Thanks for the new thread!

When I saw the teaser I was sure I was going to buy, but now that the pictures are up I’m not so sure.

I’m very interested in this new model though, she looks very... high fashion
>>
>>10448158
Same. I was low-key hoping that this release would be a wool-blend for A/W. But looking at pictures now the OP and jacket are weirdly boxy on the model.
>>
>>10448185
Agreed, it looked I suppose daintier in the teaser pic. Maybe a high collar was too much, the OP really overpowers the models.
The jacket would be nicer as well if it wasn’t so weirdly cut and long.

A nice versatile blouse though, if I didn’t have so much in japan post purgatory already I’d get one
>>
>>10448139
I love it, specially the skirt!
Hope I get a job in time to order one of these.
>>
>>10448139
It looks nice on the mannequins but not the models. Considering I'm larger than the models this will probably look like shit on me.

Disneyland Shanghai is releasing Duffy lolita dresses. I'm seriously jealous of how mainstream lolita is in China.

This is the first one I'm skipping in a while. I have been ridiculously loyal to them but this time I'm not feeling the poly very much. It's a pity because I really love the buttons on the skirt! I'm really hoping they release that one dress Misako was wearing soon.
>>
>>10448318
Same! I was surprised they didn’t release this one first because it’s more Spring Summer than Autumn Winter.

I’m low key glad I don’t like the check release because I’ll save money for this one
>>
>>10448314
I would be happy if we would just get the Duffy and friends mascots. I looked everywhere for one of them for a friend, couldn't find it and just ended up wanting one too
>>
>>10448158
the bangs... no
>>
>>10448139
The cut of the skirt is beautiful, but I’m really not liking the fabric, even though it’s been inspired by tweed riding habits. A version in black would look nice probably. I agree though there is something off about the cut of the OP especially, it’s just not flattering at all on the model. I’d say the waist looks too high on her, the bodice too short, resulting in the boxiness. I’ve no issues with the length on the jacket though.

Wtf...?

This is so weird. Before the Lor vid/shoutout no one cares about Elegy being PoC owned, it was just decdnt pieces, and now this white person is trying to advertise the owner's race to help sell their item. Feels icky to me as a black person and irrelevant to the sale of the item.
>>
>>10448478
Ok whatever but did you see this bitch’s crazy prices? I wish I had the balls to call her out in the comments.
>>
>>10448485
>Flaunting maker's race so she can charge twice what the maker is charging
That's pretty fucking gross.
>>
>>10448485
the worst part is people are actually buying it
>>
>>10448485
I can’t believe some idiot actually paid that much for it.
>>
>>10448485
I may or may not have sent that screenshot to elegy's email...
>>
>>10448504
Okay? I think it’s a shitty thing to do too but what are they supposed to do about it? Reselling for a higher price is not illegal.
>>
>>10448478
>>10448485
I was laughing at the fact she had the headdress tagged as plus and tall Lolita friendly. Just because it fits on your head and fat people can wear it, doesn’t make it “plus size friendly”
>>
>>10448508
I’ve seen listings that check every one of the sizing notes and I wonder if people even know what they mean.
>>
>>10448507
I feel like I would want to know if people were reselling something I had made to be more expensive than it originally was.
I know she's not claiming she made it, but this girl is taking advantage of the fact that Elegy put their shop on hiatus.
An increase of $25 on an indie brand is a lot especially if you're not going to include shipping.
>>
>>10448504
So you can send an email to the company but you can’t even comment on the listing? Pusys
>>
>>10448524
Thought about it but I’m not gonna go white knighting a brand I’ve never bought or worn. Besides, I can’t get banned from LM. Need my burando...
>>
>>10448478
This is so gross, especially because she’s trying to get in on the “support poc business” drive, but she’s selling secondhand so nobody who buys from her is supporting the brand. And the prices! This is the shadiest behaviour
>>
>>10448508

It's like those memes about an usakumya being tagged plus friendly. No shit lol it doesn't need to fit on your body. It's basically tag spamming when people do it for items like that.

But yeah I think it's good someone sent it to her. People complain about pricey indie but she is great from my communication with her and I love some of her simpler pieces and headwear; this performative social justice bullshit while directly making a profit off of the hard work of a black creator whose race they're using to help scalp their items is just disgusting.

I bet she was one of those girls who posted "BLM silence is violence" for two weeks and then stopped caring when she couldn't get likes for it anymore. Also no one "accidentally" buys two pieces from a shop like that? Maybe I'd believe it from a brand release if you did lottery for multiple locations or during a bloodbath had two computers in case your cart got booted but I highly doubt they bought two on accident.

Either way this person is blacklisted from my buy or sell list permanently now. I would comment on LM but don't want to get reposted here cause anytime listing comments are interesting or call a seller out they get posted to cgl
>>
>>10448485
here you go, coward. it's just a LM listing.
>>
>>10448570
she also PMed me. I told her that her overpaying for something doesn't mean it's worth that much.
>>
>>10448571
Why do people think just because they overpaid everyone else will too? Just because you’re a dumbass doesn’t mean we all are.
>>
>>10448571

This is clearly a lie she made up to seem pitiable and excuse her shit behavior
>>
>>10448570

I moreso wish the person commenting mentioned that she's using the fact that the creator is black as a marketing tool despite the fact she is white.
>>
>>10448485
This chick is a fucking nut job, I’m not surprised at all. I wouldn’t recommend buying or selling with her- she’ll blow up your inbox every 10 minutes with messages that are barely intelligible because of how bad she writes.
>>
>>10448136
As someone who used to ride I really really like the riding habit influenced feel of this. Anyone know any other pieces with equestrian influences?
>>
>>10448578
but they do >>10448496
so it is worth that much.

>>10448552
>no one "accidentally" buys two pieces
I've actually done that with custom d&d minis since it takes a while to manufacture them. Ordered a mini, forgot, and ordered it again.

advertising it as poc is kind of cringe though
>>
>>10448578
I don't know this person so don't think I'm trying to WK her, but people are allowed to list their stuff for however much they want. If it's really that overpriced they'll learn that they have to discount it in order to sell. I don't get why you all get so mad about it lmao just move on.
>>
>>10448608

The reason I even posted her wasn't the price, it was her cringe decision to advertise the brand being black woman owned as a way to sell her piece.

Just feels like slimy superficial wokeness as a means to an end.
>>
>>10448580
fair, I should've because it is gross but overall I'm more annoyed long term about people selling shit for more than they bought it for
>>
>>10448621
People being obsessed with high resale value and trying to profit as much as they can off selling old pieces is killing the secondhand market and emboldening scalpers.

But I guess that's how things are and we should all just get used to it.
>>
I just got my Meta GW lucky pack in the mail.
In addition to My Dear Friends bustle dress and a bunch of accessories, they also put in the dreamy egg jsk lucky pack.
Meta going full Xzibit
for 20,000 yen ( I used account points) i got
2 dresses
1 KC
1 pair of hair clips
4 pairs of socks
1 jacket/blazer
Meta being based as always
>>
>>10448602
That's a newbie mistake. Not how much it's actually worth. They are just taking advantage of people's naivety.
>>
>>10448629
That's such a great deal, wow. I feel like their lucky packs tend to go under the radar.
>>
>>10448552
>Also no one "accidentally" buys two pieces from a shop like that?
You haven't seen my drunk AliExpress purchases, I've bought so so many duplicates
>>
>>10448645
As long as the "meta bad" memes prevail I think that it will continue to do so.
I did the math and it was about 80,000 yen worth of stuff in the bag?
The my dear friends dress and matching socks are probably the stuff i am most hype about. That alone was worth the original cost of the pack.
>>
>>10448552
you know most people saying they accidentally bought duplicates probably just asked multiple SS for the item. a lot of us use multiple SS to increase our chances of getting the release and while most of the time only one gets it sometimes more than one do.
>>
>>10448675

Elegy doesn't need an SS to buy from though, and neither do most western indie. My point was buying from western indie it makes no sense to accidentally buy or request two from SS or anything. Plus for one item she says she got two by mistake but also suddenly also is selling the other from the same brand in new condition sold to her for her roommate to buy food?

She is clearly pulling it out of her ass. Like I said buying multiples from brand in a bloodbath or something makes sense and so does requesting multiples from SS but in her case she is just being shady all around.
>>
>>10448314
>>10448315
I don't care much for Duffy, but I hope they'll release some dresses with actual Disney characters some time. These designs are cute.
>>
>>10448315
This dress has been around for months
>>
>>10448629
I'm looking forward to mine being free from shipping hell. "Meta bad" memes just means less bloodbaths for the rest of us
>>
>>10448902
Post what you got when you get it! I wanna see how it compares.
>>
Anyone assign certain scents to your coords? Like strawberry for strawberry prints, chocolate for chocolate prints? Am I autistic for wanting to do this?
>>
>>10448986
Aw that actually sounds really cute.
>>
>>10448992
I've been going through Black Phoniex Alchemy Lab and while browsing, I started thinking of which scents would go with which of my dresses. Got a strawberry+cherry blossom print coming in and was wondering what that would smell like.
>>
>>10448986
Yeah, for me it's just one scent though. Bath and Body Works Pink Chiffon.
>>
>>10448986

I wear mostly sweet lolita but I always wear vanilla scented perfume. Bath & Body Works Vanilla Bean Noelle. The scent varies every year these days but for first batch I tried years ago, it smelled like cookies and people literally thought I'd brought sweets with me when I'd walk into a room. I also sometimes mix my own scents with strawberry and vanilla fragrance in the summer when I want to smell more fruity.
>>
>>10449015
Sounds delicious. I think it pairs well with sweet coords
>>10449002
I haven't tried that one but now I'll have to check it out. Having a signature scent sounds cool too.
>>
>>10448986
Based, I have a lot of food/sweet themed perfumes and I always pair them with my looks even when they're not lolita. Really adds that extra spark. I think the most expensive perfume I own is Hypnotic Poison by Dior, it's sweet vanilla heaven. I even have a perfume that smells of jellybeans, but I'm not really fond of the smell of jellybeans so I never wear it. Strangely I don't have a strawberry scented perfume despite most of my items being strawberry themed, I just think strawberry perfumes are hard to find in general.
>>
>>10448986
I like to use vanilla for my classical coords and a fresher floral for my goth ones. Maybe I should use the floral one with classical because of all the floral print, but I just think classical is very sweet vanilla compared to my usual style if that makes any sense.
>>
>>10448994
I love Black Pheonix Alchemy Lab! Their themes make my little goth heart so happy :) I immediately think of Dorian (unisex vanilla and tea scent) as a very fitting scent for lolita.
There's also one called Rose Cross, which I haven't tried, but sounds like it should go with MMM
>>
Has lacemarket been slow for anyone else lately? The pictures sometimes don’t load. This has been happening to me for several days tested on two different connections..

I’ve had trouble today, when I open a listing I get “We’re sorry, but something went wrong”
>>

Yeah, can't open listings and the stuff I'm selling has been on 0 views despite people apparently adding them to their watchlist.
>>
lace market down?
>>
>>10449169
That's funny. I wear a heavy, musky gourmand like Angel, Alien, Euphoria, or Jo Malone oud with goth, and light florals or aquatic with classic and sweet. I really need more aquatic smells, I used up all I had and it sucks wearing gourmands in summer
>>
>>10449496
yep seems like it
wonder what it is now
>>
For everyone that's still spending way too much time at home... Are you doing anything to tweak or improve your Lolita wardrobe now that you have the time to invest in "silly things" ? I'm converting a bodyline jsk into an apron.
>>
>>10449556
I’m just buying too much stuff. What you’re suggesting sounds great though, I really should get crafty now that I’m home all day. Any anons have ideas for fun projects or things to do?
>>
>>10449569

I've been buying cheap OnS books here and there when I find them and making it a goal to make one of everything I like in the book so I can test all the patterns I want out and resize them to fit my bust. Also crafting little rings and other small accessories has been fun.
>>
>>10449569
I made a skirt for the first time out of an old dress I kept from junior high school solely for the print.

It sucked. But it was still a good learning experience. It's wearable if I cover the waist with a belt.
>>
>>10449503
Is there any way to report errors on the site to let them know there’s an issue? I have auctions ending that people are getting cheated out of bidding on and that doesn’t make me happy.
>>
>>10449598
Never mind, it appears to be back,
>>
Anyone have Meta’s Angelic Heaven Clerical JSK?
I’ve gotten interested in it but the bust measurements are posted as 88cm, but it looks like there’s some shirring though I can’t tell if it’ll be enough for my 95cm bust to squeeze in.
Thanks for any help
>>
>>10449556
I'm doing a lot of sewing, but it's just been main pieces when I really need to make more blouses
>>
What's the best alternative to LM for selling? I don't like a lot of things about it
>>
>>10449556
I’m sewing a lot. Honestly some of the stuff I might end up giving away or selling at a swap meet, whenever it’s safe to do those again, because not everything I made fits my wardrobe or style, but it sure has been fun experimenting with various designs and patterns. I’m not a sweet, but I really enjoy sewing sweet pieces. Maybe I’m weird. Is anyone else like that?
>>
>>10449670
I really don't think there is one, unfortunately. I've heard people use Facebook groups but they have their downsides as well.
>>
Did anyone see that after the Moitie tablier debacle, Baroque is now looking for reviewers to proof that their quality isn't that bad?

If only they put that energy into better quality checks instead.
>>
>>10449636

Can totally relate; I always make main pieces and accessories when I know I need to be sewing blouses more than anything because it's hard to find ones for my bust in my style.

I'll literally buy fabric specifically for blouses but for some reason never get around to it and just rewear my brand blouses or cutsews.
>>
>>10449728
What was wrong with the tabliers? Mine seemed fine, but maybe I got lucky. I also have one of their winter coats and it's great.
>>
>>10449768
Some came with defects like small holes, it’s on rc if you want more info and pics

It looks like a minority because they sold very well and I only have seen a few people say something but it’s still annoying.
>>
>>10449728
It is sad they have to do this. I have dresses from their earlier releases and there quality is normally good.
>>
any pretty floor-length white dresses/jsks? you can probably guess why :3

I always thought that their quality was great, but I haven't shopped there in a few years. Why are they connected with Moitie?
>>
>>10450127

I think it was those aprons, right?
>>
>>10450127
They just did a collab item, that’s all.
>>
>>10450127
Theyre actually infamous in the Korean community for having terrible quality, a lot of them avoid buying from her. If you read the Rufflechat thread you can see that there are a bunch of issues like holes in the tabliers, different lengths and one girl even got one with laces of different colors.
It's a huge mess.
The owner commented but she only have an excuse about how QC was so hard, without even trying to make amends.
>>
>>10450194
it's always korean brands that are like this.
>>
>>10448478
>PoC owned
Girl we are in a Japanese fashion community, it’s all PoC owned
>>
>>10450196
Don't drag Lief down with Baroque, lief has always been really quick to address any issues I've had with their items.
>>
>>10450216
Japanese in Japan aren't really considered PoC though, they're only PoC in the context of America.
>>
>>10450216
sjws don't consider east asians to be poc, because east asians are successful and do well for themselves
>>
>>10448986
Yes! But I sorta do it by style. Rose Mallow Cream by Solstice Scents for hime, Mina Harker by Sixteen92 for classic, Sea of Grey by SS for sailor, Winternignts by Arcana Wildcraft for Christmas coords (basically all of December is Christmas coords lol)
>>

They are still PoC, AKA non white. They're just the majority in their own country.

I'm not referring to person doing the listing? My post was about how weird it is to refer to Japanese brands as PoC owned.
>>10450307
That's my point, Japanese don't consider themselves as PoC because they're not viewing themselves in relation to white people.
>>10450309
Uh I agree with you completely anon, sorry if it didn't come across too well.
>>
Why is lacemarket so fucking slow
>>
>>10450433

Not as weird as 2019 (before BLM) when people were all like "support PoC and women owned indie uwu!" and were recommending shops almost all solely owned by white women.
>>
>>10449728
>>10449769

To be honest though, it must suck to be the person that gets stiffed with the one with small holes and defects.

I kind of agree with the person saying they should just do better quality control before sending items out, these things aren't cheap enough that I'd accept it as some kind of gacha game with a "minority" chance of getting a "minorly defective" item.
>>
Anybody know how to get in contact with the Kei / Vintage market mods? Are they not the same as the EGL Circlly mods??
>>
>>10450493

If course in jfashion brands/indie in the west most will be women owned. That's a dumb thing to call for in a female dominant community. The PoC thing I guess is fine since indie implies non Japanese and therefore people who are likely the minority in their country if it's western brand. I generally just think we should support GOOD brands and brands should do their best to support each other on quality and when they can, ethics. Elegy is great, not because she is PoC but because she has nice products people like. Puvithel is PoC and her shit sucks ass.
>>
>>10450493

BLM was around and a thing long before 2019, friendo.
>>
>>10450389
Polyester is cheap, real wool is expensive.
>>
>>10450520

It's deliberately daft to argue in 2019 it was anywhere near what it is trending now, and that no one gave a shit about poc except when it's for clout.
>>
>>10450552

It is trending more because white people finally found out they can get clout in literally almost any non boomer social circle for it but people still cared despite not knowing about or publicly supporting BLM.

Anyway BLM has little to do with the support PoC or women owned business thing. For women anyway they whole "girls supporting girls" thing was around and it's own thing
>>
>>10450556
No, they didn't. I didn't see any of these poc owned shops recced until now.
>>
>>10450538
It's not THAT much more expensive. The OP and jacket are already about $400, Sparks will sell you a wool blend tweed jacket for like £70. Hell, ASOS sells Harris tweed stuff for £40-£100, the design is shit obviously but it's pure new wool, which is the point.

Not neccesarily these particular shops but old where you've been if you haven't seen support women business and support small business stuff before 2020 unless you exclusively buy fast fashion new or don't use social media much?
>>
>>10450520
no one cared about it back then except black people tho. huge difference now
>>
>>10450603
are you from outside of the US or something? this isn't true at all. it's been a big thing for black and white people since about 2014 when recording and posting police brutality became huge.
>>
>>10450389
Possibly couldn’t trust people to launder a 100% wool dress correctly (polyester in general seems popular in Japan because it’s low maintenance).
>>
>>10450605
i'm in the us and no, it was never huge like this. it blew up to crazy proportions just this year where white people had to say something about it publicly or were labeled as racists for not doing so. nobody was making lists of poc lolita shops or whatever before, there was no blackout day of silence across groups or any of that shit before. and let's be real, the only reason it blew up this year is because people were bored on quarantine and just wanted something to do
>>
>>10450608
I’m from the EU and BLM was big everywhere in 2014 and 15 but I agree it set the groundwork for a lot of what we’re seeing now. If 2014 never happened 2020 would have had a lot more work to get the attention we see now. I understand if you weren’t particularly interested at the time, but a lot of what we’re seeing this year is exactly what happened 5 years ago, including promoting black business.

However the social media scene then and now can’t be compared so we are definitely seeing more online engagement. Things like blackouts aren’t new, but now it’s everyone doing it because the internet has become more diffuse
>>
>>10450590

If you don't see the irony of people saying "support poc" then providing lists of nearly all white small businesses idk what to tell you.
>>
>>10450615

I'm not saying it's not ironic, I was never saying that. If anything I was pointing out the fact that the "support women businesses" thing is redundant because most jfashion businesses are women owned.

Of course using white shops to promote supporting PoC is dumb and ironic. I was never arguing against that.
>>
>>10450587
You're confusing acrylic for wool. If you're buying it cheap, then it's acrylic
>>

>>
>>10450395
Congrats on being a monolingual loser
>>
>>10450611
I’m from the EU too and I think it depends on the country. The only reason I knew anything about BLM back then was because I was active on tumblr. I never saw anything about it outside of online social justice spaces and practically no one I talked to outside of those spaces had even heard about it. The notion that people outside of the US should speak up or be deemed racist is definitely a new one.
>>
>>10450979
I think it definitely depends on the country, but I’m surprised US anon didn’t recall how big BLM was at the time.

I haven’t seen anyone in my country accused of being racist for not posting about it or whatever (i myself haven’t posted anything) but it’s in the public mind and people talk about it. I think social media these days is complicated, because if someone says it’s racist not to post anything (as an example), it doesn’t mean anything and nothing happens. a lot if people won’t think so but they won’t be the ones you see. I hope that makes sense.
It’s my general complaint about the internet these days, it’s not as serious as it feels
>>
Has anyone had any luck buying from indie jp hat designers? They always release short notice and sell out so quickly I can never get an ss to grab one.
>>
>>10450991
Sometimes the shop that shares AP USA's storefront, Harajuku Hearts, carries Coco & Ami hats. Right now there's only one, but sometimes I notice they get in a pile and it's no consistent with what's "in season", meaning sometimes they get a bunch of old stock and sometimes they'll get upcoming stuff slightly early. They also carry Enchantlic Enchantilly Berets sometimes, again I think there's like one right now.
>>
>>10450991

Atelier Pierrot always seems well-stocked, including Coco & Ami, Morun x Muuna Stoik, and a couple of other indie brands (they do also carry Violet Fane and Lief so it's up to you to check the background of the brand you're purchasing if you pretty strictly only want Japanese indie, though).

I guess if there's a specific sought-after brand you're after, some of them can sell pretty fast. I've never been able to buy Caramel Ribbon jewellery either, always wake up to an announcement some time in the night and everything already sold out.

Does anyone else have a recent Yamato order that when you click the "details" button you get "No Record Found"?
This is the 6th time I've gotten something through them and I haven't had this error previously?
Last update was that it was it cleared customs on August 4th at 10:12 PM Japan time
Maybe this is normal and I'm just especially impatient? But given the time lines of my other shipments, this seems unlikely?
>>
>>10451006
I'm getting this too, but it's my first time using them. I assumed since it says to use the Details button for international orders yet that it just hadn't made it fully into the country yet. Like customs has one last slap on the ass to give before it giddyups out into freedom sunshine. I'm a bit sleep deprived

Why does no one else care about matching metals it seems??? How are there so many heathens walking around with silver necklaces and brass buttons
>>
>>10451218
I care about that. I thought everyone did?
>>
>>10451218
I care in theory, but I don't care too much to actually implement it. I always wear a silver necklace of sentimental value under everything I wear (it's rarely visible in lolita) but I hate other, heavier jewellery with a passion. So I guess I get round it by rarely wearing jewellery aside from to events.
>>
>>10451006
I wish I asked this question here now, instead of bothering my SS lol.

I had the same thing happen. It looks like it was some kind of weird delay or system error. In the past, as soon as the "Details" button appeared, I'd get the local tracking number (UPS for me), and I've had at least 10 or so packages with Yamato now.

>August 4th at 10:12 PM Japan time
My package had this same customs scan and the Details page is finally working as of today. Bless it, because I want my Toy Doll Box MTO.

I wish likes on Lacemarket were public. I don’t care about seeing specific usernames, but it would be nice to know how many other people are interested in an item.
>>
>>10451304

The seller can see. Why does it matter who is interested though? So you know if you have competition? Or just in case you want to sell later?
>>
>>10451218
Because it’s stupid, you aren’t going to be able to match metals if you actually wore the clothes. No one has the time to find good accessories in the right colour and the right metal.

If you're into sugary sweet metals will rarely be all that visible except maybe bracelet chains, some BB&B stuff, and shoe buckles anyway right?

>>
>>10451218

Y'know, I did actually care when I started, but at some point when I started making coords I realised it doesn't actually make much difference. It's just way less important than making sure your jewellery goes well with your dress in the first place.
>>
>>10451462
Agreed...The site is horrible now. I'm left to think multiple people are botting. Load times were 3+ minutes for me and the pages crashed. Combine that with CC listing images under the wrong price/name/description and it was a complete cluster fuck.

It's not like I even debate what to buy. I literally load the page, click, and buy and I still fail 50% of the time. I don't read the condition or look at the price. This is completely new. In April I was able to buy two relatively popular AP JSKs one right after the other with no issues, each for less than $100.
>>
>>10451462
The secondhand market is literally killing lolita for me. It's not about having the money anymore, it's about being impossibly fast and still missing every time.
>>
>>10451465
I remember when having emails alerts set on Lacemarket actually meant something because you’d see them a few hours after posting and the dress was still there. Now everything good gets bought in seconds. You basically have to stalk the website like a crazy person to have any hope.
>>
>>10451467
It's the same thing on fril/mercari/cc/ww. There's not a lot of "safe havens" left and while I still love what I own, it's all making me stupidly depressed and I honestly feel like quitting. But I want to keep trying. It just hurts every time. I have money, sitting, and waiting, and I can't use any of it even when I'm going the extra mile to be on top of secondhand sites.

I'm glad I started buying things 5 years ago because if not, my current AP sweet wardrobe would be almost impossible to build now, and I'm not even trying to exaggerate.

>>
>>10451473
Most crossdressing vkei artists have been in the industry for decades so there’s plenty of rumors going around about types of women they like, hook up stories with fans etc. Sure, this is not straight up evidence, but there’s absolutely zero rumors about these guys being gay and that’s saying a lot.
>>
>>10451348

>>10451462
Has anyone been having issues with CC not sending emails properly? I bought something a week ago, and while I accidentally mistyped my email address, I let them know immediately and they updated my email. Problem is I’ve still not received a second confirmation email/ despatch notice. A couple of months ago I’d placed an order and they didn’t send me a tracking number until I requested it. Sod’s law as well that that item is now lost in transit somewhere with the tracking not having updated in over a month. That said that is a Japan Post issue.
>>
>>10451473
Androgyny is actually an attractive feature to Japanese. They think men with beards and 'male' features are gay, so their POV is quite the opposite to western standards.

Metals are a color in a coord for me and I don’t want to incorporate random ones unless it’s intentional. Something like this >>10451317 is fine because it’s a design element but this >>10451455 seems lazy. It feels like AP releasing turquoise and brown jewelry to go with Milky Planet to me.

If this is meant to be a comparison of then vs now, the Boz one at least is not a great comparison. Boz has barely changed at all, it’s kept extremely close to its roots, and is still rereleasing many of the same pieces.
>>
>>10451946
All due respect this isn’t a good comparison. Twinkle Ornament and Maiden’s Tutu aren’t anything alike, and this trend is in other brands shown too. To have a good comparison you need to at least try and match prints with similar themes, otherwise what the fuck are we comparing? Apples and oranges?

Like everyone else said this is really stupid choices to compare. The AP meme image uses dresses with similar prints from new and old. Try again, Boz and J et J have both rereleased exact copies of old dresses. It's AP, IW, and BTSSB that have changed their silhouette a lot.
>>
>>10451960
I’d say JetJ has changed a fair bit. Before around 2011 or so, when Armour d’Amants came out, the brand was much less prints heavy. That one piece really caused a shift in the brand.
>>
>>10451963
I don't disagree. J et J was an early adopter of prints. But they are rereleasing things the same over 10 years with very minimal changes. The beautiful chiffon petal dress is a good example
>>
>>10451946
VM is also a bad example, they also rerelease old pieces relatively often and the 2010 piece isn’t exactly an example of the standard at the time and the 2020 example is an underdress
>>
>>10451951
It's the only 2010 JSK on Lolibrary from Boz
>>
>>10451968
I really hope lolibrary get their listings back up soon, it’s so frustrating
>>
>>10451968
Eitherway, it’s still not a good comparison. I have much older pieces from Boz, and pieces from this year. The piece you’ve selected even for the this year release is an oddity. It’s like a mashup between some of their corset skirts and the necklines of their older, wide nun collar dresses, of which the Giulietta is the latest incarnation of.
>>
>>10451972
The photo wasn't meant to be a comparison by brand, actually. It was meant to try and find trends between brands. Like how skirts have universally become longer over time, or how the distinction between the A-line and cupcake shape seems to be disappearing.

If there's anything you feel unsatisfied about, you could always make your own comparison photo. Hell, if you're up for the challenge, you could do a timeline of every single Boz release by their release date.
>>
>>10451974
Well you really weren’t clear with that. You posted the photo without explanation or reasoning.
>>
>>10451974
I think this kind of exercise is fun, but i feel like you can be selective in choosing releases to match any argument. It might work better by choosing a sample of releases from one brand only.

Not trying to discredit your effort though, it was a fun idea and got some discussion going. I’d be interested in seeing more of this kind of thing

>>
>>10451986
What the fuck are you talking about? These are actual releases from different years, you can see the difference in cuts and materials. Lurk more, stupid
>>
>>10451976
Yes, because I was curious what /cgl/'s instincts are. I guess people are pretty concerned about the quality/style difference of a specific brand more so than seeing trends in the fashion as a whole. It makes sense, because people generally have one brand/substyle they keep up with and everything else just passes by.

>>10451977
Dresses were randomly picked to encourage a more holistic view of the fashion. Not that it worked though. Oh well.
>>
>>10451985
Even the aesthetic in the JetJ cat dresses is not gothic. It’s classic. Nothing in the styling here or the print is gothic.

>>10451988
They are from different years but that’s it. That isn’t how trends work because any year can have long and short cuts, some dresses are same cut styled with a different petti. Some materials were never common enough to be compared with.

We all know stock photos don’t accurately show the dresses too.

Nayrt but some girl on LM upthread was scalping indie for well over new price and using the fact that is was a PoC owned brand to advertise it/promote it in their listing even though while the Elegy owner is black, the seller on LM is a white girl so the brand owner was sort of irrelevant anyway.

I hate not having a matching bag, or coat for that matter. I’m a lonelita and it just feels weird to me to only consider half my outfit as important when I go out.

I guess if you mostly went to cons or meetups you could drop your bag or coat somewhere and only care about the rest, but in my life a random bag or coat is functionally the same as random shoes.

Shoes, for one. Prices for a good number of older items are missing too.

The items that were in between updates just had a list made so volunteers will be uploading those soon. Items that were released while they were offline is dependant on if volunteers saved the data and upload it. Nothing can be done about that.
Any older items you'll have to be more specific. It's all dependant on if a volunteer saved the info or not. If it was never in the DB, I don't know why you expect it to be "back up".

Shoes, I agree. Prices are stored differently so the info is at least still there. Maybe a list could help with that one too.

I was going to say that I do care until I read about buttons.

>I was going to say I do care about matching pinks until I realized you included pinks ON the dress

this isn't even comparable.

How? I’m not talking about tiny buttons that fasten the dress in the back or on the side. Buttons are often a huge design element in lolita and just ignoring them because you can’t take 2 seconds to choose a different piece of jewelry is lazy

maybe you are thinking of buttons across the chest and they are thinking of waist tie buttons?

What's up with the 68 cm skirts? I like the print & cut but I'm too short for the length to be flattering. They'd have my money otherwise.

I was thinking about buttons on a blouse or cardigan.
