>>804301That's not low poly.
>>804325"Low poly is a polygon mesh in 3D computer graphics that has a relatively small number of polygons."Relative to this for example

an uninspiring and mindless style. Lacks value on all fronts. Fucking minecraft buildings are more appealing to look at than this
>>804301All of these posts are shit and look like they are from some lame ass failed indie games (which I hope they are, fuck you)
>>804362based
whoever kicked in memepoly honestly should burn in hell for triple eternities(to ensure no paroles)
>>804376>>804382>>804385>>804386>>804372here's the decent ones for those who dont want to scroll through shit
>>804327The thing is, those models have more polys than actual low poly models of the same objects would have. Low poly is all about optimization. OP is a picture in a certain style, perfectly valid as such, of course, but that isn't concerned with optimization. I don't know if it has a name... if it doesn't, it should.
>>804362lmao
This is geometric art not lowpoly
>>804362I love you
>>804301learn what low poly actually means you dumbfuck
>>804362nice
>>804520all of this are low poly
>>804426still low poly
>>804682>>804680>>804677>>804673>>804668>>804666>>804691>>804688>>804689>>804686>>804687>>804685this is what we like to see
>>804699So you are ok with the geometry but hate models without textures?
>>804702dont hate low poly without texture just because no texture, but because it usually looks ass. low poly with good texture work is more impressive in general anyway.
>>804719lemme expand. low poly with texture usually embraces technical restraint and shows great skill/technique. textureless lowpoly usually relies on the renderer to pull off the look (no technical restraint) and doesn't display technique/skill nearly as well. take away the renderer from a typical textureless lowpoly and there's little to appreciate underneath. visually pleasing, sure, but low effort, which is why it shows up a lot in corporate media
>>804722ofc other shit goes into it too, like composition and lighting and color and all that. but at the end of the day I just think textured stuff is much more impressive
>>804719>>804722>>804723How does it look better?with or without anti aliasing?
>>804751dont really care if it has anti-aliasing or not. i'm not some faggot purist demanding that all low-fi models have affine texture mapping shaders and vertex snapping (tho i do think it looks cool when artists really try and make it genuine)i don't think textured automatically looks "better" than textureless, but i naturally appreciate things that take more effort. the technical restraints (self imposed or not) on low-fi textured models makes great looking results even more impressive
>>804749Top quality.
>>804660>>804659>it's not shit because technically vomit is something different
>>804716sick
>>804778is that .5 or .25 downscaling ratio?
Where do I start as a 100% total beginner lads?
>>804920>>804920Blender is pretty good to start. But it depends on what you want to achieve. Because there are several areas that surround 3DCG. 1. Modeling2. Sculpting3. Re-topology4. UV maps and UV unwrapping5. Texturing6. Particles and hair7. Rigging8. Animation9. Illumination10. Post processingA generalist knows on a surface level each of them. But usually a CG artist is specialized in one or two. I think the first step is to star modeling with low detail or what is known as "blocking"
>>804920If you mean 3D in general, watch some YouTube tutorials, all the beginner ones are pretty much equal because it's hard to screw up the basics, despite what this board will tell you.If you mean low poly/retro style specifically, my advice is to go to www.models-resource.com, (there's probably better sites out there but I use this one) pick a console you had when you were 11-14, download a couple models, and start analyzing their topology and what kinds of details you should model and what kind are better to represent as textures.
>>804362kek
>>804923>But usually a CG artist is specialized in one or two.In my country ur supposed to do all 10 and also suck the boss's cock, truly a wonderful place to work.
Low poly thread on /v/ if you want to help some anons out>>>/v/545726040
>>80436210/10
>low poly + flat textures + realistic lightingabsolute cancer
>>804761>(tho i do think it looks cool when artists really try and make it genuine)I don't. Looked like crap then, looks like crap now.
