>trying to do a FLIP sim with 16GB RAM
i told you about FLIP bro
For anyone that's going to be doing FLIP or pyro all the time, anything less than 256GB is going to limit you sooner or later. Even that you can easily exceed, but you start getting enterprise hardware for capacities beyond that, which gets expensive.
>>864668Memory is comparatively cheap now and you should max out your board. I updated to a 128 GB DDR4 quad kit by Corsair running on a Pro WS W480-ACE + Xeon W-1290P. It's a bundle I snatched from Mindfactory. The memory was around 150% the price of the MB.
>trying to get fluid simulations looking nice>midrange pc from 2017
>>864691I did complex fluid sims for commercial projects on way, way older hardware. What software are you using?
>>864692But you probably know what you're doing and are also not using free software
I have 4gb ram and I can do flip sims
>>864932>I have 4gb ram and I can do flip sims
>>864934Sad thing is... I did some very passable sims with RF in 2006 on a Pentium D with 3GB for a number of food commercials(client: Mueller dairy products). Today my Windows sits idle at 3GB without doing anything. Software developed has become kinda bloated, has it?
