Where can I find cute shelves like these? They're adorbs. Also, can you put stuff up on your walls without damaging them? I'm renting an apartment, so I should try to keep them as new.
>>10380302They look like painted vintage shelves. Designs like these were common in the 70s and 80s
I decided I want to paint my bookshelves white and pink rather than buy white and pink ones, because the shelves I have are like 20 years old but are sturdy as hell and any pink/white ones I've found online seem to be incredibly cheap. My sister has a gallon of white chalk paint she's willing to send me, but I don't really want a chalky finish. Can I add a glaze or varnish over it to give it a semi-gloss feel? Or should I wait until I can buy some semi-gloss paint? I've never painted furniture before so I will probably test everything out on a small magazine rack from the same set first anyway.
>>10380305You're right. I'd look up "heart shelves, "heart rack," etc on ebay>>10380302
>>10380302i've seen these on aliexpress/taobao,
>>10380306If you're going to glaze it anyway you're probably better off getting proper paint. Chalk paint isn't especially hard-wearing and will start coming off something high use like a bookcase. Usually that's fine because people want vintage look with their chalk paint furniture but sounds like you want a more polished look. I'd recommend getting an enamel based paint for shelves.
>>10380306i would wait. chalk paint is really chalky. it's mostly used to make shabby chic pieces since it distresses well and has no gloss to it. even if you add gloss or varnish over it, it has a very chalky texture to how it looks (if that makes sense)
I just moved into a new house. I have a bedroom and an office, and I'm starting from scratch. I know a lot of clothing retailers are having amazing sales due to the virus, but what about furniture? I'm really not even sure where to start.
>>10380302No way to put up shelves without damage. Just fill in the holes when you move out. Holes in walls are considered normal wear-and-tear and they can't go after you for it or anything, except maybe keeping more of your security deposit
>>10380302ask your landlord/building manager. i am allowed any holes less than 2in diameter (which is huge) most places are cool with small holes.
I'm in need of some new hand/bath towels. Can anyone recommend some nice absorbent ones that will fit my home's classic/grandma aesthetic? Preferably no stolen art and not made by child slaves.

just quarantine painted my lounge. Any ideas to prevent it feeling too dark? I quite like a dark room, its cosy. But I need something to "lift" it I guess? I got this light but I'm a little disappointed with it. I expected it to be white when switched on rather than colours, but it was pretty expensive and I dont hate it, just was really hype for it.would it be really obnoxious and tacky to incorporate string lights?also need a new sofa, this one is on its way out. Any ideas would be nice
>>10385984What style are you going for?
>>10386063love that light actually. you should get a smaller sofa, the leather is good but go for a lighter colour like the chair. Light curtains, maybe something floral. I dont think that colour is too dark with the wood of the floor and it makes the furniture and plants pop. But I think it would look nice to have either a simple round mirror or something gold and ornate on the wall

>>10386550Looks super cute like that, although we dont tend to have fans in the frigid UK. Could probably just do battery pack ones. How did you mount your skull? I've had mine kicking around for ages,

I'm glad you liked them. Marina Fini does sell furniture/art peices, but imo its very overpriced.>>10390843why are lolitas so obsessed with "must fit the lolita aesthetic"Not everyone on this board is a lolita. Please show me where in OP I wrote "lolita interior design thread" Not everything is about you so please, shake those sand out of your bloomers.
>>10390866Stealing this idea because that's the exact layout of my room, except I have an actual bed instead of just a mattress on the floor. I'll probably keep my burando stashed in my closet though since my room gets a lot of direct sunlight. >>10391001Cosplayers vs. lolitas vs. other jfash has long been part of this board. Back when I first started using the board in 2014-15, there would occasionally be threads requesting that cgl be split into a cons and cosplay board and a lolita and jfash board. Cgl doesn't get enough traffic in the first place to warrant a split though.
>>10391219I've been here since 2011 and recently started using this board again in 2019. Its weird seeing what has changed, but what surprises me is seeing the push against anything not lolita.
>>10391237lol you're so new.
>>10390843the thread wasnt specifically about lolita rooms, the word lolita is nowhere in the OP nor was it implied. The OP pic isnt even lolita at all. the world doesnt revolve around you.
>>10391237The room decor threads have always been jfashion centric though. What is a “cosplay” room? Just an otaku room?? I could see the argument that lolitas need to ease off their style though because other jfashions exist
>>10391001First ayrt, thank you for posting these originally! I really like the lighting in these and going through my old phone made me a bit nostalgic. I also agree that not everything has to always fit the lolita aesthetic and this is coming from a lolita with a lolita-fitting room, but that doesn't mean it's the only aesthetic I like.>>10391313I used to make room threads a few years ago, cosplayers often requested inspo for work stations, displaying (both props and weeb stuff) and the like iirc. There's also lolita/jfash anons who wanted rooms that weren't conventionally cute and frilly. People can have different tastes and preferences yknow.
>>10391322Solid point. Craft rooms were a staple here. That being said, the vaporwave stuff has nothing notable connected with cosplay or jfashion so it seems random to post here without a request.Like I could start dumping Tommy Bahama furniture photo shoots, because THEORETICALLY there is someone on this board that might want a room that looks like a 50 year old Florida man decorated it, but it would seem off topic without a request
>>10390863> coffin shaped dressing room> table with the naked monster womanDo any anons have pics of these? I tried to look them up to show my friend a few days ago, but I couldn't find anything.

It's kinda childish but I really like Sagiri's wall decor. Anyone know where I kinda find some similar things like pic related? I'm also not sure what to call the rainbow clear discs in the following pic I'll be dropping to make that.
>>10391323weirdly enough, vaporwave does have ties with Jfashion now.I'd post examples if I find any, but Jfashion indie brands and lounges targeted toward those who wear Jfashion have been going for the popular "vaporwave" look, and you can see tons of vaporwave stuff in asian selfie apps too. Because of the popularity of the aesthetic, these hotels started renting out rooms to cosplayers for photos even.Often time they are used for movie sets. pic related was used for the Japanese film "helter skelter" about a crazy Japanese model.
>>10391630>>10391323Different anon but pretty much all brands under Wao Company (beware, eye cancer https://www.wao.company/ ) would make Vaporwave goods.

>>10391323Fair point, though as other anons have said vaporwave does have ties to jfashion now, I think especially to the cyber looks that are gaining popularity. I'll re-post them for requests next time though.

>>10385862the best way to combat this is to let them have their own room to be themselves inmy bf has his own room and it's his very organized, 1950s lab room, bunch of retro movie posters, ray guns, etc.my room (our bedroom) has a lot of my lolita stuff tacked on corkboards, i have a dressform and some goth things on the walls, etc. if you can't have separate rooms, might as well talk it over and see if you can compromise on something. good luck!
When I get the change, I'm going to be upgrading from a one bedroom to a 3 bedroom.for one of the bedrooms, I want to have a crafting/hobby area based on early 2000s rooms. (beaded curtains, bright colors, transparent electronics, lava lamp, I really like rainbow and bright colors)If any one knows of peices that fit this aesthetic, let me know. Does anybody know where I could find baskets for storage that are not synthetic, something like pictured in >>10391331 or the attached file? It is surprisingly difficult to encounter such baskets in real life, especially of a reasonable size that can actually store for instance toiletries, accessories and stationary. (Thrift stores are currently not an option, for obvious reasons)On another note, does anybody have creative tips for storing accessories? I have such a wide variety of accessories, that I do not know how to store them, leading them all to end up in the same box and not receive the treatment they deserve. Tips I found online very much so centered around displaying accessories, or wrote from the perspective from a small amount, which is not what I am after. Thank you in advance, anons :)
a simple yet girly, easy to emulate, baby blue room for a gentle girl
Casually display your favorite jewelry with pink, red and gold items, for a feminine and retro look. Opt for a graciously draped pearl necklace or dainty earrings for an extra girly touch.
Adorn your sleeping area with lace fabric for an etheral scene.
A clearly defined color scheme can truly transform the feel of a room, as clearly displayed in this picture. Though the room is quite bare and lacking in decorations, the choice of pink blinds and rug, in combination with the white furniture, immediately shows this room is truly girly. Also note the effect of choosing a baroque wardrobe over a simplistic, modern one. >>10399558Ethereal*

>>10399549Not sure where you're located, so it's hard to give shop recommendations because I live in a European country. As for accessories, I like to use ribbons for hair clips, barettes and enamel pins. >>10401735wallpapering the inside of wardrobes: yea or nay?
>>10401736Personally I find it too busy. It looks cleaner and easier on the eyes when things are just properly organized with less visual clutter.
>>10385769I'll just assume you are asking genuinely. There is a lot of space to work with. Alot of things you could do for a theme etc. I see lots of opportunities but overall it does look like shit because there is shit everywhere . I personally would move the bed away from the window. You know? As any sudden earthquake equals shattering glass all over you. Truthfully your desk is better served there. Bed goes on the right wall where your desk and gym shit is. You have a large space but your nightstand is broken right? I can see the drawers are overstuffed , or it is uneven, or broken. Toss it or fix that . Aesthetically you have too big of lamps . I would try for a floor lamp or smaller ones that add less yellow light.. and the nightstands in fact they themselves are too big. . It looks off . The asymmetry could be an attractive addition to the room should you decide on keeping just one. Also to add a headboard to complete your bedroom space. I see all that protein//vitamins shit on top of your dresser ...put it away. Or get those stacker shelf things where you can have them more unifor..You have too much stuff if it is out and strewn all about. The gym shit especially looks small enough it could be stored in your closet when finished . Also lighter wood shades would work better with the wall color and bed spread.
>>10401736Agree with the other anon it does look busy
>>10401736Maybe if you just did the shelves and not the whole wardrobe. OR if you have very plain/non print clothes.

>>10391514>>10391516>>10391517I love this. I wanted to incorporate somme weeb shit to my decor but because I'm into goth things and not pastels I haven't found much inspiration. But this is great.
>>10385862My boyfriend is very supportive and likes my style! He says our room is mine to decorate, he sleeps there and appreciate my aesthetic.Pic from today
>>10401736I've been thinking about decorating the inside of my wardrobe like that, but with a much simpler design. I'm thinking about either polka dots or stripes in pastel colors. I've read about how wallpaper glue can damage wood though, so I'm looking for furniture film.
Does anyone have a masterpost of websites selling nice furniture for a complete room overhaul? Looking for the Liz Lisa and/or female weeb aesthetic. I saved all the links given in the thread already.

>>10385716Not the poster but I get mine from Amazon. In fact I have a 16ft cool white strip arriving today. But you can get RGB with a remote and connectors on amazon pretty damn easy. I've bought a strip or two from ebay but amazon has nice ones. Try "LED wholesalers" on amazon
>>10380065I reupholstered my bed with floral fabric like pic related but in pastels. I'm stumped on what new bedspread I should buy since my old sheets were floral, but clash the fabric I used for upholstery. Should I just go plain white? Would that look too boring?
>>10415481either a solid color that matches one of the flowers in your print or something like thin stripes, still in similar colors.
>>10399576I hate this crab bucket so much
>live in a place where its at minimum $700k to get a house>rent is around $1800 a month>this thread made me hype to get a better place, decorate it, check out an area where the housing is around $300k>check their rent prices>$1800 a month and its shittier than where I'm at nowI hate this. why?
Anyone have any cute dorm ideas? Goth themes preferred.
>>10419674What sort of goth are you going for?I decorated my dorm 10 years ago (this photo is mine) from stuff all off of taobaoSadly, most of the stores I used are no longer in business, but I gaurantee stores like them still exist.custom built curtains really helps with decoration. And colored storage peices help a ton too. since dormroom beds are often raised for storage purposes, I reccomend putting some curtains under your bed
>>10419453LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
>>10420308It's the name of a tv show.
>>10380065Anyone know where to find any cute largeish jewelry boxes? I've suddenly realized my only jewelry box is only big enough for like six necklaces which way too small for the number of accessories I've amassed over the years so everything ends up spilling onto my dresser.
>>10421629romapri makes some cute ones
>>10420251My personal style is more punk but goth is easier to find. Put together some inspo boards.
>>10422329These are way too complicated for a dorm but I'd like to pull in a few elements. You feel me?
Bububun's room is honestly goals
>>10422331The image in the bottom left, I have that magazine and they say where they bought everything. I could try digging it up. Those things seem somewhat easy to find, any idea what your future dorm layout will be like?
question for people who live in super cluttered rooms like this with tons of small objects: how often do you dust and with what method? seems like a nightmare
>>10422401I have a room like that and usually dust during manic episodes. If I try to do it without being in that state of mind, it’s borderline impossible.
>>10422401They sell these cans of compressed air for cleaning electronics. They are really handy for cleaning little knickknacks.
>>10422394I have the full page :)I’ll post a few images of what my dorm very likely will look like.
>>10399549desu thrift stores, etsy, fb marketplace and flea markets will prolly be easiest for this
>>10385862i see questions like this asked a lot in threads like this and it seems like men generally dont give a shit
>>10422527I got a literal princess bedroom, only thing he demands is that I don't share it on social media
>>10422533lol get gud. my entire house is westhouse princess furniture and my bf loves the hell out of it.
>>10422489>>10422490>>10422492forgive me if I'm too off base but would something like this work?regardless of whether you like it or not, I really need to tell you, a comfortable rug is very important, for those late nights when you have your study materials sprawled out all over the floor because your desk will be too tiny
>>10422648Those are some good ideas so far anon. I was just looking into floor options.
>>10420483ail hail Kirstie Allsopp-sama and all her frumpy crafts, I love her
>>10385862I'm struggling with this myself, my partner's on board with the goth aesthetic, thankfully, but he can't stand frills or pomp.I'll try and find out whether or not he'll compromise and let me decorate the bedroom in a more decadent way, since I spend more time in there. Bonus: we were talking about what our dream house would look like - he immediately listed off floor-to-ceiling windows for the entire building and I nearly cried lmao. I want to live in a Victorian chocolatebox, not an office building baka
>>10424864I really want this loft bed but not only it is very expensive, it is also supposed to be a kids bed. Shame because it has everything I'm looking for in a loft bed (the staircase and big space under the bed among other things).
>>10424866This is so cute. Is the actual size of the bed too small for an adult? Now that tiny house aesthetics are in, I don’t think people immediately think loft bed = kids bed, so if it’s a regular sized bed on top I don’t think it would be weird to buy it as an adult
>>10424881I think an adult would fit length wise, but the width could definitely be a problem if you're used to bigger beds. At any rate this bed is in the kids section (it's a Filmore). I think I'll check the measurements more carefully when I have time and think about it.
>>10424881I checked and the top bunk is made to accommodate a twin size mattress, so 38 inch wide and 75 inch long / 96.5 cm side and 190.5 cm long. It's definitely smaller than my current bed but I'll advise. I've always dreamed of having a loft bed and while I know they're not convenient for many reasons, they also save a lot of space which I'm going to definitely need in the near future because I'm moving abroad.
>>10424866Fucking same. Would replace the bottom bed with a desk area and add some curtains.
>>10426561ayrt, I double checked and it turns out they do have it in full size beside twin size, which is absolutely perfect. I AM gonna buy it and I can't wait. My weebstation will be underneath for a comfy cave-like feeling and I like the idea of the curtains. I'll look for pretty, half-sheer ones like pic related, which I've been eyeing for a while now.
>>10422559>>10422527My bf loves and supports my style, my lolita fashion obsession, my stuffed animals, cutesy anime figs, all of it. He's a level headed dude, not into fandom or anime really but is a huge music head. As long as he has his studio he is happy to sleep in frilly floral sheets. He even takes pics of things while he's at the store that he thinks I would like or would fit our room ;u;
>>10426570Yes, good luck! The curtains you posted look cute as hell
I think my aesthetic sensibilities were strongly influenced by all the hidden object books I read as a kid, because I just love the look of cluttered rooms and walls covered in artwork.
I'm definitely taking some ideas from this thread, thank you everyone
>>10385453Looks like a cigarette
