why are they so cute bros?
>>4147781ACABALL COPS ARE BUNS
fuck bunnies, mischievous little creatures, who thought they'd make good pets?
>>4147781yep.that bunny is king
I'm getting my first purebred Netherland dwarf in 2 weeks. I always wanted a bunny, and now that I live on my own and have space for one, I can get one. I'm planning on showing her at rabbit shows here in Sweden.
bnuuy
how strong bond can bunny create towards human?considering they are prey animal, i fear they will feel scared from me
>>4150189You must be excited. Keep the cute pics coming
>>4150189>I'm planning on showing her at rabbit showsjust enjoy the bun, you colossal faggot
>>4150432rabbits can get obsessed with you
>>4150432>>4150189Buns do best when bonded with another bun (mf pair or ff pair). If they don't have a bun friend then they are probably going to bond to you, and you're probably not going to live side by side all day everyday with your rabbit.
>>4152155>probably going to bond to you, and you're probably not going to live side by side all day everyday with your rabbit.please tell me this is not true..I was a NEET and I was with my bun 24/7 for 10 years, never had her in a cage and she always fallowed me around the house, every time I went to the bathroom she waited for me outside at the door, when I had to leave the house she stood by the door till I got home, when I finally got a job after 10 years and only came home once a week, she started to rarely eat and got really weak and died after 2 months.I thought it was coincidence because she was old.Was it my fault? ;_; wtf man
>>4152517
>>4147783
>>4154596i will take 5
>>4152155I know. I'm planning on getting a second bunny right after this one is neutered. I don't want to have 2 unuttered rabbits simultaneously.
my bun is fucking gone, one minute he was there the next she wasn't, disappeared without a trace. i am fucking devastated, are there any city predators that can take out a rabbit without any chance for struggle? i didn't even hear anything and there haven't been any free roaming cats in this area in a long while.
>>4157104could have been a car or plane that scared it. When I take my bun outside he sometimes sees the big hawks and runs under a car. how long has it been?
I love bunny rabbits:)
New bunny won't bond with our current, what do? This is the second rabbit we've tried
>>4157104Check under everything. My bun loves to try to get into dark nooks and crannies. But I'm very sorry if it's gone and run off.
How come my rabbit keeps making noises that sounds like he's sad? He especially makes these noises when he's cleaning himself. The noises sound like sad whimpers, like he's crying. Sometimes, I grab him and give him a hug even though buns don't enjoy it.
Is my rabbit fat? He doesn't usually look this puffy.
>>4158171Here's him a few years ago. How time flies.
>>4158171He's a cutie
>>4154596I would like to tip him extra for each one as well
>>4158166my bun make sort of a grunt noise when he's cleaning himself similar to the noise he makes when he's scared
>>4158171Fat fuck. Unlimited hay doesn't mean actually eat all the hay.
>>4152155Can they bond with cats? I've been hoping to adopt a cat and a rabbit when I move out, but if they wouldn't take kindly to a different animal I'll just get two rabbits.
A friend introduced me to someone who owned a pair. Their hind feet were basically dyed yellow from droppings and the main living area where the cage was reeked of rabbit feces. Are all of them like this or was it just that the owner is terrible?I hear rodents in general smell bad.
>>4160437>Their hind feet were basically dyed yellow from droppingsfrom pee>area where the cage was reeked of rabbit feces.it was probably pee you smelled >was it just that the owner is terriblesounds like a bad owner. did the rabbits have a litter box? was it cleaned out regularly? how big was the cage? were they both in there at the same time?If they had a litterbox and was cleaned out regularly it really shouldn't smell
>>4160437It should not be like that, they were lazy with the litter boxes which should be cleaned frequently (about every other day). Rabbits also start making nest like things in the litter boxes if given energy time which probably contributes to the problem.
>>4160173Not recommended. Same as dogs. Ot at very least don't leave them together unsupervised, because the instincts in cat or dog can kick in anytime ant it will hurt the bun.
My bun is 9 years old and still very sweet and active. I'm hoping he'll still be with me for a long time
Can domestic European bunnies make friends with wild North American bunnies or should they be kept apart?
>>4162194>do american rabbits really?
>>4162194I would keep them apart. America has that rabbit hemorrhagic virus going around but vaccine distribution has been rather spotty
>>4157104God anon, I am so sorry, has he come back? Foxes and some birds of prey can take it, make sure to try to leave out food and water, I hope he comes back
>>4152517i mean if ur bun was 10 years old thats pretty much the end of their life expectancy anyway its not ur fault, thats just natural ageing unfortunately

Bunny?
My girlfriend has two bunnies, but sadly one of them isn't very social and seems to be completely terrified of me and her. I have tried feeding her special snacks from my hand and seeing if she'll let me pet her, but it almost seems like she is traumatized by something. I feel really bad because I want to be able to spend quality time with them.

What do people think about hunting wild rabbits suffering from Myxomatosis? Is it merciful or should we try to treat them?
Did you know that next to primates, rabbits are one of our closest living relatives?
>>4179336Thought this was a neat fact, figured I'd find an article talking about fossils or some other archeaology type shit.>It possesses greater acceptability as a laboratory mammal...s a d
>>4176255It can take a lot to get a rabbit to trust. They know they are prey and they don't want to be ate, so try to always interact with them through that context. Make yourself smaller and don't focus intently on them can help. Rabbit vision is also a factor because they have poor depth perception and aren't great at seeing things close where we are trying to interact with them. When you pet the rabbit it can accidentally surprise them or be interpreted as trying to dominate.

>>4147781my rabbit kicks and screams when I pick her up, and now i notice she's weak in her back legs. She squeals when i pet her back and she'll thrash her legs... She's starting to drag the back feet..
>>4161369My bun bonded with a border collie. It was perfect because his instincts were to move the bun around the house. Never even a nip.
>>4169008UUUU
>>4174118In my experience, girl bunnies bite less and usually on accident.
>>4182887Kek
>>4182884huh, my girl bunny is very nippy and sassy when she's not in a cuddly mood. both boy bunnies I've owned were hyperactive and not as cuddly, but very reluctant to bite.
>>4182160how did a spayed rabbit get pregnant?
>>4182877vet now
>>4180896Fun but still overrated/10, and I'm old as shit and played it when it came out.
>>4176255>>4179851So the primary way to socialize with practically any animal is to spend time with it. Specifically in the case of that bun, spend time in an enclosed space where you are doing absolutely nothing to it. Fuck around on your laptop or read a book while you're in the enclosure. Even if the bun sniffs you, don't pet. Unless it's literally shoving its head under your hand (which is how my two buns let me know they want to be pet; and if I ignore further they start to bite or thump), leave it alone. Let it explore. Do this for a long ass time. Literally hours a day. Some animals will take weeks or even months of this. Some will adapt in days.If it starts sleeping around you, you've won and you can pet and probably a lot more. You could also try taking a nap in the same enclosed space as long as you're not a retard sleeper, e.g. you don't flail around while sleeping or waking.By enclosed space I mean something that's no larger than a queen/king sized bed. And if you're brave enough to risk pee and poop on your bed, your bed is a pretty good space (it still has to be enclosed though because obviously they'll just jump off otherwise).
>>4183535and my Flemish Giant
>>4183538But sadly, she died in February. We don't know why, but we think it's because her parents were sibling. Farmer here don't really care i suppose. So we took a new one, but this on is a pure race, and we know his parents are not sibling.
how much their personality/inteligence differ depending on breed?

I have two bunnies right now, one is big and one is small. The problem is that the small rabbit is weirdly aggressive. I keep them separate for this reason, but when I do take down the barrier Small will hide away and then suddenly run out and attacks Large. This is not friendly play, she latches on and grunts and is clearly doing her best to do damage. Fortunately Large seems to come out of this with no physical injuries, but Small gets injured in the struggle and I'm generally worried about it getting worse. How can I get these two to get along? In spite of the fighting, Large is definitely a lot more lively and active with Small nearby. They have plenty food and space (they each have about 200 square feet), I think that Small is just scared of Large. What can I do?
>>4184696two female ? if yes, did you sterilized them ?
>>4184718Yes. Both fixed. Large is 3 years old and Small is 1 yo
>>4184696Sounds like you just need to bond them. I've personally used stress bonding but there are other techniques.
>>4184738I was hoping that just being near each other would eventually get them more comfortable. It seems to have worked one way, Large is fine, but Small is not chilling out, she's just gotten smarter about attacking Large.Stress bonding stresses me out though because the fighting is so aggressive.
>>4184757The longer they are separated the harder it will be to bond themFigure out something for both of their sake or Small could end up seriously injured
>>4184696>Small will hide away and then suddenly run out and attacks Large.small feels like large is intruding on it's territory, are they in neutral territory?
>my middle eastern dad said that our family is cursed, we can't have bunnies inside our homes according to his grandpa>"pfft whatever you say schizo dad">my most miserable years was when i had two bunniesit's not fucking fair
>>4185280I've had Large for over a year before I had Small who I've had for about a month. If anything, Small stole half of Large's territory (Large doesn't care much afaik). Small was definitely angling to take more territory though, she would poo all over the place, and would constantly sneak over to Large's side and pee on stuff. She doesn't do that anymore, so I guess that's an improvement.I don't know if this is relevant, but after every fight they eat each other's fur. I take it away so they don't clog up their intestines, but I didn't find anything on this behavior online. This weekend I'm going to get a large plastic bin to serve as neutral territory
>summer rolls around>these guys start multiplyingcan these cute little suicidal furballs stop running in front of my car please

how timid are rabbits?I want to get one as a pet, but I don't want them to just hide and run awayalso, they seem rather intelligent?
do they chew enough shit that I should refrain from having one if I'm renting an apartment?
>>4187470if you are nice to them they will have no problem lying next to you and getting pet, tho you should get on their level instead of picking them up>>4187480you need to secure wires, and they will eat paint on walls or chew furniture
How much time per day does owning a bunny take up? RSPCA website says 10 hours per week, but is that really true? Sounds like such a prohibitively big commitment if so.
Hi /an/, I was walking home from work and there was a wild rabbit in the path, and unusually it didn't run away like they usually would.Instead, it started rolling around all over the place as I got closer, almost like it was trying to flee but was unable to determine which way was up. So it just sort of flip-flopped for a few minutes, until it calmed down (or tired out) and just laid there. There were no visible wounds or blood, at a glance it was perfectly healthy. Any ideas what could have caused it? I was guessing head trauma but it was fairly far from any roads, and again it appeared fine.
>>4188764could be pesticides, herbicides or similar thing someone used on grassthere was case in my country when someone used questionable chemicals and same thing you described happened>>4188098you don't have to take him out 5 times per day like dog, he doesn't shit and piss everywhere, and as long as you change his litter box every week or two there won't be any smellbut if he would be alone all the time he will suffer so either get two of them and/or you should few times per day lay next to him and pet him, and make him company, also let him loose if you can somewhat secure wires, so he have free movement and isn't caged all the time, and put him in cage only when you are not at home
>>4188777>could be pesticides, herbicides or similar thing someone used on grassI really hope not, there's so many bunnies in that area. Either way I hope he's alright, I'll be sad if he's in that same spot when I go back in a few days

Any gardeners/farmers who used droppings as manure, how has it worked for you and what's your process?
My bun's cursed. Out of the five potential bondmates so far:> 1 - didn't wake up after spaying> 2 - died on the first night at the shelter after being rescued> 3 - tried to bond for 8 months, but a major furfight kept happening once a month apart. was eventually rehomed> 4 - shelter couldn't proceed with spaying because she was diabetic or something> 5 - didn't poop for 16 hours after spaying. had to get a bunny IVNumber five is alive and kicking after getting that shot of nutrients, though. Maybe the curse is broken!

>>4189177I dump the whole shitter in the compost pile and it works pretty well. Probably has a pretty good mix of brown and green on its own.
I have rabbits that show up in my backyard. I think they might eat some of the birdseed that falls from the bird feeder. Is this safe for them or should I try to shoo them away if they’re near it? They otherwise eat normal green stuff from the yard and garden that they’d normally be eating.
>>4190487>Is this safe for themit's fine. it's pretty much grass seed

This little shit just escaped a 5 foot tall enclosure by climbing onto his bed then jumping over the side. Rabbits are my favorite animal, but I don't have the luxury of taking care of such a messy, sloppy, stinky creature.Fuck retards who adopt rabbits on Easter and then abandon them a week later. But part of that is the rabbits' fault for being a lot higher-maintenance than their appearances let on.

I posted earlier in this thread about my two rabbits that aren't getting along. I started the stress bonding and it seems to be working, I won't leave them alone unsupervised, but they are so much better. Large is 95% OK with Small and Small is just wary around Large. But I'm having another issue, I thought it would go away when they stopped fighting, but it's still just as bad. Small keeps on peeing in a corner of Large's territory. Large doesn't even spend much (if any) time there, but every time Small works up the nerve to enter Large's territory she'll go there and leave a thick piss. She also poos all over the place on that side of the room, but that's less of an issue. It's fairly close to Small's litterbox, but she is fine with her own litterbox when the gate is up

The whole reason why everyone suggests Timothy over Alfalfa is because Timothy has less protein (and calcium). Too much protein can cause impaction in adult rabbits. Pellets do have hulls in them often though, like onions hulls and oat hulls, not onion.Regardless, rabbits don't need pellets at all to have a healthy life as others have stated. Hay and fresh veggies are more than fine.
