A good way to learn about shaders is to mod games and older ones at that (Unreal 3 and such). Because back then you had to use all the ticks in the books to make something work and look decent and you couldnt be lazy like 99% of devs today (sorry but its the truth).

great thing is that you dont need to be a programmer to setup your own unique shaders due to the awesome features of UE4 (it will also visualize much better the connections and effects).
A general understanding will help you to use create and use shaders in nearly any modern graphical engine and not just IRAY.

its Z fighting. Most hairs come with a scalp that is off set a bit from the head. Problem doing render is that you subdiv your model higher doing render so you end up with intersecting planes.
How to fix? Well scale the scalp or use something like meshgrapper to create a little bit of "air" between the hair scalp and the head.

Zbrush for sculpting, usually to smooth/fix something small. Not really that useful cause you could sculpt in blender too, and if you make thing from scratch to use in daz then sculpt worth shit all. You need tradition modelling to get the jobs done.

The only thing I think of, for zbrush to has any use for daz, is making some hair. But then you are stuck with shitty Fortnite blocky style hair. It's year 2022 and card hairs are still the best price/performance hairs really, easy to use, easy to make, and look good too if you know what you are doing.
Other than that, maybe make some new head morphs or body morphs.
Real assets like clothes, accessories? Not so much.
So yeah, you should focus on blender. Zbrush is like the ice cream you get after a day's work. It's nice to have but not essential.

well since I am a sucker for sims and hate auto-follow or shitty cloth rigs I changed the geometry and the surface setup of the clothes and made them all 100% dforce.
Its all just sim in DAZ. Takes about 10 mins for a 70 frames animation with all the clothes on (so not super heavy considering my shitty CPU).

Applying hd meshes takes a bit of resources. By goig back to base resolutions you block the lag inducing hd morph refresh each time you move your rig or apply or change a morph.

Should probably think of it more as an on&off switch to enable SubDivision. The SubDivisions don't work unless you enable High. This will subdivide the polygons on the body and allow the HD Morph details to be seen and for fine detail bumpmaps to look better etc.
The "Base Resolution" is the actual unmodified mesh without anything applied. When rendering you'd usually want to enable High and put the SubD up to 3 or so.

yes its the stupid "haircap" that many people create. They add more render drain and lots of unnecessary polygons to the render (some are in the excess of half a genesis 8 in polys). They normally also always have performance draining smoothing modifiers on and not push modifiers.
So what you see is simple old school Z fighting.
What to do? Delete all hair caps and if the hair is badly made then bake the hair cap texture into the head texture of the genesis 8.
A bad fix would to set the resolution to base and remove ALL modifiers. Then go in with the mesh grabber or push modifier and manual set it so there is a small gap between the fucking nigger tier hair cap and the head.

IF you want to go with a hair cap then you just need to add a push modifier or a smoothing modifier to make sure the hair cap does not overlap with the head.
Keep in mind that subdiv meshes makes this annoying sometimes as the curves will not be 100% the same if the mesh is not 100% the same.
If you got the mesh grabber tool for DAZ then simply move the polys of the hair cap manually. Switch to smooth shader so you can easily see the problems of overlap of the retarded hair cap.
Lastly you can also export the hair cap to a blender, Maya Max or whatever and just fix it there.
