Oh it absolutely was. I'm just saying that Envy just showed that he is still a threat, even when weakened to this state. And they just decide to send him to a country where the leader was described as "would absolutely sacrifice his own people to make a Philosopher's Stone if only he knew how".

This is weird because much later it's shown he still has the philosophers' stone core in him in this form. Does he have a double dose normally, one to stay alive and the other to use as transformation mass?

From later chapters we know that Envy can possess other people's body by acting like a parasite, I wonder why he didn't try and do it with Scar here.

The story of how Bradley hooked up with his wife is the funniest thing.

>they laugh at him for being a retard
>Lust gives him the sex ed talk
>Envy tells him to compliment Mrs. Bradley's dump truck ass
>Envy follow Wrath to see him do it
>Wrath gets slapped again
>Lust calls them both retards

I wish we got to see the Homunculi dicking around in their spare time.

I really like this pace where when the characters have somewhere to go, they're just there despite the presumably long travel time (May to Youswell, Al's party to Lior). Even back to when the bros decided to go to Briggs, you might expect be a small traveling bit for some dialogue but nope, they were in the snow the very next chapter.

Forgot to mention last chapter that it would have been also a little more satisfying if when Marcoh depowered Envy’s stone, the Xerxians started to fight back and turn on Envy similar to in Undertale when the other kids souls turned on Omega Flowey and drained it, pushing in Envy’s shit from earlier when he called them “just energy” to Ed.

>>
>>250142537
At least with Lust, he apparently wasn't even aware she had a stone within her, he impaled her once and thought she'd die from that.

Against Envy and Gluttony he was outmatched, so it would have been a risky move. We also have to consider Marcoh simply wasn't as brave as he is now, and trying to oppose the homunculi alone would have ended very badly for the village.
>>
>>250135160
>>250135181
>>250135207

This is such an idiot plot, seriously, this quote sums it up best: “Idiot Plot: When the heroes reduce Envy to its larval form, Scar hands it to May and sends her home so she can give it to the Emperor and save her clan. Except that the only "secret of immortality" it knows is the creation of philosopher's stones, which May herself had recently said she would not want the Emperor to know because he'd perform the required bloodshed at once. There's no indication that there's any way to “immortality” that's nicer, but, even if there was, the little sadist probably wouldn't say it, because it likes nothing better than to see humans kill each other and delights in cruelty—even in its reduced state, it's uncooperative and gloats over the bad news it can give. Not to mention it can still do some harm, and tried to take Yoki hostage (failing mainly because well, Yoki). It's also a Manipulative Bastard of the first order, which Scar and Marcoh know from extensive personal experience. Not something, then, that any intelligent adult would put in the hands of a child as a gift for a self-serving Emperor. But the plot needed it and May in Central for the Final Battle, so that's what happened.

(Had to get this off Wayback because TV Tropes has now become such a horrible website that it deletes or ghettos any criticism, slight negativity of writing or plots, or even the tiniest bit of, or implication of, criticism of governments and people in power (specifically western ones))

>This melts /a/'s only neuron; despite being antagonists and capable of killing enemies they aren't unidimensional characters. Only differences in their moral compass.

Meh, Arcane: League of Legends did this better with Silco. I seen better, more complex sympathetic characters, FMA is still supposed to be a B-Movie thing, it’s not that deep, they are still just pieces of another character’s emotions, the Dwarf.

Theoretically the options were to broker peace/a ceasefire, subdue the invaders entirely non-lethally, or retreat from the fort and let Drachma have it. First two would be incredibly difficult in that scenario, and easily disrupted by Central High Command afterward.
Retreat option could possibly work to disrupt the homunculi, but would be a huge gamble on what Drachma does afterward. If they tried to invade Amestris instead of just holding Briggs that would still suck shit for the citizenry in the region south of the wall even if it was for the greater good. Ultimately a trade for extra time to deal with Father, and not stable.

The blood seals have to be "carved" within a certain area, not just anywhere within Amestris. They could have prepared an ambush away from the fort, or let Drachma take it in order to stage a conflict further south. How would surrender be out of the question? They eradicated almost every soldier from Drachma, exactly the opposite of what they needed to do to stall the Homonculi's plan. They could have killed just a few and then given an opportunity for them to surrender, or made a gigantic show of force and scared the enemy into retreating. They clearly had the capacity to make exceptionally accurate artillery strikes from a great range.

Anon, there are only two things that Olivier makes a big point about: that Briggs is no place for the weak and that she's disappointed in Armstrong was shameful for not doing anything in Ishval. We see Drachma immediately try to invade as soon as she leaves, which gives the impression that this isn't the first time they've had issues with them being sneaky, and Alex himself agrees with Olivier on the second. And it's not just a case of her talking shit about a situation she wasn't in because she is currently making moves against the Central government in a very risky operation that has separated her from all of her allies.

The main thing about Olivier that might put you off is that she's not an outwardly warm person. She's very harsh and brusque, but she does engage in little actions that show she's just as softhearted as Alex deep down.
>>
>>250184859
It's still risky to let her leave with Envy despite that. Especially given there's absolutely no way Ency is going to be kept in that jar forever.

I just like that rose can speak for herself in the manga. Like the main thing that bugged me about the rape bit in 03 wasn't that it happened, it's that the story essentially casca'd her for it and took way whatever opinion or voice she could have had as well. Which is little better then writing her out of the story entirely. Worse in this case because she's a tertiary character, not secondary.
Like the cow lady clearly cares about all her characters having their opinions, no matter how common they are, and living their own lives as much as they can and as fully as they can. It takes away from their presence when they can't speak for themselves or that agency is taken from them without something else to subsitute while turning them in a load in the story instead of a person. Which 03 can't avoid in choosing to handle it the way they did, even though I could tell they were trying to be considerate of the subject.

Tldr: I like manga Rose because her character is still there at the later bits. 03 Imo could have handled it's rape plotline better. It wasn't the worse I'd seen using it, but it wasn't anything particularly good either imo

They can die. They just can't die ON the critical part of the national transmutation circle. I'm not saying it's a totally achievable goal, but they didn't really try at all and this is literally the only missing piece of the opponent's grand plan that they know of. If I knew that not avoiding this battle would result in my entire nation being killed instantaneously, I would try a thing or two to do something about it.
>>250184859
He killed Winry's parents and she still gets to hang out with the gang. She has a role to play as a team member, and so can May. She's actually a huge part of their combined power level. I don't blame Scar for having poor forward thinking, I think May fucked up here by letting herself get guilt-tripped out of the country in 15 seconds flat.
>>250185540
>useless garbage
I wouldn't say it was useless. The US thought it was valuable enough to hide the war crimes evidence and offer total immunity to the researchers involved in exchange for their results.
>>250186161
But going to such an extreme length as to remove a character's agency is a technique in itself, heightening the perceived power of the event itself. If she just brushed it off and laughed and started giving "I'm back on my feet again!" speeches it would retroactively diminish the impact of the event, and make it less significant to the other characters. It plays a big role in Ed's moral struggle about how to handle the events unfolding in that town. The story of 03 is much more focused on Ed/Al, it's totally different from MH's "every character gets their own arc" approach. Minor characters like Rose are fair game to be used as means to an end, rather than not existing in the story, the ripples of her presence impact other parts just as much as if she was physically in those scenes.
Batman's parents die and never really get characterized, but we recognize as the audience that it's an intentional choice. Focusing on and developing Bruce Wayne's personality is worth more.
>>
>>250186498

>The US thought it was valuable enough to hide the war crimes evidence and offer total immunity to the researchers involved in exchange for their results

They thought that without seeing it first: they gave the researchers immunity first and only after that discovered that none of their experiments had a control group. They got sold a pig in a poke.

That's just what they said so that other countries would get off their nuts about wanting to see the research data. It also makes people less suspicious.
