I'm the anon who back in February/March rescued 3 bunnies.Now there is a house near the park where I live that has new owners, and their introduced many animals among which are 3 bunnies. A big black bunny, and two smaller ones (white and black/white).Hopefully the gate and fence are well closed and with no holes. The garden overlooks the park, and on the other side is a fairly busy road... man I don't want to see dead animals because of human dumb mistakes.I'll try to take pics to post here. The big black bunny is the cutest :3

I'm envious of people who are able to hold their buns. Mine is affectionate, he'll run up to me and lower his head for scritches and rubs. He flops next to me and seems to enjoy my company but he refuses to be picked up, even if I do it the "proper" ways. Oh well...
Took my bun back to the vet for xrays for his broken hind leg and it didn't heal right. The choices are amputation or putting him down and I don't know what to do I'm a fucking mess. They said he'd be fine for a few years and then he'd start to be in pain with amputation. I don't want to lose him but I also don't want to take away his ability to play like he likes to and put even more stress on him.

As for amputation I have a hard time believing it's a good idea, it seems like it would be too detrimental in terms of him running around and binkying like he wants to. The special care wouldn't be an issue it's just his mobility and happiness and I've seen it can ruin their back over time and cause pain.This was a very small study but the outcomes really don't seem promising. If it were a front leg I would be more hopeful about it as an option.

Love this thread so much! This is my handsome boy Loki, very recently survived a pretty gnarly gastric obstruction. Emergency vet I took him to (only one available at the time) didn’t know anything about rabbits and even recommended euthanasia! Luckily got him in to a great rabbit specialist, since even my local vet wouldn’t do much, who gave him several enemas to get things moving again.
