Concrit on this coord I'm planning? Is it too much pink?

I have literally nothing navy in my wardrobe to match the main color of the dress
>>
>>10118406
If you're not tight on time/money, I suggest buying navy tea parties - the lavender doesn't fit as well as navy would
>>
>>10118406
Not feeling the tights desu. The theme doesn't fit with the rest imo. Also agreeing with navy tea parties.
>>
>>10118406
>>10118408
Seconding a switch out on the tights, go with a sprinkles, ice cream, or even stripes that match the bodice.

I bought these damn boots and now I don't know how to wear them. Anyone have coord inspo with this colorway or want to whip something up?
>>
>>10118406
this is kind of shite. why buy the navy if you don't have any navy and don't plan on buying any?
>>
>>10118407
Thanks! I'm not pressed for time so I'll probably order some

>>10118408
>>10118409
I was thinking that too, but I couldn't find striped tights in the colors I wanted.
Do you have any suggestions for some i could attempt to track down?

>>10118413
It was an impulse buy because I've loved Milky Planet in this colorway since I was a tiny weeb. Trying to coord it with my wardrobe hasnt been easy though.
What about it makes it shit? What can i swap out?
>>
>>10118417
Meta has some plain navy horizontal stripes in right now, but I personally find horizontal stripes overdone. I'd add some navy on your head and get navy shoes for color balance, then find pink diagonal stripe or sprinkle/ice cream pattern tights.

Thanks for the suggestions gulls!
I already went ahead and bought the shoes and headbows.
Here is an updated collage but then socks just feel....weeby?

I'm really struggling on the leg wear here....
>>
Could I have some feedback / opinions on this ouji? I'm not sure what kind of shorts I want to go with just yet, I'll probably go with some short pumpkin shorts to keep it cutesy, but I've never attempted any kind of sweet ouji before. Some things are just options ofc. The only things I'm set on is the blouse, vest, and overall theme (cutesy white rabbit).
>>
>>10118458
That headbow doesn't go at all. Is this your first coord...?
>>
>>10118475
I need to double check the colors when they arrive but they seem to fit. The head bows look darker here and the dress is definitely darker irl (this isnt my pic)

Assuming you mean the color of course.

Do you have better suggestions?
>>
>>10118477
>not answering

So yes. It's the style of the headbow that doesn't fit. Which you would be able to pick up on if you were familiar with coordinating.
>>
>>10118481
Not answering because it felt more like an insult than an actual question....
Like, if the coord is shit, then it's shit and I can get suggestions to fix it. That's why I'm here in the first place.
But going NUH UHH IVE BEEN A LOLITA SINCE I WAS 5
doesnt really do anyone any good...

Personally, I think the style is fine. It does lean more classic, but I'm more using it for color balance as the focal point will be the ice cream anyway.
I'm probably being too defensive though. The bows are just what I found easily accessible tonight, I can find something better later.
>>
>>10118485
>STILL dancing around it

It's okay to be new but just admit it so we can actually help you.
>>
>>10118485
it's a very classic/mature sweet leaning headbow on a very sweet dress. the kind of lace used and the pearls does not look good at all with the more "cartoony" vibes of milky planet. it would be more suited to more mature AP. stop being so assmad over being called out for being new and you might improve more quickly. it's dumb as fuck to spend the money on something that doesn't work just because it's readily available to you.
>>
>>10118487
>not being able to discern the answer from above rant.

Dude, I'm not new. I'm just shit at coordinating, so help me get better instead of continuing to argue about something pointless?
>>
>>10118490
That's even more pathetic. It would at least be understandable if you were new to lolita.
>>
>>10118489
The headbow REALLY doesn't clash that badly, you're being really nitpicky. It's fine.
>>
>>10118491
Still dont know why you're looking for a fight, but okay.

I'll swap out the headbows for something sweeter. Currently looking at Kira Kira Milky Way accessories as a possible replacement.
I'm still really hung up on the socks though. I can't seem to find any I like. The pink stripes just seem too weeby/costumey and I cant disagree that the first option for them fell flat as well.

Help me anon, I'm stuck
>>
>>10118495
>asks for help
>gets mad when someone is vague
>gets mad and tells anon they are nitpicking when you get specific detailed help

Really?
>>
>>10118497
Anon I literally just said I was taking your advice and looking for a different headbow...
I got irritated when the "are you new" got drawn out, that's true. I probably should have just let it go but I actually cant see why you're so bothered?
>>
>>10118500
Shut the fuck up newbie. Nobody is "bothered" about your shit coord. Go ahead and ignore advice and be ita.
>>
>>10118495
What about pink ankle socks? There's a cute pair AP has now that might work. They also have a little pearl attached to the ribbon which would be cute with the pearls on the blouse.
>>
>>10118500
Don’t worry, that anon’s probably just baiting. I personally would go with a sweeter styled head bow, but I don’t see any issue with the one you’re using.
>>10118511
Seconding this!! I’ve got a pair of these, and they’re super comfy. They match with pretty much everything, incredibly easy to work into coords.
>>
>>10118511
That might work!
I'll keep looking, as I prefer otks as a personal preference, but I will definitely keep them in mind
>>
>>10118495
Stop arguing with that anon, they have a stick up their ass and are just egging you in
>>
>>10118458
*rolls up sleeves*

Overall what is your inspiration for this coordinate? Is this for a specific event? Is there a specific theme you have in mind? Will weather be a factor? Is there a specific look or feeling you would like to emulate with this coord?
>>
>>10118547
OTT pastel vomit was the idea but I dont usually coordinate dark colors OR OTT looks so I'm a bit lost (obviously)

I put together an extremely shitty collage in paint to see what the actual pieces would look like on my body.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to also try to track down some navy wrist cuffs and swap out the socks for something else.
Also might forgo the ice cream and bows for a large headbow instead.

It's a potential coord for an event this summer and will likely be hot as balls but I live in an extremely hot climate so I'm pretty used to it.

Thoughts?
>>
>>10118550
Imo I think you should tone down the pinks regardless of the theme. The wig could be darker, might work if its natural.
>>
>>10118552
Makes sense, and my natural hair might honestly be more comfortable anyway
>>
>>10118553
I'm not too great at coords either so get a secondary opinion first. Love the concept, but if you're going to go full pastel vomit with a colorway that isnt entirely pastel you should probably expect it to be ita.
>>
>>10118492

>>

oof 10 million years later
plz excuse this awful shoop my phone is ass to edit pics on

First: Go to Claire's--hear me out--and get some of their alligator clip-in small to medium bows. Their selection is usually good in stores and they usually always have deals so you can buy multiple for cheap. I like to use these to add into pre-existing headpieces like I tried to demonstrate to add a bit of flair and customization. You can also get packs of the tiny ones and clip them to pieces of your outfit.

The necklace you had previously was cute, but the navy and pink combo is a bold one, and I think the mints and yellows were a bit much to throw in as well, so instead I slid in a necklace and additional hairclips from Twylitefashion's etsy. Having a navy necklace on the pink blouse would help the chunk of navy of the dress and the chunk of the pink of the blouse transition more smoothly together I think.

What I struggled with most was legwear; like a previous anon mentioned I think pink crew socks are still 100% your best bet, however keeping in mind they're not your favorite I looked for alternatives. Closetchild has the Meta CL Night Carnival socks which might work if you don't mind the slightly random balloon and pony motifs, but then you'd need pink shoes. Ideally if you want otks I'd shoot for something like the AP Fancy Box OTKs, but since they're not up for sale now (that I've seen anyways) I included slightly similar bluexpink diagonal stripe otks from Lolita Collective which are probably my least favorite desu. A bit busy. Lastly I found these Merrygoround tights for sale on LM that might actually work really well but then you'd need to switch to pink shoes.
>>
>>10118563
this coord looks fine to me? Although I'd switch to some black shoes and perhaps a black or blackxpink purse. Other than that it looks good!
>>
>>10118580
sidenotes:

Twylitefashion doesn't seem to have actual navy navy accessories but you might be able to ask for custom color?

I really don't recommend the Lolita Collective socks due to their business but I wanted to include them anyways to help give ideas. If you found something in the same vein with softer colors it could work since the diagonal stripes would coin ide with the diagonal stripe accents on the dress.

>>10118585
Omg anon thank you! I definitely think the Fancy box socks look the best, it's just a matter of whether or not I can find them.
I appreciate your help and suggestions
>>
Is pairing a black old velveteen moitie jsk with a short sleeved white blouse a very bad idea?
I really wanted to go for a more "summer-y" old school look, but worry that the dress itself looks too warm.
I'm also not sure what kind of legwear/shoes would go well with it then.
>>
>>10118550
All of this to me is just like the #1 reason you don't budge on buying your preferred color. I feel like no matter how this coord turns out, it'll be like the ugly duckling of your wardrobe.
>>
>>10118500
They've been baiting this poor girl from the start. Reading this post mortem I have to wonder how she didn't see it by this point.
>>
>>10118458
ditch the pearl chain and bows, they look out of place and theres no pearls elsewhere in this coord. the ice cream cone is hilarious and so cute. the blue tea paties really tie in the navy nicely but i suggest wearing a navy barette on your head together with the ice cream cone!
if you can find any socks which are the same stripes as the stripes on the jsk it would be so cute, i think.

hello anon! milky planet in navy is one of my favorite dresses and I have around 10 coordinates saved - if I'm stuck on how to wear something, I usually look up how others have worn it for inspiration so I hope this collage helps.

I think your original shoe + blouse combo was fine!
>>
>>10118466
the red and black playing card socks work the best IMO! the shoes + vest are fine, although if you're dead set on making it look sweet you might want a blouse with a jabot/bowtie since those look a bit cuter. the scarf and the bag go really well individually, but the whole thing would look nicer if the shades of red matched.

Sort of offtopic, but I hope this works out! I really wish there were more sweet ouji coords out there because the goth vampire prince aesthetic is, frankly, getting a bit tired.
>>
>>10118615
just save yourself the trouble and don't wear velveteen in summer. No matter what you pair it with, you'll regret it. its just too warm.
>>
>>10118563
Honestly for your first coord this is pretty good. Only thing I would change is the shoes. Good luck!
>>
>>10118618
The navy was my preferred color but hindsight, I probably should have picked something more cohesive with the rest of my wardrobe...

>>10118631
I'll ditch the bows for sure. My friend and I are going to the mall today so we might stop by claire to see if they have anything cheap and navy.

Per the previous anon's suggestion, I'm currently on the hunt for Fancy Box otks because they just seem so perfect for this.

Thank you for the suggestions!.

>>10118650
Thanks for the inspo anon! I hadn't seen the left two coords and they're so cute!
>>
New to lolita. What colors/dresses (if you feel spoon-feedy enough) would work well with this blouse? I like ivory/cream colors, though I think a soft pink would look cute to match the bow. Any thoughts? I guess a more mature sweet coord is what I'm going for
>>
>>10118580
Those teal moon and star things don’t match at all and none of those socks look nice imo.
>>
>>10118786

>>
>>10118657
Thanks nonny! I think I'm going to go with the bag and keep things brighter. I'm usually a goth so this is way out of my comfort zone, but I really wanted to try something new! And I'm a sucker for sweet ouji.
>>
>>10118458
>First: Go to Claire's
Please don't do this... claire's is full of nasty, ugly cheap stuff. Just get some nice things from 2nd hand or from brands.
>>
>>10118808
Doesn’t change that those socks are bad.
>>
>>10118406
I think there’s plenry of pink and lavender in the print to pull out in your accessories and shoes, I don’t know why anons here insist you have to match navy in the rest of your print. You don’t, you can let that be the bold stand out part of the coordinate and keep with the rainbow pastel theming everywhere else.
>>
>>10118580
Looks like shit. Wait at least 6 months more lurking and looking at coords before you buy anything else.

>>
>>10118777
Well first of all don't try to coord around a blouse unless it's super unique. This blouse can go with countless dresses in a lot of different colors. Main rule of cream is don't mix with white. Dusty colors over pastels would work better too but otherwise the sky is the limit?

The only thing I'd recommend is a different pink blouse, that bodyline blouse doesn't look very good irl and is pretty scratchy
>>
How do you get out of the stage where your coords are just "good"?
I've been in the fashion for a while now, but I feel stuck in a space where my coords are decent but just....boring.

I get a decent amount of likes on COF but not a whole lot. I get hardly any comments and when I'm posted to the COF threads on cgl, no one ever comments on my coords....

At this point I almost want to pull together something really crazy just to experiment, knowing full well it'll likely be ita
>>
>>10119221
Experimenting is the best way to do it imo, even if the end result is ita. That's a part of the learning process, making mistakes and learning what NOT to do from them.
>>
>>10119221
Honestly it might not be your coordinates that are the problem. It could be a number of other things.

>Your photos
Are your poses interesting and dynamic? Are your photos clear and bright? Do you edit the lighting and clarity? Are your backgrounds interesting or at the least clean and neat? You could have a perfect coordinate, but poor lighting, a dull photo, and a messy background will cause people to ignore it while scrolling.

>Presentation
Your coordinate may be perfect but is it neat? Are your shoes clean? Are your clothes pressed and steamed, free of wrinkles? Is your hair (or wig) combed and neat or are there flyaways, messy untrimmed bangs, etc?

It's little things like I mentioned that can really bring attention to your coordinates.
>>
>>10119221
Are you attractive and do you take photos in interesting places?
>>
>>10119224
To my knowledge, all of those things are in place.

My best guess is that my coordinates are too "safe"
I think I might follow the rules a bit too closely and it makes my coords boring.

I usually hate self posting, but could I make a collage of my more recent coords and get some feedback? Even if that feedback is "you suck at the fashion" at least I'll know what's going on
>>
>>10119228
I feel like I'm attractive if not a little plain. I'm self conscious about the dark circles under my eyes and usually correct them in an editor.
I've definitely wondered if I overshoop sometimes, but no one has ever mentioned it so I guess I'm safe.

Location wise, I usually take photos in my front yard because I live in a place that has very few interesting spots lol everything is brown in my state
>>
>>10119230
honestly anon, theres nothing wrong with having boring coordinates. as long as you're happy with what you are wearing, that is what matters. in the lolita community, the best thing for you is to be ignored and go under the radar. its not like lolita fame gets you anything tangible in terms of sponsorships, angelic pretty isn't handing out free dresses to the top posters of CoF. its all fake. if no one is pointing out faults with your coords, then theres nothing wrong with your coords.

you don't have to push the lolita envelop and always be innovative and interesting.

if you're bored with your coordinates, then make albums on your computer of the pieces you own and use that to figure out where you're lacking. do you need more shoes? do you need more cardigans and blouses? are you lacking in accessories?

also, make albums for the dresses you do own and save other coordinates that inspire you. i have a whole album of AP coordinates sorted by print name on my desktop and it helps a lot seeing how other people coordinate the prints i have and taking inspiration from that.
>>
>>10119234
I guess when you put it like that, it makes sense.

I have this weird urge to be noticed? Like I dont want to be a nobody.
That's silly though, as you said, you dont get anything out of it really.
I guess i care too much what strangers on the internet think.
>>
>>10118550
Honestly, its not bad. I would change the entire head though. The ice-cream head-bow looks cheap and the black/pearl head-bow matches nothing. The wig needs to try and balance out the pink already in the coord so, maybe something darker. Navy wrist-cuffs and a pink bag would complete the look (after the top part gets fixed obv).
>>
>>10119235
>I have this weird urge to be noticed? Like I dont want to be a nobody.

Take a look at moite coords with similar simple black/white dresses for inspo. Play around with different black and white pieces until you get a mix that looks good.

Does anyone have any pictures of coords with Meta's Night Carnival skirt? I haven't been able to find any pics of it, only the JSK and OP versions. I'm mostly interested in seeing what people did with the lavender or pink versions.

I'm having a hell of a time balancing out the different colors in the print. I have a couple blouses that can match the pink and yellow stripes or the off-white lace, but they all wind up looking waaaay too pastel and sugary sweet when contrasted with the print, which is very dark and graphic, kind of comic book style. I was thinking maybe a black or navy blouse or cut sew?
>>
>>10120572
cute! my only nitpick is the shoes look a little too... ebay/cheap imo, i'd go for something more like those AP shoes pictured with the tights youre planning to use (or just something without that obvious brown sole/trim at the front that a lot of taobao shoes have basically). absolute nitpick though, this is cute!

personally would go for a pair of simple black UTKs with maybe some black sock garters to hold them up so they don't distract from the redxblack stripes. a lil bit of knee would be good with this i think.
>>
>>10119957
Oldschool longsleeve with the detachable sleeves, black lacetop utks, chunky black platforms or the meta stripper heels, and a rectangle headdress.
>>

>>

>>
>>10121041
Yo where is this from???
>>
>>10120672
i think i kind of get the direction you were going for, but nothing about it is working. don't consider those creepers for a second. it would definitely be better to pull on the navy or off white for your blouse and to use the brighter colors for accessories. you're missing the color mark with pretty much everything you posted- it looks like you're trying to match colors to things that just aren't there.

you can use the rather obnoxious yellows, pinks, and greens out of the skirt without it looking like shit. don't be afraid of them. you're leaning pastel with everything when the skirt uses very bold, bright colors, and it looks really strange.
>>
>>10120672
Anons will say I have bad taste but I actually love the shoes and think they will work as long as you wear that jacket. You definitely need a headdress, maybe a beret, and a navy cutsew instead of a blouse to keep the cool casual vibe going.

I think it is a pretty cute jfashion outfit if people are giving you too much shit about being strictly lolita.

I've spent the last couple of months gathering main pieces and building up a wardrobe but I haven't had a chance to start coordinating until now. I've been researching and looking up how people are pairing these pieces but when I put something together it comes out so.. plain. I know it's because I'm not choosing the right pieces or colours but I'm scared of picking out something that just won't match. I'm wearing the same blouse, shoes and wig colour because I don't think something else would suit me.

I'm not looking for someone to make a whole coordinate for me - but I am looking for some sort of direction, if that's possible. I'm still new when it comes to this so I'd love some guidance and suggestions to change it up. I just feel so lost sticking to the same thing and not changing it because I'm not comfortable with looking bad or tasteless.

Pictures left to right are newest to oldest. We just had a hot summer so that's the reason I'm wearing low socks in some of these.
>>
>>10121203
You’re really cute and second to left is my favorite. I’d say to buy some Lolita shoes (tea party or similar) and a cute bag that fits your style.
>>
>>10121203
Seconding >>10121212 on the shoes and bag, but I also think you might think your coords are plain because you're barely accessorizing. Start looking into jewelry more, and I'm sure you'll be able to spruce these up a bit.
>>
>>10121203
Throwing in a mint, pink or brown beret, blouse and OTK will totally change the looks while still being cohesive. You have a super cohesive wardrobe and you can vary it by steering away from white blouse and legwear every so often.
>>
>>10121203
These are adorable! And you know, plain is fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

But if you want to dress it up more, maybe add a pop of color. I own the two pieces you have on the left. That colorway of chess chocolate goes well with pink, mint, darker brown. I've seen others coord it with red. It's ivory, so it lends itself to other colors well. Sometimes adding a pop of color can do wonders. If you wardrobe is mostly ivory, adding some colors in that realm can really help. You can also try adding additional hair accessories. Sometimes a plain headbow is great. Other times, you'll want to dress it up a bit. A beret or other style of hat is a good safe way to change things up. I like adding gold accessories. Sometimes I'll make pearl chains to clip into my hair and wear along with the headbow to spice things up a bit.
>>
>>10120672
Dream print right here.

First of all- this is a BUSY and LOUD print, so let it do ALL the talking. The less the better. You want solid colors and stick to only TWO. Pink and light blue? NO to those shoes and NO to that star thing, that's tacky af. Also NO to the pin, the carousel necklace, and maybe the start necklace. Keep the jacket if you're coording the pink skirt.

Less accessories and solid color blocks. Maybe a beret or small headbow? Think simple, anon.

>>

Switch the shoes or for lavender and keep the socks pink. Get jewelry too.

>>
>>10121424
>>10121427
You probably should have bought pink shoes for versatility in sweet and allowing pinks in your wardrobe.

But with white shoes, the pink socks are a good choice. You could also opt for a white blouse and wear Lavender socks with pink accents. Add another pink bow into your Headbow to tie it together well with your bag. Shoe clips also are nice, but I don't think those shoes are the ones with removable bows.
>>
>>10121529
Yeah I do realize that pink shoes would have been better. I’ll expand my shoes once I get more pieces. Should the lavender match? It’s hard to tell colors exactly on a computer screen.
>>
>>10121522
Do you not know what NWT means you retard?

I can't believe no one has told you to keep the moto jacket to your normie clothes. lord almighty I am so sick of moto jackets in lolita. the only time it works is for punk which only a rare few can pull off, and it sure as shit doesn't work in sweet prints like this.

Thanks for the suggestion! Thinking of getting one of the bat wing over skirts, some of the Bb&b jewerly from the past halloween collection, and maybe a grey, pastel orange, or brown updo wig with bat wing bows? Not sure if an overskirt would be flattering with the higher waist line, though. I've been having trouble finding color matching desu, most bat and halloween things come in black, not brown and grey. Also, the name 'Halloween treats' is way too generic to search, I've only been able to find two coord pics so far. They both had berets for the head piece which was kind of cute...

Im an M. You just have to act quickly because those listings sell very fast. I spend a lot of time searching second hand for my dream items and I've seen listings like that pop up dozens and dozens of times over the years.
>>
>>10121683
M also doesn't seem to disappear that quickly, but yeah if it's that cheap it'll go. I'm an L, so either it's cheap and sold faster than any ss or practically retail price. Or it's ugly and destroyed and at that point, I'd rather not.
>>
>>10121683
>dozens of times over years
ok but the thing is OP wanted shoes now for her first coord, not at erratic times. the backtracking just gets worse and worse! and if you really weren't a larper you'd understand that sometimes the same/similar pieces pop up frequently for a period of time and then just randomly stop.
>>
>>10121687
I'm sorry you have man feet.

>>10121690

>>
>>10121681
I think a white lacy shawl would be a good addition, if you can find that and lace tights with a similar lace pattern to match the hat it would add a ton of texture to it with just a subtle change. Or some lace topped utk socks, so that you see the tops of them.

nayrt, late to the convo, but I highly suggest not mixing bright cool white with off white. while the ear headband is cute af it's going to really stick out unless you get a bright white blouse from a gothic brand. these classic blouses will not match. also, be mindful of mixing wine with bright playing card red.
also, my favorite ouji coords make good use of brooches. and, last thing, wouldn't hurt to continue use of the gold trimmed black ribbon elsewhere, similar to that in the headband. like, on the wrists, or swapping out the boot laces. from what I've seen detail is key in ouji my friend

offwhite and cool lavenders anon.
I loved this skirt for casual so see if you can find a cute fairy kei-style sweater that doesn't detract from the print.
those creepers are cute but the purple will absolutely not match. as you know, the lav is a very difficult and cold, unsaturated lavender.
>in true Meta fashion, you won't find these shades from any other brand series

I spent so much time cultivating accessories to match. it's okay to wear a sweet blouse with this.

this blouse looks great. love the collar!
the jacket sleeves look short however and these long sleeves will highlight that. Would be ideal if the cuffs were made to roll up a bit and obscure where the sleeves end.
I think you should ditch the jacket for this. thermal underlayers would be better if you are considering cold temperatures.
the red bag you had looked a little too warm and bright of a red for the Baby otks so I tried to see what a black Milk bag would look. I like how it matches the boots here.
speaking of the boots: tried to show what gold trimmed ribbon laces might look like. also, added bunny tail to boot for whimsy. look into some fun little collar pins like the tiny playing card suit ones here

Here are my suggestions.

The beret doesn't really go. While at first glance, it looks like it mirrors the corset lacing on the front of the bodice, the material makes it clash. The felt gives off a completely different vibe than the chiffon of the dress.

Instead, I would try to incorporate gold and black with accessories that have to do with stars. (Pic related is a bit of an OTT idea, but some simple ribbon elements on twintails or sun/moon/star clips are cool, too.)

The tights look alright, but make sure that the gold print on them matches the tone/how vibrant the golds in the dress print are or else your legs will stand out weirdly.

The shoes clash with the vibe of the dress in a similar way to the beret. The oxfords and felt beret say librarian, but your dress says fairy astronomer.

I would suggest shoes like pic related. Either the AP ones or from An-Tai-Na. I would prefer the gold glitter over the black glitter, but either would work.

Newbies tend to be really focused on matching colors which isn't a bad thing to keep in mind, but other things like texture and concept of the outfit in general also need to be taken into account. Don't be afraid to not match everything to main color of the dress.
>>
>>10122886
You can do that, but imo bloomers are infinitely cuter and make every coord feel more complete. It's ultimately up to you though.

It’s an elitist newfag thing that’s sprung up on cgl in the last year, probably from anons who have secret shop shoes in their closet and just projecting

>>
>>10123358
Not really. When i started in 2011, people wouldn't really bring it up as a problem. Even people who hated replica owned replica shoes, or were fine with them, since the quality of actual brand shoes was fairly subpar.

>>
>>10123413
Since 2013 at least. That's not when I first got here but when I remember seeing people against them.
>>
>>10123413
So if no one brought it up, it's not a problem? I'm not new, I've been here since the Dakota threads, but keep calling it newfags. If you haven't bought modern shoes, you have no right to talk.
>>
>>10123355
Having owned Secret Shop and Angelic Pretty tea parties (bought directly from the brand and new), the Secret Shop shoes are practically identical. The main difference is the bottom sole of the shoe, and usually AP's bows will look a little bit nicer.

I don't think I'll purchase another pair of brand shoes. There's nothing superior about their quality that makes them worthwhile to own. It's not like a replica dress and the real thing when it comes to quality.

If I'm paying $140+ for a pair of shoes, I would expect them to be durable and last. No coating flaking or peeling off.
>>
y'all wouldn't be defending ap shoes if you owned any. they're garbage. there is no point in wasting money on brand shoes if the brands aren't willing to put any effort into making them durable.

Get better legwear and shoes, learn to style your hair. If you have a lot of brown dresses get brown shoes otherwise get pink. Also the flower crown is really out dated.
>>
Also, adding to the shoe discussion, I don't see the point in getting brand shoes. I'm not gonna get replicas cause that's shit but is there anything too bad about Bodyline or cottoncandyfeet shoes? They all last about the same afaik it's just CCF is $80 and AP is $140
>>
>>10123473
I own bodyline shoes, cotton candy, and brand. Bodyline is more comfortable than brand with some of their shoes that have heels. Cotton candy feet is alright. It's overpriced for what it is and about the same quality as bodyline but since Yanners never likes to keep his shit in stock so cotton candy feet is a convenient option.
>>
>>10123462
AP, Baby, and Meta all go up to LL 25.5cm. If you're larger, just buy offbrand. It doesn't have to be a design replica.

Ignore blouse anon I just got off some coord archives and yo this could be way worse but it's not nearly as bad as blouse-anon is making it sound.

You've got the right idea with the blouse, a peter pan collar works with the sweet square neckline, but this blouse is borderline too casual/kind of otome for such a sweet print. I would recommend an offwhite blouse with a smaller collar and light pink accents (ie buttons, jewels, ribbons, etc). This jsk looks great with short puff sleeves and sweet lace, so if you are determined to stay with long sleeves, maybe look into short sleeved blouses with removable sleeves, or putting a long sleeved bolero over top.

Purse is fine, matches the theme.

Some offwhite lace-topped otks or even utks would be really cute depending on how ye olden school you wanna go. You could also look into offwhite otks with pink ribbons or flowers going up the side, which in general are very easy styles to find for cheap, p sure Wunderwelt has some rn.

Shoe replicas are pretty passable and most people don't care honestly. There's only so many ways you can design simple shoes to match this style within the realm of reason, so I agree brown teaparties would be A+++.

Flower crown needs to either be left in 2015 or married to this coord in a different way that's more fitting (chiffon blouse, glitter heels, floral lace tights or ornately printed tights) if you want to bring up the elegance factor. This print is unique in that you can take it in a more romantic and delicate direction, or go full on ham it up 2012 sweet. But pick one or the other.

Why did you not just put all your hair up into the two buns? The bear ear effect would've been precious with a headbow or a few clip in bows for a more toned down look.
>>
>>10123468
Style your hair, learn to pose.

The socks are gross and the shoes need to go.

Stick with the browns and pinks on the dress for shoes and leg wear

Wondering what kind of purse (or accessories) would go with this coord?

Any other concrit is appreciated as well.
>>
>>10123510
Any kind of chocolate/buiscit/donut bag or even just a plain pink or brown heart bag. Do not use those tights, especially if they are white. Stay away from solid tights, solid OTKs are fine but make sure they are good quality. Go for brand, you can get plenty plain brand ones second hand. Baked sweets parade has ivory lace/cuffs so really avoid white at all costs.
>>
>>10123504
and? I didn't tell her it was perfect. I told her she has the right idea and to get a different one. Learn how to read. It could be much worse.
>>
>>10123473
Bodyline make several shoe replicas though. The popular classic ones are just Baby's Antique Ribbon Shoes
>>
>>10123510
You can go on lolilibrary, and look up bags related to chocolate or biscuits.
>>
>>10123524
The extreme anti-replica people are typically posers, they hate taobao but overlook the design and print replicas of bl. "I don't support people who make replicas" would imply bodyline too.
>>
>>10123473
If you wear sweet and don't wear big sizes check out catherine cottage and dearmylove. they are japanese brands that sell shoes for around $50
>>
Is it really possible to coord this dress in a gothic way? I love this print to death but classic just doesn’t suit me and all the coords I’ve seen for it are so samey and not too interesting to me.
>>
I tend to wear very classic lolita things, and am having trouble coording my DDC tiered jsk.
I'm thinking of using the ivory/yellow colour as a base colour (I found a chiffon infanta blouse with princess sleeves in the correct color, an ivory/yellow btssb headbow/or 3F bonnet in the same color, and hoping Sugary Carnival otk's will be the correct color when they arrive). But I have a problem with what shoes I should wear with this... Most of my shoes are black or navy, with the exception of a pair of white bodyline shoes and some light pink sneakers.

What do? I'm debating on whether I could pull the coord off with either pairs of shoes, or maybe buy some gold shoes (and bag) to go with this coord? (my only light-colored bag is a white btssb bag)
Any advice is welcome!

>>10124284
If you're going to buy a new bag and shoes it might be better to get pink or a very light brown that might go with the rest of your wardrobe better. Might just be the picture but to me that looks more like light brown than gold anyway.
>>
>>10124302
Solid OTKs have lace or scalloped edges to break up the blockiness. Plus it's easier to look like you have fat legs in tights than OTKs. If you weren't so new you'd know that.
>>
>>10124308
You shouldnt see the top of OTKs with that dress unless you're extremely tall or fat
>>
>>10124309
>newfag confirmed

This is a stereotype that hasn't actually been a thing in like 10 years
>>
>>10124313
Are you stupid or did you get confused with UTKs? That dress is supposed to reach your knees. If the socks are shorter than that, they are not OTKs.
>>
>>10121203

Your coording is not bad, but I agree with >>10121217 anon. You barely use any accessories, which makes your coords look kind of plain and "boring". Try to add 2-4 complementing accessory pieces to each coord and you should be fine.
>>
>>10121203
the sleeves of the second blouse look too short
>>
>>10124443
Poor newfag, it must be very confusing just getting into lolita.
>>
any ideas for this? I don't wanna go full black with it but i'm not sure what else to do.
>>
>>10124443
OTKs mean over the knees, it has nothing to do with the length of the dress. People can wear OTKs and a dress that doesn't reach their knees. You shouldn't call other people stupid when you are critical levels of it.
>>
>>10124563
pretty sure that anon just means that plain OTKs and plain tights look the same on a dress that reaches your knees
>>

They didn't say that anywhere and said dresses HAVE to reach to your knees.

It's a sort of dark gold I think - it looks brown to gold depending on the lighting actually. This dress feels like it's in between so many shades, it's a nightmare to find something of the same exact color. But slightly darker shoes and bag (whether it be a dark gold or light brown) could work it out and make everything seem cohesive probably? I'm definitely not buying a pink bag because I'll never wear it out other than with this one dress - so I'll try and find a gold/light brown alternative in terms of shoes and bag - hoping to tie in different colors so my coord doesn't look like a mess. Thank you for the advice.
>>
>>10124732
I feel like black shoes and a black bag would work (like mary janes) but only if you have dark hair. I feel like brown wouldn't work too well.
>>
>>10124561
This definitely needs a large eye-catching brooch or necklace accessory, and one of those large old school Peter pan collars.
>>
Sorry for being a newb, but my jsk + otks + shoes are black and my blouse + headdress are white, so do I need to wear a black or a white petti?
It's a fully black old school dress, if that helps.
Also, how do I make sure that it's the correct lenght? Measure the skirt part of the dress or…? And what about width/poofiness? I don't want it to be too much.
>>
Which shoes for this JSK and headpiece? Pink, red, white, brown black? Accessory suggestions? This is my first coord.

After much deliberation over these past few months (years), I decided that if I ever wanted to wear lolita fashion I should just go for it. I originally was just going to buy off wunderwelt or taobao (was looking at souffle song), but I saw that the Sweetie Gingham Border JSK and headbow were still available on BTSSB's website and decided to just go for it. I got it in the pink colorway.

Now, I need to complete my first coord. I have this blouse (https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-3%2F4-puff-sleeve-blouse-jw-anderson-417569.html?dwvar_417569_color=COL00&cgid=women-jw-anderson) in white from UNIQLO, is it too simple? I also don't want to overshadow the JSK with something too embellished, or should I go for it?

I am also looking at the Charm Ribbon (https://cottoncandyfeet.com/?product=charm-ribbon) shoes from Cotton Candy Feet, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the pink is similar enough or if it's too different to pass. Any other shoe recommendations? Any other color/style recommendations are welcome too.

Additionally I am getting a petticoat from MeLikesTea (https://melikestea.com/category/petticoats/), but I am unsure of which one would suit the JSK best. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance
>>
>>10125184
Personally, that blouse is much too simple to work with a JSK like this - if you waint a fail safe coord, i'd pick a lolita specific white blouse, pink shoes (those cotton candy feet triple ribbon ones are cute!), and some white lace top OTKs or something. It's simple but would look cute.

any bell petti would suit this, just depends on your preferences. If i remember correctly, MLT has a guide on there site to help you find which petti would suit you best!
>>
>>10125177
If your wardrobe is mostly dark colors/black, a black petticoat would be fine. If you have (or will have) some light colored pieces though, it's better to go with a white petti, since a dark petticoat might show through light fabric and that's not a good look.
It's generally best to get a petticoat that's about 5-8cm shorter than your skirt. Many lolita skirts (and skirt portions on JSKs/OPs) are around 50cm long, sometimes a bit shorter; and many standard length lolita petticoats are about 42-45cm long, so it's not too difficult to match pettis to main pieces unless said main pieces are of unusual length, i.e. shorter or longer than usual.
As for poofiness, it depends a lot on the style you're wearing and the cut of your main piece, as some pieces have more fabric than others and can accommodate bigger pettis, while more mature styles call for moderate poof even if the main piece has a lot of fabric.
It's kind of a lot to explain in words, honestly, I can try explaining a bit better if that was unclear but I hope it helps.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice.

For the sake of playing it safe and acquiring basic pieces I can use for future coords, would you recommend staying in line with how Baby styled the JSK on their model? Only difference might be accessories and the pink CCF shoes instead of the red ones in their photo.

I'm absolutely up for making it more fun, but I also want a base wardrobe.
>>
>>10125398
For your 1st coord, yes stick with the basics/fundamentals. Can't go wrong with a longsleeve peter pan collar blouse.
>>
anyone ever buy from tiny garden? this cotton/linen blouse looks really cute but i've received polyester monstrosities before
>>
>>10124274
are you kidding me? Just pair it with a decent black blouse and a gothic jacket like from Miho Matsuda or smth and get black and red rose accessories and otks, and some vogs or AatP heels or something and this would be fine as a gothic coord.
>>
>>10125398
Yes, a white btssb blouse with peter pan collar is much more useful than an uniqlo blouse without lace
>>
I’m having problems with coording this one piece, I feel too naked wearing it without a blouse or bolero, but it looks weird with most of the blouses or outerwear I try it with. Also, I can’t find a lot of pictures of it being coorded for inspiration.
If anyone has any pictures or sugestions to share I would feel very grateful, it’s too pretty to stay in my closet without being worn.
>>
>>10125852
I own one. The quality is not bad, it looks like the pic, but the sleeves are like, massive. they don't grip my wrist at all and kinda just hang down. I wouldn't recommend it for that reason.
>>
What shoes do I possibly wear with this? I'm thinking simple light pink tea parties because I don't think trying to match the colors would a) look good because it will be too samey and b) they'll be impossible to find
>>
>>10126038
If you're going to do light pink, make sure to balance it out by adding other pink accessories and whatnot. Honestly, I wouldn't do pink at all, but that's your choice.
>>
>>10126038
You'd do better to either match the mauve/dark pink or blue of the dress than any type of pink like >>10126106 said.

I just got my dd and want to wear it out for the weekend to celebrate st patty's day, as it's the only green dress I now own. Being the only green dress, I have no tights that really match it, save for solid black ones. I'm totally colour-matching impaired, would these kindaaa work? (They a bit fade when worn) Or should I stick to solid black tights?

Also have a stupid question: My AA ultra-violent bell petti sits really weird when I wear it with this dress, it's super frumpy-looking. Secret laboratory is light chiffon so I know it's a contributing factor to bumpy-ness but it's HORRIBLY clumpy looking - no amount of redistributing poof fixes this. The petti is new and on its own holds its shape really well, except while worn, what am I doing wrong?
>>
i’m wearing this sunday and i’m not sure how to bring in more white to make the shoes match...i have shoes that match better but they’re more casual
>>
>>10126038
White? There are some white details on the dress.
>>
>>10126980
I think the shoes are fine, not a huge fan of the nightgown, it make the whole coordinate feel crowded, if that makes sense. I'd replace it with a blouse. also some white, lace top socks would be nice, you could go for a shiro type look.Your neck is a bit bare as well, so a necklace would be nice.
>>
>>10126989
thanks I’ll definitely get a necklace! it’s an op so i’m a bit wary of wearing a blouse with it, so I went with the peignoir and I tried lacy socks with the gold tights underneath and i wasn’t sure about it, i’ll try it without the tights!
>>
>>10126990
ah, its an op? I thought it was a jsk. A bolero would work wonders here, then. Just a switch in socks & a bolero would be good. I think a necklace is a good idea but not really necessary. That being said, the dress is really nice, so I hope you can come up with something you like.
>>
>>10126980
>>10126989
Agreed, i would definitely ditch the peignoir. it never looks good with lolita. The longer length throws off the silhouette and makes it look dumpy. wear a bolero, or if you're keen to sew, turn your peignoirs into short bedjackets, they fit with lolita much better.
>>
>>10125998
Get one of those taobao crop top blouses. Some of them are very plain and have almost no collar so it will sit nicely inside the dress while giving you sleeves.

Alternatively, get a cute bolero that also doesn't have a collar and wear it on top, with the collar of the dress on top of it.
>>
>>10125998
Based Angelica, one of my first dds (now happily owned).
With outerwear, you definitely need to wear the collar on the outside, so a plain cardi or bolero looks better than a frilly lolita one. Here’s Fanny wearing hers with a cardi.
>>
>>10126992
thank you! hopefully I can find a bolero in time!

Even though it's a long way away, I want to have Valak inspired coord for halloween. (Asking this shit now gives me time to buy shit)
I already have pic related as the main coord set.
For the make up, I was thinking of using some black matte lipstick, darker eyeshadow, and silvery highlighter with a more subdued blush color.
But there are a couple things I want input on.
-Are there any recommendations on which yellow contacts I should get?
-What color stocking shoe combo should I go with? I was thinking black/black but should I look into stockings with silver crosses on them?
-Should I get a black and silver Rosary?
-Should I get a silver crucifix necklace?
-Should I use my naturally dark brown hair or get something like a white wig to make it more Valak-y?
>>
>>10125998
Found this pic with an airy, high color blouse. I think a wide neck one hidden by the dress color and showing similar sleeves would also be an option.
You could definitely get away with wearing it blouseless as well.

>>10126882
imo solid black would be better than those, you could also check out a normie store to find black tights with a sheer or lace pattern, those are pretty typical.
For the second part, the petti could potentially be too full for the dress? Maybe you could post a pic of how it looks also.

I really am partial to peignoirs haha but thank you, I think i’ll get a bolero for it next time! making it into a bed jacket is a great idea!
>>
>>10126980
Definitely no to the night gown. I might be biased though as I have never seen it look good in lolita. A blouse would be super cute, and maybe add a headdress instead of the bows? I think it would be cuter overall to have a headdress or a single alice bow instead of double bows. Also, maybe some white lace topped socks. I can't tell what color those tights/socks are but they feel kinda misplaced to me here.
>>

How does this look? I'm not sure about the black shoes or the headdress. I've heard that black shoes are fine with anything, but is that true? Any suggestions are appreciated.
>>
>>10128540
black would be fine if you have it in other parts of the coord, i don’t like those shoes though, not cute.
>>
>>10128551
What style of shoe would be better? I've got these ones for daily comfort since I walk a lot but am willing to invest in something cuter for meets.
>>
>>10128540
never go with plain white tights unless it's cold and you need thermal ones. shit always looks boring as hell. Buy some lace top socks and/or peeking bloomers.
The headdress doesn't need to be black. go for a white one or one that matches the dress. The black shoes are fine, but only if you have darker hair so they match.
Lastly, when planning an outfit, make sure to include the rings, bracelets and necklaces you want to wear.
That's all, good luck.
>>
>>10128540
The items you've chosen seem a bit mismatched with the dress style. I think a much better direction would be more classic or country and floral based. Something like either a straw hat or a floral headdress and brown shoes would be more appealing.

So I was just recently posted to the ita thread for an old coord so I wanted to get opinions on my most recent coord that are unbiased. Is there anything I should change or add??
>>
>>10129102
>>10129102
This isn't ita. A lot of the anons on those threads like to post non itas for the hell of it. However I think it's great that you're asking for concrit instead of being butthurt about it.

Most of the coord is fine but instead of solid tights you should get some printed ones or OTKs with pink and yellow. It will tie the whole look together. Some wristciffs won't hurt either.

The biggest problem is really your makeup and the facial expression in the photo. Your eyes are getting completely lost. Look up some lolita makeup tutorials that emphasize the eyes and how to make them bigger. Practice your face and posture in selfies and photos to see what looks best. Don't lift your chin up too much.
>>
>>10129102
>>10129226
I would just put a sticker on my face desu. Don't understand why people spend so much time editing unless it's their hobby.
>>
>>10129226
Yeah I've been getting alot of people telling me to change up my legwear which I'll definitely look into finding patterned tights and etc! And yeaaaah I need to buy some more wristcuffs, I'm thinking of buying off Taobao.

AND YEAH I literally have no idea how to make my face look good, when I smile my cheeks are so big that they cover my eyes but I physically can't smile normally with my mouth close, I've been trying super hard to find good angle my face but it's just so round that it's hard. I should probably start putting stickers over it.
