how are UK comms? I'm pretty much a lonelita and was wondering if I should start actually searching and joining my local comm, though I'd imagine that they're quite far away from where I live
Is pic related's blouse okay for classic lolita, or is it too gothic?
>>10551859Would be nice if we could actually see the blouse
Could someone share there Japanese search terms for brands and other J Fashion?
>>10551859>>10551866judging by lace at the wrists, I think it might be this, though I cloud be wrong

What are everyone's current favorite bell shaped petticoats? I have an A-line from Ariel and aurora, but they don't seem to seem bellshaped ones in a color other than the rainbow one?
>>10551606I didn't pay attention at the post numbers so I'm asking this again: Are socks from Jane Marple, ETC, Pink House for bigger calves possible?
How many years of experience of being into/wearing lolita is acceptable for starting a comm? specifically in a small area with no other comm there, if that changes anything
>>10551903Just get some pals in the same fashion together and have fun. Instant comm. Basic rule is just wear the fashion. You can grow together and learn to coord better. It is more fun with friends around.
Why is closetchild absolute shit now? What happened?
>>10551942I'm assuming you're talking about how everything is bought in like 30 seconds? It's bots and scalpers. I use a script and I can't even checkout fast enough.
>>10551859>>10551878I'm fairly certain that's the cross arch lacePersonally I feel the cross arch lace in particular leans a little too obviously gothic to be used in classic, but I do think that depending on the motifs of the coord/dress you're pairing it with you could get away with using it for classic, specifically if you're doing something with a medieval theme. I think I Do Declare's fashion shows/pieces might be worth a glimpse to see what I mean with medieval inspired classic. On the other hand if you're just talking about the style and intend something like >>10551871 where the lace is more delicate and floral, I think that works with classic just fine.
>>10551609i have wonder cookie, dream macaron, day dream carnival, night carnival, and present box rings and none of them have tarnished or broken>>10551897they have one that's the same shape as the rainbow in white, i ordered it recently
>>10551931that's a really cute answer,thanks anon <3 i hope i have friends soon
So I have a JSK that's trimmed entirely in cotton/torchon lace that I really like the silhouette of with one of my blouses, but the blouse is trimmed all in tulle lace. They're both solid black so I'm thinking it won't be as obvious but the styles feel a little discordant. Is it weird to mix the two, or am I just being neurotic?
>>10551960How do you like the level of poof?
>>10551988Might be a little weird but not too noticeable if they're both black, if the blouse is long sleeve try and layer some black torchon wristcuffs with it?
I made myself one of those old scraggly usakumyas using a GLB pattern and it turned out really well. Had so much fun with the project that I want to make more, but will never need that many for myself. How wrong would it be to put them up for sale, given that they are good enough to sell? Obviously disclosing that they're handmade and listing for a reasonable price.
>>10552246I'd definitely be interested!
>>10552246I always wanted one but i can't sew for life
>>10551960>none of them have tarnished or brokenI mean these darken or dull spots like on pic related. Is it possible to keep the ring looking like new?
>>10552246it sounds like a nice idea to me, like you'd probably get some people complain for whatever reason but i'm sure a lot of people want thosedo it!
>>10552274mine don't have those so i'd say yeah, i have that exact ring in a different color. you can prob polish it off too.>>10552181not with me yet unfortunately, but i ordered it because i like milkfemme's silhouette, if you want to see what it looks like
Why does Marinakei_ have so many people who ass pat and like her coords? There are SOOO many plus size and black sweet lolitas who coord better than her. Sorry if this sounds stupid but I’m genuinely baffled bc her outfits are shit.
Aside from innocent world, what are some other brands that make good blouses?
>>10551631Where are you based? I don’t know very much about southern comms but the north has a very active and friendly scene.
>>10552301In the southeast. I live in a Muslim-majority area, so I doubt there are many lolita/active comms in my area
>>10552246Post a pic, I want one
>>10552307I suggest checking the EGL UK comm spreadsheet
Why is it considered oldschool up til 2006 specifically
What is the proper jp term for rectangle headdresses, when searching for secondhand stuff?
>>10552293What styles are you looking for? Anna House's blouse styles are a little dated, but great quality and comfortable. Dear Celine has the best quality for blouses on taobao, in my experience. Victorian Maiden's mainstay blouses can sometimes be found for cheap on JP secondhand sales but fit small, but are excellent quality.Personally I really dislike Baby/AATP's blouses. I find the fit and quality to be poorer than many other brands- overdesigned and underexecuted.
>>10551946I'm a cc customer since 2007 and there was always these buying battles there. CC lists items which are also in their physical stores and it can happen they update with stuff which is already sold out there. This happened to me a few times already. I admit it got a bit wilder abd more competitive over the years but the updates have a lot of more items than back in that time too.I think over all it didn't change much. It's just that there are more people interested in Lolita and especially in older items which doesn't help the competitive situation.
How bad quality is bodyline and is it easy to alter it?I’m interested in getting some secondhand and getting it altered to remove the petticoat poof, and turning them into cute casual normie dresses and skirts
>>10552396nayrt but I find AATP blouses fit me the best, so I'm surprised to hear that you find their fit to be poorer than many other brands.
>>10552466I always just felt like the construction had too many 'one size fits all' details compared to other brands that made them feel like I was wearing a costume piece. Things like wrists that are shirred but the shirring is quite loose for my small wrists. My shoulders are also quite petite although my bust is average (~88cm on a bad day), and I always felt like the shoulders and sleeves were hanging off of me. Collars often felt too loose/big around my neck as well.IW and VM are my favorite brands for blouses, I don't often buy them from other brands anymore besides the occasional taobao or axes femme.
What's the best way to store a very heavy velveteen JSK? I don't want to hang it up by the straps since they're only attached to the bodice by a couple buttons, but I heard folding velveteen can cause permanent creasing and isn't recommended either.
>>10552514You could try sewing hanger loops into the bodice lining of the dress (I'm assuming it's lined if it's velveteen). That way if there is any stress damage it'll at least only be on the inside and not damage the dress's wearability.
>>10552408I don't think you've been paying enough attention to CC in the last year then honestly, or maybe you aren't buying the most popular items. It used to be that if you were on the site when it updated, you could get at least one good item (I got a ton of good stuff that way). The problem isn't that things are sold before they are posted - I see the listings live, but by the time the "add to cart" page loads, someone's already bought it. Also the site crashes now when it updates because so many people are trying to buy things. I've had CC charge me even when I didn't secure items because there's a corner case where if two people are checking out at the same time, the system will charge both of them (while only one person gets a confirmation email). I've messaged CC at least 4 separate times and they had to do a manual refund for me. Like I said, it's got so bad I built a script and figured out some other advantages, and even the script isn't fast enough for popular items. I think around April or May last year is when it started to become insane.
Can someone direct me to a tag, a post or something where lolitas with huge collections are sharing their wardrobe storage/setup?I have somewhere between 50-60 main pieces not including skirts and I'm trying to figure out what to do to avoid my home ending up looking like a store
how difficult is it to snipe a listing on LM? there's a dress I have my eye on ending in 3 days but idk if I should just bid now or in the last few minutes
>>10552578Beware of other snipers but no it isn't difficult. If you bid on it now, you raise the price unnecessarily but if you don't, the seller might reserve the auction for someone else in the meantime
>>10552380I don't think there's a term for rectangle ones specifically, your best bet is to just search for headdresses in general using ヘッドドレス
>>10552457it always depends on the item, like printed dresses tend to be worse than solid ones from what i've heard, from my experience the quality is fine, can feel kinda bulky at timesi recently did some major altering to their jsk and it was pretty easy to work with, plus you dont really have to worry about messing it up since its secondhand bodyline
>>10552307Bedfordshire? I'm in Hertfordshire and I just go to the London comm
>>10552665Thanks, yeah as long as the fabric itself looks decent and not weird irl (like some shitty screen printing does). I’m excited, will go get some bodyline shit to make cute summer non-lolita dresses! yeah sometimes i wish i can alter brand a bit, but then i feel guilty because its brand. But since its bodyline who cares
>>10552514Can you use hanger with clips and hang the dress by the skirt?
Can you still order from anna house site? Are they alive?
How is shipping from Bodyline right now? Are they still doing pmail or only UPS?
I got my first AP dress recently, it's a near perfect condition 2013 release and I happened to notice the buttons at the waistband were really loosely attached. I thought this was strange since the straps at the top of the dress are better secured. Is this normal for dresses released at that time? And, would it devalue the dress If I sewed on the buttons better? I'm going to take a needle and some white string and just reinforce the button through the same holes the original seamstress did it with.>inb4 fatassThe left button has a knot that is smaller than the hole the seamstress passed it through, I'm not sure how it hasn't fallen out by just sitting in my closet.
>>10552874>Is this normal for dresses released at that time? Yes>And, would it devalue the dress If I sewed on the buttons better? No
is it possible to block/blacklist someone on lm? or just decline selling to someone bc of personal reasons?
>>10552874I think it's normal for clothes in general to have loosely sewn on buttons. My friend's grandmother would resew all of them back on. I think a while ago here I saw someone mentioning it's so buttons are easier to put on, but obviously it results in buttons loosening a lot faster then.
>>10552875Straight to the point, thank you anon.>>10552877Maybe you're right, the blouses I own have buttons that range from loose buttons to tightly secured buttons that also tend to slip out on their own. I know a little bit about sewing and love learning more about it, so this makes me excited to know how more recent AP dresses are built. I'd love to pick up a baby dress too and discover how it was made and how it compares.
>>10552876Put it in your terms. It really depends if the mods are feeling nice or not though should that user buy anyway. But if you're comfortable naming them in your terms, I would think that would work.
>>10552874>>10552892Just a note that the waist ties buttons very specifically are supposed to have a thread shank, it reduces pull on the main fabric and makes it less likely to rip or something. Last time someone asked about "loose threads" it turns out she didn't know about this and thought they were all supposed to be sewn close to the fabric like the buttons on the bodice.
>>10552901Noted, thank you for letting me know.
>>10552901Thread shanks are for flat buttons; many waist tie buttons tend to be shank buttons which have the shank as part of the button already.
>>10552909AP and Meta both still do it to buttons that already have shanks. I'm not debating if they should or not. I just wanted to make people aware that having some thread between the button and the fabric is a thread shank and is done on purpose (whatever that purpose is), not a loose button.
>>10552925Even so waist tie buttons falling off ridiculously easily even on new dresses is a common problem amongst all sweet brands that people have mentioned on cgl before. It's weird because jsk strap buttons never seem to have this issue, just waist ties. Not saying you're wrong or arguing. Just kind of addressing this strange phenomenon
>>10552578Be warned that LM has a nasty habit of suddenly going down and staying down for several hours. If you really want the item, it might be worth placing a bid beforehand.
I've been eyeing used VW rocking horses with heavy damage to the wooden sole (pic related has similar damage, it's not the pair I've been eyeing but I'm using it as a reference since the damage is similar)Since the sole is wood, wouldn't sanding and adding new lacguer technically help at least somewhat? Do any gulls think it's doable for someone who has basic knowledge of power tools and woodwork projects? I would like to try it myself (and use professional shoe repairshop if I end up fucking up). Since the shoes would require a lot of repairs I probably wouldn't sell them in the future anyway, so it's not like someone else would be getting my DIY repaired rocking horses after me.
>>10552874This is often done in clothing manufacturing to minimize the risk of the fabric tearing where the button is before it reaches the end customer. If a button pops off, no big deal to put it back on. If it rips somehow, that's stock you have to discount or can't sell at all.
Does ap paris ship online orders on days they're closed? I was hoping my order could arrive before my birthday, but if it's going to ship on Wednesday I have no hope
>>10552977Sanding will hide the cosmetic damage but what I worry about is the structural one. In your example it looks like the wood is separating at the base, its o the front and back there. If that is on the one you are looking at, it likely will get worse with wear. The back sole also matters too, because if the wear is to the wood, you will need to find a way to build that area back up to make it flat again. Not sure how much a professional shoe person would know about restoring the wood.
I love the cutsew OPs that AP (and occasionally Baby/AaTP) release, and want to pad my wardrobe with some more. What's the best search term to use on fril/mercari? The ones that pop up on LM have been so stupidly overpriced except for the NWT listings.
>>10553027The pair that I've thought of buying don't seem to be separating at the base, but the wood is otherwise pretty banged up like the one in the pic. I see your point tho, the back sole is pretty worn in my pair too. I guess I could show a pic of the shoes at my usual shoe repairshop and ask if they'd be able to do anything to the wood, and refrain from buying the shoes if they say they're are a lost cause.
are there actually britlolitas pissed at Tyler's UK vid? I'm a britfags myself and I don't get how anyone could be offended
I'm sweaty as shit and, in order to not get any marks from sweat or aluminum, is it best to after applying the deodorant, immediately wash the area with water, as to not allow sweat to cause any stains, or allow the aluminum to stain the clothes? Also, do any of you have deodorant recommendations?
>>10553120Someone mentioned the kosas deodorant which uses acidity to kill/keep bacteria from growing. There are also natural deodorants from other brands that use microsilver to create inhospitable environments for bacteria as well to reduce smell without clogging pores, but since it's still a metal idk how it will help avoid staining. Basically products that get rid of skin bacteria without leaving residue are probably your best bet, there's a bit more variety these days than there used to be.
>>10553123a lot of 'natural' deodorants still use the aluminium usually called something else. so you have to be careful.
>>10553126I did specify the one I was thinking of using silver, not aluminum. I just looked it up and the brand is called nuud.
>>10553056If you’re active in UK comm you know that it caused a lot of splits and divisions in this comm that desu never would’ve happened if she hadn’t gotten involved
What's better for tree trunk legs, tights or OTKs?
>>10553191depends on the brand and whether you're tall or not
>>10553197I'm short and I have short legs, I'm mostly worried about distorting the design because of my calves.
>>10553034Hey cutsew lover! I just search by ‘tops’ category and it populates with cutsews.AP does not make many cutsews and they seem to be popular, so just fyi you may not find much/at a good price. The lowest they go is about $40 usd. There are also more on jp yahoo auctions
How long is the big sale on Cc going for? Can’t find any info on when it ends
>>10553198also short with tree trunk legs, the answer is crew socks. btssb and aatp otks will likely fit you, but give up on 99% of AP otks.
I've been looking for Angelic Pretty's Strawberry-chan shirred OP but I'm not finding any results on Mercari or Rakuma. A anon in the secondhand thread they saw it on Mercari but I haven't found it. I tried the japanese name on lolibrary and have gone as far as searching lolita strawberry in japanese with no results for either OP's. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there another Japanese secondhand market where old school and early lolitas sell there wardrobes?
>>10553267it literally just sold on LM
>>10553267>she doesn't know about how shitty Japanese lolitas are at properly labeling their burandoOn a serious note though try searching anpuri in katakana, that often brings up obscure or hard to find AP stuff that has no print name.
>>10553267If no one is selling it, you're not going to be able to find it. You have to wait until it pops up again and fight the rest of us who want it.
>>10553267>A anon in the secondhand thread they saw it on Mercari but I haven't found it.they probably meant it sold on mercari recently, don’t be daft
>>10553123I did some involved research on this topic. tldr; Acidity that kills the bad bacteria also kill the good kind and in the end, fucks up the flora balance. It's best to use probiotic deos that introduce good bacteria that feed on the bad ones or use a antiperspirant that blocks the glands enough to not produce sweat that feeds bad bacteria.I tried about 20 different ones over the course of a year. Deo containing ingredients such as coconut oil, magnesium, charcoal, etc etc WILL stain, and they aren't that great at preserving natural/good flora balance
>>10553120You can try armpit pads
>>10553271>>10553273>>10553275>>10553275Thanks everyone, I was debating getting the one on Lace Market but the price rose past my personal limit. I'm really hoping to get it since it might be what got me into Lolita
Would I be able to fit into AP tights/stocking-style OTKs? I'm 5'6" and 130 pounds. I carry most of my weight in my butt and thighs. Not sure if the biggest hurdle is my height or big hips.
>>10553400It's your armpit, not your gut. Odds are it's probably better to just kill all the bacteria than try to seek out nonexistent probiotic deodorant. If it blocks your pores it's just doing what aluminum deodorant is doing in which case armpit pads are the solution to reduce stains if you don't want to change products. Also, good bacteria doesn't mean it smells good. So sure you can have a balanced armpit microbiome but it can still smell.
Um...is this for real that I can’t wash my bunny college cardigan in water???!! How is 50% wool/50%acrylic going to be ruined if i gently wash it in water? Anyone know?I haven’t worn it yet but I don’t want to bother with dry cleaners if I don’t have to
>>10553471You can probably wash it if your washing machine has a wool setting, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.
>>10553472Ohh ok, and what if I hand wash it? Is Hand washing ok? Does the tag just mean, don’t put it in a laundry machine with water?
>>10553471So most laundry care labels are a complete lie and just assume the consumer is dumb and wreckless. I've washed a 100% heavy wool sweater in a laundry machine before and it was fine. Use a laundry net so the fabric doesn't get pulled out of shape, delicate cycle, and don't put it in a dryer. Wool will shrink like crazy. Just be smart/careful and most likely nothing bad will happen.
>>10553471>>10553478Forgot to mention, always use cold water too. Never hot.
>>10553478>>10553479Ah thank you, that makes sense. I was over here thinking maybe the water will cause the dye to run or something.I might just hand wash but i will for sure get a laundry net and never dry or put in hot water
>>10553481You can do a spot test to see if the dye will run, but most colors other than red are set pretty well.Manufacturers just assume you'll throw the piece into a machine willy-nilly with like heavy jeans and abrasive soaps, and then chunk it in a dryer on high heat, which would easily ruin it. They don't want to be responsible for any damage, so they always put the most restrictive guidelines possible to minimize fault.Happy washing, anon!
>>10553448I'm the same height and weight as you, was cursed with big thighs and a 40 inch dump truck ass and I don't fit AP tights or OTKs
>>10553489Well shit. I just ordered some tights and my hips are like 37-38 inches. Time to cry.
>>10553489Well that answers the question I've always had about the tights. I have a 41" butt and just figured it wasn't likely.
Ok but what about Meta tights?
>>10553489>mfw 42in hips and ass and large thighsi don't even bother
Where can I get mint or yellow tea parties in EU 40? I’d prefer brand but LLs are so hard to find and cotton candy shop is overpriced for the quality (though I wouldn’t mind something of that quality for a lower price)

>>10553491Since they're already bought, some tallitas have mentioned they turn them into OTKs and then wear them with garter belts. Just another option in case you can't sell them on/really want to wear them for whatever reason.
>>10553674Thanks anon. I remember seeing someone say that and it's tempting. I'll have to see what happens when I can try the tights on.
>>10553491Don’t despair. I have the same hips as you but I’m 5’8” and some AP tights fit on me and some don’t. You’ve still got a chance!
>>10553715Oh wow. I'll hang on to my sliver of hope then. The tights I ordered are 2013-2014.
>>10553735I'm small and short, but a tip I learned from a tall friend is if they're just a bit too small, put on bloomers to help hold them up. This really only works if they're just a bit small though, obviously if they're way too small it won't work.

>>10553861Honestly my advice is DIY any straw headpiece (bonnet, boater hat, etc.) because the straw hats tend to be cheap and even someone who isn’t fantastic at crafting can pull it off well. I just personally feel like most brands way overcharge for straw hats they slap ribbon on.
any reviews on ponoko or other places that offer acrylic laser cutting? i have ideas for my own plastic jewelry

Has anyone purchased off of mercari with the buyee option? How was the experience, and how is the cost compared to other SS that shop on mercari? Also can buyee purchases be bundled with tenso?
>>10554398Buyee is by Tenso and the fee is charged by weight instead of a set %, so it's really annoying for heavier orders.
>>10554408So then all buyee purchases will be stored with my current tenso packages, and I can consolidate them? The few things I want to buy are very small and lightweight, so that works in my favour.
Got an item described as in "great condition" with no flaws, it came to me filthy and with huge rips but still usable. Seller refunded me half of the price, should I still leave negative feedback or does it makes more sense to leave a neutral one?
>>10554475No, you were scammed. Leave negative feedback. You should have either gotten a full refund or sent the item back.
>>10554475Seconding >>10554478, if they'd given you a full refund I would say neutral but you should definitely leave negative.
>>10554398I just got my shipment with them today and everything was packed well(I did not use protective packaging bc it was clothes)and came safe and quick bc dhl is like one of the only options from them atm. I had free shipping tho bc they had a special for new shoppers so I felt like I got my money’s worth. They were very quick to buy my items so that’s definitely a benefit. Haven’t used other SS yet so can’t really compare but I like their service.
>>10554487I've used tenso before so I'd assume it's the same quality of service, I didn't know buyee has dhl, hopefully that will apply to tenso as well, sea mail sucks. I have two tenso packages in the warehouse right now, I just submitted my buyee order and *hopefully* I can combine my buyee order with the tenso orders... If anyone can let me know if that's possible to combine both I'd really appreciate it. On a side note, I didn't really like using buyee right now, it's probably more expensive than tenshi and she offers a lot more than buyee does. So if you haven't used other SS yet I recommend you try some different ones, I consider tenshi the best but I use japonica when I don't need super personalized/specific service or speed. Both also do one charge for a whole order, I did not like buyee's cart system...
>>10554492Oh I definitely only used it because free shipping was on the table. Service was good but yeah more expensive than others. Tenshi is on my list to use in the future. I’ve only heard good things.
>>10554398I've used buyee once and I'll never use them again. I bought 2 items for my friends birthday, a cushion and a picket, and everything was fine, I thought the fees were decent. But when it came to consolidating them, they wrote down the weight as over 4000kg, on a box that was about 600kg. I asked them to weigh it again, they said they did and that that was the actual weight (I weighed it and shocker, they were wrong). So I had to pay like £60 in shipping, which made my package high enough to pay customs (as they wouldn't lie about package value for me), resulting in £120 of shipping on 2 cheap items. Now I use White Rabbit as my ss and Blackship for my Japanese address and they've never fucked me over, plus they're cheaper
Does anyone know any brand blouses that have princess sleeves but are also short sleeves, so that the sleeves end around the elbows?
How long do those "Sold Out" listings for Mercari and Fril stay up? I thought those were like records that were saved, but now that I think about it that can't be it.
>>10554514I think it depends on when the seller deletes it. Sometimes there are really old listings, and sometimes they disappear quickly.
>>10554512pick princess sleeves in features on lolibrary when searching for blouses and a ton will pop up
What's he ig handle?
>>10554492Anon, unfortunately you can’t combine Buyee and Tenso orders since even though they’re run by the same company, they’re different services. Tenso is basically a warehouse where you send items that you can order yourself but can’t ship directly outside of Japan, while Buyee is a proxy shipping service who can help you buy from sites where you may not be able to sign up for due to needing a Japanese phone number or other information.I’ve used Tenso a bunch and I’ve had a great experience; however the consolidation fees really add up after ~5 packages!
Are there scans of Girlism?
>>10554500You paid 60£ of shipping for a package supposedly weighing 4 tons? What a deal
Anyone know a service like Tenso but for China? Everything I google looks like a scam.
>>10554730did you look at the taobao thread, even once? there's an entire list of chinese shopping services.
>>10554644Fuck, my dumb ass assumed from the first anon that replied to me that I could combine the two, so I already put in a small buyee order that is not worth international shipping on its own... Thank you for answering my question though anon, I wish I waited a bit longer to see your reply. I've used tenso a lot, (especially now with covid restrictions) and avoided buyee like the plague over the years from horror stories on fees/poor service, now I finally know why. Sucks that their tenso service is great while buyee is severely lacking.
>>10554737nta but why did you even assume that in the first place?
>>10554735i'm not looking for a shopping service lol i'm specifically looking for a chinese address package forwarder like Tenso.
>>10554765yes anon, that's why the doc lists which ones are forwarding services, cunt.
>>10554741>can buyee purchases be bundled with tenso?>"Buyee is by Tenso"I did say I was dumb, I thought that was an indirect answer and didn't want to be snippy with that anon asking if that was the answer to my question...
>>10553448I'm about the same size, stocking style OTKs are a big no. Unless you like thigh muffin top. Normal OTKs are usually fine. Surface printed tights are technically wearable but look bad if the stretched out thigh part is showing. Screen printed tights with a vertical design are better. For both tights, they're kind of short but can be held up with something like bike shorts.
>>10554770okay yeah im retarded, i just assumed it was all the same usual ones with no forwarding. thanks anon
>>10552901Does anyone know how to reattach a waist tie button using the original thread? One of mine fell off but the thread is still attached.Do I just need to look up "reattach shank thread?" Or is it impossible to reattach?
I bought a dress that I don't love the way it fits once I got it in hand. Is it acceptable to re-sell it for the same price I got it for since I've only worn it for a few minutes?
Is it considered bad/rude/gross to reuse Amazon boxes or boxes from other things I ordered for selling lolita? I feel like reusing is important but they usually have other shipping labels and stuff that I black out with a marker
Incredibly embarassing question but I’ve been wearing lolita for about 2 years and I’ve still never learned how to tie my own waist ties... the only time I’ve had them was when I got a housemate or my boyfriend to tie them before a meet, but 90% of the time I don’t have anyone there to do it for me and I don’t know how myself. Every time I’ve tried it just looks ugly and lopsided! How do you guys go about doing it??
>>10554836Rip off the original shipping labels and it’s perfectly fine, as long as the contents are safely and neatly packaged idc what box it comes in
>>10554837angelicbrittney on tiktok has a tutorial on it (couldn't post the link, filter thought it was spam, but she only has a few videos)i prefer to take them off and tie them and then button them back on when i'm ready, but most of the time i can't be assed to wear them and i think that's pretty common
>>10554836No, I do it all the time. I put it in my terms I use recycled boxes and bubble wrap. If a buyer wants a new one, I'll charge them a small fee, though I've never had to. Everyone compliments my packaging, but I'm not trying to use garbage bags or boxes that were destroyed already.
>>10554836It's completely fine, I've had people send me stuff from abroad using amazon and shoe boxes with no problem, I've never even considered it being a bad thing. I've mastered several group orders and I've never bought packaging, I just reuse whatever I already have, some being amazon stuff, and no ones ever mentioned it
>>10553491>>10553489I have 40” and AP tights are uncomfortable but look nice
>>10553499Where’d you find those? I keep checking for tights and all that gets released are OTKs. Metas print OTKs aren’t nice material anymore, I’ve worn out pairs in as little as 3 wears
Are there any good examples of lolita hair styles without bangs? I finally grew mine out because I have a cowlick in the front and bangs just don’t suit no matter how they were cut or styled. Wigs are ok, but I don’t want to have to wear a wig every time. What hair accessories can I wear? I’m assuming most Headbow are out.
>>10554875I got them in a LP a few years back
>>10553120Have you tried Botox for hyper hydrosis?
>>10553056I'm also in the UK and it hasn't even been discussed in my comm.
>>10553448I'm 5'5 and 103, and I find AP tights really uncomfortable. I only have the fantasy theater tights and dolls tea party tights, both bought new. They kinda stretch out the print/the colour kind of looks weird. Like I have DTP in black, and you can see lines of white like the print is stretching. Also, the crotch hang is real. My hips are like 34/35 and ik I'm not that much bigger than AP models so idk if it's just the tights.
>>10553559I would recommend just google image search like "lolita shoes mint", find some you like, and use the search by image function on taobao or ali
>>10554832I think it's fine, not like anything has happened to devalue it>>10554837Here's a video from Baby:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gco5r4DzjcPersonally I'm not bad at tying them behind me since I just practiced until I could get it down; most of my dresses have detachable ones so I only have to get it right once and then I just unbutton one side to get in again. You can also take it off and fix it up so it looks nicer once you have it tied well enough.>>10554882When you say bangless, do you mean only a fringe? I have side pieces but no fringe, and I like twin-styles (twin braids, braided loops), milkmaid braids, and other updo's like fancy buns. I wear classic, so YMMV on what works for your style.Headbows are a definite no for me, though, you're correct. Accessories on the side of the head or at the back of an updo work really well instead, as well as fancy ribbons/ties on twintail looks.
>>10554882Why not get clip on bangs? You could also try some kind of alice hair like picrel
Is there anything wrong with being a larper lolita exactly, do lolitas in general hate it?I lurk and like seeing coords and learning, but I don’t have any jsk. I have hair accessories, socks, and casual blouses from meta and ap, but that’s about it.Maybe i will get a jsk if I see one i really like
>>10554928if you don't wear lolitayou're not a lolitaperiod
>>10554931Ok that makes sense. I will just call myself jfash and say i’m interested in lolita fashion but not lolita, then
>>10554911I have some layers around my face but no fringe. My shortest pieces are mid face length. I can do simple twin braids, but def need some practice on updo’s. I wear sweet and have medium length hair on the thin side. >>10554912I have not been able to find clip in bangs that look convincing. I change my hair color often. I need human hair ones that I can custom color. They’re still an option though. Any recommendations on sellers?
>>10554985If you change you hair color often... i don’t know if you can do anything besides getting clip on bangs made of real human hair , that match your normal hair color enough. Its a lot of effort to dye clip on bangs but maybe it will work for you. I never had a problem with clip on bangs looking fake and i had some shitty ones from Claires and target before. It might be you’re overly critical of how they look on you. I don’t wear them anymore but you could probably find some from etsy
>>10554928larpers are only annoying because they try to give advice. if you haven't worn anything, you don't really understand how a coord collage differs from an actual coord. being able to judge how outfits look doesn't necessarily make you good at putting one together. larpers generally have the same issues with coords as noobs do, because they are noobs.
how do i xianyu?? I get that it's a taobao thing but I literally have no clue how to access or navigate it
>>10555002Same. I can only find WTB posts
Does anyone know where you can get those star hair clips on taobao?
>>10555002Same. Idk if I'm a retard or what but every time I click on anything on the homepage it kicks me to normal Taobao
>>10555073I think you have to use the app
>>10554999Oh that makes sense, yeah i don’t give advice on coords i just lurk and ask questions. I mean i would say it looks weird or good if someone asks me irl. I think i just have to go for it and get a jsk. I will keep an eye out for a nice one. I want to do irl meetups with lolitas. I just like looking at it. (when covid is over) but i think it would be weird if i was not in lolita
Where can I buy rocking horse shoes nowadays? They aren't on bodyline anymore and i don't want to spend 400 euro on Vivienne Westwood ones.

Any SF lolitas can answer? How do you keep the wind from lifting skirts? I got a couple ETC jsk that I wanna wear in public. Will dress weights be enough?I will wear shorts under everything. but I still don’t like to have the wind lift up at all
Is Yamato/UPS getting slower recently? In the summer, I'd get my package in 4 days from Japan to the US. Then it crept up to 5 days. Now it's looking like the earliest it will come is Monday, which makes it 8 days because they don't deliver on weekends, and I'm kind of frustrated.
>>10555685I have noticed my Yamato packages getting slower but UPS delivers 7 days a week in my part of the country. My HC socks went missing recently because my UPS driver never actually delivered them despite claiming they did though...opened an investigation but heard nothing back yet. I hate this.
>>10555691Wtf. Now I'm just worried. My packages are always expensive and I'd be really stressed out if one went missing.I live on the west coast in a very densely populated city. I don't know why there's no Saturday delivery here for worldwide expedited shipments. I just kind of hate when packaged don't get delivered Friday and they sit in some warehouse until Monday. Way more opportunities for it to just get misplaced or lost.
Is it rude to ask a seller if their dress ran small when their flat measurement came significantly under the lolibrary entry for it? It's a gorgeous dress and I'm not trying to imply the seller is up to anything.
>>10555719Nah. Just ask the seller if the dress seems true to size or does the size of the dress seem like it's smaller than the lolibrary listing indicates. Lolibrary isn't always 100% accurate
>>10555707Yeah I live in a fancy place that uses a package locker system to UPS should have had the package photographed and places in a locker or placed in our package room but it was nowhere to be found so I'm thinking the driver just lied and never delivered it or even showed up that day.
>>10555707I happen to work for a company that deals directly with UPS (as in I am aware of certain employees there and their employment status) and UPS has been firing a lot of people recently. I don't really know why, or what's happening. UPS is heavily unionized to prevent this sort of thing, so hopefully things get better soon. I wish I had better info for you. Stay strong anon.
>>10555733Thanks for the added info anon. It's really strange to me that any postal/shipping company would be firing anyone, since the need for it is so high right now. I'll keep waiting, but it's just frustrating that apparently the same shipping cost gets people different delivery days in different parts of the US (weekend delivery vs weekday only, but somehow both paid for the same shipping speed)
Gulls I need your help. I ordered with Buyee for the first time and I can't ship my package via DHL? The page errors every time I try to pay for my shipping. I've tried 4 times already. I looked it up and DHL's website says they still ship from Japan to my country even with the covid stuff happening. Anyone have experience with this? I contacted them already but I'm scared they might take ages to respond.
>>10555759I had buyee deliver a dhl package to me in the usa, 2 weeks ago. And the dhl option was showing for me yesterday when i shipped something.Have you tried doing it from the buyee app (yes there is an app and it works fine) or going to it from another browser?Their customer service is real people and they always responds within 3 days (usually 1 day for me) but also i spent like $1k on stuff
>>10555764Thanks for your quick reply anon! that put me at ease. Hope they'll get back to me soon.
>>10555759Not through buyee but I have a packaged in transit right now with DHL from japan to USA. Good luck anon
>>10555764>>10555802Anons I'm so stupid. Turned out the error was because I didn't have enough money in my account. I forgot my gym membership got renewed today so my acc was short 10 bucks. baka. Well now I know for next time
>>10555835How poor are you
When auctioning on LM, is it generally better to go with longer or shorter auctions? I have some items I'm planning on listing, but my city is on lockdown with our second wave of covid, so I won't be able to bring anything to the post office for a couple of weeks at least. Should I set my auctions to 14 days, or would it be better to just go with a 7 day auction (making sure that the shipping delay info is in the description)?
>>10555838Yea I'm quite poor atm cos of personal/mental health reasons, this is my first brand purchase in 2 years and quite a big thing for me. hope pointing this out makes you happy or something?
>>10555846please don't spend money you don't have anon jfc.
>>10555847oh but I have the money, it was just sitting in a different account than the one I was using, hence why the gym membership got in the way. easy fix really.
>>10555839I like 7 days. And just make sure to put the listing up at a normal hour, since you cant customize the end time.
>>105558397 days are best. But yeah put it in the description and your TOS that shipping will have a delay bc lockdown
>>10555857>>10555871Thank you, anons! I figured 7 days was probably the better option. And I'll definitely make sure that the shipping delays are highlighted in the descriptions. I've been using my time off to do some Marie Kondo-ing in my wardrobe so I have a bunch of stuff to take photos and measurements of this week.
This isn't technically a stupid question, but as a noob I can't believe I thought I was going to have to buy a bunch of socks in every color when I could just do this to my base-color socks, so I want to share this with my fellow noobs. (Not my IG obviously.)
With a cloak like this, do i wear the bag over or under it? It has arm slits but they are only comfortable for short usage and most of time i would have to keep my arms under the cloak.
>>10555857I’ve made this mistake before. I work graveyard shifts and sometimes I forget that not everyone wants to be up in the middle of the night. I appreciate the dedication of people that got up that early to bed at the end, but I know I probably could’ve gotten more if I ended it in the afternoon when people were awake
I love cardigans in the leader and I also love short sleeve puffy blouses. But whenever I layer them on top of each other there’s like a big line on my upper arm. Is this awful? Or is this just something that people won’t care about?
>>10556064Oops my phone corrected lolita to leader
>>10556064just don't wear both at the same time? wear a long sleeve blouse under the cardigan. or don't wear a cardigan and wear a short sleeve puff. Lolita cardigans are not very thick and will show lines. You could do pic related but it's just gonna cover your short sleeve blouse, so there's no point
For what reason would someone list an item on LM under the wrong brand? The item is a brand piece, and was listed under a brand no one is really looking at. There are pics showing the brand tag and such, but it made me kind of uneasy even though I want the item.
>>10556106Good to know you've never made a mistake once in your entire life. Chill
One of my dresses has a very very faint yellow mark on the back of the peter pan collar. It’s sweat from when I last wore it, for sure. I wash my lolita regularly, even my brand, but I am super nervous about this little mark. Is there anything I can do for sure to get rid of it? I am sure it will wash out easily, but I’d like to do something extra just to ease my own anxiety. It’s Sweetie Violet by AP
>>10556122Look up how to make homemade oxyclean. All you need is washing soda (not baking) and hydrogen peroxide and you can get rid of almost any stain.
They are fine in that department, the jewellery that I have had with me more than 7 years the old but I had a ring that comes from an AP release of 2013 and it is still gold and the discoloration is in all the metal area, I had a chocolate mug ring from AP that I get in 2016 right from the store and the color is fine I didn't notice discoloration and I wear this alot, the resin part is fine delicate like the resing itself is but they don't fell apart they made good quality rings, I had just one or two rings from qpot I had a wooden cookie/silicón chocolate ring and it is in excelent condition due the times that I use it, the golden part it is still golden and it don't had any deformation in the circle part of the ring and this Is very well atached to the rest of the ring, I had to mention that if you go to a city that had humid climate don't bring with you the pieces that had silicón glue to another material xD they fell apart but well they can be easily fixed using instant contact glue and the ring will be in one piece forever, well at least 3 years :)
Is there some kind of reliable shopping service in the US? There's often so many auctions on LM I want to bid on but they don't want to ship international
>>10556139Have you messaged to see if they might allow you to buy? A lot of us just put no international shipping because we’re tired of people screaming at us that we’re scamming for charging $80 for shipping when we don’t control the postal service. If you message them and say you’re willing to pay they might be open to selling to you.
>>10555442Thanks. How's the sizing on those? I couldn't find a chart.>>10555725What category of theirs are they under? Google translate isn't really helping me out.
>>10553559You can find some in aliexpress I mean most of the ofbrand shoes are the same kind of quality, brand teapartys are delicate but they wont fell apart, I am 41 and LL size teapartys from ap don't fit me :(, I had a pair of CCF and they are fine, they don't get easily scratched and they are in one piece they worth the value due the price and the quality of the brand ones and they make shoes in your size and the LL size is tricky is larger but not widther
>>10553585I don't know where you can get one commissioned, and Brown blouses are dificult to see in ofbrand stores, you can consider use a cream blouse they allways goes good with Brown and the most of colors that the chocolate prints had, it allways be a good combo if you use cream blouse and cream legwear, just be sure your creams match, AP allways use a yellowish tone, iw usually goes well with off withe, baby is allways a pain with cream because they use a lot of materials but they live in the sandy brownish tone and a little dark toned off withe, but mostly of they'r chocolate/Brown prints goes well with of withe

Is there something like a sweet style dolly kei and I don't mean cult party kei, which don't use obviously sweet prints, at least I didn't found any pictures of such.I want to style my very prominent sweet prints in a more mature way without getting too casual or ott and I really like the idea of dolly kei with classic lolita. I'm paranoid about sun fading so I keep them away from my windows, damage over time by hanging and gravity terrify me so I keep them folded in plastic, and permanent creases and wrinkles are my nightmares so I unpack all dresses and air them out. What should I do? I feel like I'm just keeping them in pristine condition just to sell them off. Also, how do you store your petticoats? I had crinolines until now and I'm terrified storing them wrong will deflate it prematurely. Also also, is the wunderwelt cupcake petticoat worth it? I remember lor kept endorsing it before she made her Cream and Sugar video.
>>10556667I mean this in the nicest way possible but you sound like you need professional help.
>>10556667I hang my favorite pettis inside out from a closet hook so that the lining can breathe and the floof stays hanging loose, and the rest of them are mashed into a storage bag because they're already kinda squished.I hang all of my dresses too, I am sort of worried about the straps like you say but my dresses are packed so tightly in my skinny closet that I imagine they're all sort of holding each other up and supporting the weight, lol
>>10556667I fold my dresses at the waist and stick them through the hanger that way so the straps aren't stressed, although it does sound like you're being a bit overly paranoid. Do you not own an iron or steamer? Wrinkles aren't permanent damage so I don't understand why that would be such an issue to you.
>>10556667>is the wunderwelt cupcake petticoat worth it? I remember lor kept endorsing it before she made her Cream and Sugar video.Actually she was also shilling MeLikesTea for a while as well. Probably more worth the price but most people just recommend Aurora and Ariel.
>>10556668>>10556673I'm usually this paranoid most of the time so I didn't think it was problem. Although I was aware that my paranoia was going too far when I would worry about my house burning down while I was on vacations or away at work.
>>10556667As someone who grew up poor and never had nice things, I sympathize with this mentality. It helped to realize that these dresses are simple cotton (or poly) dresses, they won't melt if they're exposed to water or turn to ash if worn outside. Maybe after a decade+ of hanging, dresses might need some elastic repair but that's a simple fix for a tailor; would rather hang my clothes for 10 years and pay $10 down the line to repair some elastic than hang/fold my clothes all weird and worry. Also for worries presented in >>10556683 maybe check out getting your collection insured, something I plan on looking into myself now that my closet is probably worth past the 4 figure mark.
How heavy are these pierced ones? Suitable for daily wear?
>>10551609I know that baby uses ems and it says on their website that they won't ship to the usa until ems opens back up again, but is there any way to ask them to use yamato/dhl without being rude? Or have any americans bought from baby in the past year and gotten their packages yet?
>>10556732No, they won't even if you ask and offer to pay more for it. What they're actually doing for US orders is shipping to their SF branch and fulfilling from there. It can take months though.
>>10556732I ordered from the Japan store in early June and got my order in early August. They had to ship my dress to the SF store then the SF store shipped it to me. I expected it to take a lot longer than that. Not sure how long it would take now.
>>10556733>>10556734Thank you! I was hesitant about placing an order bc of the ems notice, but I feel much better about it now.
>>10554398Buyee-mercari anon here again with another dumb question: one of the items I got has yet to be purchased by Buyee because the seller was questioning them in the comments, and raised the price twice since they replied to Buyee's comments, now the price is about double that of the original which is totally not worth it. So is buyee going to charge me/take money out automatically or ask if I want to go with the sale first before buying it? I was hoping it was a placeholder price but the two price changes is making me nervous.
>>10554627Amino egl community
>>10556756Every time I have checked out with Buyee I pay the price upfront. Are you trying to buy an item that's not able to be bought with the special "buy with buyee" or whatever button on mercari?
>>10556756 I have heard of some seller raising the price if they realise it's going to a western person, or even anywhere outside Japan, justifying it because that's supposedly the market price out of Japan. I don't know what buyee will do, but I think it's best to use a shopping service that doesn't make it obvious that it is a shopping service, if that makes sense
>>10556756would reach out to buyee and tell them to forget it
>>10556130>>10556245>>10556248Thanks for the replies! I ended up trying some distilled white vinegar I had kicking around and that took it right out. But these are all pretty good, I'll keep them in mind in the future!
>>10556759It was an item that had the "buy with buyee" button, but I guess the seller's terms still required commenting before purchasing? That or it was an old listing. Buyee still charged me for the original amount, I just wanna know if they'll automatically take out money again without asking me if I want to go through with it more. I know I sound stupid but I've always heard horror stories on buyee's lack of communication throughout the years. >>10556762Yeah I think that's it. The first price change happened after the seller's reply to buyee, asking if it's going to be resold. I thought they were just confused about what buyee is given buyee's last response explaining their service, but now it seems like they just don't wanna deal with a western buyer, hence the final price increase. I usually use other SS, this was my first and last time using buyee. >>10556763yeah, probably going to have to do that, hopefully they see my inquiry before they do anything stupid
I'm the anon with the paranoia issue with another question. How do you clean your dresses? Especially if they're secondhand? I keep them in my freezers for 72 hours then hand wash them after doing the q tip and waist tie test.
>>10556865Dry cleaner if applicable. Hand washing is fine too. Hope you get your anxiety/paranoia under control anon.
What happened to Lacebook?
>>10556985Websites cost money to ruin and no one felt like paying
>>10557006>Websites cost money to ruinI'm sure this is a typo but I lol'd, unintentional honesty perhaps
Why itas get more likes than me?
>>10557023better camera quality, cuter faces, better social skills
>>10557013a typo as well as a freudian slip, thanks autocorrectbut basically none of the members wanted to pay for the service and there was endless bitching when the lacebook team tried to put in ads on the site so now we get nothing
Is there a weibo for taobao lolita updates or just japanese brand lolita updates?
>>10557063Man, I don't even get why anyone bitches about ads. Just put on an adblocker and move on with your life.
What's the deal with AP camisols (the decorative ones)? I'm assuming they're meant to be worn as blouses and it's just the terminology getting to me? Some of them have ruffles instead of sleeves though, and I'm not sure if that's immodest or not.
>>10556732I made an order in August of last year and another order in September. They sent the first order to the SF store in October and I got it shortly after that. I'm still waiting on the second order. I bought the second order right after they already packed everything up for the SF shipment, so they couldn't combine shipping with my first order. It's been 5 months. If I were you I'd use tenso or an SS.
Anyone have suggestions for escaping bra straps with square neck blouses and OP's? My shoulders are quite narrow so my bra straps like to fall down as it is unless I pull them pretty far inward but then they pop out from under these sorts of necklines. I don't want to resort to a strapless if I can help it.
>>10557137casual lolita. If you look for GLB scans around the years they came out in, it was a pretty popular look for summer.>>10557174Use a safety pin to keep the bra strap and shoulder strap together. A better option, if you're handy with sewing, is to permanently sew a snap and thread to hold the bra strap to the shoulder straps. The safety pin pokes a hole in the shoulder straps, and moving around does cause some stress to the holes, so doing the safety pin for a long time can cause quite a large hole to form in the shoulder strap.
Where is this actually from?
>>10557581Atelier Boz. They last sold the short sleeve version in 2017, but they just released a long sleeve version.
Has anyone used Personal Shopper Japan? The one with Yumi? The service seems legit but honest reviews would be appreciated.
I got a classic dress that came with two clip-in hair bows of medium size, and while it seems like a waste to not use them, I'm not sure how to style them in a way that looks good with classic. Can anyone spoonfeed me some ideas?
>>10557779I'd pull the top layer of my hair back, curl two face framing pieces, and put a bow in the back of my hair
Why does /cgl/ , or at least 1 vocal anon, hate nefferinthia? They always call her a Nazi and basically say 'go see lolcow to know why she's a nazi' but all the lolita threads on /w/ don't provide evidence that suggests that she's a nazi, aside from 1 person insisting she's a nazi ad naesium. Can somebody explain what she did, aside from just wearing Die Walkure? or is it just a very vocal vendetta-chan?
>>10557174I have the same issue and I use something like this to keep the straps from falling!
>>10557023You're ita too
>>10557486Yeah, that's why I'm reluctant to just pin it, one of the dresses I have this issue with most the fabric is quite fine and delicate and I don't want to ruin it. The snaps are an interesting idea but I'm not sure I want to permanently sew a snap into a bra I use for various situations/outfits...>>10558369That looks like a good idea, do you know what they're called/how to search for them?
