It just feels like the mutual love wasn't earned. I liked that Emilia accepted Subaru's feelings at the end of the 1st season but she still doesn't really know who Subaru is. Echindna and Rem have both seen Subaru at his pure and most vulnerable.I agree that this was a great parallel to the "From Zero" episode with Rem but I thought Rem was actually a parallel to Subaru's toxic love for Emilia. Rem fell in love because she had nothing else in her life, anyone could've been her hero, which makes sense for her character. But now it feels like Emilia is like that as well.We make such a push for her own agency through the entire season but when she addresses some valid points about the state of their relationship and how she feels about how Subaru treats her - he doesn't respond to them and he just repeats "I love you" repeatedly.I literally thought Subaru was being framed as the one in the wrong, which was so jarring as Emilia's complaints were just silenced and she willingly kissed him back.Up until this point Subaru had been my favourite character of all time (since I self-inserted so well to his flaws), but the entire crux of his character relies on how he forms relationships with people. To jeapordize that by progressing his relationship with Emilia too soon just feels like a great mis-step.

The problem is that Emilia talked about how she didn't know if she would be herself when her memories returned. She is entirely right. Subaru behaved unethically by telling her she'd still be herself when the only logical conclusion is that she's different. He's trying to force the one he knows on her and holding her to that expectation which is unethical and damaging. The only ethical thing to do is immediately leave her where nobody knows the real her so she can develop on her own without any weird people that she knew previously trying to support her.

am the newfag whos been reading the wn from the past threads again. i decided to stop excessively updating you guys on my progress, so i havent updated in like a month but i finally finished reading arc 5.it was a fucking pain in my ass to go through the shitty fight sequences akin to rpers typing "CLANG" "SPHANG" in text based rpgs. i started slacking off on reading around the part where regulus fucking destroyed subaru's ankle -which i came to said part fairly quickly-. from that chapter onwards it was a pain in my fucking ass to keep going. their assault on the city hall was kinda underwhelming until capella recited subaru's feelings for rem which gave me the motivation i needed to keep reading.then it got to subaru's cringe speech, which was a fucking disaster to read through lmao. i visibly cringed when the girl in the shelter started going apeshit "yes!! we are with you!!" when subaru revealed his identity. then i just painstakingly read through a few more fights until i decided fuck it, and just skimmed through the fights, while making sure to keep track on what is going on. i then got to the reguluskino where i really enjoyed it, until emilia came around and fucking ruined the fun, as always. then reggie died, idk then i skipped the liliana chapters, the fights went on and i got to theresia vs wilhelm which man wilhelm and theresia's story hit hard.then i got to chapter 74, which from then on its just dialogue and information based so i just kept reading, and finally, i got to the finish line, where beako had her ass slapped by her dad.i liked it.
