i hope it works out but i'm worried she might be too much for the other dog. my girl got used to playing with a lab puppy, lab/newfoundland mutt, and golden retriever/malinois mutt at my old place. the dog we met today was a 1 year old dachshund and i can see my dog going too far with her. i'll have to monitor carefully next time we meet.
>>
>>4417122
Of course you need to be careful with smaller dogs, mine used to be more involved in rough housing, but lately has been more of a loner at the dog park, she still likes to meet new dogs occasionally that we run into in public though.

The breeder I got this pup from holds free group training classes every sunday. I was able to go today. Very fun to spend time with 10+ beautiful GSDs. Tuckers him out like nothing else. He refused to go on his usual walk.

The place is cool. It has all the fun ramps, jumps, tubes, and stuff that are in those athletic competitions.

He was just chilling out with me on the couch for like an hour. One of the first times that has ever happened. Got this banger footage during.

Thanks for reading my blog.

He plays a lot with my mom's dog who is around a year older, so he's almost always wiped out on the couch w/me
Any tips on helping with being obsessed with cats? My mom's got two who want nothing to do with him but he's always lasered on them whenever they're around.

Same. It's really satisfying to have him sprint at me from like 100 feet away when I recall him.

I've been focusing on practicing recall when he is in heightened, or diatracted states as well. Still has trouble when he's chasing the chickens, but otherwise he does really well.
>>
>>4417210
That's a good thing to practice, I have the ecollar as insurance though I don't need it often, it's good to have since I live in a leash law area, but I still like to take her on nature walks and that sort of thing without a leash. She usually only ranges about 50ft away before she rubberbands back to me, but her recall is decent at this point anyway.

When we walk out in the field he does exactly that when we walk towards the far side. The past couple times it seemed like he was sprinting back to the gates on our way back, which is why he got so far away. Good test in a safe environment.

Just got a 3 month old puppy from a local shelter a week ago. She is extremely lethargic. Pick her up, she doesnt give a fuck. Put her down, she immediately lays down. Wont even turn her head for toys, treats, anything.

Vet.
>>
Just got back home from weekend trip and found out that the person that was supposed to take care of my dog completely neglected to come in today.
My 25 lb dog somehow got into her treats and 8oz of freeze dried chicken liver and about 11 oz of joint supplement treats and she had horrible diarrhea everywhere and her stomach is really bloated. She was upset when we got back and was worried that I was mad at her about it, which is strange behavior for her. She also wont ring the bell to go out and is trying to hide the fact that she is sick. She seems pretty miserable.
I contacted the vet and the vet said that she is fine, but my dog is terribly bloated and has high velocity diarrhea. I gave her some pure pumpkin puree and water. I am really hoping that she is feeling better tomorrow. Why the fuck cant I trust anyone to do the simple fucking task of watching my dog properly? I am just furious.
>>
>>4417328
After feeding her the pumpkin puree, make her fast for a day (don't feed for 24 hr). Next time leave your animal under the care of someone you trust or know, not a service. Only decent service is a kennel with experienced trainers.
>>
>terrier passed almost a year ago
>she had a good life and died later than vet predicted with CHF
>always got excited to take the medication as little treats
>right up to the last day of her life she was mentally sharp and active, hiding chew toys, walking around and enjoying the sun outside in the fenced yard
>passed away at home in her warm bed and blanket she always loved while family and I were next to her
>burst into tears thinking about her
does the pain ever get duller? i never cried openly in my life before even when sad. everything's just been dull and unimportant since then. the only source of joy is looking at local wildlife or dogs that pass by, and I donated everything I could to the local shelters and rescues.

There are no drawbucks to aussies as long as you avoid merle dogs. Normal looking tri aussies can be cryptic merles and it's dodgy to breed them without genetic testing, and normal looking "yellow merle" puppies can turn out to be double merles when they're deaf later in life.

It’s a baby. Dogs are smart so their babies are a pain in the ass. Basically you need to be keeping it in a little pen and bringing it outside after eating/drinking/activity because it will piss/shit. And then reward them. This goes on until they’re older. If they bite you and it hurts at all, yelp. And give them something safe to gnaw on (with supervision) like a very sturdy rope. I see retriever in it so it’s a guaranteed hungry dumbass.
>>

My dog is so preoccupied with sniffing and exploring that unlike when he was a puppy I cannot get him to play with me anymore when on walks. I think his hormones are steering him a lot, making him look out for female dogs. At home and in the garden he always wants to play, but never on walks.

Any tips on how I can get him motivated and focused for games and play when im outside? It would be so practical to get him to play on walks, also for making him run and exersise but also for training and working on concentration. Ive tried with food and a variety of toys. I jump around and run and stuff to get his attention but hes more interested in sniffing (i really try and definetely look silly). If i get him to do something (get a toy, run around a tree, jump over something etc), its only for 2 or 3 repetitions max. It used to be super easy when he was a puppy. At home I can do 15-20 minute sessions of something no problem. But how do I transilate home training, specifically games, to the outside with its distractions?
>>
>>4417813
Why not let him enjoy his time outside how he wants to
>>
>>4417797
>If they bite you and it hurts at all, yelp
I do that all the time. It how I taught my cat not to bite or scratch. But with the puppy he looks a bit guilty, 2 seconds pass and he does it again.
>I see retriever in it so it’s a guaranteed hungry dumbass
It's half swiss shepherd/mutt. It's mother is really well behaved, no barking, no smells. A very dignified thing. Can't say the same about the father.
>>
>>4417822
Just be consistent. The smarter the adult, the more retarded and obnoxious every life stage before adult. Intelligence is mostly the ability to move past your instincts and be stupid on purpose.
>>
>>4417814
I do. All the time. But certain games are super practical to do on walks on occasion. If I can combine make shift agility or retrieving into walks it saves time, makes hims tired. Plus its good training and improves his attention span when its actually necessary, which is outside (he needs to listen when outside the most, simple as). So if i can do.that with play, that would be simply practical. Im not saying i want to do it for every minute im outside. Problem is hes not very toy driven. Atleast outside.
>>
>>4417829
I meant to say, improvised agility (with trees, fences, traffic signs etc etc)

What sort of breeds should I look into?
I'm moving out and can finally get a dog now, but I have no experience with personally owning one (most of my extended family all have various dogs). I'm a manlet (5'9"/175cm) so I don't want anything huge. I'll have a fenced yard and be able to go to a really big (4000+ac) park on weekends. I think collies are cool but don't think I could keep one adequately stimulated if I don't stay working from home.

The retarded anon who became the dead border collie schizo literally just bought the drug without doing any research about a $150 box of pills. That's his fault. They even sell those drugs at walmart, anyone can get them, but you're meant to bring your dog to the vet before they give them any meds, because some breeds have drug intolerance issues. Would you prescribe yourself a drug because 4chan said so, and then blame 4chan?

idiots also shouldn't recommend any medication which could kill your dog. some people are just too gullible.

damn pre-2020 /dog/ was so comfy, it almost seems like the 2020 isolation eroded everyone's brain and it went to shit after that.
>>
>>4418864
Literally taking a certain kind of purebred dog for a walk can severely injure some breeds because they are so inbed they are made out of health problems. When purebred dogs are involved, so many are fragile fucks because the breeders were focused on "working" rather than the dog living past 5 that it's really on the owner to know what won't cause their inbred mess to explode.

Most dogs won't develop non-functional/non-existent hip sockets if you let them get on the couch. Most dogs won't thrash on the ground and die if you give them a dewormer. If you bought one of those purebreds that's your fault and fuck you for patronizing people who genetically abuse animals.

He is a superb boy, and that is really rude. His drive and ability to sniff out and retrieve his toy is really excellent.

I've been putting his toy in an old amazon package and then I put that in a box that has been folded closed, and then I put that under a blanket. He retrieves his toy within minutes!

Also what kind of person could be so mean to such a cute lil pup?

My late GSD once went on a week-long hunger strike because I ran out of yoghurt to use as a topper. If he wasn't hungry, he'd turn his nose up at everything and anything under the sun, including cheese, hotdogs, shredded chicken, dog roll, and steak.

He's half Shiba Inu, so he's only about 50lbs.

Anyway, I was only skim-reading this thread, missed the question the first time. I personally follow a succession plan and get a new dog roughly every 4-7 years or thereabouts, dependent on my extant dogs.

The thing about getting a second dog is that your established dogs should ideally be reasonably well trained before you take that step, and you need to keep in mind that owning two dogs is inexplicably three times the work of one dog, so you'll need to have the time and energy to put into a second dog.

I mean, the "it's like three dogs" thing is more something I've heard repeated by several sources, it wasn't my own experience.

I'm worked from a flawed data set, personally, though. My late GSD was just a really difficult dog. He had a bad temperament and poor health, so when the second dog came along he was always something of a shadow, an afterthought in the wake of the enormity of that shitty old GSD. Like, I'm not even kidding, keeping him stable cost $15k a year in medication and he was on 21 pills a day, but his quality of life was good so I kept him going. In the end, it wasn't one of his chronic conditions that did him in when he was 13, it was a rapidly-progressing cancer.

My younger GSD + the Akita mix are not equivalent to the amount of work my older GSD required by his lonesome, so my idea of the amount of work any given dog requires has always been skewed. Any singular dog that isn't a full-time job in and of itself is easy as far as I'm concerned.

I got him from a reasonably well-reviewed breeder. It was weird, he seemed to develop just about every problem a GSD can short of things that would actually kill him. Recurring bursitis in both hocks, hip dysplasia in both hips, severe elbow dysplasia in both elbows, grass allergy severe enough he'd chew his feet raw half the year, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, small intestinal dysbiosis, cobalamin deficiency, bacteria pyoderma in both back feet with draining tracts from his knees that lasted 10 months and then cleared up, non-healing perianal fistulas, he went totally deaf when he was about 11. He bit me every day for the first four years I owned him. It was something between a lack of bite inhibition and a game to him, and annoying as shit. He had no food drive to speak of, no toy drive, the only thing he found rewarding was latching onto people's arms. Feeding him was a massive pain because he only ate novel foods, wouldn't touch anything presented to him twice in a row, so I was eventually rotating through five different open bags of food with a different one each meal. Each time I finished a bag, I'd have to get a new brand/flavour, but he couldn't eat anything higher than 4% fibre which eliminates half of all kibbles.

Goddamn, I did love that old dog though. I would've done anything and everything for him, and I'd do it all over again, too. He turned out a real sweet dog once I got him to stop biting me and finally housebroke him. He was two years old before I had him reliably housebroken. My second GSD was 12 weeks old by the time he was reliably housebroken. No matter how consistent I was, he was stubborn as a fucking mule.
>>
>>4419570

Advantages of having two dogs:
>Double the snuggles and love from your furry companions.
>The well-trained older dog can serve as a role model and helper for the new dog, helping them learn how to interact with the world and build confidence.
>A bit morbid, but if one dies you'll have the other one to provide you companion and help grieving.
If you have multiple dogs and one is a hyper fuck and the other is a chill dude, you can go hiking with the hyper fuck and take the chill one with you when going out with friends.

Disadvantages of having two dogs:
>Increased financial expenses, as you will need to budget for two dogs' food, veterinary care, grooming, and other needs.
>Finding someone to watch both dogs can be difficult, and finding one person to watch both or two people where each will watch one can be even harder.
>There is a potential for bad habits to spread between the dogs, so it's important to address any issues quickly.
>If you're unlucky and the two dogs end up not liking each other, they may not entertain/play with each other when you're busy.
>It's a lot harder to move with two dogs and activities as simple as going on a walk are harder with two dogs. If you wanna travel or plan to move around, don't get another dog. But if you're happy with your current living situation and traveling is not important, then ignore this point.

If you let them sleep in your bed, expect to barely have any space for yourself if you have multiple dogs.

Tbh to me it sounds like you really want to get a second dog, and you're already convinced about getting one but you just want some faggots to validate your choices even more, so you won't feel as bad if getting a second dogs ends up being too much work.

I probably will. I was just shit out of luck with my old man. My younger GSD, coming up 4, is in good health, although I did switch breeders to someone I vetted more thoroughly for him. I guess you've always gotta be prepared in the back of your mind for "What if something goes wrong..." but if you let that stop you, you'll just never have a dog at all. >>4419945
Cause it is, it's a very specific bacteria and it only happens in very specific conditions.

Also some breeds have a very low chance of getting pyo in their lifetime. And the number from some of the papers are skewed by shitty owners, my vet has never seen any cases of pyo since she started practicing.
>>
>>4419930
>the surgery is more likely to kill her
You should go to an actual veterinary hospital then. Old dogs dying in surgery is from lazy shit anesthesiologists that always go heavier on the anesthesia than they need to just to be safe, and it's quicker than dosing and then checking for a response. One of those clinic fags almost killed my YOUNG dog for fucks sakes. Never went there again and they said there was nothing they could do about my dog continuously collapsing and being totally out of it with a heart rate struggling to stay high enough... 12 hours later. At a better vet hospital he bounced back after every surgery.
>>
>>4419944
why would semen cause pyo, just let her lick herself clean and her body will eradicate the rest
Dogs would not survive as a species if creampies had decent odds of spawning infection
>>
>>4419947
>very specific conditions
like what? Genuinely asking now, I think surgery is wack as a preventative measure but if there's general things that create environments for that specific bacteria which can be avoided, that's good info to have on hand
>>
>>4419951
It's something that could only happen if the bitch or dog was not fertile enough to start a pregnancy. Infertile semen causes pyo because it doesn't start the pregnancy process that increases blood flow to the uterus. A "cold" uterus, especially an old one, just (tries to) expel anything in there, but can't because the uterine lining hasn't been shed in a decade, and then closes up with a bacterial culture medium and inevitably, bacteria, all in a thickened organ that receives less attention from the immune system. As an 11 year old virgin, it's possible the uterus is so fucked up they will never conceive and any mating will drastically increase their pyo risk from 25% to 50-70%.

Dogs evolved to get pregnant at least once every couple years for their entire life. They don't shed the uterine otherwise. Cats have the same issue, but way worse because they are extremely prolific breeders (2-4 litters a year vs dogs 1 to 2). I believe breed differences come from some primitive and large breeds only having 1 litter a year so reproductive disorders are slower to come on. At 11 there's no way your dog is safely, happily having puppies even though you're definitely selecting for lifespan so just spay them. At least go halfway with an ovary sparing spay. The uterus is a ticking timebomb.
>>
>>4419952
It's not "very specific", it's pretty much any bacteria capable of causing infection, and an old uterus with a thickened or cystic lining, since it can not expel its contents and the thickened cystic tissue hampers immune activity. Hyper-fertile breeds are most prone to it because they have more heat cycles that thicken the uterus each go around. The more hormonally dramatic their heats are the more severe the changes are with each heat and the higher their risk of pyometra.

A fruitless mating means the dog then has a culture medium inside of them. Moisture with sugars and nutrients that were meant to keep sperm alive. And they can't expel it, so the inevitably bacteria will grow in there and cause an infected uterus without the immune system being able to do shit about it. Google "pyometra uterus" to get an idea of what happens.

Full or ovary sparing spay, now. The longer you wait the worse all of your options get. Spays to fix pyo are far more likely to kill your dog than a regular surgery. Imagine rolling a four sided die every time your dog goes into heat, that says "LIVE-LIVE-LIVE-DIE". That's what you're doing.
>>
>>4419952
It's kinda hard to take preventive measures, except letting them have puppies every 3-4 years and if you engage in bedroom activities, make sure you're both very clean.

The issue is caused by the thickening of the uterine wall after each cycle that didn't result in pregnancy, since they don't shed it like humans do + immune system is inhibited in that area during estrus so it doesn't kill the "foreign material" aka cum (but it also doesn't kill the bacteria...). Random uterine polyps can also increase this risk, but again that's not something you can easily prevent.

Failed matings also increase the risks, so if you wanna breed your dog at and older age, go for artificial breeding in a sterile environment.

>>4419957
No it's not any kind of bacteria, almost every case of pyo is caused by e.coli

And the 25% statistic you keep quoting is still fucking bullshit.
>>
>>4419957

>And the 25% statistic you keep quoting is still fucking bullshit.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23279535/
n all breeds, the overall proportion of the bitches that developed disease by 10 years of age was for pyometra 19%, MTs 13%, and either or both of two diseases 30%.

https://vethelpdirect.com/vetblog/2020/10/06/is-my-dog-at-risk-of-a-pyometra/
Pyometra literally means ‘pus in the uterus’. It occurs in about 25% of unspayed female dogs before the age of 10.
Is Pyometra a Life or Death Situation?
Yes.

19 or 25%.... bullshit factor is low.

A dog that is not being bred should have a full or ovary sparing spay (depending on breed-specific MT/OC/HD/various autoimmune and cancer risk)

I'm not totally defending that retarded collie fag but the anon who killed his dog was 100% at fault for giving his dog weird drugs without doing research or being a vet, and 100% a retard judging by his subsequent schizo zoofag meltdown. Maybe that dog was actually saved from a worse fate.

>>4419968
Or people who know that pyo is a risk, but have a breed that is also at risk of bone and joint/autoimmune/cancer issues if they're spayed, like any physically active dog, huskies, many collie breeds, healthier shepherds ie mals, etc

Anon, fuck your dog if you will, but do not gaslight yourself into thinking that it's a human.
A dog is a dog, and it sees, feels, and processes the world through the lenses of a dog.
One needs to keep that in mind and treat it with respect, remembering that it's its own being but that it also depends on you.
It is the owner that chooses where it goes, what it does, what it eats, if it goes to the vet, etc. The dog might have the ability to agree or disagree in its own way, but the power is absolutely in your hands. It is not a relationship between equals, at all.
It is under your custody.
>>
>>4420009
To be fair, this is how over half the world treats women, and what he’s talking about is more common among third worlders than not.
>>
>>4420009
why argue with the amoral? morals are not learned or prescribed like ethics. evil and good are innate. you are a hylic or you are a psychic. not everyone can be saved - the belief that they can has only encouraged evil to hide and propagate itself.
>>
>>4420010
>and what he’s talking about is more common among third worlders than not.
Treating a dog like a human?
I live in Brazil and I've never witnessed that.
Dogs tend to be treated like dogs, at least around here where I'm from.
At most I've seen people treating them like they are babies, which is hardly what I'd call "treated like a human".
Unless you mean the fucking, if so, that's more people using the animals for their own pleasure. Very common in less urbanized area.
I'm pretty sure my dad partook of some donkey pussy in his adolescence, given his rural background.

>>4420013
I'm expecting a discussion, so I guess it's less arguing and more preaching.
And my own life experiences lead me to believe that "evil and good are innate" is not such a binary thing as your statement makes it sound like.
People are born with certain proclivities and bents, yes, but they can both choose and be influenced towards or away those proclivities. A person born without an affinity for something can also be influenced by external factors to go a certain way.
Context matters a lot for humans. I guess it has something to do with how adaptable we are/our brain plasticity or something, I don't know.

> not everyone can be saved
This, on the other hand, I agree. Sometimes a person is just too far gone.
Where is that line? I have no idea.
I guess that's yet another one of life's challenges.
>>

>I'm expecting a discussion
I'm NOT expecting a discussion*

I mean any fucking of them. Whether it’s romantic or masturbation, i don’t think the ratio differs from men who fuck women. Men are men. However the animals clearly aren’t set up for it and it’s degenerate behavior that should be wiped from the face of the earth. Like eating each others shit clearly isn’t a good thing for out species either, so it’s natural to abhor it even if they aren’t hurting anyone and make sure to cook the shit first. Survival of the fittest makes no exceptions.
>>
>>4419991
Yeah they do, but society brainwashed you to believe that they don't. Why do you think males hump everything and some females flag their owner constantly when in heat? Animals aren't your fucking babies, they're fully functional mammals with sexual hormones and shit.

>>4420009

>>4420029
>However the animals clearly aren’t set up for it and it’s degenerate behavior that should be wiped from the face of the earth.
So we starting with farmer, show breeding, and industrial farmers? How is me jerking my dog off any different than a farmer doing so? Or my fingering a female vs a farmer inseminating a female and then stimulating them so they're "more fertile"?
>>
>>4420051
Morality is about instincts and darwinian fitness. So yeah it’s different. You will die out or be purged, either or.
>>
>>4420065

Zoos have been a thing since the start of humanity, I don't think we'll ever die out, unless we reach singularity. There will always be people interested in animals and farmers, and there will always be one weird one that gets curious about their animals.

And pet ownership is not dying our anytime soon, and in a society where the rate loneliness is going up exponentialy, the ammount of zoos will also go up, just like the amount of faggots an trannies.

I'm fostering an elderly relative's dog until we can find the dog a new owner. My relative has dementia and probably doesn't even know the dog exists. Today he escaped and 10 minutes later he came back unscathed. Should I just let him wander like a stray cat? He probably has fun and it's not like he's a danger to anyone, he's a very tiny Chihuahua mutt thing with no aggression in him. Am I crazy? This seems like a fine idea. He's old as hell and if he dies out there, I don't know it just doesn't seem like a big deal. Maybe it's a better death than waiting for his heart disease to kill him. Will I get in trouble if I do this? I think he's chipped.

>>
>>4420124
yup, there is no difference heat wise between an intact dog or one which got an OSS.
Because of this, vets have to be very careful not to shorten the vaginal canal, cause male dogs may still breed them and if the vaginal canal is shortened, it could lead to a rupture.

so if you're a dogfucker, OSS is the perfect procedure. removes the risk of a fatal infection if you're not careful, but the vaginal canal will not atrophy due to the periodical stimulation by the hormones, and the dog will still have sexual urges.
>>
>>4420124
also contrary to popular incel opinion, the cervix is never penetrated during mating in dogs and humans, hence the uterus is not needed (afaik in pigs the corkscrew penis can penetrate the cervix, and with horse the flare is perfectly shaped so that when pushed against the cervix, it's able to inject the sperm directly into the uterus)

There's nothing to fix about them. Dogs are perfect the way nature created them (except pitbulls).

And if nature doesn't want us to do cross-species, why are dog vulvas so aesthetically pleasing while humans have flappy meats with a vaginal canal which has 10% of the muscles a dog or horse has.

I really like her yellow eyes.

My gsd pulls like a mofo as well. He knows heel and does a perfect job in familiar and low distraction environments. He will do left turns, right turns, and stop sits really well.

When he wants to sniff something, go somewhere, or chase something he is a stubborn and determined puller. Using a harness with a front loop works okay, but I hate walking him with one because leash management is annoying.

I think the idea is to keep practicing it a lot, and when they become adult dogs they'll gain that extra focus needed to stay heeled well.

The other idea I've heard, but haven't figured out yet is to make heeling a fun game for them because it's usually such a boring thing for them to do.

Hello all, I’m considering getting a sixish month old hound dog that I gave to the pound that was a dump at my work.

they don't actually that's a myth you can google that they're just as healthy as any other colored german shepherd its just a recessive masking gene
also:
"In fact, the founder of the German Shepherd as a recognized breed, Max Von Stephanitz rebuked this claim himself. In his book The German Shepherd Dog in Word and Picture, published in 1923, he states: “The coloring of the dog has no significance whatsoever for service.”

your trainer doesn't know what they're talking about then when it comes to white shepherds. it's an outdated idea that they're unhealthy because in SOME OTHER BREEDS the white gene is associated with deafness and blindness, thats not the case in GSDs

here's a website explaining the genetics behind white german shepherds. it's no different that why your dog is black
their only health issues is the same and standards like hip and elbow dysplasia

If you want to solve the pulling issue you need to use corrective punishments, not nagging discomfort. Even if you buy a pinch collar it will only work temporarily if you don't use it properly, however you can fix leash pulling in just a few weeks of focused loose leash walking training. My girl is only 10 months old, she doesn't pull on the leash any more because I don't tolerate it, we're both better off for it because i don't have to deal with the pulling any more and she doesn't need to wear the prong collar, it's a win win situation.
>>
>>4420627
What age did you feel comfortable starting the prong at? Any resources you can share on the methods you used?

No, if the vet prescribed it and you give them once a year, then it's fine.

But some dogs have a genetic mutation which makes bravecto/ivermectin/etc toxic for them.

The other issue is if you constantly give them bravecto, have you ever wondered why bravecto lasts 3 months vs the alternatives which only last 1 month? It's cause bravecto has 3x the dosage of the competitors, and if you give them constantly during the year, it will slowly kill the liver.

Why is it the first thing a dog abuser always goes to is "your dog must be small", post your dogs here on this dogfucker forum, maybe they can be rent free in a dogfuckers mind like eevee

Your brain or body must be small if you had to resort to animal torture because a 50-70 pound german shepherd pulling was dangerous. Remember you are not required to walk your dog every day immediately. You can and should train them on a long lead on your own property first.

Why is it so many people can train their dogs not to pull but a german shepherd owner can't. Are german shepherds stupid or are their owners short tempered and expecting total slavery immediately?

A big dog is over 80-100lbs. Nothing posted in this thread should be able to make a walk dangerous especially not an out of shape huskoid that’s 50% lard. And the point stands, if your dog doesn’t behave on walks stop walking them and start training them, correctly, WITHOUT abuse.
>>
>>4420658
Just watch a few videos on how to use a prong collar to stop leash pulling, it's a pretty simple concept
>dog pulls
>leash correction
>Leash goes slack
>dog gets treat/praise

You need to have a basic foundation of training so your dog understands YES and NO.
>>4420775
A dog shouldn't be in public unless they can be calm, attentive and polite. Leash pulling is also the beginning of many bad behaviors including leash aggression. If you don't train your dog you are just lazy and inconsiderate.

A retard like you would ruin any good dog

You can train any dog without ever touching a “gangster” collar AKA prong collar. Positive works, so does an e collar, but never set ti be painful. There is never any reason to hurt a dog. It’s always bad GSD/BM owners who do this and then they cope later…

From my experience I have found that to properly train a dog it needs to be done in many different places/scenarios/differing distractions, and when the dog is in different levels of excitement as well.

Having your dog come to you in your house 100% of the time does not guarantee that it will come to you when it's chasing a bird or something like that.

Isn't that fairly obvious?

This kangaroo is going to be around 90-100lbs when he stops growing.

How can your dog come to you outside if they can not come to you in the house first? On a walk if they can't do it in your yard? How will your dog understand leash pressure at a store, if they didn't understand it in your driveway first? It takes less than a week to teach them a heel in every situation. You can not just walk your dog and start hurting them every time you're annoyed.

Prong collars are useless, and a form of animal abuse. They were created to hurt dogs, by people who want to hurt dogs, because a regular collar can not hurt them enough when they yank on the leash like they are trying to break their dogs neck. All you are doing is saying "just hit your dog if it does not listen". Stupid! You're lucky your dog is desperate to please if you did that. I have seen gentle natured dogs ruined forever, they never showed their owners love and some smarter dogs were even afraid of the leash. Once you RUIN a dog like that, you are done, a better owner than you has to build that dog back up to get their confidence and love back.

Bud, have you heard of a strawman before?

I don't use a prong on my dog for the 8th time!

I wonder how many people went home with the wrong dog that day

>Lassie, come!

>>4420869
You could walk into this house and leave with a husky and they wouldn't notice or care

And neither would the owners
>>
>>4420891
That would be an absolute nightmare. I would superglue my leash to my hand and weld it shut on the dog hah.

Sorry for your loss. Occasionally I'll watch or read really sad things about dogs and just start tearing up and then I go and hug and kiss my dog 100 times.

I know this is a little corny, but I believe when they say it is better to have loved and lost then to have not loved at all that it's very true.

Why do so many huskies look retarded
>>
>>4420911
Dogs are goofy and husks have expressive eyes. Notice the eyeliner some wear.

Looks like it's in dire need of some de-shedding tools.

>>4420933
Ohhh that's just its winter coat. It drops it eventually. You basically get a second dog with all the hair it sheds. Hell, I bet you could make enough yarn to knit a sweater!

Does the one drop rule apply for Pitbulls? You think it's ok to adopt a puppy which seems to possibly be 1/4 or 1/8th Pitbull?

Dog fur isn't really the best to spin thread out of. Even the under wool from huskies have to be mixed with some sheeps wool when you card it. Then it will be easier to spin a thread and make some yarn.

I'm also from europe and i can walk into any veterinary pharmacy and ask for bravecto and they won't ask for a prescription.

> is it race based or can any type of dog have it?
I think it's mostly dogs like collies and aussies which can be affected by that mutation

>>4420869
My dream is to have that many huskies in my life, so each day I can sleep with a different one.

Interesting. I think when I start collecting my dog's hair I will do felting with it. Felting is quite satisfying woth all the stabbing you do, and the low stress nature of felted crafts.
>>
>>4420963
Haha, I can se how all the needle stabbing can be therapeutic. Spinning can be rather relaxing too, but carding is the best when you're already angry.
Felted slippers and mittens are real nice. I mostly leave the fur out in the woods for the birds to build nests out of, but I gather some of it in bags too. It's so much. Maybe I'll build a new husky with it when Whiteboi goes off to run on the eternal tundra.
>>
>>4420962
I guess it depends on where in Europe you're at. Here in my country you need a prescription for almost anything, whether you're animal or human.

the chihuahua's head is turned upwards, what you see as snout is an ear, and the dark "ear" is the snout
>>
>>4420976
The little felted portraits are such a nice thing to remember a good pet with. Some of the artists are extremely skilled at it.

E collar isn't positive, it's just a more versatile version of the prong collar.
>>
>>4421076
E collars also have a higher potential for abuse. With a prong your arm will eventually get tired. You can press a button 1000 times in a day very easily.

>come home during lunch to walk dog
>see garbage everywhere plus a huge chunk of his dog food eaten
>left dog food container on top of tall trash bin bc it's heavy
>dog normally never touches it
>beat the crap out of dog and drag him around showing him all the trash and what he's done
>beat him some more
>clean everything
>throw trash bin and food bin at him
>put him in his punishment corner
>leave
>come back
>he hasn't budged and nothing has been touched
sigh, he even yelped in pain, I've never had to beat him like this before.

Why do people severely abuse their dog for things that are clearly 100% their own fault?

I'm sure those kind of people are just waiting and hoping for their dog to fuck up so they can feel power over something weaker than them. Sick.
>>
I wonder if an e collar would feel good on your dick.
>>
>>4421147
I think that's a matter of taste.

Anyone elses dog prefer to sleep outside?
My dog prefers to sleep on the couch balcony in -10-16c weather, is this normal? She goes into my bedroom whenever she see me get ready for bed, but for just napping she prefers the icy outdoors and im a little concerned she'll hurt herself, I keep a window open so she can hop in whenever she wants but that's not an ideal solution either since its's cold as fuck outside.
It's a lil collie if that helps.

Use a wireless rectal thermometer to monitor her body temps.
>>
Have two puppies. One is sick, the other is not. Vet said to keep them completely separate for 10 days.

I have been keeping one outside and one inside, but the one inside keeps shitting and pissing on my floors. I put down pads, she ignores and goes to shit in the kitchen. I take her outside to the yard, she stands by my feet until we go inside, and proceeds to piss on my bedroom floor.

How do I potty train this little bitch if she refuses to use pads or do her business while leashed up?
>>
>>4421289
Wait it out with her outside and heavily reward her when she finally does the business.
>>
>>4421289
beat her

Those are really cute. Looks like real dogs. Not like those haunted cakes. I think I'll save a couple of bags of that thick under coat when spring comes.
>>
The dog I was going to get puppies from had a seizure this morning
She's ok apparently but now I'm concerned about epilepsy or other hereditary things
>>
>beat dog
