this little shit bullied her way into my apartment when it was below 0 outside several months ago and never left
she's a bit saucy but very sweet overall, no tags and chip is just registered to a local shelter, and based on everything feels like she had problems with her adoptive owners and was abandoned

Anons, I have a cat carrier next to my private house - street cats that come to us to eat sometimes rest there.
So today there are 3 kittens lying there. They are not blind, they are quite big and well-fed, but not at the age when they constantly run around.

Where the hell did they come from??
did the people brought them? I don’t think that those who went so much made their way to private territory and stuck the kittens there. WHERE THEY FROM?
Maybe their mother dragged them from somewhere in her teeth?
>>
>>4170306
Put the carrier back where it was and lurk. If they have a mom, she'll come back sooner or later.
If mom doesn't show up for more than 6-7 hours, they might have been put there by someone.
>>
>>4170316
damn i have to do that.
PS:
i heard meowing when the neighbour was cutting the grass and making lots of noise with it. otherwise i would never even think of looking inside.
>>
>>4170317
Maybe a mom that alerted by the noise put them inside what looked like a valid replacement for a shelter.
The exact same thing happened two days ago, suddenly I saw the usual stray cat plus her kittens on my side after a guy came to cut the grass in the garden of the building next to mine.
Just lie in wait for now.
>>
>>4170323
oh i see. Yeah i will wait for their mom then
if she wont come back after 7 hours i'll have to look after them?
i really want that black kitten tho...or the front one - he's the most active
>>
>>4170326
Maybe 7 hours is too long and they could be hungry and start panicking, count 5 hours from the moment you noticed them. Also according to your plans and duties.
Taking care of them means feeding them mainly kitten milk formula and a bit of kitten food (they look not older than 7 weeks, so they're not weaned yet), and taking them to the vet for the routine checkup.
Good luck, post updates.
>>
>>4170335
damn i didn't expect those things...And i'm poor so vet is out of this list for now. But i will keep feeding them properly - i had many kittens back then when i had a cat and she kept bringing them
>>
>>4169447
why he look grumpy anon
>>
>>4170337
Well, thank you for doing what you can.
Do you have a no-kill shelter where you live? Any volunteer from non-profit organizations that operate in your area who can help for adoptions later on (as well as spaying/neutering)? Just to make sure you're not flooded with more kittens in the future...

And...seems that i can't call her Max because i thought this is a guy and called him max - she often came to us.

Or she might just brought them here over the night

also kittens became angry. They hisss and "grrrrrr" now.
When it will be good to take 1 kitten for myself? when they will start walking out of the box?

the black one is all black except black/white face which is a top tier cat-skin-roll for me
>>
>>4170413
Call her Max-chan lol.
Maybe she just moved them today. I'm happy they're not abandoned kittens.
>>
>>4170419
>When it will be good to take 1 kitten for myself?
Once they're weaned, so when they reach 11-12 weeks of age.
Basically when you see the mom spending less and less time than you with the kittens with each passing day, it is safe to separate them.

>when they will start walking out of the box?
They probably already do, when mom calls them and has to feed them.

I was in the last thread with the 8 days old kitten. Apparently everything is probably fine but idk, don't trust all vets sadly etc.
Can't say I've seen him poop, but on the other hand I've tried a lot of stuff to stimulate him for n°2, even giving him a warm water bath and massaging while his butt was underwater. Pisses fine, doesn't scream in pain or anything, has a round belly, soft when he hasn't eaten and firm when he just fed. Heard cases of other people with kitten shitting less often on formula, without any constipation issue or anything, but idk ti's always stressful
Ill post pics when I can

Here are the pics, can't say if he looks bloated or if it's normal, because I heard that young kitten usually have a round belly.
Apart from the fact that I don't know when he last shat, he appears fine and has been growing a lot, he opened his eyes quite early and can crawl and climb. He sleeps and purrs and reacts to light and stuff.

>>
>>4170743
True, I have to say that this one looks like he wants to live. We're careful with him but he's been more cooperative than I could have expected from an abandonned kitten. It's miraculous that he survived for his first week but apparently the first week is the hardest. I guess I ought to be optimistic

>>4170748
Same, I don't think he's bloated but I'm no expert either. He's been growing a lot faster than expected as he opened fully his eyes when he was like 5 days old which is very early, he's active and crawls a lot when awake, tries to drink from my fingers, eats a lot, pees alright (not dehydrated), etc. Don't think he'd be constipated as his previous shit had soft serve consistency and his diet hasn't changed at all. Still, nothing certain but man is it stressful working with a kitten.

I've had a cat for about 2 years, got him when he was a kitten mostly because u was lonely during covid. What's crazy is when I first got him we got along great, and I started working again and didn't see him as much, but recently I got laid off. In the past few months I've spent a lot more time with him, and I don't know of the toxo has gotten to my brain, but the bond is so much stronger. I love the little fucker to death, outside of cat antics he's very well behaved and social. Whenever I come home he scurries over to see me and meows until I pick him up then he purrs and gets scritches. He sleeps with me nearly every night and if he doesnt he's sleeping on my jacket I lay out because he likes keeping on it. Its just crazy. He gives me something to interact with and love, your trolls when I look at him, and just answers me and does his thing. If you told me 2 years go I would love the furball like I do I wouldn't have believed you. A part of me wonders if this is what having a kid is like. Just loving them to death and your interactions and all that. Love you kitty.

I try posting again this question since it didn´t receive an answer

So, my cat was diagnosed with IBD in February. He is a european 11 years old, he had gut problems the last year that we thought it was just gastritis, I went to vet and treated with anti-inflamatory drugs and cortisone. This February we put him on a special diet for IBD cats which seems to works since the last time he did steroid was over two months ago. This happened because he lost a bit of weight (now it's normal) and puked 2-3 times in a day. He eats and he plays with the other cats.

Although, sometimes, he pukes (~1 times every 1-2 weeks) and a bit of diarrhea (like cottage cheese) every 3-4 poop. Is it normal? My vet is telling me he doesn't have inflammation anymore, though the IBD can't be cured at all. I will bring my cat to my vet May 20th for the monthly IBD check, the last month it went good without giving him any steroid shot, antibiotics and such.

Update: This morning he puked white foam without food and furballs. He ate normally yesterday his prescription and grain-free tuna. After the vomit he ate again normally. Today I even tried to give him boiled beef which he liked so much during the last year gastritis. I'll update with more info, please help me.
>>
>>4170805
Alright, so I'm taking care of him for a part of today, and at his second feeding I noticed that he had small poop stains on his tail and one of his leg, very few though and no trace of shit that I have noticed in his clothes. But I don't think he had those on the first feeding and I gave him a butt bath yesterday anyways so he def started clean.
I hope I'm not just doing mental gymnastics but I guess everything is fine then. For the record, while it's said to stimulate the kitten's bowel, this one kinda poops on his own sometimes, I guess because of all the soft things around him he's bound to scratch his butt against something giving him the signal to go. Thing is it's hard to find evidence when there's so much stuff, but I guess that everything is fine, will confirm if he does it again today.
>>

Small update.
1) kittens are so cute - i took them, and looked at them. They are ADORABLEEEEEEE oh my gooood my heart was cleaned from all kinds of crap just by holding them
2) catmom don't mind that - when i was holding a kitten in my hands - she returned and just sat and looked at me. I put the kitten back and she entered the box to feed them.
3) of of the kittens (the most active one) crawled out of the box and started eating/sniffing cat food that was on the plate near that box. When i approached-he crawled back lol.

that means those kittens were definitely brought by Maxine over the night from somewhere. Somehow she thought that this will be a safe place for them

Can cat tails break during birth?
I've adopted two kittens almost two years ago, and the female has a broken tail.
The story they've told me is that it happened during birth.
Can that happen?
>>
I think my cat is blind in one eye. It started a couple of weeks ago when her left eye started reddening and then went all cloudy. My vet gave me some eyedrops to give her but while the redness is clearing up she doesn’t really react to anything on that side of her fov. They though it might have been fiv, leukemia or fip but she’s come up negative on all counts so that’s something I guess.

A small update from today's vet.
My cat did well on the physical examination, however doing the monthly ultrasound to his belly the intestine is getting a bit more thick, which means he probably has a bit of inflammation due to IBD (which for now it's still confirmed). He took cortisone as 3 months ago. My cat is ok now, I'll look forward to keeping you update. Thank you so much!

I've known a cat with a crooked tail from birth so yeah it's possible, and he was perfectly fine with it too.
>>
>>4172165
My last cat had a short crooked tail twisted up into a question mark. Had it since birth along with a littermate.
I did research on it and if the mother cat has a calcium deficiency while gestating the tails of the kittens sometimes don't develop properly.
If you felt his tail you could feel all the vertebra crunched and bunched up.
Of course my cat was really sensitive to over stimulation, but half of his tail couldn't move, so there was no warning like most cats before he freaked out so it was like playing with fire petting him.

the cat dancer with the felt string, its the best cat toy ive ever found for my cats in like 20 years

the fishing rod with the little wriggly worms on the end is a close second, but the downside is the little worms dont last long if your cat has claws and plays rough (though they're cheap to buy more). but good to mix things up with though as you can move the little worm very fast and it wriggles in an enticing way

but the dancer though it lasts for ages and its honestly impressive how much cats like them

I’ll bring it up when I visit the vet tomorrow to discuss her latest ultrasound results. It’s not responding to light though which worries me but I’ve been told that it’s a slow healing process. Her fever has cleared up and she’s eating and drinking like normal.

I think my cat is dying. I know this isn't a vet, but they're all closed near me. He wanted out two days ago, so I put him out and left a bowl of food and water, which he never touched. He finally showed up on the porch again half an hour ago and was just laying there meowing at me and wouldn't do much else. I carried him in and tried to give him his favorite treats, he won't touch them. I put him on my bed and he's just laying there relaxing, picrel. he shakes a bit when i'm touching him and feels colder than usual.

Is it all over bros? he's only 10, what the fuck

Back with the newborn from last thread, he's now nearing 2 weeks old. My friend is a little worried because he has an eye that appears a tiny bit less open than the other.
I'm not speaking of a huge difference, like it's not halfway closed or even near that, it's like 1mm more closed than the other, you can notice it by paying a little attention to it. It was equally open this morning. Cat isn't screaming in pain or anything, no discharge, no cloudiness, no swelling.
I basically told her to watch if it worsens or not because right now it doesn't seem like much. For the record, his eyes opened extremely early when he was 4 days old.
Picrel is him but you can't see it on that pic.
My personal guess is it's most likely nothing and it's safer to monitor and see if it worsens.
>>
I had a dream that my cat was half its normal size for some reason. It's already on the smaller side to begin with, but it was weird seeing it kitten-sized again in a dream.

How can you determine its sex when it is just 2 weeks old? The fur looks like that of a calico cat, maybe it's a female.
>>
Cat mom separated 2 of her kittens for the 3rd one, they are sleeping like 20-30 meters away from each other but I saw her taking care of all three, just now she was playing with the one left alone, the other two are sleeping under pots.
Why is she doing this, should I be worried?

I say him because he's a lil' buddy and it fits right now let's say. It'll obviously change when we'll be able to actually see.

The wild ancestor of the cat was a desert animal. They have a higher internal body temperature than we do, and really they find a comfortable room temperature for us to be a little bit on the chilly side. Its a big reason why cats can be cuddly, they want your warmth.

When my cat had to get his dick cut off, he had to wear a cone for a month or so to prevent him from licking the sutures. It was absolute hell. He would get shit all over it from digging around in the litter box, and some days I'd wake up to find he somehow got the cone off, and his lower half was bleeding because he'd been licking at it.

I have a momma cat and 8 week old kittens and she still lets them nurse, they have food and water and eat plenty of it, they just still drink milk sometimes, is that ok and is there any potential for malnutrition for the mother if they keep nursing?
>>
>>4175017
Bro all you gotta do is feed it a piece of cheese and that will cool it right down.
>>
>>4176100
He did for the first few days. But he got compliments from the vet for healing so well. So he just got a naked butt now. I'm sorry to hear about your kitty!
>>
>>4176105
But they don't ONLY drink milk, from what I understood, right? Milk alone is not nutritional enough for kittens that start being weaned, they also crave solid food while still drinking from mommy.
Mom will stop producing milk anyway at some point so don't worry. Past the 12th week a kitten is basically weaned.
Get them specific kitten food btw.
>>
>>4176105
>potential for malnutrition for the mother if they keep nursing?
Mothers milk has everything you need in it.
Momma will start weaning them when their teeth start coming in.
I think my kitten was weaned too early because he always tries to suckle my ear. It was cute when he was little but now he'll take the skin off. Can't imagine how rough that would be on the cat's teats.
>>
>>4174896
Today:
Mom moved the three kittens behind a small shed that is in front of a street which is also the main access to my building, of course there are cars and people who might endanger their life.
I'm gonna wait until tomorrow and see what I can do, I hope she decides to move them again back to the usual place.
>>
>>4176179

You can do that in an apartment.
The trick is to get some cat furniture so they have some verticality.
If you're even a little bit handy its easy enough to make with scrap lumber, carpet squares, some twine, and some nails/screws/staples.
Couple of months ago some anon was showing off a cat tree he made out of a big branch from his back yard.
The most important thing to remember if you do this is the more stable the base is the more likely the cats will use it.

What is my cat's fucking problem with pizza boxes?
It's been a long shitty couple of months at work, my car has been in the shop all week and I'm out of groceries. I found out I got my promotion today, and decided I'd just get a pizza and a six pack and chill out.
I forgot that my cat has problem with pizza boxes. He will claw at them, try to get underneath them, if I try to open it he will pounce on the lid and close it. When I show him whats inside he doesn't care.
He just will not leave a box of pizza alone. I have to put it on top of my refrigerator to keep it out of his reach.
He doesn't react like this to anything else.
He's been a great cat as long as I've had him, except for when he is in 5 miles of a pizza box and I have to stop myself from throwing him out a window.
Sorry. Just wanted to vent.

>>
Have suspected it for a while but I can now confirm my cat overeats a ton. Puked this morning from eating too much food. How much should I ration her? She's 5-1/2 years old, 2 half cups a day or something else?
>>
Sometimes my cat throws up, but not like a hairball puke, he'll randomly puke like he's not expecting it, sometimes over his paws even as he's laying on them. It's not frequent, like once in every couple weeks maybe. Should I be concerned?
>>
>>4178014
Puked from eating too much... or eating too fast? Some pets can throw up after finishing the meal when they swallow the food quickly. So first off be sure which one it is.
You calculate age and weight to get the correct daily dose of food, there are online charts to help, or just check the food package (reduce the ration by a teaspoon because the numbers are exaggerated). Remember that dry food is high calories and high carbs and mixed with other ingredients, and wet is higher in proteins and has more water (helps in cats that are overweight).

>>4178262
Could be actual hairballs that struggle to come out? Give him cat grass once or twice a week.

How can I train my cat sit in my lap and chill?

She's was a skinny feral kitten I eventually domesticated. Her name is Cleo.
She's still a bit aloof and shy, but I think she does try to express her affection and gratitude pretty hard. Like following me everywhere, even being less interested in food than my company when I know she's hungry. I can snap my fingers or point and make her jump high on the table and such. And she always seeks my company.

When I first started feeding her, the next day she brought me a dead rat that was almost as big as her.
I did appreciate the gesture, it was very sweet. And we've been really close since then.
She however does not like a few things, I'm assuming because she wasn't socialized as a kitten propely. She used to dislike if I picked her up, but eventually managed to get her used to that.(just not for too long)
I'm not allowed to make sure she's comfortable while transporting that way though. Gotta let her hang like a sack of potatoes lol.
Also, she doesn't like to climb into my lap, even though she loves being petted. And if she's uncomfortable she let's out the claws. She's never scratched me intentionally, I know she'd never wanna hurt me. But she does. I don't know if she's just not aware? Or. I tried wearing jeans but even then it's not good. She likes the warmth I think but always wants to leave.

Any tips? I wanna cuddle with my cat :(
>>
>>4178452
That's a little sad but I can live with that as long as he's happy. I've never had any problem to bond with animals very quickly, and I'd love to see him grown up.
Thanks mate
>>
>>4178595
Might not be possible, even my domestic cat doesn't want to lay on me sometimes. His favorite times are when it's cold, I'm wearing comfy pants like fleece, and I'm sitting somewhere easily available with plenty of space around (e.g. a couch, not a computer chair). Then he will 100% come up to me and lay down. You could always try bribing her with treats too.

Food attracts cats. If you don't want cats around, you should ignore them and stop giving food. I know it's hard but there's no other way.
Second option would be grabbing both cats and taking to a safe place like a shelter, or finding good-willing people who want to adopt them.
Third option is saving some money to get them both fixed, so they won't reproduce and you keep them as sorta-your cats.
Also, my theory is that the mom could possibly be in that phase where even if she has stopped nursing the kitten, the mother/offspring bond hasn't worn off yet.
It's a very cute young cat btw.

Try offer out hand a few inches in front of his face and slowly move towards him.
Give him the chance to advance towards it with a play bite or a head bump.
You don't want to get them in the habit of thinking your hand is a toy though.
Try getting a plush dog toy that is close to the cat in size, and when he starts getting feisty use that thing to displace that aggression.
You could also try a cheap work glove, or one of those sponge gloves for washing a car (its a mitt that goes over your hand and is covered in fur).
Something that protects your hand from getting chewed up.
If your cat didn't spend enough time with its litter mates then they wont learn the proper bite and claw discipline, and can't tell when they get too rough, which means it is up to you if you don't want a psycho cat.
Also be aware some cats have a shorter fuse than others, and can easily get over stimulated when they are being pet. You can try rocking them, or bouncing them into the cushion gently instead of petting you. They like the contact and a little bit of pressure is reassuring (think of a bunch of cats sleeping together in a big pile).

Reminds me of my little guy. Looks about 4 months old. Once a kitten gets to a certain age their mom chucks them out and starts treating them like any other cat unless they're in a social environment like a home or cat colony.
She taught him how to hunt, and how to scam gullible humans for food, now he's on his own to fulfill his cat destiny.
You can call animal control, most places don't bother putting stray cats in pounds anymore. They just neuter them, give them their shits, clip the tip of an ear, and then release them where they were found.
A cat established in its territory does a better job of keeping other cats out than animal control can.
Now you have a stray you can feed and pet without worrying about rabies.

My cat came from a cramped shelter where it was like one or two litter boxes to about about 12 other semi-feral cats at any given time. When I brought him home, I put out a litterbox with fresh litter and he was rolling around in it and having a blast. I'm assuming it's because he had to smell other cats pee pee poo poo and that was the first time he'd ever smelt fresh litter. Now everytime I change his litter and put fresh litter in his box, he has a little rolly box party because he's thankful to have a clean box to use.

Someone for the love of God, please tell me what treats to buy for a really picky cat. I have a 3 year old short hair who constantly whines and bitches at me for treats, screaming at me, waking me in the middle of then night MEOW MEOW MEOW TREATS TREATS TREATS, and I know he's yelling for treats because in the past that's the only thing that shuts him up. The problem is that he's an incredibly picky eater who only wants one particular brand of treats, Temptations, but I've stopped buying those because they're horrendously unhealthy and cause fucking kidney failure. But he wont eat any other kind! He just wants those. He's even gone so far as to jump into my trash just to drag out an empty tub of Temptations. I don't want to poison my cat with garbage treats, but he's fucking addicted and nothing else appeals to him. I've tried almost every other kind I can find, please tell me there's some magic brand of cat treats I don't know about yet that this greedy brat will actually eat.

I just googled the brand a while back and found a million websites saying this brand is linked to a ton of health issues like kidney failure and renal failure, and the company just sweeps it all under the rug and keeps selling it. The ingredients are apparently all crap, so I guess it's like feeding your cat the equivalent of deep fried mcdonalds and lard. From the way he goes fucking crazy for it I wouldn't be surprised if the main ingredient is heroin, he's a damn junkie for this stuff.

So I'm learned something today. See, I have a brush that I've been hitting my rescues coats with, but today I got a new toy. An undercoat rake and a top coat rake. So today, when I go to groom my rescues, I introduce them to the rake. The majority of them aren't a fan, but tolerate it. One named Maggy absoluted despised it. However, that's not the reason I'm posting here. Olivia, one of our younger rescues, absolutely adored it. She's a Maine Coon. Fucking christ, I lost half a damn cat today. It just wouldn't stop coming and coming. She's purring up a storm, jumping into my hands and arms, and just having a ball while the outside looks like it's a snow storm. I had to have gotten at least like a dozen handfuls of hair out and she no longer looks like a giant fluffball. The worst part comes from the fact that she then decided that her hair was the perfect bed and flopped on it and refused to get off the damn thing when I tried to sweep it. I ended up having to pull out the damn hair dryer just to get all the hair up, and I'm pretty sure my work jeans are never going to be the same again. Anyway, if you don't own an undercoat rake, get one. They're like 15 bucks but goddamn, do they work.

Please tell me how you made kittens appear. I have been trying to get cats to want to nest in my backyard so I can see kittens. I started leaving out food and water recently. Even sprinkled catnip near the foods. They're eating the food and hanging out here but I suspect they go fuck off somewhere else in the day. I have a bunch of bushes lining my backyard along the fence and a shed they could hide under. I hope a cat comes here to birth her kittens so I can listen to them meow.

Need advice along with these two.

My neighborhood takes care of strays, cats get let out here regularly.
Most are feral.

About a week ago I noticed a new boy. Has a collar.
Dropped here because people know we build them shelters and feed them

But he has no fight in him.
He won't eat with the group.
He'll only eat while I pet him.
He won't sleep with the group.
He'll only sleep in the bed I made him on my back porch.

I contacted a rescue, apparently there's a wait.
Going a bit /x/ here,
But I feel this wonderful boy came into my life for a reason.
I haven't cried in years, but thinking of how scared, alone, lost, and yet still loving he is...
It ruined me.
It made me think of me.
The times I was discarded and lost.

TL:DR
for the blog post, I trail off.
Anyway, does anyone else believe he came into my life for a reason? Because I haven't felt anything like this in years.

And should I be wary of any disease or sickness before I get him to a vet?
Pic of my cats for replies

We're all strays in this life. If you're in position to give more to this new boy cat, you know that you have the power to save him and to rewrite the balance of his life's story. Take him in, but have him tested for FIV and feline leukemia. Treat him for parasites and isolate him from your indoor cats for a few weeks.

The volunteers agreed to give them a shelter, as long as I take care of the mom's spaying myself and I help with finding a home to the kittens.

Or the small towns.
(imo)

My small town is like 2 square miles situated about 10 miles away from a major city.

I used to live innawoods on the outskirts of a city, prefer this small town DESU.
City living was so draining. Even worse when you need to drive ten miles out on horrible roads that get ignored by the city, my street was never plowed and I drive a sports car (yes I'm dumb)
Ideally I want to buy a farmhouse, but I'm a burger so most of my life was
OLD THING PAID
BUY NEW THING

As long as you're happy though.
Take care of strays if you ever see them, I think most metro areas are capture and kill for cats because they swear cats are a vector for rabies. DUMB.
(Despite my absolute terror of rabies)

When I say city. I mean suburbs. Not high rises. It's nog free and I can get most anywhere I like by bicycle without having to interact with cars much which is rare for a city in the USA. I have markets where I can get fresh meat and any veggies/fruits that I don't grow in my backyard within a mile. I can also get to more of the typical suburban shit like supermarkets, restaurants, costco, etc without leaving town. Best part is I can be on top of a ridge within 5 minute bike ride from my front door or the top of a mountain within a 15 mile bike ride.

As for strays. I see two that hangout in front of my house but they seem to like my neighbors waste bin which he keeps in front of his house. One of those cats comes into my backyard and eats the catfood or drinks the water I leave out sometimes. There's another cat that hangs out like right in front of my bedroom window. They only come into the backyard sporadically. Aside from food and water I don't know how else to make the backyard more welcoming to them. I have a bunch of trees and bushes for them to hide under as well as a shed they can hide under.

Any suggestions on a style or type of fountain for a cat? She drinks okay from a metal dish but she also jumps up on the sink when I'm going to the bathroom and wants me to turn on the sink to drink from it, so I figure I might as well get something to solve that issue.

I like him, and I like that red-orange shade on his head.
I've known people with cats that lived in apartments, had a way less active life than yours, and somehow reached +20 years of age.
To maintain a healthy lifestyle 1. you don't have to be a cheapskate when it comes to good quality food 2. you have to allow the cat to release energy through play and physical activity 3. more frequent visits to the vet when cat enters the senior phase.

Update: the volunteers from the organization I contacted are FULL of kittens and pregnant moms; we agreed that I could have taken the kittens over there in the week-end but the plans changed overnight.
This is all due to owners who don't fix their pets, people who surrender their pets or abandonments, it's what they pointed out, and now they're at full capacity.
This is all so distressing.

Is it okay to take a cat that's used to being able to come-and-go in and out-doors as she pleases, and restrict her to being an indoor cat? I don't have any personal problem with someone having an outdoor, indoor, or both cat in general, but I feel like it's mean to make her an indoor cat when she's already used to being able to go out whenever she likes.
>>
>>4182920
How old is this cat? If she has lived a long time as an outdoor cat it might be difficult to re-adapt as indoor-only. It sounds like this cat really likes you for some reason though so maybe she'll also like the house full of your smell, and thanks to your company she won't miss the outside.
I'd say it's worth trying to adopt her. In case it doesn't work, you can always take her back to your friend's house.
Mind you, you have to be patient and let the cat adjust to the new home, she'd probably be very nervous and disoriented for a while.
>>
>>4182942
She's only about three. I think she's people-averse because first the first two years of her life, she was surrounded by screaming children that wanted to fuck with her constantly (friend's parent's house). Cats seem to just like me in general. Don't know why.

I mean in a sense I kind of understand where you're coming from, but even leaving aside my personal feelings on the matter, I'd like to think at least I give a shit and try, and there's no guarantee that whoever else gets the cat (if someone will even adopt a 10 year old cat) will do a better job than I have. And then the cat has to go through the trauma of getting stuck at a shelter and maybe rehoming at this age, and that's assuming I can even find a place I can be 100% certain won't just euthanize it since they can't find someone to adopt...

Obviously if it was between that and me giving up the cat, I would give up the cat. That's why I came to ask the question in the first place... If the people at the shelter are competent, they'll follow the adoption process with reliability to make sure the cat goes to a responsible family.

Who knows.
Mine will nuzzle my foot until I pick it up, crawl under it, and sit there until I step on him, at which point he starts purring and writhing in joy.

What sort of places do cats like to set up the nest for their kittens outside?

Of course they tend to choose hidden and quiet places, when possible.
From my personal experience: amidst plants/bushes, in shady and sheltered/low-traffic areas, behind rocks or solid objects (e.g. plant pots stacked against a wall), big and somewhat deep holes on a concrete floor.

Pretty much sounds like my backyard. Unfortunately I go back there daily to water the plants. That'll probably scare a cat mum off.
