good. There wasn’t a bih attendance at any, but the room was also in a weird place. I would have left my response at just that but because of some of the above comments I’ll give a review of the shows I saw.The first one was the Sona, Jenni, Alex show which I came in late to and caught Sona’s last two songs. She sang one and danced one and both were really impressive. She was very nervous speaking and that was the only flaw. Jenni was next and she was the only one of the three who sang and danced to all of her songs. She had great stamina and was also the most comfortable of the three speaking, which was even more impressive because she never sounded out of breath. She was very fun to watch. Alex was last and as expected was great. She danced the most but that led to her being very out of breath when she sang. She used a back track for a few songs, and I think she could have gotten away with using one for all of them so that she didn’t have to rely on singing live. Both Alex and Jenni had some volume issues, but I couldn’t tell if Sona did in the rest of her set. The had the second biggest turn out of the shows that I saw.I came back later and saw another 3, Noa, a Rin cosplayer, and iDoll. Noa I came in late for but she was so talented and is the next idol for us to watch. Seriously, look her up, I became an instant fan. The Rin cosplayer was also really talented and she did a Chinese song. I loved it. iDoll was the last I saw, and they had the smallest crowd, maybe 30 people. They were really amazing up until the music cut out and seemed like they were panicking. The crowd started a chant for them while they fixed their music and they recovered well for the rest of that song, but I guess they were shaken up on their second which was a shame because I was looking forward to seeing them.
>>10657260(Same anon, continued)IDoll did only 2 songs, which was the smallest amount of any that I saw. It was an unfortunate debut, but I hope to see more from them. The last show I planned to see was the Samii, Nye, Cure show. It started very late so I was only able to see Samii. Her show had great voice overs and she seemed very immersed in her show. I couldn’t hear her voice in her mic for some of it, which is my only critique other than the late start. After she ended, it took them a very long time to switch to the next act, and I had to leave to meet up with my friends so I didn’t see the rest.I liked all of the performances that I saw and I didn’t see a single song that I would have considered bad. Noa was the talent stand out, but I would say that all of the other acts were comparable.
>>10657261Wasn’t there but definitely feel for the one with technical difficulties. They can be hard to deal with even with experience, so that must have hit hard. Thanks for giving us your opinion for those of us who weren’t there!
>Our next single is very different from "Timeslip", but still fits Non Sweet perfectly. It's an energetic song with an uplifting message.new song already? that was quick.
>>10657636It seems like they’re trying to be a professional group ie always working and ready to release music.
Angelic Convention Online is coming back this year. After the drama that unfolded last year, I’ll be giving it a miss… lmao.
>>10657941I wonder is anyone going to say anything about it..... That was an ugly unfolding last year.
>>10657941I've never heard of it, what happened?
>>10657636I'm loving Non Sweet, can't believe how small their following is for their quality. They're the most professional of the small idol groups and I hope they can make it big.
>>10657970If the other talented idols in the community had a producer backing them, I think they could also be big too!
>>10657970same anon as before, no shade intended, I read over what I wrote and realized it could be taken as shade so my bad.
i like how nonsweet is recording in a closet
>>10657954Ended up doxxing one of their rejected applicants - who they rejected for being affiliated with a group she had never even been affiliated with - and refused to take responsibility or apologise for the doxxing. There were some accusations of racism too but that was more ambiguous.
>>10657056for hours of programming that started planning a month and a half out, it really went fine for a first year swing at this type of programmingalso just say you hate girls who do sexy cosplay and go
>>10657941They rejected Jenny and Kuro for being in a group with Grace even though Kuro has never even done a collaboration with her, let alone in the same group. Then a bunch of people got sent screenshots of emails from the applicants including their real names, and people ended up posting them publicly. The one who’s post got traction honestly didn’t surprise me as she’s never been a part of the idol community but she’s been part of a hate train against Grace for a long time. Anyone actually in the community would know that Kuro and Grace aren’t even in the same country... As anon said above there was also racist comments made, but that wasn’t by ACO directly, but by people ACO sent the screenshots to, so I would assume they are friends.
aespa makes me want to scream and not in a good way but at least auracle's cover looks like it could be funhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7_0qv8iK-E
>>10658162>>10658191They never apologized??? Ew. I hope no one applies, that’s really gross.
Kazu Victims: there is audio going around of a ZOC member verbally and physically assaulting another member and it may trigger or remind you of your Kazu abusePlease be weary. We support you.
>>10658282it's out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ireNM5JZueo
>>10658991auracle dancing and vocals are killer as always
>>10658991I don’t know about killer dance but their vocals are really nice. I would really like for them to work on their control and sharpening movements though if they are going to start doing more kpop dances. Not to say they are bad or sloppy, but because they don’t have as much control over themselves as they should or could, the quality of the dance is brought down. The same can be seen in their other kpop cover. It really nice to see groups go out of their normal zones and do something different than the normal jpop and I hope over time Auracle works on improving their dancing for kpop style.
>>10659085This. It’s true and is something all dancers should work towards. It’s amazing the improvements they made up to this point and I hope they can keep that up. Regardless, I enjoyed it and I’m happy to see this quality in the community. Props to the constructive criticism.
>>10658984Can we stop talking about the kazu stuff it’s dry af and nobody cares
>>10659115no kazu, we won't just let this die
>>10659115>people getting verbally and physically abused by kazu is drykazu just accept this will follow you for the rest of your life
>>10659122Some mentally stunted girl made a livestream about kazu, so what? You guys keep shitting up the threads with this crap. Literally nothing has been done and so far that one girl is the only person to publicly speak out about what happened. You keep talking about how “they will pay” or “we won’t let this die” and NOTHING has been done nor will anything come of this because you all have no basis for your claims. WWGK8
>>10659128>physically abusedLiterally where is this coming from, that’s a heavy accusation.
>>10659133Ok Washu.>>10659085I agree. The vocals were alright, also. I think they may have just chosen a song that's harder to sing.
>>10659144Not washu, I’m just absolutely tired of having to read this shit in literally every single idol thread. Either shit or get off the pot at this point, it does no good to keep regurgitating the same bs when nothing happens.
>>10659151>I’m just absolutely tired of having to read this shit in literally every single idol threadthis
Kuro posted a video on her Instagram about last year’s ACO mess
>>10659336Oh shit….. I’m gonna go look, but what’s your opinion?
>>10659353Ok I just looked. Other than the fact that she seemed like a coked out squirrel in her speaking, I can tell it made her nervous talking about it. I also saw the screenshots…. Idk how they plan on explaining this…..
>>10659336>>10659374What’s the context for this I don’t understand
Ayumi’s releasing her first original tomorrow https://www.instagram.com/p/CSmP7QuIUre/?utm_medium=copy_link
Resoluscia posted their song preview, it's a jazzy song with Nikki as the center.
>check reso's kickstarter>someone dropped a $1,000 pledgepog
>>10659659I love the sound of the instrumental. It sounds really nice & high quality.
>>10659659They're really on a roll, the song sounds good. I'm excited for the release.
Ayumi's original is out. It's a cute song. https://youtube.com/watch?v=hDni3eo7nK8&feature=youtu.be
>>10659978Wow, she did really well for her first song! Definitely exceeded the expectations I usually have for an idol debut lmao
>>10659978This is so high-quality and catchy, I am really impressed!
only now listening to paida's ep and i really like first contact alot. im surprised by how few plays it has. i legit put it on repeat after checking out the rest of the songs.
>>10660265not to take away from this at all, but i wouldn't consider it her idol debut, she's been doing amazing idol covers and content with other creators for years. It's just her first original song.
Sage for off topic, but since Holiday Matsuri opened their idol fest applications a while ago does anyone have lineup guesses?
>>10660486if it's not at least resoluscia, prismic, and auracle ill be very surprised
>>10660486I wonder if they'll actually have soloists featured this year
>>10660525I kind of hope so. Soloists deserve more chances even if they can't take up a stage.
>>10660486I saw Ayumi applied to Holiday Matsuri and after seeing her original, I'd love to see her do that onstage.
tried it a few times but didnt like ayumi's song
>>10660293same, i can't get it out of my head lol
>>10661779Might be her girlfriend? She mentioned having a girlfriend in an episode of BB
>>10661779That’s one of the leaders of Cafe Peko Peko, if I’m not mistaken. Calina’s been a maid there for a while. Could still also be a gf tho lol
prismic's cover of Snow Fairy just droppedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYmb6XGB17Y
>>10662292This was... uninteresting to watch
>>10662294It was a solid entry for them in terms of their outfits, dancing, videography, and editing. It’s nice to see that the quality in that area hasn’t gone down one bit. I think the main thing bogging them down is that the vocals of the original song is a little low for their group’s range, which just makes the cover sound… boring. Plus the choreography isn’t interesting either, but they tried their best coming up with it themselves. Hopefully they’ll get better and better as they go on.
>>10662304i also thought it was a little lackluster, song and dance, but the videography was really poor. felt out of focus a lot of the time, like it was filmed on an older phone.
dear diary,the ass was fat.
>>10662407vintage meme collection called, it's for you
this was release yeterdayhttps://youtu.be/WLRZ7YCYFWMfrom Australia. they got idols from different aus groups to do this.
>>10662442what the fuck am i listening to
has the spreadsheet been updated recently?
>>10662642ctrl f spreadsheet in this thread
>>10662307The focusing issues were relatively minor throughout the whole video. Some of the cuts were unmotivated and didn’t flow well, but I’m going to be honest and say my expectations aren’t high for most of these idol groups because they don’t have the budget, time, or experience typically for a better team. In short, stop just pointing out the bad. The song was pretty good, their performance was fitting, and they’re out actually doing the thing.
>>10662681I thought it was nice too! I guess personally I really loved their odoru flagship cover, and that might’ve raised my expectations too high for this release lol. But it’s still a good cover overall. I’m definitely still a fan and I look forward to more stuff from them.
>>10663241The vocal quality of the green girl compared to the pink and blue is so much higher that the individual lines of the other two was so jarring. It actually surprised me.
>>10663241Oh god, these kind of ‘English covers’ are the worst. An English cover is not just singing the direct translation of the lyrics. Either sing the original language or put in the effort to write a proper English cover, or at the very least use someone else’s English cover lyrics. This sounded so awkward.
>>10663241Why do they all look like they want to dieAlso do the pink and blue girl not hear themselves during editing, like I don't get how people can record awful off-tune songs and put them on the internet so confidently
>>10663241Why did the yellow girl hold the mic like thatThe only good thing about this cover is the green girl's vocals, but the unenthusiasm of the whole video just kinda killed everything overall.
>>10663241It's refreshing to see a group that does their own instrumentals, the band was pretty good. The girl in green has a nice voice. The blue and pink girls should not have been given a microphone. Out of pitch. Out of tune. Can barely understand what language they're attempting to sing in. They drag the quality of the overall cover way down.
>>10663241What really confuses me is why is this video on the blue and pink ones channel. Clearly deserved to be posted on the bands. The green one carried the whole song while the blue and pink dragged the quality down.
There's much more attention for idol groups than solo idols. What kinds of things do you think a solo idol could do to remain interesting?
>>10664027I think in general, a solo idol can only be interesting if they have decent vocal and dance skill but also unique branding or visuals. Just please anything besides a "pink idol here to make you smile~!" because I just might off myself if we get anymore of those popping up. So in short, don't be a cliché and you're automatically interesting.
>>10664135NAYRT but that's specific, lol, are there really that many? the only one I've seen (that is worth watching to me) is Ayumi. It may be a cliché but as long as you know how to sing and/or dance and are willing to improve, that's an interesting idol to me. Interesting concept is a bonus.
>>10664139Ayumi is the only one who pulls it off and actually puts in the effort, but in my own opinion her branding isn't interesting to me at all just because a lot of no-content idols out there have the same exact thing going on that I've seen prior to Ayumi blowing up. Dare I even say Sakura Hana had the exact same motif as her lol
>>10664143 yeah, I can understand that.
>>10664143Is she uninteresting because her only motif or shtick is being a "wanna make you smile!" Girly idol?
>>10664027I mean we know most of these idols either can’t, or won’t, put in the funds for their stuff, and a lot of them make their own. I honestly can appreciate an idol who goes at it with whatever resources they have. They are interesting to me, and I like seeing what they usually can put out. I’d like paida a little more, but she’s a bit inconsistent and honestly after hearing her album, she’s a tad bit overhyped. Ayumi is cool, but she’s way too much of the typical “I’m here to make you smile!” type of idol and it comes off as a little fake…. Her song makes up for it though.Mainly, I wish people were consistent with posting. There’s one idol I was looking forward to seeing this year, but they’ve been on hiatus, posting sporadically. I feel like consistency is the key to being interesting.
>>10664216Skill can be appreciated but branding can be judged, so yes. There's more talented people out there with more unique themes, so Ayumi simply isn't my preference.
Any recommendations for solo idols? Tbh I’ve mostly been following groups so I’d love to know if there’s any decent soloists worth following
>>10664378What about those who just want to have themselves as a brand and not necessarily a theme of some sort? Like Phoebe is another idol that's just pink and girly. Would you say idols with actual unique themes is a better or more entertaining choice than those who just brand as "self"?
>>10664418From how I see it, soloists typically wouldn't choose a random theme just to be different, it's usually an extension of their own personality or interests. I'm not saying Ayumi or others who go the generic cutesy pink route aren't being themselves, I'm just saying as *personal opinion* it's not my cup of tea simply because it's harder to pinpoint the individualism in it most of the time.
>>10664418>>10664422Same anon but an example of what I mean is, soloists whose image colors are blue for example, don't usually have any similarities between other blue idols, same goes for other colors, it's only pink there seems to be a constant stereotype or trope thats played by idols who have pink image colors. (Being cute, soft, only wanting to make you smile, etc.) it's just generally less unique overall, especially with how common those tropes are in even anime. Power to those who enjoy that type of thing though!
>>10664425I kind of disagree. One idol who comes to mind theme is pink but she goes down the mentally ill route and tends to mix in darker themes.....
>>10664472One person doesn’t change the fact that pink is more or less always associated with cute happy styles. In idol groups and with soloists, pink members are usually cute/bubbly and red is usually cool and a leader.
>>10664301fake is a bit strong of a word, imo. I know her personally and she's very much the same person online as she is off. BUT I can definitely see where you're coming from. I think she's unique since she takes the variety route.
>>10664301>There’s one idol I was looking forward to seeing this year, but they’ve been on hiatus, posting sporadically.Who was it anonWho disappointed you
Amuse Project released a new songhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2p54R9bwBY
>>10664726wtf is this
>tfw no emily gf
>>10664726I like the visuals and the actual instrumental track. The audio is dreadful though. Even when I turned it up I could not figure out half of what they were saying. They lack clarity in their enunciation when singing for at least 75% of the song. It sounds like a sloppy mess.
>>10665018i'm not sure if i love this or hate it.
>>10665104It sounds like the vocals have been crunched, I don’t think it’s the voices themselves? When you compare with the last line there’s a difference in clarity
>>10664726hated it at first then i had to come back a few mins later to listen again. became addicted after that. not sure why. the song sounds like it belongs in a video game ost.
/Tokyo Idol Festival A group called Neonism from Syd got selected for a super big name Idol Festival in Tokyo. I did a little digging because I’m a fan of Amuse from the same country: Neonism has one original song which is half overture, they’re recent YouTube Live that was posted here got 9 views on average. They’re Instagram has like 250 followers and they’re YouTube even less?Seems a bit fishy honestly. I wouldn’t put them on the same level their Brisbane counterpart at all.
>>10665454who else in aus would you have in the lineup then, genuinely curious? from their digest video they seem okay (also they do have another original song too i think?)
>>10665454Tokyo Idol Festival has always been a mix bag event when it comes to followings. Even groups with the biggest fan fanbases haven't gotten in.
>>10665302I really enjoyed this! They're definitely a group I'm sure to follow
>>10665302i love them so much esp jessica miyu and emily. definitely one of my fave net idol groups atm
auracle's mocha deleted her instagram, wonder what's happening there
>>10665598Something with kazu I assume
>>10665786why would it have something to do with kazu?
>>10665598Probably for namefagging on lolcow
>>10665454what does it take to get into TIF?
>>10647427>Danzoo DashThey are disbanded according to posts on their twitter and insta.
>>10665856Not a lot apparently if those two groups made the cut
>>10666341you sound hurt
>>10666341salty.. sounds like you mustn't have made that cut :/
>>10666341don't cut yourself on that edge
>>10666341don’t be shy, post your covers honey since you’re so confident in your skills you bash others who are working harder than you :) waiting on your reply!
>>10666777this is like that image of shit, literal feces, on a framed canvas being discussed by two people:"I could do that!" "But you didn't"
This may not be the place to ask, but I honestly don't know where else to go.Someone in the idol community had created an original song, but they stole the title and concept from me without offering any credit. They begrudgingly did after I pestered them about it, but I'm still mad about it just because their whole attitude was really shitty... I'm wondering if I should make them cease and desist or if I even have the grounds to. Yes, I have evidence because they admitted that the title and concept were mine in DMs.
>>10666876Hate to break it to you anon, but this is not grounds for any kind of legal issuing whatsoever. If they credited you already, leave it alone. If we're talking titles and concepts, everything you've thought of has already been thought of before. Lyrics are another thing. I assume you didn't write any of them, since all you mentioned was the song title and concept. TL;DR No, chill out, dude, it's not that deep. You got credited after speaking with them.
>>10666876talk to a lawyer and maybe tell us who it was
>>10666909So the lawyer can waste their time?
>>10666913Alot of them offer free consultations to see if you have a case or not.
>>10666876Don't share your ideas in future, keep them to yourself until you've released it. There's not a lot you can do otherwise as they're not likely to make a lot of money out of it. If you feel that strongly you can make a callout post but is it really worth it?
>>10666876>>10666921They don’t.I don’t think you realize how absolutely minimal a “concept” and “title” are for a song? You’ve done none of the work for the song, you have no claim to it. There are a million songs with the same title/concept as each other, what matters is the song itself. This would be like someone suing IKEA for also making a blue desk.
>>10666925This, this, this. It sounds like OP is just mad the song was successful and wants to hop on the tails of the person who actually wrote it.
Looks like the Holmat acceptances went out recently. Prismic and a few cosidol groups have announced acceptances so far. I'm hoping to see Resoluscia and Auracle in the line up as well. >>10666876Take the credit, remind them to do in the future and let it go. Legally, there's not really anything you can do anon. Sorry to hear it happened.
>>10666876No wonder they had a bad attitude. Sounds like you didn’t write any of it, nor did you do any of the production and work that goes into an original song. You got credit, so why even post here? “Should I send a cease and desist?” Good god, you need a life.
ITT: justifying theftlet this be a warning to everyone, never share your ideas with people in this community
>>10666998it’s a fucking title, if someone i follow wears a cute dress and i buy it, is it intellectual theft???? grow up, your ideas are not that important or specialbut yes, feel free not to share your ideas, i’m sure the rest of us will be absolutely bereft without your incredibly meaningful contributions. what have you done lately? put up or shut up
Same anon about the song as before. I didn't think so many people would reply so I'll try to address everyone at once instead of individually replying. I apologize if I end up missing something.Part of the song lyrics had been written years ago, but after the group we were part of disbanded, I thought everything from the group had been deleted. I didn't realize that she had held onto everything.I recognize the lyrics a good 70% of the lyrics in the song, some was obviously different, but I can't say for certain if those old lyrics were mine because it's been so long. The lyrics were a collaborative effort as well, so it could very well have been I had the idea for what a line could communicate and she wrote it out and vice versa. It's a grey area which is why I'm not claiming total ownership for the lyrics.I understand you may think a title and concept don't contribute anything important to a song, but if that were really the case, then why couldn't she create a song without using my idea?I'm trying to ride off her coat tails. I create original songs as well. By her stealing my ideas, those are ideas I can't use anymore. I understand there's nothing I can do about now at this point though so I'll let it go like you say. Thanks for the input everyone.
>>10667003unless you have proof then none of us care.
>>10667003Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do. Credit was given even if it was begrudgingly. There’s no way to copyright or trademark a concept or title due to how easy it’d be for someone else to have the same thing. Even if she’s wrong morally, it was still a project she worked on and helped with which, if you shared, she really has every right to.Also want to point this out: riding by someone else’s coattails will get you nowhere. If anything it makes you look more scummy and makes it look like you can’t do the work yourself.
>>10667003You sound like a jealous piss baby. Go get some help and write a better song than her if you’re so confident.
>>10667003If the group you two were in disbanded years ago and you're pissed about this to point of trying to take legal action, I wouldn't be surprised if you were the reason why the group disbanded.
>>10666876name and shaaaame
>>10667003So, by that logic, if you had decided to use those ideas, you’d totally agree that she could “sue” you for using her lyrics? Get a grip and get over it, anon. The reason why you’re irrelevant is because you care too much about what others are doing.
>>10667126NAYRT but I get the feeling this is about Ayumi’s recently released song Starting Line. The description of the song’s YouTube video match what this anon is claiming, and Ayumi put this on her Instagram story today. Ofc she hasn’t specified what this stream is about but I feel like it could be about the song.
>>10667372Honestly I was wondering if it was dealing with Ayumi and if it is, that makes this even sillier because the concept is so used even in Japan.
>>10667376anon just sounds autistic. and what's the point? she clearly doesn't want to go pro the music industry would destroy her if she can't even deal with something like this. she just sounds bitter.
>>10667385>anon just sounds autisticNo.Don’t be that person.
>>10667003just say you’re jealous of Ayumi and go.
>>10667376Not OP but even if trying to go the legal action route is clearly not feasible, it doesn't change the fact that this was a cunt move on ayumi's part. Imagine working on something together (or even personally yourself) with someone you consider a friend and then that person takes it and makes it their SOLO song without even asking you if you're okay with it. Its just shitty. And I can offer sympathy. There's nothing that can be done about it, yeah. But I also understand it does hurt a lot and to think anyone would do that is horrible.
>>10667434At first the OP said it was just the title and concept, then they started talking about '70% of the lyrics.' That's a BIG leap and it's a little weird. I'm waiting to hear Ayumi's side of the story (if she even shares it) before making a judgement call here, if this is definitely about her.
>>10667434>this was a cunt move on ayumi's partNot really? Anon said it was years ago and like >>10667448 said, it was only the second post where anon suddenly remembered lyrics. Before they were only concerned about concept and title. Sorry but the sudden change in story is a red flag. She gave them credit like they asked when they clearly just want to ride the fame (like they clearly stated).>>10667003Also, to you,>I understand you may think a title and concept don't contribute anything important to a song, but if that were really the case, then why couldn't she create a song without using my idea?Nobody said it doesn’t contribute, but it’s minimal. They aren’t the most important parts. By your own logic, why would it matter that she used “your” idea (which is fairly common and I’m sure you grabbed from somewhere else).
is this anon going about Ayumi's song? I do remember she mentioned some of the lyrics were written from being in a previous group before? I may be wrong.
Lmao they posted a callout post and it’s as whiny and entitled sounding as you’d expect
>>10667698Ayumi stated multiple times she asked permission to use the song as a solo and she did credit so many people idk what theyre so up in arms about jfc
>>10667698The difference between this and Facebook is that with Facebook, they ACTUALLY had their work stolen and claimed as their own and Mark refused to give credit.
>>10667698She claimed the “riding the coat tails” was a typo. How the fuck do you typo that. Just admit you wanted to get fame the scummy and easy way.
>>10667698ayumi and her friend sound like fun
the TIF foreign idols only got a few seconds of air time on the stream??
>>10667698It's even more ridiculous considering she said in the screens Ayumi posted that she "remembers she came up with the title because she conned it off of Start:Dash" so by her logic KLab could consider suing her for stealing their concept title lmao. Ayumi seemed pretty easygoing as opposed to begruding in those screens and for what I can see from the op, admirably so bc I would've lost it
I love Starting Line, and the race motif is cute, but that's not a unique enough concept to have any real claim over it or the work that went into the song. You had a cute idea that didn't pan out, and years later Ayumi did the actual work of turning it into a cute debut song. Sorry, but this is petty. Work on developing those good ideas into full products, and then if someone steals those, you have grounds to complain.
It just sounds like jealousy that someone did a better job than they ever could have done. Concepts are used and repeated all the time. As for the lyrics, Ayumi rewrote them.Great timing how they only spoke out once the song was released and got good traction.
little over a month to go
paida is releasing a single this friday
Rip triad regality
>>10668560They announced they're disbanding on their Instagram.
Anyone go to the idol panels at San Japan? I left my penlight at home and was tired so I kinda just left and didn't see any of them. Supposedly they were kinda mediocre with most of the idol community not even going to this con.
anyone watch meotashi's debut stream?
>>10668017>>10668159I'm thinking somebody got recommended Aikatsu on youtube, and grabbed concepts from here. When Ayumi made the video I thought she took the concept from Start Line anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ftQVfbiRychttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFH9MbiP4GE
>>10667698I'm late to the party and just caught up on here, Ayumi's, and OP's stories and I have to say: I really commend Ayumi for dealing with this with such poise and calm because I would have blown a fuse. I feel so bad for Ayumi dealing with all this. The fact that OP was still trying to drag Ayumi after it was all over and Ayumi just ended it on "This is the full situation, with evidence, as it stands on my end." and hasn't continued feeding the flames while OP is trying to feed the flames and "expose" Ayumi.Just take the L, OP. You got caught lying and you're digging yourself a deeper hole.
Calina was kicked out of big brother. I wonder if she'll come back to us.
>>10668178is it just me or do these costumes look bought? i don’t think they made these
>>10670577I don’t think they ever said they made them? Besides maybe they’ll use a different set for actual dancing.
>>10670587true true. the kickstarted just said they already sourced all the materials for their costumes so i figured they were making them
>>10670587True. They also had two outfits for Goddess, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have another one they haven't revealed yet.
Some conversation topics that can be carried over to next thread because things are boring af in this one (I’d make a new one but I’m on mobile)> Paida released a new single, Future Town> A bunch of SATX idols are performing at an event organized by Deadly Sweet Maid Café > Mocha is back on Insta> PureSmile released his first EP> Risa Rosé is working on a two-song release> Kurohime seems to be coming back, although slowly (I’m glad she’s doing better)> The fictional idolsona group Urania’s Mirror released their first single (and it’s actually one of my favorite overseas idol songs I’ve heard)Don’t think I could name everyone working on originals, people seem to have discovered that they can commission composers fairly easily nowadays. I know there’s a bunch of people who haven’t debuted yet that are working on stuff, like the girl who’s first single is called Vulture.
>>10671539I guess you mean Plazmatriq? I liked the vibes of Vulture, it sounded interesting. Shame it seems like the posts about it on her page have been taken down
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oSHs6RYRfUI&feature=youtu.bemeotashi is releasing her solo album soon, here's the trailer. the clips we can hear sound pretty good, she's grown a lot as a vocalist imo
>>10671706plasma posted in her highlights that it was delayed because she's moving, but it'll still be released
>>10671815where she getting all this money
>>10671815This sounds pretty good. I especially like Highlight. Kinda has a k-pop feel. Looking forward to hearing the album in full.
>>10671821Probably from commissions and the merch she created to support the album
>>10671815The quality of these sounds great.I feel like a hater for saying this, but I just don't like the tone of her voice. I think it's too... full of air? Still like seeing her succeed, just wanted to voice my irrelevant and insignificant opinion.
>>10671539>PaidaMuch better than the album, I won’t lie….>MochaWhy did she leave? Was there drama?>PureSmiileGood for him! His work is amazing and his voice is so pleasing to hear, I’m glad to hear more from here>Risa RoséShe’s somehow improving yet not quite improving, but I’m really interested in this EP….>KuroGood for her. She seemed to be super devastated, but I hope that she uses the pain and gives some amazing music. >Urania’s MirrorHaven’t heard of them, I’ll check them out!
>>10671934I can't help but notice the heavy vocal editing in some of these as a vocalist myself, but regardless I do agree she has improved.
