Old thread died because it had a shit OP pic. All nail related topics go here! I'll dump some images too so lmk any requests.
Super cute for pop kei or fairy kei in different colors. Love stuff like this, but don't wear my nails like this.
>>10342207My nails are actually styled like this right now (I'm using magnets in my extensions for the bear, wouldn't want that on 24/7 for two weeks. (not my pic)
>>10342202Are there any tutorials out there on how to achieve this look? I'm a total nail newb but I love the concept of deco nail art like this. Are they pre-made nails or do people actually slap these little plastic pieces, pearls and rhinestones onto their nails?
>>10343611I think the nails in OP are a set, but many people (myself included) do their real nails like this. The pieces are made with acrylic powder which is created directly on the nail so it forms to the shape, but you can use thick potted gel as well. There are also molds that you can use with special nail materials or soft resin to get a similar look. If you live near a big city you likely have a salon that does atleast something similar to this. I also make sets like in OP with the deco and all that.
I love the kind of ott nails in this thread but I don't wear sweetI would love if someone could dump some gothic/classic inspo! <3
>>10343623You got it bb.
>>10343631There tend to be a lot more chips (probably because people don't want to wear these for 2 weeks, so I'll post a lot of those.
>>10343638>>10343637Yea there are a lot of tackier ones especially since there are so many dark/punky fashions in Japan. (hope I'm heading in the right direction).
>>10343631ty i luv u dump-chan
>>10343644This one's a bit on the punkier side but could still look good.
>>10343646>>10343645You're welcome! I just really love OTT nails.
I love deco nails but it’s really hard to masturbate with them
>>10343649Especially for gothic, a lot of sets tend to swing a bit GAL or punk or menhera but still have a good basic feeling of gothic.
>>10343652Something like pic related is a good bridge of classic and gothic though.
>>10343653There are a lot of nice sets for classic, but some of the colors tend to be more on the sweet side of things.
>>10343658Pic related would look great in a variety of colors. The pattern stamped onto the nail makes it very versatile with classic.
>>10343662A lot of damask nails which would look great for goth in black and mmm blue!>>10343661What's manlier than wearing/dressing however you want and telling everyone else to fuck off?
>>10343661gay or trans is my guess
>>10343667A bit plain, but still very versatile.
>>10343676Overdesigned floral nails tend to read a bit too hime or general princessy.
>>10343677But simple designs can help give it a more subdued elegance.
>>10343680Pressed flowers really give a nice touch!>>10343679Then enjoy I guess? Everyone loves looking at beauty.
>>10343682Colors can definitely affect the way the nails come across too!
>>10343684These are beautiful with slightly weak execution.
I want to do Sailor Moon themed nails someday!
>>10343693>>10343695They sell a lot of these locket deco pieces on taobao/aliexpress or rakuten. Same with CCS staffs!
Choco nails are my favorite, even after valentines. Sometimes I want to just buy only chocolate themed things and never wear anything else!
>>10343707Yeah, that's what I said. I really like the idea but the execution isn't great. The hand glazed porcelain look would really look amazing by someone better at freehand.
>>10343712Cute idea for honey cake anons!
>>10343715If you're wondering what's up with the lattice on the choco nails, it's based off a popular chocolate by Lotte called Sasha, almost all Japanese chocolate nail designs include it. Springtime is coming though so it's time for berries!
>>10343719>>10343718You read my mind!
>>10343733Unsurprisingly there are a lot of bad strawberry nail sets. Finding good ones has been tasking.
>>10343737>>10343736Good to hear!
>>10343679you need a qt lolita gf to shower with brand then
>>10343742Berries and cream is so cute!
>>10343747Cute nails and perhaps even...love?>>10343754>>10343756Whoops nevermind.
>>10343758I'm trying to steer away from anything with those godawful polymer chips.
>>10343774>>10343768>>10343766>>10343765STFU and enjoy nails dammit!
Moving right along. Spring/Easter nails are next!
>>10343786>>10343782>>10343784Both of you idiots are preventing everyone from enjoying the cute stuff so stop.
>>10343787I love you dump anon, thank you for the inspo and also keeping the thread from derailing <3 do you happen to have some nails with birds as motif?
>>10343787can you get stick-ons like this? I could see myself wanting these just for one event
>>10343799Only if someone makes them!>>10343792>>10343796Thanks guys! I will post the birds in a bit, anon. Gotta eat.
>>10343901>hobo lookin naillmao
>>10343905Who said hobos can't be kawaii?
>>10343661Same dude.I got into the hobby of nail art and started giving my girlfriend gel manicures. I used to be an insecure faggot about it, but hearing her friends compliment her nails and her praise my skills is really worth it. Its similar to resin crafting.
Do you have any red/black goth inspired nails?
>>10347455Preferably with roses/death as a motif over crucifixes, sorry forgot to specify.
Does anybody else fucking love kawaii Halloween nails?
I would die to have nails like these unfortunately no nail salon in my area makes those are there any press-ons I could buy somewhere?
>>10347539Search deco nails on etsy and click on the accessories filter.
Nail page from glb #5
Just a question for the deco fake nails are they reusable..? They are attached with nail glue but how are they removed?
>>10347708Anything attached with nail glue will pop off eventually unless you break it and force the rest off. So yes, they’re reusable. Eventually they’ll get chipped/dingy over time though.
>>10343649I love the chain but I can only think of how shitty itll look in 2 weeks when they grow out even a little bitDo people get their nails done that often? Isn't it quite a bit more expensive in japan than the US (Can't speak for EU because I have no clue). I'm not exactly a poorfag but that seems like so much money dumping over $100 USD per set every 2 weeks or more.
>>10343650Get a toy and treat tour vagina AND your nails with love bb
I just ordered a bunch of supplies to finally make deco nails because it's been my dream for years. How butt hurt will people be if I put "Brand Whore" on my nails in 3D? It's the perfect amount of letters for 10 fingers.
>>10347735They could just touch up that one finger, the pricing will differ accordingly
>>10351734I personally don't get mad at the brandwhore meme and besides, if you spent so much time on those deco nails I don't think people would complain
>>10351734If you get into it enough and decide to sell, I want to buy some cute deco nails, anon.
>>10351761Yeah I know the stigma is mostly gone, but some people still hate on it. I guess I should just go for it. >>10351835Honestly that would be my dream. I've been looking for a reason to get back into my art side and I'm hoping this is it.
>>10343677These are water transfers, right? Is there anywhere i can get good bulk ones for cheap?
I need to find a nice moite blue polish, any tips? Preferably in both regular and metallic
>>10351734Do it and use different fonts from brand logos for each letter <3
>>10342212this is so freaking cute. If only my nails werent so damaged from my last set, I would totally get something like this.Imagine if the bear was like the vivienne westwood pendants, where you could like move the little limbs
>>10352388Best tip is to wear your Moitie out and match the shade in person. Even Moitie blue varies between Moitie items and some stuff seems downright navy even when it's supposedly "blue"
>>10343677You say that like it’s a bad thing
>>10351872>the stigmaI’ve only seen a couple edge lords here and a few tumblrinas complain about the brand whore meme. It’s been around for ages. No one gives a shit.
>>10351734my issue with that is that you'll have the word whore on one hand.i've been selling deco nails for a while so if anyone wants any let me know!
>>10354906Post examples? I'm looking to buy deco nails
>>10343672Matte finish makes up for it <3
Does anyone have any shops recommendations for these kinds of nails? My skills are too amateur :')
>>10354912>>10368046pic related is some of my stuff. i had mostly been selling offline before, but trying to sell online now because of corona. if anyone is interested i will drop my email!
I'm a nail tech with a disgustingly huge inspo folder, spam incoming
>>10369305hello fellow weeby nail tech!
>>10369307>>10369310Hey! Nice to meet you
>>10369313It's gonna be a mix of cute stuff and more Gothic stuff, I'm eclectic af
>>10369327I love these so much, would be great with any chocolate kumya printsDoes anyone have links to good deco nail shops on etsy that are open?
posting a japanese nail art reference sitehttps://nailbook.jp/
>>10369351>>10369349bless you anon, thank you
>>10369253Do u have an online shop or blog / portfolio type thing? I’d love to see more!Btw, is it normal to have a faux nail collection? If so how are they normally stored?
>>10369407neon sanrio vomit aesthetic
>>10369415>>10369412less glamsusie stuff please, i hate the shitty polymer clay she uses.
>>10369366right now i am just using my resin shop IG if you want that since l don't have many pre-made sets or anything. I have some salon/self-nail photos too.
>>10369416Ew, I hadn't even noticed they were full cover nails. I just assumed they were sculpted, oof. The more I look, the nastier it gets.
>>10369434it's fine, i saw those on pinterest before too and thought they were nice. i will dump some stuff too!
>>10369442pic related is a nail salon featured on nailbook.jp that i really like. look them up if you like!
what are some of your favorite products for doing nails? i'm in the process of learning how to work with polygels and i like them a lot,but i'm thinking of switching to acrylic soon and am looking for some new brands.
>>10369327fuck i want to buy this or something like it. links?
>>10369436Honestly, now you've told me they're clay I can't stop cringing lol, serves me right for always mass downloading pics. Your pics are super cute anon
>>10369456for extensions, i swapped from acrylics to hard gels 5 years ago, and have been recommending them to my clients for a while now too. it took a while (and many products) to get the same results from gels as the acrylics, especially when doing self-nails and especially for doing things like clear glitter sets. i recently bought this product that is a soak off for extensions, it self-levels really well so it's super easy to do yourself! for color, i only recommend japanese products now. the japanese pot gels are nice and thick and go on smoothly on either acrylic or gel extensions, and can some what be used for deco, but for deco i usually still use either traditional acrylic or even colored polygel! sometimes i will use the pot gel in molds though if i am being lazy, because it is flexible and you can make it look like a good acrylic deco job with less work! as far as brands for acrylic i kind of just get whatever, but i am more picky about monomer and use the Elfa Nomma Plus Acrylic Liquid Monomer, since that's the one my old salon used.
>>10369462haha i felt the same way. i hate anything made of polymer clay period! i really like your pics too! thanks for sharing!
>>10369464Mood, other nail tech anon here, I've been using poly-gel on all my clients with amazing success (until lockdown lol). Polygel is amazing for sticking charms and bling to existing nails. Like, Polygel, uncured + uncured gel topcoat, stick whatever stuff you want there, cure and bam, rhinestones for days. My last client had full deco/bling nails and she'd lost 1 rhinestone in 4 weeks, and she works at a supermarket. It's the best technique I've ever learned.
>>10369471polygel is super awesome. quick, easy and lighter than acrylic, with all the good aspects of both. but my salon didn't use it for some reason haha! i haven't recently because of the virus, but i always deco/bling out of my own nails and i sometimes struggle to get them off. i've gotten tons of clients just because they compliment me over it. if i had to add another tip to this add to the thread. never use nail glue for deco, and i wouldn't go to a salon that does either. also, rhinestone gel that you can buy on amazon and whatnot actually works pretty well! you can adhere deco/bling with the gel onto any type of enhancement or polish as long as it's buffed properly!
>>10369464>>10369471 >>10369473that's really interesting! i wasn't sure if i lowkey fucked myself over by learning polygels first, but it seems like a lot of people are making the switch. i'm going to order a small amount of acrylic to practice with and some hard gels. now that i have been wearing polygel for a while and its so much more comfortable than acrylics.how do you go about filling in nail molds? i've seen some people just use gel polish and others use polygels. i'm assuming it doesn't matter too much.
>>10369475there's no way you fucked yourself. all product has a learning curve, even from brand to brand just look up tutorials and the rest is trial and error. when i first started doing my own gels they lifted. are you using the polygels with dual forms? also what type of mold do you mean? like dual forms or, deco molds?
>>10369476the first few sets i did popped off like instantly, but i've fixed it mostly. the set i have on right now have been on for a week with no lifting yet. i've been just doing tips and nail forms, i absolutely hate dual forms. im looking in to deco molds to make some more OTT nails.
>>10369479deco molds are super easy to use, just use either the polygel or regular colored gel and fill the mold and pop it into your UV lamp and cure it for about 1 minute. then wipe the bottom sticky layer. it will come out of the mold easy and the rest won't be sticky since it wasn't exposed to the air. i feel you on dual forms, regular forms are easier to use in general. dual forms seemed nice to me because they come out shaped pretty nice and without the inhibition layer on the top, but they're annoying to gauge the apex and the inhibition layer being under the nail is annoying as fuck. also i just get molds from aliexpress because it's cheap silicone either way. sorry if i am over-explaining everything btw.
>>10369485not over explaining at all, it's super helpful, thank you! i feel like everyone made dual forms seem so convenient and easy but they take so much longer than just sculpting a nail. i don't really know why anyone would use them.
>>10369479Honestly, I've been doing nails for nearly 7 years and sometimes my sets decide to pop off. It's all in the prep, keep going anon!
>>10369491the main draw of them is that you don't have to file the top, but you do. let me know if you have any more questions!
posting a few more nails and then going for a bit.
So does anyone know any good shops for this or what?
>>10343739well, I tried.
>>10376891I like your thumb a lot. If this was your first time, it turned out pretty well.
>>10377033Thank you. It was my first time trying a gingham pattern.
I have to type all day and I can’t stand the sensation of long nails hitting the keyboard. Is there any way for short nails to look cute?
>>10369338They could also look like you got shit under your nails and didn’t wash them.
>>10377208I just do a basic halo top coat and be done with it
nail tech anon here, any other nail tech/self-nailers ITT? i have been really lazy about my nails lately, planning on doing crazy extensions once quarantine is over.
>>10378962I'm not a tech, but I do my own with regular polish. I bought some equipment to start doing gel, but I still need to buy a gel base.
>>10384190Nayrt. Might be the angle but rounding the corners of every nail except the pinky makes it look like a Coke nail I m h o. Love the colors though!
>>10385209ew. it's just the angle, here's a pic of the ring finger at different angles
i feel like the pinky looks longer than the rest of the nails. you might want to shorten it a bit it's a common myth that all the nails should be the same literal length. try making the ratio of free edge to nail plate the same on all the nails to make them look more uniform.
>>10369253If you're still around anon pls drop email/etsy link!
Question! So I have some nails I want to wear soon and the press on sticky’s are not stable enough. I was wondering if I used clear nail polish on my nails before gluing them if they would hold glued on nails but not damage my nail? My nails are really thin and brittle even with all the vitamins and shit I use to maintain them. I want pretty nails but I’m tired of the stickers popping off after a day of typing. Thanks in advance.
>>10386721I am! Feel free to email me here.
>>10386696and then have a super long thumb because it's the widest>acting like you're speaking facts vs myths when you're actually saying personal opinions
>>10386883>widest>doesn't realize i'm talking about length>doesn't realize i've been a nail tech for 5+ yearsno one's thumb nail plate is the longest. most people's 1st, 2nd and middle finger are the same, and pinky and thumb are about the same so making them a bit longer actually makes them look the same length. every salon is going to do that, you just don't notice it. when doing self-nails you can cater to your own nails better, so you use a ratio.
>>10386886>no one's thumb nail plate is the longestI have plenty of time in quarantine to argue about dumb shit.
>>10386924do you even know what i'm talking about? also you have a nail fungus...
>>10387014It looks like residue from acrylics, not a fungus
>>10387023It's the damage from picking at chipped polish, or the eczema, or a light reflection, or a million other things this 'expert' is thirsty to misidentify in order to assert superiority.
>>10387023>>10387033NTA but the color looks pretty bad to me, she obviously doesn't mean the residue... Whoever >>10386924 is, you sound like a bitch and clearly don't know anything about nails considering you pick yours. A quick google search show's she is correct about the filing length.
>>10386924you know the nail plate is the part that's attached to the skin. just from your photo, your thumb and pinky are the same length. length is from the cuticle to the free edge, not across...
>>10387049this. why would we listen to nail advice from someone who picks her nails? it's not like nail tech is an uncommon job so i'm inclined to believe some anons are.>One of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection. google is your friend
>>10387066Nails can also be stained yellow from regular painting though, especially the use of dark nail polishes. Nails aren't naturally perfectly white all the time.
>>10387051there's not even a pinky in that photo... and anyone who paints nails knows >>10387164I was down to argue about length and shape, but now that it's gotten into pseudoscience personal attacks I'm going to leave this be. The fact that the people I'm talking to can't even tell what finger they're looking at is sufficient for me. Even that (ring) finger is not close to the thumb in length - a nail tech can see there was a clear spot due to natural oils and the real nail plate attaches further down. Here's a simpler photo to prove the original point that the thumb can have the longest nail plate.I'm going to peace out before the expert starts teaching gulls that temporary clear spots on nails are a sign of cancer and that a long thumb plate is an exclusively subhuman trait.
>>10386881>>10386721So sorry I never got back with anon after they came in, but they were cute as hell and well made!! If you make a storefront I will be happy to review positively
>>10387339God you are so rude! Nail anon wasn't even talking to you and you still don't seem to get what she was saying. Not to mention that you're still fucking wrong about what you're trying to claim.
>>10387349Hi! No problem! I was moving and just settled in. I am setting up an etsy shop in a few weeks so I'll just email you a link if that's okay. I am so glad you like them, and hope you get a lot of use out of them!
>>10387555Awesome thanks!! I have people who are asking so I’ll be glad to have a link!
>>10387561Great! I'm not going to put a ton up at first, but wanted to offer a few options. I will probably make some similar ones to yours available too!
>>10369348Love love love these so much
>>10369351Something about polka dots on nude toned nails just makes me think “diseased”Not blaming dump-Chan or anything because everything else is beautiful to me except that one nail
>>10387572different anon but will you be posting the etsy link here or should I email you as well? im extremely interested.
>>10389098I will post it here! Should have it up sometime next week!
Just posting my new set. I did try the heart cut out with the e-file (I think that was in last thread) and it worked really well.
Has anyone tried buying nails from here?https://www.creema.jp/listing/158?material=7
>>10389098>>10387561Hi, I'm having to deal with some Covid stuff so I didn't put anything online but if you want to contact me via email feel free to!
