>>10618488>Pulling stuff off my pinterest nowAre you willing to share your old school board? I'd love to see it
>>10618626Sorry, I privated my Pinterest because a lot of people don't like their photos being shared to another platform (although I think old street snaps are fair game) and I mostly just use it for personal inspiration. Also, I divide my board by color rather than style so there's a lot of non-oldschool stuff in there too.
Anyone happen to have some snaps of old school coords in lavender/purple? I know it's not a very common color but I'd love to see some if they exist

The sleeves are similar to this, only all organdy. It came with an underdress of cotton with the same lace on the dress along the bottom of it. I always wonder what the date of the dress might be, or anything about it. Only time I have seen it in a picture/on another lolita is on cryptcasper. I have had this dress for many many years and still know nothing about it.

>>10621930Taobao is shit just buy actual old school. It's cheaper and much higher quality anyway.
>>10622100I agree with this anon
>>10622100This, honestly I think if you want to go old school you should buy real old school or make the pieces yourself
Has anyone else seen the instagram account that’s posting old school inspo, old school bible? They popped up pretty recently, but they really seem like someone who’s just hopped on the old school trend. I was reading through their posts and they hadn’t heard of cornet? And you claim to be an old school lolita...
>>10623066Everyone post-2013 hopped on the old school trend.
>>10623068the trend started in 2016 tho
>>10623066Cornet wasn't even that popular 15 years ago. They had a reputation of (relatively) cheap sturdy dresses that were nicely constructed and easy to wash, something you'd be okay to wear to a concert in a club without worrying too much about destroying it.
>>10623073God, thank you for posting this. I was so fucking confused when I saw this sudden surge in love for this brand and the extreme levels of overpricing as of late that I was genuinely starting to wonder if I had remembered its overall "eh it's fine"-ness wrong.
>>10623368I feel like it's on the same level as brands like chocochip
>>10623072Nah, it already began in 2013 with anons making more threads about it, starting to not see it as ita anymore and Ophilia beginning to get a good chunk of asspats on Cof, paving the way of attention and likes for the other flakes.
>>10623368Ayrt here. I understand Cornet is rare these days cause they didn't make too many pieces to begin with. I also understand why some people might be willing to pay more for it because of rarity and sentimental reasons. What I don't understand is why it's suddenly so coveted. Don't get me wrong, Cornet is very nicely made, but so is AP or Baby or Moitie from 00s. And a lot of older dresses from major brands tend to have similar design and cuts, so I doubt many people like Cornet specifically because of their design choices. I don't get it. It wasn't even that popular in Japan either.
>>10623774Cornet is newbie hype. I kind of took some interest in old school, recently but much of this is really just sweet lolita before OTT redefined what sweet lolita was and Cornet was never popular. So I still feel mixed about it.
>>10623774I don’t get it either. I was a cornet whore before it started going for $$$ on lacemarket. but that was because it’s a dead brand, very casual for lolita and i also wanted to ‘save’ it. Maybe i helped contribute to rising prices since people saw that it’s being bought lolI’m in the minority that i love their design choices. I like simpler things but with a little bit of lace
Wonder what some of my cornet would sell for. One of my favorite pieces is a velvet heart apron skirt. So cute and made so well imo. The buttons are actually shell (abalone maybe idk) and it is honestly one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I bet newbies would be all over it, but I am not sure I could ever part with it.
Dumbass question, what years are considered old school? Or is it just a look?
>>10623797Yes, I love their designs too, especially their (over)use of broderie anglaise/eyelet lace. It’s my favorite type of lace, don’t see it enough
>>10623073AYRT here. I didn’t mean that they were the best/most popular brand back then, but more the fact that you’d have only have to read through a few old GLBs to see the brand, so never having heard of them and yet calling yourself an old-school lolita seems a little strange
>>1062384090’s to early 2000’s, most often i see people saying the cutoff is 2005~2008, at a stretch 2010
>>10623840it's the aesthetic of early 2000s lolita
>>10623840Pre-2006 but mostly based on looks from GLB, rather than what western lolitas actually wore.
>>10623847Most of the time (if not all of the time, but I’d have to check that) their items were featured in GLBs under the name Shotgun Wedding. Which is why someone who reads old GLBs is actually more likely to have never heard of Cornet.
>>10624007i remember them actually. there is a sewing pattern in one of them for their brand i believe. a white OP possibly?
>>10624007This answers one of my questions actually. I have seen cornet items listed with ‘shotgun wedding’ tag and never understood it. Sounds like it was an old name before they went to cornet? I’ll have to actually get my hands on glb someday, been lazy about tracking it down.Cornet also had a ‘ glück wünschen garaus’ tag once. i still don’t understand that one.
>>10623797>i liked it before it was cool
>>10624010Do you maybe know which glb it was?
>>10624141Am i not allowed to anonette? It kinda felt like a secret club buuut at least it’s getting more love lol
>>10623797This is how I feel too anon, at least it still goes pretty cheap on the Japanese market.
>>10624016Shotgun Wedding was their brand name. Cornet was the company name. I remember their website had "Shotgun Wedding by Cornet" in the title.>>10624010AYRT. I couldn't find it, but my GLB collection is incomplete so I would appreciate it if you could point me to where you saw the pattern.>>10624016Garaus was their brand name around the 90s.
>>10621174THE FLIP PHONE <3 MY HEART <3
>>10623784>>10623774I’ve had some cornet and while the quality was nice it was ridiculously short. I’m not tall, maybe 160 cm. Oldschool Baby is slightly nicer and a better length for me
>>10623774I'm glad I got a good amount of cornet a couple years ago before the surge. Their pieces are fairly popular among Chinese lolitas, actually, which is a big part of it. It's also just a lot cheaper and easier to get their velveteen pieces than brand velveteen ones.
>>10624469I have a cornet dress coming in the post, should arrive tomorrow. However, I am also 172cm. Pray for me
>>10624469The fact that it's so short is what makes me love Cornet. I absolutely hate when a dress hits below the knee, makes me look dumpy, so Cornet is perfect.
How do you gulls keep your velveteen pieces from attracting lint and dog hair? Or do you just constantly lint roll them?
>>10624996I do not recommend lint rolling older velveteen pieces too often. If you do, be sure to not press to hard. A gentle clothes brush is preferable.
>>10624949 I'm 177cm and my cornet is definitely very short on me but I like it because I'm a thotlita. Embrace the thigh, nonny
>>10624996Increase the humidity in your house.
>>10624996Just don't live in a dirty house lol
>>10624996store them in garment bags
>>10625401the shape of her lip color is not working for her
>2016>buy old school skirt from WW for like $30>too short on me, ignore it for years>2021>hm maybe i should sell it>literally see it sold on lacemarket twice for about $150
>>10625426Idk it seems fine? Her coords are pretty cute and I don't get any cringe trying too hard to be youthful and kawaii vibes from her which I tend to get from a lot of lolitas with mature faces.
>>10625490Yeah I agree, I don't see any problem in it
>>10625490yeah i quite like the coord, but something about the very round shaped bottom lip and less pigmented top lip just looks very odd to me
>>10625502>less pigmented top lipher top lip looks like it's full on red and she's doing a gradient with the bottom one anon. her top lip is just hella thin cause some people have thin lips.
>>10625401this feels very neo old school
>>10625655It technically kind of is. And that's fine. It's cute. Glad BABY is at least still releasing stuff suitable for old school style.
Is this a good price,? https://item.fril.jp/1ecfa4589dbedb8af46d0402acb32b57

>>10625677maybe, if you’re 4’11
>>10625677 very pretty, I'd say it's just an average price, not super overpriced but not super cheap either

I handwashed my old JM velvet jsk that says dry cleaning only and it went good
>>10626118Velvet can be ruined forever by washing. I actually did this to my vintage velvet dress (non lolita)

Does anyone have old school pictures of hime lolita?
>>10626533omg thank you nonnie! I love these
>>10626567hime didn't exist until 2010 or so
I love scrolling through old snaps and picking out which items I own, seeing how the girls styled them. I feel connected in some way. Neo old school brands will never have this feeling.
>>10626824I love to do the same! I also like to imagine that I own exactly the dressses in those pics wear
Is MAM okay for the price? Was thinking of getting picrel for wardrobe filler but the lace looks iffy
>>10627243Wtf do you mean, that lace is beautiful.
I love this wallpaper
>>10627243i have this blouse and it's wonderful! it's not the most intricate torsion lace i've seen but it doesn't look out of place in my wardrobe by any means.
>>10627243This is lovely, do you have the CDjapan link by chance?
>>10627246>>10627265I found different pics of it and the lace looks way better. I guess the stock image was throwing me off. Thanks.>>10627279https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOAPP-41104
>>10627282ntayrt but in my experience their stock images can be a little lacking and look cheap. one thing to remember is that machine made laces often have similar or even the same pattern but are different materials, so something that appears to be scratchy and cheap isn't always.
>>10627282Unrelated to this but the stock images are wrong for some of the Maxicimam products on cdjapan in my experience so I recommend checking that the product number matches those on Maxicimam's website when purchasing.
>>10624007>Which is why someone who reads old GLBs is actually more likely to have never heard of Cornet.Lmao bullshit.
>>10626122>>10626118Very gentle handwashing will be fine.
>>10627290A lot of torchon lace also may look super machined and perfect at first but after a wash the pattern and the lace itself softens a lot.
>>10627332Ayrt. If there's in fact a mention of Cornet (not Shotgun Wedding) in GLBs, I'd be glad if you pointed it out to me.
are there any surviving old school brands other than Baby?
>>10627472Yeah, pretty much all of the major brands
>>10627472Most brands that were alive back then are still here now. Do you mean brands that frequently do rereleases of old pieces?
>>10627482I'm guessing that's what they meant. In that case, I'd say Maxicimam still has some oldschool-looking pieces.
>>10627353I don't own my issues anymore, but they started changing the naned brand around 2004-2005. Nevermind that reading glbs is not some super secret knowledge that prevents you from knowing cornet. Literally everyone did that when lj was still the main community.
>>10627494Basically every establised Japanese lolita brand at one point was old school/made or still makes old school style pieces. BABY's are the closest to their original stuff and MAM mostly only sells pieces that work for old school (at least the ones that look good are the solids and whatnot, their prints are lackluster) but it's pretty tough to tell the difference between the big 3 brands and most older ones if you look at their older pieces. Old school used to just be what almost all lolita looked like regardless of brand.
>>10627623most of MAM looks cheap af though.
>>10628975We literally just had a discussion about MAM's quality like 15 posts above yours
>>10629036Shhh anon don't remind the newfags that they actually need to read the thread, it makes them angry
>>10618449This has ALWAYS been a thing in the fashion. I don't understand the issue.

>>10626775There are pictures in this thread that pre date that with the hairstyle. Obviously you weren’t around then but it is in the bibles and everything. The hair style came before the style.Do your research before you try to preach.
>>10626981why do some japanese lolitas wear shoes that dont fit
>>10629948Nothing is more princess than shoes that don't fit.Realistically, they are models. They are being paid to wear things, regardless of fit. They probably only had one size of the shoe they needed to model.

Bought an older (somewhat rare?) recently for nearly £400 and it came with some (imo) pretty serious undisclosed damage, seller has offered to do a partial refund how much is fair to ask back?
>>10630055Probably worth saying the piece was originally only sold for £165 and with inflation that’d be £245, I’d have been fine what I did if it was in good condition (seller said there was some yellowing due to age and loose buttons) but,,There’s no major noticeable damage but there’s some rusty looking staining that dry cleaning didn’t get out and one of the button holes was severely damaged (frayed) which I’ve managed to get patched up but at the end of the day it’s still damaged.Thought? It’s genuinely been stressing me out enough that’s it’s effecting my mood, and my sleeping a couple of nights, sad, I know, any advice would be appreciated
Does anyone happen to know anything about or have any other pictures of this old Moitie OP? I can't find anything about it on Lolibrary.
>>10630055so is it pretty serious damage or no major noticeable damage? i think you need to solidify your own stance on what you consider acceptable/unacceptable in order to evaluate how much it's worth to you. it's possible that the seller will ask you to return it for a full refund if you can't come to an agreement, so figure out what that breakpoint is for you personally.
