guess the doomers were right about no cons in 2021 either.
what are you talking about? germany already had it's first large convention this year.
>>10481746>cries in american
>>10481748There's one scheduled for this Saturday. Granted, in South Dakota, but it's enough to encourage me some. I would THINK if they cancelled, the website or Twitter page would have announced by now.
>>10481759is it a big one though? I've seen some tiny cons still go forward around me.
>>10481760Considering the area, I doubt it. At this point, I'm desperate enough that I'd be happy if even a small con like 2,000 miles away from me happens. I haven't actually heard of any others going through, though. The closest thing I found was something called Knoxville Anime Day, from a little under a month ago.
>>10481767>The closest thing I found was something called Knoxville Anime Day, from a little under a month ago.Trust me, thats not even worth driving 10 miles for under normal conditions. There was a huntsville anime day hosted by the same people here last week that i didn't bother going to because of how dead it was last year. no one I knew wanted to go either.
>>10481769Well that's...unfortunate. Is that what you're referring to when you say something "tiny" went through though? Wondering because I stumbled across a con right before lockdown that I would not even be willing to return to now. We're talking about maybe a few dozen people tops, three booths selling things, two panels for the whole day and no guests.
A very stupid decision not holding it in 2021, that con is good long as dead it will not hold up next year.
>>10481770yes. less than 500 people.
>>10481723And Miku Expo is now actually cancelled, not postponed.
>>10481842There's next year anyway.
>>10481848It's proper cancelled now, not postponed.
>>10481864>>10481842>Bought tickets to my first Miku concert for my best friend and I. It was going to be the week of her birthday. It was scheduled like three weeks after lockdown was initiated. We could've gone if fate gave us another month.I can't cope, lads.
>>10481866Do it by socially distancing yourself from anime, ask for advice on how to give up on a hobby.
>>10481873>ask for advice on how to give up on a hobby.No.
>>10481878Cons aren't coming back and if you are desperate to maintain your con life with virtual cons, well I say it's better to save the money for something useful...like helping you cover living cost with money that would have been wasted on a dying hobby.
>>10481889Why such being an debbie downer huh?
>>10481893Because I am tired of being hurt over and over again over the loss of cons, a social life and shitty working conditions that seems to get more and more stuffy. I enjoy con life because it gave me a social life to get behind and a mean to connect to people. By thanks to Covid it's all over.
>>10481873Never. Miss Hatsune Miku is for life.
>>10481873>>10481889>>10481896You're taking this much too seriously, dude. I was just making a funny.
>>10481902Unfortunately I don't find a lot of things funny anymore since Covid took away my hobby.
Anime Dallas is on for December 2020 with restrictions and limited attendance. People aren't really talking about it much, though. Do you think Texas would be any safer by then? I have doubts
>>10481991>Unfortunately I don't find a lot of things funny anymore since Covid took away my hobby.Yeah I believe your dog ate your homework too right?
>>10481991You are weak.
>>10482030It's Texas. You answered your own question.
>A convention scheduled for January is cancelledOh no, that must mean no cons all next year!I realize this is (poor) bait, but I'm sure any reasonable person already knows that there will not be any major cons in the first quarter of 2021. Probably the first half.MAYBE we'll see cons in the second half, but it's way too soon to call it either way.
Mass gathering events set for Spring 2021 are already in danger. Wrestlemania is set to be in LA but now reports are surfacing that WWE may move it to Tampa since it was suppose to be their this year and Florida has lifted their restrictions. We'll know before the end of October if winter cons such as ALA, Sac Anime, and Katsucon will be cancelled. Even D23 has skipped 2021 altogether, that tells you 2021 is already lost.
>>10482030Red conservative states are the ones driving US infection rates back up even though California leads due to its high population and its fair share of retard antimaskers.
>>10482549>Even D23 has skipped 2021 altogether, that tells you 2021 is already lost.2021 cons will be hurt themselves financially if they are cancelled.
>>10482549>mfw I had a dream that D23 2021 was a special one-day event with very limited ticket sales>Lines for panels were still long>Guests were easier to meetI'm having fucking convention withdrawals, D23 moving to 2022 was the last straw
>>10482616it's odd, though, that alabama seems to be the most cautious of the red statesespecially compared to georgia and florida
>>10481723im speaking from the US where we're fucked. the earliest cons are coming back is late 2021. maybe in smaller areas where covid isnt as bad, they could come back next summer with a lot of rules. cities like los angeles and nyc wont have regular cons (no masks/social distancing rules) till 2022 (don't even get me started on la comic con happening lol)
>>10482755>till 2022 (don't even get me started on la comic con happening lol)LA Comic Con is still going to happen this year but don't be surprised it will continue to go on.
>>10482549MAGFest canceled for next year, and it's in the same venue as Katsucon and only like 3~ weeks before Katsu, so I am not holding out hope for Katsu next year.
>>10482761>MAGFest canceled for next year,MAGFest is already in the red last year and they won't make it till 2022 it's already fucked at this point.
>>10482765I know fuck all about MAGFest. I just know that it's close to Katsu and apparently in the same venue, so it's not looking good for Katsu.
>>10482768Magfest made that cancellation on it's own, we don't know how the Gaylord Hotel Center be able to open for 2021. Many hotels are schedule to close down in 2021 if they don't open up immediately.
>>10482769I also heard or saw that the Gaylord fired most if not all of it's staff?
>>10482771That's true like I said numerous this lockdown should never happened in the first place just like Sweden and other countries never implemented it. I don't know if the Gaylord will be opened by end of this year and if not then there's going to be trouble.
>>10482719Find a new hobby or addiction.
>>10482616Dragon Con noped the fuck out and went virtual even with Georgia being wide open.
>>10481798Bamafag here. I don't blame them for pushing it to to 2021 because at this point, who even knows if 2021 will be safe? There's way too much uncertainty. I'd rather them do it this way than having to postpone multiple times. Also, Kami-Con has very loyal, enthusiastic attendees from what I've seen. We won't forget and when it comes back, we'll be there.
>>10483124*pushing it to 2022, damn it
>>10481864And there won't be a 2021 concert. Just virtual concerts for the forseeable future.
>>10481889Shut the fuck up tranny. Go whine about how you are going to die because the orange man is hiding under your bed
>>10483124Pushing it 2022 will hurt them I can bet money will be lost over this.
>>10483133It definitely kills my mood for concerts, tried a vlive and couldn't feel the vibes and hype
>>10483133This, Miku Expo's cancellation is a sign that Coachella is likely no go next year.
>>10483581>Miku Expo's cancellation is a sign that Coachella is likely no go next year.Coachella cannot be cancelled I can see them doing a bubble concert only with 25/50% percent of fans in attendance next year.
>>10483642Maybe if Coachella wasn't in California.
>>10483652It's not too late for Coachella next year if they can plan a bubble concert event.
Why is everyone scared of covid again? Literally everyones going to have it in 2021. Our president is like 72 and recovered in days. No real reason to shut down an entire economy.
>>10483674Not with Newsom at the helm. He's pretty much anti-mass gatherings unless it's a BLM protest.
>>10483779
>>10483824Back to leftypol with you faggot
>>10483779do you know what the long term effects of getting covid are?
>>10483831Well if everyone's had it, it doesn't matter much, does it? This is just nature's way of fixing our ageing population.
>>10483834>Well if everyone's had itthey haven't

>>10483787Newsom and Garcetti are definitely gonna be recalled at this point even the liberals are not happy with him to where California is burning for the last couple years. If Coachella doesn't happen in Cali then we move to Arizona, Utah or Florida as options.
>>10481798>>10481798Last I checked the Kami has grown significantly every year including it's 2020 year.I'm pretty sure it's doing fine. It's the largest by far in the state at least.
As someone who works with the industry side of cons, I would say that international guests are not coming back to the US until late 2021 at the earliest and it's better to look forward to bookings in 2022 already. International guests are a large part of cons to me so basically cons won't be "back" until then.
>>10483834>ageing populationGuess what, dip shit? You've been aging since you fell out of your momI guess it's cool to not give a shit about sick people and old people, but usually even normies frown upon not giving a shit that children are going to get lung cancer and shit>inb4 the world is going to end from global warming/plastic anyway so who caresI'm not even anti-going back outside, I just hate you cult retards

>>10481723SEETHE you US fucks.UK will have cons returner sooner.
Now that the election is over restrictions are going to ease up. Biden and Cuomo are already admitting it.Thank the democrats for 9 months of torture, they caged you so they could run massive voter fraud and steal an election.
vaccine time. probably won't be widely available til spring, though, so who knows if that's even enough time for the summer con season.

>>10499882>Now that the election is over restrictions are going to ease upThis comment isn't aging well. Illinois is closing non-essential things down again and our governor is threatening us with a stay-at-home order if people can't manage to get their shit together in the next few weeks. The midwest is a shitshow and I don't see our case numbers going down anytime soon. It's going to keep on like this until nearly everyone gets vaccinated.I've given up on the hope of ACen happening in 2021. I could see Kopf trying to force one of his cons to happen depending on how the vaccine situation turns out.
>>10481873I decided to try normie stuff instead but it's hard to do that too since covid has even those places limited/shut down.
Can't have cons because antimask antivaxxers gotta have "muh freedumbs"
>>10499979>>10500005>>10500008DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMFucking liberals, every. fucking. time. When you are not busy peacefully protesting and raping, robing, and looting your way across town you are whining and dooooming over the nothingburger fake flu China Virus hoax. Never mind the contradictory nature of this - rioters are magically immune to China Virus don't you know. You doomer faggots are the reason you will never have a convention again.
>>10512628I so hope you get COVID. Then, when you'll be pissing yourself and whine like a little girl at the doors of an ER, you'll know.

Covid, autoerotic asphyxiation? Covid. Actual death numbers are miniscule>shutdowns, maskers are utterly pointless at least according to the doomers party line, as cases are supposedly worse than ever. FAIL>Biden says 250000 will die in one month, lol fucking DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMNeed I say more? But doooom harder if it makes you feel good. Mask harder to signal that virtue. Get a shot of rushed (normally a decade to approve), experimental vaccine using never before tried tech that hijacks your cells to manufacture shit because wtf could go wrong? All over a N O T H I N G B U R G E R.I'm fine myself, no doom here.
>>10512802You sound like the fuck wads who in denial when a tube is shoved down their throat to keep them alive. Be sure to let ER know you're a shitbag when you're drowning in your own lungs so they can know you've agreed to DNR out of denial.
>>10481723Texas just had a con, I was at it. What are you talking about OP?
>>10512674Covid is overblown though. My cousin got it and went to the ER and got sent home with them not doing shit. He started coughing really bad next day and went back. They didn't do shit.Went again the next day and was going to cause a massive scene and the doctors sat him down and explained that covid isn't really anything to worry about unless your old or already in bad health. Which is basically the same as the flu or common fucking cold. It just freaks people out because having a lung infection can freak people out. This is John Hopkins that told him that btw.
>>10512802i don't understand the obsession over the death rate. Amputation has a near 100% survival rate too, so are you cool with losing an arm or leg?
>>10512825There's not much they can do besides give oxygen. And hospitals are filling tf up. COVID has been shown to cause permanent damage in over 50% of the people who recover. PERMANENTLY decreased lung function. Scar tissue in the lungs. And that's not even mentioning the damage it can do to other organs. Sorry but I don't like my odds of PERMANENT LUNG DAMAGE to be a coin toss.
>>10512883yea but you don't die so its totally chill and nothing to worry about /s
>>10481723Kamala Harris and Bill Gates already said we're never opening back up. The only way things will reopen is if you stop being complicit and join the anti-lockdown movements.
>>10512815A con with capped attendance, social distancing, mask enforcement, and a handful of 'literally who?' guests.Shit is nowhere near the same as it was and it won't be for a while. The larger 20k+ attendee cons that people actually look forward to going to aren't happening. Cons also aren't bringing in guests that people care about. The days where we can have events without masks, let alone large events, are far off at this point.

Could you attempt to make a more coherent point here if you're trying to make me out to be the stupid looking one?>>10512965And here's the same retarded argument everyone makes. >no different than choosing to smoke, you know you're getting cancer. There are also all of those other people in public who chose not to smoke and were unwillingly exposed to it. Also you can't fucking smoke in public in a lot of places anymore because of that. Really great example there. Please bring up car crashes or the flu or whatever other backward-ass smooth-brained reason you have. It's all fucked. The government massively dropped the fucking ball on this and has done very little to rectify the problem. This is just bringing decades of systemic failures to light. We don't make anything in this country anymore. Our healthcare system is designed to be constantly run at capacity to maximize profit and this pandemic completely overwhelmed it. Other countries have not fucked this up quite as badly as the US has. And while he played a big part in fucking it up, it's not entirely Trump's fault. Even everyone's favorite saint Fauci was telling people not to wear masks for the first couple months. It's all fucked. 2020 was a wasted year, 2021 is shaping up to be largely the same.
>>10512984>What the fuck does this even mean? Could you attempt to make a more coherent point here if you're trying to make me out to be the stupid looking one?I meant that I've been to so many cons that the con in question is a con, people thinking it needs to have X number of people are idiotic morons.
AX 2021 already cancelled.

>>10499882C'mon man, wipe those tears. Look I got you a blizzard.
>>10515166>Thanks Obama
>>10514226Cancel that room. No cons in 2021.
Cons will be back in 2022 but none of the organizers are going to risk renting out a convention center with the risk some governor will make it illegal for people to gather. Probably won't get their money back since if the convention center owners are smart they've reworded their contracts so corona related stuff doesn't obligate them to refund anything.
>>10515166is that a fucking plain blizzard?
>>10515196So this vaccine isn’t going to do anything?
>>10515200>risk renting out a convention center with the risk some governor will make it illegal for people to gather.why would that be a risk in 2022
>>10515228They're already prepping us to keep wearing the masks even after the vaccine. A new strain will be discovered so need to wait for another vaccine. It's just going to be rolling lockdowns and misery forever unless people decide to say fuck the governor and the fuck the police and do what they want to. All of this to save geriatrics and the immunocompromised (who are fucked anyways, corona or not).

Our hospitals constantly operate at near 80 percent capacity. Covid-19 is pushing it far past what it usually handles. There's no treatment if every bed is full. And because idiots can't just wear masks and not go to parties we won't be back to normal for another year.

And cities have higher populations regardless of political affiliation so a few people not washing their hands or covering their sneeze here and there can often just lead to exponential spread of pathogens in general.
