ITT: Characters you've always wanted to cosplay, but know you wouldn't be able to pull off. Also, that's a lot of cleavage for me.
>>10454248Buy or make a fake breast plate. I doubt many people would try to cosplay this without one.
I'd love to cosplay Amir from Bride's Story, but the vast amount of embroidery is way beyond my skill level.
>>10454248My favorite characters (Casca, Anthy, Athena from Aria) are dark skinned and I'm not.I'd rather see accurate cosplays.
>>10454385I remember I read somewhere something that goes along the line of "Every person has one character that they can cosplay perfectly". I fear the one for me is someone that I will hate, since I cosplay characters that I really like.
>>10454398This is why I don’t care about “accuracy.” Often people who find their “perfect character” become one trick ponies who just cosplay one character for the “uwu u are like them in real life!!” attention. Just cosplaying what you like and feel comfortable in like you are already doing is preferable i m o
I really want to do sailor SaturnBut as a tall black chick, I'd be a much better pluto especially of i want to do a group shoot
>>10454633sailor moon would tell you to cosplay as sailor moon in this situation, i feel.
>>10454664*saturn, my bad. i just mean they're pretty wholesome characters, so they'd tell you to follow your heart~ and such.
>>10454248I'm too lumpy for her, but man if I could find the self-discipline to tone my body I know I could have fun. Also, I think I'd pass away on the spot from showing that much skin, but I've always dreamed of finding a work around that like mesh or slightly altering the design. Alas, until that miracle happens I will just appreciate her as artwork.
>>10454633I agree with the other anon, Usagi would cheer you on. I understand how wanting to protect your spot in a group shot can affect your decision though. It's a shame that you even have to worry about that. Groups can be so catty, it's unfortunate. I hope you find a group of girls that really embody the senshi attitude and hype your Saturn up.
>>10454403This. The techniques to create such a drastic transformation to become someone who looks nothing like you is part of the fun anyway.
>>10454809wear a flesh-tone suit under the main pieces of the suit
>>10454828That's not a bad idea! Do you think it would take away from the costume?
I'm the sort of pale that looks dead awful with pale blonde/white wigs, so this won't ever happen. Maybe one day I'll find someone who'll let me make her for them, and I'll make Nono to match.>>10454353If you ever do pick her up, some advice from someone that started to make her and then realised that they hate long and short stitch, working with embroidery materials that aren't DMC threads is a good idea, and will save you so much time.
>>10454248literally almost any and every character because I'm just too fucking bizarrely proportioned and irreparably ugly
>>10454385Same, a lot of my favorite characters in media are dark skinned and I'm very light skin/ often the wrong undertone. I almost feel like it's even more of an issue when the skintone is a huge factor in a simple charadesign.
>>10454633I feel ya. I've always wanted to do a knock down amazing Serenity dress. But I'm black and tall and now old so I am like....mehBut let me tell you one thing. Don't be like me and wait.Do it.Do such a beautiful job with the wig, accessories, and tailoring that you are the best Saturn. Cause it is all kinds of awesome when you show up to a group shoot looking immaculate despite not being a perfect body match.People admire that shit and the high you will feel from it will encourage you to try more costumes you think don't suit you.Characters I'd do but would never be able to pull it off:Ignis - FFXV9S - Nier
>>10454385>>10454916Who cares? Dark skinned people cosplay as light skinned characters all the time.
>>10454973>>10454916Make a kickass cosplay and go for it. I’d rather see talented cosplayers who are passionate about the character they cosplay than screen accurate cosplayers wearing something because it fits their look any day
I'm too muscular an fat for him. >_<
>>10454385>>10454916just do blackface lmao
If I was a girl, I'd make the mech body with myself coming out of it.
>>10454858She's amazing. Could you modify the color of the wig a bit to suit your skin tone better? Either hand coloring it or just having it in an ashy shade of pale blonde perhaps? You should totally make Nono if you don't do this one. Diebuster is so fantastic and there's not enough cosplay from it.
>>10454248Any JoJo character since I'm a manlet.
>>10455030Koichi was made for you.
Sadly I am a guy and I have a fat frog face so I know I wouldn't be able to do any justice to her
>>10455030>>10455051Please anon. Koichi. Serve
>>10454843It's what a majority of cosplayers do for her decode outfit, imo it's never a bad idea to wear something that smooths out skin coloration differences. I also don't think it'll change much of the design to make the back and front pieces connect at the sides with a white part, like how the original birdy design has. you could also connect them with side pieces that are a transparent version of whatever material the back/front pieces are so it "looks" like they're separate, but aren'tI really like birdy, the decode design, and the show, I'd love to see more cosplays of it!
>>10454809I've seen people suggest building onto a dancer's bodysuit like the other anon mentioned. I'm also too lumpy for Birdy, but I'd love to cosplay her.
I don't have the drive to make it nor the funds to commission it.
>>10455092>>10455103Thank you for talking it through with me, anons. I really feel inspired to reconsider cosplaying her. I hope if I ever do that you get to see a picture!
>>10455051>>10455030There is also Shigechi. And maybe Narancia?
>>10454897>almost anyWho can/have you cosplay/ed?
No one would call me fat but I’m not stick skinny either so I feel awkward cosplaying most characters
>>10455508Just remember that the average cosplayer is too self-conscious about themselves to really pay that much attention to anyone else's cosplay unless they're really good or really bad.
>>10455257What is this from? Such a cool design. You might not have the drive or $$$ atm but that could change in the future! Hope you're one day able to do it
>>10455487only one trap as a "haha meme" and one JoJo character. I feel like they're the only ones closest matching to my weird retard proportions, female or male, but even then they're either really beautiful or really expensive or really /fit/.
I mean, how do you cosplay a tall robot like that? Possibly speaking "human" versions would make me look like some weeb fan that is obsessed with the character and is cringe worthy.
Because I'm not a girl.
>>10456788you srs? 80% of touhou cosplayers are men.
>>10456624based zz cosplayer
Will probably be super uncomfortable to wear and too much damn work to make it not look like garbage.
Would be extremely cool. Would also be extremely difficult because I have zero experience with armor making.
>>10456788what matters in cosplay is your heart, not your dangling bits.
3 options>Get fat>Make a silicone fat suit>Become a heavyset powerlifterI could do a fit version of him, but what's the point?
>>10457638It's definitely not a beginner project, but honestly I think it's an awesome project to work towards. I know that I can't do my dream costume with my current skills but it encourages me to continue grinding to one day feel confident making it with my own two hands.
the wig scares me and I'm chubby girl. maybe if i lose some weight
>>10457801madara isn't especially lanky or anything and his armor covers it up, anyway. I think the wig is a bigger issue than the weight. do you actually intend to have a basho prop?
>>10457804true, and I'd like to. I'm not very experienced with prop making but it seems doable and would be a nice touch
I've always loved Raven. I'd love to cosplay as her. Alas, I'm a 6' 4" man trapped in eternal bear mode. And my petite girlfriend would bully me. Fuck, I just want to be sexy, god dammit.
>>10457805no clue myself. i agree it seems doable, not having any moving pieces and all. I'm not sure what kind of strap or holster or whatever you'd need to carry it on your back. I doubt you want to constantly hold it.
>>10457855>my petite girlfriend would bully merelationship goals
>>10457855Get a girlfriend that will support you
>>10457794Yeah it's really one of those "maybe one day" projects. At least I have access to a 3D printer and some 3D CAD skills, which should be helpful if I ever decide to try it.
>>10456788you could just do a gender bender of the charecter thats what i do sometimes
>>10457883yeah i'd definitely have to work something out or plan on only carrying it around the con for a while. the armor might make a harness or something like that problematic but i'm sure I could figure something out. I'm really considering trying to do this now that i'm thinking about it
How the fuck do you pull this off?
I want to cosplay Ahiru but I am neither cute nor graceful and the wig seems like it would be super hard to do.
Might go for this for Halloween. Everything seems (reasonably) easymodo except for the wig (Which I night commission) and green shorts. That and I’m (not too) fat for the cosplay.
>>10459903I cosplayed Ahiru for my first handmade costume and it was a really good experience even though my costume was shitty. I feel you on the gracefulness part. The wig was the least difficult part for me. The costume, specifically finding a tutu that wasn't too costumey but also not priced like a real ballerina's tutu was the hardest part. If you're ever up for a moderate challenge, I'd say it's definitely worth it to see the excited expressions of people recognizing what show you're from.
im not muscular enough to do her justice and my boobs are way too big for it to look accurate in the original outfit.
Someone already did an amazing version of this and I know I don't have the patience for the body paint, the arm needles, and I'm on the chubbier side so the tiddies would be a whole lot more KABLAM than I'd like... but damn if I don't love this game so much.
>>10459903I've always wanted someone to cosplay Ahiru and be purposefully shitty with ballet poses, like she is normally. /cgl/ used to be REALLY butthurt with Princess tutu cosplays
>>10457855Tell your girlfriend to go as Robin. That would be a cute couple cosplay!
Rackam from Granblue Fantasy is a cool dude, I want to cosplay him. Unfortunately, I have literally no experience with cosplay beyond the crappy cardboard Bionicle costumes I made as a kid. Doesn't help that the other stuff I want to cosplay (Monster Hunter and proper Bionicle cosplay) is significantly more complicated than this dude.A friend of mine recommended I start with something simple, like Splatoon, since that's what she did, but I kinda want to get experience making armor.
For three-fifths of a second I thought it might be possible as a two-man operation with a vertical prop, but there's just no way.
>>10460665What is this from, it looks hype
>>10460668Chainsaw Man, an ongoing manga in Weekly Shounen Jump.
>>10460665>not just using a zentai suit and affixing all the prop bits onto yourself and using a mask.
>>10457884>>10457891>>10460386Ya'll don't understand. She wants to be Raven instead so I can be her bara Starfire.
>>10460673How do you deal with having two whole bodies for legs?
>>10460683each side of them as one leg.
>>10460058>cgl/ used to be REALLY butthurt with Princess tutu cosplayswhy? because its hard to get right and the series is popular?
>>10460711No because balletfags would REEEE any time someone cosplayed Ahiru and it got really annoying
>>10456788have you heard of traps or trannies?
>>10460894or every other touhou cosplayer ever?
>>10460709But my legs don't have legs.
>>10460896you need to make them into props dude.
I don't do cosplay, but being Robotnik would be based.
>>10456788I think I've only ever seen 1 actual female 2hu cosplayer in my entire 7 years of going to cons. You've got nothing to worry about!
>>10460722this is so stupid lol imagine guys who are into martial arts complaining about naruto cosplayers
I'm a fat girl lmaoBut i love his design and character, and maybe i could have pulled it off with a muscle suit or something since i have a manly frame with wide shoulders and not a lot of hip/ass, but i quit cosplay long ago and can't really go back.
>>10461023It was absolutely the most autistic level of nitpicking for anyone that even dared to try even the slightest hint of a ballet pose
I've always wanted to cosplay sango from Inuyasha. I look nothing like her of course as a petite black woman. I know I would get questions of 'who are you' from people. And I won't make a fool out of myself.
Nanami from Utena. Blonde hair makes me look sickly and the braid would make my face look like a moon.
>>10462269>I know I would get questions of 'who are you' from people.I feel like either of Sango's outfits are very recognizable so this is less likely, but I get not wanting to deal with assholes.
>>10461096It was so bad. I’m in a similar sport and I can’t imagine being that cringe about people doing dress up play time. YOI icefags tried it for a sec and luckily shut up fast
>>10462269Fellow Sango stan and wannabe cosplayer, here. At first I was a little concerned about recognizability but I figure:>YashaHime is boosting fandom visibility >HUGE boomerang>mask>kirara plushAre enough of a signal that people will get it, regardless or race and size. If you are super concerned maybe find some friends to do other InuYasha characters
Bog King from Strange Magichis design just speaks to me in incalculable ways, but...I'm an average sized woman so heh only in my dreams
>>10462950Are you sure you're not just trying the wrong shades of blonde? You should be able to wear either warm tones or cool toned. A lot of blonde wigs have a warm yellow tone that doesn't look good on some skin tones.
>>10462269I think Sango wouldn't have any problems being recognized. She's a prominent character is a hugely popular series -- especially with women -- that is getting a new anime right now. Her design has multiple recognizable features, too. Making and holding the gigantic weapon might be difficult for you, but it will also make you more visible to be recognized.
>>10457788You don’t have to make a silicone suit. Most fat suits are comprised of stuffed cotton or spandex cushions that attach to the body. It’s fairly simple once you think of it as just making wearable pillows. The only thing you might have to worry about is facial prosthetics if you care a lot about that level of accuracy, but I think you’d be fine going without.
>>10454248im fit and have done boxing beforeim just not black lmao
I'd love to do Garp, be a baddass cannonball-slinging grandpa, but I'm a 5'11' sticc that looks 10 years younger than I really am while also not being that cute. Most of the time I want to crossplay as a cute girl, but sometimes I want to lean into my masculine side too, but I feel pretty hopeless attempting either. I'm stuck in a weird middle-ground where I'm only good for boyish characters like Luffy or Lelouch.
I could pull it off, but no-one would recognise meNor would I have a group large enough
>>10457245I made this a few years back and it was a lot of work and kind of a hassle to wear at the conBut hit me up if you want some tips! (or if you want to just buy it) I think I figured out a few things that I haven't seen in other tutorials that made it easier/better results
>>10466265you gotta have a Kafuka. Honestly i want to do Maria or Meru from szs, but a shoeless school girl isn't very recognizable by herself.Honestly a full group of SZS cosplayers is the actual dream
>>10466388Most cosplay problems go away if you have a group. That's why the pros clone themselves five or six times before a con.
>>10466388I bet there aren't even enough SZS fans for a whole class group
>>10466898What are you on about? It's an entry level show
Pretty much any larger male character. I'm lanky as fuck and even putting on muscle doesn't really compensate for the smol body structure. Oh well, at least there's lots of cool characters I can potentially do
>>10467758smol is justice.
>>10466903Maybe it was while airing
>>10467774Thank, I will just have to steady my resolve and embrace the lank
>>10460896>But my legs don't have legs.
>>10467758dress up as 9s and fuck me pls
>>10468056get em, anon!
>>10454353She's my dream cosplay. I just bought my second embroidery machine but whats stopping me is I'd want to get the best materials possible for her.Not just the goodwill bedsheets and curtains I usually use
the sheer amount of work involved, i dont think i would ever be motivated enough to finish
>>10454398i look fucking exaclty like REmake carlos if he was white and fat, swear to god
>>10468056>>10468064I uhhh..... Yeah, I could do that I guess
I truly WISH I could do Buffy Summers because she was so iconic to me growing up but desu I don’t even know how I’d make her recognisable and plus nobody would give a single shit
>>10468596Buffy might not be popular to the general public anymore, but in the echo-chamber that is a convention hall, there will be plenty of Buffy fans. Making her stand out would be pretty difficult if you're buy yourself, but a group cosplay could solve that.
>>10460389Buy some of the stuff from kamui cosplay. She teaches you how to make armor very easily. She has YouTube vids and an insta. Start there. Goodluck
>>10468097Based necron bro
So what's the status on intentionally poorly done crossplay? Have tr*nnies ruined it or....?
>>10470659it was never good to begin with :)
>>10456158nta, but that's Atoli (G.U.) from .hack//G.U.
It's not an issue of body type, my body would actually be great for Bayonetta. But it's the fact that her costume is so insanely detailed and I would want to use real leather, real human hair, the works. And due to how form-fitting her outfit is, I would have to use a soft, stretchy leather like kidskin, lambskin, or calfskin which means embossing would be a fucking nightmare, not to mention I would need a lot of skins to make the whole bodysuit and I might have to put seams in weird places like the middle of the legs
>>10473405this reads like a cope to me. or you are just too autistic to cosplay properly, considering this isn't as complicated as you think.
>>10473405>real leather, real human hairyou sound like a complete beginner. go do your research, agree with >>10473420
>>10473421>>10473420>>10473420NAYRT Bayo is not an easy (or cheap/fast) cosplay, you two are weird
>>10473775that's not the implication, anon. the op is fucking dumb.
I'm a 6'3" bear-ish dude. I'd probably have to lose 30lbs before even thinking about it.
I have no problem with crossplay in principle, but it just feels wrong with Fran.
>>10454385>>10454980>>10454916>>10465320This is true as all get out. Dark skinned do lighter people all the time. We fucking love anime, but there seems to be this stigma that if lighter skinned people do it, then it's a problem. Fuck all that shit. If you like it, then do what you want. Admittedly, as a dark skinned, I tend to go after cosplays where I don't have to show too much skin if only because like >>10454385 said, I tend to treat cosplay like fighting games and get a little mad with myself if I'm not the right color lol
>tfw onionboy, dad bod male.>tfw want to do male versions of girl characters but not only do you not have the body for it but all the male versions are twink as hell or just female character but with a penis.Sometimes I do wish I was a girl cause it's far more exceptable and easier to do oppisite gender cosplays for any male character and you can do female characters.>>10459911Google green shorts. Buy blue fabric from store and cut out to flower, or blue fabric paint and paint it on. As for hair just grow it out, jell it up, and get pink hairspray in a can. Or just spray hair pink.
>>10457638>>10468097There is nothing wrong with "half assing" it. You'd be surprised how good things look and how many people will recongize you even if you aren't 100% spot on.
>>10474145Don't feel demotivated. I remember seeing a group of men at AX dressed as Sailor Scouts (as in the seafaring kind mashed with best girls) and they were immensely popular for photos. Also, I can't remember the name, but there's a famous tiktoker who is black, has a big fluffy beard, and cosplays characters like Froppy. He's pretty popular for it too. Whatever way you choose to interpret a female character's cosplay, I hope that it makes you feel happy and confident with your cosplay.
I don't know if this really counts or not but I would really like to cosplay some characters (like A2) but I don't really wanna wear anything skimpy.Don't know if that makes any sense, ik it sounds kinda counter-intuitive.
>>10475956No that makes total sense. There are some similar examples in this thread too like OP's post.
>>10466265You're an idiot because I've seen a handful of people cosplaying as him without any other SZS in the group, and I recognize him no problem.
>>10454248Someone with fake tits could probably pull that off.
I think this one would be hard to make and harder to make not look stupid.
>>10478294This looks like the perfect cosplay for a master level crafter. You're right, it would need a lot of work to actually look good.

Seriously considering cosplaying Shiki from Samurai Shodown, but I'm a fatty and apparently they don't make toric lenses in red.

Definitely Riliane from the Evillious Chronicles series. The only problem is that I’m not used to wearing dresses.

Difficult to bring myself to cosplay something that would be a bit obscure. The series is nothing flashy and from what I know not many read it, but god did I love it.
I have this physique but I would be too embarrased walking around like this.I'd also be paranoid about the skin color rubbing off.

I wish I could cosplay as Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell. I'd want to cosplay as one of these two [or three, as one is a maybe] versions:- most of the variants of 1989 manga vol.1/1.5 Motoko (pic related, would be one of the versions i'd want to cosplay as the most)- the 1995 film adaptation version of Motoko- [maybe] the Stand Alone Complex (season 1) version of MotokoThe only issues are that 1. I'm a guy2. I have really hairy legs (when I was in 9th grade, my dad compared my legs to that of the legs of a hobbit. "hobbit knees")3. No idea how I'd change the sound of my voice to sound like a milf (not entirely necessary, but if its possible then id want to just because i could)4. I have facial hair and small amounts of neck hair, and slightly bushier-than-average eyebrowsI could potentially make it work with my height, not sure if any of you would disagree. I'm 5'7" (170cm for the anons that use metric). I am not fat either, and my weight is somewhere between 122-130 lbs, so my physique isn't too bad. I have good hips, although I'd need to lose a bit of fat on my torso, thighs, and some of the fat around the area where my soleus muscle is located.I also dont own anything to make the cosplay, nor do i have a wig for it :(
>>10494418looking good. can't wait to see it all come together.

>>10495200Delthea is a great girl though, anon. I don't think I've seen many cosplays of her so you should go for it!
>>10468596I love buffy and guarantee you can make recognizable buffy cosplays. Get a good wig, pick one of her more iconic outfits (the red and black one and prophecy girl work well), and have a prop like a stake or that battle ax thing she had
>>10495193ive never seen or heard of Galgrease or Greaseberry.I'm a big fan of GITS and I've watched everything in the franchise, and read the original 3 volumes of the manga, so I'm well-acquainted with franchise. I find that to be an important factor as well.I might be able to pull off something like the Motoko shown in attached pic, as it hardly shows any skin, which might eliminate the issue related to having lots of hair on my arms and legs.I just have no idea how I could make my face look feminine enough, and my eyebrows are an issue as well. No idea where I'd get the cosplay either, and I have zero knowledge on how to make clothing and props. I might make a thread about my issue laterpic related btw
