Are there any good programs or sites that you can use to download videos straight from Youtube in decent quality? What about other streaming video sites like Kimcartoon?
>>
>>666277
Google the website you want to download from followed by the word downloader and click the first link
>>
youtube-dl
Jdownloader 2
>>
>>666277
keepvid dot com
just paste the url into the website and it'll download it for you, no external programs needed (at least not the last time I used it, which was admittedly a few years ago)
>>
>>666279
When I open youtube-dl.exe it opens then closes. Had this problem when I tried it months ago too. I'm a windows 10 user
>>
I use 4k video downloader. Kind of nagware but really not that bad. Long as you close the window it opens after every update/install and block the reminders to update the download functionality/speed/quality is very good.
>>
>>666303
You're supposed to open cmd and use it from there, not just click it

That might sound daunting but trust me it's very, very easy
>>
>>666303
youtube-dl is a command line program
>>
Twitch Leecher is great (but only for Twitch).
>>

For Youtube: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube_downloader_webx/
For the rest: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-video-and-flash/

Now the second one does Youtube as well, but the first one is just too convinient for YT to not use it.

It's already been said, but I've got to say and reaffirm that youtube-dl is excellent.
I made a webm showing how to use it. Command-line programs are easy to use, don't let the interface scare you off. If you have any problems, google is your friend.

The webm might be helpful to others too, if anyone cares to save it.

Not OP, but thank you a lot
>>
>>666327
wow that's so weird, never seen it work that way before. thank you
>>

>>666411
I'll just add that if it gives you an error about certification or whatever add --no-check-certificate before the url
>>
>>666436
Is there a way to trim the file's lenght?
>>
>>666477
You can force it to download at a lower resolution.

youtube-dl -f 'best[filesize<50M]' your_link will download best quality that is lower than 50 Mb.

Or you can, you know, re encode it. Ffmpeg is right there already. It is a big topic in of itself but you can download some GUI that uses ffmpeg and encode away. Takes time though.
>>
>>666477
Not the other anon, but if you're talking about the duration of the video, you can use FFmpeg to crop out sections of the video without re-encoding.
FFmpeg is a command-line program itself (for video/audio editing and conversion). I can probably give the commands needed to do so if you want.
youtube-dl uses FFmpeg to combine the best video and audio choices if they're not available as a single download (as seen in >>666392), so if you don't have it, it's probably a good idea to download it and put it in the same folder.
>>
>>666477
as gentlemen here mentioned ffmpeg, use this code

ffmpeg -i "input" -ss 00:00:00.000 -t 00:00:00.000 "output"

where -ss is the beginning and -t is the duration (don't confuse it with the ending)

>>666513
Yeah, I know how to do it, but I was wondering whether it was possible to do it directly with youtube-dl.
>>
>>666519
there's this but I haven't tried it

Thanks
>>
>>666277
there's a gui version of youtube-dl called youtube-dl-gui. it supports playlist downloads and conversions to mp3 and webm. just google it up and get it from github
>>

Kino and many thanks lad

Kino and what?
>>

?
>>
>>667013
gui?
>>
>>668380
What is that?
>>
Is there a way to download only audio directly. It's pain in the ass to download whole video with youtube-dl and then extract mp3 with ffmpeg.

>>
>>668771
yeah there is, google it and you'll find the command
>>
>>668771
https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/blob/master/README.md#format-selection
Generally though, you can use something like this:
youtube-dl -f bestaudio 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ'
>>
>>668895
This outputs a webm format. Using the mp3 command returns that that format is not available
>>
>>668771
-x --audio-format mp3

That's why you should use the -help command to actually learn how to use the app.

have you checked out acethinker video downloader?
just type into google acethinker video downloader, click on the link with the 4.3 stars out of 5 rating

first copy the link on top of the video
(w.w.w.youtube.c.o.m/example/number-emoji)

then paste it into the link area, then click download
it'll say the choices, go for the mp4 with the 640 to 340, some video it should say medium
reason why is that anything higher downloaded, no sound will be saved
>>
>>666277
YouTube!
