I'm going to post a platypus every day until all of /an/ wants a puggle to snuggle.

First and foremost I would just like to apologize for my absence. I had to go on an extended remote buisness trip and wasn't able to post from there. I thought I would be able to but you can't chan on a government computer. I hope anon's can forgive me for the break in posting. I didn't find out that I was cut off until I got there. I am going to have to get my hands on a sat phone with a data package or starlink next time I have to go anywhere the internet is in question. I promise to do my very best to never let it happen again. It's my fault because I've been screwed by faulty promises of remote internet before. The last time I found myself SOL for internet was when I took my dad fishing out in the gulf of mexico and the charter "forgot" to mention that their satellite system was out of commission. I really should have known better.

Also thank you all from >>>3946544 thread for your concern. You all once again have proven /an/ to be the best board on the whole internet.

Again I must state no eating the duck puppy. Even abos wouldn't eat platypuses. It might actually have something to do with them being venomous. Some people get sick from eating venomous animals.

>>
>>3982961

No sir, the Platypus is the last member of an animal order which now only has 2 species left on planet Earth. The monotremes diverged from mammals in the late cretaceous and followed mammal developments in many ways, but retained other traits, now only seen in reptiles, amphibians and fish. They are an example of a divergent evolutionary path, a living, breathing 'what-if'.

Just some of their remarkable abilities, they are warm blooded yet lay eggs like reptiles or birds, they can detect electronic emissions like eels, they produce milk for their young without nipples or breasts, just through modified skin patches, the earliest fossils were found in northern china, they exhibit complex nesting instincts, building formidable burrows like a beaver, they raise their young like mammals, they posses no real stomach, but a muscular tube like some reptiles. Male platypus have venom glands during mating season, a powerful neurotoxin, the action of which remains poorly understood. Platypus venom is distinct from any bio-toxin found on planet earth, sharing chemical similarities with the Portuguese Man of War, snakes and poisons found in frog tissue. A tiny amount of platypus venom causes permeant nerve damage--there is no known anti-venom, yet sparing platypuses can shrug off venom stings, countering the venom and healing damaged tissue.

I think they are the most interesting animal around. They fact that platypuses are cute and like cuddles is neat too.
>>
Aren't they endangered? I don't think I can own one according to my country laws not to mention it probably would be expensive to import one all the way from the Australia

However, I do not live in proper conditions, have a proper enclosure, and do not want to cause an invasive species problem.

Wanting is different than having. These are wild animals and are not domesticated.
>>
>>3986500
>These are wild animals and are not domesticated.

While you are not wrong platypuses that are well treated actually seek out human interaction. Especially the females who are completely safe and harmless. The males are mostly food driven.
