Washing machine, cold water, delicate, in a garment bag. I take out of the garment bag and put it in the dryer on air fluff. I wash it 1x a month since it doesn't touch my skin

What are my options if i have like $500 to drop on a medium size bag for otome/classic lolita daily use? I don’t like jane marple.

If you can find a Mary Magdalene doctor bag, that’s probably your best choice. But there aren’t many left out there.

Urgent question!
If two people bid on the same item on different platforms (one on fb sales comm, one on lace market), who do you give it to?
>>
>>10644953
I'd sell it to the person who bid or paid first.
>>
>>10644954
Sorry for not being clear, they both bid overnight.
>>
>>10644956

...anon did they bid the same milisecond? Who was first?
>>
>>10644956
You can see which took place first, check the time on the comment, and the time on the LaceMarket email (you get an email the second something sells)
>>
>>10644953
I hope you put in your TOS that the item was listed on different platforms. You're going to have a pissed-off buyer.
Honestly, I'd tell the lower offer/bid that someone else also bid/made an offer, and that they are welcome to counter-offer. Then give then the link to the other listing as proof. It's not fair to either party that you were double-listing the item.

I don’t think it’s likely to be possible. If you’re deadset and generally slender and are able to make your features more effeminate, maybe try gothic or ouji. Classic even maybe. If you really love pastel colours, look into men’s pastel jfashion. Yumekawaii and such.

Do you actually get nimble with a thimble?

I've started hand stitching way more and it's hurting my middle finger. I do all of the fine maneuvering with the thumb and index, so I guess I could sacrifice some nimbleness on my middle finger but... I've always felt that thimbles mess up my flow when stitching. Counter to that I've never sewn as much by hand as I am now. Is it worth getting one?

The historical costumers I've seen who sew garments with only hand-sewing swear by them. I've heard that they actually do come in sizes and you need to find the right fit which, much like bras, often contributes to many of the negative attributes people think of them. I would imagine you'll eventually learn to get comfortable with it as well. In terms of what type of thimble, again from the historical costumers, I've seen and heard many of them prefer leather ones over metal thimbles. I'm not sure what the specific use of metal thimbles are, but leather does seem to have more malleability and could feel better for you.

You have to be a little mental to pay brand prices for polyester dresses and resin jewelery. Then, the amount of money and effort that goes into building a good wardrobe and creating good coords brings out competitive and territorial behavior for many. This is natural with anything people get passionate about.

I want to get a maid outfit but one that is easy to wash and preferably cotton (gonna be doing housework in it).
Would maid lolita be a good fit?
Or would maid lolita be too delicate for this use?

Pic for inspo
>>
>>10646405
Maid lolita isn’t a thing anon. your pic isn’t lolita. It probably looks similar to lolita if you are a newbie.
lolita is about good quality, fine details and care in putting together an outfit. Your pic it looks like an idol costume from some chinese sweatshop. I guess it would work for doing housework.

You can look at miho matsuda if you want the equivalent of ‘maid lolita’ but i don’t think you want to spend $300 usd on an outfit to do chores in
>>
>>10646408
"maid lolita" is on par with like "sailor" or "pirate", more like a theme for a coord but not an actual substyle like people sometimes claim, and pretty much just adding an apron makes something maid-esque. Anon should just buy an apron desu, even daily lolitas just wear normal coords with aprons for chores if they do them in lolita.
>>
How much longer are Meta's lace OTKs compared to their UTKs? I have longer and thicker legs, so I'm afraid their UTKs might be a bit short on me to go right under the knee
>>
>>10646428
>>10646405
Maid lolita is not a thing. Alice in wonderland had an apron, older children's styles have aprons, that don't make them maids. Don't type like you fukken know what you're talking about, newfag.

Also, cleaning a house in lolita is such a LARPer thing to say. Yes, go ahead and get a collection of dust on a 300$ dress. Be my guest. If you think an apron will save it from getting dirty, then you're retarded.
>>
>>10646513
>>10646408
Bruh I just want to look cute doing housework. Literally said it in my post, no recommendations for buying a 300 dollar dress would be heeded.
I'm choosing between cosplay dresses, taobao "maid lolita" dresses and just buying whatever the material scrubs are made of and using a GLB to draft a maid lolita dress.
The pic was intended to show that I don't want something expensive.
There is no way >>10646513 looked at it and thought in good faith it was 300 USD. You can tell it is cheap.

Stop larping, talking about lolita is about being made of good materials when your wardrobe is probably 60%+ synthetics just makes you look hypocritical. >>10646408

The image isn't even maid lolita that you attached, that's nun inspired. Do you have an OF or something that you buy lolita with?

>>
>>10646829
nta but i find some of her music relatable because the lyrics are often based on her abusive relationships and family, but the ageplay esque aspect of some of her stuff makes me not really feel into it. K-12 film aesthetic was less babyish which was nice. dollhouse in particular was the song i found of hers first and really stuck with me as a teen because i had a family with abusive parents who just told us to ignore things and never tell people outside of the immediate household about it, even though everyone we knew thought we were all nice and happy despite all us kids being legit traumatized, abused, and neglected.

i hope she matures beyond some of her pettier 'i will steal your man' stuff like pacify her and that baby aesthetic in general, which it seems like she is trying to. i can appreciate the good parts of her music that i relate to and still hate that other part and don't really go around talking about liking any of her stuff, especially given the sexual assault/rape allegations (did those ever go anywhere or get confirmed or debunked or is it all still hearsay?)
>>

>>
Are most Japanese lolitas autists and crazies too?
>>
>>10646871
>She called AP adult baby clothes
>Also called AP vintage kids clothes in another interview

yeah i don't like that she did that and it's really annoying/wrong but that doesn't mean some people don't like certain aspects of her music

lolita was inspired to a degree by vintage clothing tho and kids just wore mini versions of adult clothes back in the day so vintage kids clothes isn't far off in a technical sense but does have connotations that are bad and we would all she rather not say those things.

don't like everything about her, but just offering a perspective on why some people may like some of her music, even if she is a problematic person and has done shitty things by comparing lolita to adult babies.
>>
>>10646874
Oh I know its inspired to a degree, but in the context of MM wearing AP during that tour and calling it vintage kids clothes, it just further underlines she sees it as age play. But it offers insight on why lolitas in specific hate her, even outside her music.

I’m relatively new to actually buying & selling lolita secondhand.

Is there a reason people on Lacemarket rarely include photos of them wearing the garment in their listings? It’s almost always a flat or mannequin pic. some people do. some dont. I like seeing what the item looks like on someone, but if the person is gross or obese or something else that would make me disgusted by the itme, then I would rather just see it and not on a person. Also, some people like being relatively anon
>>
>>10647762
Sometimes it's new and it doesn't flatter them, they've never worn it, it could not fit anymore, or it's been in storage and they don't feel like putting on a coord to sell it. What's the difference between a person vs mannequin wearing it anyway? Genuinely asking

Thanks nonnerinos, good to know!

Re: body vs mannequin Q, there is no significant difference, I think it just helps attract attention to the listing if it’s anything like other online secondhand shopping platforms I’ve sold on. and I also think it's lowkey creepy to ask a seller for photos of them wearing the item, especially if they already have posted photos of it on a mannequin (like that's literally why mannequins exist, so people don't have to put the clothes on their bodies)

Except nothing in that pic is lolita. When I said wider neck, I meant wider neck in lolita. Lolita has blouse collars that are close to the neck with flaps. That’s exactly what you don’t want with halter necks. You don’t want bulk under the halter straps, so you have to make sure the collar detailing is under the straps. That’s also the reason for the blouse in your pic.

If you're not ok with your clothes being pre worn then this might not be the fashion for you... A lot of older releases don't have worn stock photos available so I appreciate worn photos. There's nothing more annoying than having to imagine the fit of something you want to buy with no reference.

My proxy order is over $800 and my proxy isn’t super sure US customs will charge fees. (It looks like they do) They’re offering to change the price, would that be a good idea? Is this what “mark down” means? I’ve never made an order this big before.

I have similar measurements and avoid underbust items in lolita, they just look best with a small bust size

(this is at least when it comes to lolita, because underbust can work for a bigger bust when a bit of cleavage is allowed, in regular gothic outifts for example)

I've been looking for a new hobby, as of late. And i've stumbled upon Cosplaying. I have a few questions about it, and sorry if i get political (i spend maybe 8-10 hours a day on /pol/)
1)Are there any racial things i should look out for? Racially i am a brown hispanic man, and i see mostly white people, so is the community for whites or are all races welcome? (sorry for my obsession about race)
2)Is Cosplay a good hobby for the socially ackward? i am very shy and introverted and i'm trying to get out of my bubble by not settling for a hobby like gaming because they're all full of socially ackward men. Also i'm trying to even potentially meet some women but who knows.
3)What kinds of costs are involved? As i am a bit poor and don't make alot of money, what kind of budget should i set for my "Cosplay" or whatever.
Sorry if these are retarded questions, and thank you for answering them. also pic unrelated

The race questions are stupid so I'm glossing them over entirely. Cosplay is a money spending hobby -- there's no way around that. A costume isn't just the outfit, but it's also the full ensemble of wig, shoes, undergarments, tools, materials, prop, accessories, makeup, and etc. It is possible to spend as little as possible, but you will always be sacrificing one of the three in the pyramid: money, time, or effort. Although cosplay has become more accessible, it has a somewhat steep entry point regardless of whether you're making or buying your costume. I'd suggest a different hobby -- not just because of your funds (though it definitely salts the wound), but also because it's not going to solve your problem of obsessing less over politics. You need to reduce your screen time and fill it with a hobby that is both social and encourages you to work on yourself. Something like reading books / attending writing workshops / art.
>>
>>10648718
>Sadly once one has been on /pol/ they cannot leave
This is entirely fictitious and actively harmful to your personal well-being. Your main priority should be addressing this immediately. Finding a new hobby comes second.

>I've been thinking of doing some LARP stuff something /pol/ related such as a confederate soldier
You're feeding to it more, not weening off of it.

Are there any recommendations for EGL dress alteration? I heard Thistledown Emporium is pretty good, but I also heard she’s slow and I’m on a slight time crunch (3 and a half months from now specifically). The only other EGL seamstress I’m aware of is Strawberry Paper Doll, but idk anything else about her. Maybe I should just go to a local seamstress? Idk. Any advice is appreciated.

I need help!! I am a (almost) daily lolita, and I’m moving to my college campus in January. I admittedly overbuy clothing but recently got rid of a bunch so I wear lolita more. But how much lolita should I bring? Enough main pieces for 2 weeks? Outside of lolita is one set of work out clothes, one set of lounge clothes, and one set of pajamas enough? (I am also bringing lolita suitable seasonal clothes; one coat, one rain coat, rain boots, winter boots).

Also does anyone have tips for how to hand wash and hang dry laundry on campus? I will be having my own bathroom most likely
>>
>>10648844
If you can't find an EGL specific person, I've seen bridal seamstresses recommended for alterations. Individual seamstresses, don't go to a bridal shop chain! A friend had good luck with one, she did a great job on altering her dress (it was an OP, they used waist ties to get some room in the torso). But, any time you get someone who is not familiar with the fashion to do an alteration, you're still taking a risk on the results. Best of luck nonny
>>
>>10648855
Also to clarify this more, I know how to hand wash my own clothes, I’m more concerned about where they will hang to dry/ how long they will take to dry if I have to hang them in the bathroom. Would a drying rack sitting on a large plastic tray be a good idea?
>>
>>10648844
You most likely have at least one seamstress or someone good with sewing in your comm. Ask around in your local comm on if they know anyone who can do alterations or do alterations themselves.
>>
I thought I got the right length petti, but it's too long with both my JSKs! What is the best way to roll or tuck the petti so I can still fit into the dress, but not show off my underthings?

No such thing as a high quality replica, poorfag
>>
>>10648947
Roll the band as much as you can manage, but never ever trust that roll to hold on its own. I usually take a ribbon and tie around the rolled up petticoat to keep it in place at the right height. Don't be afraid to practice this so that you find the best way to roll, tie and tuck your petti so that it looks good in lenght at the bottom and bunch at the top. It's worth fiddling about.

Buy a big plastic tub to wash in. Fill it in the sink/tub, wash. Get a proper drying rack; I got a huge one for $20 on Amazon. My skirts/blouses/socks dry within a few hours, but I dry them in the livingroom. Dresses take a little longer but I do them at night and they're dry in the am. Even if it doesn't fit in your bathroom, put it on your side of the room (if you have a roommate).

As for what to bring, 1 set of everything else is not enough unless you plan to hand wash daily or wear gross clothes. College washing/drying machines cost money and sometimes they're full so you have to wait. I would bring enough lounge and pajamas for a week, and however many workout clothes you'll need for the week. For example, if you work out 3x a week, bring 3 sets. As for lolita clothes, 2 weeks sounds good so you can wear 1 week's while you're washing another. You could probably get away with less main pieces if you're cramped for room. Exchange them for other main pieces when you go back home to visit.
>>
>>10648855
>>10648970
If you're allowed an electric fan, that might be another way to ensure drying goes quickly, especially if your dorm is dark or stuffy. I use a fan to help dry my handwash items during the winter.
>>
>>10648954
if you want to buy a replica at least don't be too lazy to even find one. replicas are never good quality and everyone will make fun of you.

Found a cute dress where the flat measurement is 15" from armpit to armpit. So that means it's suited for below a 30" bust, right? It's unshirred and I doubt it stretches
Mine is 32"; can I make it work? I have soft tissue so would I likely do ok with a sports bra or will it look/feel bad?
>>
>>10649355
That's gonna be too small on you. A sports bra won't bring your measurement down 2 inches, and even if it would, you need about an inch of space left over to feel comfortable in an unshirred dress

Did angelic pretty ever made headbands that were a little ‘bendy’ and could stretch to accommodate bigger head sizes? If they did then what year should i look for?
None of their new headbands are comfortable on me. My IW and VM headbands are good and fit me and they are made of a slightly bendy material
>>
>>10649358
I’m 34 without a sports bra and 32 with. So I think it depends on the person + the sports bra
>>
>>10649471
ayrt, I'm also a 34 but sports bras don't work that well on me I guess. Even so, a dress that is 30" max will probably require a 29" bust at most for comfort, so maybe a binder would be the anon's best bet
>>
>>10649355
It's suited for someone with 27-28" bust (even less if they wear a padded bra). An inch of ease in a non-knit garment would normally be considered super close-fitting. Zero ease means you're straining the seams with every breath and good luck raising your arms. If your bust is 32" before a bra, you're better off looking for something that is at least 33-34" in the bust if it has no stretch.

>>10649355
Sorry for the late reply, but instead of comparing your body measurements to flat measurements measure a garment you’re comfortable in flat and compare the two. If you can find a garment made of a similar material to measure because that’s even more accurate. Flat measurements are a bit different than worn measurements and that’s the easiest way to figure out if you can wear it if flat measurements are all you have.

A dress I bought had damage that was pictured and described in the listing, but when I got it there was additional damage that wasn’t described or pictured at all, and that I also wouldn’t have paid the asking price if I had know about the other damage. All the damage is repairable and I don’t want to return the dress because I planned on fixing it, but I’m unhappy with the condition it came in, so what should I do? (Let the seller know, ask for a partial refund, etc?)
>>
>>10650558
Least you can do is let her know, she might reimburse you. Otherwise I’d actually put it in the review, only after you talked to her.
>>
>>10650558
Let the seller know and include photo evidence. Ask for a partial refund since you didn't get what you paid for but, like you've said, it's salvageable and not worth an outright return for. If the seller doesn't give you a refund and brushes you off, then I'd recommend leaving a review noting the dishonesty and/or lack of willingness to work with the buyer to resolve an issue.
Last resort would be to file a chargeback through PayPal or similar if that's how you paid since that service would technically refund you in full if the buyer does not receive what they expected, but it would be a rude awakening.
>>
>>10648711
1. Your obsession with race stems not from /pol/, but from incongruities in your very real life outside the internet bleeding into your subconscious.

2. Cosplay is a good way to give start to a conversation if you aren't a social butterfly. If your costume looks good, people will be drawn to talk to you. However, you don't have to cosplay to enjoy a con, and even just going to a convention will allow you to meet people, both male and female, who share the same interests. Cosplay can just be an icebreaker is all.

3. Cosplay is not a cheap hobby at all. It's extremely expensive especially starting out when you can expect a lot of trial and error. If you still insist on making ends meet, consider paying someone else to make costumes instead of risking spending more messing up materials yourself.

1) mostly just check your measurements for sizing, if in doubt get bigger than your size because it's MUCH easier (and more easily reversed) to have a garment taken in than it is to make it larger

>>10650981
Excellent, thank you. I don't know what being a freak about it entails for the average weebcon, but I'm doing it just because I think it'd be funny and I want to show off my legs
>>
>>10650985
just don't act like youre getting off on crossdressing or act creepy towards girls. if you treat it like a normal cosplay no one cares, people tend to find it funny
>>
>>10650960
Thanks!
>>
>>10650806
Cakejumper wears lolita and streams but idk if she does both at the same time
>>
>>10650990
Those shouldn't be a problem.
Speaking of being creepy, is it accepted practice to ask someone for a picture if their cosplay is particularly impressive or appealing to me?
>>
>>10651005
yes absolutely, most cosplayers love getting their pictures taken on the con floor. just make sure to not bother someone when theyre "off the clock," so to speak, like when they're eating, in the middle of conversation, preoccupied with something else. you'll very likely see them again later on when they're not preoccupied.

So just know to read the room and don't be wildly autistic
Sounds easy enough, thank you
>>
>>10651027
No problem, traveler.

(By the way, I don't know what your spotty things are, but they're cute. They remind me of that children's book with the yellow dude with all the spots.)

How long does it take Wunderwelt to send shipping quotes? I bought three dresses (the first from a month ago) and have yet to get a quote for any of them. I requested them to be packed together via Yamato shipping as well.

where can i find more classic-style mini dresses like this, besides hunting down really old VM?

it's my favorite dress but i just want more of it
>>
>>10651053
If anyone has any good torchon lace recs, taobao or otherwise, I'd love to know too
>>
>>10650876
Aliexpress bad, I know, but I have these socks with the black sock and white lace option with the ribbon running through the lace and they’re actually really good quality. The lace is identical to the BTSSB ones, actually

If you're looking for strictly lolita brands, MM has a few with less wide skirts including Emmanuel, but nothing as form fitting as the dress pictures is coming to mind for me.

In terms of other brands the one that comes off the top of my head is l'est rose. They sell very feminine styles often with floral motifs. Lower quality, but it hits the spot when you want something frillier for work.
>>
Is there a place that would be good for selling lolita that is not lace market or facebook. Is it worth it to try to sell on ebay maybe

Have a bunch of old stuff that I would like to get rid of. I would actually prefer to trade for gift cards or something rather than actual cash, but I dont think that is possible... I dont know. I dont even know what I am thinking so dont mind me
>>
>>10651116
If by old stuff, you mean pre 2006, please feel free to email me, I’ll probably be interested in buying
>>
>>10651116
did you get banned from LM, why the fuck would you want gift cards
>>
>>10651116
1. why would you want to sell lolita on a platform that actual lolitas don't use and pay fees on top of that?
2. you can just buy gift cards with the cash you get from your sales, nobody is going to entertain your weird scammy idea
>>
>>10651111
Thanks, i’ll keep an eye out for emanuelle!

Not looking for strictly lolita brands. I just want to do classical lolita, but with mini skirts. I’ll check out l’est rose! It looks like they have some things up my alley. I think liz lisa might have some things but they never have anything as structured as old VM
>>
>>10651116
You sound like a suspicious bitch and I kinda love it. Anyway there's depop you freak. You can get away with some pretty whack prices on depop cause you got the DDLG types who don't know what lacemarket is and more money than sense. If you're trying to dodge the taxman or something, if you just hold the money in your Paypal and don't transfer it to your bank you should be fine.
>>
>>10651141
Oh yeah, depop. Thanks, maybe I will look into it.

>>10651129
Nah, I just dont like LM, and there are some people there I dont want to sell to.
>>
>>10651176
You as a seller have the option to not sell to anyone you don't want to deal with, it's not against the rules. Literally just put it in your TOS
>>
>>10651116

>>
>>10651085
I ordered a few yards of this lace for socks and ended up really liking it

What others have said, and I wouldn't recommend eBay. I've tried it with other outlets and it's definitely not meant for serious lolita.
>>
how much do i sell a new never tried on brand op for? i don't believe it came with tags (shopping service) so i can't market it as NWT. can i sell for it's original price? do i mark it down? the condition is perfect otherwise. i checked lacemarket and i'm only seeing used versions of it that go for almost full price somehow
>>
>>10651308
put it on auction at a small mark down and set buy it now for a bit more that the original price to cover your shipping
>>
Should I spend 1500 impulsively on some lolita?

I'm looking for Emily by Novala Takemoto. I can read Japanese okay (N3 level). So far, no luck finding either Japanese or English copy. Any suggestions?
>>
>>10651085
jesus christ please just buy vintage lace lmao it's not that hard, it's not expensive and wouldn't look so cheap and you'd get a much more unique + convincing end product

>>10651191
how did you attach the lace to socks i want to do this to some of mine but can't think of a way to do it without making the sock weird did you attach the lace to elastic and then attach that to the sock or something? lmao maybe i'm being stupid
>>
>>10651390
I just gathered a length of lace separately and sewed it onto the top of the sock while stretching the elastic, hope this makes sense

I don't really know where to ask this but does anybody know an english/non japanese only forum or discord type place for talking about takarazuka revue ? There is a forum for the wikia but it seem dead I remember seeing threads a long time ago on cgl.

Are there ANY Taobao shops that are okay in quality and design? (and lean more gothic)
I want to get a couple cheaper main pieces for meets that might be messier like baking, crafting, meets that involve animals, etc. because I’m somewhat a poorfag and dote on my burando but everything I’ve seen from Taobao looks so cheap in person
>>
>>10651497
that one ista mori dress looks pretty good from the pictures i've seen, but i don't know how much it costs.
Why not get secondhand BPN or something, it's not too expensive

How is the fit of VW leather RHS? I have the Melissa ones in a 40 and they fit ok, just wondering if the originals run small or big or if they're true to size? I don't have particularly wide feet or anything, just a little long. Would like to get a pair but I'll have to order them and I don't want to get the wrong size.
>>
>>10651405
it does, thank you!

her face made me think she was one of those latex doll suits that men with fetishes wear for a second lel
>>
>>10651497
Can't recommend any particular shops but looking at the materials has helped me get decent quality pieces before, generally I like to avoid anything that's (mostly) poly. Natural materials are easier to clean too which is especially useful if you're wearing your pieces to one of those "messy meets".

Also if it's only like $35 new it's almost guarantee to be trash and look exactly as cheap as it was, good taobao can be expensive sometimes.
>>
Looking at a dress for sale that's 50% linen and 50% poly. I've never owned something of this blend before, can anyone offer some impressions based off of the material alone? I usually try to avoid poly but I'm wondering if the linen will likely keep it from being too flimsy, or if it will probably still feel cheap.
>>
Any info on why Leur Getter closed? :(

Any recommended places for buying colored contact lenses? For cosplay, not lolita.

Does Tenshi/Mint Kismet do SS for Atelier Boz?

Do you wear a cap-sleeved OP without a blouse? I've always worn them with one, but is not wearing a blouse a bad move?

Nothing official but it's believed to be related to one of their shop staff behaving inappropriately. It was brought up in more detail on Lolita Updates a while back.

I'm planning on going to at least one con in the next couple of months - been trying to think of characters with long blonde hair, but I only know of a couple that have a parting rather than bangs or a fringe.
Any ideas? I'm not too hung up on details, I can crossdress for a laugh.
>>
Any recs for cheap binders? I'm not looking for anything perfect, just something to flatten out a bit because a new OP i got is painfully tight around the bust.

Has anyone else has problems with La Poste and shipping from AP Paris to the United States recently?

>package 1 shipped on the 20th
>package 2 shipped on the 21st
>package 2 gets delivered to me in the US on the 28th
>package 1 has not left France
>has two delivery attempts, in France
>now says it's will be made available at the post office (29th), in France

I'm contacting AP Paris again because I'm beyond confused. They already called La Poste before and confirmed it's an international package and should be waiting for a plane to the US. But the tracking highly suggests otherwise.
