Do AP bag straps usually look like that?

They probably will also have a long strap which is a pleater strap inside a chain. They often make two straps for small purses.

>1 year anniversary: advance release of 2 new prints in exclusive colorways, multiple rereleases, some in exclusive colorways, a new perfume, etc
>AP USA 10th year anniversary: here's 50 milky bears and that's it, good day to you
>>
>>10503624
I'm kind of holding out because a decade seems worthy of more celebration. But I know I shouldn't.
>>
I hate the AP perfume. Just looking at it gives me hives. I wish in 2020 we'd move beyond spraying cancer everywhere.

Don't forget the coupon!

I would have nutted if we got at least a tea cup or a mug
>>
>>10503624
I wonder if the milky bears were actually supposed to be gifts given to 10th anniversary tea party attendees but because of covid AP went "fuck it" and just sold them...
>>
>>10503682
Lmao they would never give something so expensive as gifts. I know the Japan tea parties do but they’d never do that in the US
>>
>>10503624
i atleast would have thought some kind of novelty candle or handkerchief or something.
>>
>>10503682
Maybe if it was a pin, but a whole ass bag? Nope
>>
>>10503684
>>10503703
They've given bags at Japanese tea parties/anniversaries, and this was going to be AP SF's 10th anniversary. 50 bears matches 50 max attendees at a usual party, don't think it's that far-fetched to imagine maybe AP wanted to actually care about the SF store for once?

>t b h i think it was a manufacturing delay - like with the SF exclusive halloween cats

>don't think it's that far-fetched to imagine maybe AP wanted to actually care about the SF store for once?
What fantasy world are you living in
>>
>>10503735
I bet you they would have given those 50 guess the privilege and honor of paying out the ass for them
>>
>>10503741
Not really out of the ass, but yeah, those were accessible for purchase. From what I remember they were giving the bear up as best dressed prize. For instance, Paris tea party got another grey bear.
>>
>>10503627
Last year they did the "exclusive color" of Holy Rosary even though it really wasn't, so there will probably be some kind of dress release but likely something that's already been released in Japan. I'm kinda hoping for Goodnight Sisters but I doubt it
>>
>>10503880
I think it’s just the pink noble collection, according to the webpage. Or are they in the habit of adding stuff last minute?
>>
>>10503926
They won’t add new stuff last minute, but there are often things in store that aren’t online. For the grand opening of the store they had several reprints that weren’t on the launch page, including a handful of toy fantasy JSKs and A few holy lanterns that weren’t listed and a few others I didn’t recognize.

Do you all think Toys Museum will be popular? I'm in love with the print but I'm not sure if I'll even be able to get it.
>>
>>10504287
>>10504332

At least it's Antoinette Princess, it was super popular when it was released (and is apparently still semi popular, given AP still re-releases it every now and again).

(It's not even my thing. I asked my SS for Antoinette Deco and she wrote back to clarify, because according to her Antoinette Princess was hot rocks and so many girls wanted it but it was apparently impossible to get).
>>
>>10504487
Hard to say. Imai Kira prints always generate some popularity, but Dream Cat Go Round didn’t sell out either. I think some colors will sell out rather quick, but black will stay. And Paris will probably not sell out either.

>>10504491
It’s rather popular in China. You often see flocks of Antoinette Princess coords in their teaparty photos.
>>
>>10504269
i actually like the print itself in black, but the collar ruins the whole look for me. it seems kind of cheap and shiny.
>>
>>10504504
So instead of selling a dress that was popular in America, they went with a dress that was popular in China for USA's 10th anniversary?
>>
>>10504384
Ugh I hope that shiny collar is a bad photo efect
>>
>>10504525
Lmao what even is popular in the US? Even here, it's mostly Chinese buying from the store. US lolitas don't buy brand from stores
>>
>>10504525
I don’t think they really know what’s popular in the US, they probably just release whatever was popular in the past. They don’t care about the SF store and it‘s customer base.

>>
>>10504553

>>
>>10504532
Well the customer base of AP USA is pretty clearly not Americans. They had to add other brands to the physical shop just to keep up with soaring SF rent.
>>
>>10504265
Why didn't they make it into a border print? Laziness?
It's so ugly in allover print. Especially black.
>>
>>10504591
I'm almost sure they just heard out the people crying about crosses on Charlotte's Bear, so they did a print in simialr aestethic with similar mascotes, yet turned it into all-over print to make it more different. It's actually really cool if my assumption is right, but idk if this version will beat CB in popularity.
>>
>>10504591
Because every AP release is an all-over print now. Border prints are like 1 out of 20 releases.

I hate it too. But as long as everything is polyester, I guess I wouldn't buy it anyways.
>>
>>10504580
Eh, I think it will sell out. Maybe not the black, but the I think the pink and sax will. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.

Can AP stop plastering their name over releases? They did it with the waist on that sailor/school OP, it looked bad then and it looks bad now. It's like the mid 00s when normies wanted Abercrombie or Hollister written over their entire outfit
>>
>>10504793
Are you new? Every brand has been doing that since early lolita
>>
Paris has started the Toys Museum reservation.
>>
>>10504793
Why would I buy brand if it didn't have the brand's name on it?

I prefer when they work the brand name into the actual print in a subtle way instead of just stamping it over the waist tie or the collar, but it needs to be somewhere. Otherwise why buy AP Sailor Dress #22 over some normie sailor dress that looks exactly the same?
>>
>>10504841
Lavendar is available too
>>
>>10504842
>Why would I buy brand if it didn't have the brand's name on it?

>>
>>10504793

I actually love the way lolita brands do it, unlike normie brands where the logo is designed once and then copypasted all over everything in the same way, lolita brands seem to redesign their logo every time there's a new release, and then work it into the designs.

Though I have to admit, the last few releases were kind meh. I really liked the AP logo for the chocolate stuff (Chocolate Rosette, Musee du Chocolat)

>>
>>10504966
Huh? Am I misremembering things horribly or didn't it have a happy ending? Also Another Day was very fun.
>>
>>10504848
Nah. Think about it.
Polyester dress number one. Cute design. Taobao lace. No brand name.$60.
Polyester dress number two. Taobao lace. No brand name. $350.

If you choose dress number two only because its "brand," you are the fool. JP brands get their fabric printed in china and use lace from chinese brands. Baby, Meta, and AP have all been "caught" using generic lace from taobao. So what sets them apart if not the brand name? If you can't tell something is from AP, what makes it better than taobao? Look at Little Witch. It got backlash for "looking like something from taobao." So what would make it worth the price tag if not the brand name? Its certainly not the dress quality. Its just materials from the same chinese factories that manufacture smaller brands' clothing. If you're going to pay for the name anyway, why not put it somewhere on the item? Be self aware and recognize the reason you pay for brand.
>>
>>10505002
Have you ever actually owned anything from AP? Or are you just real bad at spot the difference?
>>
>>10505002

>>
>>10505006
Yes? I have about 10 AP dresses.
>>10505007
Not new at all. I just used Little Witch as a recent example, I know they've been getting shit for it. And still people keep spending hundreds of dollars on their dresses right? For what reason? Brand name.
>>
>>10505011
>10 AP dresses
>Not new at all
Not sure if you're a troll. Your wardrobe is small and it sounds like you're not experienced enough to understand that brands have a defined "look." Most of the time, you can tell something is AP at a glace, without even knowing the name of the release - it just "looks" like AP.

While there's a small group of people that buy AP just because it's AP, most of us like the "look" or style of AP. You just sound like someone would would buy a Supreme brick for $1k because "omg it says Supreme!"

They could also be more into baby but as a babyfag I'm gonna ignore that option because I'd like to think we have more taste and intelligence than the "I own a ton of AP but also taobao and it's always the same quality except the names" people.

Even as someone who hates AP's newer poly stuff, I've owned poly dresses of theirs and bought sweet printed taobao pieces once or twice before I knew better and the quality difference is obvious.
>>
>>10505027
why would you do this to yourself though, when you can get superior brand items
>>
>>10505011
Just because some brain dead newbies shat on lw's quality on lolita updates days before the jp release and weeks before people in the west received theirs, doesn't mean that it got "shit" for it by the community as a whole. If you weren't so painfully new you would've recognized that lw uses the sparkly dot chiffon which is definitely the nicest poly that ap has.

Forming your opinion based on cgl shitposts makes you about as brain dead as them too.

I have two cuts of Little Witch, and the sparkly dot chiffon is beautiful, but extremely scratchy and fragile. I'm not sure why you think someone having a different opinion of you means that they've never touched the thing you're talking about.

Think clearly about this. I have an example. Picture this in your head. Angelic Pretty's heart shaped pleather bag with the logo on the front of it. OR a cheaper taobao bag made three years earlier, for 1/4 the price, with no brand name on it. Which one are you going to buy? Personally, I'd love to have the AP one. But is it because the quality of the AP pleather is magically better? No. It's because I want the branding.

The only thing that wasn't revealed previously to look forward to seems to be this Milky Bear bag; it's little eyes and fuzziness are so cute!
>>
>>10505218
this coat and bag are the only things I kinda sorta like, and even then, why is AP going so hard with milky bear when shyness bear. and lyrical bunny are way more cute and more established? Also why no love for past characters like milky-chan or vanilla-chan?

would be cool if next big AP anniversary, they released a cute dress feat. past mascots like that, it seems a shame to just leave all of them in limbo when they're all very popular + people have been begging for newer stuff of them for years now
>>
>>10505232

The taobao one cause I like their sturdiness much more. I only make exceptions for ap if it's a more iconic design or made of enamel pu.
>>
>>10505186
Maybe they will make more of sweet prints made of cotton since melody toys Sold out
>>
>>10505372
They're not you fool,
>>10505375
Is right, which is why were seeing larger sizes with cuts meant for smaller girls. If AP was really catering to Americans, then cotton, low waist dresses would be everywhere.

Just making the sizes larger doesn't mean that they're catering to fattys. Theres a lot more than needs to go on in order for that to happen
>>
>>10505186
is that actually what is wanted, though? /cgl/ posters are not AP's target demographic
>>
>>10505421
The trend toward lager sizing has been happening for years and years. The cutoff for bust used to be 86-88 for Baby for example, but many are starting at this size. The trend in the Asian market has been shifting for 5+ years?

Just imo, the old more feminine silhouettes looked better vs the essentially bag waist look on the recent AP images in ITT. It’s strange to see lolita clothing trending towards the “oversized” style.
>>
>>10504588
The problem is that they put the store in the wrong place. When the store opened, all the AP brandwhores were in LA. AP even wanted to open up a store on Melrose, which probably would have done well because you'd get randos walking in in addition to actual lolitas. But because the people who were buying the rights to the store were in SF, they pushed them to put it there. AP USA is essentially a franchise store, which explains why AP doesn't give much of a shit. They're not making nearly as much money there.
And before you bring up Paris, Europeans spend more than Americans, and the owner of AP wasn't shy about saying so.
>>
>>10505573
I’d kill for an AP store on Melrose.
>>
>>10505460
>is that actually what is wanted, though? /cgl/ posters are not AP's target demographic

Right? It's so funny how all the bitchy fat poorfags on here think that they're the center of the AP universe when they probably sell upwards of 50% of their merch to China, where they prefer polyester due to the extreme heat in the major cities. Plus Chinese lolitas don't bitch about the price and instead relish the opportunity to purchase these polyester status symbols, hence the shift to AP logos plastered all over everything. So yeah, their not atering to Americans at all, because we're likely a sliver of their market and the way they treat the SF store makes that very clear. If we were really a big share, they would invest more in the store like they have in Shanghai and Chengdu
>>
>>10505590
Polyester is worse in the heat because it traps heat and sweat, shut up larper
>>
>>10505592
I'm speaking from tropical experience anon. Cotton "releasing sweat" only counts for shit if you're not already living in an area with 90% humidity dipshit. It's pretty basic principles of equilibrium.
Polyester allows the breeze to at least flow and do you some good. Why tf do you think nearly all sports fabrics and hot weather gear is made from polyester ?
>>
>>10505590
Chinese lolitas probably have non weather related reasons to prefer polyester anon.

Every cotton AP dress from the last 20 years has poly lining, so this is a moot point anon
>>
>>10505590
>>10505592
AP has stated repeatedly that Japanese lolitas prefer polyester, so they switched over to mostly polyester
Sure AP will throw China a bone, but Japanese lolitas are always going to be AP's number 1 customers that they cater to
>>
>>10505464
>>10505372

Just to add.

There's a census somewhere out there that says Japanese girls are getting bigger -- not fatter, but generally today's generation has access to better nutrition so they have slightly bigger bone structures, are taller and wider (still skinny, because if you live in Asian society the pressure to not be fat is on a whole other level). They're still generally smaller and shorter than western girls, just getting slightly bigger generation by generation, so it makes sense the clothes are getting slightly bigger to match the main population.

Most of the brands just seem to make some dresses with shirring and adjustable shoulder straps as a nod towards the western market. We seem to be some sort of "oh by the way, this will fit you too" kind of market.
>>
>>10505595
Why do you expect AP polyester to be as breathable as a weave as sportswear is. You clearly haven't worn it.
>>
>>10505634
Cant convince retards that there’s a reason why people prefer poly I guess. What, do you think it’s all some conspiracy to save ap a few bucks? I live in a tropic as hell environment, and while I love the quality of the printed Burberry, the cotton poly lined combo is hot as hell and because humidity is crazy nothing breathes anyways so yes I do prefer having a poly dress that is lighter weight, and less suffocating. Tokyo, Singapore, and much of Southeast Asia is also crazy humid and hot so I assume they’d prefer it too. Plus with all the sweating it’s lower maintenance and much easier to clean.

If the majority of people really preferred cotton guess what? They’d make them cotton and cash in. But it’s just not the case.
>>
>>10505631
To be fair they definitely are getting fatter and even have a trend of specialty plus size stores popping up. Now that Western style foods are super common obesity and weight problems are really on the rise. The government actually requires yearly measurements and weigh ins lol so they track in nearly real time.
>>
>>10505629
I think one reason japanese lolitas prefer poly over cotton because hang drying a cotton dress here is a nightmare. you can wash and dry a poly dress pretty easy, but cotton takes forever, and the ironing is annoying as well.
>>
>>10505649
Idk about this being a Japan thing just because hang-drying is the standard in most of the world outside the USA?

But yeah hang-drying anything heavyweight is hell if you're in Japan. When it's super humid out it literally doesn't dry unless you hang it inside and then you've got giant dresses dripping everywhere.

Another theory I've had is about space conservation. Even the largest apartments in Tokyo and East Asia tend to be super small by western standards, and not really great for storing the thicker cotton dresses with more rigid built in pettis.
>>
>>10505653
I don't think anon thinks it's a Japan only thing, just that brands only are aware of Japanese washing habits. Also I don't think that the size makes much difference.
>>
>>10505654
The size difference can be pretty significant. I separate my wardrobe because I use a de-humidifier in my closet and my 7 cotton dresses take more space than my 18 polyester pieces. I think this might have more to do with the volume of the built-in petti though since recent releases don't usually have anything.
>>
>>10505002
old school style lolita's don't exist.
lolita isn't just printed poly dresses retard.
>>
>>10505658
I'm dumb, can you eli5 why one would use a dehumidifier in their closet?
>>
>>10505663
nayrt but probably to keep away musty smell
>>
>>10505663
NTA but if you live in a place with humidity, it prevents mold and mildew from growing in your closet. It grows more easily in dark places so closets can be dangerous in humid environments, but if the air is sweaty enough it can grow anywhere. Using a dehumidifier helps keep mold and mildew at bay.

Can you explain what eli5 means? Or was that a typo?
>>
>>10505665
nayrt but eli5 means 'explain like I'm 5'

I also have a dehumidifier to keep my clothes dry. It's horribly humid where I live year round. In the winter you can see the condensation on the walls when it's cold and the mildew is terrible everywhere.

Cotton is beautiful but there's a lot of reasons people in this kind of climate prefer poly.
>>
>>10505647
>>10505649
>>10505653
The more adult look of polyester, space conservation, and ease of care are all reasons why they switch to mainly poly because the Japanese customer clientele are aging up with lots of dresses and not a lot of storage space, they want something easier to wear, easier to take care of, easier to store. They've said this much themselves. The 20 people on this board spamming "AP looks like taobao I want cotton 2010 sweet", AP does not give a shit about them, they were never trying to get those people's money in the first place
>>
>>10505578
I miss the baby store in NYC
>>
>>10505648

Actually it wouldn't be the first time someone started a plus-size line -- at the very least there was plumprino, and h.Naoto had a Juliet line off the top of my head, and both shut down eventually. It seems to be something they pick up to see if they can make money with, and then drop it when there's not enough fat girls buying.

Most of the population still isn't as wide as western fatties get, their frames are still pretty smallish so even when they're fat they're mostly American M-size rather than 4XL size.
>>
I know this belongs in the price check thread, but I don’t get proper answers there.
What’s the going rate for the Sugar Dream Dome jsk in any color? Any chances/hints for a rerelease? It seems sought after and expensive, but I never see anyone talking about it or asking for a rerelease.
>>
>>10505708
no less than £600
>>
>>10505708

It needs to be popular with their main markets for a re-release, ie- Japanese and/or Chinese lolitas. So western prices barely have any effect on whether there'll be a re-release or not.
>>
>>10505711
I‘ve been looking for it on xianyu as well though and aside from the special sets there are only WTBs for it (for the JSK and OP), which is why I think a rerelease is long overdue. It’s sought after in every single market.
>>
>>10505667
>there's a lot of reasons people in this kind of climate prefer poly.
My climate isn't as hot, but it is humid. I sweat immediately in poly blouses so I don't get it. Poly also tends to hold onto any smells. I can't even wear blouses with poly sleeves. I can't even imagine wearing an OP in humid and hot weather.
>>
>>10505736
Really? I find poly is so much easier to clean and I spend most of my time in the armpit of florida
>>
>>10505736
samefag, but maybe you have sensitive skin or something? I don't find poly to be hot, but I do sweat and overheat like crazy with even the slightest amounts of wool and it turns out I'm allergic.
>>
>>10503555
Since AP USA anniversary was lackluster. I'm anticipating on the Paris Tea Party event 2021. I hope the event is online again (I missed this year's).
>>
>>10505745
>>10505747
I don't believe I have sensitive skin. I've never had any reactions wearing it, just overheating when I do. I don't have any allergies so it seems unlikely. It seems like I don't get enough air permeability to keep cool. I've tried different materials people suggest, but always to the same results.

I get that it's "easier" to clean, but then I need a filter on my washing machine that needs cleaning.
>>
>>10505736
Where I am it's hot (38C+ much of the year) and humid/rainy so it doesn't matter whether it's poly or cotton, you sweat like a pig and soak through whatever you're wearing. And in that situation it matters more that you can clean it easily, and that it will hold it's shape and look good regardless of what the weather is.

I don't have strong b.o. so I've never had an issue with poly holding onto odors. If anything the opposite, because it's much easier to clean.
>>
>>10505747
Lmao I'm the opposite. I love light wool when it's hot. It keeps me cool because I don't feel the sweat, and doesn't smell. With poly, I feel sweat moving, and it's anxiety inducing. I become super sensitive to smell, and think I reek in it.

With cotton you can use sweat protectors and white shirts underneath to prevent the blouse from getting sweaty, but poly is sheer and you'll see any undergarments you wear underneath.
>>
>>10505798
What the fuck anon
>>
>>10503529
Cool so it’ll smell like absolutely nothing after 20 minutes.
>>
>>10505767
I see. I don't think I could tolerate such a climate, I hate feeling sticky. Cotton allows it to evaporate before it gets moist where I live.

I don't have strong bo either, it's more the organisms living in the plastisphere. You can clean it, but you can't always get rid of those microorganisms.
>>
>>10505805
Wool is naturally a moisture wick and antibacterial material. Look it up. Poly attracts bacteria that love sweat. Cotton is ideal for me because it goes with lolita and I don't end up feeling gross in it.
>>
>>10505736
>>10505760

nayrt. I have cotton and poly from both taobao and brand.

In particular some poly blouses have looser weaves so the air passes through them more easily. That would make the difference between "breathable" poly and living in a plastic bag. Just wanted to mention that this could be the difference between someone finding poly to be impossible or not because it'd depend on exactly which poly items they own.

For humid, hot weather (I live in a subtopical country), rather than the polyester items being easy to clean, every polyester AP dress I've owned is far lighter than their previous cotton dresses. I can't stand being hot and sticky all day either (I only lolita if there's aircon available), but if you're gonna be hot and sticky, at least it helps if you don't also feel like you're carrying a dress that weighs a tonne vs a lighter dress.
>>
Compared my 2015 Wrapping Heart jsk with the mto kc, and there is clearly differences in color and the new print looks a bit bigger and blurry. Nothing major and looks the same enough though

It's on kei not LM, the title never says the name "British Bear", you can't visibly see the "AP" purple tag on the back of the dress next to the zipper nor does the seller have a picture of it, and like you pointed out the seller lists size as S/M. All of these are giant red flags that basically = it is fake
>>
>>10506526
There's different types of polyester as there's different types of cotton. AP does not use sportswear polyester. Try again

>>
>>10507134
It’s ironic you say this considering how many anons ask how they get over their spending habits every time theres a new release.
There’s several people in my old comm in the US who are actually $3k+ in debt, I wasn’t making that shit up. They buy full sets and wear them with the tags still on. They also make minimum wage and continue to spend a shit ton on their wardrobes. Then cry that they can’t afford healthcare and rent so they make an onlyfans to sell their nudes for more burando and shit rather than taking care of their actual needs.
If only people knew how to manage their money. But if they did, they would be called poorfags :^)

>>
>>10507160
Someone who wasn't poor would be able to manage their money and also own more than 10 dresses lmao
>>
>>10507163
Claiming to live in Japan is a frequent weeb tactic to sound more knowledgeable when called out on their bullshit opinions, but in reality they and you know next to nothing and your opinion on brand is irrelevant if you don't know them/don't own very many pieces.
>>
>>10507160
I mean, just because you know a few people with retarded spending habits and bad jobs doesn't mean everybody's like that. It applies to many hobbies, not just lolita. If you check the stupid questions threads there are plenty of lolitas with large wardrobes who work high paying jobs
>>
>>10507164
Multiple anons claim to buy 3-5 main pieces a month. How is that reasonable?
>>10507165
so if i don't buy every print, I’m poor? Why would i buy ugly prints that I don’t like?
>>10507167

I saw those replies. Thank you for bringing up a good point rather than calling me poor for not wanting to overspend/buy dresses I don’t want.
>>
>>10507164
>>
>>10507170
3-5 pieces a month isn't unreasonable if you can afford it. Implying buying a lot makes someone a shopping addict or can't be reasonable makes it sound like your income is low or you're being defensive because you're insecure about your income.
>>
>>10507171
A few cgl posts don't make the whole community poor. Cgl is not a good way to measure the behavior of the community at large, and you specifically mentioned girls you knew in your comm, not someone on anon whining about their spending issues.
>>
>>10507043
I also own multiple bears from different releases and I can safely say the ones with solid color ribbons are the nicest quality. They probably changed manufacturers or since they are ordering in higher quantities it is affecting the quality.

That is just for the bigger size though, the smaller ones are about the same overall.
>>
>>10507159
Sure, Jan. Totally not back-pedalling.
>>
>>10507170
You don’t get it, do you?
You not buying many main pieces means your experience with brand is very small and your opinion is only based on things you did not experience yourself. And it doesn’t matter if it’s because you’re so good with money or just poor.
Second, try to fathom for a second that many lolitas can easily afford new dresses a few times a year and still live very comfortably. Just imagine: people who don’t do well usually complain, while those who don’t keep their finances private. I wouldn’t want my comm to know how much my husband and I earn either.
Also, US poorfaggory is not the standard for the whole western community.
>>
>>10507170
if you live in tokyo you'd have more than 10 dresses.
>>
>>10507170
You living in Tokyo doesn’t make you an expert for brands. Being a regular customer is what makes you knowledgeable about them. Decades of research mean shit if we‘re talking about the quality of AP in current years.
Actually, you living in Tokyo probably means you don’t even have place for more than 10 dresses and the way working culture is, you‘re not earning that much compared to lolitas in the west in the same profession(from a european perspective). It’s no secret living in Japan has many set-backs.
>>
>>10507170

If you live in Tokyo just "rent" from closet child. Buy secondhand from them. Wear a few times. Sell it back to them. Easy to go through more than 10 dresses in 6 years or whatever the figure was.
>>
>>10507172
>Implying buying a lot makes someone a shopping addict or can't be reasonable

>>10507185

This is the funniest post I've read in a while. Fucking lost it at "my Shinjuku idol friend" - This really sounds like a larp.
You're getting treated like a retard because you're acting like a retard. Your one or two comm members that are bad at managing money + a handful of "definitely 100% true" posts on /cgl/ (because no one lies on the internet, right) does not = we're all shopping addicts that are bad at personal finance. There's tons of us in STEM, many successful lolitas in high positions in marketing, finance, or running our own businesses, and with husbands/SOs who are also well-off. Those that were interested in lolita while they were in high school are now adults with BAs or Masters degrees, with well-paying careers.

Just because there's loud teens or college students posting about (potentially nor even real) addictions/debts, doesn't mean the community at large is bad with money.

Also, saying your friend is an idol is more an insult than a compliment. You should be aware of the idol industry.

honestly, I'm completely opposite. I have a lot of pieces that I've never worn because it's a little excuses to do and I don't like wearing lolita casually. From this point it makes much more sense because I could enjoy it more often than lolita. Also, this bag looks classy and presents you as a respectable member of society. Lolita turns you into a target.

>>
>>10507226
Also double and classic flaps aren't worth it. They're mass produced these days and the quality is not the same as 5+ years ago. The zipper inside is some cheap ykk zipper and they don't even stamp the left C anymore. Double flaps are 5900 for the small/medium size and that's without tax rates of 10% in California lol. Not worth imo unless you're ballin out of control and can regularly spend thousands of dollars on designer. Even a modest earner of a 100k salary shouldn't be buying luxuries like that unless it's a treat or they already own property and have a good amount of savings, but that's just me being frugal I guess?
>>
>>10507223
Idk about you, but I would constantly have to justify my decision to buy this bag, because it’s seen as braggy here (even by people who spend way more on travels, bikes and cars, so it‘s not the money). Of course lolitas are targets, but when did we really care about this? Even if I started luxury fashion, I‘d probably be a target, because I‘d be going to wear all pink like some other luxury instagrammers.
>>
>>10507218
You're assuming I'm wearing some normie shit though. Where would shit like this match with lolita? It'd look stupid. At least post VW or something.
>>
>>10507229
Naryt you might be able to match a mini flap/double flap with some coord because of the gold or silver hardware, but overall that specific type of bag is ill suited for lolita coords unless you throw a bow or whatever on it
>>
>>10507216
You're acting like being an idol and working in a cafe is some dream job, when in real life she's making like 800 yen an hour at the cafe and is in a detestable industry with no career protection as an idol. She's completely disposable and easily replaceable at either job. These are not the career moves that spark envy from anyone that isn't a 16 year old weeb.
>>
>>10507226
>>10507227
I meant in a quarter, like 5pc x $300 each = $1500, which means $4500 in three month, and that seems like a price of classic flap second hand.
>>
>>10507230
but why would I buy expensive normie designer bags and then struggle to match them with lolita, instead of buying... lolita purses that match my wardrobe.
>>
>>10507222
Yes I’ve traveled but not lived in other countries so I don’t have experience in life there. I enjoy my life here considering I don’t have to worry about shipping and bloodbaths if I’m interested in a release.
I don’t know much about the idol industry since I’m not one and not interested in idols/becoming one. She promotes her idol group often so I wasn’t aware it was an insult to call her an idol.

ifwinterends is that you??
>>
>>10507237
What?
>>
>>10507236
In this case your american education failed you. I‘ve lived in Germany, Netherlands and Denmark and my husband and I decided to decline his job offers from Japan, because quality of life would be worse in every aspect we could think of, aside from having merchandise and lolita around us (which we can afford so much easier with our current jobs). Never had problems with getting stuff or shipping, because I have several friends in Japan as personal shoppers.
Also, idol industry is very sad, maybe talk with your friend some more.
>>
>>10507232
For non lolita for sure it's worth it. The style of those two bags is timeless and black matches everything. Also double flaps hold their value and even sell for more so it's a pretty good investment piece.

As for lolita, I prefer kate spade, VW, coach and some other luxury brands as they have more of a lolita aesthetic in a lot of their bags. VM and Kate Spade in particular; real leather is also preferable to shit pleather that will peel and flake eventually.

>>10507170
>so if i don't buy every print, I’m poor? Why would i buy ugly prints that I don’t like?
Newfag confirmed. Non-print dresses exist. Larp harder.
>>
>>10507236
Dumbass thinks every English speaker here must be American or live in the US. You know Europe exists, right? And many other people know more than one language
>>
>>10507236
>I don't know much about the idol industry

wow you can put that right next to Lolita in the "things I pretend to be knowledgeable about on /cgl/ but in actuality I don't know shit" folder of your brain.
>>
>>10507238
Still petty and bitter as fuck I see. Somehow I'm not surprised, you don't grow out of that.

I can't believe that some people think being a glorified waitress is a "dream job"

I got my bear in the mail and its defective? WTF? Would AP usa give me a refund on this? I never have this problem before

Love standing on my feet not being allowed to sit while I work in the food service industry making minimum wage while I'm berated by both customers and coworkers with no job security or protection, learning 0 skills to help me climb the career ladder, totes dream job material guize!!
>>
>>10507272
Right? The only skills you would learn is patience and how to secretly create a union
>>
>>10507273
Inb4 OP comes back with some rose-tinted glasses bullshit of "it's not like that in Japan sweaty :^)))" as if rude customers and pitiful minimum wages in food service aren't universal
>>
>>10507276
Not to mention that since it's a "otaku cafe", you get the added pleasure of dealing with autistic nerds. Sounds like hell
>>
>>10507278
gross foreign nerds even. the kind of westerners who visit those places make me shudder.

Anon, I don't understand why some anons are sounding jealous rn but this is the way I live too. It means we were raised right and we're not addicted to shopping. no worries.
>>
>>10507319
Ain‘t the best fashion to be frugal. Are also jelly of people can just afford this lifestyle and still have savings?
>>
>>10507323
A lot of people have a hate boner against people who choose to have small wardrobes. If you are going to blow that much money on a fashion, you might as well do it on things that will actually be worn and appreciated. I'd love to be rich, but I don't see myself putting that money into lolita.
>>
>>10507350
I agree. I can afford a lot of dresses among other luxury goods, but I don't wear most of them. It's really stressful having so much stuff so I stared selling many years back.
>>
>>10507350
>>10507354
It’s called priorities and it‘d be nice if you‘d stop having a hate-boner for people who actually like to spend money on lolita, just because you don‘t.
>>
>>10507356
This, if you read up the original convo isn't even shitting on people with small wardrobes. the point is that someone with 10 dresses doesn't have much to go off in judging lolita quality
>>
>>10507319
why would anyone be jealous at the fact you have less dresses. Think about it.
>It means we were raised right and we're not addicted to shopping
why do you think people that can afford to buy more than you must have shopping additions instead of maybe, just maybe, they make more money than you. why is this an unfathomable concept.

Once I get my BA next year, starting salary at my job will be 75-80k. If I keep living the same exact way I'm living now, that would be over 5k to spend on lolita every month if I truly wanted to. Do you understand how stupid the mentality of "if someone buys more of something than me, they must have issues"

>>10507350
>If you are going to blow that much money on a fashion, you might as well do it on things that will actually be worn and appreciated.
this might blow your fucking mind but some of us that buy lolita more than you do actually wear it more than you do, too
>>
>>10507170
I make 60k USD and have no expenses besides my car and apt. I can buy literally whatever release I want and will be able to put a huge downpayment on a house with my savings in a few years, if not pay one off completely and retire early in 10 yrs

This is a luxury hobby and you sound like you work at McDonalds and can't fathom other women being more successful than you are.

Nobody cares if you have a small wardrobe, at all. Lots of girls have small wardrobes for a lot of different reasons. We have entire threads dedicated to small wardrobes all the time. But you come off like a salty poorfag when you act like anyone with a large wardrobe has massive debt, a shopping addiction, or never wears their pieces.

Lots of girls wear their pieces more often than you apparently do. There's a lot more daily lolitas than you seem to think, and there's a fuckton of us who wear burando every day even if we aren't styling it in a full lolita coord.

And lots of girls make more money and/or have more disposable income than you. I make enough that I have over $100k/year in disposable income. That could buy a hell of a lot of new releases if I wanted it to. And I know a couple girls in the fashion who are literally multi-millionaires.

>>10507371
>Once I get my BA next year, starting salary at my job will be 75-80k
Not arguing against any of your points, but you're be surprised how underpaid you can be at your first job. Also,
>coronavirus
Unless you're going into a medical/STEM field, good luck. When you graduate, you'll be fighting against millions of people who lost their jobs, plus everyone who has already graduated and is fighting to get a job. A lot of these people are skilled, educated workers. 2021 is going to be one of the worst years for the job market.

Alternatively maybe that means secondhand lolita will get cheaper.
>>
>>10507350

Ok, but what if, sit yourself down in case you faint, we do wear our large wardrobes?

The judgment on both sides is high key hilarious though, I'll admit that.
>>
>>10507350
I have never seen anyone get shat on for having a small wardrobe, only a shitty one
>>
>>10507396
What does any of this shit you are saying matter or relevant to the conversation? My point was that people, many people, can comfortably afford to buy lolita without going into shopping addiction-fueled credit card debt.
>>
>>10507374
Where do you live? Even a shitty apartment in CA is 500k+ and it won't even be modern.
>>
>>10507203
>>10507223

Look, I'm trying to be completely honest here.

If a normie bag makes you happier than lolita dresses, then this probably isn't the right hobby for you. In fact, I can't even figure out why you own so many dresses if you don't wear them, need an excuse to wear them, and then proceed to say some random normie stuff is better because it's more expensive.

Seriously, with no bad feelings, you should just sell off your lolita closet, buy the handbag of your dreams and go live your life. It's too short to spend it on a hobby where you buy dresses you don't wear while telling everyone about the dream handbag you didn't buy instead of those dresses.
