Michael Burry made only 489%?

teenagers on biz make more than tripple that, why don't big investment firms ask for adv here?
>>
>>25945026
Try doing it with hundreds of millions
>>
>>25945026
Technically, you’re considered a genius to be able to that.

Most people at max during their lives make 10-50% gains max on investments

A 100% gain is incredible to them
>>
size matters
>>
>>25945026
real-world assets != shitcoin
>>
>>25945052
it's easier to do with hundreds of millions because you can manipulate shit more and also mentally if you lose 90% of it you still probably have a few $m, for us the punishment is waging for another 10 years to replace the losses i.e. retiring at 90 instead of 80.
>>
>>25945026

Shitcoins didn't exist in 2005
>>
>>25945026
liquidity, nigger
price fucking impact
>>
>>25945026
They do lurk here but they don't admit they monitor what autists are getting into, or else all the gate keeper credentialing would be shown to be worthless.
>>
>>25945026
>Why yes Mr. Bergowitz I put 100% of our $1 million dollar mutual fund into GME stock because this guy called coom cat told me it would go to the moon
>What do you mean I'm fired and you're sending me to a mental hospital?
The answer is that even when it works the logic used here to buy shit is so massively divergent from institutional investors that it isn't applicable.
>>
>>25945108
it's not easier lol, you can't just manipulate price and expect everyone to see the value there. if that were true literally everything wouldn't ever stop going up.
>>
>>25945105
>real-world assets
>financial derivatives
Anon, pick one and only fucking one.

then just put in less money? same results

fucking kek i've never seen replies come in this quick, so this is how it feels to accidentally make a good thread
>>
>>25945026
Get in on some pajeet scheme extremely early and leave at the right moment and boom you just made 100x your investment. So when's the interview with forbes coming?
>>
>>25945135

>not listening to coom cat

Rookie mistake. Stay poor
>>
How much longer would it have taken for all of his shorts to become liquidated? A year?
>>
>>25945255
I'd listen to coom cat but the shlomo running your mutual fund wont.
>>
>>25945162
>parsiq
Are you Indian by chance?
>>
I think Barry is based as gell. Look at gamestop. He was a buyer at like 5 bucks. Look at it today. Would love to short Tesla with him and watch his glass eye routine while jamming to metal
>>
>>25945521
nah, german actually. i take it you don't like the coin/project, I'd be interested to know why
>>
/biz/ made +10.000% on LINK, they should seriously make a film about us.
>>
>implying any of these retards actually made this money and doesn't just let it vanish by thinking a +500% paper gain isn't enough to cash out
>>
>>25945026
>Why yes I did take the company's assets and invest them in chainlink token as recommended by Mr. Assblaster
>No sir you don't understand it's the the forth industrial revolution
>Sir we are the link marines
>No I did take my lithium today that's besides the point

It's one thing when you're managing your own money. It's another when you're doing it for others.
>>
>>25945706
i unironically hope this happens
>>
>>25945162
>so this is how it feels to accidentally make a good thread
Lurk more you piece of shit, all the threads you make should be good and get replies because they're interesting and spark good conversation.

>>25945135
The real problem is that "institutional investors" really don't know what they're doing. If you read Fooled By Randomness and that one book Michael Lewis wrote (not the big short) you can see they're just making it up as they go and ripping off stupid rich people. Only a very few (Taleb, Ed Thorpe, Burry, Buffett, Graham) actually know what they're doing with investments.

As for us, the reason we're successful is solely because we're first and the big institutions haven't started putting every shitcoin development project in a walled garden like venture capital did with tech startups. Even though any of us in six figure hell is qualified to be an angel investor, we're not even allowed to at this point for legitimate startups. So here we are, out on the fringe in the mud digging up diamonds and posting memes at each other in the meantime. I'd honestly rather be here than be in a NYC skyscraper working for ***s and pretending to be something I'm not.
>>
>>25946180
>Lurk more you piece of shit
fuck off i barely make threads, last thread i made was shilling prq at 0.008 and 0.01
it almost hit $1 recently

all my threads were 10/10, now i decide to shitpost and shit gets more replies than giving away invaluable information
>>
>>25945026

1. Money managers are not allowed to take risk
2. More money = more risk management required. Getting +10% of 1000 is only $100, getting +10% with 10m is 1m
3. It can take large trades days or even weeks to fill because of liquidity
4. Money managers are rarely allowed to short
5. money managers are required to have certain amounts of alpha and beta, you don’t have complete freedom

Tl;dr you’re literally retarded and I’ll bet 5k you lose everything within two years
>>
>>25946180
just read the rest of your post, sorry for insulting you fren, didn't mean it
>>
>>25945026
Teenagers for the most part do not make 489% on several hundred million dollars.
>>
>>25945706
>>25945819
It'll be called $1000 EOY and they'll steal our memes.

>>25946345
It's okay, I'm extra sensitive right now because I'm sick and tired of seeing thots on the front page and 1 post by this ID bullshit threads. If moderation actually gave a shit about the site anymore they'd be banning faggots who make bad threads even if they don't violate any of the big rules and spend more time deleting bad threads.
>>
>>25945108
it's not easier. that wasn't even his money it was his investors and they fucking hated him for the trade. imagine the brass balls required to put that much of other people's money on the line and if you're wrong you destroy your reputation and lose millions, potentially even end up in lawsuits
way more emotional than throwing a 5k bag at the biz shitcoin of the month
>>
>>25946457
god your posts really left me thinking, assblaser really was a genius
I like larping as a one for being early (no it wasn't luck) but i just trusted in what smarter people than me were saying

biz is a special place, it's just fucking filled with the most vile shit and even worse people
but if you look past it, it's the best place to hang out and discuss everything investing
maybe there is a reason why this became a crypto board.. something like "something something the free market chose the best way to make money"

just wish there were more people like (you)

Everyone here's gotten at least one 50x so it's not hard. But he did it with other people's money, not his own. Imagine being such a chad that you can convince wealthy investors to give you their money and hold through losses into the promised land. We shouldn't compare him to us retards but to Sergey (blessed be his name).

he risked 100s of millions of dollars of other peoples money to short the banks in one of the greatest financial catastrophes in the united states of our recent age and he walked away with 489 percent in traditional finance, yeah im thinking FUCK OFF and BASED
>>
>>25945026
Made 9600% on STA kek burry my dick in your anus michael
>>
It’s a lot harder to get 400% on hundreds of millions of dollars than it is on a 5k account. People here almost rope themselves when they lose 99% of their account on a scam coin or buying weekly calls. Imagine if instead of only losing 5k you lost 300m.
>>
>>25948512

Shorting is also a shitty game. He was right, and because he was right he couldn't let his gains ride because the very people he was shorting were the ones supposed to pay out. He had to cash out or risk not getting anything at all as events continued to transpire.
>>
>>25948314
Not just that, but the fucker took a lot of those losses because the ratings agencies were to scared of downgrading the bonds that THEY KNEW WERE SHIT. All because then Wall Street wouldn't come back to them if they did.
Barry shorted the entire system, and still came out on top.
Blessed be aspergers.

Imagine if you short a 100 mil mc coin with 10 million dollars that has really good fundamentals. It will probably dump a huge amount in price, then the whale can just pick the prices back up - huge sell walls will probably be way below where he sold at this point and he will make a steady 5-10% profit on millions thanks to swingies
>>
>>25953002
Yeah thats how it was before crypto came around.
Penny stocks were the shit version of crypto with even more boomer scams
