How do people edit photos to make their faces so clear but with like, no blemishes? When I try to edit mine my photos end up always like blurry ?
>>
>>10460079
Most generic photo editing apps will have a healing brush for removing individual blemishes easily, instead of blurring out the entire skin texture. Throwing on a lot of skin smoothing in apps like Snow will destroy the contours of your face, so use sparingly if you do.

If you’re editing only on your phone, I’d recommend using Lightroom mobile for most adjustments. It’s free with an unpaid Creative Cloud account and has most of the desktop app‘s features.

For more professional results many photographers use a technique called frequency separation.
>>
How do you deal with brands that want to send you free stuff like accessories or dresses?
Do you accept/decline all or only accept ones that you're 100% comfortable with representing?
>>
>>10461121
Most of them just want to get your credit card info, anon.
>>
>>10461121
If it’s through amazon just for a review then I accept, especially if it’s something I can actually use
>>
Can you all direct me to lolitas that have been uploading IGTV videos?

Lately I've been seeing lolitas doing live unboxings and saving them for later viewing, Moitie Diaries is a regular thing, and I even sat down through a couple of hour-long videos of gothic lolitas just chatting. I'm starved for lolita content and these have been good for putting on in the background while I clean or do whatever else so I'd love to find some more!
>>
>>10462429
IGTV isn't the best place to upload lolita videos. People aim for 2-3 minute vids and with Reels, people will be focusing more on Tiktok style content.

Speaking of IG, any hashtag with the word lolita in it seems to shadow ban your post. It used to be #lolita and #lolitafashion but it seems to also affect hashtags like #classiclolita and #gothiclolita. Is this happening for anyone else?
>>
>>10462652
Shadow ban how? I was under the impression shadow banned tags show nothing under the tag itself. I'm not sure what other effect you mean.
>>
>>10462653
banned tags don't show anything underneath the tag itself, and there's a notice that those posts can't be searched by tag
Shadowbanned tags just kill your reach because Instagram doesn't want to spread that kind of content. As far as I know, shadowbanned tags are still searchable, and your content should show up under the tag.

>>10462652
It's been going around for a while that any tag containing the word "lolita" gets shadowbanned. Even so, e-thots in nymphet fashion still use "sweetlolita" all the time and seem to still have good reach. I don't think there's any one good answer. Maybe experiment with your tags a little and see what happens?
>>
>>10462664
I noticed that too. People still use lolita related hashtags even though it destroys your reach bc it won't show up under any hashtags you used. Mine have been getting good reach through the Explore section when I use lolita hashtags but it's less visible compared to a non-shadowbanned posy
>>
>>10462652
>IGTV isn't the best place to upload lolita videos. People aim for 2-3 minute vids and with Reels, people will be focusing more on Tiktok style content.

I realize it's not ideal for longer videos (there's not even a proper search function for videos ffs) but at least for now there are still a few lolitas uploading on there and I'd love to find as many of them as I can.
>>
Thought I’d get a discussion going, for both lolita and cosplay.

>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories? (Lolitas: change “WIP” to coord builds)
>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
>what makes you want to block a user?
>>
>>10462652
Shadow ban? If you upload a pic with one of these tags, does it impact your entire IG account or just that one post?
>>
>>10463466
Shadowbanned tags are not a thing
>>
>>10463468
Certain tags will destroy your visibility otherwise post proof
>>
>>10463448
>>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
I'll click like on most things that even remotely appeal to me but sometimes I'll see coords that I absolutely love or that are photographed particularly well (in the sense that it looks artistic instead of like any other nicely but generically framed IG picture) and that'll usually make me click on their feed. That and if I find myself liking multiple posts from the same person on the explore page then it's a sign I should just look through all of their content.

>>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories?
Not for coords, but I do like them when someone's actually making a dress or accessory.

>>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
I usually read them but I'll skip it if it's basically an essay. I like the ones that talk a bit about their day while they were wearing the pictured coord, maybe talk about the quality of the items they're wearing, and even though they're super over-used, little clever quips related to the picture. I hate captions that are obviously just trying to up engagement and preachy captions specifically when the picture is just a vapid fashion shot.

>>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
I do!I like seeing little tidbits about people's lives out of lolita. I don't like it when the normie posts outnumber the posts related to what I'm actually following them for though.

>>what makes you want to block a user?
I haven't had to block anyone, but anyone being creepy or harrassing me would get a block.
>>
>>10463448
>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
I hardly follow anyone new and when I do I just go through some of the good ones on a single day and follow if they're appealing. If it's a "normal" day I don't even open anyones page.

>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories? (Lolitas: change “WIP” to coord builds)
I like WIPs as I do handmade stuff myself. It gives soul to your pieces. But I don't fancy coord builds. If it's full floordinate it's ok, but not half asset pieces put together.

>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
Not really. I just look at the pic, like if it's nice and go on.

>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
If I follow you for lolita I'd like to see pics of lolita related stuff. Non-related are okay time to time, but if it becomes regular basis I'll just unfollow you.

>what makes you want to block a user?
Harrasment and sissies, but I haven't needed to block anyone.

One more: what makes you unfollow a person?
For me it's constant posting (like several times a day), not having enough variety (feels like you have seen the pic for 10th time even if it's something new) and posting too much unrelated stuff.
>>
>>10463448
>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
Decent coordinates in a style I like. Terrible answer, I know, but I don’t care much for photography skill or the attractiveness of the poster. I’m looking for coord ideas specifically.

>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories? (Lolitas: change “WIP” to coord builds)
Lmao wtf is a “coord build”? It takes like 20 minutes to pull shit out of your closet and at least do a floordinate. Fucking kids these days...

>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
Yes, I look for brands of items worn and maybe some context for what the coord is for (meetup, casual hangout with friends, ice skating, whatever). If you leave a blog post I’m ignoring it.

>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
Only if their clothes are cute but if it’s truly normie it’s probably not

>what makes you want to block a user?
I’m locked I’ll just unfollow
>>
>>10463448
>>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
If I see someone new with a coord I particularly like I'll check out their page.

>>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories? (Lolitas: change “WIP” to coord builds)
I like flat lays.

>>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
If it's short I'll read it. If it's long I'll skim it in case it's interesting.

>>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
It's ok if they don't post normie outfits too often and if the outfits look well put together.

>>what makes you want to block a user?
Sissies, spammers, and people whose coords I don't like who constantly show up on my feed because I follow a tag they use. I hope none of them notice I have them blocked.

>>10463623
>what makes you unfollow a person?
If they post too much normie stuff. Sometimes I'll follow back a private account and when I see their feed I'll unfollow if it's not to my taste. I feel guilty about doing that though.
>>
>>10462652
I use #lolitafashion all the time and my reach is always very high so I think IG banning hashtags with lolita in them (except for #lolita of course) is a myth.
>>
>>10463561
nayrt, banned tags are a thing that can kill reach/ your account can get shadowbanned for using a tag, but isn't that usually related to spam bot detection, not "inappropriate" tags? I haven't seen any evidence that #lolitfashion or similar tags hinder reach, quite the opposite.

>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
If they have a cute background from home (not a makeshift backdrop), I take a look. I love looking at other people’s tastes in home decor

>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories? (Lolitas: change “WIP” to coord builds)
I like looking at WIP on accessories and occasionally watch their “get ready with me” videos

>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
Not really. Everything feels fake and we all know why we’re here.

>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
I don’t mind if they have a cute style outside of lolita but even then, I prefer the posts to be limited. I follow other lolitas so I can see lolita.

>what makes you want to block a user?
People that overstep their boundaries in DMs, and/or people that spam your posts with comments like “waaaah~ *^* you look sooo cute!!! I wish I could join lolita but it’s too expensive T_T”

>>10463623
>what makes you unfollow a person?
If they’ve been inactive for over 3 months, if they start posting non lolita stuff only.
I’ll throw another long on the fire:
>what’s the weirdest DM you’ve ever received from a new lolita?

I once had a young girl flood me with photos of legitimate goodwill looking normie clothes, asking if I’d be willing to trade her for a dress I was selling. It was wild

Anyone down to share their best times for posting within their time zone? Most of my data is from my state only, but I’d like to reach Europe and the west coast if possible

Anyone ever used money to promote your social media account? Not like buying followers on a third party site but buying ads/promoted posts from the social media sites itself? What were your results like? I've tried promoting photos on instagram and while I do get a ton of likes on the photos I promoted, no one ever actually bothers following me or liking any of my other posts. So it's like 1000 likes on one photo and 50 likes on the rest of the photos from the same set. Also tried it with my facebook page. While buying ads does get me new followers, I took some bad advice and set the demographics to global and now I have a ton of third worlder bots following me, which is more or less what happens to people who just buy followers from third party sites. It sucks that even if you go through the proper channels and promoting on facebook itself, it can still fuck up your account and kill your engagement.
>>
>>10463448
>>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
If the coords are interesting to me in an inspiring way, especially if the image quality is good
>>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories? (Lolitas: change “WIP” to coord builds)
Not really unless it's a homemade project that's photographed in an ~aesthetic~ way
>>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
Yes I find them pretty interesting as long as they're personal
>>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
Not really, but I do like it when people post non-lolita j-fashion too especially when they incorporate lolita items into their looks
>>what makes you want to block a user?
Creeps, men who think they can slide into my dms

>>10463623
>One more: what makes you unfollow a person?
Sometimes when I figure out that a mutual unfollowed me, I unfollow them too. Or when the content is getting stale/spammy, that's when I consider to unfollow

>>10464863
>>what’s the weirdest DM you’ve ever received from a new lolita?
Someone asking a bit too much advice all at once and telling me too much personal information on top of that, it made me a bit uncomfortable. Nothing big to be upset about though and I hope she will keep improving

I'll add another one
>What's the nicest moment or memory you have with Instagram?
To me it was when an e-famous lolita followed me back on my fashion ig whom I've been following since I was a newbie on my old main account. Big senpai noticed me energy
>>
>>10468328
cleanser and moisturizer don't get rid of blemishes and scars from healed acne, anon.
>>
>>10477301
Seeing someone’s personal photos or videos as a promoted post or ad is cringy to me and the lack of follower increase might be due to that. Sorry, not trying to be mean, just maybe you’re not aware of how it’s coming across
>>
Can someone remind me of the handle of that Chinese lolita with round glasses who often posts pictures with her husband dressed in corresponding themes/colors but modern style? Pretty sure one photo had her wearing British Bear and him in a Ralph Lauren teddy bear sweater.
>>
>>10477301
IG typically shows promoted posts to people either in feed or in stories (depending on what you paid for) so people may mistake it for an account they're already following and not even recognize that it's a sponsored post. Everyone I know who has done it with a personal account wasn't a fan. Seems to work better for shops though.

FB is known to go to clickfarms in 3rd world countries for paid ads. It's scummy, and it sucks that paying for the product ended up making things worse.
>>
>>10477536
>>
>>10477585
Thanks! (Funny, it’s sort of a British Bear knockoff but looks like a real RL bear sweater, which can go for up to $1k.)
>>
>>10477636

That dress looks nothing like British Bear aside from having bears on it though.
>>
>>10477636
Anon, are you blind or retarded? Teddy bear prints weren’t invented by AP and I concur with the other anon- that jsk looks nothing like British Bear except for having teddy bears.
>>
>>10477637
>>10477641
Fair. In my memory it was British Bear and I couldn’t think of another bear print while sleepy. My point was that Bacio Bouquet is a pretty cheap brand to be wearing next to collectible RL, which is a funny switch from the cheap clothes you usually see on the bfs/husbands of lolitas wearing expensive brand. These two look cute and match either way.
>>
>>10477643

It's almost like people buy and wear things they think are cute and don't care that much about how expensive it is or isn't.
>>
>>10459852
>algorithm conspiracies
I hate how all these people preach about not buying into "fake news" but then spread this shit like it's gospel.
>>
I’ve seen guides to posing and taking good photos in egl before, can anyone link me? Or if not, and you’re good at taking pics for insta/CoF etc., any advice? All mine are shitty mirror selfies lol
>>
>>10477927
Don't post shitty selfies and take a clear shot of your outfit if you're using a mirror
>>
>>10477943
I’d rather improve and NOT take mirror photos though, but I’m really struggling to get full-body shots that don’t look shit
>>
>>10477958
my best advice for that is to basically put your phone on the mirror and take a picture that way
>>
>>10477893
did you just watch the netflix doc ?
>>
>>10477927
I don't know how others do it, but I literally just prop my phone on some books on a table/bench at about lower hip height, put it on front-facing mode with a timer of 10 seconds, then once I've pressed the button, I have enough time to get into a position about 2-3 feet away. I make sure I'm facing a window for the natural lighting. I usually do 5-10, then review the photos to see if there were any poses that looked especially good, or any changes I need to make to my coordinate/styling (e.g. hair out of place, petticoat peaking through, etc.)
>>
>>10477958
Just get a tripod you can clip your phone onto. They're cheap and very useful.
>>
>>10477958

Is your room big enough? That can be an issue. Try angling from the side and utilize diagonal space to get the distance needed.
Do you have a tripod? Tripods can help, but you can make a cheap one from a stool stacked with books.
Do you have the right angle? Low angles accentuate long legs but also double chins and round faces. High angles will make the face look smaller but too high and you can look stumpy.

Is the angle way off? Try fixing the tripod setup to begin with to be as straight as possible. Apps like Lightroom can help a lot if you can't fix it completely to angle the picture correctly.

People made fun of Mint's lolita posing tutorial but I have yet to see a better one. Also look at lolitas you admire and see how they pose and carry themselves.

If you don't look relaxed you can also play your favorite song while you pose. I find that helps particularly for video format.
>>
>>10477975
No offence but doing it that way is going to take forever and you have to reposition yourself each time. Does your phone have the Auto shutter mode? If you stay still for a couple seconds, it'll automatically snap a picture. Using a cheap bluetooth shutter will also help and you can get one at a dollar store
>>
What apps do people use these days to get rid of ghost followers who don't like your posts? I tried using a couple, but they turned off that specific feature.
>>
>>10480788
You don't have ghost followers. The algorithm shows your posts to a small percentage of your followers. If you arbitrarily cull your followers you'll get even less likes because the pool will be smaller.
>>
>>10480852

I always thought it was a percentage and not a solid number - for instance if 80% of people like it then the algorithm is more favorable than if 10% of people like it initially. By that logic it should be logical to cull people who have never, ever liked a post of yours - aka mostly bot accounts who are dead weights anyways. Or am I misunderstanding something?
>>
>>10480852
I think they meant spam or robot accounts. Everyone has those types following them until you manually remove them
>>
>>10463448
>what kind of posts make you want to look beyond the hashtag/explore, and look at their page?
Generally it's if they cosplay a character or series I'll check their feed if they do more stuff that I like. Since I'm just under 400 followers and don't gain a lot often, I usual check the feed of accounts that follow me as well as some likes that aren't from my mutuals or regular supporters.
>are you a fan of WIPs as an actual post or do you prefer seeing them in stories? (Lolitas: change “WIP” to coord builds)
I like them for people in following, they don't often encourage me to dig deeper into an account.
>do you read captions? If yes, what kind of captions do you enjoy reading?
I read a lot of captions, but I start skipping them for accounts that I know just post generic questions to farm engagement.
>do you like seeing normie posts along with cosplay/lolita posts (example: posting a pic of themselves in regular clothes) or do you prefer to see these in stories?
Usually only if I'm actually friends with someone, but I don't get upset when people I follow post their normie stuff.
>what makes you want to block a user?
Harassment. I don't even care about vulgar comments and such if it's not actually an inconvenience. Lust is a shallow validation that gives me dopamine.
>>
>>10481096

Yes this is what I meant. Bot accounts.

Anyways some anon mentioned an app a while back but when I went to download it, it appears they disabled that feature. So was wondering if there was a different one I should use. I don't mind lurker accounts as much as long as they occasionally like my stuff.
>>
IDK if anyone would be able to help me out, but I'm trying to remember a Japanese lolita who was on Instagram. She wore a lot of OTT Angelic Pretty outfits, made her own sheer aprons, and wore blonde wigs with most of her coords. She used to edit devil horns on her photos sometimes?

She had a style that reminds me a bit of go.kishi's OTTness, but her style was toned down a bit.
>>
>>10482683
it was realisticsweet, who seems to have disappeared. At least I was able to download and back up her entire yaplog before the service ended.
>>
>>10482685
Thank you anon! I think I may be remembering 2 different people - realisticsweet was who I remembered originally, thank you again. However there was another Japanese lolita, she wore a lot of criss-cross strap shoes, maybe they were Tokyo Boppers? I remember she wore usually dark red or green strap shoes and took most of her coord shots in her room. But very similar style to realisticsweet -- unlike RS she would show her face sometimes.

Do you have your gallery online anywhere?

Thanks again for the help!

something about story shares and bookmarks replacing likes and comments as the way to "boost" posts, have been seeing all my lolita influencer friends complaining about it

Any suggestions for making Reels appealing? I've made a couple of vids for tiktok (I know, pls don't put my head on a stake. I enjoy my garbage) and want to crosspost, but tiktoks are 1min long and Reels are 30-45 seconds. I've been splitting them in half, but that means posting 2 videos with awkward cuts.

Any suggestions on how to best use the Reels algorithm or what type of Reels the people tend to prefer? I make sewing vids btw. Just little crafts for now, but eventually for sewing cosplay and daily wear fashion.

>>10496230
This explains a lot. I'm not in the states but most of my followers are and the engagement on my last post was non-existent.

>>10496292
I don't doubt this will be the case.
>>
To all the people worrying about tags-
Don’t forget that engagement is generally lower on holidays anyways. A lot of people are and are not looking at their phones. This is why people generally post holiday posts early.
>>
>>10496342

I have a business account so I get breakdown, and about 60% of my engagement is from tags. Needless to say I'm not posting until after the election.
>>
>>10496230
my engagement has been 1-2% for the last month or so and its literally making me want to die. tempted to just use no tags at all desu. what's the point in having 20k + followers if only 200 see things you post?
>>
>>10496370
My engagement dropped once I got to 12k, even when I use tags with good visibility. Are you posting regularly and using stories? I find if I'm not doing either of those things, my engagement goes down to the single digits
>>
Has anyone else noticed that reels will pull you in more followers but will generally have less likes than a photo? Just noticed it on mine, maybe it's just me. I make pretty dumb reels content after all.
>>
>>10496596
Nope, same thing. Reels have been great for getting views but it doesn't necessarily translate into follows. I don't think people even read the captions since one part of my reel will get a different number of views. Eventually they started to catch up, but I think you really have to make an engaging cover and keep it short which sucks since its only 30 seconds.
>>
>>10496596
i experienced the opposite. i posted a few reels and now thats all thats getting likes and comments now.
>>
>>10496610
I'm getting the same thing - they're getting viewed quite a bit and some of mine get a lot of likes but it's not converting into more follows
>>
>>10496596
For me it's also the opposite. The likes and comment ratio are high, but my followers have stagnated.
>>

>>10498862

I feel attacked but there's nothing factually wrong with this statement
>>
>>10498859
Sense of community, there aren't lolitas with similar taste to me locally so following each other and commenting/liking posts make me feel like I have other people to appreciate the style with.

>>10498862
Also this. It's especially exciting when a lolita you think is well-dressed follows you.
>>
>>10499109
Lots of retards think the election was rigged and they're spreading fake proof on Twitter. Instagram probably doesn't want that shit to spread on their app. Expect tags to be blacked out for the next two months.
>>
>>10499138

I was afraid this would happen but it still sucks. Oh well.
>>
>>10498859
all of the above, plus to get free shit
>>
>>10499109
Are people still posting despite this? I get 60-90% of my engagement from tags usually so I’m not really motivated
>>
>>10499288
I also get a majority of my engagement from tags so I probably won't be posting as often. If I do post, it'll be shit I don't really care about like costests or floordinates.
>>
>>10499288
>>10499332

I get about 60% engagement from tags and the explore page (which is driven by people liking through tags), so I'm honestly feeling quite discouraged from this so despite churning out coords due to pandemic quarantine blues, I probably won't be posting for a bit. At least I'll have quite the backlog when they finally lift the blackout.
>>
>>10499288
I just post once a week to keep the people already following me happy/keep them sticking around
>>
>>10499288
I'm still posting, I miss tags but at the end of the day I'm posting because I have content that I'm proud of and makes me happy to look at. I figure it'll be a nice treat to eventually get more engagement once things become more normal.
>>
>>10499505
Don't you hemorrhage followers posting once a week?
>>
>>10499588
I only lose followers when i stop posting consistently/go through a post drought. As long as I post at least weekly I don't get punished by the algorithm, and people tend to stick around
>>
>>10499138
Imagine being so retarded that you don't see the blantant fuckery going on with the election. Instagram is practicing censorship and it's not to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Does someone following you and then liking 20 of your pics actually flag you / shadowban to instagram?

Because it keeps randomly happening where I'll get a random follow and then mass-liked and my friends have told me it fucks with the algorithm for your account.

If so how does one handle this?
>>
>>10501126
I don't know about instagram, but it definitely happens on tiktok. Some people on tiktok have taken to blocking or removing followers who do it to hopefully save themselves from shadowbans. It kind of sucks that someone was trying to help and gets banned, but if it's hurting you in the end then that's probably more important.

NTA - it's not exactly shadow banning but it nerfs the reach for that post via hashtags if you use one that IG doesn't approve of. People who follow you or share your pictures can still see that post
>>
>>10501468
Is that true? Popular accounts use #lolitafashion without losing reach and that's supposedly a banned tag.
>>
>>10501479
AYRT - I can't figure out why that is. I follow the #lolitafashion hashtag and they show up on my feed with zero issues but when I use that tag in a post, I get 30 views max for hashtags. I normally get 2-5k when I use non flagged hashtags
>>

That’s literally shadow banning
>>
>>10501479

I've tried both and honestly I just get more reach using lolita tags. Whatever shadow ban is, it either doesn't affect me or a ton of people have other people buying into it so certain tags don't get as crowded.

Sometimes you can't see your own posts in top tags. I've looked on friends accounts and seen mine listed on the top or recent, depending on where I expect to see it, despite it being not visible on my account. Unrelated to the recent hashtag disable bullshit, but does anyone know or have information on whether IG (and FB) throttles or shadowbans keywords in descriptions (and maybe even inside images) for Onlyfans, Patreon, burlesque, etc etc?

A lot of my friends feel like they are targeted words but I'm looking for more information.
>>
>>10511910
>Onlyfans, Patreon
They do for these two. That’s why a lot of thots use type OF and Patreon out weird. The shadowban filter covers alternate ways of writing Patreon too (e.g. P@tr30n).
>>
Looks like tags should be back up and running due to the US elections being officially over and all.

I want to unfollow everyone who won’t shut up in their stories about “sex workers” being oPpreSseD by IG. >>
>>10518379
Different anon, but this. I followed the cosplaywip tag a while back hoping to see some new builds on my feed every once in a while and 8/10 posts were just lewd closet cosplays. It's not like they were actually working on anything, so why abuse the tag?
>>
>>10518379
I've already unfollowed/muted a bunch of my mutuals. Nothing personal, I just don't want lewd stuff on my feed. Call me a prude I guess.
>>
>>10518435
>>10518441
God, I remember a time when, while the lewd cosplayers were always there, they were one-offs or on the fringes. Costhots really did destroy the cosplay community, and it's sad.
>>
>>10518465
I am all for costhots, but like anon said, they have their own containment sites. I had someone tell me I'm anti SW because I unfollowed them... like calm down its just Instagram. I would have also unfollowed you if you started only posting pics of your food or out of cosplay selfies.
>>
>>10518465
I think there's equal blame on costhots and the people that enable them. The end result was that a dozen or so girls made a shitton of money from costhottery and then the hobby got flooded with people trying to get a slice of the pie.

But the enablers just follow the original group since they've already spent money on them and feel some type of connection because of that sunk cost so they just stick with their first choice because why not?

So the end-end result are costhots over-marketing their OFs anywhere they can get away with it trying to simp-farm and just annoying everyone.

Then when they fail their self-esteem is destroyed for "not being hot enough"

Onlyfans is cancer.
>>
>>10518874
>Then when they fail their self-esteem is destroyed for "not being hot enough"
Are you speaking from personal experience?
>>
>>10518874
Different anon, but the root issues are:
>men demand ANY female cosplayer for nudes now. OF is expected, not a niche.
>Store bought and closet cosplays are being given more attention than handcrafted non-sexual cosplays
>Costhots and their orbitters have become the loud majority and drowned out actual hobbyists. This is cruel because once the fad is over and the money/tits are gone, they will leave a wake in our community.
>>
>>10518874
>Bring up cosplay to any normies
>They think its a sex/kink/fetish thing
>Can't even tell them they're wrong anymore
>>
>>10518957
>Store bought and closet cosplays are being given more attention than handcrafted non-sexual cosplays

I've seen so many of my friends get discouraged with Instagram because getting engagement is hard if you're not posting some degree of NSFW content. At this point I don't even mind the Taobao bought stuff anymore... I post my cosplays strictly for fun and not for money, but it's still disappointing when your reach isn't as big as someone who does maid outfits of every character they do

You're right, I should clarify that I don't give a fuck about store bought or closet cosplays. Making handmade costumes isn't for everyone and especially not for beginners. Like you said, this is a hobby for fun, so the low time, material, and effort investment totally makes sense. There's no shame in using them, but there is shame for the community to hold them at a high esteem than quality handmade. Now, if the handmade is shit then... it is what it is. Or at least that's my humble onion.

Bro, my engagement on my posts on IG is literally trash all year this year. You'd think with more people staying home or spending time online it would get better. Inb4 post better content but my content would garner ok engagement but absolutely tanked this year.

>>10519866
I also don't want to switch to Tik Tok. I'd rather do pix but people will always like videos more than pictures. What keeps me at bay with TikTok is the toxic level of cringe. >>
>>10519270
My engagement is better than ever but it's been difficult translating high engagement into followers. I'll get 700+ likes and 30+ comments on photos, but I'm still sitting at 1000 followers after a whole year. The photo that performed the best for me this year got over 2k likes but only netted me 4 followers.
>>
>>10519894
it's been trash right? i used to net 10k likes per post and a couple hundred followers a month if i posted frequently. i'm posting the same quality stuff (outfit shots/details/selfies etc) and actually... losing 3-4 follows per post? and getting a couple hundred likes despite having several thousand followers. r i p
>>
>>10520035
>10k likes
>several thousand followers

Getting 10k likes per post isn’t average for someone with your follower count. It sounds like your posts used to hit the explore page, but they aren’t doing that anymore, so now I’m guessing your engagement is primarily coming from just the people who already follow you. The average post engagement for your follower count (without hitting explore) should be around 10%. But I get where you’re coming from, it sucks to get really high engagement and then have it suddenly drop even if that drop just puts you in a normal engagement range

Yeah. If you're not getting at least like, 50-80 views per tiktok, it's safe to assume you're shadowbanned and your tiktoks are only viewable by people who go to your profile and click them/people you send them to directly. And they shadowban for random reasons, too. Not having your tiktoks show up on anyone's for you page is a surefire way to get abysmal levels of views.

And I feel you 100%. It's honestly mildly embarrassing to post stuff online and have basically nobody see it.

That’s Freddy Cousin-Brown, a super basic paid-follower “influencer” who is just as tacky as your average lolita. She’s known for bad taste and extremely poorly styled bangs. Odd choice for contrast. Her look would probably appeal to sweets so I can only assume the poster is either a scrote into lolita or a lolita at heart feeling sour grapes about the price of the clothes they really want. (She mostly wears cheap, no-brand plastic China shit that she shills on her site.)
>>
>>10521567
>Her look would probably appeal to sweets
don't do us dirty like that please
>>
>>10521567
By the way, she’s not so much a girl as she is a billboard. Freddy is a collaboration between a modeling agency and a marketing firm (Gleam), imitating the style of other, more self-made influencers, to sell ad space. Nothing about her is real. I for one am glad that lolita isn’t popular enough to attract flacks like that yet.

Anyone else read RainyLune's article about the Instagram algorithm and if so, what are you thoughts?
>Article Here:
https://rainylune.com/blogs/blog/why-your-instagram-engagement-kinda-sucks-right-now

Imo, I think this made me give up on posting on insta. I'm not gonna even try to get a following on there anymore. Are there any platforms that you prefer over Insta?
>>
>>10521816
I think we're collectively waiting for a new platform that doesn't suck dick. Tiktok is for teenagers and tumblr is dead, and insta has been corrupted. Amino always sucked. Who knows what's next desu
>>
>>10521816

That article makes me feel exhausted but honestly I'm not surprised. I checked a few IGs of people I thought had good engagement, and I'd hate to say it but I'm pretty relieved in a way we're all in the same boat right now. I'll still post, but I wonder sometimes if I shouldn't put my photos into something a bit more permanent and easily salvageable for tracking.
>>
>>10521816
I dont use IG TV and rarely make Reels and so far my engagement is doing okay. When I did make Reels, the views and likes weren't that high so I can't say mine were promoted more than my normal posts.

On the real though, who has time to make all those videos and posts. Lay off the drugs, Instagram.
>>
>>10521816
jesus christ this is brutal lol
>>
>>10521816
literally forcing us to make tiktoks fuk
>>
>>10521832
I agree, the crown is either going to go to a newcomer or the first app to appease its userbase.

>>10521901
There is some comfort in knowing that we're all fucked together and its not some personal fault.
>if I shouldn't put my photos into something a bit more permanent and easily salvageable for tracking.
Oh that's interesting. Something like facebook's albums or something?
>>
>>10521816
funny how I left tumblr to go to instagram and now I might leave instagram for tumblr, or at least start re-using it now that lolita content isn't outright banned.
>i liked tumblr better than instagram tee bee h
>>
>>10521816
Reading this made me kind of sick. She posted about this so casually- Is this kind of thing the norm for young people these days? I miss like Myspace and early Facebook, when posts were shown chronologically, not in order of popularity...
>>
>>10522380
Facebook doesn't even let you fucking sort by most recent anymore. God it's so annoying.
>>
>>10521916
I haven't even glanced at making IGTV as well. Insta really wants its users to make posting their full time job huh. What really ruffled my petti about this article was that Insta doesn't promote any content that doesn't use their in-app editor because they don't want people repurposing content from other platforms. That would've been the only good way to try to keep up with these stupid rules, but no.
>>
>>10522380
If it makes you feel better, the author of the article is also an artist who was dismayed at the state of instagram as well. That's why they shared. On Twitter, the article was getting some serious conversations and sympathies.
>>
>>10521816
I'm not imagining all the lolitas scrambling to make TikToks ever since this was posted, am I?
>>
>>10523059
Oops, meant Reels. My old brain can't differentiate then apparently.
>>
I use the same tags for cosplay plus the relevant show all the time but recently a random repost got picked up by the ig claw and got a ton of reach/literally 5x more likes than I regular get. And then since all my photos are back to the regular small amount of likes from my friend. Does this just randomly happen or did zuck get tired of me shittalking him and tell the algo to show me who is really in charge kek
>>
>>10523093
I've heard superstitions that using the same tags on every post (with few variation) is a primo way to get shadowbanned but I also have seen random fluctuations in the attention of my posts.

Actually to get on my soapbox for a minute: I made a 1 min video and posted it 3 ways. One was a 30 second no voiceover with a song from instagram attached. The other two were the 1 min video split into two parts with original audio. Usually instagram favors the 30 sec video, but for whatever reason I've noticed that the second half of the 1 min video always gets more attention than the other two even though it randomly cuts into the middle of a video with no intro. I can't figure out for the life of me why insta favors that one above the rest. It's happened like two or three times now
>>
>>10523170
Why did you split the one minute video in the first place? And what’s it a video of?
>>
>>10523255
Insta only allows 30 seconds per reel so since my original video was 1 min long for tiktok it must be spliced. That's why I also made a 30 second no voiceover "recap" since Insta prefers that.

It's just a vid of me walking through my sewing process for a project. I made some plushies a while back and now I'm working on a cosplay. Thanks for asking :)
>>
>>10523366
Oh that makes sense. Your other post didn’t specify it was for reels so I assumed you were talking about a normal video post.

Based on your content I’m guessing the second video does better because it has a conclusion. A lot of people don’t have the attention span to watch the entire process, especially if they don’t plan on making the same thing themselves, so they just want to see a little bit of you working and then get the payoff of seeing the finished product
>>
>>10523564
Ahhh that makes sense. I'll keep that in mind in the future.
>>
>>10521520
can you name some accounts?
>>
This might belong in the stupid questions thread, but:

What do you do when a guy starts following you? Especially when his icon is his picture, he has few to no posts, and has few followers himself but is following tons of other accounts?

Is it okay to just soft block? I have zero interest in men and was debating on making my account private, but I don't want to prevent actual lolitas from interacting with me. (I've made quite a few friends in the fashion on IG.)
>>
>>10524582
I block all men who are strangers. They're probably not following my j-fash specific account because they care for the content, no they're just haplessly following whoever. I am willing to bet that they never even notice I block them.

I'm here to preach to the choir. My ideal Instagram environment is just lolita related users following each other. Men with accounts exactly as the one you described can be turned away at the door, and they literally won't care.

Nobody will find out. Block them, anon.
>>
>>10524582
I block them all.
>>
>>10524582
I also block them along with any user with no posts or no usericon.
>>
>>10524582
i just saw a guy like that comment to stop stickering the face. if that's you, please block him. what a creep.
>>
For lolitas: Is it bad for your platform to block tons of people? I've had a crazy influx of ddlg and aguey sexual blank profiles following me and I'm blocking them. Then I notice that my post engagement is literally abysmal.

What happened?
>>
>>10524773
Degenerates love the lolita tags and make up a lot of their engagement or something?
>>
>>10524588
>>10524598
>>10524682
Thanks anon, I will block with no remorse.

>>10524688
Really sorry to hear that you had to deal with that, anon. The men who follow me never comment, which is already gross, but that is super gross. Wanna share their username or first and last characters of their username, so I (and others) can keep an eye out?

>>10524773
I block ageplayers on the spot and have it in my profile to not interact. I wish they would all fuck off already. I have not noticed anything worse, it seems to be about the same but if you look above, it looks like engagement is taking across the bored for everyone so I'm hoping it's unrelated for you.

>>
>>10525077
If you're going to be an ugly old man wearing lolita and actually appreciate the fashion like this guy seems to do, have the self awareness to at least wear a mask or cover your face

Like I get it this guy seems like he's just about the clothing but that's not gonna make strangers unthink "dress wearing tranny running around with a group of young women" especially when he's the only male, the only old one. Makes it look like a sex or humiliation thing and he humiliates everyone he's with by proxy

And yeah I'd block him.
>>
>>10525077
Im okay with men like this in the fashion. He clearly takes it seriously to put in the effort for nice coordinates and appreciates the actual clothing.
>>
>>10525077
He's following me, and I remember following him back for a little while. After some time I realised I couldn't stand his face. I agree that his content would be more bearable with a sticker. Since then I have unpolluted him and "muted" his content from ever reaching my page.

I do not block him, because no matter how ugly he is I think he has a genuine interest in lolita and therefore I don't mind him seeing my posts.
>>
>>10525423
Unpolluted a typo for unfollowed, still gave me a giggle.
>>
>>10525077
A biological man in this fashion, no matter his pronouns, should fully accept every individual biological woman's opinion on this, no matter what it is. He should know that his biology needs to take accountability that bio men need to respect bio women's spaces and boundaries and not get upset if they get the boot without any rhyme or reason known to them. Additionally, other bio women should never shame a woman for not wanting to interact with a bio man, no matter the context.

So that being said, I would most likely block. If I feel like spending the energy dealing with a potentially uncomfortable situation, I may not block right away and see how he engages. If he just adds me and never says anything, or says anything inappropriate or questionable, I will straight up block. But if he can show he is actually a level headed person and there is no foul play at hand, I'll give him a chance.

That is a lot of emotional labor to do though and to be honest, I would most likely rather just block all bio men because I have enough shit to deal with and use IG as a happy distraction or decompress a bit. More often than not, it's not worth it to me to invest in a potentially uncomfortable or harmful situation just to give someone a chance at being an instagram acquaintance.

Also I will say, in the past most bio men who wear the fashion, regardless of their pronouns, have the most drama and complain the loudest about things. Kind of funny how they freak out when no one wants to deal with them despite taking no accountability for their own behavior.
>>
speaking of scrotes, anyone else getting mean comments from them on their reels? men are insufferable and can't let women have fun without saying something lmao
>>
I have 2 ig accounts, personal and lolita. I logged into the latter on my bf’s phone and left it there, so now he browses that feed sometimes and sees when I get comments and stuff. I think it’s fair because he takes most of my pictures so it’s kind of his work too, and it’s not like people are sending me secret messages there, but one of my friends thinks it’s creepy. What do you think?
>>
>>10525559
It all depends on the kind of relation you two have and his intention in using your account. I don't find it creepy or inappropriate as long as your bf isn't using it to monitor you or to comment pretending to be you.
>>
>>10525503
Reels and IGTV posts are getting hit especially hard with normie comments since IG is desperately trying to promote those two forms to literally anyone, so niche reels and IGTV posts are getting shown to normies too. One cosplayer I follow made a reel showing how she made some cosplay parts and ended up getting tons of dms telling her to kill herself because the reel ended up splashed on a ton of normies' explore pages.
>>
>>10525567
Well said, anon. I completely agree.
>>
>>10525567
>>10525559
This feels like common sense, like if you have a healthy relationship there should be no problem? My partner is normally my photographer and the majority of the time I at least keep them in the loop of my lolita dealings, so I see this as nbd.
>>
>>10525479
Well that was weirdly specifically terfy
>>
>>10525786
Fuck off, terf shouldn't even be a slur. If anything it's you dick sucking tranny loving ""feminists"" that are the problem. Of course feminism should exclude men who are making a mockery of feminity.

>>
>>10525809
We get it, you hate women and will do anything to shill a single man's comfort over an entire community of biological women in a space that is primarily for them.

Keep throwing terf around, we see you and how it's a convenient blanket term to cover up what you actually are: a misogynist.
>>
God I hate coming back to this board every couple of months just to see damn near every thread is “tranny this” or “tranny that” god i just wanna talk about cute outfits and bully people for their Ali express maid dresses. its all so tiring

Being a misogynist is based now talk about instagram strats

I'll bully people for their AliExpress maid dresses with you sweetie.
>>
>>10521816
Over the past week I took the advice from this article and started applying it to my IG habits.

Did more stories, made a single reel, commented a little bit more, etc etc.

Something must have flipped a switch because my reach through hashtags went from 10-15 (obviously throttled) to 1.8k on the next post I made.

So I guess even a mild approach to the strats in that blog seems to be showing results. I'll be messing around a bit more with playing by their rules.
>>
>>10525938
I haven't even said anything against women tho? You're bringing that into the conversation yourself? I'm a cis girl but I doubt you'd believe me over this victim complex I'm picking up on over here

>>
One thing I don’t get about IG. Plenty of cute lolitas who get talked about here (positively or negatively, point is they’re known) and are active in the community have less than 2000 followers. But then I see totally random teenagers with low quality photos that don’t belong to any niche with 2-4K followers. How does that happen?
>>
Idk if I’m just retarded and can’t figure it out but how the fuck do you take good coord shots?? I usually do mirror pictures and self timers but the angle is never right and you can’t always see everything clearly.
>>
>>10536275
I make someone else who is good at getting angles take mine somewhere well lit, usually outside. My house is dark with yellow lighting so taking them when the sun is out against a decent background is best

>>
>>10536273
If their Likes are far far lower than whatever thousands of followers they have they probably bought some bot followers. I know people that used to do that, it never boosted their likes.
