No shit. Most are going to 3D only because of the time/money cost reduction that comes from tweening and coloring. Spending money to make it look like hand drawn defeats that purpose.

Ironically enough 2012 had way better cgi as it was very uncommon to do a full cgi anime thus it has to fit into the anime style better. Now with everything full cgi you just get garbage.
>>
>>793745
>a bit stiff
>>793770
I would assume most animators have enough braincells to recognize that this is either a matter of not enough time/budget or pure incompetence, not a problem of 3D itself. But on the other hand I am way to optimistic when it comes to the general intelligence of people.

>>
>>793720
One problem permanently curtailing the show is that NPR as a whole is too underdeveloped to pull off a good anime look.

The second problem is that the creators have no skill and make soulless garbage, which is a problem that exists regardless of software, faggot.
>>
>>793951
Well, generally vehicles are way better (insert early gundam vs any recent mecha.jpg), so anything vehicle focused will do good. Even early Initial D, with literally worse than video game tier looks is enjoyable, because it wasn't used as a way to cut costs so it's not just a placeholder.
Then you have Houseki no Kuni, where they went all out and it shows.
And there is also Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono, which was literally made in MMD, but is one of the most enjoyable anime I've seen. Though you need to have already watched a good bit to truly enjoy it, same way as Nyaruko.

The bad examples are usually used by people who have an agenda and are crusading against computer graphics based on emotions. There are equally bad "hand drawn" stuff.

>There are equally bad "hand drawn" stuff.
There's no 3d that's as good as the best "hand drawn stuff"
>>
>>794104
best ''hand drawn stuff'' had how many years to perfect their work? Around 70 years or so, last great drawn anime was Red Line that took 7 years to make and didn't meet expectations of biz heads.
Not long ago digital animation rose but it too didn't had enough time and money to get good and now we get mixed or full 3d that is under experienced/under funded for such productions.
Yes there are 3d films/movies like FF but it is different bread compared to very stylized 3d anime.
We need some time, stabilization of technology and better funding to get good stuff going.
>>
>>793951
Dorohedoro hasn't been mentioned yet, but it's a blend between 3d and 2d. It's integrated well enough that you barely notice it - helped by most of the characters wearing masks.

Beastars does it really well but I think the fact that they're animals helps with the uncanny-ness.

Houseki no kuni really embraces 3d, not just trying to make it look 2d, but to make full use of all the advantages 3d gives with shaders and cameras. Probably the most unique 3d anime I've seen.
>>
>>793805
I'm just as offended by the environment as I am with the animation. Hahaha holy shit. It's just a grey fucking cube with a few more cubes scattered around.
>>
>>794104
You can look at western animation to get a feel of what high budged high quality anime could look like.

And I bet you are talking about OVAs that took years to make and had a high budged, which is just not going to happen these days when the focus is on doing seasonal adaptations for quick bucks and no risks.
>>
>>794112
fax
>>
Well, it's always a question of cost involved. The studios doing this are usually smaller and the return isn't that great.

In the end normies will eat it up since it's "just good enough". Look at the success of RWBY. It's technically far from state of the art, but somehow people ate it up.

There's an absolute galaxy of badly animated anime made in the most expensive rental software the world has ever known.
If you're going to keep score on how many badly animated 3d japshit movies, games, and TV shows there are then Autoshitters are sitting on a mountain of failure.

it's probably some 3-d software expert with no experience in 2-d animations
so many think that just knowing the software will make good animations
while the ignore simple principles like slow-ins and slow-outs
they forget to use extremes/squash and strecth principles (this can be done with rigid models tooo if you know what you're doing)
or have any clue as to how objecs with specific volumes interact and how to make said interaction look appealing
they're too hung up and use to using the simulator to learn the principles
hence we get shitty floaty movement like : >>793719

Pieces of shit like this don't get made because of hiring choices; it's almost always the fault of poor production planning and hierarchies in all the wrong places. You can hire the most talented swedish meatballs in the world, but if you give them two days to do two months of work then ofc you'll wind up with soulless garbage

Praised as the first use of CGI in a major Japanese animation film (Golgo 13: The Professional). Produced by Toyo Links Co., Ltd. with proprietary in-house software.

Yes, based on the LINKS-1 parallel microcomputer system designed at Osaka University.

Yoichiro Kawaguchi used this system for his stunning growth model visualizations throughout the 80s.

Japan is stuck in the 90s, they literally use fax instead of email. Japanese people don't know how to use computers, why do you think all the big Japanese tech companys have transitioned to english offices?
>>
>>813663
>he never worked in Japan

We also do that, because a fax in my country (Germany) is treated like a letter while an email comes with no legal ties or obligations.

We are also, together with Japan, an industrial and cultural powerhouse that is the envy of many. Engineering? Heavy industry? High-tech like fusion energy, nanotech, weapon research, aerospace? You can bet we did it first and we are on top.

We also run Europe. No EU without us. And one day we will again take what is rightfully ours.
>>
>>813693
All of eu hates your guts and doesn't want to have anything to do with you fuck off kraut
>>
>>813693
I think you're confused...? You're not German, Ahmed.
>>
>>813696
EU can't exist without us because you constantly need gibs from Germany and the UK. The rest of Europe is 3rd world shit tier and should be turned into a parking lot.

I like Germans. Well, German women. I enjoy the contrast between the restrained way they tend to act publicly, and how crazy they can get in bed. And not only that: the skin contrast also looks great.

Still, I wouldn't marry one. They can be really stubborn or lacking in imagination. I believe many Blender devs have Germanic roots, no? This might explain why Blender development goes in such weird directions for so long, ignoring the actual needs of the industry.
>>
>>813650
Have they never seen a lolipop before?

Seriously what excuses do they have left? Foreign immature producers, live action director that didn't even like anime, crew not prepared for the challenges of 3d anime, shit production values and crunch time.

But fuck how do you get away with not knowing how a common candy looks?
>>
>>813759
They probably didn't make it.
>>
I'm honestly kinda wondering why peoply haven't used blender npr+grease pencil combined with other tools like ebsynth to get a 2.5d feel. One big issue in every 3d anime is the faces, since 2d breaks physics with having eyes and hair being shown in ways that shouldn't make sense it would be better to keep facial features hand made. Studio Taiko and the Peanuts movie did a good job of blending everything together I think.

You know, the dude on the left actually looks hand-drawn from that specific angle. It's a shame about the rest of the dumpster fire though.
>>
>>807627
>it's probably some 3-d software expert
I wouldn't call anyone that worked on this a 3D software expert dude
But you're right, this is straight up baby's first animation and it shows, niggas should've at least read richard willams book
But the animation is not even the only shitty thing, they don't know shit about composition, camera work or literally ANYTHING about the production of a show, it's unironically worst than uni student level work
And Netflix paid them for it(probably like 10 bucks and 3 pieces of hard candy but still paid)
>>
>>813646
What is with this fucking gimmick? Why are they using 3D and 2D characters in this? This is so lazy, it feels like they just grabbed a couple of random 3D and 2D assets and just went to work with it. It looks like my attempts at making videogames when i was a teenager
Why is this on fucking netflix?
>>
>>816998
>You know, the dude on the left actually looks hand-drawn from that specific angle
That's because he is. For some reason they use 2D and 3D characters in this, it looks fucking horrible,
>>
>>810391
Holy shit this one is just comical.

It's not the software that makes it bad, it's the extreme low effort put into these shots. Sad, it seems this one is just a cashgrab.
>>
>>793720
pyw (you won't)
>>
>>813610
I honestly can't tell if that's all 3d or not. If so, then that's absolutely amazing.
>>
>>817313
It's a cost-saving thing - it's cheaper to just draw a character that's only going to appear in a few scenes in 2D rather than modelling a full 3D character each time. Problem is they're too incompetent to make the 3D and 2D characters look like they're part of the same scene so it just sticks out like a sore thumb.
>>
>>817572
They think they save money, but in reality they don't. Classic trap. Never was the case.
>>
>>793805
fucking kek

It's a mix of 2D and 3D, not all 3D; you can tell where the CGI is because of how bad it looks
