since the OP says i might get help if i sketch a room layout...

gulls, i am hopeless when it comes to decorating rooms. this is a second bedroom that i'm using as my lolita/makeup/sewing room. i'd also like to somehow fit a desktop in there but that's probably pushing it.

needs are:
Makeup vanity
Chest of drawers for socks and blouses
Cube storage or a bookshelf
A surface for sewing
A full length mirror
A corner or blank spot of wall to decorate for photos
...and idk what else, basically decorative stuff
if a computer desk can somehow fit in here too that'd be great but i can tell it might be cramped already

i'm having the hardest time with placement, mostly. i don't just want to shove everything against the walls animal crossing style. so if anybody has time to spoonfeed me ideas for furniture (i'm a sweet lolita) and placement that would be fucking amazing because this is so not my forte.

I don’t see them as adult baby rooms per-say, but I don’t like how cluttered they are. I personally like kawaii/pastel rooms that are more organized and not full of toys and plushies everywhere.

I want to buy a futon and tatami to sleep on. I think i found a good shop in my city for the futon but they don't sell tatami and what i see on Amazon looks fake and/or overpriced? Pic related is the only thing I found in my country and costs 280 euro (I need 2 for my size mattress)
>>
>>10606652
It's okay anon, I've bought room decoration from actual baby shops. I simply don't let boring judgemental people in my bedroom.
>>
>>10606926
these are fake, and i only know where to get them in asia. i will tell you though futons are not easy to use. you really have to pick them up every day or they will mold, and sunbathing them is very important and make sure yo uget a cover. they are also hard on your back for a long while so be ready for that.

There are ways of using kawaii decor without seeming babyish. I would avoid hanging things from the ceiling on small threads (reminiscent of a baby mobile) as well as children sized furniture and baby motifs like safety pins, building blocks, etc. Those are the biggest things that make me think it’s a children’s or fetishists room. I’d also recommend having a base neutral tone too so that not everything is pastel or brightly colored.
>>
>>10607129
>not everything is pastel or brightly colored

have you never met a sweet lolita? why even decorate if you give yourself rules about colors or whatever beyond that things need to match and coordinate? it's about self-expression and what someone wants, and if they want all pastels they want all pastels. pastels can actually be used in a really mature way but even if not, seems like a waste to spend money on your own space just to avoid meeting one anon's definition of what must be for ageplayers.
>>
>>10607129
Who cares, it’s not like you’ll see it or live in it. If you want her room to suit your tastes then you pay for it.
>>
>>10607129
Nayrt but I’m not an ageplayer and lolita does nothing for me sexually. I’m just a daily lolita and I don’t give a fuck if some rando thinks my pastel pink and blue room decor is sexual. That’s a you problem.
>>
>>10606337
This is a huge room! The biggest thing I see taking up that space is that for your list of needs you have 3 different tables- vanity, sewing surface, and possible computer desk. To minimize that, look into a foldaway table that you put up on the wall so you can take it down for sewing and put back up. That along with a spool shelf and shelves with clear containers on the wall opposite your closet (Look up DreamBox or ultimate sewing box for examples) will solve those needs. You should still have room on that wall for a computer desk as well.
Depending on how the window is shaped, I think you could put cube storage on the wall under the window and have a window seat on top.
I would put the full length mirror on the wall next to the window beside the closet, so you could use a full 3’ wide mirror if you wanted and have space to decorate around it. The next bit is hard to explain but I’ll do my best. I would make a fake wall by putting a room divider at a right angle to the wall with the mirror on it. Put some hooks or a shoe rack on the wall space between the bathroom and closet and you have a luxe changing area.
On the other side of the partition or room divider I would put the vanity, and a cute rug with a small plush chair so you have the rug for beside the window seat and the vanity, without blocking the cube storage.
Then you have all the space on the wall opposite the window to decorate however you like! Sorry for the long post, I just wish I had a room this large to work with!

I bought a futon from Amazon a few years ago and I'm still using it. It was the EMOOR brand on amazon.ca. It was quite pricey and probably more expensive than buying a futon in Asia, but buying a new bed would have cost the same or more. It's actually very comfy as long as you like sleeping on harder beds anyway. If you have a small room like I did, then folding it up every day is impossible to forget. I don't sunbathe it that often, and it's been fine, so that probably depends on your local climate. I don't have a tatami and the futon is still pretty comfy, so you're fine not having it unless you want one for decoration purposes I guess.
>>
>>10607261
the purpose of the tatami is to help with airflow so it's definitely recommended.
>>
I have to rearrange my room as I'm terribly tired of staring at a front door from the bed. 1-room apartment problems. Good room thread this time around, lots of doable stuff.
>>
>>10607039
I am laughing though because that's a dollhouse. It is cute though.
>>
>>10607027
Check your local Wal*Mart because sometimes they have pastels in the kid's section. I just picked up a cute pastel set of pink plates although, sadly, they did not have matching forks. They also had pastel aqua & green. Otherwise, you likely will need to look online.

If you're willing to pay $149, places like overstock.com will have them. Anthropologie is also a good choice, and it would appear that the brand 'Vancasso' purchasable at Home Depot regularly puts out stoneware pastel plates.

Check Anthropologie and Home Depot for nicer options.

>dollhouse

I’m crying, I was just skimming and pinned it on impulse lmao
>>
>>10606991
why not get a nice air mattress if weight is the issue? It will cost less and be easier to move around, especially if you move house.
>>
>>10607184
aw, anon! thanks for putting so much thought into it, that's exactly the kind of advice i needed. i really like your idea of a room divider to make a faux dressing room, and putting storage against the window!

you flipped my perspective on the space. and i don't know if you did it on purpose, but having the photo wall across from the window for natural light is huge brained. thanks again!!
>>
>>10607421
I don't know if there are airmatresses that are supposed to be used for a long time every night. But we ones slept on one of those more expensive ones that are tall and it was okey for few months but then it just broke from inside and ended up looking like a balloon.
>>
>>10607261
So it's fine to have it directly on the floor as long as you clean and take care of it well? The one I'm eyeing is 300-600 euro depending on the thickness and size which i haven't decided yet.
>>
>>10606139
You know those rooms probably belong to a Japanese girl, because they don’t worry about strangers thinking their room is “ageplay”. In the eyes of many, any kind of stuffed animal or pink fun bedroom is ageplay, so who cares?
>>
>>10607524
nta but again, the tatami are for helping with airflow. do you live in a humid area? if so the mattress will be more likely to mold. you can also put the futon on a platform bed and flip it every once in a while. be sure to buy a cover for it. i have only used a futon in a tatami room so that's my experience.
>>
>>10607027
Target has some
https://www.target.com/p/12pc-stoneware-avesta-dinnerware-set-pink-project-62-8482/-/A-79652944
>>
>>10607524
Yes, that's what I've been doing, and it's been a few years with no issue. But the anons here pointed out that it would depend on the climate, I guess that how well your house is insulated would matter too. I don't live in a humid area, so that probably makes it easier.
>>
>>10605250
these photos of standing closets are always entirely unrealistic and look like a staging for container store or ikea. i want to see all their shit shoved into there like it's actually a real room being lived in
>>
>>10607914
anon, that's what the chest next to it is for, those are basically used like a mannequin to display favorite things.
>>
>>10604277
I know classic = grandma couch is a meme but I swear I actually own a dress in a fabric identical to that couch.
>>
>>10607920
yes let us keep all our clothing folded like we live in nothing but band tees and jeans. no thanks
>>
>>10607587
The tatami are more difficult to take care of than the futon itself
>>
>>10607914
>>10607920
I use it for things I've only worn 1 time and don't have to be washed yet. The rest of my wardrobe is in a different room.
>>
>>10607524
It really depends on what your house is like. Humidity is your enemy and you definitely have to clean the floor each day before you put it down. If your room feels damp at all, it's probably NOT a good idea to have a futon directly on the floor.
