Special set colors turned out really nice
>>
>>10443530
This is the ugliest dress I've ever seen. Looks like she's wearing a purple heart covered tarp.
>>
>>10443530
That dress is eating her...
>>
Why do itas insist on not wearing blouses and socks? Why do they get so mad when you point out that it isn't lolita without the essentials?
Why not call it something else, why do they need it to be lolita?
>>
>>10443530
That dress looks like something I'd see in a cosplay shop or on wish. How unfortunate.
>>
>>10443530
I like these little heart clips, but wouldn’t go through the hassle of ordering for such a tiny thing.
>>
>>10443537
So I guess this wasn’t limited to Paris after all. It’s cute but the fabric is already shit in photos. Imagine how much worse it will be in person.
>>
>>10443541
>>10443530

Their models are known to be too small for most of their releases, so no surprises she looks like she's being eaten.

I'm just surprised they'd post this shot rather than something from a front-on angle that would hide how big the dress is on her.
>>
Why do some girls post their wtbs and say shit like
"I know this dress has come up on secondhand market a lot but the listing is always too expensive!"
Like who the fuck do you think you are? Why would someone sell it to you for cheaper when they know they can get more for it from someone else? If its too expensive then suck it, thats the market price for it you dumb bitches.
>>
>>10443587
I hate this too. You’re not special, save up.
>>
>>10443587

If you really want to cringe you should see WTBs on depop; I made the mistake of searching there for an item I was looking for once and it's all WTBs and shitty replicas with the most whiny entitled captions...one girl literally called people "meanies" for not selling her AP wristcuffs below $30 (which she claims is the new price from the brand; little does she know depending on which store and after shipping it's definitely above that these days), and she cried about how she has been a lolita "for three years" and still has no AP wristcuffs.
>>
>>10443589
Right?
Like I hate the rising prices of AP sweet as much as anyone else but I'm not delusional enough to think that if I beg people will give it to me cheaper.
>>
>>10443590
Holy shit I wish we could collectively decide to separate from these whiney babies.
>>
>>10443580
That’s the limited long dress. The regular version is shorter.

I'm a huge brandwhore but this print and cut is just too cute. What do you guys think?
It looks to be of quality but maybe im wrong
>>
>>10443598

Maybe they want this version to actually look longer than their usual, then. Makes sense to pick the pic that looks too big on the model then.

>>10443603

Usually it's the print quality of taobao that lets it down. So long as you're only expecting to wear it only a year or two and then dispose of it (not sell it on -- the resale value for taobao is dismal) then there's no harm in getting it.
>>
>>10443623
Just a genuine question regarding quality vs taobao

Is it any better to buy a 8+ year old brand dress with a fading print?
I'm not asking sarcastically, im just on the fence because I buy mostly secondhand brand anyway and im not sure how long that would last.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl5ExrxWJpk
Horoscope Carnival does look better worn. It has this sorta misty darken feel about it and I like it.
>>
>>10443634
Depends on the print/dress. I have some printed burando from 2007 that look as crisp as the day they were released but some prints are notorious for fading. Overall Japanese brand prints are less prone to fading than cheap Taobao prints, but I’m sure there are exceptions.
>>
>>10443634
You should check about the printing method to evaluate if it is worth it. I wouldn't buy something with an already crackling or fading print, though.

Regarding Chinese brands, most poly pieces from nice brands have prints made out of the sublimation process, which is really durable.
>>
>>10443547
Why are you bringing this up in multiple threads?

Sorry you're an ita
>>

Are we going to start coddling itas who disregard important components of the fashion?

AP Paris is also doing a FPS MTO. Glad I got in for the Japan one though because with SS it'll be cheaper for me as an American and they will ship Yamato if EMS isn't back by next year. International shipping from anywhere but Canada (and DHL/Yamato from Asian countries) for me lately has been abysmally slow. Even if Japan's MTO release is delayed a month or two I'll still at least get it three days after it's sent.

>>
>>10443697

They fade but not much if they are high quality dyes/printing methods and are cared for well. People just need to learn to do their laundry properly. But there are pieces like Jewelry Jelly that were fucked from the start.
>>
>>10443705
Agreed. I'm not sure how popular or how hard it will be to get, since it's cute, but generic? I know I should just assume everything AP will be a bloodbath, but I have my fingers crossed like an idiot.
>>
Anyone bought dresses from Yupbro? How is the quality and fit? They have so many pre-orders up that I love, but I haven't heard anything about them.
>>
>>10443705
Where did you find this image, anon? It wasn't among the Dolly Heart announcement on the main website

>>10443719
It's posts like these that make me wonder if AP releases would be easier to get if we stopped spoonfeeding links to people here/FB/social media.

>>10443723
I'm aware that's the biggest issue, but even if 100 people gained awareness through this board or other social media, it makes it that much harder.

I'm just an old, salty lolita who gets tired of posting links over and over again and I've basically decided to stop.

Really? Do you have proof for that? My wardrobe is 1/3 Meta and I have things from 2000 to now, none of it has faded. I also have never seen a faded Meta piece once. The only faded and destroyed items I came across were from AP.

It's at the same place where ap always announce the weekly releases? On the front on the official Angelic Pretty website, underneath the news section

Also here's the necklace so I can contribute something else to thread whilst I'm at it

But I actually like this. And the top they are releasing. Too bad I can't do with this material. Hopefully the solid tops are not crappy poly.

are you washing your cotton dressed in hot water? that can cause fading. Using too harsh of a laundry detergent can also cause fading over time.
>>

oh god i love this. Would love actual lolita skirts too though.
>>
>>10443966
Yes, honestly, I think it's best to hand wash your clothes in cold water with a gentle detergent.

This is what I do with my dresses, though I understand it can be a hassle. You can wash them in a washing machine in cold water as well, if you prefer.

Just don't use hot water.

I recently got their tartan series and was impressed by the quality. I think it depends on where they source the fabric. Saying this, I'm really excited to see the cut of this as the pattern is so cute.
>>
>>10444232
>>10443991

Just want to mention folks should also keep them out of the sun, dry them indoors, don't use heat on your dryers. Don't use them as wall hanging if your room gets a lot of sunlight.

Not pointing fingers, just wanted to mention it since we're already discussing dress care. I do have one Meta dress that aged badly, but then it was a lucky pack dress to begin with, I always thought the quality on it on was lower than usual. The rest of my wardrobe includes other black Meta dresses, you can be sure they're still as black the day I received them so I'm pretty sure they didn't fade at all.

>>
>>10444768
Long one genuinely looks like an old woman's Easter dress or some shit
>>
>>10444768

I think the long length is universally hated but it's just a simple cute print if you ignore the awful trash material.

At this point it seems like AP makes their poly disgustingly shiny on purpose? Like they're going for a weird cheap satin effect? Otherwise I can't understand how they don't realize it looks bad. Yes lots of brands do poly but they have matte solids and prints and brands like Meta do have some poly with a sheen but not to the weird extent of AP's. It makes every AP release look like a reusable recycled grocery bag with how it reflects light at every angle...
>>
They're doing this to baby now?
>>
>>10444806
the crazy thing is that AP has used matte poly before so this must be a stylistic choice on their part.
>>
>>10444768
I love the print, it’s simple and cute. The fabric makes it trash though, literally.
>>
>>10444876

Damn, I guess AP designers just have shit taste.
>>
>>10444806
>>10444876

Agreed on the shiny dress, but it's just one release. AP thread is even still talking about Ice Cream Parlour, and that came out just earlier this same month, not last year, heck not even last month.

idk, either the trolls are out in force after the APfags moved to their own threads, or maybe the zoomers just have shorter attention spans. It's not like you can't find a whole slew of terrible burando releases over on wtf_burando and they still go back to making quality dresses afterwards.
>>
>>10445113
>and they still go back to making quality dresses afterwards
Not AP.
>>
>>10445113

Ice Cream Parlor isn't a terrible dress though. It is just made of terrible fabric. Just like Honey Cake and most other AP releases recently that are border prints; it all would have been better on cotton because the poly has a glare that looks bad and on top of that compromises some of the structure of the dress making things look more sad and droopy.
>>
>>10444806

I’m glad i sold all my ap and switched to baby
>>
>>10445189

I mean you probably got a lot of bang for your buck considering BABY usually goes for cheaper secondhand (and sometimes firsthand
since you can buy tax free from their Japan store more easily than AP) too.
>>
>>10445192
I live in Osaka so I don’t get tax free but i do get it delivered within 1-3 days with ¥800 shipping
>>
>>10445195

Living in Japan definitely gives a huge advantage on saving money in other ways like being able to save on shipping and use CCs physical store, plus being able to go to other physical stores during sales or just anytime to get items in store that are sold out online and may be being scalped (though that applies to AP more). Tax free is nice but if it was easy for me to spend a couple years in Japan working to have access to jfashion stuff directly I'd gladly do it.

I suppose you could get the best of both worlds by being there for a long time on a tourist visa though.
>>
>>10445189
What made you sell all your old AP if you don’t mind me asking? Just because their new stuff is ugly doesn’t mean their old stuff isn’t nice anymore
>>
>>10444232
I studied to clean garments in a professional way and there are more ways to destroy the piece with hand washing than with a washing machine. For beginners I almost always suggest to use a washing machine because of that.
Using the wrong detergent, let it soak for too long and without moving it enough or at all. Also the quality of the water you use needs to be checked as well.

Handwash is pretty tricky and a good washing machine can do it in most cases better and more gentle than any human.

Like the other anon said, drying is as important as washing. You really should check the way you clean your garments and look for improvements and of course not every material ages well, there can be quality issues. I own items from various brands and ages and the only items which aged badly were from Lief and from Friends I know that AP has some problematic pieces too.
>>
>>10445208
Because they’re a larper
>>
>>10445208
I sold the ap part of my wardrobe from the last 5 years. I officially haven’t purchased anything ap since last year and sold the rest. Not new but not pieces from 2010 or anything.
I also just prefer babys prints and quality. It hasn’t gone downhill like ap’s now taobao quality fabric with 100% polyester. Plus with the tax increase, their items are now nearly $300 so it would make more sense to buy taobao pieces for $30 or so.
>>10445218
Smells like jealousy. Sorry you chose to stay in a shithole country like America! Don’t be too bitter
>>
>>10445189
Baby is going to go the same way. Just look at all the infinite kumya accessories and special editions. It's a money grab.
>>
>>10445225
Baby has good prints and non prints. Ap hasn’t really had much lately and everything has been polyester.
>>
>>10445225

They've always released tons of kumya stuff. It's literally their mascots? Their items are great quality and they still sell cotton prints, which I prefer to AP's particular choice in polyester. Their plushes are also much cuter to me than AP but that's personal preference.

Generally speaking Baby has remained great quality. I don't care if brands release "money grab" items if the quality is actually good like theirs. I just call that releasing a decent product in exchange for the expected price point of niche fashion brands in lolita.
>>
>>10445225
In my honest opinion its better than ap who doesn’t release plushes as often so all their plushes are always heavily scalped. ap is just for chinese lolitas who only purchase lolita to sell it for profit.
>>

I am surprised you have trouble with Lief. I am AYRT whose oldschool Meta and some AP faded to shit (gentle handwash in cold water) and my Lief dresses have held up amazingly. I have 2 releases from a couple years ago with one solid and one floral and they have been washed 10-20 times with only minor fading. Versus my Meta and AP has been worn and washed only a couple times. AP is hit or miss, I love that the new poly stays so bright and some of the cotton prints are invincible.

>>10445225
if it's a money grab, then it's funding the cute stuff they still make, and I'm 100% ok with that. and now they have captain chris to fund A/P too, so maybe A/P will improve lol.

How many dresses do you all have in your wardrobe?
>>
>>10445481
40 or so last I counted.
>>
>>10445481
Your post made me count the dresses in my spreadsheet, but then I realized I had a lot more than I thought, so I added up everything else too... Everything is AP, except the shoes.

55 JSKs/OPs
30 blouses
15 bags
45 socks/tights
70 pieces of jewelry
10 pairs of wristcuffs
65 headbows.
10 pairs of shoes

What does everyone think the best ratio of everything is? I think I have too many blouses and headbows, but I would like more bags and wristcuffs. I still feel like I'm lacking on socks too.
>>
>>10445481
5, and 8 more on the way. I just got way into Lolita a month ago.
>>
>>10445481
Almost 70, probably will have at least that many by the end of the year.
>>
>>10445481
13, then another 8 skirts. I don't think I'd want more than 20, there would be no opportunity to wear them all enough.
>>
>>10445481
I don't count between jsk and OP, I have around 75 total. Trying to sell quite a few of them because I can't wear this many, I wear most dresses once or twice a year
>>
mew
>>
>>10444285
That price while missing the sleeves? I wouldn't feel too bad anon, it pops up with the sleeves often enough. More expensive, but so worth it.
>>
>>10445481
2 and a half. The half one was a mistake.
>>
>>10445481
10 dresses (6 op / 4 jsk)
9 skirts
3 pants
9 shirts
6 tights/socks
5 shoes
7 headresses/hats
5 purses
not counting handmade stuff (1skirt, 2 shirts)

>>10445595
how did you get a half a dress? Did someone cut it?
>>
>>10445602
It was the second dress I bought and turned out to be bad material and an odd fit. I don't see myself wearing it not is it worth selling.

This jsk. Instead of fitting under the bust, it goes over it. The ribbon in the middle is a brighter, cool toned pink than what's displayed in the picture and it feels like paper. I've cut off the bow and in the process of replacing it with a white lace bow to match the lace trail and considering removing the fake "underskirt" attachment at the bottom and maybe add lace instead? But that doesn't make up for the material. So I'm just going to play with it until I can make it salvegeable. If not, then oh well.
>>
>>10445615
this reads as a maid cosplay at first glance. hope you can salvage it somehow.
>>
>>10445481
34 JSKs
5 OPs
8 Skirts
2 Coats
2 Jackets
2 Capes

Haven't counted anything else yet

I'm trying to do a sort of 'census' of my wardrobe, I feel autistic as shit keeping track of how many dresses I have that include "bunnies" and "red satin ribbon" and "pink cotton lace" but hopefully I'll be able to use the data to figure out what things I should buy or make to fill out my wardrobe.
>>
>>10445622
Thanks, if I can't make it work it's no big deal. Newbies gotta learn after all.

17 SK, maybe more but they lie on very far shelves

I’m in a similar situation. But it’s at the point where it’s daunting to even do a spreadsheet because while I have a lot of mainpieces I also have tons of shoes, blouses, cardigans, bags, and jewelry. I probably have well over a thousand pieces total.

2 ops, one skirt, 9 or 10 jsks with 2 jsks on the way. i've been actually wearing the fashion for about a year now (after admiring it since i was a young teen), and kind of threw myself headfirst into it.
>>
>>10445637
Yeah I tried to do a wardrobe post last year and despaired because it would have taken me hours. I just gave up.
I'm not sure if I've a thousand, but it's a full room of clothes at least. I probably have enough clothes to wear a different coordinate every single day of the year.
Makes me a little guilty sometimes.
>>
>>10445481
I have somewhere around 80-90 JSKs, OPs, and skirts in total. I have about 30% of it documented on Pintrest and I've started making a comprehensive hidden wardrobe album of everything on Facebook. I should probably do a more thorough job of documenting everything...
>>
>>10445638
Not mainpieces but if I take into everything else yes.

>>10445641
I have most of mine stored in a room too, but there’s also a considerable amount at my parents who I usually visit for 6 months of the year but with corona that’s not happening this year
>>
>>10445641
at that point you just do a closet room tour like misako and say, so this is where i keep my blouses... here's a couple of my current favs... moving on to my sock drawer...
>>
>>10445647
That sucks anon, I hope you get to visit your parents this year if the Rona gets better.
>>10445650
Haha yeah i think I have a similar collection as Misako. But really, I don't see the point of doing anymore since all it does is make people jealous? I don't really need the negative attention, as much as I want to share my favourite items with people.
Most of my items are in boxes, so probably they'd think I'm like a hoarder like Jarr.
>>
>>10445481
30 dresses and 25 skirts

>>
>>10445481
I'm still learning:
5 jsks; +1 in the mail
2 OPs (who did i think I was to fit an OP)
16 skirts (8 of which fit); +1
2 miniskirts (that I'm too tall for)
5 shortsleeve cutsews
3 shortsleeve blouses
1 convertible blouse
1 longsleeve cutsew
3 longsleeve blouses (almost too short)
5 headbows/headdresses (I don't wear)
19 smaller hair accessories; +3
11 pairs of shoes (9 fit)
7 bags (2 I'm too shy to wear yet)
1 wallet
10 knits/boleros (6 fit); +1
10 printed socks; +3
15 solid socks, which is too many; +1 lol
7 necklaces; +3
2 rings; +2
4 pairs earrings
2 ugly bracelets. I'm in dire need of more.
2 bloomers
2 pettis; +1 underskirt
raincoat, umbrella, rainboots; +earmuffs
+wristcuffs (I'm too shy to wear yet)

I lost 4lbs the last two weeks, so in a few more weeks my skirt wardrobe should double, which is exciting. I'm right on the edge of that 72cm mark that most of them have as max, so it's hard to guess which will button vs. which will actually fit properly.

Of these, my offbrand items are 6 pairs shoes, 1 printed pair of socks, 1 bag, the 2 bracelets, and the 2 pettis. My wardrobe is mostly BtSSB and Meta, but some of the stuff like jewelry and hair accessories is from otome/himekaji jp brands which I still count as brand-name.
>>
>>10445481
9 skirts
12 ops
28 jsks
1 mystery dress in the mail

I also have novelty brand pieces with a yukata and some bikinis but i don't usually keep them in my catalog of main peices
>>
>>10445481
17 OP (all but one are AP)
7 JSK (all AP)
1 skirt (short torso so they don’t sit right on my body)
6 blouses
1 cardigan
2 coats
2 jackets
5 bags*
3 plush bags (display only)
10 shoes*
? Head accessories (drawer full of headbows and some odd hats)
? Socks/tights (don’t feel like counting)
2 gloves

I didn’t include dresses and cardigans from Otome brands like ETC, JM and Milk. I wear casual jfashion daily. I don’t really wear jewelry in general.

Bags are MILK and one VW used interchangeably with my regular wardrobe. Most shoes are from otome brands and same. Most of everything else is AP.

It’s funny I used to prefer jsks but now have way more OPs.

Disregard that number its
14 ops and 26jsks. Skirts are still correct.
Other items
7 hats
5 berets
2 bonnets
22 shoes
12 bags
5 cutsews
19 blouses
5 aprons
9 boleros/cardigans
4 caplets
5 head dresses
7 sets if ribbon combs
2 pairs if bear ears
7 hair clips
4 non headbans bows
22 headbands
40 pairs of socks
Too much jeweley to count
6 pairs of wrist cuffs
2 gloves
4 parasols/umbrellas
1 winter coat (I need one or two more desu. The cream goes well with what i have but i probably need a black one)
And since I mentioned them
1 yukata
4 bikinis

An overwhelming majority of my wardrobe is meta, then baby/aatp, then innocent world, then ap, then other brands

i didn't buy it knowing I'd be too tall for it - i found out after. and the headbows are sold as sets with the main pieces, so I'm not going to bother putting up a sales listung for only a headbow. same with a $30 miniskirt - not worth my time to go to the post office to sell.
>>
>>10445710
the point of including that stuff wasn't for autistic pity pats, it was to share my experience as a newbie with other newbies. that things might not work out as ideally the capsule wardrobe thread makes it seem and it might take trial and error to build up a wardrobe.
>>
>>10445481
30,i'd consider it a medium sized wardrobe.
>>
>>10445733
Different anon but I thank you for that. As a newbie with only a few pieces, I'm learning this as well. Like today, not on the lolita side but more on the jfashion side, a skirt with suspenders came in today and while the waist size would fit (76 cm), the damn thing won't go over my thighs. Tried to pull it over my head and it wouldn't go past my bust (100 cm). Fucking...
>>
>>10445703
What do you want pictures of, anon? I didn't think my wardrobe was too huge to believe. I think the only "impressive" part of it is my AP jewelry, which would be worth thousands of dollars now on the current market.

I wanted pictures of >>10445637 's wardrobe because I love huge collections. Wondering what style/brand that anon wears.
>>
>>10445762
yeah, there are some things that just don't work out the way you expected. i have two btssb dresses. one is 91cm long, but it's an oldschool type i wear with low poof and the length looks great. the other is 93cm long, but it's a print so i need to wear it with big poof to show the artwork, and that pulls it up and makes it look short.
>>
>>10445481
11 dresses, 4 skirts (though I’d like to get more just because they’re better for daily wear) I won’t bother counting stuff like blouses/tights/accessories because so much of it is just loliable stuff I’ve modified bc of my height. I’ve been “in lolita” for a while but I’m a lonelita and don’t participate much in online comm stuff.
>>
>>10445481
At least 70 I think, almost all handmade
>>
>>10445481

>having 10+ dresses
Are you guys daily lolitas or collectors? Impressive but it's trippy to have so many dresses. Is your casual wardrobe just as large?
>inb4 called scrote
I'm just a new lolita that normally wears shirts and jeans. I think I only have about 15 outfits consisting of jeans, shirts, goodies and jackets and two business casual outfits for interviews/special events. So hearing 50 OPs and JSKs is jarrring.
>>
how often do you guys wear lolita? what do you wear when not in lolita? do you wear any other j-fashion or alt fashion styles?
>>
>>10445481
20 total, but only 7 at my apartment. No idea how you guys have so much space which is the main constraint to adding more, maybe I'm just a poorfag.
>>
>>10445807
>Are you guys daily lolitas or collectors?
Neither. I wear lolita on weekends, I've been in the fashion for several years, I buy what I like and do not sell a lot. The amount just builds itself.
Normally I wear a main piece 1-2 times a year, I also use them for style challenges, twinning, etc.

>>10445811
>what do you wear when not in lolita?
Something between retro, mori and otome style. My cardigans collection is the same for my casual and lolita wardrobe, I also use some lolita skirts and non-print dresses. I don't own any pants.
>>
>>10445807
people usually have a lot more outfits in their casual/day-to-day wardrobe than you do though - 15 is pretty limited for most, so i think it's just a lot to you
>>
>>10445811
I wear it pretty much every weekend, but that's the only time I really leave my house. If I go out on a week day I'll wear something toned down because it's usually a small errand.
>>
>>10445807
I circulate around the same 5 pairs of pants and a series of shirts in my normal wardrobe but I have over 50 mains. I don’t wear the fashion daily, just only on the weekends. But I’ve been wearing lolita for almost 2 decades and my wardrobe reflects that. After a while you become happy with all the pieces you have, and add to it rather than let go.
>>
>>10445807
Having 10+ dress becomes less strange when you realize many people just wear the fashion out on the street, same as casual wear.
>>
>>10445826

Agreed. I wore mostly dresses before wearing lolita daily and massed over 40 or 50 easily, plus my lolita stuff it got to the point I would rather just wear lolita and I donated most of my normie dresses I wasn't completely in love with anymore.
>>
>>10445807

I'm >>10445794 but I call myself a 'weekender' lolita; I guess I can go through as many as 100 outfits a year? If you count vacation then it's more. I can't really wear it at work but it gets a lot easier to wear on the streets once you're used to it.
>>
>>10445811
>how often do you guys wear lolita?
At least once every couple weeks, no more than 3 times a normal week
>what do you wear when not in lolita?
Goth, work uniforms, or just suits. I also have some goth leaning business casual, and old college and convention tee shirts for PJs.
>do you wear any other j-fashion or alt fashion styles?
Goth, but my lolita wardrobe is almost all black, so i can cross the wires pretty easily.
>>10445807

about every other day because of quarantine, would probably be only weekends otherwise. i only started wearing it outside the house around the time quarantine hit, been going to the grocery store. before that i wore graphic tees when lazy, fashionnova when going out, and business casual/formal for work. now, in quarantine, if I'm not dressed up in jfashion then I am in pjs. i also have some liz lisa clothes for more casual outfits, but they are on the flashy sweet side - with teddy appliques and strawberry embroidery - not their more normie solids.

I've been into lolita fashion for years now, but only last year did I come up with the courage to buy a real dress. I usually just buy the accessories and wear them here and there. Money is tight so I usually just find one dress I really like and save up for it, and try to enjoy it as much as I can before moving to the next one. It would be a shame to ruin a good dress so quickly, so I bought 2 skirts. Still building up a good foundation of blouses.

I've only just got back into lolita 2 years ago. I'd don't plan on owning more than 20 jsks/ops because I don't go out enough to wear them all and I have no space. I really can't imagine owning 30+ dresses and there are anons out her with 200 pieces, like jesus christ, that would give me so much anxiety.
>>
>>10446207
>that would give me so much anxiety
A couple of anons have expressed this. What makes you feel this way? Is really just lack of space?

Having lots of things brings me joy, so I've never understood why more things = more anxiety.
>>
>>10446213
It's multiple things. First, being that I know if I just constantly consume everything I like, I will wake up and realised how much money I have wasted on things I only sort of like. I also have really little wardrobe space. I have to share my wardrobe with my mother who has 3 other closets filled with random shit she only wears once and abandons. I also live in a house where my parents (and my sister) hoard worthless shit like broken suitcases, buy ugly function-less furniture. I can't ever walk through my house freely, I have to squeeze past random pieces of furniture they won't through away because my mum needs her millionth wardrobe. I hate being around stuff. I love indulging in nice things, or else I wouldn't be into lolita, but I have my limits. I like knowing what I own just by glance and if I can't find a good reason for owning something other than it's pretty, i'm getting rid of it. Other then that, as a child, I really didn't have much possessions not because I came from a poor family, but because my parents never really spoiled me and treats were restricted to my birthday and Christmas, meanwhile they spoiled the ever living hell out my younger siblings. They were also quick to give away my shit without my consent so I've always valued what i own.
>>
>>10446031
The owner of IW talked on Twitter about financial problems. Unfortunately, due to COVID they have closed their international webshop, so you only can get stuff through a shopping service.
>>
>>10446217
I'm sorry, anon. Thank you for taking the time to explain.

I can see how your experience would completely change how someone would feel about owning too many things. I hope, when you are able to get your own space, you can take more control over your environment.

I think it's interesting that your bring up childhood. Material things were a reward for me as a child for getting good grades, etc, so I think lots of stuff has always equaled "good" for me. Maybe I'm messed up because of that (as much as anons love to hate on "poorfags," they also love to hate on "hoarders." It's like you can't win because you either have too much or too little), because I'm a borderline collector. But possessions never felt like a burden to me, so I was curious.
>>
>>10446213
I move very often so the thought of having to pack a gigantic wardrobe everytime and risk losing things stress me out.
>>
>>10446231
That makes sense. I admit that having to move all my things is my only fear. I don't move super often, but I know I will have to in the future (within the next 3-5 years). I try to mentally pack all my lolita in to my car, because my most valuable things always get packed into my car, then taken into hotels if needed for the night, and taken back out. Letting any movers touch my wardrobe terrifies me.It just sucks that anything else I own would have to be moved by truck/van, since I think my wardrobe would fill my entire car.
>>
>>10445811
>how often do you guys wear lolita?
Usually maybe once a month. Life and work get in the way. Admittedly, I haven't worn it in some time because I gained some weight and felt down on how I looked in it. I've since lost the weight so I think I'm ready to wear it again. Just waiting for the right time. I have 25 - 30 dresses.
>what do you wear when not in lolita?
Casual jfashion leaning towards otome. Lately I wear a lot of MILK dresses + ETC/LG shoes + ankle socks. Its easy and not too out there for work. In the winter I get lazy and vintage sweaters with the same pair of pants every day.
>do you wear any other j-fashion or alt fashion styles?
See above. I like otome brands like ETC, Jane Marple and of course Milk. I liked Larme when it was a thing, but most of those brands shifted to a style that's too young-looking for me now.

>>10445481
4 main pieces and 3 skirts. I'm still quite new, though.
>>
>>10446483
Idk why people like this don’t just buy second hand.
>>
>>10446488
Because it takes time and not everyone is a poorfag that wants to wait to maybe find the specific blouse they're waiting for?
>>
>>10446491
If someone’s not a poorfag, why do they have to bother with Taobao?
I think this is another piece of evidence towards the point someone made earlier about the mindset of poor people keeping them in poverty. Instead of saving up for something nice (or, say, investing or buying property), they bleed money little by little by buying lots of trash.
>>
>>10446488
Actually I looked through lacemarket and couldn't find what I wanted, but to be honest when I saw the AP blouse I fell for it and bought.
>>10446494
I bother with Taobao because I genuinely like the dresses I find more than some of the current brand ones floating around. When a JP brand makes a dress I like, I'd buy it, most likely straight from them.
>>
>>10446494
I’ve spent thousands on brand but the only blouses I’ve seen that I like are from Yolanda. And I’ve heard that AP blouses have little arm holes plus my bust would probably be too big and I’ll get the little open gaps between the buttons. Most Taobao brands have multiple sizes.
>>
>>10445920
Did you try stremio?

Why aren't there any taobao brands that release cotton? I don't want sweat pooling in my shirt
>>
>>10446437
what blouse anon?
>>
>>10446586
I sweat a lot and I’ve never had this problem.
>>
>>10446586

Dear celine does cotton. Honestly they're very decent for the price too
>>
I just saw my dream dress in a pinterest album named "sissy dresses" and I want to vomit just imaging some smelly disgusting man wearing such a beautiful op
>>
>>10446586
Strawberry Witch and Tiny Garden make cotton blouses.
>>
>>10446494
>If someone’s not a poorfag, why do they have to bother with Taobao?
Because some of us have other hobbies. For example I collect bjds which is extremely expensive and I game which can soak up a lot of money too. So even though I'm not poor, I don't want to sink all my money into one hobby only. If there's a more affordable way to enjoy a hobby, then I'll take it.
>>
>>10446623
They call themselves sissies? I thought that was just a derogatory term Lolitas came up with.
>>
>>10446633
Yes. Their whole fetish is to be humiliated by dressing like a (caricature) woman, if you dont know.
>>
>>10446633
>Lolitas came up with
...have you literally never been on a porn website?
>>
>>10446633

It's an intentionally derogatory term they and their "doms" call themselves because their entire fetish is based on hating women so much or thinking so little of femininity that the thought of being female is so degrading it gets them off.

Which, beyond then forcing their kinks being gross and creepy, is why sissies do not mesh well with a hyperfeminine clothing style that celebrates girliness and femininity.
>>
>>10446637

Nayrt but I watch porn regularly and the first time I heard of ddlg and sissies was via their blogs on Tumblr where they repeatedly ignored DNIs and tried to talk to me as an underage kid into lolita and pastels and stuff (they were all grown ass men)
>>
>>10446637
>>10446638
I had literally never heard of it until I came on this board. I had only been interested in vanilla porn when I was younger so I never went looking for weird stuff.

Thanks for explaining. I knew they were gross, but I didn’t know the details.
>>
You know, I saw the general was active and thought I’d check to see if there was actual lolita discussion happening, or the 5 millionth trans thread. Y’all never disappoint.
>>
>>10446586
>what is draping
It’s 2020 anon. Some of us don’t need like looking like 5 year olds in school kid blouses. Hmu when brands start dropping silk blouses. Then we can talk.
>>
>>10446695
Want to look like*

Sorry, my phone had a stroke.
>>
>>10446695
Same anon.
Chiffon is cute ill admit, but I just look at it and know my sweaty ass will hate it. Admittedly I do like the childlike look of cotton blouses, not in an ageplay way more in a nostalgic sense.

Silk would be dope
>>
>>10446695
Jane Marple makes some lovely cotton-silk blend pieces that drape beautifully.
>>
>>10446488
>>10446499

Yeap, have had the issue where I really liked an AP blouse, bought it in the colour it's left in, wanted it in pink too but never saw it again, ever.

The danger zone for lolita is when everybody thinks it's unpopular or "not worth it". So a lot of stuff like unpopular IW, Miho Matsuda, or blouses just never get listed for sale because the owners thinks nobody else wants it. So if you see some socks, wristcuffs, blouses, stuff that you really, really, really, really, really like but no one else seems to hype about, just buy it. You may never see it again.

Of course, don't bother with it if you just "kinda like" it. That kind of thing you can get over.
>>
>>10446494
Some people spend hundreds of thousands on their wardrobe but buying a couple of taobao pieces is what's keeping people poor. Right.
>>
>>10446908
Are you stupid?

It is poorfag mentality to buy a bunch of cheap shit over and over even though it isn't durable, rather than saving and buying quality garments that will last you.
>>
>>10447032
>quality garments that last
I may be a newfags in lolita, but from my lurking experience some brand shoes don't seem to last.
>>
>>10447034
Garments are clothing, retard, not shoes.

I'm obviously talking about brand dresses which can last more than ten years while taobao shit falls apart within year to 3 years at the very best.
>>
>>10447032
The bags, shoes, and blouses I've bought from Taobao have lasted me years and still in good condition now. Meanwhile I see people's brand shoes and bags peeling and breaking apart.
>>
>>10447040
this is such bullshit. taobao shoes break down as much as brand shoes if you wear them often. same with bags.
>>
>>10447038
So you agree, brand shoes don't last.
>>
>>10447043
>it's not my personal experience, therefore it's bullshit
>>
>>10447038
that's only true for print dresses because of the way they're printed. solid ones last just as well, even better if you can get one of the few cotton ones offered vs brand poly.
>>
>>10447045
yes that is what you said, taobao chan.
>>
>>10447044
Yes, but what does that have to do with poorfags wasting their money on shitty taobao dresses?
Nobody is talking about shoes you moron.
>>
>>10447040
Cool, have fun wearing your itchy polyester!
Some of us want to wear natural fibers, not plastic. I guess if you consider plastic being long lasting then I guess your garments are "durable".
>>
>>10447040
That's because they bought them secondhand from people who worn them a lot.
I don't know what other people who with their shoes and bags that causes them to deteriorate so fast but all my brand bags and shoes last several years, which is how long shoes usually last. And the only bag that fell apart is from a decade ago
>>
>>10447057
Literally a little ways up in this very thread a bunch of people listed Taoabo brands that sell cotton blouses. Stop being ignorant.
>>
>>10447063
Yeah, and that's a super small percentage, a good number of them being "imitation cotton".
>>
>>10447062
Also highly dependent on how you store them. But leave it to poorfags to improperly store their items and then cry "but muh brand shoes don't last!!!!"
>>
>>10447057
lmao most AP is poly now and there are taobao shops which sell cotton, you sound like one of those girls larping as a brandwhore but probably owns like 1 main piece from closetchild and thinks that makes her tyler willis
>>
>>10447072
I'm a babyfag, dumb ass. Of course poorfags think AP is the only brand that exists. It's ok, I know you've never touched brand in your life so I'd expect you to not know what you're talking about
Taobao is like 99.9% shitty poly with a measly percentage left of cotton and imitation cotton.
>>
>>10447032
All of my taobao items have lasted. Meanwhile ap shoes and bags that cost over $100 tend to peel. I’ll stick with the $30 shoes and purses that are durable and cuter.
>>
>>10447078
Cute! Most of my wardrobe is baby but I do own a couple taobao pieces which I love. Tbh you get what you pay for on taobao — buy cheap, get cheap, it doesn’t take a fucking genius to figure out. Cotton and lace aren’t exclusive to the holy land of nippon.

>>
>>10447078

>babyfag

God dammit don't make the rest of us who prefer BABY look as annoying as you are by pretending like what brand you prefer makes any of what you said less ignorant.

Is BABY best brand: for me, yes, absolutely. Does that make your assumptions about taobao being inherently worse or never using good materials or lasting true at all? No.
>>
>>10447106
it literally is tho.
>>
>>10447106
No but you mentioning AP being poly proves what a larper you are, assuming AP is the only brand people buy.
>>
>>10447098
Keep seething for no reason retard
>>
>>10447032
>buy a bunch of cheap shit over and over even though it isn't durable, rather than saving and buying quality garments
Cheap shit as in

shoes and bags? You act like we’re buying rags kek
>>
>>10447138

I never mentioned AP being poly. I know this might come as a shock to you, but not everyone who thinks your comments are dumb or wrong is the same person.
>>
Cgl sure loves to masturbate over cotton but the only people I see wearing 100% cotton these days are a dozen old schoolers and some classic lolitas.

Not to mention brands have always made poly releases and some of the most iconic brand items are not possible without poly (see Meta's Pintuck JSK)
>>
>>10447153

I prefer Meta's old school desu...and I love prints in sweet too of course and prefer the cotton ones but I think it's more aesthetic for me since BABY cotton always has nice textures on their printed pieces and AP cotton just looks so much better than the poly as far as dress shape and the quality they used to produce their cotton pieces in like inbuilt pettis and so on. I think it's more of an overall quality concern because the brand (AP) is making choices that only serve to make the materials look more costumey to me. Kind of like how shiny satin costume fabric is often used for cosplays but makes then feel like cheap costumes in the wrong context where a matte broadcloth would have felt more realistic. Poly is a fine material, AP just doesn't seem to be able to use it in ways that suit my preferences anymore.
>>
>>10447147
Then you would know i mentioned baby because the other anon said "bUT AP IS POLY NOW!" when that's literally one brand. That doesn't change the fact that taobao is largely made from shitty poly and chiffon.
>>
>>10447143
Nope, cheap taobao dresses which don't last longer than a year and look like garbage.
>>
>>10447143
I love how you taobao itas keep screaming about the shoes and bags because that's the one thing you can justify cheaping out on, as if the only other alternative is Japanese lolita brand bags.
>>
>>10447177

No one said all taobao is brand tier quality. This conversation happens all the time and the consensus is usually that almost all taobao main pieces for lolita tend to be lower quality than the typical quality of most brand, but that for other areas (pleather items, which vary wildly based on factors users cannot control like secondhand purchases, humidity, etc., blouses some of which are often made of cotton, acessories, many of which are just as cute as brand or sometimes more creative, socks, depending on the store, and more) quality is very very different when comparing different shops and all taobao is not on the same level. Plus because brand also frequently makes polyester or synthetic blouses and other stuff, if you like it and it is just as cute or fragile why not buy the taobao and save your money for either more items or for brand main pieces?
>>
>>10447178
>cheap taobao dresses which don't last longer than a year and look like garbage.
Makes you wonder how $300 poly garbage bags from AP are going to last OH WAIT
>>10447180
To be fair i have more brand bags than taobao (2 taobao purses and 5 brand). I do like taobao’s cotton blouses much more than brand and they fit my broad shoulders.
>>
>>10447153
>Meta's pintuck jsk
>not possible without poly
....anon
>>
>>10447244

Don't tell them pintucks existed before synthetic fibers anon, their brain might explode
>>
>>10447198
Why do you keep mentioning AP when I don't wear new AP?

I just thinks its funny to see taobao poorfags blowing their money on a bunch of shitty brand new taobao dresses instead of saving up for brand or secondhand brand. Its quintessential poorfag mentality.
But keep talking about your taobao bags and shoes like anyone cares or is talking about that
>>
>>10447186
But I've been talking specifically about broke taobaolitas who say they buy main pieces from taobao because its all they can afford, not realizing its more money and less worth it than it would be to just save up for something higher quality.
>>
>>10447244

I realize there was a cotton one, but it just isn't as good as the poly one imo

I also love the gathers in the VM chiffon dresses. There's a particular gather they do where they will attach it towards the bottom of the dress, and it's lovely in different ways on both cotton and poly. I have said ruffle on various pieces in both cotton and poly, but really the poly one gives such a light feeling to the dress that can't really be replicated with cotton. Although the cotton gives a very victorian feeling as well, both are nice, just in different ways.
>>
>>10444291
VM has this release up! Sorry I’m not in a position to post the deets at the moment, if another kind anon has the time though?

Skirt, jacket, op, hat and blouse
Also who is this model?

>>10444353
100% polyester I’m afraid!
