Old thread: >>10247890

This thread is for stupid questions about lolita or jfashion.
For cosplay related questions, please use this thread: >>10255573
>>
Gonna start off with a question regarding OPs. I "often"* see people wearing OPs eventhough their shoulder width is visibly much wider than the intended shoulder measurement of the dress they're wearing.

Now I'm wondering, if the dress had very forgiving bust and waist measurements, but a comparatively narrow shoulder area, would it still be comfortable to wear the dress eventhough I'm like 3-5cm over the max shoulder width? Wouldn't it restrict arm movement or are certain OPs constructed in a certain way to accomodate to this kind of flexibility?

*"often" because I feel it only concerns certain dresses or cuts, not all kinds of OP across the board.
>>
>>10256839
Puff sleeve OPs with shirring in them are pretty forgiving. if they don’t stretch they restrict arm movement though. Long sleeves are usually more restrictive unless the sleeves are baggy.
>>
>>10256839
It is supposed to be restrictive so that you don't flail your arms around like a spaz. Its trying to help you be more elegant
>>
How do I shop through fril? Do you have a favorite SS? I used to use Japonica when I actively shopped on mercari.
>>
What kind of cotton do older baby printed dresses use? I've noticed a couple that I own have an interesting texture that I really like. If someone was doing custom printed fabric for handmade what type of cotton would it be? Twill? The tags all just say the main fabric is 100% cotton with some of the trim being part polyester.
>>
>>10256966
Can you not give such stupid answers in this thread? People might believe you
>>
Moved to Japan for uni. How do I use Fril or y!auctions in japan? Mercari jp doesn’t accept any American cards and classmates told me I need a career in Japan to apply for a Japanese bank account and debit card
>>
>>10257246
I think mercari has konbini pay
>>
>>10257246

Some sites let you pay with linked cards through Amazon JP (Wunderwelt does but idk about the others) and you can make a Japanese Amazon account with foreign cards.

Never tried using the auction sites while I was there though but fingers crossed for you anon. You're going to save so much on shipping and customs.
>>
I asked about Lolita winter coats last thread and got some really helpful answers, what about Lolita boots? I feel classic/gothic are easy for winter footwear but I lean towards sweet and tea parties obviously don't work in the snow. What's acceptable for boots, what's not?
>>
What political leanings does the average lolita have? I know that some take it very seriously as a lifestyle, surely they have an ideological background to match.

>>10257340
Good question
>>
>>10257340
Seconding this with the slight extension of where to get decent sweet winter boots in custom size.
>>
>>10257246
You don't need a career! A lot of my friends at uni in Japan applied for bank accounts. You will need a hanko (seal stamp with your name in kanji/katakana) and a decent grip of Japanese or a friend, and it will take a very complicated bank meeting, but you can get a bank account and card!
>>
>>10256967
I use Zenmarket, mostly because it's cheap. I've been happy with their service too.
Zenmarket is pretty slow at buying items tho (might take several days or up to a week to buy an item), if you want to buy something that you suspect others might be after too, then use a faster service. When I see something that has previously sold out quickly I use FromJapan since they are super fast. If the item has been sitting in fril/mercari for several days or longer I know I can safely use Zenmarket.
>>
>>10257792
Does Zenmarket work with Fril again? They stopped a couple years ago and I stopped using them since then.
>>
does any embroidery machine let you add embroidery patterns?

I'm trying to put research into buying an embroidery machine because I want to start sewing patches and things onto accessories and handmaid items but there are so many options and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I tried googling that question and it gives me how tos and I dont want to walnut and assume they all do it and then get the ONE model that wont let you add.
>>
>>10257362
>a decent grip of Japanese or a friend, and it will take a very complicated bank meeting, but you can get a bank account and card!
i do have a great japanese friend here but she doesnt even have a bank account. she just gets paid in cash for jobs and carries the money for bills.
>>
>>10258085
Not every one but many nicer and pricier ones allow you to upload patterns with a USB. But the embroidery design software is expensive AF sometimes.

This has probably been asked many times before, but I could only find responses from almost 10 years ago through google. How long does it usually take for Bodyline to ship through EMS?

I was thinking of ordering something for a con in early November, but if It's not going to arrive until like January I'll forget about it.
>>
Do Chinese lolitas have anything like Lacemarket or ClosetChild for secondhand sales? I noticed that the western and japanese markets are a bit thin when it comes to more recent releases and I'm aware that the chinese are buying up everything new.
>>
>>10257796
Yeah, it does. I've been using them for a while now.

Will a steel boned corset get me a few more inches off my waist?
>Inb4 lose weight
Working on that, I'm pretty small already
>>
>>10258316
>Inches
I meant centimeters, but the freedom units invaded by brain
>>
Where to get some good long bloomers? I like the ones from MLT but they cost a fortune in shipping.
>>
>>10258318
Meta, but that's probably even more expensive lol.
>>
>>10258316
Depends on how squishy your torso is. If you know it’s very much muscle and bones you won’t get much of a reduction without a ton of work
>>
>>10258316
Depends on your squish. I can corset down by 6" because I squish, but the thickness of the corset and lacing means that the external measurement is only really 4" smaller than my natural waist.
>>
>>10258318
Maxicimam!
>>
Sorry to repeat myself, but does anyone know what kind of cotton do older baby printed dresses use? I've noticed a couple of them have an interesting/prominent texture. If I wanted to order custom printed fabric with original designs, what type of cotton would it be? I am not sure what kind of materials gives this effect. The tags all only say the main fabric is 100% cotton with some of the trim being part cotton and polyester.
>>
>>10257246
You can pay for pretty much anything via conbini pay, but you’ll need to have a Japanese phone number to verify. If you’re using a data-only SIM, you won’t be able to select conbini pay.
You can definitely get a bank account with a student visa btw (I think JP Post is most popular), but you’ll only get a cash card, no credit or debit card.

how to talk to people in my comm when most are older than me. i'm worried i won't connect with them im so scared
>>
>>10258705
How young and old are we talking here? Start off with complementing their coords and specific items. Ask questions about them. Keep it mostly lolita focused at first. If you're in high school or just graduated this year try not to mention it too much. If you're near or past 30 you feel awkward talking too much to someone who just came out of high school and is basically a kid in comparison. If the age thing comes up and starts to get awkward or silent go to talking about lolita back in the day.

The good thing about lolita is it kind of merges everyone's age from the glance. When I am at meetups I honestly cant tell how old people are until someone start acting or talking too immaturely. Sometimes I have met 18 year olds who I would have thought are in their early 20s and 30 year olds who look 20. At the end of the day we have something in common and it all kinda works out.
>>
>>10257356
Personally I'm a bit on both sides depending on the issue, but generally more to the right. I dont really see politics get brought up too much anyways.

I'm a leftist (but not an american leftist). I don't think there's a shared leaning between us but a lot of lolitas are socially left leaning and advocate for social justice and whatnot, sometimes to an obnoxious degree
>>
>>10258726
Depends, have you already tried contacting the seller?
>>
>>10257356
Lolitas from my experience seem to be left-leaning, but I think those who are right-wing tend to be more quiet about it because they're more likely to get judged for it.

not that anon, but when I go to Maxicimam brand on CDJapan it shows me 0 products, even though I'm certain I've seen products there earlier this year. I can still see Lumiebre items in stock, so the issue is only with Maxicimam brand.

Right wingers always say this in my country too but most people are right-wing and our government has been right wing for ages lol they just have a victim complex or something. Has anyone here happened to negotiate the price using Japonica? I need help with this issue. They sent me some long instruction on making an offer that I don’t understand.
>>
>>10259195
They say they are not able to make the best offer if it is different from market price and also they may change my best offer price in their judgment. Does it mean they may put some higher price without my consent if I try to cheap out too drastically?

>>10257356
Left-wing to the point where I could probably reasonably be considered a communist but I don't ever talk about it with people I don't know well

How good quality is anna house?
>>
>>10258286
I asked them 2 weeks ago and they said they don't
>>
>>10259238
I owned a skirt from them 10 years ago and was pleased with it. It was pretty good quality. I've never really heard anybody say anything bad about anna house, but then again I haven't heard any thing about them in years.
>>
>>10259229
I just used From Japan and it went through fine and was able to send payment.
>>
>>10259238
I have a skirt from Anna House. I'd say it's pretty nice, one or two steps up from nice Bodyline but it's no brand. The lace is cotton and pretty. It has grosgrain ribbons, but they don't look cheap. I had to replace the elastic in the waistband (bought secondhand, couldn't tell if elastic was stretched to all hell or the skirt was just for a hambeast, but it fits nicely now). I'd recommend it, anon!
>>
How the fuck do I wear a beret without it looking like a goddamn chef's hat or a pancake laying flat on my head?
>>
>>10258905
You can't
Even when I wear black and white coords without an apron, people ask of it's a maid outfit
>>
>>10256834
Do women actually have concious thought or do they just respond to stimulus like an amoeba?
>>
>>10259669
Use a thin towel to stuff it and then lay it flat, it will not be perked up like a chefs hat nor will it be a flat pancake. But in general, everyone who has ever worn a beret struggles, it’s either too far down on the head (chef) or falling the fuck off (pancake). Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying

How to grieve on missed items more easily?
>>
>>10260229
It depends on the item but it's helpful to realise that it might not necessarily have looked good on you, no matter how much you wanted it and liked the design itself. I had to sell a bunch of dream dresses which obviously I had been pining after because they just did not look good worn on me. Not to mention more minor stuff.
>>
>>10260065
Get a book for beginners, take a sewing class, or watch Youtube tutorials. Start with something easy and use cheap materials in the beginning, you can get second-hand bedsheets at goodwill
>>
What's it called when you basically wear frills and dresses like lolitas do but without a petticoat? I know it's not lolita already so don't sperg.
>>10223121
I'd be okay with wearing stuff like this daily but the petticoat is just tiresome and I'm not even complaining about wigs here. I just need to google it so I can see more images of the look I want. Providing me the tags would do more than plenty.
>>
>>10260307
It is called otome-kei. Or otome for short.
>>
>>10256834

Does anyone have any good non-taobao (resellers are okay though, just not in the mood to deal with shopping service atm) places to get pink or white lolita type boots? I want ones with more of the frills and bows and higher knee length but low to no heel and platform (like heel height no higher than tea parties)

For some reason Bodyline is always out of stock and all the secondhand ones I see are always super high heeled. I'm short but have a short torso in proportion to leg and heels make me look apple shaped and imbalanced which is why I am searching for low heel.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
>>
>>10260352
Thanks bae you saved my life and I'm not a weeb
>>
>>10260395
Thanks for the tip! As long as they are not too much taller than tea parties (0.5-maybe 1.5 or 2 inches max, I'd be okay.
>>
>>10260307
It's not called otome kei, that's a dead style partly made up by Western lolitas. Maybe >>10260352 means casual lolita, which some people also call otome kei for some reason.
Nobody regularly posts pictures of lolita main-pieces worn without petticoat, though you sometimes see it irl in Japan and China. So what you want is going to be very hard to find online. Misako tried to make "soft lolita" a thing but it didn't become popular.
Anyway one important thing to learn when you get into jfashion, is that a lot of informative blogs spread wrong information because they don't understand Japanese. Otome kei is a good example of that.
>>
Forgot to mention Alice deco ala mode. Maybe you should check out daily-ala-mode.livejournal.com if the images still work
>>10260430
>>
>>10260430
Regardless, searching for "otome" will most likely get that anon what they want.
>>
>>10260433
The image she's referring to is classic with only solid pieces. What Westerners call otome kei is mostly worn with a petticoat and just has more colours and less lace than regular sweet.
>>
Correction, the middle looks like it's floral but my poor Internet is too slow to bother loading the whole image
>>10260437
>>
>>10260436
You're right, though even if it's a vague nonterm they'll probably like what comes up for "otome" if they go for the plain classic look.
Also fuck me for leaving my email in.

To get or not to get? I'm super on the fence about these. >>
>>10260670
Yes? Maybe for meets and social media don't wear the same coord over and over without breaking it up, but nothing should stop you from rewearing good coords if you like them. Anyone who wears lolita in their daily life is going to repeat things eventually, just like with any other clothes.

why do you need a wig for lolita? isnt it supposed to be a fashion not a costume?
>>
>>10261678
Some people like matching wigs to their coord, some have thin/hard to style hair, some maybe have haircuts/hair colours that may clash with a coord, some just want a different look, etc

You don't, who told you you did? Wigs are a more recent trend but they were worn much less before the past few years.

There has been a shift in the fashion to lolita worn for photoshoots instead of as a daily fashion which is one reason why wigs are booming. Not a fan myself.

Any lolitas have healthy weight loss tips? Freshman 15 hit me hard and I'm pushing 150 and now my AP is tight on me. I'm trying to cut carbs and go to the gym but with type 1 diabetes it's hard to keep my sugar up while dieting and exercising and I end up drinking sugary juices or consuming other highly caloric fast acting carbs.

Suggestions for shedding a bit of weight/getting some tone on my muscles and still keeping my sugar up? There's a really nice gym/aquatic center on campus so that helps.
>>
>>10262135
Count calories using MyFitnessPal or a similar app if it doesn't trigger you. That way you can still sip juice while knowing you haven't had too much juice for the day. Lift weights to avoid skinny-fatness. You can lift dumbbells at home to a YouTube video if you don't like the idea of going to the gym. Obviously if you become a full-on athlete, you might have a hard time fitting muscular arms into tiny jp short-sleeve openings, but that's not something to worry about as a beginner. Fat takes up 4x the space of muscle, so on a beginner the muscles won't be to blame for fit issues.
>>
>>10262135
Eat less total calories, don't bolus for however many carbs you usually eat while exercising in your meal before exercising, reduce your basal rate before exercising if you have a pump
>>
>>10262145
There's a huge weight room in the campus gym so I can use that for my primary exercising. I don't intend to get hella ripped just want less flubber and a bit of tone.

>>10262148
I'll have to experiment with lowering my bolus before exercise to see where the goldilocks effect lies. I'm on injections with a cgm so maybe my overall basal dose is too high. I do see my endo soon, will get more tips on how to safely lose the weight from him.

Thanks gulls!

Depends what dress it is. Their most common ones are either twill (it's commonly translated as "burberry" fabric(in katakana) in their original sales pages, if you can get to to those pages). The other one is baniran weave fabric.

They favour these two, like probably 90% of cotton print dresses is either one of these. Occasionally you'll find the odd cotton jacquard or something else unusual though (yes, we're talking prints on cotton. For solids they have a karami weave that comes back every year on top of these).
>>
>>10261971
That's just like your opinion, man.

So. I got bunch of Halloween themed JSKs because I'm weak. Mostly AP prints. They're sweet and cute. But I coord them with black. My issue is that people call it gothic lolita just because it's coorded with black. Is there any real name for such style?

Is there a gallery or blog post that lists brand lace designs? This would help me as a noob to avoid replica designs for handmade items, and I'm also curious if Moitie ever makes lace without crosses in it.
>>
>>10262493
It's just sweet. Some might try to call it bittersweet, but it's just sweet. There's nowhere saying that sweet lolitas can't use the color black.
>>
>>10262495
The 90% wool ones are supposed to be quite heavy and good for cold weather. I've ordered two wool btssb coats and one should be arriving today or tomorrow so I can give you an update on the quality then. I'm Canadian so my standards for warm are pretty high.
>>
>>10262543
Agreed, people who call it gothic just because it's black don't know anything about gothic lolita.
>>
>>10262543

>>
>>10262493
It's sweet lolita but you can call it bittersweet if you like to, people here will just act butthurt about it. If you want to find coord inspiration it's a useful term.

Moitie did roses, coffins, MmM, candelabras... You should look at their official webshop or lolibrary.org before asking something this retarded.
>>
>>10262547
Did you order straight from Baby, anon?
>>
>>10262566
I did look at the WW shop, but I only saw designs that include crosses. I don't have enough autism to look at every single item every single brand has made on lolibrary, so I was hoping maybe there's a blog post or image gallery that collects all AP lace designs, all Moitie lace designs, etc. Non necessarily all brands in one place since that sounds too ambitious, but maybe a fan of a brand has kept track of that brand's lace.

I liked it enough to get both the JSK and OP, but I don't mind polyester.

Like >>10262653 mentioned, it's light and nice for warm weather, which I appreciate.

But I will say that the fabric has sort of a sheen to it. It doesn't photography badly and I think the sheen gives it a glittery feel so I like it, but just FYI.

I hope this picture helps to clarify what I mean. Dreaming Present does not have this shine to it.

Other releases have this as well and I like how it looks.

Coat anon here, this arrived. The quality is great and it's definitely thick. It has that kind of felted texture of coarse wool or lambswool. It's also fairly loose, esp in the arms, so layering would be really easy.
I paid 90k yen for it, definitely worth it at that price. I wouldn't say it replaces an engineered down parka, but ymmv depending on how brutal your winters are.
I'll have to test it out whenever it actually gets cold here.

One of the prints I own with it is kumya-chan's sweet chocolate if that helps. I've had this happen to me before as well. Twice, actually. Has anyone been scammed by DevilInspired/given estimates for the completion of a custom sized item and then lied to/ignored by CS? I was told my item would take a while and it has been well beyond all time estimates they have given me. Then today when I called them out on it via email just asking for either a refund or shipping information or some sort of realistic update, they ignored my emails and then sent one saying my order status was changed to 'reversal', then 'pending'. Does anyone know what this means? I opened a PayPal dispute specifying I wanted shipping information, the actual items, or a refund within whatever time frame PayPal allows the seller to respond but I genuinely don't know if they're trying to refund me or trying to string me along and keep my money. She has hair down to her waist. Can you use a wig with that much hair?

Depending on how thick her hair it is it can be tough, but you can flatten anything down into a wig cap with enough patience.
>>
>>10262946

>>
If bloomers are considered lingerie, why peeking bloomers style is appropriate?
>>
>>10263306
I have my hair past my ass and I can squeeze it in a wig.

But like >>10263310 mentioned, it is harder the thicker the hair is. I recommend buying a wig cap that has a hole at the top.

Don't make two braids, wrap it around your head and then put the wig cap on like some people recommend for long hair.

From experience that makes it more bulky. You do want to separate into two sections and twist them so you can warp them around your head in a compact way at first.

Then pull the wig cap up (I put it around my neck so it makes things easier and them pull above my head). Through the opening at the top, move the hair around so it is as flat as possible on top of your head.

Pin the wig cap so it doesn't side around and you're ready to go.

Anon Devilinspired is a dropshipper. They literally buy off taobao shops for you and charge 2x-4x the price you would have paid if you copy pasted a link into a SS website. That's why it takes so long, it ships from the original taobao shop in china to you. And taobao custom orders are usually a pain, I once waited 6 months for a HMHM coat.
You have no one but yourself to blame.

>>
>>10263347
I knew they get them from Taobao shops and resell and all but expected their time estimates that they directly told me to be accurate? Like I was fine with waiting a while but not being lied to. If they said "would take 6 months" that is different than "this will take 3 months" and then when 3 months have passed telling me "it will take 3 weeks" and then after those 3 weeks saying "it will take 3 more weeks" only after filing a PayPal claim. Time isn't my issue. The lack of transparency/blatant lying is.
>>
>>10263360
Waist ties are the most common way I've seen to increase a dress bodice size. You could probably also buy the matching skirt and use that fabric but for 4cm waist ties should be enough. Even Holy Lantern's thin waist ties are about 2cm wide each.
>>
Where can I find a decent tall friendly underdress for lolita?
>>
>>10263390
*underskirt
>>
>>10263314
I wouldn't consider them lingerie, they're more just an extra layer for modesty and comfort. They keep your petticoat from feeling scratchy on your legs and allow you to bend down, sit on the ground, etc. without your butt showing.
Like many things in lolita, the peeking bloomers look comes from historical fashion. It was a common look for young Victorian girls. They'd make their bloomers slightly longer than their skirts so they could run around and play freely. People with more money to dress their children would make them fancier, like pic attached. Think of visible bloomers like an optional extra layer, like wristcuffs. Not always neseccary for every coord, but sometimes just a cute extra layer of frill.
It's also a lot more common in Japan for women to wear safety shorts under their skirts in general, not just in lolita fashion.

what would be a good shirt fabric to wear tight if i want it to be matte and breathable?
>>
>>10263454
Partially that too! Their exact purpose and look really depended on the class of the people dressing their child, but overall the purpose is still freedom of movement while maintaining modesty. It was even a trend for grown women to wear peeking ankle length bloomers in several eras of Victorian dress, like the 1830's.
Long bloomers are a good way to stretch the life of a dress for a growing child, but they're also a good way to show off fancy lace trim you were wealthy enough to dress your child in. There's even some really funny articles from back then on how to dress your little girl fashionably without being too tacky and preventing her from playing because you piled too many feathers on her head. Here's a website that copied them down, I found it to be a really entertaining read! It actually reminds me a bit of our arguments about toned down vs. OTT lolita.
http://www.victoriana.com/edwardianfashions/edwardianchildren.php

Getting your photo taken back then was quite expensive, so most of the actual historical photos we have are of the fancier looks, but people with less money definitely would've just dressed their little girls in simple cotton or linen bloomers they could easily run around and play in and they would've recycled their garments as much as possible.
>>
>>10263440
If you want to wear it pulled back on the sides like that, you'll need a lace front for a realistic hairline.
If you're not good at wig styling, look at drag wig sellers on Etsy. They can easily make you something already styled.

If you're good at wig styling, I'd suggest buying a basic black lace front from anywhere, like Amazon, eBay, your local beauty supply store, wherever, and then cutting the bangs yourself. There's lots of YouTube tutorials for that style, they're called Bettie Bangs.
If you're using synthetic hair, you'll have to part off the section you're using for the bangs and steam it so it lays down in front of your forehead rather than the part a lace front usually comes in, then cut the bangs and use a flat iron on low heat to bump them. You can use rollers and steam again to curl the rest of the hair. You'll need a mannequin head for the steaming process, but cut the bangs with the wig on so they're the right length.
Unlike human hair, synthetic only changes it's shape and direction with heat, hence why you'll need to use steam.
>>
>>10263390
Little Dipper on Taobao makes some pretty underskirts that are quite long in lots of classic friendly colors. There's also several Etsy sellers that can make you one completely custom (color, # of tiers of ruffles) if you just search lolita underskirt.
Make sure you have a nice heavy duty petticoat or hoop skirt to layer though, underskirts can be quite heavy and crush your poof.

Yes. Also very, very generally, you can sometimes wear an a-line petticoat with dresses that could fit more poof, but you can't ever stuff a cupcake petti into an a-line dress, if that makes sense.
It doesn't always work, but its worth trying on what you have with your a-line petti to see if it works. As long as it doesn't look excessively droopy or deflated, styling a dress with a lighter a-line petti can even be a good way to tone a look down.

>>10264495
Classic brands are my favourite for coats. MM made nice, heavy ones that come up on second-hand sites pretty frequently. VM is good too.

What was the ihop-chan incident?

rarted

They had a kick-starter of some sort that was successful and it saved them.
>>
>>10264735
earlier this year some girl was posting people to the ita thread for being fat, and I can’t remember how, but she outed herself and turned out to be way fatter and more ita than the people she was posting. She ate at ihop a lot I think, hence the nickname. I might have some details wrong though

When you sell something in LM, your invoice should include the shipping cost right? And you need to ask the buyer for their shipping address? Im selling something for the first time and I want to make sure I do this right...
>>
>>10264809
Yes, send an invoice that combines cost of the item + shipping.
Some people have it in their terms of service that they’ll only ship to the PayPal address and just use it, but personally as a buyer I like being asked to confirm the address.
>>
>>10264655
this is definitely the wrong board if you’re looking for masculine women. if it’s not weeb fashion then go to /fa/
>>
>>10264655
try visual kei (vkei), or ouji; or even just punk
>>
>>10264809
There's a box for adding the shipping price on PayPal invoices, so yes, you include it. You must send to the address you receive on PayPal or you will not have seller protection. And unlike the other anon, I prefer not to have the seller ask me on LM my address because it's redundant and less secure.
>>
>>10264495
Do not get ap if you want a warm coat
>>
>>10264864
this, I own 2 AP long coats and they suck in comparison to my normie coats
>>
>>10264859
I’m the other anon - I agree it’s redundant, but it’s not less secure imo.
Of course the shipping address they tell you on Lacemarket should match the one in PayPal. If it’s a completely different address, I probably wouldn’t ship it there.
I have things shipped to my workplace and PayPal displays the address in a really weird way, so I like being asked so I can make sure the seller has all parts of the address in correct order.

I don't trust LM to keep my pm private. I'm not sure why you do?

If in the process of losing weight, is it best to wait until all the weight is lost before trying to wear lolita or altering already owned dresses in reversible ways?

I have no intention of reselling any of the dresses I own (and bust altered items seem to go quickly secondhand anyway) so I'm not concerned about the resale value going down.

I only have 2 dresses I can currently wear comfortably but I often look at my other dresses hanging there and wish the weight loss process wasn't so long and hard with little reward for me until close to the very end...

Sometimes wearing the brand I do have makes me more excited to keep going so I'm wondering if it would be good for my motivation/morale to alter one or two of my things so I can have a slightly larger wearable wardrobe in the meantime
>>
>>10264949
If it makes you happy, go for it. You already stated that you don't really care about resale value, so what is stopping you? Especially if it motivates you to lose more weight. Good luck with your weight loss anon, I don't know how much you still need to lose but keep up the good work.

Got drunk and bought two things from Wunderwelt Fleur impulsively like a retard. Can I cancel my order?
>>
>>10264958
It says this in their Q&A:
Can I cancel my order?
Generally we don't accept order cancellations for any reason. Please make sure to confirm the item details, item condition and size/measurements before ordering.
Under certain circumstances orders can be canceled as long as they have not been shipped yet.
Customers wishing to cancel their order should contact us as soon as possible via phone or email.
We cannot accept order cancellations under any circumstances after orders have been shipped. Thank you for your understanding.

>>10264971
Holy fuck, anon. I messaged them an hour after I realized what I did. Fingers crossed.
>>
>>10264955

Thanks for the advice and encouragement anon; I took the plunge and disassembled one JSK just now and was able to use the matching tote to add extra matching fabric to the bust and straps without having to use the waist ties. I'm going to stitch it up tomorrow and wear one of my favorite prints for the first time!

(And I'm a relatively experienced seamstress so I will totally be able to resize it for a better fit as my bust and torso shrink with continued weight loss!)
>>
what style is liz lisa targeted for? Don't say gy*ru pls.
>>
>>10264990
himekaiji, but sometimes its a little more larme/general, depends on what pieces youre looking at
>>
Is a blouse or cutsew neccesary when wearing a jsk +short sleeved bolero?
>>
>>10264646
There are dresses that work with both, meta makes ones like pintuck tiered jsk and also newer IW can fit either
>>
>>10265066
Depends if the JSK is particularly low cut, but usually no.
>>
>>10264949
I lost weight, and although I altered the dresses I wish I hadn't. The job wasn't bad and they look fine, but they hang off me now.
>>
>>10264653
No, not at all. Also they're ita as fuck.
>>
>>10265076

Did you alter the items yourself or pay a seamstress? I guess I have the benefit of being able to make adjustments on my own time and for free, while for some it would be neccesary to pay someone.

I totally get how things being too big would get frustrating later on down the line.
>>
>>10265069
So as long as there is no visible cleavage I'm good?
>>
>>10256834
Ok, so I'm guessing sweet j-fash and maybe even sweet lolitas do know about specific panties, tops, bras, and hair decoration like hair gums and stuff like that. I'm interested in that, for my gf, anyone can give me directions or examples?

What's a good taobao store where I can buy berets?
>>
Any taobao or indie shops like Souffle Song that do custom blouses? (Or have really large busted plus sizes? Willing to do an SS if there are any really really good shops with nice feeling materials or cotton/breathable synthetic fabrics. I know an*tai*na has some items available on Amazon for reasonable price and all are listed as cotton, but I'm looking for more color options (pink, white, off white, black, maybe lavender). Basically done buying main pieces for a while unless they are my DDs or specific themes that suit my wardrobe, so now I'm trying to build up a better blouse and accessory collection.
>>
>>10265003
Alright thanks. Also, why is it frowned upon to wear a classic lolita coord without petticoats? It seems to always end up in it a threads.
>>
>>10265270
Lady Sloth and Triple Fortune do plus-size. Iirc Lady Sloth has lots of colours unless you buy something with custom lace.
>>
>>10264653
We only call coords old-school if they are really old-school in every aspect and detail.
>>
>>10265285

Every lolita coord regardless of substyle should usually have a petticoat. No petticoat = ita if you are trying to pass it as lolita rather than otome or something. Petticoats are generally speaking a requirement of the fashion, and necessary to give dresses the appropriate silhouette. You can wear brand pieces without pettis or lolita styling but then the outfit isn't lolita even if the main pieces are brand.
>>
>>10265260

Not sure if you're looking for plain or decorated berets but these stores have both. Hope that helps!

How do you cope with wearing lolita in a hot climate? I want to go out for the first time wearing lolita, but i don't want to get all sweaty.
>>
>>10265500
You can wear pettis with other styles too but anon specifically asked why no-petticoat lolita outfits get put in the ita thread and I just explained that lolita needs a petticoat so if you wear brand and are going for lolita and not another style, you need a petticoat.

Never once did I say you can't use it in otome. Just that you have to in lolita and that's why not doing it will get you called ita.

Oldschool can be ita too.

And we don't. Your point is?
>>
A legit stupid question: Why are rectangle headdresses and wristcuffs a thing in the fashion? Where do these pieces draw their inspiration from?
>>
>>10265285
It's a staple. It would be like a "goth" outfit that was in pink or a "victorian" period wear outfit that uses more edwardian elements.

No petti can only work if it's a very tastefully done oldschool coord that's very clearly going for the pre-petti era.
