Pongo Riddle:

What's the difference between a monkey and an orangutan?
Answer:

A monkey has a tail which comes out from the back, while the orangutan's tail comes out from the front!

The schoolbus featured in the bottom left rectagon is in fact a picture of baby apes from IAR Ketapang (the producers who brought you Budi:tm: ).

To be fair it's hard to miss little Rickina with her scar.
And you never see Rickina without her best friend Rocky, so it's pretty easy to spot him there (just to her left).
Another immediately obvious face is Gunung (front left). You may recognize him from such films as "your mom's facebook page."
The rest take some work. Little Temon (far right middle) is sporting his distinctive frown. No relation to the Temon they just rescued at Nyaru Menteng.
Rickina's other friend Onyo (likewise not to be confused with Onyer) front and center.
Pongos have very distinct faces.

I agree without a single iota of irony. Something about flange that completes the aesthetic of an orangutan, it’s satisfying to look at, like a golden ratio or a perfect cube.

An rich incel that works out is still an autistic retard who doesn't know how to talk to ladies, so I imagine it would be similar for a pongo that you give fake flanges. Useless without the social capabilities that lead to naturally obtaining the flanges in the first place. At heart he would still be a beta male.
>>
>>4220244
Animals socialize, retard. Especially ones so closely related to us. There are introverted Orangutans and betas that aren't socially dominant, hence why they don't have flanges and giving them flanges wouldn't change their mental state or testosterone.
>>
>>4220213
>>4217931
flanges are just big cheeks. even some overweight females grow pseudoflanges.
it's the engorged throat sac, aka the nutte sac, that enables the flangechad to sing his powerful ballad to scare away flangelets and make the ladytangs drip like a sieve.
flangechads also possess a distinct musk.
Unfortunately for your fraud ape, as with many things, rape is the only answer.
>>
>>4214328
Why did he die
>>
>>4219143
Trigger discipline, woodworking, driving, boating. Is there anything they can't do?
>>
>>4220244
Animals care if you have it together too. There's a fish that gets girls by being a good artist.
And there's many animals that look for strength. Being tough in the wild is an indication of a good standing and a decent provider. A strong manatee is like a man making 90k a year.
Animals have similar standards, but they're manifest in different ways. Do not turn your nose up on the orangutan.

Serious fucking question, fellow pongo lovers: Do pongos rape people? Having a debate with dudes over on /pol/ and they're saying they rape people.
>>>/pol/386899788
They have cited this book by some guy called Galdikas who apparently studied pongos extensively, where he claims he witnessed a pongo on human rape, and that the natives said they do it all the time. It's not true, is it pongobros? Pongos don't rape people, right? Is it just some fantastic nonsense to sell more books?

such a shame about that Fossey chap tho

>>
>>4240002
Birute Galdikas is a woman, not a man. She was (and is) one of the three primatologists sent out by Louis Leakey (Leakey's Angels) to study each respective great ape genus, the other two being Jane Goodall (who studied and still studies chimpanzees) and Dian Fossey (who studied gorillas, but was murdered due to her conservation efforts clashing with locals engaging in illegal activity). She still studies orangutans at Camp Leakey to this very day, and is widely considered the foremost authority on orangutans alive today, if not ever.
I know about that particular report, and I would definitely take her word for it, she doesn't strike me as the type of person who would make something like that up. However, I don't think it was ever reported by natives that orangutans rape human women "all the time", but rather that it is known to happen.
I did some serious digging, and you might find this passage from Claudius Aelianus' (also known as just Aelian) work On the Nature of Animals from ~200 AD interesting, it's probably the earliest known reference to orangutans (and generally indeed accepted as referring to such) that exists, and seems to indicate that there is truth to the claim Galdikas makes:
http://www.attalus.org/translate/animals15.html
>[...] and apes, some white, some the deepest black [most likely referring to gibbons]: the reddish ones, which are too fond of women, they do not introduce into their towns, but if they can contrive somehow to spring upon them, they put them to death, because they detest them as adulterers.
Rome is known to have had trading relations with India and Southeast Asia, so it wouldn't be surprising that such knowledge would find its way into the Roman empire. I also know that orangutans used to range beyond Borneo and Sumatra millions of years ago, but I'm not sure when exactly or how fast that range receded, so perhaps there were still some orangutans in present-day mainland Malaysia at that point, someone else should know.
>>
>>4240303
I actually did find another report where a guy who was with Galdikas for some period reported a pongo named Apollo Bob trying to rape a woman. I just couldn't believe these gentle creatures would try to rape humans. I was mistaken, apparently. I figured she made it up (I'm not familiar with primatologists, my knowledge is limited and that's why I asked you guys) to sell more books. Like the "it was real in my mind" type of shit. Others have corroborated her claim, so I now find it plausible.
>>
>>4240004
That orangutan apparently used to live in captivity, so that might have messed up its brain.

Dogs maul people sometimes, cats eat their owners face sometimes, horses kick sometimes. No animal is infallible, we can't characterize pongos as human rapists. Every bunch has a few bad apples, even the pongo.

If a pongo saw me holding a banana and then walked over to me and started prying it from my hands so he could eat it, I wouldn't call that aggression or violence. It's just seeing what it likes and taking it. It doesn't want to hurt you. But a human sees this behavior as aggression because we have this whole concept of property rights, but such made up constructs are of no concern to pongos.

Likewise a pongo that is committing rape just wants to get off. It doesn't really understand the concept of bodily autonomy and sexual consent. So this is not really aggression. And if you think about it, being raped is objectively just a minor inconvenience assuming there's no other violence. It's only humans that make a big deal about rape because our minds are possessed by these dumb spooks like bodily autonomy, so a human feels as though their life is over if they get raped. This is of course ridiculous. But pongos are more enlightened than us and understand that raping or getting raped is not the end of the world.

Human females should just embrace being raped by pongos. Set aside your unnatural human ideas about consent and accept the strong flangechad seed. The weak should submit to the strong.

Imagine letting yourself get robbed by an orangutan. We’ve all seen the clip of the orangutan grabbing a monkey that took a banana out of its mouth. The fact that the orang reacted that way shows that it has a concept of property rights and bodily autonomy.

pongofrens, how do I distinguish between bornean and sumatran orangutan
>>
>>4250877
extremely oversimplified
Bornean: red-brown to dull orange hair, thinner hair growth on the face, flanges tend to extend outwards and form a dip at the forehead
Sumatran: deep orange to strawberry blonde hair, hairier faces and flanges, flanges tend to be more circular and droop down rather than outwards
Tapanuli: tough to say since we don't have much photography on them, but from what I've seen they seem to have even lighter hair and have more facial hair than the Sumatran Orangutan, with darker skin and flatter faces
>>
>>4250877

from anecdotal accounts I've heard from zookeepers and those involved in primate care, Sumatran Orangutans tend to be more sociable than Borneans and do better in captive 'family' groups

We already knew that but it's nice to see it written in such a plain manner. I'm pretty sick of the whole ''chimps are smart'' meme. There's simply more research on them because they're more common. Also people automatically think they're smart because they're closely related to humans.

If we're being autistic that's not quite accurate, but you can pretty easily tell what they mean
looking at the relative cross coalescence rate (RCCR) of gene flow, it is extremely likely that bornean orangutans split from tapanuli orangutans first, and that sumatran orangutans split from tapanuli orangutans later
That is, despite living in Sumatra, tapanuli orangs are genetically closer to bornean orangs. And so genetically different from either that the only parsimonious explanation is that they were there first.
This would suggest that tapanuli orangutans probably resemble their mainland asian ancestors (pongos used to be all over asia, including vietnam...etc) more closely than the other two, newer species.
>>
>>4263477
Why would the common ancestor be tapenuli and not bornean?
>>
why do so many Orang-utans have pattern baldness? it's worse than human baldness holy shit
>>
>>4263494
Almost impossible, even when we don't account for geography.
If Bornean orangs were the common ancestor, that would be model 2B in this image. The original Tapanuli paper puts the posterior odds of Bornean orangs coming first at literally 0 based on the genetic loci tested, and that's not even considering the prior probability that they'd have no reasonable way to jump from mainland Asia to Borneo.
>>
>>4263477
>>4263505
Also shit, I just realized I'm a gay retard who said borneans split first. They split LATER, that's why they're more similar to Tapanuli. Sumatrans split first, that's why they're more different.
>>
>name of the genus, Pongo, comes from a 16th-century account by Andrew Battel, an English sailor held prisoner by the Portuguese in Angola, which describes two anthropoid "monsters" named Pongo and Engeco. He is now believed to have been describing gorillas, but in the 18th century, the terms orangutan and pongo were used for all great apes. French naturalist Bernard Germain de Lacépède used the term Pongo for the genus in 1799.
In an alternate universe this would be an Engeco general
