Ive always loved cold or those withholding affection, Annie is no exception. I think shes strong determined and doesnt take shit from anyone and after finishing the manga I just want her to be happy and free. Can we have a thread for my pie and donut loving waifu?
>>3926084posting what I have
>>3926095last bump for now
>>3926084>calling MY waifu your waifuUnbelievable. Meet me at the plaza at high noon tomorrow. On a more serious note, good taste, seeing a thread for her here is a welcome surprise. I'll be sure to keep it alive with some of my favorite art.
>>3926099figured I would put one up though I dont think it will rival the mikasa one
>>3926236Yeah sadly there's not many Anniefags left, but the ones that remain love her more than enough to make up for it.
>>3926624it funny in aot most people didnt associate with her because she was very cold but I find her attitude appealing and would have wanted her to open up more. I wonder what she would have been like if someone wanted to be friends with her genuinely. Guess it depends on the time of the anime I feel season 1 she would be fat too distracted
>>3926633I feel like Season 1 hurt her characterization considerably, especially for anime-only watchers. To start with, the traning flashback with Eren that first revealed her softer side was cut, despite being a very short and simple scene that worked wonders for humanizing her as an antagonist (I'll never forgive Araki for robbing us of that smile, goddamn). Then came the tunnel scene change, with its horrendously overexaggerated laughing fit, more akin to a cartoon villain's psychotic episode than its intended message - a facade crashing down to reveal bottled-up guilt, anxiety and loneliness, like in the draft provided by Isayama. > I wonder what she would have been like if someone wanted to be friends with her genuinelyThere most likely were characters who did. We know she was on good terms with Eren and trained his ass regularly, else he wouldn't have learned her techniques well enough to use them against the likes of Reiner. There's several panels of her sharing a table with Mina, who might've been kind enough to her to warrant particular attachment, seeing as Annie apologized to her corpse. I'd be surprised if Pieck and Hitch hadn't tried reaching out to her in their warrior squad and MP days respectively. Even so, she was stated to never have had close friendships. The issue was Annie herself. This is a combined result of her cynicism AND active refusal to form emotional bonds with people she knew she could end up killing the next day, for both her own sake and theirs, no matter how lonely she might've been. We know this to be the case ever since she deplored solder Reiner's sociability. This inner strength is a part of her I really love, though it's depressing she had to utilize it in the first place. BR failed as potential companions as well, her relationship with the latter understandably strained to high heaven with all the shit he pulled, and Bert remaining a wallflower who'd never so much as try speaking to her until it was far too late.
>>3926691(cont'd) kek, sorry, I ramble about Annie too much. But yeah, that's why it was adorable to see her, for the first time in her terrible life, finally opening up to people post-crystal. Hitch, Reiner, Armin, and even Mikasa whom she used to call a beast. Part of this was a bit strange narratively, to be fair, and my dislike for Armin as a character sullies the experience, but now I'd rather enjoy little moments that melted my waifufag heart than keep brooding over what went wrong.
>>3926084I know not everybody likes Armin, but I found this artist recently and I wanted to share some of the pics somewhere. I think they're really cute
>>3926691It was frustrating when watching season 1 with my friend. He kept saying she was a bitch and when she ran around killing scouts and twirling that one guy on his odm gear he hated her even more. Then as you said she has her laughing fit which made her seem like a psycho who enjoyed killing and my friend just wanted her to straight up die. I had to hold back spoiling everything they whole time just to show she didnt mean any of it. The one thing that humanized her was the ova which wasnt on funimation sadly. Id say we missed a lot of what made annie a complex person in favour of fighting titans. Even the trost district fight had annie losing for most of the fight despite her kicking erens ass up until the end >>3926851these are cute its nice seeing her with someone even if it cant be me
>>3926963Oh right, the infamous yo-yo scene. It's treated like a damn Counterspell whenever the topic of Annie's motivations is brought up, as I once saw another Anniefag point out lul. True, it's hard to talk about this without spoiling Marley or at least the Marco flashback in S3. I loved her since day one, but prior to those two reveals, even I used to believe she had an undeniable sadistic side to her. You don't start seeing the FT arc in a different light until much later. The OVA is great but likely won't compel people who already hate Annie to watch it, and we both know the anime did a poor job at making her likeable to the average viewer.Yeah, in Trost she is cornered, desperate, and just wants to go home. In contrast to her apparent mercilessness during the expedition, she's visibly distressed over crushed civilians when Eren tossed her into the church. It's the moment when she transitions from intimidating antagonist to troubled teenage girl (literally) driven to the wall.>>3926851I have to admit AA gets a ton of disarmingly cute art, even if I'm not a fan of it. Guess that's to be expected when the most popular ship for both of them becomes canon.
>>3927150Just realized my brain momentarily confused Trost with Stohess for some reason, I think we were referring to the latter.
>>3927150If I remember she twirled that guy around because he said he was going to torture her. Shes clearly conflicted being both forced to kill people and sometimes choosing to let them live like armin. Many times Reiner has to force her to kill like with marco using her desperation to go home against her. shes been thier for 5 years and she wanted to leave day 1 so at that point she was probably was sick of waiting for Reiner to play the long con. Also honestly watching her rip through the scouts was awesome lol giant woman style.
>>3927150dont know something about cold emotionally distant girls does something to me. The tough girl attitude that sometimes gives away to a kiss on the cheek or brushing your hair. The overprotectiveness, im sure annie could take down a mugger or two if we got caught walking together. My favorite part about cold girls is getting in and seeing thier warm side, Annie has that big sister energy despite her being like 5'3" her actions make her taller
>>3927155The way I see it, she might've gone out of her way to be as ruthless as possible after Reiner tore into her for "caring about Paradisians", in order to prove to both him and herself she hadn't gone soft (that scene took place only a month before). Add onto that the locust crushing flashback. It's possible she tried to dissociate from any potential sentiment towards humans in titan form by forcing herself to view them as bugs, which would make the slaughter much easier. Of course, she ultimately failed on both counts when she spared a familiar face aka Armin.>Also honestly watching her rip through the scouts was awesomeRight? Her titan form was breathtaking, both in appearance and its perfect precision and efficiency. Truly a force to be reckoned with. High chance she could've solo'd the capture mission too at some point, if not for the Armin blunder.
>>3927159And yes, she is beyond adorable, her cold exterior drew me in but it wasn't until I saw her smile in the manga that I truly fell in love. Her little moments of appreciation and vulnerability are made all the more meaningful by an otherwise nonchalant demeanor.
>>3927646I think that was annies plans to see them as bugs but it clearly still affected her. I think she tried soloing capturing eren because she was sick of waiting for riener and bert
