Is 34 too old to wear nanchatte?
>>

no, but it's too old to give a shit.

I think it's not too different from people who continue to wear their college logo sweatshirts and caps after they have graduated.
>>
>>10498872
No, but.

I have repeatedly told people here to just wear what they want and what makes them happy. And I think it's still true. I didn't really get into nanchatte until I was 25, and then really ramped up my wardrobe at 29. But I just had my second kid and gained a bunch of weight and now all these insecurities are actually starting to get to me. For now none of my clothes fit me but as I lose weight over the next 6-12 months, what then? Where do I wear it, and what point should I I care about normies think? The ideal answer should be "never" but it still bothers me. I guess one solution would be to pick more mature looking styles or integrate nanchatte pieces in with more normie clothes. I think I have plenty more use left out of my nanchatte things.

Sorry for the blog there. To kinda bring it back and really answer your question, I think that depends entirely on you. Yes it is a youthful style but I think you can adapt it in a way that suits your personal style, your body, and your face (as applicable). If you like the clothes I think you should go ahead and buy them. Be a kawaii old lady if need be, who cares.

nanchatte is really only one degree away from western preppy style
if you're feeling self conscious about your age, instead of sailor collars and short pleated skirts go for things like blazers and cardigans and longer plaid skirts, or even plaid pants.

I would just avoid super mini skirts and focus more work casual oriented blazers and jackets

keep things fitted but not tight, avoid cheap looking items, and you shouldn't run into any issues

pic related for general ideas for shape and sillouettes, obviously these aren't quite "nanchatte", so jazz it up in the details and accessories
loose sweater vests in particular are coming in on the normie trends for winter

there are was to make nanchatte more "mature" looking without throwing it out entirely
>>

Sauce on the top right vest? That's so cute
>>
Do you think navy loafers could work? Or should I just stick to black, brown, burgundy?
>>
>>10504774
Why wouldn't they? I have a pair and wear them all the time. If you wear burgundy, navy is a lot easier to coordinate.
>>
>>10498116
Not sure why everyone wants to dress up in the uniforms of literal children. Its kind of weird. OTT sweet is more respectable than this
>>
>>10504862
ok
>>
>>10504862
Its about the themes and youthful spirit, it doesn't have anything to do with wanting to look like a child.
>>
Stop replying to bait. Why does CGL fall for this every time.
>>
>>10504814
OK, good to know. I was just wondering 'cause I only really see black and brown. Burgundy's not too hard either, it's almost brown.
>>
>>10504862
Bro who cares?

I've never gotten any weird gross comments while wearing nanchette, meanwhile I've had gross ass old men ask me if I'm looking for a daddy while wearing AP. So you can fuck off with your normie attitude towards cute clothing.
>>
I don't know if you've all seen this already, but I think this DoCoMo promo video really captured the nostalgia aspect of nanchatte

Also, no fucks given honestly. I'm into ddlg anyway. At least my bf is my age so it's not too sus. It was probably way more obvious when I was seeing dudes older than my dad.
>>

This is cute, I love that her bag straps are also red. Is there a brand that does changable bag straps?

As someone who actually likes OTT sweet, you are completely wrong about that.

Stay mad. I'm not open about my kink off anon so nobody would ever know, unless they somehow found my sex work socials and recognized me/my room and tied it to my EGL socials.

Which is how it should be. The kinksters that tie the fashion and their kink together, openly, and talk about their kink off anon in spaces where minors could be present, that's barf material and just makes us all (kinksters and lolitas) look bad.

honestly who gives a shit? like damn almost every thread is inescapable from the "don't do ddlg" shit.

i am once again asking... who genuinely gives this much of a fuck about it? Its a damn kink. Okay. So what? As long as the people are of age, who gives a single fuck whether it presents that kind of image?

damn. mind your own business. let people wear their damn clothes. It doesnt fucking matter is2g i'm tired of ddlg being brought up in so many damn threads y'all asses are more focused on it than actual littles holy shit

Does anyone have any recs for the cute bow ties, swearters/coats and socks?

I've been trying to find black loose socks in 180CM forever. I can find them in up to 120 but only white ones go up to 180.

What kind of price range are you looking at? The Japanese brands like eastboy, conomi, lucypop, kuri-ori have nice things, but would be pricier than most of the Taobao brands!
>>
>>10507267
Do you have examples of good Taobao brands? NTAYRT but I want to buy a good quality winter seifuku but a lot look cheap but I'm not willing to spent £200
>>
>>10507267
Looking for any price range between high and low. So Both japanese brands and taobao. No real price range in mind, wanna get a good look at what is available first.
>>
>>10505827
Same here, I always feel awkward mixing my tie and skirt designs though, even seeing how good it looks on others.
>>
>>10507280
>>10507291

梗豆KYOUKO制服馆 is a fairly good store to start with on Taobao. Their prices are reasonable and they have a pretty big range from western to sailor styles. They also have an ongoing collaboration with Sanrio if you're into that.

One thing to note when buying from Taobao is to check whether the item is "in stock" or on preorder. If it's on preorder the price could be the down payment and you'll be expected to pay off the rest at a later date.
>>
Where do you where nanchatte? I'm interested in the fashion but I'm concerned about people thinking I'm actually in high school. How does this work out in the west?
>>
>>10509095
I just wear it as regular clothes desu, Like shopping, going to a café, even for an outing like a museum or an amusement park.
I haven't really had anyone think its an actual uniform, my mom has commented on how it "reminds her of a british school uniform" but most people just seem to think its a preppy style. I wouldn't wear it to a workplace tho, but my job has a uniform so I don't have the chance anyways.
>>
Does anyone have the link for the discord server?
>>
>>10509095
If you don't wear a blazer, it doesn't look that much like a school uniform.
>>
>>10505757
Drop dead, holy shit no one cares you're a whore
>>
>>10509095
I wear it casually, when I wore it in high school/college I usually just got compliments for it being "navy themed" (sailor collar) or preppy. It's my go-to summer/fall style and few people care
>>
>>10509555

Is there a JFashion brand that mixes goth/punk with Nanchette? Nothing OTT, just slightly alternative. In fact I'll try any brand that isn't lolita if anyone knows any.
>>
>>10519175
I mean, bodyline has some punky looking things that could work.

Guy here, my biggest problem is finding sweater vests that show off the blade of my tie more. Also I drift towards plain colors so everyone thinks I'm just wearing business casual anyways.

this thread would be much more interesting if we posted our coords. here is mine, forgive me for not having a proper nanchatte bag or shoes but will update this coord when the respective items arrive. this is an h&m blazer with the front button replaced with a more "school looking" button.

Agreed. Dark Academia is having a moment in the west right now. So it's a good time to wear that shit.
>>
>>10529599
I really like the dark academia look - it's a good name for how I dress when I'm not in lolita but I find the subculture super-cringe. Hopefully it'll mean more tweed and tartan will be sold by more mainstream brands.
>>
>>10529608
Are you me, anon? I’ve worn this style when not in lolita since college. I always got my stuff from thrift stores, but I noticed places like Uniqlo are selling nice wool tweed skirts and pants now.
>>
>>10529608
>>10529640
same but also worth mentioning the “academia” style has always been in existence and every so often has a resurgence in main stream fashion. without getting too much into /fa/ territory preppy/ university school looks where even big name fast fashion brands make stuff that can be worn as nanchatte have been made. pic related, before i knew nanchatte was a thing i was buying stuff like this when i was younger.
>>
>>10529640
>>10529687
AYRT, I'm from a famous UK university town and am now an academic myself so I've also always been surrounded by the battered-tweed-and-tartan look. When I go home it's great to pop into the second-hand shops as I usually buy up pre-1970s school blazers and boating jackets. This is why I was glad when I first found out about "dark academia" but as I said earlier I do find it a bit cringey. I love nanchatte and wish to combine it for my relaxed looks when I'm not in lolita. Even in lolita I find my style slowly turning into a more "tweedy-otome" look.
>>10505803
This is my favourite image in the thread. I'd love to trot about my city in a more winter style outfit and a big woollen scarf

hehe thank u <3 <3
also i am that same anon who posted the bodyline haul.. which arrived super fast!! the 30 dollar shipping is totally worth it. a few things about the items

the cardigans are a heavy sturdy knit much better than uniqlo's paper thin cardigans plus there's functioning pockets. gives your body a perfect boxy silhouette while still being slimming.

the vest is quite thin, feels delicate. i guess theres a reason it was only 1100 yen. But the silhouette is the correct boxy shape when put on which is important.

bows are detailed and have adjustable length. keep their shape very well.

loafers are cute .. but tight!! luckily i dont have potato feet lol or else i dont think i couldve got them on. go up a size if you have wide feet is my advice.

for a starter nanchatte wardrobe bodyline is pretty decent! waaaaaaaayyy more affordable than say, conomi.

when i have decent lighting in my room (need sunlight for clear pics) ill post a vest coord 4 u anon!
>>
>>10531047
Uniqlo women's cardigans don't work for nanchatte but you could check out Uniqlo men's cardigans! There is one that is 100% wool, it is extremely sturdy and warm and the shape works for nanchatte. Unfortunately, being men's cardigans they don't have cute colours, but the black, gray, and navy ones are still suitable.
>>
>>10498872
Nanchatte isn't too far off from my office clothes, except I wear a solid color pleated skirt instead of plaid. I've had people ask if it was a school uniform before. I don't see why it isn't suitable for older women.
>>
>>10531047
Ooh I’d love to see the cardigans on if you have the chance!
>>
always been terrified to ask a gf to wear this ..much to my regret..is 44 too old,I don't want put on a register!
>>
Is there a nanchatte brand thats slightly more lolita? Like heart shaped pockets on a duffel coat or a strawberry embroidered somewhere. I know milk has some stuff like that, but they usually take it too far and put strawberries on the whole dang thing.
Maybe i have to just get normal stuff and add a strawberry myself?
>>
>>10538751
why don't you wear it yourself scrote
