It's happening, get in hereWho are you gonna cosplay? Panel ideas?
>>10616603I'm cosplaying a black incel that only wants a white/asian waifu
>>10616603I really want to be "100% confirmed going" but they have me a lil shook with it about to be June and still no confirmed guests. Esp with the hotel booking battle royal happening start of next month too. I'd imagine COVID is screwing them w/ getting guests, but imo AWA has always been a "Panel/Guest Con" during the day and a "Party Con" at night so it'd def wouldn't feel right w/ little to no guests.
>>10618159did you pre-reg before the last cancellation?
I'm worried there will be no fashion guests.
>>10618159>>10618705There will be guests. Sadly extreme low chance of Japanese voice actors due to the 10 day wait return to japan and they can't fit that into their schedule.
>>10618714Other classes of guests are still available. So Bands, fashion, guests that don't have schedules that they need to be back at work as soon as they get back to japan or can't remote work.
>COVID era secret panelBruh
>>10618714>Sadly extreme low chance of Japanese voice actorsThat's sad to think about the lack of Japanest artist at the con. Getting to see TeddyLoid feat. Daoko at AWA was still one of the best concerts I had seen in years.
>>10622877Song artists are not an issue. Voice actors are.
>>10616603I'm cosplaying Germany from Hetalia (WWI variant) keep an eye out for me. I'll be blasted off schnapps smuggled in, in my canteen.
>>10617031Just join the military if you want that.
>>10622924Song Artists still have tight schedules, int he scenario where Japanese guests are even allowed to travel internationally you can bet they wikl be doing a ton of work in japan after the 1+ year of cancelled events. Its the fashion brands that wouldn't have a rush to get back.
>>10616603Are they going to require masks?
Anyone here going to dragoncon? I'm no longer going and I have 2 passes I need to sell (at early bird price!)I thought I'd post here since awa locals go to d*con; I already posted this on the d*con thread but it's been inactive for a few days now
Just waiting to see if i got into artist alley or not. If I don't, I might still go for a day or two, idk.
>>10617031This anon >>10623067 beat me to it, so just replying to emphasize his correct answer.
Anyone know if reservation block 3 of the main hotel will allow you to book Thurs - Sun? or was that only a block 2 thing?
>>10625202Germany is heaven for black men who want white women and Japan and the Philippines are where it's at if you want to fulfill your Asian waifu fetish.t. overseas government contractor
>>10630078>2, 3, and 4 night stays are available
>>10630078Thurs->sun is available however the hotel blocks haven't opened up yet, so I just said fuck it and staying across the highway. I mean I'd really like to be in the con hotel and all but realistically not going to play a guessing game and I also saving some serious cash vs the 185/night the hotel is quoting out. Got something for like 100/night 2 beds so I can probably sell one off to a friend for a more realistic price. Worst case I have to uber due to rain or something, but I don't see that being more than 5-10 dollars to go a mile or so.Also, is there a discord for this con? I recall one being around at one point and time but don't recall if I left or it was nuked or what due to covid stuff. Not talking about the con official discord, that one was a dumpster fire of like the stupidest facebook posts in one pot.
Still no fashion guests announced…
>>10632491If other cons are any kind of metric, most schedules and main announcements only seemed to happen within 30-60 days. This con is still like what 4 months and some change away?
>>10632491You're expecting AWA to have any guests from Japan in 2021?
>>10632461>however the hotel blocks haven't opened up yetThey have, check the website
Bruh that Block 3 Main Hotel reservation sold out within literal seconds of going upAlso I know the booking website says the Embassy Suites Atlanta Galleria is closer than Sheraton Suites Galleria Atlanta. But I'm fairly confident its the other way around tho?
>>10633355Embassy Suites is the one that is directly a part of the convention. You know the rooms above the main atrium. The Sheraton is the one across the connected bridge thing
>>10633395Isn't the only hotel that is part of the convention center the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel? Google Maps shows the Embassy a bit away
>>10633544oh fuck you're right i mixed shit up. That doesn't make sense then.
>>10633544It is but we are talking a .5 mile walk to another hotel in a skybridge that's pretty nice. You can generally save about 50-60 dollars a night by just booking a little offsite. I know probably not /cgl/'s ideal location but there are decent and down right cheap hotels up by the Wellstar hospital. Even if I have to uber solo back and forth daily, most I am looking at is probably 20 bucks a day on top of the 55 I spent for a hotel. Though assuming the weather isn't bonechilling like it was in 2019, might just walk stop for food at the stadium places and go to the con after. Just use uber to get back to my room.I get staying onsite has it's perks but hard to justify these prices. Not sure if I just had a 1 off bad time at the hotel, but the whole "can just go back to the room any time for changing/drinks/etc" never was worth it.
>>10632461Here is a clue. Won't don't you tell the fairy fag posting to shut the fuck up with his fairy posting or block him. All the other discords were shut down.
I'm going as Douglas MacArthur
>>10643719Try going as Ulysses S Grant Instead. You'll get a much more interesting reception
AWA usually gets a few good guests to see but it otherwise worthless to travel to without them, maybe next year.
>>10646559Is this is a new meme or something on /cgl/ everyone keeps posting it.Who the fuck cares about guests, like beyond it being a nice bonus...That aside AWA hotels are sold the fuck out so yeah..
>>10646559>>10647110It's hilarious because AWA already has JP guests.
>>10647110I couldn't care less about voice actors, but other types of guests are great and can have some very enjoyable panels.
>>10646530Nah, show up as a member of the USCT (if black) or William T Sherman.
>>10623707Have they announced when the selections for AA will be posted?
>>10647409Not that I know of. Should be any day now
https://awa-con.com/awa-2021-mask-policy-and-safety-requirements/new regulations just droppedmasks required as well as vaccines
>>10648747I'm excited for this, but one negative I see as an artist is its going to be even harder to hear customers/fans. Already hard to hear people at cons, so many soft spoken people. At least I won't have to worry as much about people getting their grubby hands all over my merch.
>>10648747Wow full masks policy in October. Bars have been completely open in Atlanta for over a year now and people have been packing them in shoulder to shoulder without masks. AWA has very conscientious showrunnersAnd here Draongcon is trying as much as they can to have a minimal mask policy. So far their messaging has been if you aren't vaccinated then wear a mask.
>>10648840>Bars have been completely open in Atlanta for over a year now and people have been packing them in shoulder to shoulder without masks.yea, and you can see how well thats going
>>10648865Wow people have lost complete perception of risk haven't they. No one posting things like this better be doing drugs or even mildly overweight.Yes the 7 day average of Georgia covid deaths has increased from 6-7 to... 10
>>10648871Anyone with a bias will present the numbers in a format suitable to them. Its no different than taxes.
>>10648871great try deflecting, but that doesn't work with me. GA opening up crowded bars has lead to an increase in covid cases and deaths. That is why the mask policy is coming back. AWA recognizes the risk and taking action.
>>10649010GA has had crowded bars for over a year now. I know because I never stopped going
>>10649073and GA has above average cases and deaths per capita
>>10649108thats the point of >>10648865>>10648909>>10648871Expressed as a percentage increase, the reaction:>OMFG ITS OUT OF CONTROLExpressed as the actual count of cases>they're up 3? in a week? i bet people dont even bother to look if co-morbidity is a factor.Whatever, do what you want. People trying to act like if you wear a mask, then you're encountering people who hassle you for wearing one more frequently than you encounter a covid victim. hogwash. People can't be bothered to care if you wanna wear one.
>>10649273>the reaction:wtf do you mean ""the"" reaction? WHOSE reaction? Is it you? You see a big number and just get scared and see small number and not worry? Is that how you live life?
>>10648840>>10648747Why can't they do this.. Metrocon is asking for proof and will give you some identifier so you can go maskless if you're vaccinated. Seems silly of AWA to be so antivax and stuck on a mandated mask policy for an event they control.
>>10649313You gotta realize that AWA takes place in multiple locations, the Hotel exists the 'mall' exists, and then the convention center is shared in some weird manner. From a management standpoint it was probably the path of least resistance to get all property and building owners on board with giving it a green light. I can't really say I am surprised by this as I half way expected it coming, I doubt any con that isn't out in the corn fields or the like will go full mask free. At least with the current statement it seems that no mask outside is fine for photoshoots, if they take that away I might reconsider going to this.
>>10649336Hotels don't enforce masks and you think a dying convention center and hotels are the ones forcing AWA's hand here?
>>10649337AWA is in a hotel with a mall bridging it to the convention center, so it's a bit more complex compared to a stand alone center. I was saying with all parties involved it was probably in the best interest of con management to simply make a statement like they did where it's better to be safe than sorry. If nothing else it's to cover all parties involved asses here, I half way expected something like this anyways. I don't get why vaccinated people need a mask like their statement says, but it's not the end of the world to me anyways.
>>10649338Probably better prioritizing a halloween party over this. Masks have a chilling effect on interactions.
>>10649339Go for it then, I'm still counting on enough things to do around the event and room parties to go on that will make it worthwhile. Masks will for sure be a downer on the situation but I'm not going to lose my shit over it, ideally I'll just be outside more often than I have been at prior AWA's. If they shut down any meetups in the park or around the con center that's where I'd draw the line to cancelling.
>>10649279thats the point. Most people do actually handle information that way, especially when it suits a bias they already have. They don't bother to look deeper to infer a more complete picture. I'm not sure what you're getting at, unless you're just unhappy about that fact.>>10649339AWA is halloween weekend right? And they blew through their hotel block? i guess it depends on what you expect the degree (hah) of chilling the masks will have. Seems like AWA is positioned to still draw lots of people.
>>10649440>Most people do actually handle information that wayok, so what? Whats the point? Just felt like mentioning it for no reason?
>>10649337The freak weebs that will shit on each other's chest but act like they are so clean, obvioualy.

This sticker just feels like good boy points
>>10649598Blatant virtue signaling. I do not know why people would attend such a event where you still have to wear a mask!
>>10649598>This sticker just feels like good boy pointswell, yeah. its not like they can realistically compel anyone to produce such things like they probably want to, but they clearly want to incentivise people to have and show they've been vaxed.
who are these acme niggasq
>that uptickUh oh
Artist alley acceptance emails hasn't been sent out yet, so i'm worried :(I hope they just require vaccines rather than cancel the con.
>>10654316>I hope they just require vaccinesThey literally legally cannot. And the sooner con organizers realize corona chan is an endemic here to stay, the faster things can all go back to normal.Maskless, vaxless cons have been happening across America all summer. Still no outbreaks tied to a con. Facts don’t care about your feelings.
>>10654393>They literally legally cannot.source?>Maskless, vaxless cons have been happening across America all summer. Still no outbreaks tied to a con. Facts don’t care about your feelings.oh, your just lying about stuff.
>>10654393Sorry your president lost.
>>10654393AWA is a private establishment it can ban anyone it wants so long as it isn't against specific race or gender; this would easily fall under public safety.

Take your meds schizos.
>>10654474Just because they "can" doesn't mean they want to manage it or deal with all the other bullshit that follows. I get it, I think anyone vaxxed should be exempt seems like a no brainer. Going off other cons I've seen looks like no one actually enforces it past badge pickup, AWA could suprise but I'm going to wait and see what Otakon looks like. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 weeks before they "revise" the rules and slip it in, why bother with 3 months of people screeching.
>>10654474Metrocon did something quite similar for their con but after badge pickup you couldn't be assed by anyone for mask bs.I would be legitimately shocked if they even enforce it past "uhh we told people to totally wear masks, not our fault some people took them off!"
>>10654474any crowded indoor event will lead to more covid cases. If the governor doesn't allow vaccine passports, then he is the person to blame if awa gets canceled.
>>10654316I'm so nervous I won't get in. It's my first con I've really built up my portfolio for. I sell patches and plushies and I'm worried its too different than the usual artist alley stuff.
>>10654707They usually like having a variety of artists, so having unique things usually helps more than it hurts
>>10654700I don't see AWA being shitcanned but I don't see the mask requirement dropping for the con. So long as they leave the outdoors a free for all, that's fine with me
>>10654719outside is probably more dangerous for your health with how many people smoke right outside the doors. ugh.
>>10617031The other two replies are correct. To end up in Korea join the Marines or Army. For Japan join Marines or Air Force. For Germany join Army or Airforce. If you aren’t an Ameriburger then disregard this advice.

>>10662922>At this point everyone who wanted the jab got it.nearly a million people per day are still getting the vaccine.>Why should I worry about people who don't want to be safe from the virus?Because they can still infect other people, including vaccinated people.
