SketchUp is a unique tool that produces certain types of detailed models that only SketchUp makes. It's somewhere between CAD and polygon modeling.

Nothing replaces SketchUp and using it too replace a larger program like Blender or Maya doesn't work because the toolsets are very different.
If you want to use SketchUp then use it.
