OP here, 90% of us aren't furry, even the ones that explicitly say they want to fuck foxes are usually just joking.

IMO there's something special about foxes and canines in general. I know that spirit animals is somewhat of a stupid concept, but I truly believe that people do have connections with certain animals.

I had a girlfriend (a LONG time ago) that was really bubbly and energetic and her spirit animal was a hummingbird. After we broke up and I entered my "post-girlfriend depression" phasen I'd find that a ton of love songs would talk about girls similar to her as hummingbirds. Of course it's mostly coincidence but I do think we put certain values and characteristics in certain animals, maybe not exactly how we see them in fables, but something similar to that.

I remember seeing a documentary about this, specifically talking about red foxes, some years ago and how they explained it was that the slit pupil allows better/richer colour purrception in varying lighting conditions
>please see my attempt at illustrating this in practice

The pale blue and yellow ellipses represent the pupil in different dilated states. The RGB bars are a flat representation of the colour spectrum

The takeaway there is that the slit pupil catches a broader spectrum of colours in both bright and dark light

So I know that pet foxes have a smell to them, but if you have a pet fox for a long time, can you sniff them out? Like, if you are around other foxes you can easily tell they aren't your love? I would think you could as they all have different scents.

Wouldn't wolves be more trusting because they're pack animals?
I would consider foxes to be close to the human rogue/thief archetype: they're clever and work alone.
Wolves would be closer to the "warrior" archetype, as they fight in groups and participate in a social hierarchy.

Well that's one way to look at it. There is no right or wrong answer, but I'm thinking of the lone wolf archetype. They do hunt in packs, but they're not as social as like lions. The Wolf Spirit Animal is all about strong instincts and a lack of trust, but its pretty arbitrary, just like tarot cards you can create your own interpretations
>>
>>3467030
>its pretty arbitrary, just like tarot cards you can create your own interpretations
So spirit animals are fake and gay? Makes sense considering hippies and "deep" people are the ones who would make a big deal about having them.

Yeah they're pretty much fake and gay. But sometimes even fake and gay things can be meaningful in life. Its not like astrology where your whole personality depends on random factors that are lightyears away, spirit animals appear on manydifferent cultures from many different eras.
They're symbology and symbology is just that, not real, but sometimes the isn't makes a better version of the is.
In theory anyone could be any spirit animal, since human thought is extremely complex, but isolating a certain part of your psyche and putting it in your daily life can be an amazing experience.

sorry for the long ass post, I just really think everyone should try out a spirit animal test (even if it's just for shits and giggles).

has there ever been a fox that went too fast?
>>
I almost kicked a cute little foxgirl this morning. I was walking and saw her glowing eyes blink on a few feet in front of me. I stopped and my foot loudly skidded on the ground. She went: O.O!!! then ran away. I'm sorry, little fox. I don't know why you were taking a nap in the middle of the street. At least I didn't kick you.
>>
>>3473900
sleeping in the middle of the road is dangerous anyways. a car wouldn't have had this much mercy.
>>
But where would you kiss the fox? on the tip of the snoot, or the side of the muzzle?

Cars make a lot more noise than I do. I've seen this one sleeping in the road before. She's the only one who has stayed in the half-mile radius of her litter of 3. She's a cutie, but I worry she might be a little bit dumb. I have a feeling the pavement felt nice and cool and dry. Hope she doesn't get run over.

This morning I found foxgirl right outside licking the sidewalk. She caught sight of me and went OH Shit! the fox-kicker!!! O.O" Then she ran away like a wet noodle. I investigated the concrete and there were licky wet streaks and paw prints. I don't know what was so delicious over there. Her name is Sketti now. Later on I saw a smol fox trotting across the road with a bun-shaped bunny in his mouth. He stopped and looked at me smugly, then smugly trotted on. Bun on bun. He looks like a roundy little fox roll. His name is Bun.

They're canids
Pups is fine, in fact its actually better because it eliminates any confusion with the species literally called the kit fox.

Baby foxes have always been called kits. Just like everyone knows what a vixen is. The male fox is known as a todd, butt also as a 'dog'. Now that might actually get someone confused

That's why you add the word fox before the word pups.
Just like when you add the word fox before kits.

And again foxes are in fact canids, pups is equally as valid as kits.

I dokn't think there has been anything new since the Belyaev project. Until a few years ago there was a website, SibFox.com, thru which the (remaining) Belyaev foxes were sold as pets and I remember they said all the foxes were, in addition to being fully vaccinated, spayed and neutered, so that would more or less put an end to that project

Here's a good, fairly recent minidoc about the Belyaev foxes if you havekn't seen it yet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dwjS_eI-lQ

I guess today there's your mixed bag of 'exotic pet breeders' that work w/ foxes butt I'm knot aware of anything to the extend what Belyaev did, going on. Try 'Lyudmila Trut' on Google and YouTube, she's the other key name on this matter in addition to Belyaev
