Old thread hit image limit >>10318530This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. "Boystyle" is shorthand for "boystyle lolita" and refers to the masculine counterparts of Japanese lolita and, often, aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. Where can I find nice shoes new? I don't have a budget or anything special.
>>10371401because i wear gothic, i use Yosuke USA. what is your preferred style?for classic, American Duchess has a good reputation, but a limited selection ourside of women's sizes.Vivienne Westwood is an iconic brand for shoes, and has endured in ouji for decades, especially the rocking horse varieties.you can also look for specific styles of shoes. brogues are made by many brands and in many different colors and levels of quality. generally speaking, flat shoes do not work well for ouji. heels or platforms look better.
>>10371127What the hell is going on here, the sleeves are like 3/4 length with a cuff, vest is XBOX HUEG, these proportions are so insanely off it looks like they made the vest for a large man and the blouse for a small girl

I posted in the coord feedback thread and only got one reply. Help a beginner ouji out?I’m short so I’m down for any kind of shoes as a manlet. I have brown skin so I’m thinking a soft brunet wig, but again, I’m down for anything.
>>10381487your basic foundation is solid. focusing on blue as the accent color is a good choice, since it is a common colorway so you will be able to build off of it easily.the coord overall seems gothic, so avoid rounded elements when you are shopping for shoes: no bows unless they are similarly bat-like, like the collar of the blouse. you also want shoes with drama to match the gothic vibe. we discussed potential gothic shoe brands upthread.as for wig color, i think general beauty advice websites or tutorials may be more helpful than this thread. there is no rule about ouji hair color so it will just come down to your personal preference.
>>10381564cheers, thanks for the helpful reply. yes, it is gothic, since that's the only thing i really enjoy.
>>10381487Get a coat/cape/vest. True they're not 100% necessary but they're a good thing to start with. Are you tucking the shirt in so we can see the waistband or letting the shirt cover it? Are you wearing Moitie socks or opaque tights? This isn't very clear.
I am slowly trying to build myself an Ouji wardrobe, however most of the vest I own are too short to wear with pants. I have a bunch of vests and coats by AatP and they are all fine for Lolita, as the shortness doesn’t look off with a skirt/dress, but since I have a long torso it looks bad with pants. Any recommendations for brands that make longer vests? I was thinking about Triple Fortune maybe, as their items tend to fit well on western people, but I would like to know other people’s experience.
>>10381764Thought about a cummerbund rather than buying a bunch of new vests?
>>10381766All my pants are already high waisted, as those are the only ones that fit with my length, so that unfortunately won’t help. (Even with the high waist it still sits just a little below my waist.)
>>10381696I’m wearing the moitie socks over the tights. I don’t want to show my legs at all. But if the OTKs come up high enough then I should be fine.I’ll be tucking the shirt in. Thanks for the suggestion for a vest! Apologies for how unclear the image was.
>>10381487Depending on how short you are the lace may be covered by the trousers and only create an expensive and uncomfortable bump. You will also have to sew the ribbons to the place you want them to be or rearrange them every other step (I've owned a couple of the older releases). Focus on garments such as waistcoats/coats rather than umbrellas imo, maybe a black waistcoat and a blue flower clip/brooch.
>>10381764>Any recommendations for brands that make longer vests?Boz, BPN, and AatP even though the ones you currently have do not work. they may long vests often
>>10381815>You will also have to sew the ribbons to the place you want them to be or rearrange them every other step (I've owned a couple of the older releases).holy shit anon, just use fucking sock glue.
possible indie ouji brand to check out: https://calomelsha.stores.jp/Calomels is a "classical" brand that seems pricey, a bit like Innocent World. however, the quality seems closer to "decent handmade" rather than "boutique brand" like IW is.

>>10384434oh god it's so fucking wrinkly.

>>10370402Why didnt anyone put Ouji-Armoire in the links list?
>>10386726well, link it now
>>10386726it has been dead for a long time
>>10386844https://ouji-armoire.tumblr.com/Like this?>>10387039Even still, it has an immense library on their tags and lots of good inspo. It had all the BPN, Putomayo and remnants of the time where AatP and AP produced very quality ouji pieces, pieces that today doesnt exist anymore even on the 2nd hand market.
>>10381773You could still wear the cummerbund higher or choose a particuarly wide one.
This collection has made me wish for elaborate ouji prints, the detail and texture of this is so cool, I didn't know it was possible before. I think the material/process is very expensive, and chiffon is cheaper and easier to work with, so.. just dresses, for the most part, save for the rare couple examples of border print jackets we've seen from smaller brands.
>>10387296That would mean you would first see the band of my high waist pants which all have decorated buttons on it and everything, and then above that you will see the cummerbund. I don’t think that will look good at all.
>>10387296i don't think cummerbunds are ouji at all...
>>10387177there is more accurate info about those items on lolibrary, i believe. Buttcape has been adding them to the site.even with the shopping guides, people complain that things are not up-to-date. linking a dead blog does not seem like a good idea.
>>10387859 (ctd)with the armoire, the original information they provide is limited. for example, they have partially accurate information about substyles, but with mistakes that make it not a good resource for education. mostly they mischaracterize what sweet vs classic ouji is, which is a fundamental issue to be incorrect about. however, the tag page is intense: https://ouji-armoire.tumblr.com/tagsi think you are right in that it could be a resource for finding coords, even if some are miscatagorized. maybe if we add it to the OP, we can include a caveat to treat their information about ouji substyles with caution. the usefulness of the blog seems to be in finding coords by item, rather than as a "guide" to the style.

corsets continue to rise in popularity in alternative jfash. will you use one in your coord, /ouG/?
>>10416013ty for reminding me! i'm currently seasoning my first big boi (properly boned) corset in anticipation of 8/8 and I had forgotten to put it oni was kind of ambivalent about corsets when they started becoming a thing in ouji, but that was when i though i was more butch than i really am, and now i appreciate the gothic vibes and structure they add
>>10416196i think they can look great with gothic too. i do not have one, but i am tempted to get one. my usual silhouette is loose and flowing, so it would be a big change.
>>10416013I’m more tempted to buy one every time I see one. Tho I read that Japanese corsets are shit for westerners with more pronounced waists, so as someone with a lot of natural difference between underbust and waist measurements I fear for how it will fit. I have a western one that I really like and that fits well, but it’s a tad to long and fucks up the silhouette. Can someone confirm that these are really not good or is that just a meme made by people who don’t know how to wear a corset right and try to tightlace when it’s not necessary?
>>10417162Corsets should match your measurements. There are many different cuts of corset even among western manufacturers, because people have different body shapes. If you're pear shaped, you need a corset with a much larger hip spring. Your corset should fit snug to your ribs and hips, and can apply reduction to the waist. I'm not familiar with Japanese corsets, but if the rib spring and hip spring are too narrow for your measurements, its going to be hell on your body. And if its an actual steel-boned corset, trying to squeeze into a poorly fitted corset could cause nerve damage.Basically corsets are complicated. If its a plastic-boned cheaply made fashion corset, you don't have to worry about a lot of this because its not going to really act as a real "corset" and give you any sort of waist reduction. It just looks cute. You can't really call them corsets. If you're looking into a REAL corset, then you need to take your measurements and buy something that matches your torso length, hip spring, and rib spring measurements.
>>10417162From what I've seen, most Japanese corsets probably wouldn't work for you because the underbust and the waist measurements are pretty close. Maybe check out the brand that made your current corset and see if they have a waspie?
Anyone know of good tutorials or videos on how to style wigs for ouji? Most of what I've found are better suited for cosplay
can anyone recommend lederhosen that might ork well with ouji? Would it work better with or without suspenders?
>Mfw my comm told a newb that you can't wear pants with ouji and that they should invest in pumpkin shorts.
>>10419212lolitas don't know shit about ouji life
>>10417487No, you do not match your measurements if you are wearing a proper corset. You optimally go for 2-4 inches below your actual waist for the size of the corset, if it’s a proper, steel boned corset. Steel is the modern replacement of older forms of boning, such as whalebone. You do not want a plastic boned corset, they deform really easily. This is the only instance where matching your measurements should really apply, but even then, be careful.
