Reposting since the last thread archived before anyone could reply. This towel turned out to be much bigger than I expected and didn't really fit into the bag. I tried folding it so that at least the band's name would be visible but the only way to do that was to also fold part of the middle under itself. What do you think, does it look okay even with the big fold down the middle or should I just scrap the idea and not keep the towel in the bag?
>>10276004I think you should take the towel out and get a backing fabric. Just use the towel as a cute cape or something else.
>>10276004It's so damn rare to see another SHfag outside JP twitter. A+++ taste my man. I want to try making one as well once I can find a fitting bag.Seconding taking the towel out though. Iirc there's the SH 5th anniversary towel which might be able to fit better, but it's probably hard to obtain that now. If anything, you can always go for a roses motif backing fabric too.
>hot glue your charms https://youtu.be/w5bw29tixyg
>>10276700Is it low temp glue on the plastic side, not the art side? That MIGHT be safe .....???
>>10276004If you want to use the towel design as a background, one idea is to scan the towel and vector over the design, colour it, then print it to proper bag scale with spoonflower/another fabric company? Then you still have the design in the bag, and can use the towel elsewhere so people at least know you own the original piece
>>10276700>>10276947Just from the image she’s glueing it on the area that doesn’t have artwork printed, not a bad idea since hot glue at the lower temps just peels off fabric and acrylic.
>>10276991I checked it out and she is putting a huge hot glue drop on the fabric and pressing the charm on it, art and all.
>>10276700>>10277052Looks like she's not gluing on the printed side, as far as I can tell. Still, not the way I'd do it. Too much room for error and messing your charms up.
>>10276972this is the best advice in this situationand if you cant vector you could try asking some anons over at >>>/w/ in the vector thread
I want to make a Jason Dean (Heathers) bag, but I can't figure out what would be a good base bag for it.
>>10279778Depends on what merch you have, I'd say blue or black would be fine.
Where can I buy an ita bag with a triangle window?
>>10284753This is for a Promare bag, isn't it
>>10284754It might be for that boy from A3
>>10281005Maybe a black bag with blue as the backing? I'm getting art commissioned for the merch (by one artist so it's stylistically consistent). Was going to do a blend of the musical and movie interpretation.>>10284758i can't help who i love, anon
These bags look pretty cute with a good theme for a Kickstarter itabag.
>>10285272>i can't help who i love, anonyikes
>>10285750Aww, these are so cute.
>>10285263God tier taste, anon!>>10285750Oh wow these are actually pretty cute and I want the daisy one for every day wear.
>>10286080>itabag of himselfLegend.
>>10285750I think they still would be better for a normie bag, but still very very cute.
>>10286073Love this, great way to hide your power level
>tfw I was dumb enough to miss a preorder, so now I have to pay a $10 mark up from a reseller because the original store doesn't have the color I want anymore.
I’ll finally contribute a half decent bag here now that these threads are dying. :^)I’m also mobile posting so sorry if the image is giant.
>>10290028Wow, that is gorgeous!
Heading to tokyo soon and new to itabagging, any good physical stores to buy my first bag? does zakkamart have a physical location?
>>10290319When I was in Tokyo earlier this year, Wego in Ikebukuro Parco had a huge section only for itabags. I don't think Zakka has a physical store.
>>10284758shut up, heather
>>10279778Any shape would be fine, but for whatever reason I imagine a black box bag with a red or blue insert would look nice. Perhaps even a subtle pattern of crossbones or slurpees or something. I think the other anon is right, it really depends on your merch
>>10286065for tiny husbandos and waifus
Do people still want those daiso heart tote bags (pic related)? I have a stash I meant to use for something which didn't work out and I don't know if it's worth selling or if I should donate it.
>>10291569Sell it. Make some cash, fampai
>>10291569How big are they? If you frequently go to cons, I'm sure they'd go great at a swap meet
>>10291698Would it be worth trying the itabag fb group? I notice these threads have slowed down a lot, not sure if it's the same elsewhere.>>10291741They're a good size! I don't have a measuring tape on hand right now but pic related is in comparison to an A4 clearfile for quick reference. I'll post another with merch too.
>>10292453And with merch (not my bag).
>>10292454And one more bag from nostalgia.
>>10292453What colours do you have and how much would you be looking for them?
>>10291569I'd definitely be interested, especially if you have a lavender one!
>>10292453I've never personally used it, but it's worth a try. I see a lot of people selling on Depop as well.
probably won't keep the plushie on when I'm out though, unless I find some kind of cover for it. (some recomendations would be appreciated)

>>10296475Cute bag!! Can I ask where you got that gold fou pin?
>>10296794I got it during a con this past summerthe artist is minsgraph on twit
>>10296627Oh god the first one comes in the colours of my latest fictional crush. I didn't need to see that and be tempted.Question for you guys. Do any anon's have recommendations of artist that take on acrylic standee commissions? Or can even direct me to a more appropriate thread to ask? The main fandom I bag for doesn't make a lot of offical ones and I'm starting to get desperate.

>>10296475I'm working on a Gil bag and have the same plushie. Why isn't a good idea to keep it on without a cover?
>>10297167I just don't want to have to wash it, so if it doesn't get gross from hanging outside, I'll almost never have to
hey anons, the knockoff bag i got 3 years ago for 20hkd (less than 3usd) from a random cosplay shop in hong kong is finally on its last legs. i looked through the google doc linked in the op for taobao shops for base bags but the product links seem to be broken on my end, as taobao links usually and eventually do. i'm looking for a taobao shop with the same classic design in white/pink like my current bag. it's gotta be able to fit a laptop/A4 folders. and it's gotta be sturdy so the straps don't give out with heavy weight like laptops. i'll also take other cute designs- i have a penchant for bunny ears- but the main thing is size, sturdiness, and baby pink x white. don't want to shop around unknown stores by just searching the relevant terms, so a little spoonfeeding would be greatly appreciated. thanks gulls
>>10297231Asking for links for bootlegs of this bag in this thread is a bad idea, anon. This bag is very similar, less frowned upon, without glitter and from what I've heard, decent quality. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z0k.7385961.1997985097.d4918997.71416eb2zGLro3&id=555659841034&_u=t2dmg8j26111
>>10297231berry q's bags are massive and they look pretty solid so I'd assume they'd be able to hold your laptop. I'll link the heart shaped one below but they also have rectangular bags, if the shape is too unwieldy https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=567075721849
>>10297234>>10297240thanks a ton for the links anons!>Asking for links for bootlegs of this bag in this thread is a bad idea, anon.oops, i should have clarified that i'm willing to shell out for the original but would rather go for an original design from taobao instead since i can order directly from them. wasn't sure if i could get what i was looking for from taobao but your links have been super helpful. worst case scenario i'll get the real deal but those should do nicely! thanks!
hey team, could anyone help me dig up a taobao link for this bag? to be honest, i’m not sure if such a listing even exists, but a friend is doing a group order, so i figured i should try to find onethank you in advance! i’m not very adept at browsing taobao just yet
>>10297245The original isn’t made anymore because of bootlegs.
>>10296915I'm scared...hold me gulls....
>>10296915I just noticed that those aren't even buttons in the "rosettes"it's just printed paper
>>10297308taobao doesn't have the specific bag you want, but there are a couple similar oneshttps://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=605397960463 (I used this one here >>10296475, the back panel of the window attaches to the bag by velcro)https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=599476501166if you're open to looking in other places, rakuten has a bunch of listingshttps://search.rakuten.co.jp/search/mall/スターアイサイトリュック
what's the general consensus on these bags? the sun/moon ones look pretty decent and their inserts don't seem too bad either, but those are some pretty ass prices
>>10298977Circles. What an innovation.
>>10298977Unless these are made with real leather, I'm not seeing where that $75 / $80 price is coming from.
>>10299077Real leather bags that are niche or high quality can and often do cost far more than $80
>>10299077because they're clearly meant for pin collectors that want to feel special.
>>10298977I saw the moon one before and thought it looked cute, except once you add pins to it and obscure the moon then it's just a circle bag. These people need to learn to design the outside of the bag, not just the inserts. Too many bags lately are a standard template bag with different shapes cut out of it. And that's an absurd amount of money for it.
>>10298977I ended up buying the coffin clutch this weekend because of aesthetics. There are larger/vertical coffin window itabags out there, but it looks normal enough to bring to the grocery store and the build looks sturdy.A lot of other creators are jumping on the itabags for pins market. I actually saw someone carrying this type of bag at the last con I went to with a beautiful Sailor Moon themed layout. When I looked it up, it's $100 and advertised as an itabag but all the display photos on their shop use pins only.
How do you all store/display badges that you're not currently using in a bag?
>>10299167i use a corkboard, which is perfect for pin and charm display and pretty good for buttons
>>10299077But pleather shouldn't cost nearly $100, you know? It's not like these are very big either.>>10299106I would think they'd want to spend that money on pins more than the bag itself.
thinkin about layouts and fb has only given me one (1) useful comment bakaI don't really want to stick the badges outside of the window though, since I don't have covers handy and I'm terrified of them possibly falling off
>>10300227I'm not familiar with the characters but it looks sort of off with the blonde guy on the side. Have you considered putting his merch in the middle then one brunette character to his left and one to his right?
>>10300227Would you consider only using one or two of the characters for this bag? As it is now, it doesn't seem to have much harmony. If you do choose to use only one or two of the characters, try thinking about the balance of your layout and where you want to put your emphasis. When I look at your bag, my eyes go straight to the charms with the white background. See if you can put those in a set place where it will draw your attention and fit well with the rest of your pieces. I hope that helps a bit and isn't too vague!
>>10300227I think you should just have the MCs in that bag and get Gil his own. It looks lopsided because you don't have as much merch as him. And evenly splitting male and female MCs would make it easier on the eyes.
>>10300227>>10300233Seconding this. I think Gil would look great with each Hakuno(n) on either side!
>>10296475>babylonia strapFff, I rolled 10 times at the exhibit and couldn't get him and the strap sells so fast on secondhand sites. I'm jealous of your luck but incredibly happy to see a fellow fan!>>10300227Loving the idea. I agree with >>10300233 and >>10300381, centering gil's merch will look better aesthetically both because you have less merch from him and because of his color palette. I have an enkidu and gil bag where I mirrored everything exactly, otherwise it looks too messy.
Hate to ask to be spoon-fed but does anyone have a taobao link? Microwave isn't turning anything up
>>10303891What character are you planning to put in this?
>>10304162Lol SQQ and LBH from Scum Villain. It's too perfect not to. Also I found the link to the taobao store if anyone else wants it. Pre-orders start 12/20
>>10304219Share store, please.
My friend has a really bad looking itabag, like one of those generic bow bags with all the merch carelessly thrown in it. She brags about how she is known for this itabag but I’m so afraid she’ll be made fun of behind her back since it’s honestly so bad looking. What’s a polite way to ask to rearrange it for her? I was thinking about getting her a better bag for Christmas to help.
>>10304425Maybe tell her you're thinking of adding some new merch to/rearranging your own bag, and ask if she would like to join you? I've had meetups with friends like that before and it was nice to get advice when I usually don't have the opportunity to receive a second opinion (I don't really post my bags anywhere). I hope that might help.
>>10306148I like these a lot better than the sakura window backpacks.
>>10299167I keep badges in a box, but for keychains and the like I have a little jewelry display rack that I hang them on, which looks really nice
>>10306148These are adorable but I can't think of anything I'd be able to put into these.
>>10306577or any really explicitly japanese characters
>>10306577Nah, I meant that the bag is cute and I kind of want it, but none of the characters I like enough to bag would fit in there. I can think of lots of characters in general that the bag could be used for, but I'm not gonna start bagging a new character just because I like a base bag.
Any enstars folks know if this is real merch or a bootleg? I love it. I might be retarded but I can't find anything about this strap online
>>10313027Did you even tryhttps://myfigurecollection.net/item/519544
>>10313040Thank you anon I'm fucking braindead
How do y'all sell your merch... I've posted in the FB group and gotten like a single bite. I'm practically giving stuff away just because having it take up space is starting to give me anxiety and I just want it gone, but still nothing. Are people just not shopping right now?
>>10313200>https://myfigurecollection.net/item/519544It's right after Christmas, anon. People aren't really doing shopping right now unless they got gift cards for the holidays. Weebs sales tend to pick up before/during con season.
>>10304219I'm late but holy shit please post your bag when it's done because that's a 10/10 idea. Now I want a shizun microwave bag too haha
>>10313200You can try MFC's Group Orders club , where it's permitted to sell "leftovers". You can also try eBay. It's a pain in the ass no matter what, really. I really wish my country had a Surugaya or Lashinbang or anywhere that I could go dump off a ton of straps.
>>10306148Where can I get this?
Sorry if this is a really stupid and basic question, but if I want to add flowers to my bag like pic related should I add one of those pin backing brooch things (can't remember the term) to the flowers or just hotglue them onto the insert? My insert is separate from the bag so I don't mind either option.
>>10314481I haven't used silk flowers before, but I would try using safety pins first.
>>10314481Don't waste your effort. Just hotglue them on. The pin back will only shift around anyway.
>>10315706Do I love you? Yes I do. We share the same love for Bucciarati <3 Love your bag!
For those who have used them, how do you feel about mesh backed bags? I'm on the fence about getting WEGO's deco room bag but I'm not sure about the mesh.
>>10300227I’m working on a gilg/ozy bag atm. This is really neat to see! Love the gilg straps.
>>10316423I have a wego deco room... It's not meshed?
>>10316556They probably mean this one?
>>10316423the mesh one seems like a nuisance to me desu. i'm imagining keychain metal findings and pin backings getting stuck in there.
>>10316556>>10316689Ah yes that's the one I'm referring to! Should have added a picture. >>10316718I was thinking the same thing, but I'm trying to weigh if it's worth the risk of it getting stuck vs easier pinning. I guess I can try to see in person.
>>10298977>>10299077>balking at this price for a bagway to show you only shop for cheap shit
>>10316423>>10316689>>10316718I have this one and a larger one that's got the same mesh backing. desu I don't use the mesh to secure rubber straps or acrylics (lobster clasps come off easily in my experience), but it is really useful for pinning can badges to. Being able to see the angle of the pin is helpful. But I really got it because it's a built-in backing with velcro sewn in, so I don't have to fuss with making sure a homemade insert stays in place.I wouldn't trust that outside strap though. It just seems like merch would get flung off it too easily.
>>10316811lol ok anon
>>10316811>most bags are <$30 if you go through Taobao
>>10316811Bags from all of the major brands used in itabagging are cheaper than this. Wego, Salus, UtaPri bags, Swimmer, ToAlice, etc are all cheaper and more functional than these specific bags.
>>10316811You sound like the kind of person who thinks that the money you spend on an item equates to how good the item is. How naive.
>>10316811Guess the creator of those bags found the thread lol
Can anyone give me a good review for this bag? Thinking about using it for a base.
>>10317324Its shit. I'm not trying to deter you pattern wise, but construction wise its not good for anything but sitting on a desk. First week, both zippers broke and when I tried to see how it would look worn with a planned outfit for a con, one of the main straps snapped. On top of the creator being an art thief, she wouldn't hear any complaints when I emailed her about the problems. She told me I misused it and that it wasn't supposed to be worn for long periods since its just a display bag.Sell it to some tumblrite who doesn't know better. I tossed mine.
Anybody have more exemple of funny/ irronical itabag ( pic related ) ? I want to make me some dumb ones some day.
>>10320319This one still gets me. I wish I could find it, but I also love the Dr. Pepper itabag that's been posted in this thread before.
i've been out of the itabag game for awhile, but recently got inspired (and financially avaliable) to get hooked again. have to ask, are heart window bags still seen as overused/cringey? i'm kind of in love with them
>>10321039Overused absolutely. They're not always cringy though as long as it's nicely done.
>>10318128How is the creator an art thief? Does she sell other peoples art or something?
Threw something together for Miku Expo tomorrow. I need to get some repeating merch...
>>10321181All the art used for her pins is traced. Its all over her Instagram. It was the only way to contact her since she only sent copypasta emails when I had questions about my order.
>>10322103I wish I were you, anon. Your bag looks great and I hope you receive many blessings from being in the presence of the Goddess.
>>10322103This will please Miku!
Has anyone been able to attach a rosette to the outside of a PU bag without puncturing the material? I'm thinking maybe a magnet?
>>10322275use that stick on velcro!
>>10322275Depends if you’re picky about location, but I put mine on the very bottom of the straps. Obvi it’s a tote bag, but if you glue/tape/attach a hair tie or rubber band to the rosette and cut it, you can just tie it around the strap. I’ve done that with two of my bags. I could show you mine for an example if you want.I’d much rather damage the back of the rosette a little bit than my base bag.
I figured I could ask here. I'm a newbie buying with Japanese proxies. I bought an item from Surugaya using Japonica back on the 9th of this month. When they confirmed they bought it I made sure the listing wasn't there anymore(Since the item is kinda rare and they only had one) But I noticed a couple of days ago, said item came back in stock. And the item hasn't arrived at Japonica yet. Could it be the case the order was canceled or something and Japonica didn't tell me? Or I'm being paranoid?I've bought in Mercari before with them and items didn't take that long to get into their office.
>>10322280Thank you!>>10322363Unfortunately it's more of a crossbody style, but I'll keep that in mind for any totes I go for in the future!
>>10322878Email Japonica if you're really concerned. You paid them for service, they can answer your questions. Anons won't be able to help you with this.
>>10322878Suru takes ages to ship stuff sometimes. Some of my orders have taken at least a week.
>>10322954>>10322943Thanks!I waited a bit and the item finally arrived.
>>10320319oh my god i can't believe my napoleon bag showed up here lmao. it's received upgrades since that pic!
>>10325809>>10325811I think anon also wanted them to be good.
>>10326489Ooooohhhhhh man hold on these are fantastic
>>10326489Window looks pretty small but these are really cute, granted I feel like it might be better for a normie bag.
Posted this literally everywhere else so why not here.
>>10326499OH shit I love your bag, it make me chuckle every time I see the picture in my documents
>>10298977Bought the black moon one about a year ago to use as an everyday purse and I'd say it's well worth the money. I do agree, putting a picture on the insert is kind of silly bit the bag itself is real nice quality and has held up nicely after a full year of heavy use. If you don't mind spending a little more on a bag I definitely recommend it
>>10326974Pic related, stuff i carry with me normally (plus my phone) and there's still room for a pair of headphones or my small Android tablet I use for work
>>10286082Link for this??
>>10326974>>10326976Still not worth the money.
>>10326918it must be the most ita of all itabags cause i literally paid hundreds of dollars specifically to make pins to put in there lmaoo
>>10326798Your bags always make me so happy every time I look at them! Especially your Yume nikki ones since JRPGs are some of my favorite games!
>>10326979I didn't even know I made that post, been awhile I guess. But I didn't remember where I got it so I did some redigging though using the google link that's on each post. (the "google yandex iqdb wait" section)https://www.animate-onlineshop.jp/products/detail.php?product_id=1682200https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%B3%E3%82%A2%E3%83%87-Coade-CONC-CO120-%E7%97%9B%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%96%E3%83%9D%E3%83%BC%E3%83%81%E3%83%AF%E3%82%A4%E3%83%89-%E3%82%B3%E3%82%B3%E3%82%A2%E3%83%96%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A6%E3%83%B3/dp/B07WDJF6QG
>>10327150Thanks anon! Appreciate it!
>>10326499This is a thing of beauty, anon.
>>10327148Thank you! I want to get into collecting some other game’s merch like Ib and Ao Oni but there’s barely anything. I wish they all got more love.
>>10327515I love the yume nikki bag! I think if I saw an ao oni bag in public I'd faint lol. I don't know about Ib, but ao oni had some keychains with the anime release and a couple of vinyl figures that might be good in a bag if you could figure out how to display them. Best of luck with your next bag!
>>10326534Or at least have some effort put into them. Meme bags like >>10326499 and the Dr. Pepper one are fun because there’s planning and effort put into the merch and design.
Where’s the best place to sell your old merch? I want to unload some utapri stuff but I’ve never sold online before (outside Lolita)
>>10330330The Facebook sales group is good. You’ll find other sales groups specific to idols or idol series on fb too
>>10327515>>10327640Ib had these released as well as some trading figures, but I think it's mostly fanmerch for general merch for Ib
Valentine's day is coming up, any anons planning on doing anything? I'm gonna make cake pops as something different from my usual cake and do a small display with them and my merch
>>10330927Probably the same thing I do every year; a few pieces of my favorite merch and some handbaked goods for some time on the beach. Not really feeling the wine so maybe some coffee instead this year and macarons/dipped strawberries.
Got this letter with an acrylic figure I bought from BOOTH and I’m a little intimated.
>>10331633Reminds me of how doujin artists ask you to burn or dispose of rather than resell their work
>>10331633Kinda makes me wonder why they bothered selling it in the first place, especially since they don't want people to take photos of it or give to it other people....
>>10331633I think there's a core to these rules that actually is a good point but they've just broadened it so far it looks absurd. I'm thinking of the dumb fans who buy fan goods of like two guys from a boy band kissing and then trying to get them to sign it at an event or give it to them as gift. Asking fans who buy the fan merch to keep it on the DL isn't absurd, but trying to control what they do with it to this extent is a real overreach. Once someone gives you money for the thing you don't get a lot of say what they do with that physical thing.
>>10331633Soooo can we see pics of what you bought?
>>10331705It was definitely run through a translator so likely this is the Asian cultural view on fanmade goods. But yeah Western audiences don't really adhere to that..
>>10331862> Asian cultural view on fanmade goodsSeconding this, it's basically correct. Distribution for fanmade stuff is run super differently in Asia
>>10331657I fully understand why doujin artists request this, but it still kills me to throw away goods. I have a pile of doujin goods in my house that were gifted to me that I have no idea what to do with because I don't collect or display doujin goods, but I haven't been able to bring myself to throw them away.
>>10331633This could also be about copyright, doujin goods are in a legal grey area and some artists might be worried about being shut down, which would explain the “don’t show at official events” line. it would be like wearing a print replica to a brand tea party.
Why do people insist on kickstarting itabag bases of nintendo IPs? that shit is begging to be taken down by nintendo.
>>10334224Because they don't care/are fucking braindead.
>>10330927Do you have more pictures like this one?
>>10334403of Kuroko and cake?
>>10334775i think she means like waifu/husbando birthday setups.
>>10334775>>10334815Would you like to see small shrines, or the over flowing type?
>>10334224In general there's no point in getting involved in nintendo IPs whether it's itabags, fanmerch or fangames since they're gonna shut it down.
>>10334224The "Puppy Ita Bag" got taken down lamo
Late but >joining the discord just to get market feedback Tacky as fuck, especially when you've got no interest in the hobby itself. >>10335842They still posted on Instagram about it to sell some, seriously when will these idiots learn?
>>10334825You say that but those Switch console itabags made it to production and distribution. So I'm thinking no one's actually reporting the kickstarters for the copyright infringement.
>>10336041Just guessing but they probably give more of a shit about bootlegs of characters than of someone copying their console design. I wonder how copyright of the layout of a console even works and whether they bothered to copyright that IP in the US.
>>10336041nintendo took down that kickstarter as well, anon.
I've always wanted to make a bag with mainly badges, but they kinda move around a lot whenever I put stuff inside. Still waiting for some rosettes to go on top left and right.
New bag. I like this sort of traditional look that they’ve been going for lately.
Do people put clear folders in their bags? I'd like suggestions for how to display my folders, I'm coming across larger bags like >>10338846 and >>10339528 where the orientation is landscape rather than portrait.Or do people put their clear folders elsewhere and only badges into their itabags?
>>10331633"X Do not use"You can purchase it but you must immediately tuck it away, never to see the light of day ever again
I got one of these utapri bags but now that I have it, I realize I have no idea how I could make a good looking insert and everyone seems to pin their shit straight into them. Aside form making an entire new bag to cover my bag, or sucking up and pinning things to it, does anyone have any ideas/inspo?
Kickstarter coming soon
>>10343417If people are manufacturing from scratch they could make any kind of bag they want. Why are they all so fucking boring??
>>10343417this doesn't even seem like a good idea. the windows are all different sizes so what's the point? you just have to rearrange everything anyway when switching from heart to star.>>10343625cheap.
>>10343417desu at least it isn't a super specific shape like a fox or a cathedral or whatever. I like more generic shapes so it can be used for a wide range of different characters. The swappable window is a good idea in theory. I'd have to see a prototype first to be convinced of it. Yeah you'd have to rearrange, but that's not a big deal to me. It's just more options.
>>10343727Just saying I'm still waiting for more unisex style bags and artists keep releasing femme bags with heart windows and dangle charms all over them.
>>10343735What kind of unisex style bags? It doesn't help that symbols like hearts are pretty universal
>>10342761Kind of confused why you'd want to make an insert for this bag? You can remove the main part and play around with displays before placing it back in, there's no real benefit to an insert in this case
>>10343830My dream bag would be canvas messenger bag or backpack with a big window that's not a gimmicky shape in some neutral or earthy colors, like warm grey or olive. I know these bags are designed with anime properties in mind so the bright colors and pastels make sense, but they don't work for me and the type of pins I like to collect. I also hate the pleathers/vinyls and silky shiny materials that most are made of, personally speaking.
>>10343881Bluerobotto literally has both those styles in both those color options though.
>>10343897I was about to disagree because I've been considering theirs for awhile but the colors weren't right, but checking their site I see they have a moss green now. Pic related is the kind of colors I was referring to. I still maintain that most of their palette is too bright, but I admit you're right that they're close. I'd like something that looks a bit less like a school backpack, personally.
>>10343881Just stick your pins to a regular messenger bag then.
>>10343915Don't want them to fall off, bud. Locking backs aren't fool proof.
>>10343917Seems like it's gonna be your only option since in the years this hobby has existed no one has managed to make a bag you like.
>>10342761You can make a cover for the main bag and pin your stuff to that.
>>10343978I mean you can kick back and criticize me for whining about how the hobby doesn't cater or to me or we could talk about why every new bag that comes up on kickstarter looks like this >>10343417Other than what>>10343628 said of course.Am I really the only one bored by the generic shapes and gadgets? That was really my only point, >>10343830 was all that got me started on the type of bag I want.
>>10344003Why would you even care about what's released on Kickstarter? It's just some people in the west trying to hop on the itabag trend and 99% of the people who buy them are just pinbaggers anyway, which is why the designs are so samey. There are hundreds if not thousands of bags that aren't "femme." Tote bags aren't feminine, backpacks aren't feminine, and those are the two main styles of bag used for this. You can easily avoid the bright pink sparkly fuzzy things if that isn't your style.
>>10344003Most people aren’t into the things you desire, anon. Doesn’t help that most people aren’t aware and on top of things enough that they can’t (for whatever reason) get access to already existing bags. I personally like the idea of more simple shapes and don’t find them boring. Though I would say I’d like some more muted colors or less blatant feminine bags but I think there has to be the right person to make them.As you may know, Kickstarter/crowd-raising websites is like one of several ways for the average person to find and get access to bags, besides the typical amazon-convention/ItabagPalace websites. You already know this but you’re going to see a lot of super feminine kawaii bags, that’s what the hobby attracts, those kind of people.
>>10344003>Am I really the only one bored by the generic shapes and gadgets?Yes. Most people care about what goes into the bag, not the bag itself. As long as it's the right color and size, and of good quality, it's fine for me.
>>10344003Unfortunately, most of the international shipping sites don’t have too many bags like that. I went to japan recently and a lot of stores had bags I’ve never seen online before, included a plain canvas tote in subdued colors (It’s on some store in Takeshita dori). Your best choice might be to get a clear cover tote bag similar to >>10342761 and then put a bag you like in it, or commission someone
>>10343869I don't want to punch it full of holes>>10343981I guess that's the only reasonable choice aside from pinning things straight to it. Thanks anon, I might do a transparent cover and see how that works
I don’t know if it’s just me but I can’t find the Salus website anymore?
>>10342761Friend used a semi-clear vinyl sheet with holes cut out for the straps.
>>10331633This is so autistic. Call me a commie, but I wish every series benefitted from a creator like ZUN. The Touhou doujin scene is a huge boon to society in my opinion.
>>10345632Ah, I see it, that looks pretty clean too. I'll give this a try instead of making a full bag-shaped cover, thanks!
>>10346528A plain clearfile also works if you can find some.
>>10345287Salus stopped carrying base bags a while ago so I wouldn’t bother searching for them
You guys have any experience with buyee? I want to buy a couple of character lots off of mercari, and they’re both from the same seller, but I don’t see any way to consolidate the two into the same order through buyee so I’m assuming I have to pay separate fees for each of them, right?
>>10354804I've used buyee. What do you mean by consolidate? Buyee lets you consolidate anything when it's arrived to their facility, but if you're talking about before you order, you may want to message them first because sometimes sellers straight up refuse to package them together
>>10354962Yeah I meant before it arrived to their warehouse, but it’s not a problem now because the other listing I was looking at sold an item out of it but kept the same price so I wasn’t interested in it anymore. I’m pissed at myself though because I forgot to use my mercari coupon. Oh well. I’ve been gathering Laala goods for a while but never really took the leap to make a bag for her, but I can feel myself getting closer to it.
>>10326798God, I'm obsessed with this bag. Great job, anon. Dumb question, but is this all official merch?
>>10355799holy fucking shit, this isn't even into the warehouse yet and I'm already buying another keychain I never thought I'd get. I'm spending so much fucking money on this character, is this what dying feels like? At least I'll get to use my mercari coupon now
>>10354804You mean their insurance fees? I've never bothered paying for those and have never had any issues with my orders. It saves me a lot of money too. The only thing you'll find is they are garbage at packaging as they don't repack anything. Pic attached is just one of the boxes inside of the massive box I had from them.
>>10356829I had a poster arrive from them the other day and it was pretty bad. It was the poster box itself just wrapped in a layer of newspaper. It fucked up the poster inside quite a bit. I’ll take note of that, don’t pay for insurance, but do pay for extra packaging.
>>10356881Oh that is a shame anon! Luckily I just had those acrylics and other small items like plushies so I didn't have to worry about anything being damaged. Shelling out for extra packaging would be a good idea for more fragile items.
Tumblr and Twitter always throwing curveballs, huh?
>>10358848wtf is this garbage?for the love of god can we stop buying this shitty pearler bead crap?
>>10355799A lot of listings like this are actually just for one item, and you pick which one you want out of the bunch. That's probably why one thing was sold.
>>10358848are those the cats from catscratch? jesus
>>10358912Yeah, it is. I feel kinda bad picking on obviously harmless weirdos who are just into weird stuff, but I had to share that shit.
Thought on stadium-compliant ita-bags (clear)? I really want to bring an itabag to a concert I'm going to (nevermind the fact it's probably getting postponed or cancelled) but the bag as to be clear. I'm thinking maybe a ton of keychains? I don't know how I feel about poking pins through pvc.
>>10359134> Those handles> The acrylics reaching out to the flower heart above the bagThe cutest touches I've seen that's really nice
>>10359133t b h I find those weirdos who are hyper fixated on really random/obsure shows and characters really fascinating. So thank u for sharing
>>10362121>those weirdos who are hyper fixated on really random/obsure shows and charactersautists. they're called autists
To those of you still hanging on, how goes it?The cancelations of multiple cons kinda messed with the community aspect but just remember to use this time to fix things up in your bags you thought you were done with.>Just won a big lot of straps for my main bag>My next con still uncancelled is in September so no rush for pandemic shipping>Don't forget to wash your hands.jpg
>>10364671I ordered the white ver of this bag to do another husbando bag; link because image posting is borked for me atm: https://files.catbox.moe/j0b41j.jpeg I also backed for this bag recently and i have no expectations because >kiclstarter But at the least it'll be a good project next to cleaning up my old bags. https://files.catbox.moe/xlqlni.pngI'm looking at bases for another character since I finished a small one for him a while back but hace a surplus of merch I need to do display; my next con isn't until sept either assuming the situation improves before then.
>>10364671I like having my bags hanged up for decoration so I'm not too sad about not being able to go anywhere with them. Though I got a new bag to replace my husbando bag thats much more fitting for his character so now I have pic related in white lying around, I think I wanna base it on Deresute's 4th anniversary outfit (TRUE COLORS) but don't have much Idolmaster merch to put in. Doesn't help now with the timing I can't even order shit.
>>10362118Maybe use a shaped hole punch to apply some cardstock backing to each puncture spot? At least it can look a lil cuter.
>>10358891ooof I hope that's not the case with what I got. I'll find out when it gets here. Anybody else been experiencing shipping delays? It's been over a week and my package hasn't moved at all

For those of you with multiple bags for multiple characters/ships/fandoms/etc. how do you determine when you're going to make a bag for a new thing? When is it "worth it" aka how do you know you're not just dumping money on merch for a fotm character that you won't love nearly as much in the future?
>>10366736When you still love them 3+ months later. It's also better to look at your own track record. Do you cycle through large fandoms often? If so, red flag.
Even though US is not on the Covid shipping blacklist, my treasure japan request got immediately canceled just because. Made the mistake of going with White rabbit express next and so far they’ve ignored my request that was submitted 6am Friday japan time and they’re closed on weekends too. Any proxies I should be using instead?
>>10371231I just ordered a bunch of stuff and got my shipping notif from FromJapan. They’re my go-to proxy.
>>10366846Super late response: I cycle through large fandom often which is why I'm hesitant to start a new project (I'm a big spender once I start on a bag because I feel like I have to "perfect" it). I enjoy all the bags I've made but I know I don't love all of them equally which is why I've taken a step back and decided to slow down
>>10286082its so nice to see anything from trinity tempo
So Disney has officially made its own itabag base. I wondered how long it would take considering I've seen a ton of itabags being worn to Disney World.https://www.shopdisney.com/mickey-mouse-pin-trading-display-backpack-400918814186.html
>>10371231I use Neokyo and never had any problems.
>>10371828Oh... that's uh, an unfortunately small window. I'm not surprised to see them do something official since I've even seen knockoff heart ones from F21, but come on, at least make the window more usable. Half their luxury/exclusive big pins probably won't even fit in the ears
>>10371876From the looks of it, you can fit maybe 3-5 depending on the size but inside they've got panels to put more merch.
>buyee emails me back>no eta on when they’ll get my package sent back to them because millions of packages are stuck>just want my fucking keychainsI understand the situation but goddamn it sucks. I ordered a bunch of merch including a rare keychain I never thought I’d get to order, man I was so excited about it. Now I feel like there’s a high chance the package will get lost in transit and I won’t ever get it.
>>10366736I stay in fandoms for a really long time but if you don't, don't buy merch just to start a bag, only start one once you have naturally built up a lot of merch.
>>10371876Could work for a minimalism bag.I'd stick 3 Kingdom Hearts buttons in it and call it a day.
>>10364671I'd been pretty out of the hobby lately, still took my bags to cons but I wasn't actively working on anything, but at the end of last year I got my very first job (disposable income, yay!) and fell headfirst into a new series that is absolutely shitting out merch. So now I've got 3+ bags planned and tons of merch sitting at my proxy's warehouse waiting for things to blow over. All my planned cons are cancelled until at least August, but hey, more time for me to get merch and work on the bags done I guess?
>>10364671>Seller finally cancels my order>Says they can't find the lot but I'm sure they saw I was from burgerland and didn't want any trouble with shipping>Mfw I lost out on a 25 strap lot all of my husbando and 10 of those straps I can't find for less that 70 bucks anywhere else. I'm the full mad.Someone cough on me and end me.
>>10371828It's not the worst thing I've ever seen, but I wish they made the window a lot bigger.
>>10380694i think it's supposed to be a normie bag more than a real itabag.
>>10380632That really sucks anon, sorry that it happened. Was it on ebay or something where they knew where you were located?
>win auction of series-specific box full of merch>get it shipped EMS for $$$>realize I got it sent out 2 days before they shut down EMS>still worried I'll see the 'return to sender' message of death
>>10383107RIP in pieces. I've had shipments returned, hope it turns out well for you
Dumb question, but how do you safely attach an acrylic stand to an itabag? I originally thought about using some kind of tape, but I'm scared it'd remove the image along with it if I ever wanted to move it. I checked the Itabag FAQ and googling and couldn't really find any answers.
>>10391221a lot of people use fishing wire to my knowledge?its clear and its really strong.
>>10315706>>10316008You both are so precious. bucci is best mom
> looking for a new base bag that isn't a tote> every single KS one is clearly designed for pins because they're either super specific or have tiny ass windowsI guess I will stay with the same boring backpack one as always.
Im making an azumanga itabag and I have 16 little keychains to attach the the bag.Aside from adding more chains, is there an easier way to attach more keychains so I can have a more even spread?I also have 13 pins from the series on the bag as well.
>>10394990take the chains out and attach using safety pins. make sure the bulky bit of the pin is in the back and not on display.
>>10395044Thanks! I just bought a lot more things to add to it.I think this is going to be a nice, fat, proper itabag.
Making my first itabags over quarantine, one of them is Ruby from Love Live but the other two are characters from a very popular franchise but lack proper keychains. Buttons I’m all set with because I have a friend who makes em in her room, but does anyone know where I can get proper acrylic keychains that’s not Zap? They’re very expensive and I’m not sure what their policy on using official art is.
>>10398870Anon, I'd rank self made stuff with official art even lower than fan merch, same category as bootlegs because that's basically what they are. I'd recommend rather commission artists you like for art or buy existing fanmerch. Commissions are easy way to get them to match the merch you already have.
>>10398894Very good point. This franchise lacks a good fan art community (probably due to its target demographic) but commissions are probably the way to go. Appreciate the response!
>>10398932Seconding commisions, especially rn in quarantine people are having discounts and some are attending "virtual cons" were you can get commisions for cheap.
>>10391523> super specific or tiny windowsAlso my current problem. I don’t mind the more specific bags (like those animal crossing bags a while back) if they’re based on an actual fandom that will partake, but 99% of the time it’s not something I’m interested in.
>>10402638who the fuck would want this?
I want to start an idol itabag, any advice on building one when merch is both awkward to buy in bulk and is expensive (badges are only sold at Asian concerts, in a blind bag, with the purchase limit of 1-3)? The price of the average badge is ¥2,000-3,000 each, so I can't really do my initial idea of having the whole thing being repeating badges. I'm thinking of bulking out the spaces with photocards, as they're easy to buy and I already have many.I could just use unofficial merch/handmade merch, but I feel like that's cheating
>>10299181I too use a board. I even have boards for my odds and ends keychains. It’s a bit messy but it will do for now
>>10362121I’m guilty of that! The show I like has little western fandom but thankfully it’s popular in Japan. I can usually never find anything at local events but Japanese collectors sell their collections often in lots so I just buy those. Thankfully since not many people are into the show I usually always end up winning auctions.
Anyone else want to do a bunch of bags now that we’re home all the time? Wish these threads weren’t dead
>>10410601Most people had to slow down because no one was shipping anything
>>10410606Yeah definitely. Hopefully now that many places are shipping things again things will get better.
>>10410601I've spent my time re-organizing all of my bags and hunting for Persona 4 merch, god damn I hope merch becomes easier to find if the game is ported to Steam.
>>10402718 hey anon! I made a hobi itabag using exclusively official pins and merch, and what i did was look up on mercari using バッジ セット to find lots to buy rather than individuals. i also used magnets which were cheaper than the can badges, i attached pin backs to them with a bit of hot glue to prevent shifting around since hot glue comes off damage free with alcohol if i need to take them off. the sk telecom collab pins are also huge if you need to cover up some space. My friend who made one for kook couldnt afford filling the entire thing with pins at all since his go for at least 3k yen to 5k for blind bag acrylics, so she got one of those double pocket backpacks and put 1 of each pin on top and filled the bottom half with cooky plushies, so you could consider adding rj toys in aswell. pic related is my display rn if you want some inspo, i'm going to replace the one fansite merch pin with a dupe of the hyyh one soon so disregard that lol
>>10402718sorry for doubleposting - if you want to do photocards you could use one as a centerpiece with a sleeve decorated with gems ribbons or whatever, and make rosettes for the biggest badges you get to fill up more space?
>>10412260NGL, this is probably one of the best pin bags I've seen, the window is so open and there's no design or sparkles to cover the view!
>>10412260It looks like a huge ass grin as the insert.
>>10410601Seconding the shipping issue. I want to buy a few things from Y!A bur have been holding off based off the only real option being DHL.
>>10412340Is DHL good? I hear mixed things but with the price it is I just hold back anyway. >Buy 40 dollars worth of things>DHL shipping is 200
>>10297240anyone have the link for the bag that looked like a frillier version of this? it was available in pink and red and worn by a lot of lolitas.
>>10412607DHL is a week in shipping time, I've never had anything held in customs from them, they have their own planes and shit so they don't gaf about covid shipping delays rn.Its the best option if you don't wanna wait but the most expensive fore a reason.
>>10412765The bag you're looking for is by Diamond Honey (Pictured)Best of luck to you. Try Lolita centric sellers maybe? It isn't on their Taobao, last I checked
Just saw an ad for this on Facebook. The Kickstarter will be over in less than 2 days, but opinions? These look cute as drawings but will probably look like oversized kids' clothes (in a tacky way) once they're physical products.
Does anyone know if there's a gold itabag backpack with a heart window anywhere out there? I've seen one that's a pixelated heart but would prefer just a normal one (and preferably not holographic but I'd take what I can get).
>>10412765DaniLambDesigns has this very similar one on Etsy if you can't find the original, but the colors are pink and black, no red.
>>10413940Example photos look good so far, and though some of the designs themselves are a little iffy I hope this takes off, it looks fun.
Hey guys. I'm collecting merch for my first bag atm. Planning on buying one of the WEGO heart window bags, but am starting to get nervous it won't be enough room to display my full collection. I really want the heart window because it's going to be an OTP bag. Any suggestions on larger heart bags out there? Preferably backpacks.
>>10416344(Correct me if wrong) Unless you want to buy second hand, WEGO doesn't sell the heart window bags. There aren't really any... "larger heart bags [backpacks]" unless you count the Berry Q bags (pictured) which can be converted into shoulder, backpack, hand bag. Would you be open to other bag types? Or is your heart set on the heart window?
>>10416408Yeah, I just plan to buy secondhand. Found plenty on Japanese sites already. I have seen the Berry Q ones but idk, something about them I just don't like. It's odd because I like the star one. but something about the heart ones just looks... off to me. I dunno, if anyone has example pics so I could get a better idea of what they look like filled, maybe I'd change my mind?Would definitely prefer a heart window but might be open to other bag types if I could find something I really like. Mainly, I just want something that looks good for a ship bag.
>>10413940>>10416080Feel bad that I missed this. The jacket designs look cute but I wish that they didn't use the lace around the heart (or at least had better lace). If any gulls bought it I'd love to see a review when it comes out!
Gulls... I'm so happy. Just bought an absolutely amazing lot for cheap secondhand including an item I've been looking for. May everyone else get lucky secondhand!
https://mobile.twitter.com/ohayouclothing/status/1274028724980154368They remind me of the other itabag that I think it was from Zakkamart, but I think it’ll be a neat unisex bag.
>>10417654Actually, maybe not that similar but I’m glad theres potential to have more bags that are vaguely like it.
>>10417659I'd rather a white one than beige/green, I don't know many anime characters with beige as their main color
>>10413940The Animal Crossing one is NOT true to colors. I saw her post it on her Facebook page. I’m worried the other will be like that. She didn’t seem to think it was big deal the colors weren’t true to picture so I’m iffy.
>>10412201This is really cute for a kpop bag
